Back when I was conducting traffic stops, I would always try to be fair. But every now and then you come across someone who thinks the law just doesn't apply to them. Ma'am, I don't have to explain anything to you. >> I don't want to hear it. >> Ma'am. Ma'am. I'm going to fight you. I'm going to fight you when I get out of this car. I'm going Ma'am, you're resisting. You're resisting. Stop it. Officers in Orlando stopped the vehicle after noticing its tints were too dark. But you know what? That's not the only issue. Can I see your driver's Can you please lower down your windows? All of them? Thank you. You got a license? Thank you. Is your car registered to you? This car's not registered at all. Do you have a driver's license? How is that a driver's license? I got my first aid. Yeah, or can you Can I have your driver's license, too? Can I have your registration, ma'am? What's with the attitude? The attitude is crazy. You're scared of what? Scared of what? Tell me what you're scared of. Why? >> Uh-oh. Because what? What happened? Don't know what she's scared of. You're scared because I pulled you over. The tag is not registered. The vehicle is not registered. Your tints are dark, so I don't know who's in the car. I attempted to pull you over there and you were just driving. So Of course you did. I'm serious. All right. Just turn off your car. Turn off your car. Relax. Relax. It's not It's not that deep. I think you have an attitude. Can I have your 911? I pulled over. I didn't try to run from you or anything. You put my lights over there. I didn't see you. It's okay. I apologize. Okay. So, you're going to find me your registration? Ma'am. Can you lower your windows for me, please? This is what I have. So, I got have any issues about what just happened or a little transaction, you talk to my sergeant over there, okay? If you're on your feels. Sergeant's already at scene. He was rude, though. Do you think he was rude? I don't think I was rude. What happened? He was just mean. Okay, so I don't necessarily think that he was rude. He was very firm. Uh his attitude was on point. The fact of the matter is that you got tinted windows that are super dark and [music] you don't have your registration stuff, man. I mean, I got to conduct a full investigation now. I think cuz she just said that you didn't see his lights go further on, but she just told him I wasn't trying to run in front of him unless she pulled to the side, but I didn't Okay. Was the car registered to you? Yeah. Got to check the VIN. It was registered to you? Is this a new You just bought this car? >> It's a good thing that the sergeant had seen. Trying to build that rapport with the uh passenger. That thing's dark. Holy yeah. You know that's That's like That's like 35% or something like that, bro. Okay, so now we got an eye problem. She didn't see my lights. Don't talk to Yo, yo, don't talk to me like I'm your man. Don't talk to me like I'm your man cuz I'm not your man. Don't talk to me like I'm your man cuz I'm not your man. I'm not talking to you like that. Lower your voice. I I didn't even yell at you. Now I'm yelling cuz I'm mad cuz you're rude. You're very rude. Let's be cordial. This [ __ ] is all recorded. Yes, I I want to record you cuz you're rude. I used to Do you think Do you think I was trying to ask you a question. I'm an amateur. What? Don't talk to me like I'm your man. I'm 5'6" and 190. I was supposed to calm down and you guys say it's a problem. Police pull me over. I wasn't even doing nothing. I ran by my boyfriend's car. Three cops. Can't even see the AS line here where it's supposed to be at. Okay, here's 40% You can't tint a meter that. No, but these I don't I don't really know if I have one. I mean all of all of them are way too dark anyway. Okay, so the partner is doing a good job explaining. I probably I probably Oh, we got a knife problem. All right, what's your first First off, I'm just going to let you know now. You're going to continuously get pulled over because of your tint. This tint should never be just like how our patrol car is. It should never go past this line right here. You see that black Good job, Sarge. Yep, you should not Your tint should never be past that line. And we're supposed to be able to see it from the outside. I can't even see the AS where the line is right here. There's a little the letters that say AS line. I can't even see that. you're definitely going to get pulled over by FHP nonstop. And the kind of car you're driving, I'm going to tell you now if you will get pulled over. And he said, "What's with the attitude?" I said, "I don't have attitude. I'm scared of you." Okay, so absent the attitude from the original officer that pulled her over, look, you got the sergeant explaining to her exactly what it is about tint and what does she should have. You got the partner officer. You're building that communication and that rapport, which is very, very important because we [music] don't