I do. Oh, you do, do you? Being a smart ass all time to me, too. So, I can only imagine how you're speaking to an officer cuz you [music] know you have no damn manners. I'll make you have them because I'm not putting up with On an afternoon in October of 2025, an officer with [music] the New Smyrna Beach Police Department was standing on Pioneer Trail in Volusia County, Florida. He was investigating a hit-and-run crash. He was doing his job. And then, from down the road, a white 2024 [music] Ford Mustang came toward him. The officer raised his hand. He signaled the driver to stop. The Mustang did not stop. Hi there. Do you guys know whose white Mustang this is? Uh tell her to come out. Yeah, we'll come out. I'll I'll let him know in a second. Okay. My daughter's driving. Okay. Yeah, can you have him step out? Hi. Do I look familiar? Yeah, I know. Yeah. You're under arrest for changing on your back. You're You're under arrest for fleeing and eluding law enforcement. What? I walked out, flagged you down, told you to stop, and you rapidly accelerated away from me. What? Yes, ma'am. Wait, >> It's all on body cam. Nope, I walk I walked out of the road and was telling you to stop. >> out on the road. >> Yep, correct. I was telling you to stop. It's all on body cam. You're under arrest for fleeing and eluding law enforcement. Come here. Can I just call her mom? Yeah, you call her mom. Is that Is that on her phone right there? Uh I I can't see. >> 040604 911 central. What's your name? I have a female 10-15. Mom. Got a female for a search. And I'll be at 2793 Never Land Drive. I am a law enforcement officer, fully uniformed, telling you to stop because you're passing all those cars in a double yellow. You No, you passed multiple. The driver, a 19-year-old woman named Tara Ashley Palmieri, crossed into a marked [music] no-passing zone, passed another vehicle that was actually obeying the officer's signal. It doesn't matter. I You still fled law enforcement. And then you rapidly accelerated as you went by me. You didn't stop and do anything. Didn't even hit the brakes. No, I was going the speed limit across. >> No, you weren't. Can I talk to someone else? It was just me there. I don't know who you want to talk to. Who do you want to talk to? Maybe your supervisor? Yeah, he He's on his way. You're more than welcome to. That's fleeing and leading law enforcement, so. She can have a seat if she wants, okay? I'm calling the Get rid of that chair this second. She's not answering. Go and sit down for me. Do you have anything on you cuz I have a female that's going to come search you. >> No. Okay. Um Got it. Huh? Got it. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, no, I literally was at a clubhouse in Pioneer. I hear her car accelerating rapidly, so I look and she's in the middle of passing vehicles. Coming back over, I'm in the road. Hands up, telling her to stop. Clearly look like a law enforcement officer. No brakes, no no lights, nothing. She just keeps going, guns it. So, that's fleeing and eluding all day long. Can we go to court for this? Absolutely. You're going to be going to court no matter what. And you said you have it on dash I have it on body cam. Okay. Even better cuz I was right there. Oh, okay. So. What's your name? Tara Palmieri. Palmieri? Yes. T A R A is first name? P A L M I E R I P A L Yeah, I ran it. M I E R I P A L M I E R I E R I What's your date of birth? One officer was on the road in full uniform managing the scene and directing traffic. I know, I agree fleeing law enforcement is pretty ridiculous. I will absolutely agree. Hey Dad, they're arresting me for fleeing and eluding. I passed a double line and then a officer came I said I'm getting arrested because an officer said I was fleeing and eluding. I was driving on Pioneer Trail. He came out and ran in front of like he he half ran in front of like like he didn't even fully run in front of my car. And then um now I'm getting arrested for it because I parked at Mia's because he said I was fleeing, but he wasn't even behind me with lights on or anything. Doesn't matter. Don't need to be. Thank you. I absolutely don't need to have lights and sirens activated before a uniform law enforcement officer telling you to stop. Can I talk to him? Officer Rhea. Hey there, it's Officer Rhea from Huntington Beach Police Department. Okay, good good. So literally I'm in the middle of the road and I'm a fully uniform police officer telling her to stop. Not only did she not even apply the brakes, she rapidly accelerates away from