Understand, you get down to Florida and you know, you you get rid of your phone cuz you're worried it's being tracked. And there's a lot of things Ashley that that I know that that I still ask the questions, but I already know the answers. >> that. >> So >> I get that. But like I said >> On February 27th, 2025 in Polk County, Wisconsin, Ashley Monn was brought in for questioning in connection with a fire that destroyed a rental home on West White Ash Drive in Balsam Lake. Spoiler details are in the video description and the full results of all charges in the case are laid out at the end of the video. >> Basically, what I'm what I'm already telling you is what I can tell you right now. We can't make any promises um in regards to anything um or anyone, but they're very willing to listen to us. And we've worked with them before and so >> [snorts] >> um a lot of times our recommendations are highly highly regarded um with when we talk to them. Um it is ADA Stillen >> No. >> Assistant District Attorney Stillen is the district the Assistant District Attorney that I'm working with on the case. I had talked about that last night a little bit. Um and I've worked with them before. I think Ralph has worked with [clears throat] them before on a couple cases. So he's very willing to listen and work with us. So with that being said, um you know, what what you want to tell us is up to you. Um the more honest and truthful you are, the more we are able to legitimately fight for you with the DA's office. Okay? So um that's kind of where we're at. Um >> I mean I so I totally get um why you know, I understand I really don't want to drag this on [snorts] any further or like put any more of you guys' effort and time into something that's like, "Hey, this could be resolved. I could go to prison or I could just do the right thing." And then it's, you know, you're bad so you did something wrong, you know. That's what I want to happen. >> Yep. >> But I don't want to make it easy for you guys and then make it super hard for my family and friends that just love me and that's all they want to see. >> Mhm. >> This person. I don't want You know, so like I'm not saying I'm not willing to completely just tell you everything you want to know. No, absolutely. I want to do the right thing. I do. I do feel bad. I'm tired. Okay. Forgetting even wasting you guys' time, but I don't want to help you if you're not willing to help them. You know what I mean? Cuz it's not about me. It's nothing to do with me. It's just them. >> Absolutely. And I'm telling you right now and take it how it is, but I made a promise to you that night that [snorts] you came here, right? I promised you that you were not going to go to jail no matter what you told me. I kept that promise and I'm going to tell you right now I was battered in that room for not arresting you right at that time, okay? But I made a promise and I don't make promises lightly. So, what I'm telling you right now is I'm promising the only promise that I can give you is that I will do what I can with the DA's office to make sure that what you're looking for, if you're honest with me, that I'm doing my best to look at what you want, right? So, you don't want family charged. You don't want Logan, you don't want Tyler, you don't want mom, you don't And I'm my only promise that I can make to you cuz I can't promise that they won't get charged cuz I don't have control over that. But what I can promise is if you and I sit down here today, we go over stuff and you're honest with me and we get a good understanding of what happened and where everybody was and whatnot, then I can promise I can promise you that I can go to the DA's office and talk to them and try to work with them and argue the best that I can. Does that make sense? >> Indeed. >> Because that's the only promise I can make. I can't make any promises that someone won't get charged, but I'm not looking to screw over everybody. I'm not looking to screw you over. That's not what I'm here for. >> myself over so like and I you know, if anything I screwed her so like that's the only people the homeowner and the insurance company whatever. Like that's the only people who really got screwed. I just wasted I mean Right. It's just I don't want my mistakes to >> Mhm. >> [clears throat] >> reflect on them. Yeah, absolutely. And I'm I am willing to work with that. I have every respect in the world for someone who will take accountability. And like I said, I made a promise to you that night. I'm good on my promises, okay? I don't make them lightly. >> And she took a beating from other cops. >> I took a beating that night. I literally took a beating in that office. Everyone that was in there was saying just [ __ ] arrest her now. I'm like nope, I made a promise. >> No, I'm sorry for that. >> So, no. I I don't make I'm a big girl. I got my big girl pants on, right? I can take it. Okay? I made a promise though. And that's why I say I don't make them lightly. [snorts] Okay? So, I'm telling you right now that my promise to you, the only promise that I can make has nothing to do with charges or anything, but it has to do with the fact that I will work with the DA's office. I will even contact probation. Okay? And let them know because as of right now, you've been cooperative with us. We had a good day yesterday. Everything went about as good as it could possibly go, right? And I think deep down you want to get some of this off your chest, right? >> [snorts] >> You want to get some of it off your chest. I think it'll be a big relief because I don't think it's something you're telling and blabbing to everybody. So, plus you want to do the right thing. You know, you talked to her a lot