Come on in, sir. My son's >> What's going on today, John? >> My son's having a >> Okay. >> mental breakdown. So, >> where is he? >> He's up here in the back. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Can you see? >> That's better. >> I'll I'll get my shoes on and come out with you. He's out. >> He's He's out back. Out back. Okay. >> I'll get my shoes on. Do you want to wait a minute? >> Mrs. Coulter, is there any weapons back there that you know of? >> Not that I know of. Okay. No. >> Okay. That's my main concern right now. >> I have I have um his sisters on the phone with me. >> Um I'm going to get my shoes on and I'll with you. >> Sure. Sure. Sure. >> What's up? >> Say what's up. Okay, Jackie, Jackie, went back to his Andy went back to his his um trailer, his RV. And um mom, I was on the phone with mom. She was in the kitchen. She's like, I hear sirens. Did Jackie call the police? And I said, yeah, she did. >> Okay, you're on speaker phone, girls. Well, was they had to get off the phone with me because dad was calling. Oh, really? Okay. So, dad called, too. >> Okay. I almost have my my shoes on here. Just a minute. >> Okay, we're going to go out now. Where is he now? >> Um, he's back here. >> Okay. >> Be careful here. >> I see you. I got it. Uh, looking over at prior's last contact, February of 25 report of him harassing his parents and making suicidal comments, but I'm not seeing the comment of suicide by officers. You have an imagination. I have an imagination. How come he put it? Did you just put your siren on, sir, to come over here? >> Given the circumstances, Andy, I I I did. >> Circumstances, sir. You don't even know the truth. >> Okay. Well, I I I'm here to hear it. >> But why would you in this in this small town of Tracy, Minnesota, why would you turn your sirens on and come over here? Like you did, Mom, did you think your life was in jeopardy or what? >> I don't know what to do anymore. >> What? I mean, what I mean, but that was kind of dramatic there. >> Well, well, maybe I told him that it was serious. You better get I'll take the responsibility for >> Why are you smirking? >> Anyway, so anyway, >> why are you smirking? >> Why are you smirking? >> Well, sit down. You better I mean, we got a lot of a lot of things to discuss. >> Have Have uh I bring you up [ __ ] siren thing. >> Were you involved when he was taken to Albert Lee before? >> I was trying to make I was mean to you a little bit. It's a lot of people are Andy. It's it's it's something I use too. So, so don't sweat it. And you did apologize. So, um yeah. Um I was there for that just very briefly. Um I wasn't part of the majority of the call. I was just mostly there with him in the hospital to take over for a officer. >> I was going to end my life. So, and I was really mentally disturbed. So they had to him to when I went and smoked a cigarette, he had to come out there with me so I didn't hurt myself, you know. >> Sure. So yeah, what what is >> basically Andy, what happened today? >> A long time they have been uh using my kids against me, so to speak. >> Okay. >> And now they woke woke me up. Woke me up and said that I need to take a drug test and then they'll go get my kids. And I said, "Okay, yeah, you'll find weed." >> We're in the back on the north side of the res >> anyway, why why do I got to [ __ ] just wake up and take a drug test? >> Okay. >> And so then now, >> Andy, we love you and we're worried about >> and I've asked if you if mom loved me, she I asked her two simple questions a long time ago that she never answered. >> Andy, we're in our mid70s. >> I know. And I'm sorry that Christa did this to us, Dad. I'm sorry. And Andy, Andy, I come here every day and I worry whether you're going to get out of this bed. >> I know. It's depressing. It's depressing. >> Well, you admit to depression. >> A lot of it's caused between because of my mother, though. A lot of it's you're blaming it on someone else. And And >> I say, >> I I've I've got a question. Andy, are >> is the the depression diagnosed? >> Uh >> are are you taking anything for the depression, Andy? I I used to, but it it just it didn't do anything. >> Didn't do anything to me. >> Okay, that's fair. All right. >> And it's just the circumstances in life here, you know, like uh my mom, she never once stood up for me in this evil divorce ever. She always did what was best for her and the kids. Um >> Okay. >> Yeah. And then my fat [ __ ] sister who is on the phone has betrayed me so many times and has never got down her on her fat [ __ ] knees and apologized. >> Okay. Okay. >> And there's a lot more to it, sir. You just can't understand by coming over here. >> And and no, I'm not going to try, Andy. I just, you know, I got to answer the calls, my friend. >> Um >> I know. So, so >> this [ __ ] might me and my family up a little bit more, too. >> Let me look, help me understand. So, just today they woke you up out of bed. I don't know. It's 9:30 now. 9:00. Can we say? >> 8:00. 8:00. >> Okay. So, so they asked that you get up and and take what? Like a urology test or what are they going to have you do? >> I said, "Sure." As mom as soon as mom answers those two questions. Okay. Then they go on this big spill about blah blah blah. >> Okay. >> And it's just been basically me talking and nobody listening. >> Okay. >> Mom, did you explain the whole Christmas deal now? That's why a lot of my frustrations are coming from. >> What did the counselors say about >> Did you Did you Oh, and then a lot of this, too. We have a counselor that my mom got for her and I to improve our relationship. >> Okay. And now somehow the last session Mom, would you Mom, that's bugging me. Would you please hang that up, please? >> Duh. >> No, I'm not. >> You turn it down if it's an annoyance. I I understand what you're saying. >> Um >> uh so basically I we've had a therapist. >> Okay. >> How how often do you guys go see >> It's been I don't know half dozen times now, I suppose. Um >> Okay. But really, it's been one-sided