know what's going to happen next. We don't know if she's going to continue to be somewhat of an attitude and yelling towards the officer, but let's see what happens. I said, "I'm scared." That's why she was scared. I was like, "Just cuz I got pulled over." Okay. And then he was just And then when he just came up here, I was He said he He said he tried to pull me over. I didn't see I just seen him right now. I said, "I didn't see you." He said, "Don't talk to me like I'm your man." Yeah, I was scared for that part. I don't know how to talk to him like that. Talking to him like that. I don't know a person or a police officer. I talked to my man crazy. That's not nice. That's very nice. Well, I would definitely address it when we're done here. Okay. Okay. How long ago? 10 12 It's been It's been for a while. That's why I got scared. I already told her she said she can't have somebody come out now, but she'll have somebody come out later. I told her she can call back and we'll get a free response with her to clear the house. I mean, it's good for a reason. Your your license is not only suspended, it's been canceled, okay, since last year of 2022. January. On top of that, you're driving recklessly in a unregistered motor vehicle. Why don't you tell me how I was driving? Ma'am, I don't have to explain anything to you. >> I don't want to hear it. Ma'am. At this point, I don't have to explain anything to you. You have to listen to me. All right? I'm done talking to you. Okay, here we go. Hands on the steering wheel. Okay, okay, I'm putting my phone over here. Let's go. You see how he's talking? You see how he's talking to me? Like what did I do? Did I say anything wrong? He said I'm done. What did I do to him? I'll explain it to you. Well, from where I see it is what you actually did is caused the situation to escalate just a bit, and granted, his attitude and his approach could have been different, but in the end of all this, he has to continue his investigation and he has to affect an arrest. Sir, did you see that? Okay. I know there's a problem. Ultimately, ma'am, you know you can't be driving. So, you shouldn't be behind the wheel of the vehicle. Okay, so that's problem one. Problem two is you got stopped because of how how dark your tint >> how he is. He's very good. >> It is what it is, okay. Your feelings, got it. Come on, let's go to the car. See, hold on, hold on. No, it's not hold Hold on, hold on. I'm telling her something. You're resisting. I'm telling her something. You're resisting now. No, I'm trying to tell her something about my stuff. So, why don't you stop? Listen. I have my phone. Don't resist. Shut up and get in the car. Well, you're I'm going to find you. I'm going to find you when I get the [ __ ] out of jail. I'm going to find you. You're resisting. Stop resisting. >> out who the [ __ ] you I'm not resisting. I'm standing here. >> just stop. I'm going to charge you with Okay, let let me pat you down and make sure you don't have anything on you, and then we'll talk about it. Hold on to this. Widen your stance for me. California Good job on the sergeant for intervening. It's starting escalating. He is a little tense. Uh, he's being a little bit too firm considering what your job should be is to de-escalate the situation. But then again, we can't really put ourselves in his shoes because we don't know exactly what it is that he's trying to accomplish in terms of trying to get her in handcuffs, which [music] he did, and get her in the vehicle so he can continue his investigation. Can someone else take me instead of him? Unfortunately not. He's the one that's arresting you. It's okay the camera can be on. All right, do you want your friend to drive your car? No one's driving the car. I need to tell her about my house, about my keys. Okay, tell me what you need. >> About my phone, she don't know my passcode. >> Okay, tell me what you want to tell her. Or you Or I can have a walk over here and Please, I can walk over here. I'm just trying to talk before he snatched me out of there. He's rude. Okay, one second. You have any tape? Yes, absolutely. Roll the window down so her friend can figure out what she wants to do with her um property. Okay, what's your name? Sierra King. I have um She took my license the other day. Okay. We want separate cars. Um so, we're going to Do you have somebody you can call to come pick you up? Um I'm literally down the street. Wait, what are you doing right now? Cuz here's the thing, car's not going to be driven cuz there's nothing that's registered on it. So, you need to just start working on >> What's your down the street? Can we have her ID right now? Oh, I think he does. Do you have her ID? Yeah, I do. Um Sierra. Yes, ma'am. Okay, she wants to tell you something about her house. She said her phone is on or something else. She has eye problems, do you get it? She cannot see. She has eye problems. That's not my problem. I didn't I didn't cite her for anything