from me to the point where I have to run get jump in my car which was parked several hundred feet away cuz I was investigating a hit-and-run crash and now all of a sudden she's gone nowhere. So then I obviously find the car and make contact with her. So I don't need to have lights and sirens on behind or anything like that. I'm a fully uniform police officer. I was giving clear hand signals to stop and I have a witness who was the victim of my hit-and-run crash who watched the entire thing. So you know, of course that meets statutory requirements for for fleeing and eluding. I I I don't mean to be a jerk about it or anything like that, but that's that's where we're at, okay? Um how far did she go from when you tried to gesture her to stop? >> Over a mile. I mean she's over at 2719 or 20 It did not take long. Officers located the white Mustang within minutes. It was parked in a residential neighborhood a short distance from the crash scene. We never lane drive and this was at clubhouse in Pioneer when I was telling her to stop her vehicle. So, she didn't try to pull off the road down the street, nothing like that. Uh so, what you got Have you contacted your mom yet? >> She won't answer. Okay, so So, you you'll probably be in in in jail for the weekend then. Yeah, okay. So. Because you you're not going to get get out right away. Why were you going that fast down Pioneer Trail? I I passed one car. I passed one car cuz he was going like 30 and I passed him. Okay, so when he when he waved you >> And it was a double yellow line, so I shouldn't have. Cuz I didn't He Hey, quiet. Quiet or you'll stay in that place for a week. Listen to me. Do you hear me? Yes, sir. Mom. Do you hear me? Yes. You're good. Appreciate it. So, why didn't you pull over at the time when he waved you down to stop? Why didn't you stop? Cuz it wasn't like he was I I didn't I really didn't even know. I just saw a person in white and black and then He was doing this. Pull over. >> one hand out and it wasn't like he was in front of my car like that. He was just He like literally was from the side, like completely to the side. I wasn't going 60. That's a hearsay. I was not going 60. From 30 to 60, I can't just do that when I'm in the other lane going over to the other side. He didn't. He didn't. He came over and found my car and pulled me over. >> on body cam, sir. I was almost in the roadway. The reason I didn't go all the way in the roadway is cuz she was going so fast. I didn't want to get hit by her cuz obviously I could see that she was not slowing down. What he thinks. Okay. Sir, you're being so cocky. I I'm actually an instructor for speed measurement, so smart I'm not laughing. I wouldn't be laughing. It's a felony. You committed a felony. Don't laugh at that. Yeah, I mean you you're being cocky. You're not even being polite. You're not even using manners. Well, this this this has been her the entire time, sir. I know. I That's what I don't get with her. It's just totally ridiculous. So, you you don't understand what you do. She stood in her family's garage and told police officers on a recording that would be viewed millions of times that she saw the officer and chose to ignore him. I do. Oh, you do? Do you? I do. Really? Like how how do you understand what you're doing cuz you're being a smart ass the whole time to me, too. So, I can only imagine how you're speaking to the officer. So, your nursing stuff is going to be screwed up now, too, because you don't have no damn manners. And you know what? It's going to take something like this [ __ ] you up now, and now you're done because you're so god damn arrogant and cocky the whole damn time when you could have talked to the officer normally. Be a real jerk, didn't you? >> What's his name? I know you, Tara. You can't [ __ ] me. He's got the body cam on. So, you just totally screwed your whole [ __ ] up. Nursing degree, everything. You just did it because you you're being Tara. Invincible. But guess what? You're going to spend a weekend in jail, and you'll see how invincible you are. And you know what? It might teach you a lesson now, maybe. You know? Cuz you just don't listen. Uh Kid, did you hear Dad? Yes, sir. All right. So, when you get to jail, you get one phone call. >> her instructions. So, you better hurry up and figure out who you going to call, you know, to to get you out of jail. So, when you call your mom and start at her and stuff, she going to make you stay. You call me, I'll make you too, because I'm not putting up with this I got to be just a perfect