yesterday. You want to do the right thing about getting your life back on the on track and getting things straight, getting this out of the way so you can move on. So, my promise to you is the only promise I can make that I will do whatever I can to work with the DA's office and probation. >> And David said he's willing to listen. >> Absolutely, yeah. >> I'll take anything I can get. >> No. I just don't know. I've never like >> Mhm. >> I don't I just like >> Good. >> I don't really know what to say. >> [snorts] >> So, let's just let's just start let's just start here, okay? >> [snorts] >> That night at the bar, okay? You were upset. You thought that Alyssa called on you. >> It was Ricky that called. >> Ricky called? >> I think so. >> I and I I don't without looking at the things. I know it wasn't Alyssa. >> She wasn't even in the bar at the time. >> Yeah, okay. >> And I was super like like I don't know. I was just mad at them. You know, like him. I mean, I was mad at him. Yeah. And I was just really really really drunk. >> Yeah. >> Really drunk. And I really want to say I don't remember everything. I don't remember everything. I don't and that's just what it is because I was that drunk. I hadn't been sober for so long. >> Okay. >> So, that's [snorts] where it really sucks because I don't remember the details that I should remember. And I'm trying to think in my head what And then I'm like I'm making scenarios up in my head that I don't even know It's like I'm fabricating stories in my head that aren't even real. You know? So, it's like I don't know. I can't give you the 100% I did this. I did this. I did this. I didn't have a clear enough mind to remember who brought I even took home. I don't even know what time it was. And I don't know. >> Okay. >> How about this? You remember being mad. >> I remember being mad. REMEMBER I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH LOGAN THE WHOLE TIME. SO, HE would probably be able to tell me more than I can. >> And we >> And I mean that. >> Mhm. And Logan did the right thing and talked to us. He didn't throw you under the bus or anything. >> I don't know. >> No. And he said you were pissed. >> I don't even remember. Like >> And Ashley, here's the deal. And everybody that we have talked to, they love you. >> I don't [snorts] >> Like they love [laughter] YOU. >> I FEEL LIKE SUCH A BAD PERSON BECAUSE I DON'T know what I yelled at Logan. If he were to tell me, I would trust what he told me. But like I couldn't tell you. >> Okay. >> From my own point, I don't know. >> OKAY. >> AND ME AND him never talked about it really. So, like he's told me what I said on the phone. I don't even remember. Like I don't know exactly what I was yelling at him. I don't know what I was saying when I was mad. I just remember being mad and leaving from the cops. >> Okay. >> And I I think I was on the phone with him the whole time. >> Okay. >> Mhm. >> But but you So, you you left the bar in your truck. And in that white truck. Yep. That white That white truck. Yep. Yep. Um >> And you were alone. >> In the truck. >> Yep. And and you went to Alyssa's. [snorts] What What exactly do you remember when you got to Alyssa's? >> Cuz I wanted to smoke meth. Like I was really drunk and I was pissed off and I just wanted to smoke meth. >> So, had you smoked meth at all that day? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. So, so you you had alcohol in your system and you had meth in your system at that time already. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, you go to Alyssa's house. Does she And I'm not looking to throw Alyssa under the bus, but did she have something there that you were aware of that you were going to get something from there? >> She was getting high at the bar, and that's why I was watching the bar for her. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> So, I was going to get high was also, but we couldn't both be outside of the bar. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Okay. Um and so, did [snorts] you smoke meth that night at the bar? >> No, because I had to watch the bar, so she could go sleep. >> Okay. And then the cops came. >> And then the cops came. So, I didn't know what time it was. I didn't know in my head. I wanted to go smoke meth. I wasn't supposed to smoke meth with her outside by the bar. >> Okay. >> So, I was at where her house >> Okay. >> In my mind, that's where I was at. >> Okay. >> And then I left there and I don't I remember Logan came. He got [clears throat] me at my mom's. And we smoked meth at my mom's and Little Lisa and Alex came to my house and we smoked meth then. And she stayed at my house [laughter] and Alex and that's what I I was like get Once I smoked meth, I sobered up and then cuz that pulls you out of >> Mhm. [snorts] >> And then I remember like the conversation we had and I told her really bad that her house burned down. And I was like go back out of the public eye of all things. And then I gave her a bunch of my clothes and I was like And and I couldn't [laughter] remember really what happened when I was there. >> Okay. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> And Logan just kept saying that it [clears throat] was my fault and I'm like well, I don't know. >> Okay. Okay. >> So, I don't know. >> Okay. Um >> [snorts] >> Do you remember having a conversation at um the the day I think it was the day [snorts] after you had a bunch of people over to the house. Maybe it was a couple days after. Um but you had some people over to the house. I think Dalton, Tyler some other people. >> Um My neighbors always come over. Like my neighbors just come over and we drink here. >> Okay. Um and that's Jen. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I mean, she told me that I had AIDS. >> I mean >> Yeah. >> She She what? She said you had to AIDS? >> Yeah. She's She's >> So, she's a friend, but not she's not your friend. >> She's not my friend. She's not my friend. She's actually not my friend. She We got into a huge argument and we're not We don't even associate at all. Yes. I was surprised she even called me to tell me the cops were there because she gets So, I went to the casino. This is a couple days or so, like a week afterwards or whatever. I went to the casino and I told Jen cuz Jen has a key to my apartment and Dalton was actually staying at my apartment and I told um Jen and Dalton and I was like, "I'm going to the casino, you know, whatever." So, I went to the casino, got a room for the night. I don't have to like ask permission from anyone. I'm an adult. I can do what I want. >> Mhm. >> [clears throat] >> And then I didn't come home that night. I got a room rate of like $49, so I stayed at the casino cuz I can. I'm an adult. I pay for my apartment. I pay for my rentals, whatever. Don't question me. Don't don't think. I didn't have a charger in my truck cuz someone stole it. I don't know. And I don't know who it was. I don't Regardless, my phone was dead. I don't need to check in, right? So, the next day I show up home and Jen was like peek out the door, see that pulled her in. I'm like, "Oh, hey Jen." You know, she's like goes up in her room. I'm like, she's acting weird and then Dalton like I get up and like I turn my phone on and all of a sudden like Logan blew my phone up. And Dalton blew my phone up. I'm like, and then I was like, "What the fuck?" And then like I called Dalton and he's like, "Well, Jen told me and we called the cops on you." I'm like, "You called the [ __ ] cops on me? Why?" She's like, "Well, she called him." And then I went over to her apartment. I was like, "Come out of the apartment." I'm like, "What the [ __ ] Jen? Why are you Why would you know?" And like find out that she came over to my apartment with Dalton sitting in my apartment calling the cops on me cuz they're worried about what I'm doing cuz I'm gone for 24 hours. I'm like, "Dude, don't. I don't need this." Like I'm And I was super mad at her. Like that's Don't just come to my apartment talk [ __ ] about me with my friend. Like I just got kicked out of that very moment and like I stopped talking to Jen. >> Okay. >> And now she's running her mouth around saying that she said Dalton had AIDS and [ __ ] Like I'm like, I don't know >> Is that when he took your key back from her? >> She still has the key to my apartment. >> Or did you change the locks? >> the locks, yeah. >> You changed the locks? >> the locks cuz Logan and Jen and I keep my apartment >> So, you changed the locks at that point. Okay. >> I felt like everyone was out to get me and like I just >> Sure. >> But so so like a like maybe it was like a week after, but you had you had Dalton and Tyler and a couple gals over at your house drinking partying whatever. >> I don't know that's not exactly I had Tyler >> Yeah, I had a conversation with Dalton about the fire. >> No. >> Not at all? >> That's I had Tyler and Jen at my apartment and the cops ended up coming because I didn't Jen called the cops on me and the cops came there and I was on probation and I was drinking and I answered the door I told the cop I was drinking I didn't have any I didn't I stopped talking to them right after that because of the stupid [ __ ] he was saying I never once had them over they were kicked out and I didn't talk to them after that so like that's not true. >> Okay. Okay. >> But I mean Logan and Jen and Dalton and all them like they all They're I don't >> Everyone's making up their own story. >> Everyone's making up their own story and I am not I am not I'm not I told you what what did I don't that conversation has not been told anyone like why would I tell them I did say but I don't even remember doing it so like that's >> Yep. >> But like I said the [ __ ] they got me done I I can't even imagine the stories they have going right now about me because I just cut them all off so it's like [ __ ] all this everyone's against me you know and like they especially like I did everything for Jen and it's just >> Okay. >> Yeah. Sorry man I wouldn't I wouldn't trust anything they said at all. If anything bring them back and see how their stories change from here like what else they know like I'd love to hear it. >> Right. Right. >> So that's not true. >> So let's go back to to the house right best you can remember you got there where did you go? So not jumping ahead just taking it one step at a time. You get to the house where do you go? Where do you park? >> I just pulled over towards the house. >> Okay. And then you get out you go in where do you go in? >> The basement door. >> Basement door okay. >> It was dark and I don't I there was a light on. >> Okay. >> It was really cold in there. >> Okay. >> I could see my breath. >> Okay. >> There was nowhere to sit. >> Nowhere to sit in the basement there? >> Nowhere to sit. >> Okay. Did you try to start a fire in the in the stove at all to try and warm it up? >> I think I looked in the stove. >> Looked in the stove? Okay. >> remember there was anything in there thinking that there was ashes. I don't remember. >> Okay. Okay. And like I said, we're just taking it one step at a time. So, just real just real easy. Okay. Okay. Okay. Um >> So, I was using >> a lighter or something? >> I was using my phone. >> Okay. Phone. Okay. Um >> I don't know what I was doing. >> So, then you go upstairs. What do you do when you're upstairs? >> I don't remember going upstairs. >> You