So, you say he died of natural causes. There's going to be an autopsy and they're going to be able to figure out how he died. >> You're you're 100% sure that he died of natural causes? >> Yes. That I'm aware of? Yes. >> That you're aware of? >> On February 11th, 2025, in Zanesville, Ohio, Brittany Cole was brought in for questioning in connection with the death of David Cole Senior, who had died as a result of a fatal overdose of medication administered in the family home. Spoiler details are in the video description and the full results of all charges in the case are laid out at the end of the video. >> All right. So, what did officers say to you when um they came and knocked on your door? >> Um they said that they had received a call um that the grandfather had passed away and his body had been moved to the shed. And I was completely confused. One officer even mentioned that I had a confused look on my face. I had no idea why they were there. >> Okay. Um, did you tell them that they could go look around? >> Yes, I did. >> Okay. Um, so you were kind of shocked at that. Who do you think they would have gotten a call like that from? >> They told me who we got who they got the call from. >> Uh, and who was that? >> Um, >> man, they tell you more than they tell me. >> It's one of my daughter's friends. as well used to be friends. We've had a lot of issues with her. >> Okay. >> Um she gave her like all kinds of hoodies when they were in eighth grade and she got a hold of me and was like, "Well, I want it back or I'm pressing charges for theft." >> And I'm like, "What was in eighth grade?" They're just going to tell you that you should have. Um I ended up giving her $150 for a black Nike hat that my daughter lost. >> Okay. Um so who was that? >> Emily Walls. Give me just a second. I'm sorry. >> No, you're fine. All right. Um, so Emily Walls, uh, they told you that she called and said this. Why would she have said this? >> I honestly have no idea. >> Okay. Well, how would she know information like that? Has she been over at your house recently to have even started some kind of a rumor like that? >> No, but her best friend has. >> And who's her best friend? >> Naa Strad. >> Okay. >> So, Emily Walls is best friends with Naa Strad. >> Yes. She also had a falling out with my She actually used to live with it. She was there for like a week. Um, she didn't pick up after herself. She didn't clean. And so we asked her to politely leave. We're like, >> Emily? >> No. Naa. >> Oh, Naa. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, >> and she was very not okay with it. And she was very upset that we kicked her out. And I'm like, I'm not your maid. I I can't. You're 18 years old. You are an adult. >> Right. >> Like, I didn't even make her pay rent. It's like the only thing I ask is that you help clean around the house. You if you're want to be living here, >> right? Makes sense, >> right? >> So, when did Naa live there? >> October. She, like I said, she was only there like a week. She would constantly go all hours of the night. Um, >> October to when? You said she only lived there for like a week. Yeah, it was October 13th. Um, I'd say like maybe October 20th, maybe. >> Okay. >> Um, they said she was in and out all hours of the night. Um, she got mad at me because I told her that she could not smoke weed in my house. I'm not against it. I just it gives me a migraine. You know, go out back if you're going to do it. Um, >> so she lived there for a week. Uh, and you kicked her out. Um, >> her and my daughter had a major falling out. Um, there was a time where my daughter and her boyfriend broke up and she like rubbed it in her face and like she was just very mean. Um, she ended up reaching out to my daughter about a week ago saying that she missed her and she was sorry for everything and that >> Naa did. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Um, she had come over about a week ago and just visited. And then she came over again tonight. >> Okay. >> And just visited and hung out. >> Okay. And she came over uh tonight. What time? >> Obviously before we got there. >> Yeah. Um I got out of school at 3. >> Okay. >> So I would have said it would probably have been 4:30, 5:00. She was there at at 4:30. >> Yes. >> Okay. And what time did she leave? >> About 7:30, 8:00. >> Okay. Okay. And what what did they do? What' she do while they were there? just hung out in the basement with my daughter. As far as I know, I was back in my office. >> Okay. Where's your office at? >> It's my father-in-law's old room. My husband made it an office. >> Okay. Um, >> all my nursing supplies and stuff are back there. >> Okay. And what room is that? >> If you go all the way down the hall, is the last room on the right. >> Okay. So, the last room on the right is your new office. >> Yes. He surprised me with it one day when I came home from school. >> Okay. And when you say surprised you, like what do you do? Like a remodel or something? >> No, just uh there was carpeting in there. Um my father-in-law had left like one of the big recliners here cuz they had no way to haul it um in his bed because he had a bed at his brother's. Okay. >> So, he moved all that out of there and put like a dresser in there with my medical supplies in it. >> Okay. >> And I have two desks in there. >> Okay. >> So, David Jr. took you said took the carpet out. >> Yeah. It was just like a carpet that you get from Ali's. >> Okay. So, like a giant rug or something. Okay. Okay. Um, what did you guys do with the rug and the bed? >> Um, if I I don't think you set it out to the trash, so it should still be in the garage. >> Uh, both of them. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> To to my knowledge. >> Okay. And how long ago was that? >> About a week. >> A week ago. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, after David Senior had left. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Cuz I was trying to figure out what to do with it. Okay. Have you guys talked to David Senior? >> He called a couple days after he left, but other than that, no. >> Okay. And did you talk to him? >> Yes, I did. >> Okay. All right. Um, and what phone number? What's his phone number? >> I don't have my phone on me. >> Okay. Did officers collect it? >> Yes. >> Okay. Uh do you know like what what it starts with? Is it like a weird number? Is it I don't know 624 or 704? >> It's a a 614 number. >> Okay. Uh since he you said a 614. >> Yes. since he had Parkinson's and stuff uh and he was a little older. Was he on you guys' plan or did he have his own plan? >> Edna. >> Edna. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> So, it was his own plan. >> Yes. >> Okay. Now, do you know what kind of phone he had? >> Just a little Android. >> Okay. All right. Um, is there anything you want to tell me? >> I All I know from what the officers told me is they found something in the shed. That is all I know. >> Okay. So, they came knocking on the door saying that they heard from Emily Walls that there was a a body in the shed and then you said they found something in the shed. What do you think they found? I'm guessing obviously probably a body if I had to guess cuz they kept saying 37. >> Okay. >> I honestly have no idea what they found. >> Okay. So, if Emily Walls calls in and she's best friends with Naa and Na was at your house tonight, how would she know or what would she know about there being a body in the shed? >> I have no idea. And I honest to God would put my hand on the Bible for that. I have no idea. Okay. >> So, if there was a dead body found in that shed, you don't know how it got there. >> No, I [clears throat] don't. >> And you don't know who's there? >> No. >> Okay. >> Okay. Well, have you put a body in there recently? >> No, I have not. >> Did you help put a body in there? >> No, I have not. >> Okay. So, >> that could cost me my nursing license. would cost you a lot more than a nursing license. >> I'm not trying to do that. I just >> Okay. >> Trying to make a better world for my daughter. >> Okay. So, this is your daughter's friends that have all this information and causing all this stir. Uh would your daughter uh do you think your daughter's capable of killing someone? >> Not that I'm aware of. She's tiny. >> Okay. So, why would her friends or how would her friends know that there's a body or if there was a body in that shed? >> Honestly, I don't know. >> Okay. >> The only communication I had with them was when she went to leave and she said, "Bye. I love you." That is all she said to me. >> Naa. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, if we swab the DNA on the body, would your DNA be found on it? >> No. >> Okay. So, would you be willing to give us a DNA standard, consent to a DNA standard for us to be able to collect that and do that? >> Of course. >> Okay. All right. And you said your date of birth is 47 of 87. Yes, that is correct. >> Okay. What I'm going to have you do is print your name right there in that open space >> and then sign it right there. Um, all right. So, if your DNA is not going to be on there and you don't think your daughter's big enough to be able to move a body, who do you think's in there? >> I don't know. I wish that I did, but I don't. >> Okay. So, if it wasn't you and you don't think your daughter could do it, who's that leave? >> My husband. >> Okay. Do you think your husband is capable of killing someone? He was overseas and that's what he did. But his own dad, I'm not I mean I don't think he would, but I don't know. >> Have they had any uh fights recently? I mean, I guess just because you've got Parkinson's doesn't mean that your brain's necessarily going. So if I mean, >> Right. Not that I'm aware of. I know. Um he was kind of needy before he moved out. Like he was able to get up and do stuff, but there was times he wouldn't and like he would holler for me and he would get annoyed with it, but they never had any like screaming or fighting matches. No. >> Okay. Were you guys uh was he getting any type of like disability or social security or anything? >> Uh he got social security. >> Okay. And um were you guys given that as like to help take care of him? >> Yes. >> Okay. How much was that every month? >> It's like $2,300. >> Okay. Um I mean I don't I guess I don't know, but uh Social Security, do they cut checks at like the first of the month or is it like a couple times a month? Um, his was, I believe, the fourth Wednesday of every month. >> Okay. >> If I remember correctly. >> So, the fourth Wednesday of every month, that probably would have been the