On August 9th, 2026, officers began searching for a man after a homeowner discovered something unusual on his surveillance cameras. Officers soon spotted someone matching the description riding a bicycle nearby. >> There. There. All right, I'm Officer Habersham Qus Police Department. Okay. Come this way. Oh, ball fits well with the front of the greenhouse and ball. What's your name? >> Zack. >> Zack? >> Huh? >> Huh? >> Is there a reason you're stopping me? >> Yeah. Do you have any weapons or anything on you that I need to be alarmed about? >> I got a razor blade in my pocket. >> Okay, well then don't reach in your pockets for me now. Can you go and set your book back down for me? All right. I'm going to place your hands behind your back. And I'll let you know we're detaining you for now and then >> What's your name? >> Zack Baker. >> Zack? >> Why are you detaining me? >> You want to question him? >> Yeah. I'll go ahead and have you If you want the shaded side, probably the way it's cooler. >> You want to just >> Huh? >> pat him down really quick? Um all right, Zack. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him present while you're being questioned. Okay, having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> Not really, but I mean I don't even know why you want to talk to me. >> Okay, well I mean we can't talk to you without reading you your rights and if you want to talk to us and we can talk to you, but if you say no, then you can just read it on the A form. >> Well, I've been having a hard time here in Qus. Keep having things stolen from me. I just feel like it's it seems like someone doesn't want me here and they're trying to make me leave. And I've had I had a bag of tools worth like $400 stolen from me. I had a bag of clothes I had just bought I got paid, got some clothes. Sold them for it. Then I had two cell phones. I lost a One was stolen. One I think fell out of my pocket while I was riding my bike. >> Okay. >> Normally I'm a forgetful guy. So it's just like kind of seems strange to me forgetting things. And then um I get hired for to be an electrician. That's what I do at I'm a 12-year electrician. >> Okay. >> And I get there and I'm digging holes, you know, it's like why would you hire someone to be an electrician? And it just seemed like they were just giving me a hard time. So I gave them the two weeks notice. I left for another job that I had already landed. The weekend I had left, I go there on Monday and they told me they didn't want to hire me no more. And I think the company Yeah, it's ugly, right? You know, like I had left my job to go there and then they tell me that they can't hire me. So >> Um what what company was that? >> Electric. >> Electric. Okay. >> And you know, I I asked them. I said, I told them about it. I said, "Y'all wouldn't have going to have anything to do with that, would you?" And they said no. But it seems like they did. >> All right. Well, I'm going to tell you that that has nothing to do with why we're stopping you. Okay? >> I'm having a hard time. >> Hm? >> It's been happening >> I know. I hear you. I hear you. It's unfortunate, you know, and I'm sorry that you're having a hard time. Do you have anything on your person that's going to stick me, hurt me, or poke me? >> I'm I'm going to search >> when we search you. >> I have a razor blade in my pocket. >> Okay, which pocket? >> My left or right? >> All right. >> I got nothing. >> Um all right. Well, since you don't want to talk to us, um I'm just going to explain it to you. You are going to jail for trespassing. >> Where at? >> Um at a residence this morning. >> The one where I slept last night? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Use yours, baby. >> I'm I'm process of having a place to stay. What? >> Well, there's cops. They I was almost caught a few last night. >> No. About three nights ago. >> Okay. >> So, I've been out of there since. And I'm working on finding a place to stay. I found one for Tuesday. Tuesday, they're doing a background check and they're getting back to me. And then um I have another place I'm looking at um for I'm applying for part-time employment and I'm waiting to hear back from three employers about work for the job. >> Okay. >> Y'all took my car and that's the reason why I'm homeless. They did Y'all took my car and sold it off to me. >> Oh. >> That was two nights ago. >> I think I was there. I remember I wasn't there when you were sleeping in the car. I was there when your car got towed. What kind of car was it? >> Honda Civic. I'm in the process of going going through that. >> Down this camera also. I'm going to pick that those things up whenever you want. >> to sit Yeah, I'm going to sit you in the back of this car, okay? There's AC back there. All right, or you can sit on this side. Oh, this is on the way to the library. I have >> Is that your last mug shot? >> Yeah. >> And um we read him his rights, he doesn't want to talk to us. But, he wants to tell us his life