don't remember going upstairs? >> remember going upstairs. >> Did you go in the bathroom? >> I don't think so. >> Didn't go in the bedroom? >> I don't think so. I don't remember that. >> Okay. Um And then so, you're downstairs and um Do you remember anything Were you Were you smoking? Did you find anything there? >> I wasn't there that long. I think I didn't know I was there at all. >> Okay. >> I don't know. I think I think I Logan was on his way or something and I just figured like I don't remember. >> Okay. >> I just don't remember. I wasn't there that long. >> Okay. And then you go basically screaming and tearing out of the house. >> I don't think I was even mad when I left. >> Okay. >> I was just mad kicking the car. >> Okay. >> But talking to Logan, like I was totally fine. I think I mean, I really don't remember anything up until like getting in my apartment, I guess. >> And talking to Logan, you sound like you were pretty upset. >> I mean I don't remember exactly the conversation. I don't even I couldn't tell you exactly what we were talking about. >> Okay. >> Could you have been pissed because she was also smoking meth and you wanted to get high and she was banning you at the bar to deal with that guy who was being an [ __ ] to you? >> I mean Yeah, I could have been mad about that. >> Mhm. >> Do you remember starting the fire? >> No. >> Not at all. Um Do you remember grabbing >> I don't >> a paper towel? Anything like that, starting it on fire? >> No. >> Do you remember having a conversation about burning the house down, anything like that? >> No. >> Okay. Um >> Is it feasible to say that when you were angry and you were on the phone or anything with Logan that you told him that you put started some paper towel on fire? Cuz you don't even remember. Is it feasible that >> I don't but I can't I can't say that that's true cuz I'm not going to trust I mean what he what he think I wouldn't think he would tell me that cuz he that's the first time I'm hearing about paper towel room. >> Okay. >> So >> Okay. Um you had said earlier that you would trust what he what he said. >> But he didn't say that to me though. So no it's just like yeah I never I mean we never had that conversation so like it was never brought I mean >> Sure. >> Logan's really mad at me right now because I cut him off just like I cut him off just like I cut Dalton off and he's been like super mad about it cuz he has to be there for me and I just keep like it's not >> Let me be honest with you. When like yesterday [snorts] we had a fantastic I mean good as days we could have had, right? And part of that reason is you've been sober for a long time. But every [clears throat] one in your inner circle including your mom and everybody talk about there's Ashley sober and there's Ashley >> Right. >> intoxicated. >> I don't I don't trust myself drinking. So like I'm just I'm saying I'm not saying I'm not. I don't want to >> No. You just hear me out. So, people are afraid of you. >> Yeah. >> That's good, bad, or otherwise. People like when she gets pissed off when she's drinking, they don't know what you're capable of, right? And Logan in his statement to us talked about that. That he is afraid of what your reaction would be if he told what Ashley was actually saying. And unfortunately, we found a shitload of math and those. And so, at that point he felt that he needed to tell the truth. And he [clears throat] said he had this kind of And he wasn't that detailed, but it made the most sense of And it's understandable that you didn't remember what was going cuz you were intoxicated. That you were pissed off. You were pissed off because she abandoned the bar to deal with the guy that was being an [ __ ] to you. He didn't talk so much about the math, but that you were more pissed off that you just never did come back. Or not you, but um the other >> Alyssa. >> Alyssa never came back. That she left you at the bar for a long time and he would And it was a Ricky was just being a complete [ __ ] to you. >> Mhm. >> And you were just raging mad about that. And you were raging all the way up to the house and you were He could hear you walking around. And you had told him, "Yeah, I I was pissed off and I lit some paper towel at the base of the stairs and that's where we were able to prove the fire started. Right where he said you said you lit the paper towel on fire. >> I don't know what he's telling me this. Why wouldn't he tell me >> Cuz he's scared. >> Why wouldn't he tell me Why wouldn't he tell me to do the right thing? Why wouldn't he tell me that >> He's scared. Well, no. He You didn't say anything about it and he couldn't tell what you were doing cuz you were on the phone, but later on you had said something about lighting the paper towel when you were pissed off. And he's He's scared. >> sober? >> No. But you were scared. He was He's scared. >> Ashley, Ashley, there's a lot of people that we've talked to that and Logan included who and even Alyssa they're not looking to to throw you under the bus. They still have a love for you. Okay? And I know you think Logan is pissed at you and he probably is. >> He's nervous as hell. >> But but he's also still there are still feelings because he knows the kind of person you are when you're sober. But he also knows the kind of person you are and that's the person he worries about. >> Okay, so where do we go from here? Because I can't tell you exactly what happened. Like I said, I really don't remember. I don't I don't remember. I don't know if my brain blocked it out or if it was cuz I was that drunk because I don't remember. >> Okay. >> I can't I'm sorry. And but I'm saying if the DA is willing to work with me, I will give