last Monday of January, a couple weeks ago. Um, was he still living with you guys then? >> No. >> Okay. Did you guys still receive that check? Yes, we could. That was one of the phone calls that my husband made to him and he said that was that to for us to consider that his last like rental payment. >> Okay. So, he was paying you guys rent. >> Yes. >> Was he giving you guys the $2,300 a month for rent? >> Not the entire $2,300. No. >> Okay. But he told you that you could keep the $2,300. Was he receiving like paper checks or how >> it was deposited into his bank account? >> Okay. And were you guys on there as co-signers or just had access to it? >> My husband was the POA, so he was not on the account, but he had access to it. >> Okay. >> And what bank was that? >> Park National. There's not too many of those left. Which one did you guys use? >> The one. >> Okay. How's it going? Good. >> This is uh Sergeant Phil. How are you? What's your name? >> Britney Cole. >> Britney, how you doing, Britney? >> He's getting better. >> Yeah. All right. Uh you signed that consent. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to open that up. Um, there's two swabs. I'm going to swab the inside of one cheek and then take the other one and swab the other cheek. Okay. Um, and like I said, if uh, you know, we'll we'll test it against what we find and So, over the last couple of weeks, has uh David Jr. said anything to you um or seemed on edge or a little different? I mean, I know he took up smoking again, but that's the only difference that I've noticed. >> Okay. And how long had he uh not smoked? How long did he go without smoking? >> 2 to 3 years. >> Okay. And then just one day all of a sudden he started smoking again. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And you said in the military, uh, well, you said overseas he killed people for a living. Was he contracted? was >> he was a contract mil uh paramilitary. >> Okay. >> He went to Afghanistan and Kosovo. >> Okay. And so he he was in the military and then he got out of the military >> and then signed up with like a private contractor. >> Well, he wasn't in the military at all. He just signed up with a contractor from what I've been told. >> Okay. >> He doesn't really talk about it a lot. >> How long ago was that? >> Last time he was overseas was 08. >> Okay. How long have you known him? >> 12 years. >> So long after uh he was done overseas. >> Yes. >> Okay. How do you know that he used to kill people? >> He told me. He don't he doesn't go into details. He just told me that he was trained by the Messiah. >> Okay. All right. So, I need you to be straight with me. I need you to tell me what you know. >> Honestly, I don't know anything. I'm hardly ever home. I'm home in the evenings and on the weekends. That is it. >> Okay. Mom's getting caught up here. Tell me what Tell me what's going on. >> Um, so I had cops knock on my door. >> Mhm. >> I was in bed because I'm supposed to be going to nursing clinicals tomorrow morning, which >> Where did you that out of? >> Middle East. >> Middle East. >> Mhm. Okay. >> Um, I was laying in bed and all of a sudden my husband's like, "There's police outside. They're looking in the cars." >> And I'm like, "Well, why would there be police here?" My first thought was my son, not my son-in-law, but my daughter's boyfriend, um, his ex-girlfriend's been giving him a lot of grief. Um, so I went out and I'm like, "Well, can I help you?" And the officer was like, "Yeah, we we got a phone call saying that grandpa died and that his body is in this shed." And the officer's like, "Well, you have a confused look on your face." And I'm like, "Yeah, my my father-in-law moved out." >> How did he move out? >> His brother came and picked him up from Columbus. >> Who's his brother? >> Uh, his name is Bob Cole, by the way. >> Bob Cole? >> Yes. >> When did he pick him up? >> It was like the second week of January. first or second week. >> Why did he why did he move out? >> Because he felt he was getting beyond what we could do for him and he rather be closer to his his brothers. >> What do you mean what he could do for him? >> He had Parkinson's really bad. >> Mhm. >> So he shook and he said he didn't want to become a burden on us. >> Okay. Um did he get like any assistance from the government or anything like that? >> He also has a security. Did do you guys have access to that? >> My husband did. Yes. >> Did you guys use any of that money after he moved out? >> He gave us so much a month for rent. We didn't make you. He offered it. >> But if you moved out, there'd be no reason to give it to you, right? >> No. >> Did he give it to you after he moved out? >> He gave us one and he said, >> "How much?" >> It was the full 2,300. >> Okay. What about like food stamps or >> He didn't get any of that. >> Nothing like that. He made too much. >> So after we moved out, he gave you $2,300. >> Yeah. >> Did they give it to you or do you give it to your husband? >> It was in the bank. >> Okay. >> Do you have access to it or just your husband? >> We We both do, but I normally don't use it. >> Okay. Um, what's a running total of what's in David Senior's bank account? >> I honestly couldn't tell you. Last time I checked, there was like $100 left. >> Okay. And how long ago was