But things quickly escalate after she takes off with her two children. Take a look. They didn't give me one. Did they come? They didn't have one in the bridge. Well, we can all figure that out. We still can take a look. I didn't have one. You didn't register, too. But they didn't bag any of your items. We normally bag your items for you. Huh? We normally bag your items. You need to get my pierce in the car, please. 300 dispatch for a 28. [snorts] Okay, so this is what we used to call uh see the officer holding a 44 suspect. 44 meaning theft, right? So retail stores will always call the police. Nine times out of 10, they have them in custody and then we go there and do the arrest and the booking procedures only. The store is responsible for showing up to court and pleading their case. Now, with that being said, it's petty theft, right? At least we think it is. Uh, and I want to say if it there's a threshold of a certain amount that can be a felony, but we don't know that yet. But this situation right here, again, we don't know what's coming. But she's not cooperating whatsoever. And I'm going to call BS because again, they have the evidence to prove that she didn't pay for any of these items, okay? Or any of this merchandise. Yeah, you got enough pursuit of That plate is a gray four-door car. We're going to be eastbound on Brown here from 640. Still eastbound out here. Passing 60th. It's a gray car, four-door, no plates. Still eastbound rounder. Stuck in traffic at 51st Street through the red light. Still eastbound on Brown here. What are we doing? 77 dispatch 758 in the area. Good. Go, go, go. In addition to that, she almost struck my squad in the parking lot. 331 300. What was the plate on that car? It didn't. It's got one in the back window. It's got no plates. It's a gray older gray. I think it's Chevy Impala four-door 74. I'll check southbound. 331. I got a crash southbound on Titonia Dean. Show me your hand. Stop. Stop running. Stop running. Get out of the car. Stop. Get down. Hand behind the back. I'm sorry. Behind your back. You're okay. Did you get hit? Did you get hit? No, I didn't. Okay. Behind your back. Stop. You're okay. Hey, look. [crying] [screaming] Why don't you get your hands behind your back? Before we go any further, whatever information or education I give you while we're watching this together, the saddest part about all this is that she dragged her kids with her in this whole situation. you know, the impact those kids are going to have, not just on the trauma that happens from that incident, but just, you know, with the police and here we are trying to bridge the gap uh between the police and the community, you know, just some thoughts. You let me know what you think. I'm poor. Please don't help me. Please help me. Don't do this to me. I don't deserve this. Please help me. Help me. What's your name? Go ahead. Can I call somebody? Please go. Please, please, please. Can I call somebody? Please. Can I call somebody? Roll up on your butt. Please roll up on your butt. Can I call somebody? Please update. Can I please just go? What's your name? Can I see my keys? No. Maybe you shouldn't drag him across the street next time. Can y'all please help me? I'm just a young mom and I'm by myself. Please. So dragging a kid across the street's a good idea? No, sir. I'm sorry. Please. That's what I thought. Can y'all please let me just go? Please. No. You're going to jail. Please. No. No. Ma'am, please. No. I can't go to jail. I can't go to jail. Please, we'll probably put him in a squad. Keep him warm. Stand right here. Please no. I can't go to jail. Yeah. Please no. Please no. No. You got to stay here with the No. [screaming] What? Please let me go. Please. No. Please let me go. Stop. I'm sorry. Please. I don't care what you are. Please can I go? I need to go. Nobody to go home. Search her. Can I call somebody to get my kids? Spread your feet. Can I call someone to get my kids? If you shut up, please. Be quiet. Please. How many kids are there? I was asking you [screaming] quiet. I needed the stuff. I'm sorry. It was just food. Please. It's just food. And toys for Christmas. Please. Can you understand? Putting your kid at harm is a good idea. lean forward other ways. Please, I don't have any other way. Please, please. And you know, maybe you think you don't have any other ways, [music] but there's got to be help. I mean, you can ask. It's a deep rooted issue besides committing a crime and, you know, having the police chase you, right? Felony evading is what we call it. Uh there's there's more to it than that. you know, if we pull back the curtains and go down that rabbit hole as to what you know, what she actually needs, you know, family support or there's got to be other resources for you to to help you to help you and your