Do you swear that what you're about to tell me in this recorded statement will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? >> Yes, I do. >> Thank you. All right, so in your own words, what led you to file a police report alleging that a former employee had embezzled money from the company? >> So, what triggered it was a parts customer came to return a part, normal transaction. And in the course of that, we always have to find out how the original payment was made. In this case, we found out that the customer had the paint the transaction had been registered as a redeeming for Ford Pass points, which is a reward system that Ford has. But in the ledger, the customer the customer's receipt was stamped cash. So, they paid cash, but in our on our books, it got registered as points rewards. That led us to start investigating, and we found out that the lady was taking the cash, pocketing the cash, and then >> the record, we stopped it. What lady are you referring to? >> Oh, Sharon Kwasi Groh. >> How do you spell her last name? >> K W A S C I G R O H. >> You're referring to the lady who was >> is Sharon. >> S H A R O N? >> Yes. >> Let me see that, please. So, you're referring to the name from this right here, correct? >> Yes, sir. >> Are these the identity documents that she gave when she got hired? Okay, go ahead. Continue, please. >> Um so, we then that led us before we even addressed her, we pulled the record of the of the Ford Pass account. And come to find numerous transactions both awarding points to that account, and then redeeming. All the When I say redeeming means they cashed out. So, all of those transactions were cash payments. Mostly parts, but some were in service invoices that were redeemed where cash customer paid cash, but cash never made it into our register. The the payment was registered as redemption from that bogus account. >> All right. So, to if you were explaining this to a sixth grader, for example. So, she worked here. What was her job title? >> Cashier. >> Cashier. Parts cashier or just any cashier? >> Service all around. Service and parts. >> So, customer a real customer would come in, do a transaction, and pay cash for that transaction. Correct? Uh were they utilizing their Ford's point Ford's pass account or just a strictly simple cash? >> I'm paying cash. >> All right. She would then take that cash, stick it in her pocket, but never make it in a register. >> Correct. >> And then she would ring up the transaction as if a customer used their points to pay for the item. Therefore, on your end, when you look at the paperwork, it all balances out. >> Correct. Our our our our registers balance out. She she would make a copy cuz they have to make a copy of the the Ford pass transaction and put it along with that paperwork. So, when it went through accounting, they said, "Okay, here's the payment." >> But So, she did print the receipts and give to clients with a transaction. Okay. Now, your investigation, when what date range did it identify she did this from? >> So, it started First transaction was October of 2024. >> October what? Do you know the date? >> October 31st was the first registered transaction on that account. >> Okay. And the final? >> And the final was February 5th of 2025. >> Okay. What's the total theft? >> Total theft is what I came up with was $7,143.75. >> I'm sorry, say that one more time. >> $7,000 $143.75. >> Did you ever interview any customers who told you, "I paid cash or I did this or I did that"? Did you ever speak to any customers to verify anything? >> The only one and it's only because it happens to be a personal friend uh where he does not He didn't pay cash. He paid his his transaction normal, but she took She used his payment. This is where she accumulated points. Since he didn't have a Ford Pass account, she registered herself to She would have to register herself as put her email in his account so that she can redeem the points that he spent that he accumulated by paying just normal paying. >> Now, did she do this for the purposes of driving with accounting? In other words, these points she was creating, did she use that to cover these cash transactions? >> Correct. >> Okay. Um >> So, this customer >> the same email for multiple customers, for example? How were you able to tie multiple customers to the same card? >> the way the system works, she would have to before she fully processes this transaction, she can She So, here's he paid with a credit card. She took payment. Customer left. My my you know, he left. But it's stamped paid. Then before she So, all work paperwork has to be technically closed in the computer system. So, what she does is she has to go in, put her email on his account first. >> Which she has the capability of doing as an employee? >> Correct. Then, she closes the paperwork. Now, Ford Does Ford grabs the points passively. They just see the auto repair >> That's not your corporate. >> You're right, in the Ford system. So, once once she closes the work order, now Ford says this In this case, the customer spent $1,805. Those points get The equivalent of those points get attached to that account. Then, then she goes in and removes the email after that. >> All right. And how were you able to If it was removed, how were you able to determine that that email was used originally? >> Only because it shows up on on the list of of redeemed points. There's only one way to do that. >> So, let me just make sure I understand. The receipt, customer A comes in, like you said, pays credit card, gets their product, they leave happy and settled, all right? She went into that customer's account, added her email address. Now, she did this on customers who were not currently enrolled? >> Correct. >> Okay. So, she would create the accounts to get benefit from those purchases. >> And get the points, then use those points later to pay for the cash transaction. >> Correct. >> So, if someone came in, customer B comes in, I'm buying this uh this whatever widget for 50 bucks. They pay cash. Now, that person's rung up as a documented customer with with no rewards? >> The The penny on whether or not they they happen to have a reward. >> So, if they do or do not, how was she able to execute the theft? >> She If they paid what she was doing So, the it was two part. Number one, to accumulate points. And then, if they paid cash, which most of most of the cash transactions came from the part side, then she pocketed the cash and used the points as form of payment. >> From the other customers? >> From other >> So, would she go and change the invoice to reflect a new identity on the