that? >> Couple weeks ago. >> Okay. So, was that before or after he got us $2,300? >> I believe that was after. >> Okay. So, he gave you $2,300 and then that $2,300 dwindled down to 100. >> Yes. >> Okay. Did you take any of the money out? >> No, I did not. >> Okay. And the only other person that has access is your husband? Yes, that is correct. >> Okay. But if he moved out, he would need that money to survive on his own, right? >> Yes. That's I that's why we asked him if he was sure and he said yes. >> When did you ask him if he was sure? >> About a couple days after he moved. >> And when was that again? >> The first or second week of January. >> I wasn't home when he moved out. >> You were? >> No, I was at school. I go to school Monday through Friday. >> Do you think that was odd that he moved out? I thought it was. Yes. >> Why did you think it was odd? >> Because I thought he was happy and I didn't I really didn't see a need for him to move out. >> Mhm. [clears throat] >> Not that didn't cause you any type of concern or anything like that. it. I mean, it did, but I understand that other than his son, he has no family left here in Zainsville. Do you think if somebody did something to him or maybe they didn't do something to him, maybe something just happened? Uh, what do you think should happen to that person? >> They should be investigated and asked why. >> Okay. I mean, you think that person should receive the same fate that he did deserved? I >> mean, you think they should do like life in prison or you think that they should get a second chance? >> I mean, if it's I mean, if it's their first offense, I mean, I'd give them a second chance, but make sure that they understood the repercussions if they had to keep their nose clean. So, even a traffic violation, they'd be in trouble. >> Why do you think they should get a second chance? >> I'm all about second chances. My dad taught me that. >> Okay. So, like we we don't want to think that anybody's a bad person or a monster or anything, but when we look at things based upon evidence and what we're getting at that, you know, we need to know up front what the truth is. So, when there's certain things that we're going to be able to prove and can prove and you sit there and you don't tell the truth 100%. Do you how do you think that makes that person look? >> You know what I mean? >> Yes. >> So in situations like these that like he just said that with DNA like everybody's always transferring everything, you know, he's wrapped in plastic out in their shed. Okay. >> He's what? >> Yeah. Let's just cut to the chase. We're not going to I'm not going to sit here and don't act like you're surprised. >> I am surprised. I thought he moved to Columbus. >> You're not. Listen, I've been doing this for about 20 years now. He's been doing it for about 10. This isn't our first time that we've done this. And I know that you're probably upset and maybe this wasn't your idea from when it began. But right now, here's your chance to tell us your side of the story. Cuz the only side that we know right now is what we're going to be able to tell and what we're going to be able to find out from other people. Here's a chance to say here's what really happened. It's not some >> crap crap of a lie that he moved to CL. Listen, we're going to talk to some people and they're going to say anybody with half a brain would know that. That's a [ __ ] story. And I'm not here to make you feel bad. And I know whatever happened happened. You can't change it. The only thing you can do now is be honest. There's a man in your your father-in-law that you care that you say that you care about. If you really care about him, then you probably tell the truth. If you don't, you know, I really don't care. That's something that you're going to have to live with. But you're going to have to tell the truth now. Okay, he's in your shed. So, what happened to him? How did he get there? And let's let's not beat around the bush because let's have him let's give him some respect. He deserves it. Okay, he Nobody deserves that. We wouldn't expect anybody to do that to you and if somebody did, we would be right at him. So, let's let's hear the truth about how he got there and let's figure this out. Okay, now's the time to do it. So, what happened to him? >> He passed away of natural causes. >> How do you know that? >> Because I found him. >> Where did you find him at? >> In his bed. >> Where was his bed at? >> Last room on the right. >> Did you guys take the carpet out? >> My husband did. >> Why? >> That I have no idea. I wasn't home when he did it. >> Why didn't you just call the call us? People die every day and we come and check it out. I didn't want to tell my husband he wasn't worth it. >> Huh? >> That was his last meeting there. >> That was his last parent. So why that doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't you call the police and say, "Hey, he passed away." You know what I mean? >> You found him. Yes, sir. >> How did you find him? >> I went in to make sure he took his morning meds. Okay. So, if you found him and he you say he died of natural causes, how do you know he died of natural causes? >> I just assume. >> Okay. So, you I'm not I'm not trying to call you a liar. I'm just uh I'm I I want to make sure I have this