Three occupants were detained after the Buick stopped, but the driver immediately fled on foot and remained the focus of the search. Carly McCree, Morris Worsham, and Marlon Marbley were identified as the passengers. Possible charges could include fleeing from law enforcement, aggravated robbery, and offenses connected to the shooting investigation with more charges depending on the driver's eventual arrest and the underlying case. November 8th, 2024 saw Florida Highway Patrol respond to a large street takeover in Tampa involving cars and pedestrians performing burnouts, donuts, and drifting. When a black Dodge Charger fled from the takeover scene, troopers attempted to stop the driver later identified as Michael Nunez. General driver side right now. Nunez and passenger Dennis Cesar Lozano Gonzalez were taken to the Hillsboro County Jail, while Ruben Aloyo was released after investigators determined he did not knowingly participate. Nunez was charged with unlawful racing on a highway while engaged in a coordinated street takeover and aggravated fleeing to elude. Lozano Gonzalez also faced charges related to the marijuana and firearm found in the vehicle and more. August 1st, 2021 began with a Georgia State Patrol license plate alert involving a black Jeep whose registration did not match the vehicle when Corporal R. Young Bloodood attempted to stop the Jeep. The driver, later identified as Derek Alexander, decided that the registration problem was apparently worth turning the city streets into his escape route. Hold it. >> All right. Authorities discovered the Jeep had been reported stolen in Atlanta and Alexander also had an outstanding warrant. He was therefore facing charges related to fleeing the stolen vehicle and the outstanding warrant among other offenses. On August 4th, 2026, Jacksonville police were pursuing a silver Chevrolet Equinox for traffic violations after the driver reached speeds above 100 mph on Interstate 57. Arkansas State Trooper Dustin Medford joined the pursuit as the driver, later identified as Antoine Pennington, repeatedly tried to avoid being stopped. Coming >> across the ground. Back out on Valerie headed toward is I'm driving with you. ADR [screaming] >> Pennington was taken into custody after the vehicle was disabled and he attempted to escape on foot. Officers found two loaded handguns on him despite his status as a convicted felon. He was charged with felony fleeing possession of firearms by certain persons, identity fraud, cruelty to animals, and battery along with improper tag display, no insurance license violations, reckless driving, and registration offenses. June 5th, 2026 saw a stolen white pickup truck become the target of a pursuit after it was reported taken from China Cook in Fontana. The alleged carjacking suspect refused to give up the truck, sending Fontana police and later California Highway Patrol units into a chase that stretched across multiple freeways and cities. >> Well, and as we are watching this, we have the video of a moment ago where you could see CHP officers throw the spike strip out. He was going through this intersection and right off to the upper right you see and the suspect saw it. Um, so we had made illusions to the fact that this person seemed to be possibly under the influence. However, that particular awareness on this person when they were able to be able to steer around that signifies to me that maybe this person is fine. They're just agitated. Um, who knows what's going on with the way they're putting their hands out and and waving at at now not only officers and traffic, but also we saw them waving at people that were at an intersection and a couple of people have actually, you know, looked at them, waved at this person, which sometimes there's a a moment of internet celebrity when somebody like this is driving around. People, you know, generally will go out and wave. Not a smart move in this the way this guy's been driving, but it does happen. Um, but Bruce, I'm I'm kind of keep trying to take a peek at some of these wheels and I I don't see any damage. So, I don't think that he was ever hit at all with the spike strip. And unfortunately, those those wheels look like, you know, they're they're rugged. Even if they did get a spike strip out there, doesn't necessarily mean it'll do uh significant damage right away, unless there was a direct hit of some sort. That that would be ideal. Yeah, they're they're more heavy duty tires, more uh truck tires, if you will. So, for a spike strip to be deployed and be successful, it's going to c going to take some time for that tire or tires to deflate. >> Okay, so now we're back in Boil Heights. If you look at the map there, and you can see that the suspect is continuing. The good news in that circumstance as in many of the others that we have seen um the the innocents who are near this person uh have p either are aware or hear it or something and they have yielded the right away um in many cases and and that's