On February 13th, 2023, Little Rock police alerted Arkansas State Police after reports that shots had been fired from a Chevrolet Malibu. Investigators confirmed that Deputy Hammond had known Gates from previous contacts, and officials stated Gates never accepted the mental health services previously offered to him. On January 11th, 2026, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a speeding vehicle after clocking it at more than 100 miles per hour on State Road 82. On August 23rd, 2024, an officer spotted two motorcycles and a Dodge Charger racing away from a traffic light before noticing one motorcycle had no license plate and a defective headlight. After receiving treatment for a minor shoulder injury at Mercy Hospital, Curtis Collins was transported to the Washington County Detention Center. He was charged with felony fleeing, driving on a revoked license, and reckless driving along with several additional traffic related offenses. On May 10th, 2026, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper clocked a vehicle traveling 103 mph on Interstate 75 before attempting a traffic stop. Rather than pulling over, the driver accelerated away and turned a speeding violation into a much more serious case. While passenger Enshaika Shelton was released at the scene, Gunner was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center on charges including felony fleeing possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Saturday, March 29th, 2025 started with an allegedly stolen flatbed truck being driven away from an auto body shop in South Los Angeles. It quickly became clear the driver had no intention of slowing down as reports of reckless driving began pouring in. Well, we were told that it was flat. It looks like it's a little wobbly there, but it's a DY and it looks to be behaving okay for the most part. So, uh we were told that there might be a flat tire there and it sure appears that there is some damage, but it doesn't really appear. Look at this. Oncoming lanes of traffic over the medium almost ahead on collision. Another wild move here. just jumping over that medium without any regard here. Squeezing through both lanes of traffic. This is getting crazy and LAPD is going to have a serious decision to make here in very short order if this continues. This pursuit just took on a whole different profile when you start seeing that kind of desperation behind the wheel here. He is in very very real danger of getting somebody hurt, very seriously hurt. Uh he is now traveling southbound on Washington Boulevard. Somebody crossing the street here now going the wrong way. Light traffic here, but it just takes one wrong move and he is going to hurt somebody. Look at this. Let's look up ahead here. Traffic coming right in his direction. Everybody swerving to their right. He is traveling on the inside lane right over that median and he's coming up ON CROSS DRIVE. THERE COMES A COLLISION. Just made contact with cross traffic there and continuing right through Chatfield Avenue. Southbound Washington Boulevard. A runaway driver here traveling at a very fast clip and traveling very recklessly through the streets of Whittier now as LAPD is pulling back a little bit. When we get a chance, we'll see just how far back they had to pull back because they were unable to keep up with him through some of those maneuvers. But the airship still overhead following this pursuit as he continues to jump over this median, comes up on a red light and once again back on the wrong side of the road. It sure is. Uh right here. In fact, it's going to end right here. And as I look off the nose here, we are back on city streets where traffic is going to start to start to increase. Volume is increasing already as he approaches a red light. And now we're going to start, look at this. He's going to start losing control of the vehicle. A little bit of fishtailing as he tried to navigate this little traffic jam here at a red light over the median. Now going the wrong way once again. going the wrong way on Surface Street once again around all of that traffic swerving all the way to the right shoulder here and he's really having trouble uh dealing with this vehicle now if he continues at these speeds. Just hit the wall. Hitting the wall, crashing into other vehicles. He made contact there with a work truck, a box truck. It looked like he touched it and is already starting to lose part of that flatbread. Look at this. Over the curb, over the median and just I mean this for one. Look at this. Crashing into vehicles. One, two, three innocent motorists just dragging them along through the intersection at Bellflower Boulevard, passing through Bellflower on Seventh Street, going the wrong way again. He has no regard for any of this oncoming traffic, trying to get around and crashing into everybody and everything in his way. >> Still not slowing down. Lost his tire, Colleen. He's just lost that front left tire. He's now running on the rim here. Heavy damage on that front of that vehicle with very, very heavy damage on the front end of that vehicle. And is that tire is pretty much gone. So, at least the front left tire. Oh, no. It's not only is it not GOING TO HOLD, LOOK AT THIS. HE'S SQUEEZING through everybody coming in his direction. They're all swerving on either side of him. He's going to head get he's going to get into another head-on collision here. There it is. Head-on collision into an SUV. We are seeing dozens of vehicles damaged in this pursuit. And that was probably one of the most serious right there. Just ran right into the front of that SUV. CHP has given this up. They have now created distance. They are now putting this back in tracking mode for the time being. They have pulled back and you can see he is still straddling the double yellow lines crashing into another vehicle. That flatbed is made of steel that is just doing tremendous damage with very little damage to the vehicle other than the front end damage that we're already seeing there. But what we were saying, Mark, is that front left OH NO, THERE IT IS. THERE IT IS. Two vehicles into cross traffic. A major collision into the front of a paint store at the strip mall at 7th Street and Terminal Avenue, ramming right through those two vehicles. The driver