straight. You said that you weren't home, but then you turned around and said that you're the one that found him and you didn't want your husband to know. So, if you weren't home, how did you find him? And how did your husband know? >> I wasn't there when the carpet was removed. >> Okay. So, we we've been sitting here for the last 40 minutes and like it's it's not a secret like right because you've got your daughter's friends calling us. Your daughter's friend knew somehow, right? >> Yes. >> So, how did your daughter's friend know? >> I'm guessing my daughter probably told her. I that I don't I don't know how she was told. Well, let let's let's backtrack to when you found when when what day was this? >> It was the first or second week of January. >> Do you remember if it was a weekday or weekend? >> I don't remember that. >> Uh was it warm, cold out? Any idea? >> It was cold. >> Um who helped you wrap him in plastic? >> That part I didn't do. Who did it? >> I'm assuming it would be my husband. >> Well, let's not We're not here. Hey, we're not here to assume. >> We're going to just >> It would have been him because he ordered it off of Amazon. >> Ordered the plastic? >> Yes. >> And that? >> Cuz he told me he did, but he didn't tell me what it was for. >> You guys have a shared Amazon account? You would >> Do you guys share Amazon? >> So, you can see your order history. >> What's your accountant. You is it like whatever at Gmail or how how do you log into Amazon? >> Uh it's uh Dave Cole I I 80gmail.com. >> And did you order it from like did he do it from his phone? Your phone? You guys have a computer? >> I believe it was his phone. And so >> cuz he told me he was going to have >> you. Why did I And how how did you know he was dead? >> I checked his post. >> Why didn't just call the squad? >> Cuz I ended up telling him and he said he would take care of it. >> He was >> my husband. >> He would. How was he going to take care of it? >> Dad, I don't know. Cuz I ended up going to school that day. So, you go to school Monday through Friday? >> Yes, sir. >> You've found him. Was it close to the weekend? Was it like first thing Monday morning? Oh, we're starting the week off with >> I want to say it was like a Monday or a Tuesday morning. >> Okay. How long did he lay in that bed before the the plastic showed up and he was moved? >> That I'm not sure. >> You live in the house. You come home every night. >> I if I had to guesstimate maybe a week. So, he laid in the house for a week. How long did it take to order the plastic and for the plastic to get there? >> Uh, two days. >> Okay. >> Prime members. >> Yes. >> So, happened on a Monday or a Tuesday. You get the plastic on Thursday, but you wait until after the weekend to wrap him up. >> I'm guessing yes. >> Okay. So, we have your DNA, right? Are we going to find your DNA on the plastic? >> Shouldn't? No. >> Shouldn't or we're not going to? >> I mean, I took it out of the box and unwrapped it, but that was it. >> Okay. You didn't help put him in the plastic? >> No. >> Okay. Did you help carry him to the shed? >> No. >> Who did? >> As far as I know, it was just my husband. Well, how how big was Dave Senior? Big enough that Dave Junior could carry him by himself? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, and what did you think that like the end of this was going to lead? Like you were just like you knew where he went, right? No, he didn't tell me where he went. I just knew that. >> Where Where did you think he went? >> He said he was going to try to have him buried next to his mom. >> Is your Is his mom buried out back? >> No, she's buried in um I want say it's John's town. >> Just going to drive up there and dig a plot and dump him in it. I mean, come on. There's there's more to the story than what's being told. No, that's honestly all I know. >> I mean, that doesn't make sense. Like, if he naturally died, I would naturally call the police or the squad or somebody and >> I see >> we wouldn't even have this situation right now. If that if that's what you did, >> when >> if that's what you're saying is true. When Katherine Anderson passed away and left you the house? Yes. >> Did you put her in a piece of plastic and put her in the shed? >> No, she died peacefully in a nursing home. >> Okay. Did the nursing home wrap her in plastic and stick her out back in a shed? >> No. >> Okay. So, what would make you because even if your husband had come up with the idea of getting plastic, what would make you not question not just calling us? Cuz you found him, right? Why Why would you not just go ahead and call 911? >> I should have, but I can't miss too many hours at school, so I rushed away. >> Who pays the bills at the house? >> The bills are in my name. >> Where do you work at? >> I'm currently a full-time student. I get checks from school. How much are your checks? >> Roughly $500 and some dollars a month. >> Where does uh David Junior work at? >> He does door dashing. >> So basically you guys lived off of David Senior's social security check. Correct. >> No, we were working at Cedar before I started >> Cedar. >> Cedar Hill. >> When was the last time you worked at Cedar Hill? I want to say October. >> Okay. So, November, December until he died in January. You were living on And if a student