what you want right Bruce I mean you just we don't want anybody trying to block him in box him in you just yield and get out of the way >> you know you're 100% correct yield get out of the way stop don't become part of the problem even though we have seen in other pursuits in years past, big rigs blocking in a suspect vehicle and they were unable to get away. Now, does that help law enforcement? Is it something we encourage? Definitely not. >> Well, we've also seen measures of road rage from people who might be bumped by uh this person or hindered by this person. In some cases, I I we've seen just regular vehicles try to stop this person because far as they know, they've been in an accident and the [clears throat] person's trying to get away from them. So, you know, just always be aware with that many police officers right behind this. You know, just don't be involved. Uh don't be involved. So, clearly that puts the the people who accidentally get stuck in a in a standoff at risk. But do officers try to get them out of their vehicles if that is the case? Do they quickly, you know, address the the people stuck in that or or do they just keep the people or try to keep them in their vehicles? >> Well, you know, it's a two-prong question. Uh you want to never have innocent civilians involved in a deadly force type incident. >> That was We've lost you. There we go. Bruce, we heard the we heard the first part was that you don't want people involved in a >> but we didn't hear the second part. >> Yeah, you don't want people involved in a lethal um operational area like that. However, the second part is keep them in the vehicles, let them hunker down and you focus just on the suspect. >> Okay. Now, we see another situation where that person turning uh just turned into a bunch of CHP officers. So, they knew something was up immediately got off to the right shoulder. Um, but now here we may have a pit maneuver coming as he's moved up quickly. And there we go. That's our first attempt to try to get this guy down and they did quickly pitted him. Uh, and now he's trying to back up and officers are engaged on that driver's side door and he is boxed in in this moment. Let's just see what happens. He might back up and he does. So he has put it in reverse and he's backed up away from the officers. Don't know how much damage was done to the vehicle. Now he's moving forward again. So officers for the first time have tried to end this pursuit. They put it a pit maneuver in there. It was a very good pit maneuver, but then there was just no way to disable the vehicle. Bruce. >> Yeah. Um, you know, I think they've now asked to be a little more aggressive and been given permission by the watch commander or the field supervisor in the pursuit to be aggressive. Let's do a fit maneuver if the circumstances warranted. And in this case, they were given permission and they did it >> to the uh the owner of the vehicle. I'm not sure if they gave us that information. Uh but again, whether this is a diesel or regular gas pickup truck, he could be on borrowed time. That might be why he's looking for a place to either give up or potentially foot bail from the vehicle. But he's certainly now crawling about 30 mph down right road just off of MLK just north of the 105 freeway and just to the west of the 710 freeway in a very heavily industrial area. You can see him now uh deciding to stop for this particular stop sign. He has been far from a model driver by any means uh but choosing this stop sign to uh pause at. And now you see uh a full contingent of CHP cruisers ready to execute a felony stop if he decides that this is the time to give it up. >> Well, and and as we look at this, I mean, this is a, you know, he is now in a completely different place than he's been all the time because there are a lot less in the way of traffic to bother uh CHP and whatever they want to do. Um, so as you mentioned, he if it wanted to keep going, he would have been better served staying on the freeway. But now underneath the freeway, but if you notice wider streets, nothing in the way of cars, this could be a situation where if he starts to pick up speed at all, they might try might try a pit maneuver. But he is we do know that this this particular vehicle has a 34gallon tank. Um, again, as you mentioned, we don't know if the driver had a full tank when he took off from Fontana. Um, but clearly he had enough fuel to drive around at this point. So, this is, if Bruce is still with us, Bruce, this starts to look like an area that you mentioned, operational opportunity, an area like this. >> Look at that guy. You saw that? Did you see that, Philip? Hold on real quick. You saw a CHP unit pull over. A little left pedal here, Dan. Left pedal. We'll get get that CHP cruiser that just pulled off. Very good likelihood he may be getting ready to set up on the other side for a spike strip attempt. But look at this. The pickup truck coming to a full stop here. There are empty parking