where I got I got tricked into going there because I was mom and I were getting a therapist together to improve our life. >> So far, we've had six six sessions >> and we have never addressed one thing that about mom and I. >> Okay. And so at the end of the session, our last session, the therapist said some [ __ ] and I said, "Okay, I'm going to I'm going to leave you leave you on this." I told looked the therapist in the eye and I said, "You know, sir, we got here uh we got this therapy because of you and I or because my mother and I. How come we have not addressed a single issue about my mother and I?" And then I asked my mom this question. How come we haven't talked about that? And uh she does what a typical woman does because my ex is doing this to me a lot. You ask a question and they say nothing. Nothing. Nothing. How come you can't answer my question? >> What was what was the two questions you posed today that you wanted her to answer? >> I wanted her to answer that one. Why did we get a therapist? >> Okay. >> Why did we get a therapist? and we once have not addressed a single thing about you and I. >> Okay, >> that's question number one. >> Okay. >> And question number two is why did you screw up my Christmas again even though that I planned ahead of time well in advance was that in and when you say that Andy do you mean like having you placed into a facility? I can't remember. Is that were you in Albert Lee um over Christmas there? Is that what you're talking about? Or this is something completely different? I can't remember. >> 3 years now. My mom and my two sisters >> have betrayed me so many times with talking to my ex. >> Okay. >> I told there when Christa reaches out to mom, what do you say? Coulter events are no longer part of your concern. You [ __ ] fake [ __ ] Anyway, so far the last three years, my Christmases have been screwed up because the culter women communicating with my ex. >> Okay. >> And then they blame it on they blame it on my lack of communication. So, I started a year and a half in advance now and I got it and they [ __ ] it up again. Didn't you, Mom? >> Okay. >> Okay. There you go. Now, how come he doesn't know all this, Mom? if you have him over here. >> Uh you I a person can't communicate everything that's going on over the phone. >> Woman, you don't have to communicate anything either. >> All right, Andy. So So you pose these two questions to her. She didn't answer them is what it sounds like you're telling me. >> She hasn't answered them for a long time. >> And and then what? >> And then here we are. Because because I because I asked why there's a lot more to it. Ob of course uh obviously yeah and and again you know I'm not going to I'm not going to stand here in front of you Andrew and try and understand every little last detail of it. I don't think that's even possible since I'm not involved. >> Quit quit putting [ __ ] away and just listen please. And oh, one of them, one of them, one thing I said to my dad, I I've watched my dad here the last last three, four days mowing this lawn. And I used, Dad, I can do it in two hours. And I asked him that and he says, "Oh, that's paranoia." Like, what the [ __ ] is the kind of answer is that? How come mowing the lawn takes three [ __ ] days? >> Do you want me to do it quick? >> Why are you treating me this way? Because you because these culture women, Dad, have took you into another place, sticking up for them. You and I were so good. We used to be best friends >> when these women did this to us. >> So, [clears throat] >> John hasn't been involved. >> Us, Jackie. >> John hasn't been involved in any of this. I would assume it's a >> I would assume it's like a family therapist >> a little bit. I'm sorry. >> Why don't you cut it off? >> Well, it's it's a I don't John and I and Andy met with the counselor once, I think. >> Okay. >> And then let's see if you remember why he asked that. >> I met with him a couple of times. >> Okay. >> Gotcha. >> Because we just don't know what you're doing is is that They uh >> I don't know if they'll see any. >> Oh, and then that day that you guys called me in. >> I have insurance so they you know. >> Sure. Where where do you where do you guys go for that? Is that um >> Okay. Sure. Yep. Yep. Right off of that insurance. >> They are they are a great facility, a great team. >> So I'm really the one scheduling the >> Okay. >> And that's why he didn't want mom there, right? And in my mind, we're there just to help mom and I. >> So, so Andy, could you explain I mean, what do you think prompted mom or dad's who whomever was the original caller? I'm not sure. Do you do you know what would have prompted my response today? >> Because I honestly because mom >> and dad's protecting mom from answering a question that may feel uncomfortable. >> Okay. Okay. feel make her feel uncomfortable. >> Did you tell me that question, Andy? >> Give me Give me one second, guys. >> Yeah, go ahead. >> 115. We're on the north side of the property back by the the fifth wheel trailer. >> I do have another deputy, Andy. I just want to let you know he's going to be walking up. It's okay. I don't think he's needed right now, but he was called to this call. Just know that he is he's going to be with us momentarily. I had [ __ ] seven game warnings out in the middle of nowhere. >> Good thing it happened in the middle of nowhere, though. >> You know that that that situation that [ __ ] up my job, too. >> And because you guys called that time, I had I had a 60 $60 [ __ ] hour job. And because you guys called, I lost that job. >> Who called? >> I bet you did. So, so, okay, you guys started arguing back and forth because of what she had to say about these two questions or or this or that. Um, so far I'm not really understanding exactly >> confusing. >> So, no, I and I understand that at least that part of it. Okay. So, um things become verbally verbally escalate, you know, usually with an argument you guys are disagreeing something. Is there any any thoughts of harming