loan check comes at from what I remember, it probably comes at the beginning of the semester one time. >> Um, it comes Yeah. the next one is due February 26th. >> Yeah. So, I mean, let's just let's not sugarcoat it. David Senior, that that was the income of the house, correct? >> For the most part. >> Yes, but I planned on getting a job. >> And I understand that he probably planned on it, but the main source of income, would it be fair to say that it was David Senior? >> Yes, sir. >> Because, you know, I I don't know. I've never Door Dash, but I can't think that's a lucrative job where you have a bunch of extra money to pay uh >> on weekends it can be. >> Really? >> Mhm. >> And you had kids living with you too, right? >> My youngest daughter. Yes. >> So, how do how did you how did you feed them? How did you pay for heat? How do you pay for electric? >> Food stamps. And I'm one pip. So, our electric and gas is $35 a month. >> Mhm. The most expensive bill is the water. >> So, does >> do you want to keep on getting a social security check for a little bit? >> No, that would land me in prison. >> H >> that would land me in prison. No, my value. >> I think wrapping the body up in plastic and taking them to the shed would probably land you in prison, too. Did that ever cross your mind? Not at the moment. No. >> Why not? But the other day. >> Well, I mean, it should have. Yes. >> Why didn't it? >> Cuz I was focused on going to school. Cuz I can only miss so many hours and I was already on the verge of to 24 hours. >> How long did you know that he was in the shed? Just when the cops told me tonight, I didn't >> Oh [ __ ] Come on. >> I didn't know where he was. >> Where did you think he was? >> I didn't know. >> Your daughter's friend knew. How did your daughter's friend know and you not know? >> Because I'm hardly told anything. I'm hardly home. >> You're not having in the evenings? >> In the evenings to do homework and by the time I get done doing that, I cook dinner and go to bed. So, you're saying your daughter knows more about what's going on as a juvenile at your house than what you do? >> Probably. Yes. >> But you knew he got plastic and wrapped him up and he just randomly ended up in the shed. Listen, here's the thing. This is where you got to be 100% honest. You know what I mean? >> I am being 100% honest. >> But you haven't like you say that you're honest and then every little bit goes on, a little more comes out. Uh, a little bit more unraveled. So, you got to be honest about everything. You You knew he was in the shed for how like it wasn't a mystery where he was at. And I could I could smell him. You mean to tell me you couldn't smell? >> I don't go back to the shed. >> I mean, we just had a It was just earlier this week, we had a day that it was like 60° outside. We can smell the body from the street. You're telling me that on a nice warm sunny day, 60° outside, you're not outside enjoying the weather and you smell something? >> I was out running around. >> I mean, did you did you go to a funeral service? Did you go watch your in-law, your father-in-law, get buried? No. >> Okay. You didn't ask any questions? >> I did, but he just kept telling me he took care of it. And you didn't ask questions? No. >> Did that not seem odd to you? >> It did. >> I mean, you got a you got a brand new office out of it, right? >> I didn't want the office. >> You got $2,200 out of it. >> I didn't want that either. Money doesn't matter to me. >> Graduating from nursing school and raising my daughter does. So, you're saying this whole thing was orchestrated by your your husband? >> Yes. >> How does it make you feel? >> Horrible. >> Why? >> Cuz I didn't think he would ever do something like that. Like, what if me and my daughter were next? >> What do you think he did? >> I I don't know. You say you you What do you mean next? >> You said he died of natural causes. >> He did. So I rephrase I phrased that wrong. I'm just saying >> he does have anger issues. I will say that he is on medicine for it. >> Don't Well, did he do something to his father? >> No. No. That I can honestly say he would never harm a hair on that man's head. Now, a little bit ago, you said you didn't know because he killed people in overseas. >> I I mean, I don't know, but that's his dad. If that was me, I couldn't hurt my dad. >> You just wrap him up in plastic, put him in the shed. >> I didn't do that. I mean, I >> But you knew. >> Yes. >> So, how long did you know? It wasn't just tonight. Knock on the door. When was it? I found out two days ago. >> So you found out two days ago that your father-in-law was wrapped in plastic and in the shed >> for the past 3, four weeks? >> Yes. >> And you didn't think at that point you should call us? >> I should have called. That was a huge [ __ ] up on my part. >> So how did you find out? Come on, be honest. Did he tell you? Did you go see it and then there was a confrontation? Like come on. I questioned him about it. >> How? Why did you question him about it? >> Cuz something didn't sit right with me. >> Did you find him out there or were you just, "Hey, what'd you do with your dad?" >> I just asked him where where he was and not to lie to me. >> Okay. And what did he say? >> He said he was out in the shed. >> Okay. And what was your