story, so. I mean, he's down on his luck. Um and he's an electrician. So, I was asked He said that he got a job and then they had him digging holes. He got a job as an electrician and then he was digging holes and he kind of felt like they were out for him because of that. Um so, he left that job and then he got another job and then he went Monday and then they told him they didn't want him anymore. I asked what electrician company that was. He said it was um Chuck. But, he just mentioned Keith's Electric now, so I >> All right. was your first name, I'm sorry? >> I forgot. Zach. >> All right, Zach. Just have a seat back here for me. All right. I'm going to get all I got to gather all your belongings. There's nothing illegal or anything inside there that I'm going Okay, and there's nothing that's going to cause a problem with this here. Okay, you don't have anything else on your person that I didn't find any locations that would be considered as contraband, no drugs, no weapons. Okay. I I I I I give everybody the same opportunity, okay? Cuz if you bring anything out to the jail with you that I didn't find upon my search or our search just now, it's a introduction of contraband, which is a felony charge. Right now it's a it's a simple trespassing. You were somewhere where you you weren't supposed to be. >> I was just really just hard up in the line of bikes searching for opportunity. I rode my bike out there to the boats looking for work yesterday morning. Rode rode around, talked to a couple people looking for opportunity. Rode back. Um, I've been collecting abandoned bikes, broken-down abandoned bikes. I'm a fisher upper. So, uh Yeah, I was planning on fixing them all and selling them and maybe and getting a car. I got um word on a truck for $400. It's got a flat tire and it runs. So, I get $400, I'll have a truck and you know, I'll have something going on. I'm just like stuck in between. It's frustrating. Anyway, I found a place to work on these bikes yesterday. >> Where you from originally? >> Virginia. >> Virginia? >> Came down here on New Year's. >> Uh-huh. >> Uh, from Virginia. You ever been through a breakup, man? >> Yeah. >> Been through a bad breakup. Lost a lot of friends. And one day, I was just like, "Man, I'm so tired of this place." And I left. >> Mhm. >> I got to Miami. My second day there, I was drinking a beer, I fell asleep. My car got towed, impounded, leaving me homeless in Miami. That was my first time in my life I've ever been homeless. And uh, for 3 weeks, I was waiting to hear back from the union because they needed my birth certificate. And they sent it in the mail. So, I waited for it to get there. Waited 3 weeks to get a job. I got paid. And being as a whole situation, I was just mad at Miami, man. You know, just like having to be homeless. I was being robbed and stuff. And then So, I left Miami the second second I could. I got down here. My third My third day here, I was just like, "I'm on vacation." I got slammed on the head by this bouncer. Right where my my spine meets my brain. I mean, this horrible concussion. I called the cops about it. And they said they couldn't do nothing because it was a privately owned business. >> And now you got no car and you're kind of >> Yeah, well, the next couple of weeks apparently I was I was I remember vaguely I was wandering around looking for a job for like 2 or 3 weeks with this horrible concussion. Homeless, sleeping in my car. And not a single person offered to help me. You know, that's just the thing. I've always thought to myself, you know, like the world is a good place. Like people need help and people need help and people help them, you know. People need help and people help them, you know. People help them, you know. >> There are there are there are good people out there and then sometimes it's harder to find them others, but Exactly. I want I want to take care of this as quickly as possible. I want to get you out of the heat, get myself out of the heat. All right, we're going to try and get you all your property out there with you so it's easier. All right. Um they have a cage out there where we can store your bicycle. This is It's your bike. >> Yeah, I found that bike um at the bus stop. I think I think people what people do with that bike is they ride it when they need it and then they put it for someone else to use. And that's what I plan on doing. >> Okay. All right, well, it's in your possession right now, so as long as it's not reported stolen, then it'll come out there with us then. All right. So, just hang tight for me. All right, I'll be right I'll be right here. You feel Can you feel the AC now that I >> Yeah. >> You feel it? All right. >> It kind of hurts actually. >> What hurts? >> My back. >> Your back hurts? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Since you slammed me on the head, I've been in and out of the hospital. >> I have no insurance. >> Yeah. >> And I talked to you guys, you said you can't do nothing about it. And I'm sitting here in pain, hurting every day. I had a concussion. It ruined my life. And you guys are just like, we can't do nothing about it. And then, I'm I'm sleeping in my car, and I'm in so much pain I can't sleep. So, I end up sleeping on the floor. And you guys arrested me and stole my car. I mean, how hard would it to be to be like, "Hey, I see you're in need. Here's a person that can help you." Instead of me going through all this. >> I can't I I can't speak for what what happened there cuz I I was >> That's what I need, officer. >> I mean, I can look at I can look into it if it was if it was from our department. >> I'm an electrician. >> What's that? >> I said, I'm an electrician. >> Yeah. >> Fell asleep on a beach one day, and I was asking God, I said, "Please help me out of this situation." Never been in this situation. Don't deserve it. And the next day, I'm walking, come across this abandoned abandoned property. And I'm an electrician, and I've been doing construction my entire life. So, I thought to myself, seem like God was telling me, "You can fix up this house, and you can stay here." So, I started inquiring about this property. And um someone from the bank came like a day later. >> Yeah, I think >> It was like it was as if like my prayers were answered. >> Mhm. >> And I was pitching him my idea about what I was going to do to this house, thinking that my the situation that I was in was coming to an end. We go back to the property. I'm with him. I get out of his car. He's buying the property, signing the contract. He lives there right now. He's working on the property right now. Get out of his car. I smoke a cigarette. I get back in the car, and he offers me a place to stay in the meantime while I'm getting my things together. While I'm getting my ID back cuz at the time my wallet was stolen. And >> I don't want to cut you short. I'm going to I'm going to try to get >> Okay. >> I want to make sure I get all your belongings, all right? Let me Let me take care of that and I I have plenty of time to talk to you. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> He didn't say anything about paramilitary. He said He's from He's from Virginia. Can we change the location for the the offense? The offense will be a 34 37 Donald Ave, I believe. The 10-4 the The offense occurred 34 37 Donald Ave. I guess it happened the other night, too, at his sister's house a couple times, so >> The house right next door? >> Yep. >> He doesn't want to talk, but >> I mean, he He told me he was staying there. I would not question him. >> Where? >> At the house. >> I mean, when I said you're being arrested for trespass trespassing, he was like um the house that I slept at last night. >> Now, he even He said it again. >> Yeah. >> So, he said that I guess he missed his curfew at Yeah, I mean, it's This is actually not a motor vehicle. This man even He's registered to the kid. >> No, that's the um it's the title of the car. The title of the car that he said we sold to auction. Can you hold that really quick for me? >> I'm just debating what to do with these cuz they're >> You can put them back. >> Well, they're not his. >> Yeah, but we can't question him and ask him. We don't know if he's able to have them. And I'm not going to question him on it cuz he already >> I'm going to turn it >> involved. >> Turn it into property. I was going to I was going to get it into property. >> Yeah, but what if he's allowed to have them? I I already have documentation that he's in possession of them. So, >> Well, I asked my his wife to meet me here. >> Yeah. >> Well, he's not he's not married. He He went through a bad breakup from in Virginia. That's what brought him down here. >> Well, I have a collection of a broken-down bikes outside of Patty's Plumber Patty the Plumber's office. And I just want to make sure you guys know that it's mine and that nothing happens to it while I'm gone cuz um like I said, I plan on fixing them up and uh turning that into something for me. >> All right, give me one second. >> Yeah. I've been looking for a place to work on these bikes. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to fix them up. I was like, "Man, if I could just get the money for some inner tubes, I can um cuz I was working for One Call, like I said. What I did was I I picked up too many projects at the same time and I didn't finish one. What I should have did was I should have just got one project. Well, hell, I was Honestly, I was planning on leaving here, you know, but I would love to do it with Joseph. >> The man was charged with trespassing on property other than a structure or conveyance. According to police, surveillance footage showed him entering the property the night before and sleeping on outdoor furniture underneath the residence until construction workers woke him the following morning. The man reportedly told officers that he was tired, believed the property was a construction site, and simply wanted somewhere to sleep.