yourself today, Andy? >> Not none so well whatsoever. >> You didn't threaten mom and dad or anything. >> No threatening. Just basically asking my mother to answer a question that makes her feel uncomfortable. >> Okay. >> And because women because my ex is a social worker and has worked the system to a tea, it's just so easier to say, "I'm scared." and just don't answer the question. >> Sure. >> You know, that's the woman's way. >> Could be. Okay. All right. >> So, I really want my mom and I to be better. >> Sure. >> I do. >> Well, good. >> I do. But mom has gave me nothing. >> She can't get better when you're harassing her. And >> well, if she answered the question back then, yeah, we could have moved on to a different subject because >> the problem and you are the solution. You need to fix yourself. This is not normal. >> This is not normal. >> This A and B conversation. See your [ __ ] way out of it. >> You knew at 8 a.m. they were coming to wake you up to get a drug test. And the only >> No, I did not. I said, "Yeah, I will [ __ ] take a drug test when mom answers that question." That was part of the thing. >> Because you cannot have your kids without taking a drug test. >> Jesse, shut the That is No, that is not true. That is not true. >> So it's Oh, hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Back step. Back step. >> Mom, I can't have this convers. This conversation is between you and this man. >> So hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. >> Stop. >> So So is this drug test something like a whole >> It's something they made up. Okay. It's it's it's not from I >> No, not courtappointed. Nothing. >> Okay. Okay. Good. Good. Good. Good. All right. Just curious. >> Whatever. >> [ __ ] >> Whatever context she's putting into this >> system. Oh, weed's legal. >> Prove it. >> We hope it is. >> It is none of that's none of your business. >> I want to make it very clear to you all. >> Listen. for their life. >> The policeman is talking. >> Oh my god, you guys are so ridiculous. >> I want to make it clear to you all that I can't make him take any drug tests. Yeah. >> Okay, just so you're aware. And I'm I'm guessing that's not why you called me over here today, but >> it is. >> I You know, >> he hasn't had a steady job in >> two months. >> Okay. >> I mean, Andy, steady means like >> Well, well, yeah. I I mean, you know what? >> He probably hasn't worked steadily for over two years. That is not true. That is not true. >> Okay. Does that have I mean, does that have something to do with the drug test or I don't >> No, no, no, not at all. >> Depression. >> Anyway, depression. >> Okay. >> He he was taken to Albert Lee because of you in his system. >> Because of you. And okay, >> he told me that he didn't learn a damn thing. And but >> Muriel's the kindest woman in the world. The reason he's here, >> not to me. She hasn't. Not to me. >> That you know, we're afraid he is suicidal. >> He has talked about >> Shut up, Jesse. >> Okay. >> And uh >> I got to make more cigarettes if she's going to be here. >> I'll get my machine and do it right here. >> The the drugs are a roller coaster. Sure. Sure. Okay. Okay. I And like I said, guys, you know, with marijuana now being legal, I I can't do much about that. You know, that's that's the same thing. >> That's the same marijuana. >> Okay. >> Oh, so and that's what prompted the test is you think there's something else? >> I think it's >> okay. >> Okay. >> Not we. Not we. >> Okay. Andy, this is >> Andy. Andy's not himself. This is not the way my son is. Not the way I raised him to be. >> I know. I know. >> I'm worried about his future. I And I'll be honest with you, >> I have prepared myself for my son's death because I come out here sometimes and I don't know whether he's going to get out of bed before he hears stories about that kind of stuff all the time. >> Yep. And I just love my son, >> right? I want him to be okay, >> but I can't I'm not having any influence on >> Yes. women have [ __ ] me up. Even the help I can't provide >> and but I I I just worry about you, son. And that and that's not my my Christmas got screwed up again because of these. >> I cannot We've been married 53 years. Do you think I'm going to let you sit there and berate my wife >> when I even I when I even when I have proof >> you're important to me, but she's way more important. >> I know that even when I had proof that mom disobeyed or broke our trust, you did nothing. >> You did nothing. >> Andy, I don't I I think it's unreasonable to expect to be able to control who people can and cannot communicate with. I mean, that's that's that's my personal opinion, man. Basically, uh, if you knew more about what happened to me, >> sure. >> You would understood that that my mother should have done that. >> Andy, you're playing the you're you're 40 years old and you're playing the poor old me card. >> 50% of Americans get divorced, Andy. >> Okay, thank you. You [ __ ] 65%. I'm a teacher. I know this stuff. >> That makes no [ __ ] sense. >> But Andy, what I'm telling you is I want you to get better and and I don't know. Okay. I want you. >> You think we can make him get better? >> No, we can't. >> And your your beloved story right there, Dad. Why does that bug me? >> Dad, >> I don't know. Go ahead. Tell me. >> I told you never to use stories about person that just went through a divorce, right? Was not. You know damn well it hasn't been. Why are you smirking, >> Andy? People get divorced all the time. That's your circumstances are sometimes the same, but they're the same. >> No, they're not a lot. >> No, they are not >> because you spend a night in jail. >> Because easy. It's that [ __ ] easy. >> Well, maybe they overreacted. But >> why did she swat time? >> Tell tell them the story then since you SWAT time. because you are following. >> Okay. >> Because you were accused of being abusive. >> Okay. >> For today. Yeah. >> Okay. >> What's What's the main reason why we were called today? >> Because she she didn't answer a question. >> It's It's not because she didn't answer the question. It's It's what happened after that, Andy? Would you agree? I mean, so so what happened after that? >> I basically just answered, "Yeah, I'll do it. Take take answer my question then. Answer my question. Answer my question. Answer my question. I'm annoying like that and then that's why they call. >> Andy, would you go right now and take a blood test? >> As soon as mom answers those questions. >> I don't even know question. >> See, it's got to be a give take. It just can't be taken. >> Andy, are you on probation? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. No release conditions or anything like that? >> Okay. >> Andy, is there any answer that they could give you that would satisfy you? Cuz at this point, I don't I'm I'm not confident that I I I feel like anything she's going to say is going to be contradictory to what you want to hear from her. >> I just want my mom and I to be better. That's all. >> Okay. So, you getting better. >> Okay. Sounds good. >> That's how are you going to get better, Andy? >> You give me a give me a job that you think that will improve my life. And that'd be step one. Andy, >> we can't give you a job. >> And I've looked. I've looked. It's everywhere. >> I don't Andy, there's jobs everywhere. Go to work. >> Okay, sounds good. >> I will apply for one for you. >> Shut the [ __ ] up. You're out of my life now. >> Shut the [ __ ] up. >> What can we do for you guys today? [laughter] >> Harass me all the time. >> And all I do is try. >> I think for the first time today, I've felt a little afraid or uncomfortable around my son. >> Okay. >> First time ever really I and and uh it's a terrible feel. >> This is comical. This is really comical. and and and we were at counselor yesterday, Brian up there, and he and he told me he he said something bad's going to happen to Andy, >> and he said, uh he gave me a name of a woman that we're contacting now. And and he's talking, Andy, do you know what civil commitment is? >> No. >> It means when they send you away. Well, >> and anyway, we don't want that, >> but we need you to get better >> and we need you back to work. And I think the best way to get to better mentally is is hard work. >> You're a great worker. So, I know that they're great workers. I know that, >> but you got to go to work. >> Whether it's stocking shells or picking rocks, you got to go to work. >> Sure. >> And I understand we allow him to be here. I primarily because of your mother >> because she knows that she betrayed me so many other times. >> I would have had you out of here a long time. >> That's fine. And I told you a long time ago the way you treat >> I told you long time ago that coming back to Tracy was the worst mistake of my life. >> Okay, then then it's time to leave, isn't it? >> Sure. >> Andy, can you come can I talk to you in private over here? >> Yeah. >> So, >> so can you can you guys explain to me? So you come and did you know? Yeah, >> that was something. Well, was it scheduled though? Like he knew you guys were going in the morning. >> We didn't have an appointment. >> Okay. >> But uh the whole place is just rolling. I >> mean with >> it's not good, man. with with with nothing to look forward to for the next day or nothing to be accountable for. I mean, that's how things kind of end up. Okay. So, sorry. Yes. You talked about it. We came this morning, offered him the the urinary exam. Then what happened? >> Well, like he was talking right there. That's how he was. And he he was just very angry. I I have drunk kids and I can't do that. I call Marshall. There are places that go for free. You >> you can schedule something through the Tracy Hospital. That's a clinic. I don't know what they're you might be able to go to an urgent care and get a little faster treatment. Um, >> but it's at this point in time, I'm just not able to mandate that on my end. >> I understand. But that's what precipitated all of this. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. >> So, so he just he just got worked up. He said he pushed something over or what? >> He was holding um >> I had about six dog bowls and I was walking toward the house with the dog bowls to clean them cuz they were [ __ ] You see what [ __ ] This is my house. This is my home. I don't need this >> all in that fire pit. >> He's strong. I mean, he built a fire pit here. >> Well, >> and he's a great worker. >> I had all of these poles. >> Great worker. >> Yeah. >> And I was going to the house and he came up very, very angry. >> I do want to say that we have a >> punch them out of my arms. >> Okay. >> Am I on your phone? >> Yes, you are. >> Okay. I want to say that I my sister and I are both on the line and I was I called my mom because we always do our morning phone call to check in prior mostly because I'm worried about their safety with my brother at the house. >> Okay. >> And I called them and we have a recording of this morning's conversation. I recorded the phone call and he was going just off about the same rhetoric about that we ruined his Christmas Christmas and things that are so irrelevant to what he's completely deflecting taking his drugs because he can only see his kids when he provided visits >> parents. The parents have to go get them. They do this every other week. And every week, I mean, since he went into the um Albert Le, okay, well, now you have to take a drug test before you go see your kids because he's on mask. This is not normal behavior. This is not how he talked to your parents. And he and they told him that they will be doing a drug test today. So, they get up and and they I don't even know what time he came home. My mom and dad were already in bed. They go into his camper and they're like, "Okay." And they were nice. Uh she said, "Okay, time to get up and take a jump shot test." And he instantly got I raped. >> Okay. >> Partially because he's probably deprived. >> Sure. >> And um and it just escalated from there. >> I mean Christmas