spots on both sides of the street here. He pulled over briefly and is now continu left pedal. Left pedal in left pedal. Pursuits out my left window right over here. He's going to continue down the road here. There's a CH cruiser at the end of that road and he may set up for the spike strip. Here he goes going to the back of the SUV. Going to grab the spike strip and he will have seconds to lay down that spike strip. Another CHP cruiser at the top lefthand corner of your screen. He's going to block the road here. Really limiting the options. Here comes the spike attempt. He's going to drive around it. It looks like he's going to pull back that spike strip. He looks like he's gearing for a right turn, but he has he's he's going to see the blockage any second here. He's face to face with CHP. Now they're blocking him in. Look at this situation, Philip. very aggressive set of tactics could turn out to be very very useful here as they now have him cornered from front and back. The spike strip now taken out of play here as that front that guy on the front end that that that patrol officer on the front end of that uh pickup truck is now bumperto- bumper with the suspect. Officers getting out of harm's wagon to prevent any chance of crossfire here. They've got their guns drawn. You've got three CHP cruisers behind him, one in front of him. He's got little space to play with here unless he gets really desperate. It looks like we're finally going to see HP patrolman communicating, sending him signals to get out of the vehicle. And it looks like he is finally ready to bring this pursuit to a peaceful end. And boy, he couldn't do it a second too soon. Looks like he might try and run. Here comes the K9 taking the suspect down in the middle of right road at Fertile Street. CHP bringing this pursuit pursuit to a peaceful end with the use of that K-9 officer. >> Well, Chris, we also saw one car just maybe not even knowing what they were wanting to do, but they were almost in the line of activity here and they had to wave. One of the CHP officers was aggressively waving them to get them out of the way because this guy is so unpredictable. Uh but now they've cleared the truck and you can see that the dog is still engaged with the suspect who by the way was not doing what he was supposed to do. He got out and was casually kind of jogging away. You've got CHP trying to crowd control there. >> Jog away. >> One more time. >> Almost looked like he wanted to try and jog away. He didn't appear to be perfectly He didn't appear to be in perfect physical shape. And we don't know what the situation is, whether he's uh, you know, under the influence or what his physical condition was, but it looked like a very weak attempt to start to jog away from his vehicle and that's when they uh released the K-9 thankfully uh bringing this guy down without any incident here. Look at that tail still wag >> to stop. So it does look as if the suspect is now uh safely in custody. um the the the the the K-9 unit doing yman's work there to to get that suspect on the ground. Um but but Chris, we we he really had nowhere to go once he got into this residential area. You mentioned it the way CHP was able to quickly aggressively get around in front of him uh and started to almost corral him into an area where they were able to to pin this vehicle. The pursuit ended in Lynwood when the driver was taken into custody after leaving the pickup and attempting to jog away. A police dog was used to make the arrest and the suspect was later placed in an ambulance. The driver was facing consequences related to the alleged carjacking and stolen vehicle fleeing from police, reckless driving, and other offenses arising from the pursuit. December 20th, 2024, Florida Highway Patrol attempted to stop a dark gray Ford Mustang after seeing it traveling in the wrong lane on State Road 79 in Washington County. Instead of pulling over, the driver accelerated and turned a routine traffic stop into a dangerous pursuit. >> [music] >> Turn it into a cemetery. Your radio's cut now. You back northbound. The driver identified as Alex Daniel was eventually arrested after abandoning the Mustang and attempting to escape into a wooded area. Records cited in the case list charges including introducing contraband into a state correctional facility and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription along with additional offenses connected to the incident. On April 4th, 2022, New Mexico State Police began pursuing a driver who was traveling the wrong way and refusing to stop on a busy roadway. Authorities also documented the vehicle and its condition following the pursuit. Possible charges include fleeing and eluding reckless driving, driving under the influence and operating in the wrong direction with additional charges possible from the incident. November 18th, 2022, [music] Florida Highway Patrol attempted to stop a dark SUV in St. Augustine during a routine traffic enforcement encounter.