receipt? >> Not for the redemptions. She didn't She doesn't have to. She only She only has to change the email for from accumulation of points. >> On an existing account? >> Correct. >> All right. So, what we need to determine is how many were that you confronted her. >> So, at that point, then we um brought her in and confronted her. And at first, she Well, the the first question I asked her was "Who is this person?" At the time, I didn't know that that was >> Now, explain what you're talking about. >> So, this is the account that was created to accumulate points and redeem points. It's under Yvonne >> of them? >> On all of them. >> All right. >> Yvonne Sauer. So, Yvonne is her second name. Her name is Sharon. Yvonne is her second name. Sauer, I end up finding out later, is her maiden name. Here, she used Quassigroh. >> Okay. >> And um that's the email she created that credited all the all the transactions. So, that email was from process. So, at first, I when I brought her in here, I said, "Who is this person?" She says, "I don't know. I don't know who that is. It's a customer." And we kept pressing and asking her. I said, "Well, isn't that your your your second name?" And then, she admitted to it in front of other witnesses. And we continued questioning her regarding the transactions and in fact that the previous night when we processed the what triggered everything investigation that that refund for the parts customer turns out she had done the very last transaction for cash what cuz the parts drivers come in and when they have transactions to be or when they're on the road they come to her and they process all these transactions. So the night before as we were investigating she processed the very last transaction for $699. >> So that was the date of you confronted her would be what? >> That was February >> Um the 4th I'm guessing cuz no 5th is when you said the finals so it would be February 6th? >> Yeah so we processed yeah February 6th is when we did the termination. >> Now who are the witnesses that you said were present when she Oh back up so let's get to her statement. So now she's denied now she has admitted this is her name what happened after that? >> So I said well where's where's all the money? What's what have you been doing what what's going on? And she said well the money is gone. I said what do you mean the money is gone? And she just said the money is gone. I said so then I said well you did one last night for $699. Where is that money? She said it's gone. >> Just gone? Just gone that's all she said? >> Okay continue. >> So I said okay um when I back up just a little bit when I confronted her about the the name on the account and the email I said so if I when I hand this over to detectives and you know the office and they backtrack this. It's not going to come up with your name. That's when she kind of changed the admitted. So, she admitted in front of all of us that yes, she was doing it. >> Can you tell me her exact words that you can recall? >> She I'm trying to remember. She said Well, when once I got her to admit that where the money was and she said I She said, "Well, I I just needed money." And then we found out later that there's some family problem. I didn't really get into that. But >> Okay. >> There's excuses. >> All right. Anything else? >> That's um about all I can recall right now. >> All right. Thank you, sir. Do you swear that what you're about to tell me in this recorded statement will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? >> Thank you. As you know, I'm investigating an employee here, Sharon, who is allegedly modifying receipts to take money. Uh tell me in your own words everything you you know, heard, seen, and did, please, related to this. >> The only thing that I overheard was I had I think I'm I don't know if it was my truck tires or a boat trailer tires. >> Nothing. >> And I paid cash that day. Um most of the time I always use a hard here. >> Okay. >> Just so I keep track of it, but I had cash and I paid for the tires. I don't remember if it was the boat trailer or truck. I paid for the tires in cash, got a receipt, and then it was maybe 6 or 7 days later I heard them saying something about They asked me, actually, "Did you pay cash for those tires?" I said, "Yeah, I did." "Oh, okay." And then a couple more days after that, I heard she was transferring points into the cash or cash points, whatever she was doing. >> Did you review your own paperwork and see that it was indeed changed? >> No, cuz I don't have Ford Pass. >> Okay. >> I don't even >> What I'm saying is did you ever see an invoice, your invoice, that shows something different that it shows you did not pay cash? Did you ever see the invoice with your own eyes? >> No. >> All right. You Did she make any statements to you, any admissions? Did you ever confront her or anything? >> No. >> What's your job title here? >> Uh shop foreman {slash} dispatcher. >> Okay. All right. So, please correct me if I make any mistakes or add anything you want to add. So, you work here, obviously. You paid for tires on an invoice. You paid cash for those tires. Do you know the amount? I think it's right here. It says Mike or 337.31. Is that what you paid? >> Yes. >> All right. You paid with cash. You were later asked by management, "Did you pay in cash?" You said, "Yes." They looked at the paperwork and said it was paid for with Ford points. >> Yes. >> They weren't your Ford points, right? >> No. >> All right. >> I do not have a Ford Pass. >> All right. And you had no contact with her about it. That ends your involvement. Anything else? >> Nope. >> Thank you very much. All right. Let's just make sure this works. Hey, Sharon. Thanks for showing up. Do you have anything else on you? Just your phone? >> Yeah, my phone. >> Your phone and your keys? >> No, I was able to lock my keys. >> Okay. With the like an app on your phone? >> With a button here. >> Okay. All right. Just going to detain you in handcuffs for now. Okay? Do you want to take the sweater off now or >> No, we can take it in the jail. That way it can just go in your property. >> Can you just put your arm back? Is that too tight? You that adjust Thanks for being so cooperative. It's a lot easier this way. Just lock this so that way you don't get pinched. So, you don't have nothing in your pockets at all? >> Just my phone. >> Oh, what's in your back pocket? Where are your keys at? >> She said she locked it with the car. >> Okay. Can you fit in there or do you want to walk around? Go ahead and have a seat right there. And we're going to drive around to the jail. >> Got my phone.