him a guilty plea cuz it was my fault. >> Right. Right. >> Right? >> Mhm. >> If he's willing to work with me. If he's not, then like I guess I guess he has to I guess. I guess and like he's going to have to give me give me I'll see what we can plead out to. You know, like I don't know what kind of fight there is here cuz there is no fight when I know that there is something I did wrong. >> So let's let's move on from the fire itself. >> [snorts] >> Okay? Let's move on from that. >> Um >> So so afterwards um you you've talked to Alyssa a few times, you talked to Logan a few times. Um you decide to buy this camper. >> I told him the whole story yesterday about the camper. >> Yeah. And I didn't I didn't >> I didn't do this running to Florida like I never even intended in my mind. >> Yeah. Okay. >> I was sober when I bought it. I mean, I've been sober. Went to work, went to my PO, told her what happened. I told her exactly the same thing I told you. She has it written down >> Okay. >> cuz I had a I had to make What do you call it? Where you get like a >> You get a written statement or whatever. >> She got the same and I You you could read that statement. It's better I would never intended to run away from any of this, but I I have I got This is a lot of pressure. >> Yeah. >> Everyone's mad at me. My neighbor don't trust me because she called the cops on me for going to the casino. >> Yep. >> She's Her and Donald are sitting just in my own apartment talking bad about me and that really upset me because like that's just I'm I'm letting you live here for free, Donald. Don't have my neighbor over and call the cops on me. Like every time the cops are called, it's never good for me. I'm on probation. I'm not doing anything wrong at that point. I didn't deserve that. >> Yep. >> So I cut them out of my life. I just stopped talking to them. So I never had them over for drinks. And then that's all fabricated because Logan is friends with Jen. So Jen and her they hang they do whatever they're talking. So you know that he told her that story and then she made up that she heard it from me. But it never was never I mean and this is what I'm saying like these and I just know that. I just feel like nobody's on my side on any of this and like it's not >> Well, so let's go over what we talked about yesterday and we were just talking about how you ended up in Florida and what >> Yeah, that's exactly the truth. >> So what we talked about is that you had found a screaming deal on Marketplace or something like >> And my Facebook will confirm all that. >> Yep. And you went down to the Dells and when you were down there buying this thing you spent the night down there. >> Cuz it was late and you don't trust the tires. I didn't know that. >> Well, you had been down there more than It was more than just driving to the Dells and then driving back. >> I wasn't supposed to be there. Cuz that's supposed to work these days. >> Okay. So you're down there and while you're down there you get a contact from >> From Jen saying, "Hey, the cops just kicked your door in and whatever else." >> come home, she said. >> And that's when you went >> I was like, "Fuck >> [ __ ] it. I'm I'm I'm halfway to Florida. I'm just going to keep going." >> Well, I don't know anyone anywhere >> Yep. >> And I knew I wasn't going to run out of money, you know, cuz I didn't know that I was going to get 6 miles a [ __ ] gallon getting down there. So I ran out of money. >> So you just went >> It wasn't There was no like It wasn't planned. And my roommate didn't even know what I was doing at all. So like it I came down like I'm stuck in Indiana for 3 days in a blizzard and I'm broke. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Who do I call? What do I do? Call you guys to come get me? >> But you got to Florida. >> Yeah. >> And you actually turned your life around a little bit. I mean, you were >> Well, I mean, I got down there and and I called my mom and I told her what's going on and she's like, "What the fuck?" And I'm like, "I know. I'm scared. I was like, I can't be on the phone long." >> Mhm. >> You know, cuz I don't know what's going on. And she's like, "What the fuck?" >> Mhm. >> You know, so I just like made it quick. Like, "Mom, I need you to send me some money." And she sent me money and then again. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> And you were able to get to Florida. >> Yeah. But that's >> And quite frankly, quite frankly, when you get down there, you were away from all the dopers. You were away from this crowd that >> I mean, I was just sober for 9 months up here >> Mhm. >> on Huber. And I did so good. >> Mhm. >> It's so good. And then like I mean, I cut all those people out of my life because I couldn't have friends over at my grandparents. And like, so then once I had my friends again, which is Logan, which that is starts. >> It's all circle. >> Yep. Yep. >> And I got back involved in the same lifestyle. >> Mhm. >> And I just I know and I really wish I would have been with you in the court. >> [snorts] >> I don't know. I don't know what I got to do cuz I'm really Yeah. >> We believe you. >> Yeah. >> I believe you. >> But so when you get down to Florida, then what? I'm going to come over to you. >> What happened then? >> I don't know what else You guys want to know from me right now, but like my lips have a mind of their own. I don't >> Mhm. >> You guys already know what happened when I got to Florida, so like I don't want to continue this conversation, I guess, because there's nothing more I can really say right now. >> Okay. >> I'm just not in the right state of mind. It's I'm really worried about my mom. >> Okay. >> [snorts] >> But like I said, if