After being located in a wooded area, the suspect was taken into custody and hit with a long list of charges, including theft by taking possession of methamphetamine, fleeing and eluding, and multiple traffic violations tied to the pursuit. On March 18th, 2021, a 15-year-old boy in Houston took his mother's vehicle without permission and ended up leading police through rush hour traffic. The situation became even more concerning with another teen riding along. >> Yeah, and with the winds, I tell you, it's a little bit hard keeping up with the driver. Again, we don't know if it's a male or female. Uh the pursuit started on the 610 North Loop near 45, the North Freeway. We are on the North Freeway right now heading outbound uh just past Airline. So, if you're in the Greens Point area, uh coming up on Kingwood or any Econo, just be aware of that that this driver right now is headed out that way just past airline and uh the speeds have been in excess of 80 miles per hour. So, very fast. And we just had the second police helicopter get up airborne with us. So, we have uh HPD as well as DPS up here trying to uh bring this driver uh to a stop and in custody hopefully uh with no uh accidents. And you just saw a officer on the uh the emergency lane trying to get as far ahead of this person as as possible potentially to deploy spike strips. Typically they do that sort of thing. But um you we just saw that officer >> and going very fast. >> Yeah. Yeah. And probably to alert other drivers that something's going on because I mean think about it. You are you are headed to wherever you're going. And thank you Tammy for giving us those locations because sometimes it's hard to know exactly where you are. Greensport, you're headed to the Woodlands. or wherever you're headed, you have no idea what's behind you. So, I I can only imagine that these officers are trying to alert those ahead of them that there's an issue. Uh maybe pull over and you can see some of uh uh some of the traffic slowing here. So, we're watching this one very closely on how they will handle this. Uh this driver, we don't know if it's a male or a female. We don't know why this chase started. It it started around just a little after seven o'clock. At least that's when we picked it up. uh 610, the North Loop at the North Freeway. And we are now uh almost 30 minutes uh into this police chase. Again, with very little information on the suspect and why this suspect is is is doing this. Uh but we have had a lot of near misses. We are watching this very closely. And Tammy saying speeds of up to 80 miles hour. That is a dangerous situation, >> right? Especially, you know, during rush hour when when you have to be on the brakes and you have to go slow. And here's this person going very very fast. Right. That that red vehicle. >> I'm not sure. We we watched this red car on the the feeder road too. Uh going quite fast. I'm not sure. >> Looks like he's trying to stop the guy. >> Yes, it does. That red car was actually >> trying to bring this to a close. And you maybe see the officer with the spike strips potentially. There go the strips. Couldn't get it because of the red car, but uh the driver managed to get onto the feeder road very quickly. >> Wonder if the red car is a part of the police or maybe undercover officer. >> I mean, potentially maybe. Maybe it just looked like that officer just didn't get a good chance to the gap between that vehicle and the red vehicle that was in front of him was just so small. I don't know that he was able to deploy them if here we're just just waiting to see what how this is going to time desk. >> They almost have him boxed in at this point. Uh we don't know if there's an officer in front of him that would might be able to see. >> Okay. Yeah. So OnStar, we're getting information from our desk that OnStar is getting ready to stop the vehicle. So, our desk uh doing a fabulous job this morning on getting information for us. Uh they're getting ready to stop that vehicle again with OnStar and just got off on the feeder road at Richie. So, that is why the vehicle is slowing down. >> And that officer there trying to get ahead of him possibly to either deploy spike strips or to stop other traffic. But if OnStar is going to be deployed, that potentially tells us that the the vehicle may be stolen. uh might not be but >> when vehicles are stolen and they have >> with the technology what they can do. So that's why it's coming at a stop. So still a dangerous situation because they're not stopping on their own. Uh now police are going to be getting out here probably guns drawn. Hopefully this will end peacefully, but you just never know. >> The person has not opened their door and police obviously are out of their vehicle at this point. Again, this is just north of Richie Road near Rankin, northbound Feeder Road, I45. This is a chase that started about 30 minutes ago, has finally come to a stop. >> I don't know if Tammy can zoom in. We we we hesitate to zoom in a little bit just because, you know, sometimes things can get out of control very quickly at the end of these chase, but this person's hands are up. >> Backing up, following the officer's commands. They'll probably tell him to get on the ground here very soon as he clears the back of that car. Clearly following officer's commands as that kind of puts things at ease a little bit. Continuing to back up closer and closer to the