like that, Sarge. Um I'm taking her into jail because she wants to resist without violence. She's been on suspended license for over a year and her car is unregistered. I'm sorry. It's in secure storage, my sergeant. Okay, what we don't know is why the sergeant went to the body worn camera to, I believe, trying to turn it off so they can have that conversation of that counseling session. There's no need to do that considering that she did say she's going to address the fact [music] that he's being a little loud, a little boisterous, if you will. He's continuing his investigation. There's nothing unprofessional about the officer besides the fact that, yes, his attitude and maybe his approach could have definitely [music] changed, okay? Huh? Yes, ma'am. We're searching slash inventorying it cuz it's being towed. And the search and the search is the search is incident after arrest. It gives us probable cause to search the vehicle because you're hanging out. Okay. Is there anything in the car that we need to be concerned about? Okay, it's not a big deal then. All we do is we go through it. We have our cameras on the whole time. We're inventorying to make sure there's not anything of value in that because when the tow truck gets here, we notify them of anything in there that you don't want her to take with her. Okay, and can I ask you a question? What's up? After all this happens, can I can I get my car out? Yeah, you are So, it's not registered. So, it's an unregistered vehicle. So, you have to go down there, you have to you're going to have to prove ownership of the vehicle when you go down there to the tow yard. So, once you get out, you have to prove that the vehicle is yours. Huh? All right. Because there's that license plate that's on there right now does not come back to that vehicle. It's not registered to that vehicle. Okay? So, you can't be operating the vehicle on the roadway. Such an outstanding explanation by the partner officer. Look, a good practice with all law enforcement agencies is to always have two cops at scene because when one cop tends to be a little bit more firm and aggressive, you always got the other cop that can kind of calm that situation down. So, that's very, very good on Orlando PD's part. Echo 91. 51 to jail. 1012 Fox shots. 1015 climatology. One second, I'm on the radio. 54622 Okay, so per policy and this has been in existence for decades is whenever you have a transportation of a female, you always have to notify dispatch of the time it starts with the mileage >> [music] >> and then to the destination. You're also going to let dispatch know when you arrive at the destination. The longest way to get here, right? But like driving like that on purpose, stupid [ __ ] Literally did that on purpose. Echo 9197. Secure weapons. 104 Okay, so they arrived at the EJ facility. 54628 Huh? What else? You're driving me crazy. What is the proper Officer, I need I need my dress pulled down. I'm not touching you. So, walk like this. I'm not touching you. Walk like this. You I'm not touching you because then you're going to be like, "Oh, this officer did this. This camera's rolling." >> Obviously, show me my >> you. Turn around and walk. Turn around and walk. I'm not touching you. You understand? I'm not looking at you. I'm not touching you. Fix yourself. >> That's fine. Camera's rolling. It's okay. I'll walk with my feet out. That way I can see my Okay, so this is another important part of this incident is the fact that, you know what? I'm not touching you. I'm not looking at you. Keep [music] walking. Because if the officer's too nice, then it's going to be very inappropriate. But if he's too firm and he has that much of an attitude and it looks like he's angry, then you know what? It's unprofessional. So, there's no winning in situation. But [music] again, the main goal, we got to get her into the jail so we can begin the booking procedures. I'd like to see my You want to This one? Okay. So, now we got a female jailer to make sure she does another pat down search before we begin the booking procedures. What? She what? Me. Oh. Okay, so in the end, she was charged with resisting officers without violence and driving a motor vehicle without a license. I'm going to leave you with this because when I was a patrol sergeant back in the days, I used to always tell my officers, you know what? It's all about your attitude, your approach, your disposition, and your demeanor. That's what's going to kind of conduct the whole investigation, especially in a traffic stop, right? Is there anything that he could have done different to make this a little bit more smoother and and I guess more enjoyable? I don't know. But, what we do know is that the sergeant did have an informal counseling session at scene. It's taken care of. And I hope that there's a lesson learned as it comes to doing police work with all this, okay? [music] Please be safe out there and we'll see you on the next break, okay?