you could just try to talk to the ASL board. >> Okay. >> We will. >> And see what comes up about that. >> If if if you're willing to still talk to me just a little bit about mom, um her her [clears throat] involvement was You talked to her on the phone. >> I talked to her about mom. I talked to Logan on the phone. I mean, like it's there's nothing My I mean, my mom, what did she do wrong? >> Well, >> Cuz I know lots of people. My ex used to have a warrant and he lived at his mom's and she would always lie and say he's not home and you know, like she never got charged with anything because all she's doing is like it's not her fault that he's making wrong decisions. >> Right. Right. So, there's obstructing, there's aiding and abetting, but again, that's not >> But it's She didn't do anything to stop me. She didn't lie to the cops. She didn't do anything. She No. >> No. Um And again, >> Obstructing like I mean, I don't even know what what's obstructing. What was she supposed to do? >> Well, she she didn't necessarily give us your location. >> She didn't know my location. >> Okay. And that's And that's what I'm trying to get at is is how much did mom actually know and how much did she know about you? But she started sending you some money down down in Florida, too, right? >> [snorts] >> Oh, you're good. Don't worry about >> Um she sent you money down in Florida, except for she sent it to Lori. How did How did Lori What did you tell Lori? >> Lori, I didn't know anything. >> Okay. >> I've known Lori for years. I mean, I was just in Florida. >> Okay. >> You know, she just knew that me and Tyler were in Florida, you know, and she knows I'm on probation. I said, you know, I might have She said, "Well, you got to get your probation transferred down here." I said, "Yeah, that's my next goal." So, she didn't even know I had a I didn't even know I had a warrant or probation. And like I didn't know how to take that next step, either. >> So, um but but Lori's picking up the money for you. >> I didn't have a car. My car was stuck with my camper like the camper and the truck. And you can't just like I couldn't park that anywhere. >> So, it had to stay parked so you were using Lori's car? >> She [snorts] had a No, she She drove her car. >> Okay. Um >> How were you getting to work and stuff down there? >> By kidney. >> Pedal bike? >> Mhm. >> [snorts] >> But Lori would go pick up the money for you and then give it to you? >> I don't You're making me confess to that getting them in trouble. >> Here's, again, I'm not necessarily looking to get anybody else in trouble. I need to understand all of it, right? It's not necessarily to get people in trouble. It's so I understand your role in everything, too. >> [snorts] >> Okay? >> My role is I made a mistake. >> Yep. >> And I didn't tell even Tyler. Tyler didn't There's no like I'm the bad guy. Nobody else is a bad guy. And nobody in Nobody like kept any information from you guys. Like my mom didn't know. And if she did know, my mom can't lie to the cops cuz she can't lie. So she would have told you guys where it was if she knew where it was. She didn't even know if I was in Florida. She just She didn't know if like Lori was sending me the money or something. She had no idea. I would call her she would just do it, you know, like randomly call her phone. I see solutions. She's going to go on I see solutions. She'll try to figure it out. She Either way, she doesn't know. I kept her away from knowing. >> Right. Right. So she doesn't know. >> And you only She didn't know if I had a warrant. I don't know. >> You only called her once in a while to get her on your phones. >> how would she even know if I had a warrant? >> Cuz we've been there to knock on the door a couple of times. >> A couple of times. See, I didn't even know this. I barely talked to my mom because that's how much I haven't been able to talk to her. So she doesn't know. Well, she knew. >> Cuz we told her. >> Well, she didn't know where I was for sure. So like I didn't even I didn't even know. I thought the warrant And cuz it said >> On the search warrant. >> The search warrant where you were told about. >> Yeah, so And it was from my neighbors. So like my neighbor called me and told me you guys were there not to come home. That's no different than my mom like, you know, sending me money cuz she kept me from getting in trouble. So but that's not Of course like >> [sighs] >> I just wish that I could just get in trouble myself and nobody else. Well, that's all I want. >> And there is there there is absolutely an accountability factor, right? Like >> So, what can they >> When we make mistakes and whatnot, that's that's part of it. And that's that's part of what I'm trying to understand. Okay. Um So, So, just understand you get down to Florida and you know, you you get rid of your phone cuz you're worried it's being tracked. And there's a lot of things, Ashley, that that I know >> Okay. >> that that I still ask the questions, but I already know the answers. >> that. So, >> I get that. >> But, like I said, I'm done I'm done talking about it, you know, cuz I've had Like I just like this is this is stressing me out a lot. And just like I'm not saying we can't talk later. I'm just saying right now like I'm like trembling inside. >> Okay. Okay. And I And I just want you to take a breath, okay? >> Right. So, you like I don't know I really stresses me out thinking of them getting in trouble. Okay? Cuz the only [laughter] thing that matters to me is that they're okay. Even though they I didn't want them to get in trouble. >> Yep. Yep. >> And it sucks that, you know, he went down or whatever, but like >> Yep. >> He shouldn't have been with the guy, I