first reaction? >> I was in shock. >> Okay. But you knew we got the plastic off of Amazon only a couple days after. >> Yeah, cuz we planned on moving to Florida. >> Why were you planning on moving forward? >> We've been talking about it for 2 or 3 years now. We vacationed there a couple times and it's gorgeous down there. >> And were you just going to leave him in the shed? >> No. >> What were your What was the plan? >> I wasn't going to leave and just leave him there. I was going to try to make things right. >> Wow. >> You could have done that two days ago. >> I could have. Yes. >> You chose not >> three weeks ago. >> Why didn't you? >> What do you think should happen to you? I guess whatever the judge seems fit. >> Well, do you think you did anything wrong? >> I know I didn't. I'm not saying I didn't. >> Well, what did you do wrong? >> I didn't call when I should. >> When should you call? >> When I first found him. When you found him, what were the signs of You said he died of natural causes. What was he like when you found him? >> Like peaceful. Just like >> Yeah. How was he positioned? >> Just laying in bed like he normally does. Like his arm here and his remote was in his other hand. >> What was he wearing? >> Uh when I found him it was a blue or black t-shirt. Mhm. >> Is he still wearing the same clothes now that you found him in? >> That I have no idea. >> Was he covered up? Was he setting up? >> Um, he had an adjustable bed, so the feet were up and the head was raised slightly. >> Mhm. >> Cuz he would get drinks in the middle of the night, but he would forget to put the bed up. >> Is that the mattress? His bed. Is that the mattress that's out back? >> I would assume so. Yes. Cuz it doesn't belong to any of the rest of the the beds in the house. Okay. Had did he have like blood or vomit coming out of his mouth or ears, nose? >> No. >> Okay. So, you say he died of natural causes. There's going to be an autopsy and they're going to be able to figure out how he died. You're you're 100% sure that he died of natural causes? >> Yes. That I'm aware of? Yes. >> That you're aware of? >> Listen, nobody did anybody hit him, assault him? >> No. >> Put a pillow over his head, suffocate him? >> No. >> How sure are you of that? >> I'm 100% sure of that. How long has your daughter been? >> I really don't know that one. I >> mean, what was the storyline of keeping him in the shed? I mean, you guys had to come up with a plan about what was what was the next move? >> He just told me he was going to try to get a hold of the the cemetery. That's all I was told. Does it seem like common practice that you just call up a cemetery and ask if you can bury a body? No, it does not. >> Okay. So, narrow down for me the day and the time. Like you said, you found him the next in the morning, right? Is that >> Yes. >> Okay. What time of morning? 5:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. >> It was around 7:38. >> Okay. So, it was around 7:30 or 8:00. And I mean, what had happened the days prior? >> He was in regular self. I mean, he kept talking about he was ready to go see mom, but other than that, he was himself. >> Okay. >> And you say that social security check goes directly into your guys' account or it goes into his account and it gets transferred to >> It goes into his account >> that your husband's the power of attorney. >> Yes. >> Do you have like a debit card to it or does your husband I believe my husband does. >> Who do you bank through? >> Park National. >> Both of them. >> Do you guys bank through Park National also? >> No. >> Okay. Who do you bank through? >> I bank through Chime. >> Okay. >> Who's your husband bank through? >> He has a debit card from Door Dash that he uses. >> Does he have Park National, too, or just >> Um, we used to have Wood Forest until we closed it. >> How long ago was that? I want to say it got closed in December, November or December. The money that was taken out of senior's account are going to be the ATMs, any of the transaction videos anywhere? >> I shouldn't be. No, >> you shouldn't be or you shouldn't. >> There I took money out once and it was when he was still alive. Um, I asked him for money enough to pay for our water bill and he said yes. But other than that, no, I won't be in any of the videos. >> Okay. Listen, you you said he got paid the last check the last Wednesday of the month. >> Yes. >> Okay. In January. >> Yes. >> And you just checked it a week ago and there was only $100 in it. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, he got paid $2,300 two weeks ago and there's only a hundred bucks in it. Where'd all that money go? >> We I caught up on a couple of the bills. >> Okay. And you said all the bills are in your name? >> Yes. >> How'd you get the money? Come on. We're We're done. >> He He uses his cell phone. >> The The bills are in your name. You >> He pays them. The bills are in my name. >> Okay. >> But he pays them. >> You don't manage any of them. You don't take care of any of the bills. There's not a single bill that you pay. >> No. I mean, >> do you have a cell phone, too? >> Mhm. >> It's nothing on your phone that you use any of that money. >> Uh, you can get a copy of that. Um, let me ask you this. Did uh did David Senior did he have any life insurance policies? >> No, he