and this is the other. >> Hi there. >> Hi. Sorry. He lived in Wyoming in >> so he was getting so escalated. I recorded him on my phone and it's not um she didn't simply ask and I I feel like um what my parents were dealing with and what Andy is trying to describe his behavior that does not accurately describe the screaming, the following around the house, following outside screaming. Uh my parents at one point were hiding in their car. So I that I called him because I'm like enough is enough. >> Okay. >> Like and he won't get off he won't get off their property. He told him by the past he has to get off their property. He has he has not had the job. The job that he has referred to is by monthly bridge companies for years and he would show up when he wanted um once a week. That wasn't a nice job he lost. Okay. >> He's not been employed for 3 years. He has been in a mental health crisis for um and the what my brother was describing and what my parents are trying to articulate is not really more screaming things like that all the time. I live in Wyoming and when my boyfriend calls them every five minutes and when they cancel she screams at them. It had been 3 years of him just harassing and screaming and I just I just felt that I needed you guys to deescalate him and he just like >> okay how much your parents would >> call you and say it wouldn't last 24 hours until he got kicked out of that camera like they have to leave probably a dozen times per day and come right back. >> Okay. And um so it's just it's just like I feel like parents are following too much and I feel like the behavior is just escalating and like and I have talked many a time that it's going to escalate too far one day and he has been like and to be perfectly frank with him in three years he just really does speak to me. It's like I'm fat >> and so like when we have businesses we don't include him because I don't feel safe. >> Okay. >> And so like he like he doesn't understand he's unable to see how his behavior affects those around him and he's like I mean we've we've all we've offered all of Franc's we have said I have offered to pay for his hotel. I've offered to pay for his gas money because I live in Wyoming and my sister lives in the Black Hill and we are fully employed functioning adults and we have offered to pay his way to come for us at Christmas that he doesn't control for him and he um he doesn't want that. He doesn't want things to be good. He want he wants to thrive in anger. And so um all of the reasons of like why we have ruined his life is not accurate. It's just up because we we have offered this but like I will not sleep in the same room or under the same roof with him because he's so angry. Okay. >> You know and I have two small children and I'm not going to let that you know. Y >> so and he only courted paper and so my parents on those supervisit every other weekend and I have told and advised my parents to use that in their favor make him second in line if he wants visitation because because honestly them being this version of their dad is not the best Right. >> Sure. Um, sure. >> You could use you can use those visitations. You do this for me, you do this, you step in line, I want to see three job applications, then we will have then I'll go get your kids and you will have them for three days. >> Whatever. So then what they started doing is this is the second time they've had a consequence because the first time when I said when he um stole their phones and drove off in the middle of the night and like um made a really big domestic thing was when they told him when I advised them not to get the kids the next day because of his behavior and that he needed a plan. That is when he stole their phones and drove off and got him something to our home. >> Okay. And so now he has been acting so iate and it's been he's been in this episode for going on, you know, mental health cycles. He's been on this one for like two weeks or three weeks. My mom was visiting me in Wyoming and it was excessive. It was excessive and it always is every time. But like so then I said, "Well, I think he's back on this." >> Women get dressed and now he's going off because he knows what's going to come up and he knows he's not going to see his kids. So he does not have custody of his kids. >> Okay. >> Parents have been supervised. >> Gotcha. >> He cannot meet alone with his kids. >> Okay. >> My little >> Okay. Nope. That's fine. So I Could you elaborate a little more on the you guys were in the car before we showed up? >> Oh, we >> Yeah, cuz they were He was following them around, screaming at them. Okay. >> They went in the car to get away from him. >> Okay. >> They were in the car to get away from him. >> Okay. Um, now was that because you just wanted to get away from her or you were afraid that he would physically harm you? Well, >> I I I think we reached the point where I'm I'm worried about him hurting himself all the time. >> Okay. But but were you guys afraid that he would hurt you guys? >> What? Today? >> Yeah. >> First time ever when he knocked those bulls out of my arm? I felt I felt the look in his eyes and the anger. >> And then he continued on, didn't he, for a long time? And you know, we we just uh he needs help that we can't provide. And and uh you know, uh everything that's happened since the divorce, he's kind of exacerbated. He's under a court order supervision with his children. >> Okay. That's what she was just explaining. >> Yeah. Anyway, uh and he screwed that up by showing disrespect to the judge. >> Sure. Okay. I'm the judge, you know. So, it's just it's just spiraling in its worst. And and he's, you know, I'm probably the most optimistic, happy guy in the world. This isn't going to change my perspective at all. I've never drank. I never smoked. I married the best woman in the world. And I've the Lord has blessed me and everything. And he is I just don't even recognize my son anymore because I tried to share all the joy that I had in my life. He went on