Deputies in Mosier, Illinois, pulled over a car for speeding and suspended license plates, but a closer look inside the vehicle revealed far more than meets the eye. >> Howdy. >> Oh [ __ ] >> Boo. >> Good. >> How are you guys? >> Good. So, they'll send you a letter. They'll Yeah, they'll send you a letter in the mail saying that you have to mail in proof of insurance. If you don't provide insurance, they'll suspend your plates. >> Is it through Green County? Do you know? Cuz they just did that. >> I have no idea. >> It's usually through Secretary of State. >> Well, but I mean the tickets through Green County. So, whenever your brother had the vehicle, it was registered to you still? >> That was registered. Yeah. I bought it. >> Okay. Yeah. But these plates come back to you. >> It's my old vehicle. My other vehicle. >> So, you took the plates off your old vehicle. Put them on here. >> I found this. Yes. I did all my insurance. >> You did that. And you did all this online, you said. Okay. Well, if you can find the registration. So, right now you're driving around with the wrong plates on your car, which can get it towed. And it's better to get caught with no plates on your car than the wrong plates on your car. Does that make sense? >> Yeah, but I did it all mine. She said that they filed for an uh for a lost title and she transferred the plates over online. So, I'm not buying. >> No, I'm not. So, because you have this right now and it's not signed, it means it's an open title, which means you're actively committing a felony. And and for reference, you guys ever buy a car and you don't sign it and you get caught? It is a class 4. >> Yes. Because it's it's it's considered tax evicted. Apart from that, do you guys have anybody that will be able to come pick you guys up? >> Wait, I got to go to work. >> Well, we have to take the plates by minimum. Not only that, so the plates are suspended. They come back to a different vehicle. We'll have to take the plates. I don't know who told you it was okay to put those plates on the vehicle, but that's not that's not the right thing to do. And if you are going to drive with the wrong plates or no plates on the car, drive with no plates on the car. You can still get towed. However, it's a lesser charge. Does that make sense? >> Would you have any issue with her us throwing her cleaning [ __ ] in like the trunk? That way she can take her work stuff with her for a ride and stuff. >> No, I have to go to work. Like I have to no matter who picks me up, I still have to go to work. So, both I field tested both of them and they both tested positive for me. >> There was stuff inside of it. >> Yeah. I prom I promised to God on my kids. So this also did test positive for meth. Now, I will say that is extremely positive and it's more than likely going to come back positive this meth. But these are just field test kits. This is going to get sent off to the crime lab where they will actually analyze it and they'll be able to say whether it was actually meth or amphetamine. >> So, am I going to be charged with it >> if it comes back as methamphetamine >> from the crime lab? >> Probably. >> But I'm not going to be the one doing it's going to be up to the state's attorney. So, yeah. So, you you'll hop in with us. >> Conclusion. What began as a routine traffic stop in Mosier, Illinois, quickly developed into a much more serious investigation. [music] Deputies discovered suspended and mismatched plates, documentation issues, and ultimately suspected drug evidence inside the vehicle. Although Heather denied knowing that the suspected methamphetamine belonged to her, the evidence was submitted to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab.