mean, obviously this is a given, right? That's not my That's not my idea. >> Right. >> Everyone's going to get caught their own way, but my mom shouldn't have had a bad daughter. It's not her fault, right? >> Right. No, I understand that. >> So, if [snorts] you like you could just please try to keep I just want to know that they're going to be fine and they're going to get alimony for anything they had involved in of just knowing me. That's all I want. And I >> I >> I don't know that they're not going to get in any trouble, but from my perspective, you taking accountability for all of your actions >> I understand. >> goes goes huge towards towards the value. And And knowing that they don't want or that you don't want them to be in any trouble because you were you didn't force anybody to do anything, right? Every Everybody did what they did, they went along. How much information you gave them was minimal. So, people didn't necessarily know anything, right? Like I get that, and that's not That's not what I'm really looking for. >> Okay, so you look forward. >> Yep. >> We just worry about me and this arson charge. We And like we can meet and get a deal with the DA and whatever he's willing to offer. And we going to court today figuring out where that goes. And then anything that comes about it with anything else. >> So take a deep breath for me right now. >> I just want to worry about what I have to do to make sure that I am doing the right thing, and I don't want to stress about what they're going to have to >> Stop for a second. Just take a deep breath, okay? And we can head back over to the jail and be done, okay? No, I'm sorry. No, you're good. You're good. I get it. I get it. I I can't imagine the stress and whatnot that you're going through right now. I get it. >> I just want him to be punished. That's all I care about. >> And I understand that, okay? For for for somebody like me who normally deals with people who are like, "No, that [ __ ] did it. No, that [ __ ] did it. I can't do a goddamn thing." You taking responsibility is huge, Ashley. And you said you feel guilty. You said, you know, that that it's on you. Remember what I said yesterday about just taking it one day at a time? I still want you to focus on that, okay? Take it today. What do we got today to do, okay? You're going to meet with probably a uh public defender here. Okay, you're going to meet with them. You can sit down with them, talk to them, and then you're going to go in front of the judge today, right? And then that's today, okay? So let's take today. Find out where we're at. >> Talk to Alyssa at some point. >> And yeah, and >> Like face-to-face. >> So the >> [laughter] >> That's the judge. I don't know if she will be there today or not. They They probably need to contact her. I'm not sure how it works with an initial appearance. >> [clears throat] >> But but but what we can I can let her know that you want to talk to her. And if that's something talk to your public defender about that as well because I guarantee you that they're going to put a no contact on that through your body conditions. Yeah, but who's saying it's just as a human being? Yep. Yep. And and and it's not to say that you can't talk to her. So, this is what I'm getting at, right? Is that you let you let the public defender know that that this is something that you're hoping can get done. I can let victim witness know and talk to Alyssa and say that that's something she wants to talk to you about. Now, it may not be something. Maybe it's something you could write a letter. Maybe you know, whatever. I don't I don't know, but but we'll we'll take that one step at a Okay? I know you're worried about future and all that kind of stuff, but what let's take it one step But, we have to do that one step at a time, too, right? We It doesn't do us any good to do all the what ifs. And and we're notorious >> I mean, all of that stuff can happen, but like I I I can't do anything to prevent Like I just don't see what crime they committed. >> We're we're all notorious for it, the what ifs, right? And the the thinking too far ahead and what not. So, let's start with talk with your public defender today, okay? Um we are for the most part always available to sit down with you, okay? If you and your attorney decide that there's more that needs to be said, then we will always meet with you. I don't have any problems with that, okay? Um if if you meet with your your public defender here coming up and you guys get something squared away, great. Okay? Whether it's talking with me again or not. Okay? So, take a deep breath. Let me know when you're ready to go back and we can head back, okay? >> I just don't want no surprises. Like I don't know if I should warn my mom that something could >> She's already aware. She I already flat-out told her. We She's already aware that >> you told me that you need to call this number because they came over and they threatened that they could do this. >> Yep. >> So, they So, in my eyes, it's like if I call this number, you know, that And he said that she was this close. So, it's like if she was this close, then like So, it was like there it was that close. If I didn't call, then she could >> But I didn't tell her. But I didn't tell her. But I didn't tell her. I didn't tell her. I didn't specifically tell her that, you know, um There There's actions that she's taken that the DA's office will make a decision. Basically, the same thing I told you, right? >> You dropped her today? >> No, not today. No, this was before. But I talked to her and I specifically told her and said, you know, you're you're culpable to a certain degree. And the DA's office will make that decision