family. My kids need to go to my mom. Can't she do that? If you shut up, I told you that. Oh my goodness. Please, I'm sorry. What's your name? My name What's your first name? I haven't never been in trouble here. Please. Can I talk or are you going to keep talking? I will let you call someone, but you have to stop. Okay, enough. I don't hear anything out of your mouth right now. Hop over there. Let's finish what we're doing. [sighs] The more you fight with us, the longer it's going to take to figure out where your kid is going. Let's go. Let's go. I don't have my shoes. I Well, you lost it. Right here. Please. No. What did I just say to you? I don't want to stand back here. Please don't make me sit back. Don't get a choice. Please don't make me sit back here. Please. No. I will call CPS for your kids if you do not shut up. I'm not. Last time I'm talking to you, I was calling CPS and that's going they're going to go to somewhere. Those are my family, right? So shut up, please. Here, buddy. Hi. I just jumped out 99. You're cute. Ready. Where's your What's your squad? Uh, I think you moved it. Let's do your squad. We're going to take a seat and hang on. Officer Winkler. Okay, cuz that's not fun. That was fun. You're good hanging out with him. Yeah. Did this car come back from expired? I don't know if it comes back. I don't know what her name is, but it's expired like from two months ago. Let her know I keep calling her from a restricted number. Call her on messenger. Well, she's under arrest right now. I'm not sure what all her charges are. No, as far as what I just did just now. They chased me out of Walmart saying I was stealing. You're doing way too much. I'm being so for real with you right now. Nothing's changing the outcome right now. So stop. I don't want my kids to be taken. Please don't let them. We better find someone to take them then. I'm trying. I'm trying so hard. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hi. Hi, I'm Officer Anderson from the Brondale Police Department. Uh, your daughter is here. We have her under arrest. She's trying to see if you could come pick her kids up on the side of the road versus Lincoln. What's going on? Why is she even being arrested? So, here we we'll be right now. We're on 43rd and D. So, what's going on, baby? Why is my baby being arrested? So your baby was stealing out of Walmart and took the police on a high school chase when they tried to pull her over with her two kids in the back seat and crashed her vehicle. The [ __ ] up. Yeah. So the kids are out here now in the back of a police car. And baby, she just was scared and she just don't even know they've been raised down south. So all she was going to get for stealing out of Walmart in Milwaukee is a goddamn citation. She does not have to run. I agree with mom. That's all you had to do. Hey, you know what? You caught me stealing sight and release. She wasn't under arrest. This is Wisconsin. But see, they raised in the south. If you get caught stealing in the south, you going to jail. You understand what I'm saying, baby? She was scaring of it. That's all. I'mma tell you what it is now. That's exactly what it is, baby. Here I come. I was just dead sleep. I'm throwing on clothes as I'm talking to you. I'm coming to get my grandmother. Are you? Okay. Yep. We have the kids here. Okay. But the whole thing is now I know y'all know. Look, I'm from here. They from here, too. But they've been raised down south. Why did they chase her for retail theft? They don't have to. So, I can't answer that question. Okay. You understand what I'm saying? I I hear where you're coming from. That's where the problem at. She low down for stealing with them kids. That's a foul. You understand what I'm saying? But y'all know it's ice out here. Y'all know she's stealing and got kids as car. How the is you chasing her? Let her go with that petty. She going to come back and steal again and lock her the up. Why don't you take a kid on snow and ice below zero? Knowing she scared she going to fish tail that mother. She been down south all her life, baby. She don't know how to drive on this goddamn ice. She going to swing that [ __ ] out of control. I'm already knowing how this going to turn out. But her not knowing y'all ain't f to do but give her a ticket and tell her never to come back. She got panicking down south. You going to jail for stealing. They don't give a They got the time. Milwaukee don't. I ain't got time to pick up all you little mother. I'm trying to find mother blowing [ __ ] heads off and moving kilos around this [ __ ] We from a place that go past that stop time 435 and it's 8:20 your [ __ ] ass. I hear you. You know what I'm saying? I I completely understand. That's where the problem come in. But they wrong though for chasing her. Mom, I'mma