example of being a [ __ ] You know, you could have probably been polite to the officer from the get-go and you probably wouldn't be in the situation you are right now. And I bet if you asked the officer that, your cocky ass is probably what put you in that position right there. Yeah, I don't think so. All right, um she's getting searched right now by a female deputy. Uh do you have anything else for her? If not, we're going to we're going to load her up and do some paperwork, okay? Yes, sir. Ma'am. Tara Palmieri argued with the officers [music] as if she were the one in the right. She was not raised voice angry. She was not screaming or crying. She was calm, dismissive, and certain. 460 That's Omar. Yeah, that's fine. Can I put my shoes back on or just Do you want them back on? I don't know. Does she already search her and stuff? Okay. Thank you. Do you need your wallet for money to get to your mom to bail you out? Back to the PD and then I'll just jump in a pool car and take her to the branch after my paperwork. Uh so, I got to calculate it, but it'll probably be like 2,500. Okay. Okay. And then not That's not the full No, she has to do 10% of that. >> 10% of that, so So. And and and you're not going to be If you can post bail, you're not going to be sitting there all weekend. Do you have an older brother? Yeah, maybe. Yeah. So, I don't I don't know him well, but All right. Um unless you want to talk to Mom, we'll we'll go over here, okay? Actually, so you got jewelry on. Um do you want to leave that with them and not bring it into the jail like the earrings and stuff and your necklace? Cuz they're cuz they're going to take it all off when you get there. Can I Can I take it out? Yeah. So, well what do you want Is this What are you to her? Just friend, sister? Yes, I'm Do you want Do you want her to Do you want take everything off and leave it there? her? Okay, well we can keep the earrings in. Are the earrings going to get taken out? Yeah, but they'll they're not prisoner property at the branch jail. They'll Well, I don't I'd rather her have them. Okay. So, if I uncuff you, you're not going to take them out, you're not doing anything? All right. This is me being very nice by doing this, so. Yep. And then if you're cool with me, I'll put them in the front. That way you don't have to have your hands behind your back the entire time, all right? Hi, how are you? How are you? Oh, I'm good. Please, hi. This is Mia, Tara's friend. That's Mom. Oh, Mom. Yeah, she We have a problem. I'm going to let her talk to you. >> I'm getting arrested because I failed an officer. Um She's going to need somebody to post a bond. Anything else I can do for you? She's going to end up going off of 92. Voice guy branch jail. Is that in Daytona? Yep. >> [music] >> The officer responded that she had crossed into a no passing zone and accelerated past another vehicle [music] that was actually stopping as directed. All right. Bye, Mom. Anything else? Yeah, all of these. I hope you're fine. Like I said, I don't want anything to get misplaced and all of a sudden you're out jewelry or anything like that, so. So, go ahead and put your hands like this together up up front. There you go. Just a little bit further out. You're good. I'm being very nice. Look behind you. Can you these off? Well, I just I mean I don't think it would be too big of an issue. I'm double locking it that way they don't cinch down and rip your skirt. Yeah, thank you. We're going to go to his vehicle right here, okay? Yeah, this one right here. Any side you want her on? Yeah, I don't want you to sit on that seatbelt. I'm just going to buckle you in. Um if you just want to take her to the PD, I'll I'll head that way, too. Um and I'll just see if Dylan can sit here for the tow. Um but I appreciate it very much, so so appreciate it. You what? I'll get an arrangement to get in that pool car. So. Thanks, dude. What's that? My seatbelt. Oh. I just need a PD, one female. No, I'll throw it away. Oh, you're lucky. There's only like one person here. Normally if you see a Daytona PT van, you're going to be sitting here for a while. Kiera Ashley Palmieri was placed under arrest [music] and charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement, a third-degree felony in Florida. She was booked with a $2,500 bond. She posted bond and was released pending trial. Her court date was set for December 3rd, 2025. And by the time that day arrived, the body cam footage had already been viewed by more people than the population of the city where she was arrested.