did not. >> Okay. >> He didn't or you don't know? >> No, he didn't. >> Okay. So, what were you guys planning on doing at this point? I mean, when somebody passes away, when somebody dies, there are lots of things to take care of, right? Um, I mean, you know that because you've had other people die in your family and you know what it I mean, you got a house out of it, right? So, I'm sure you went through the process of uh, this property belongs to this person, this Okay. So, you have a car sitting up there that's in David Senior's name. Have you guys been driving it? >> I take it to school. That's it. >> Okay. And you did you ever think to like switch it out of your name or out of his name? Like did it not occur to you that at some point you were going to get questioned on that? >> We were going to go a week before he passed to transfer it over. >> Okay. But you didn't. So you guys were what what were you planning on doing? It's not like somebody can just disappear and everything is like, "Oh, it's fine. uh we'll just keep living our lives. So, there had to be some conversations over the last few weeks of what you guys were planning on doing. >> Every time I tried to talk to him about it, he shut me down. Other than he was in the shed, he just kept saying, "I'll take care of it. I'll take care of it. It's taken care of." >> And that's over the last few weeks. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, you've known for a few weeks that he was in the shed? >> No, I've only known three days or two days. >> Okay. Now, as far as the house goes, is there anything that's just like exclusive to somebody else where you don't have access to, or you have access to every room in the house? >> I have access to every room in the house. >> And there's no nothing that's off limits to you. >> No. >> There's no private areas for anybody. >> I mean, my daughter's basement, my daughter's room is in the basement, but >> And she's 16. >> Mhm. But there's no room that you and your husband don't share. >> No. >> After you found him, what did you do? Like immediately after >> I went and woke him up. I wasn't going to tell him, but I decided that I needed to. >> Okay. So, you went and woke him up and then what did you do? >> I asked him if he wanted me to take the day off of school to to help make arrangements or if I he wanted me to go and he told me to go. >> Okay. >> That he would take care of it. >> Okay. And then David Senior just laid in there for days. >> Yes. >> What' you guys do? Shut the door and pretend like you wasn't there. Okay. Where was your daughter at? Did she not ask questions? >> She did. >> Okay. >> I told her I didn't know how to answer them cuz I really didn't have any more involvement in it other than taking the plastic out of the box. >> Okay. >> So, how is that box still there? I It's in I want to say it's in our living room. >> Mean when you say a box, is it like how big a box we talking about? As long as this table. >> Oh, no. It's about like this. >> What kind of plastic? You mean like a plastic bag or like plastic wrap? >> What do you mean plastic? >> You said you they got plastic off Amazon. He was in a plastic bag. >> It basically was for a mattress cover. So I assumed it was for a bed when we moved. >> So that was already there, but you just ordered like a big thing of saran wrap. >> No, it was an actual mattress like Ziploc bag type. >> Is what you order? >> Yes. >> So you ordered that for your mattress for when you moved to Florida? He did. That's what I assumed that it was for. >> Okay. When did he order it? >> That I'm not sure. I'd have to look on Amazon >> after he died. >> Um, again, I'm not sure he ordered it. He didn't tell me until after he ordered that he had ordered it. >> Okay. When did he tell you he ordered it? After he died. >> Um, yes, it was after he passed. Okay. So, I mean, either he ordered the plastic mattress cover to wrap his dad's body in, or he bought it to wrap a mattress in for you guys to move to Florida and pretend like it didn't happen. So, was it for for his body or was it for a mattress so you guys could pack up and get away? I again I assumed it was for our mattress. >> Okay. So you assumed it was for the mattress. What did you assume was going to happen with his body if his body wasn't going in the mattress cover? >> I had no idea. >> What do you think Dave is going to tell us? >> Probably what I'm telling you. >> Probably. Or >> I have no idea what he would tell me, but Well, would he have reason to tell us that you choked out his dad until his dad died? >> No. >> Okay. So, if he comes in here and tells us that you smothered him with a pillow, that's going to be a lie. >> Yes, it is. And I'll take a lie detector test to prove it. >> Okay. All right. Or is there anything else you can tell us right now that we haven't asked yet? What else we going to find out? >> Other than everything I've told you, I don't know anything else. Brittany Lee Cole was originally charged in Mskingham County, Ohio with murder and gross abuse of a corpse in the December 2024 death of her father-in-law, David Cole, senior. She pleaded guilty to both counts on February 26th, 2025, and Judge Gerald Anderson immediately sentenced her to life in prison with parole eligibility after 16 years.