a lot of trips together and did a lot of everything together. >> Okay. >> And I can't say I'd be around him right now. >> I gotcha. So what >> it's just But >> what what do you guys want to see done today? >> What >> What do you guys want to see done today? >> I don't know. I don't know. >> Yeah. Do you want him gone? You told me last week that he was going to be gone June 10th. >> Well, it's him gone. >> It's a little more complicated than that. Since he's been allowed to be here by Minnesota state statute, he has residency here. Even though he's not living in the residence, he has residency in the property. Since you guys have allowed him to be here for however long, it doesn't basically >> it's it's a little different than that, but but essentially, >> well, you kind of have to assault, >> okay, >> to be honest with you. I mean, if we're breaking things out of people's hands and then we're hiding in our car because we're fearful of him, that's kind of a bigger issue that we have to deal with, >> right? >> You know, he's our he's our only son and we and we uh down there >> I I am truly worried that he's going to hurt himself >> and he is already. Who in his right mind would take meth knowing that 15 20% of it's laced with fentanyl? And >> I agree. I fentanyl or not, I believe that is a poor decision. But I I get what you're saying, John. >> Anyway, and and so I I just want him better, but he is not going to get better until he acknowledges he has a personal problem. >> So not uh but Mariel today when So he broke the the bulls out of your hands. Is that correct? Becca just heard a little bit. >> She saw it. >> All right. Were you scared? >> I don't know. >> What was going through your head when it happened? >> Yeah, she was scared. She was just scared. >> I think she was scared. >> No, that was this morning. This morning? >> Yeah, that was this morning, >> I guess. So, since I've been here, I've heard a couple times like we're, you know, obviously we're worried about him and his safety, but I heard you guys make mention of you're worried about your safety. What specifically happened today that kind of has made you worried about your safety of of him harming you? >> The rage, the anger directed towards us and it didn't go away. He didn't walk away. >> Sure. >> I mean, we're his parents. He knows no boundaries anymore. He comes in. He I don't think he has any food. He's coming into our house in the middle of the night and taking things, you know. >> Okay. >> And and I mean he he will not come in while we're still up. >> He sees her as so >> the best woman in the world. I mean, and he has so much to lose. I mean, he just has to get and and we're okay with him being here for a while if he had a steady job. You said that because she likes to keep an eye on him if he's gone. He was living in a in a trailer court on a fisherman's trailer court out by a lake by Lake Preston out there. >> Okay. and he saw he paid down a couple thousand dollars and they threw him out of there, didn't they? >> And then he came home and I I don't know. I I I think it's got to maybe get worse for him and and yeah, I would like him gone. I would Well, I'll be honest with you. Would you like him gone, Mom? >> Yeah, that's right. Thank you. based on what's being said today. Okay, he's probably going to be placed under arrest for domestic assault. Okay, now before we get wound up, okay, understand sometimes this is this is what makes things get better because now we have >> that's the call court ordered help, right? We can get you can work through typically, you know, there's going to be some anger management. There's going to be some possibly some sort of >> it was an assault. It might have been like a simple assault, but it he didn't punch me in the mouth. >> Yeah. anytime someone inflicts fear to a family member. >> There you go. >> Okay. >> So, and and and that's what And we're required by law. >> I I am willing for him to be involved with law enforcement if it gets him better and he looks at himself >> and I can't make guarantees. He's going to have to look at himself. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Sometimes there has to be consequences for our action. >> You guys are really good. You are really good with your demeanor, aren't they, >> Mar? So, >> so >> I think that's where we're at for today. >> Okay, John. >> Sounds sounds good to me. I completely agree. >> Okay. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. >> Not my show to take over. I just kind of wanted >> one of us will come talk to you. >> Okay. Okay. >> Get a ID from him. I guess we should have everything. Okay. Gotcha. I would say >> okay launch it out there and you got to be >> okay. Okay. >> What? >> You're under arrest us for domestic assault. >> Are you serious? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> For what did I do? >> For inflicting B or fear of bodily harm. Okay. What the [ __ ] Other one. There you go. >> Are you serious? >> Yep. >> Okay. All right. Hold on. We got to double lock these so they don't tighten up on >> Oh my god, guys. Are you serious? >> Sorry, Andy. >> So, uh, no, your parents didn't want this to happen, okay? But we have an obligation under Minnesota state law. Okay. Okay. So, the state's pressing charges, not your parents. >> But how did how did the states do? >> So, >> it's it's fear. You you scared them. >> Yeah. >> Andy, by your by your actions. >> I don't believe I did. >> So, >> what whether you believe that or not, that is our determination. Okay. >> I'm sorry. >> Why, guys? This is so unfair. So unfair. >> Come on, guys. Andy, >> let's not make this harder than it needs to be. Okay. Do >> you have anything on you at all? Okay, >> easy. Just relax, man. We're not going to hurt you. >> You want this left in your car? >> Where am I going? >> You You'll go up to Marshall. >> Are you serious? Dad. Hey. Hey. >> Dad. >> Don't make this. >> Guys. >> Dad. Are you serious? You looking at this? >> They didn't want this to