on whether they're going to do anything. >> Well, can you talk to him again? >> Absolutely. And like I said, he's willing to listen to us. >> Right. >> So, >> I'm willing to work with him. I don't want to make him do more work than Okay, he doesn't have to. Like, I mean, what better time when he could just make it okay, Here is actually a lot of ways. There's plenty of other people that, you know, he he he has to fight to actually put in jail. I'm not trying to make it >> So, that's that's what I'm saying is that once you meet with a public defender and whatnot, um talk to them. And that person that you meet with today may not be the person that you actually get. And And because because you don't necessarily have money, you're probably going to be working with them, right? Um unless mom hires somebody. I don't know how that works. But um just just talk with your attorney, okay? That's That's what they're there for, okay? Work with them. And they will work with the DA's office, okay? So, there's certainly there's certainly options, okay? None of this is a None of this is ever set in stone. I mean, even on even on plea days, things change. So, Yep. Okay? >> Can we please just try our best to protect them from getting in trouble? >> Yep. Yep. >> Because I mean, that it would be in eyes, it would be super like wrong to prosecute someone cuz like what if it was your kid and that was just like screwed up? What would you do? Would you abandon them? You know what I mean? It's kind of messed up to like where your mom is coming from. And like it is the DA's decision to think is this wrong or not? I mean, does the judge even have to know about that cuz he's and then he has then he's obligated to do something about it if he knows. Like everyone We That's That's just it. It's the the law is the law. The law says what it says, right? What we charge and how we deal with it is up for interpretation. Okay? That's That's That's where that gray area is, right? But I mean, you really So prosecuting someone is that also like a gray area? Like do I try to or do I not try to? Is it even Was it morally wrong for them to do what they did or was it like they were trying to like do it cuz it was morally wrong for everyone who even knows me to be a part of it? Like even Yeah, but but like I said, some of that is based off of what people know. And what they think I mean, they're not always true. Like I mean, I don't I don't I don't trust a single word from Jen cuz I definitely don't trust her to even tell her I mean, I don't know who we would even be able to tell like Yeah, I don't talk to Jen. She's telling everyone I have AIDS. Like that's messed up. Like that's messed up. And she just took everything from my apartment I guess. Like I mean, and I don't even care. Like I'd rather have it. Like I'm shh. But I mean, I'm not happy I'm not happy about that situation but especially like you know, yeah. She's Well, and if if there's anything that you want to do about any of that, you just got to let me know. Okay? Cuz I think mom went and cleaned it out, right? Cleaned it out. Jen Jen did. But but your mom did go and clean some stuff out. She talked She talked about that. She talked about I don't know what all of charge she got. I mean, we haven't talked I haven't even discussed like any of that really with her because like for one I was just in Florida. So, like we haven't That's like the least of my concerns is that stuff. >> So, it sounds like a lot of your conversations with mom were were >> I love you. >> her cuz you know her one and two and >> simple Not even her one and two. No, her She doesn't know anything. >> No, that you're okay. That's That's what she's talking >> We haven't discussed >> That's what she's That's what she's talked about, right? That's She's worried about her and how she said she sent you money. That's why she sent you She sent you money because she wanted to know that you were fed. And she wanted to know that you were safe. Any parent who loves her children would want that, okay? >> I've already done some pretty bad >> My kid's out of school. He doesn't have a job. I'm not going to kick him out of my house, right? Like I love my kid. I'm going to work with him and he's going to make mistakes in life and whatever, but I love my child all along. So, I understand where your mom is coming from, right brother, or otherwise. But, we do do stupid things in the name of love sometimes. We make mistakes and do things. But, again, that's not That's not my goal is to charge everybody who's ever had contact with you. That's not what I'm looking for, okay? You're here now. You're in custody. Okay? The biggest thing was us trying to find you. We didn't want anybody to get hurt, including you, right? We didn't need you getting in any more trouble, right? So, it's not There's no one thing that any of this is all specifically about, okay? So, again, you just let me know whenever you're ready to go back and we can go. Do you want a minute here? I can step out even and give you a minute just to breathe. And then you can head back over there. >> Ashley Lynn Mon was originally charged in Polk County, Wisconsin with felony arson of a building without the owner's consent arising from a December 2024 fire that destroyed a Balsam Lake rental home. She later entered a guilty plea to that count. On February 20th, 2026, Judge Jeffrey Anderson sentenced her to 20 years in prison. Public reporting has not specified a split between initial confinement and extended supervision, and Wisconsin generally follows a bifurcated sentence structure rather than traditional parole. As of the most recent verified accounts after that sentencing, she remains incarcerated.