stepping out of the vehicle and now walking away from the crash scene. That driver now walking away from the crash scene. Two major crashes there and now he's walking up the sidewalk. CHP is close by. The sheriff's department is close by. Long Beach police are likely on their way over here and hopefully somebody will be able to get this person off of the sidewalk or right now there are numerous casualties here. Look at the condition of that vehicle. We're going to try and keep an eye on the suspect and also those vehicles as well. We're going to stick with the driver here as he walks up the block here around the strip mall off of Seventh Street onto Myar Avenue. We know that law enforcement is watching our feed right now. how he wanted to stick with the driver as he continues the stroll away from the crash scene. It ended about as badly as we This is Miramar Avenue off of 7th Street in East Long Beach. And he's There he is. There's I think that's going to be Long Beach police. Maybe not. No, it's LAPD. LAPD. LAPD taking the suspect down. We're going to come around. Let's come around the tree. Let's come around the tree. And looks like LAPD has taken this suspect down to the ground on the sidewalk there at Myiramar Avenue just off of Seventh Street. Numerous officers as we come around this tree now taking that suspect into custody. The suspect was eventually arrested after walking away from the wrecked truck, while an injured police officer and the driver of a struck SUV were both transported to the hospital for treatment. Investigators also confirmed the truck's owner was able to track the stolen vehicle because his phone had been left inside. March 4th, 2023. A routine traffic stop over a missing license plate appeared to be heading toward a simple citation. That changed the moment Curtis Hicks restarted his motorcycle after being asked to step off. >> Yeah, I can't help you do that. >> You don't have anything legal on you? >> No, sir. Although the original pursuit was called off because of the danger to other motorists, Hicks was later located and arrested by deputies in Calhoun County before being turned over to Arkansas State Police. He was charged with felony fleeing by vehicle reckless driving and operating a motorcycle without the required endorsement along with several additional traffic violations. Tuesday, October 28th, 2025 officers with Cleveland police gathered for a final briefing before serving a court approved search warrant in neighboring Pawne County. Have a good night. Rather than serving the warrant, officers canled the operation as tensions between the agencies escalated over communication and jurisdiction. Cleveland police later ended its cross deputation agreement with the Pawne County Sheriff's Office while the district attorney determined no criminal conduct had occurred. On December 6th, 2022, an Arkansas State Police trooper spotted a pickup truck speeding and making dangerous passing maneuvers near Paris, Arkansas. Investigators later learned Farnum also had outstanding warrants and a suspended driver's license, adding even more charges to the case. On April 8th, 2023, Arkansas State Police were already investigating a separate crash when another pickup truck unexpectedly stopped in the middle of Interstate 530. The driver, David Stanley, soon drew attention by walking through the active crash scene while showing signs of possible impairment. I would like to kill me. >> Stanley was later booked into the Palaski County Regional Detention Facility after refusing medical treatment and threatening hospital staff during attempts to carry out a court authorized blood draw. He was charged with felony fleeing driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest along with numerous additional offenses connected to the incident. On August 16th, 2025, Monroe County deputies began receiving reports of a woman behaving erratically after striking a vehicle with her hand before driving away in a silver Lexus. As more calls came in describing increasingly dangerous driving, deputies moved quickly to intercept the SUV before someone got hurt. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. car now. Open the door. She was charged with driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement with wanting disregard for safety and dangerous excessive speeding along with several additional traffic offenses. Monday, July 7th, 2025, Arkansas State Police received a bulletin about an armed Navy service member who had gone absent without leave and was believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis. Investigators also learned he had allegedly threatened to force officers into a deadly confrontation if they caught up with him. >> He is armed and had made comments to suicide by cop. Instead of carrying out those threats, the driver surrendered peacefully after the pursuit and was transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation where he voluntarily agreed to receive treatment. Troopers also recovered a loaded handgun from the truck before releasing the vehicle for towing and placing the firearm into evidence for safekeeping. February 15th, 2023, a driver decided that a speeding ticket was worth trying to outrun Arkansas State Police. That decision quickly escalated into a pursuit that ended much sooner than he probably expected. Okay. Heat. Once the chase was over, the driver admitted he simply did not want to stop because he was speeding and hoped he could get away. He was taken into custody and transported to the sheriff's office where investigators continued processing the case following his arrest. Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, law enforcement agencies across the Atlanta area began searching for a Dodge Durango connected to a homicide investigation. When officers finally located the vehicle, the driver immediately chose to flee instead of surrendering. Bring big. Northbound on Johnsburg Road approaching Browns Mill Road. Let me come by. >> After the crash, officers discovered the suspect had passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the vehicle before they could take him into custody. Investigators secured the scene and continued processing the homicide investigation, bringing the search for the suspect to an end.