happen. >> Dad. >> Hey. >> No, it is not. Dad. Andy. >> Dad. >> Mom. Andy. Come on. When do I get out? That'll be up to the judge. What the [ __ ] is the world coming to? Are you guys serious? You guys know I'm not a bad person. >> You didn't say you're a bad person, Andy. I I don't think you're a bad person at all. >> Got him. What the [ __ ] >> I think you need some help. That's what I think >> for being honest. >> Can we put the cuffs in front, please? >> The other side. >> No, they should. >> All right, Andy. Um, need to talk to your parents a little more. I'll be right with you. Okay. I'm going to turn the air on for you so you don't get too hot back here. Okay. >> Can they can they if if I will leave today. I will do everything in my power to get my life straight, but this is not the right right way. Guys, >> I I'm sorry you feel that way, Andy. We We got to go through with this today. Okay. >> You want sit down? No, I can stand. I I won't be long, guys. >> Okay. >> Um, so what I'm going to run you through, it's a domestic violence risk assessment, okay? It's a series of questions. They're going to be tough questions. Okay. Um, I just want you guys to answer them. >> I don't think we need to do violence. >> Well, that's what they charged him with. >> It's part of our policy, ma'am. >> It's standard. It's probably the lowest form of arrest there is. Right. What does that mean? >> He said domestic violence is instaling any fear >> is correct. >> So today's charge is going to be domestic assault fear. >> If you look at the Minnesota state statute, it's a typically I believe it's a misdemeanor charge. Okay? He'll probably be seen by a judge tomorrow more than likely. Um let's just get through this guys and I can answer any other questions you have after that. Um >> can we do it here? I can. >> Sure. Yep. Okay, pull. >> I don't need to sit down. I'm good, guys. >> Okay. Well, give me >> Sure. >> He's going to read it, I think. >> Yep. >> All right. Sit down. Listen. >> Does Andy have access to a firearm? >> No. I I I have three here locked in a truck. >> Okay. >> And And his are at a friend's place. Okay. We have the few that he he took that day. >> Few there, including the best hunting rifle I ever had. >> So, but he he does he know where they are. >> Does he know where they are? >> The firearms that are here yet. >> Um, well, I'm willing to bring him the the three other ones down to this police station. >> No, I I don't need them. I just need to know beyond reasonable doubt that he does not have access to them. So, I guess why I'm asking >> He doesn't have any access to them. Okay, >> they're hidden in a pile of stuff in the lock car. >> Okay, guys, just just because there are firearms in the house, I'm going to say yes. Okay. >> Um, >> well, they're in the garage. It's not the house itself. >> Has Andy ever used or threatens to use a weapon against you or >> No. >> Children? No. Okay. Um, has Andy ever attempted to strangle you, cut off the circulation in your neck, or impede your breathing in any way, including covering your mouth and or nose? >> No. >> No. Okay. Um, has Andy ever threatens or tried to kill you? >> No. >> Okay. Has the physical violence increased in frequency or severity over the past year? It's been like this for a couple years. >> I I think what, you know, >> he's had such hate and rage about his divorce and then he's medicating himself with chemicals. >> Sure. >> And so in that way, I think he's more angry now than he was 6 months ago. >> Okay. >> We had we had visits here, Mel, correct, with the children. And it was fine, but the last visit here was a disaster. And that was how long ago? A month ago, >> six weeks ago. >> Uh, >> okay. >> He was berating us in front of his kids. >> Oh, really? Okay. >> Okay. Um, a tough one. I'm just reading what's on. >> No. >> Okay. >> No, I understand. Um, >> you know, I've worked in law enforcement my entire life. I was a teacher. >> That's right. >> Convince them >> to find a good job that they like to do and get someone to pay you to do it, providing it's legal. >> And you know what, guys? >> I I find it completely reasonable as whatever, you know, stipulations he is to be at the house for him to to work as a full grown adult. Um, so I'm on your side there. >> I I think he's such a good worker and that if if he was at a job, he'd throw himself into it. I mean, >> you know what he's been doing lately? Picking asparagus. >> Oh, sure. >> He's just finding something to do, right? >> But he's not going to work, >> right? He went and found all those field rocks out there and built that fireplace up cuz uh you know, he knew it had to be a certain code or safe enough, but he's just uh he needs to be working and I think a lot of this would be better. >> I psychologically messed up, >> right? Um does he try to control most or all of your daily activities? Not activities, but I mean verbal verbally I suppos. >> Sure. >> I you know I I have uh dogs and u um our our dogs are really good. Uh that was part of his business that he was working at. I can't I don't really feel I can trust him along with the dogs because is he going to give them the kind of care they deserve. >> Sure. Sure. Okay. >> Now, that kennel back there, we didn't need that, but he built it because it kept him busy, >> right? >> I think then he had a little money and I think he bought the panels from Menard or whatever. I don't know how he survived it. I I I don't I I uh >> he's he's not eating meals with you guys or anything. >> No, no, we we never see him grilling stuff out there. >> Sure. Yeah. Out there and he fishes and eats the fish. >> He's kind of gone >> um he's he's kind of kind of gone uh uh rural, you know. >> Sure. He's living off the land, so to speak. Um, is he constantly or violently jealous? >> Jealous. >> I wouldn't >> I think in a in a little bit his business partner is I'm very good friends with his business partner >> and uh >> jealous because every time my parents visit us he harasses them. >> Okay. Okay. But