officers on his knees now. They'll probably tell him to lay flight face down. Oh, they grabbed me by his hands. Okay, this is over now. >> Yeah. Well, of course, the next step is they want to >> passenger now coming out inside the vehicle. >> Hopefully, they too will just continue to follow officers instructions and this will end peacefully and clearly following what officers are telling them to do. Again, this chase started shortly after 7 o'clock this morning and really went all through downtown, down 45, around I 10, back up 45, and now here we are near Ranken Road. And the second suspect, >> both teens were safely taken into custody once the vehicle was disabled with the driver facing charges for evading police while the passenger was charged with criminal trespass of a vehicle. Authorities confirmed no injuries came from the incident. November 30th, 2024 deputies spotted a vehicle tied to a man wanted for family violence battery and prepared to initiate a stop. For a brief moment, it looked like the driver might comply before everything changed. Go ahead 6 radio traffic vehicles taking off 75 south down toward road. Lean up against here. 1. >> The suspect, Lavario Holder, was eventually taken into custody and transported to jail where he now faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, and fleeing and eluding. His passenger, Philip Williams, was also detained and later described the ordeal as terrifying. On June 6th, 2023, officers attempted a welfare check on a woman driving in Southern California, but she refused to stop. Even as her vehicle began falling apart, she continued moving forward. And we can anticipate another spike strip here in just a little bit. We'll keep an eye out for that coming up uh in the next half mile or so. There's the spike. And it looks like a pretty successful spike. Pretty much uh nailed it. We'll see if those tires react and start to lose air, but she went right over them, I believe, with all four tires squarely over that uh textbook spike uh spike toss. And uh you saw her try to evade. It was already too late. She tried to switch over to that number two lane. Uh but it looked like a pretty good spike. So, we'll see. It almost looks like she's already slowing down. And it looks like both uh both of the front tires, the right and left tires on the front end are gradually losing air. That driver side tire almost completely flat. And you can see that right passenger side tire uh going flat as well. again uh as she's basically driven over two spike strips. That last one clearly was effective. Was able to inject a This all started as a welfare check down in Orange County. CHP Orange County uh division actually San Juan Capistrono officers trying to uh check on her when she fled and the pursuit began northbound on the five freeway and she has refused to pull over ever since. She was holding steady straight up the five at the tail end of rush hour making her way into LA County with very light traffic all the way up through uh downtown LA and now into the San Fernando Valley where this pursuit's been going on for more than an hour. And now a slow speed chase continuing up the five freeway with almost all four tires impacted by several spike strip attempts uh tearing apart that driver's side tire completely. That front left tire is gone. So, that's one rim. And then, uh, the front right tire is flat as well. And here comes the pit attempt just barely fast enough as that CHP unit pulls right up along her right rear, attempting to fishtail the vehicle and uh, spin it around. So, there's the pit. And now you can see that that rim just spinning and grinding straight into the pavement. of the five freeway here. And now the vehicle coming to a complete stop. This pursuit has halted here in Silar, northbound side of the five freeway. California Highway Patrol moving out of the way, getting rid of uh any crossfire risk here. And you can see uh six units uh now able to make that arrest in the next few seconds here. They will instruct her to exit the vehicle. We'll see if she cooperates at all. Uh uh officers have fired something in the back seat there as an arrest team now approaches the vehicle with a shield. Look at them approaching that back seat. Approaching the back seat towards the driver trying to get a view from the rear. And we'll get a better idea if there is anybody in the back seat here. They've now shattered that rear window. And we'll push all the way in there. Josh, let's push all the way in if we can and see if we can. As they do this, they clear those windows and you can see if there's anybody uh or anything of interest in the rear back seats. Fair check. And other than that, uh, we don't have any information regarding any crimes that have been committed other than the fact that she has led the California Highway Patrol on a 50-mi chase or more up the five freeway from Orange County into the San Frernando Valley. We find ourselves in Zilar on the northbound side of the five freeway. She was eventually taken into custody after being removed from the vehicle and later evaluated by medical personnel. Authorities treated the case as a combination of evasion and concerns over her mental condition at the time. October 1st, 2025, a 19-year-old driver was spotted speeding along the shoulder of Interstate 95 in Miami Dade County. Instead of pulling over, he pushed deeper into traffic and construction zones.
