it now this is the reason I still want
to learn multiple languages hey everyone
I'm John and I appreciate you for
watching now as a police officer dealing
with a possible DUI involved in an
accident is bad enough however when
there's a language barrier it can be
extremely stressful to everyone that's
involved and encountering any person
that doesn't speak your language and
their in distress can really complicate
things and that's why officers have to
use all the tools at their disposal to
make sure the driver understands the
gravity of the situation while still
navigating cultural differen so today we
have an auto accident out of Fort Mars
Florida that involves one stationary
occupied vehicle at a red light and the
driver of the striping vehicle appears
to be intoxicated and when police made
contact with the woman we quickly notice
that there's definitely a language
barrier now at this point the officer is
attempting to get her paperwork and
driver's license and she does ask him to
repeat himself several times and this is
important because although she's walking
around and talking there's a possibility
that she could have multiple internal
injuries and she could be confused
because the front of her car is totally
destroyed and then the officer finds out
that the driver of the vehicle that was
struck they have no driver's license
with multiple people in the car this
just gets better and better now this
doesn't surprise me and please know that
officer John was not an insensitive
officer the woman of the Striking
vehicle begins to give her life Story
Probably trying to play on the emotions
of the police and the EMS Personnel
that's now in location and I've seen
this before and it will not work and now
the woman is talking a lot however she's
not really saying much about the
accident but she does refuse EMS and for
some reason she refuses to relinquish
the pills that she was carrying and she
also flat out refuses to give her name
now this might be me but at this moment
I started to believe that this woman can
comprehend more than she's letting on
and I think she knows that she might be
in some trouble for this accident but
bless that female officer she was so
patient with this woman showing care
while still exhibiting great
communication skills but I know you guys
saw it the woman's expression totally
changed when she heard criminal
investigation so we know she understands
what's going on and I have to say this
officer was tenacious and even after the
woman refused to do a field sobriety
test the officer makes the ingenious
decision to use Google Translate and the
woman then tries to deny understanding
her own language but she tells on
herself when she speaks the spoken
translation but at this point play time
is over and the officers let her know
that it's time to exit the vehicle and
they eventually have to remove her from
the car and place her under arrest and
while this is going on she did say many
English words including making threats
to police but lastly whether you're
visiting America or you just moved here
it's important to understand how the law
works and how local police handle these
situations whether you've had many
drinks or just two once you're on the
road and police stop you for your sake I
hope you're not over the legal limit
while in the hospital the suspect kicked
a nurse in the groin areaa while
attempting to get her medically cleared
she continued calling medical staff and
officers profanities the rest of the
night even when officers asked her to
provide a sample of her breath to which
the officers took her response as a no
she was charged with driving under the
influence of drugs or alcohol DUI
property damage battery on a registered
nurse and resisting with violence the
estimated damage she did to the vehicle
she hit was between $3,000 and $5,000
she is innocent unless proven guilty in
a court of law what