yeah, I think he's jealous that I have a relationship with his business partner. >> Okay. >> Everything he goes on, he calls every other minute. >> Okay. Gotcha. Gotcha. Um, has he ever threatened or tried to commit suicide? >> No. He's told me a couple times that he's thinking about it. >> Okay. and and uh I I I think the way he talks about his exwife really bothers me and I don't think you know I I I just you know that's the mother of your children. How can you be that angry? >> Right. Okay. Do you believe that um he will assault you again or try to kill you? >> No. >> No. Okay. >> What I do believe I did, Mr. Ericson, was to let him give me a reason to call you guys. >> Sure. >> And that's where I'm at. I g I I went out there and I was prepared mentally to call you guys. And then he he at the top of the stairs, remember what he was screaming at me? He kicked me out of the house. Oh, call him. call him. Remember him screaming that? So I did. >> Um like Deputy Damoth explained to you guys, you know, sometimes this is what it takes for for people to get on the right track. And I I hope that is the case. >> I appreciate it. >> Um okay, >> I forgot your first name. >> John. >> John. Okay. >> Easy to remember, right? >> You you've been very nice to me and >> I appreciate that, guys. Um >> um >> did you ever find the owner of the dog? >> I did. I believe it was a Solstrm dog. >> Oh yeah. And I bet you they were very happy to get it home. >> They were indeed. Um just a few more questions left, guys, and I'll get out of your head or uh out of your hair. Um are there any pending or prior uh orders for protection criminal or civil cases involving him? No. Okay. I didn't think so either. >> Nip this in the bud if you can. Is there anything else that worries you um about your safety? >> I believe his ex-wife and her family have a couple restraining orders. >> Oh, really? Okay. >> I'm not sure that >> Okay. Um at the very least, >> uh that Christa's family has restraining orders. >> Oh, >> okay. Um is there anything else that worries you about your safety? >> No. Okay. Um, are you guys interested in So, we have a a organization that we typically refer people to. It's called RAP. It's typically a women's advocacy group, but they don't only do women. what they what the services they can provide you is well um resources for social services for Andy, you know, should he come back and he's looking for help in some way. Okay. Um they also uh a lot of times will help victims out with um like filling out certain uh civil orders and things of that matter. Are you guys interested? Yeah. So they >> I I've heard of that. I think I would. >> Okay. Um I can get you a wrap packet uh once we're done here. I'll run back to the car and grab one just so you guys can have it if you do need it. >> Yeah. >> Um here's the other thing I wanted to talk to you guys about. >> So it sounds like he's reached his deadline of when you guys wanted him either working or out of the house, right? It's June 10th. Okay. So, I just want to explain to you guys again, per Minnesota state statute, um, just based off of the information I'm getting from you guys, I know he's been staying out here a number of months, he has established residency here at the house. Okay. If he >> our permission, >> no, >> he doesn't pay us anything. >> Well, well, well. Well, right. But it's it's what I'm saying is like if you guys call like today today if if all what would have happened is me asking him to leave. I can't do that because he is a resident here at the home. >> But you So what you're saying is >> unless >> I I cannot call you guys and have him removed >> unless a crime has occurred like it like it did today. Right. >> So here's here's what I'm going to tell you. If he's unwilling to to go find somewhere else to live and you guys want him gone, you'll have to go through the process of civil eviction through the courthouse. Okay, that's initiated typically um by calling a court administration and advising them that you'd like to start that process. They should be able to help you out with that. A rep may also be able to assist you. his residency now is Minnesota and he was a South Dakota. Uh so I would have to call the courthouse and tell him, "Hey, can I be connected to someone to help me?" >> Correct. >> With an order of eviction. >> Correct. Yep. Ex. Absolutely. Um so I that's all the questions I got for you guys. Do you have any any other questions? >> Appreciate you guys. >> Sure. Um >> thank you. I know you're a breezy man and >> sure >> his day was coming. >> Yeah. >> And and and we knew about it and and his drug he was scares the hell out of me because I really like this Brian. Remember what his last name is? >> Borisman. >> Okay. Is that the counselor? >> And he was really straight up. He said, "This isn't your son. This is drugs." and he said uh he uh he told us he's got to be off your property and uh you know if he doesn't go willingly I'll have to get an order of eviction. >> Exactly. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um >> but we're we're prepared for this. >> Sure. >> Uh we want what's best for him. I you know what we were starting on is a what did they call it? Mural >> uh commitment >> a civil commitment. So >> and that is hairy stuff. >> Yeah. I I would imagine I' I've never looked into the process myself. >> We were on the phone with someone talking about civil commitment this morning. >> Okay. >> And so that probably has to be put on hold. >> Yeah. >> Until Yeah. >> Until we hear how this goes. >> Yep. Um and like I said, he could be seen tomorrow. It could be a day or two. I don't know how long. Um Um Okay. So, let me let me grab that wrap wrap packet for you. >> Will he be in Marshall? >> Correct. Yep. That's where he's going today. >> Okay. >> Um let me grab that wrap packet for you and I'll be out of your guys' hair. I should get him on [clears throat] the Oh, okay. That works. >> Do you want to go through here? >> Um either either or. I don't