call BS on that. They're not complet They're not wrong for chasing her. Look. Okay, let let me back up a little because uh your theory is that in down south they go to jail for it and that's it. Right. Am I understanding that? But you should have never chased her because she would have been sudden released and she would have stole again and then they would have ended up locking her up. Well, we're in the business of catching crooks, right? A crime, whether it's a misdemeanor or a felony, is a criminal act. And guess what? That's what we're in the business is to catch bad people. It's to catch crooks. Criminals for retail theft. That doesn't happen in Milwaukee. Don't chase mother. If they run they dumb ass out that door know they coming back. When they come back you know I know you right. You know you know I know you the same mother was in here stealing last week right that I couldn't catch. Oh okay. So you know it's your go today. Right. Uhhuh. Okay. Put your dumb ass hands behind your back. You came back like a fool anyway. The you understand what I'm saying. This girl got too much good going for herself right now. Hey grandma. [laughter] You looking at me. You have been on an adventure, huh? We write up our stuff, um, our reports and everything, and then that gets sent to the district attorney. They decide whether or not they want to, uh, charge her or not. And I'm going to tell them every thing I just said. Like I said, baby, that's when I went down south. I went to school to go to be the police. You understand what I'm saying? And I know what I know. They were never supposed to chase her. I hear end of the mother. You already know how that's going to end up, right? Yeah. Okay. If the right attorney and the right DA get on this case, had no business chasing her for a retail theft. I hear you. Throw that queen out. Please, please go home. I don't want to come here. I understand. So, you were at Walmart today, correct? Yeah. Okay. And I know it's Christmas time and everything like that. Were you just trying to find Christmas gifts for the kids and stuff so that way? I actually came near to that Walmart because it was the only one that had that prescription. So, I wanted to get my kids and my step kids some gifts for Christmas. I was short on money. I really wanted it for them. I'm sorry. You gave it back. I'm sorry. I understand. Right. It's Christmas time. You are going to buy for your kids. You want them to have obviously toys to open up on Christmas. Correct. Okay. So then when you left Walmart, did you see the police car behind you? I didn't I didn't look. You didn't look? No. Okay. Um at any point did you did you see the car? Did you see lights and sirens? Did you hear anything? No, you just were speeding away. I was far gone. You were far gone. So I couldn't tell. Okay. So did you see my lights behind you when you first got out of the car after you crashed? Oh, I saw other police cars coming though. I saw those cars and then so once you saw those cars, why did you instead of just stopping? Cuz then you grabbed your two boys, correct? And then you were carrying them across the road. Yeah. Okay. And were you just obviously I mean scared? You didn't want nobody to take the kids or anything like that? Okay. Final thoughts. Uh first and foremost, big shout out to Brown Deer PD. Look, the empathy with officers is just spot on with all these videos. you know, professional, respectful, and trying to get an understanding as to, you know, your actions, what happened. And, you know, the biggest lesson of them all in this particular case is it's just sad. It's it's a sad ending because she needs help and their family should be there for her. You know, there's got to be other ways besides just, you know, having the urge or desperate times calls for desperate measures and go ahead and steal and get kids. You know, on a side note, we as police officers do have like toy gift drives. uh maybe that part of that relationship with the community uh she can get involved and you know we love to give uh gifts for the kids in Christmas. So again, it's a sad ending uh to a sad story. Thank God you didn't uh injure anybody, right? You didn't cause any harm, especially your kids when you decide to evade the police and go on this high-speed chase. Okay, hope you learned something. Up next, I'm looking at how a routine call can turn into a deadly standoff with officers coming under gunfire. Get inside the house. He hasn't since I shot last. But that's over on my second channel where I'll be covering some of the most critical incidents in policing history. Okay. She received 27 months probation and she must complete the following: batter intervention, cognitive program, and parenting class. As a result of the violation, she served 15 months of state prison.
