On November 24th, 2025 Connecticut State Trooper Wilfried Blanchett spotted a silver 2006 Honda Accord speeding with license plates that did not belong to the car. The suspicious combination of mismatched plates, suspected impairment, and driver Jesus Santiago's refusal to stop quickly turned an ordinary patrol into a much bigger problem. Reic briefly resisted before being taken into custody with help from a police dog, while both declined medical treatment at the scene. The pair later faced multiple motor vehicle and narcotics related charges, bringing an expensive drive to a far less enjoyable finish. Monday, February 16th, 2026, deputies in Thirstston County clocked a driver racing down Rich Road at 96 mph in a 35 mph zone. Instead of accepting an obvious speeding ticket, the driver headed toward a known drug property and guaranteed the afternoon would become far more complicated. August 26th, 2021, Florida Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop a vehicle along Interstate 75 in Broward County. July 17th, 2024, Arkansas State Police received alarming reports of a driver allegedly waving a handgun from a speeding sport utility vehicle along Interstate 40. Sergeant Nicholas K. She was later booked into the Falner County Detention Center on charges including fleeing while exceeding the speed limit, reckless driving, and failure to provide proof of insurance. December 7th, 2020, Ohio State Highway Patrol discovered a stolen Kia Sedona racing down Interstate 75 at more than 115 mph. Instead of surrendering, 26-year-old Zachary Bernett kept pushing forward until busy local roads became part of the equation. Bernett was taken to the hospital with minor injuries before being arrested upon his release and booked into the Wood County Justice Center. He was charged with fleeing aggravated vehicular assault and receiving stolen property, while two other drivers who were hurt in the collision also received medical treatment. During the daytime, a Michigan State Police trooper attempted to stop a recreational vehicle after it ran a red light near Howard City. Investigators later learned the driver had allegedly stolen multiple televisions from a Walmart earlier that day, making the refusal to stop far more than a simple traffic violation. >> Think come all the way probably from Elmont 46 driving passing on the shoulder. She was sentenced to 4 to 10 years in prison after pleading no contest to thirdderee fleeing a police officer assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of police property. November 4th, 2025 deputies attempted to stop a maroon pickup truck after spotting reckless driving at speeds approaching 100 mph. The driver refused to cooperate and investigators would soon discover there was far more inside the truck than a reason to avoid a speeding citation. >> Notified Johnny. >> He just ran a light at River and 41 continuing into West Villages. car to Mackie as soon as you're able to pet him. >> Traffic's light. Corpus was accused of offenses including felony fleeing and eluding possession of a firearm by a convicted felon driving under the influence driving with a suspended license [music] and refusing to submit to a breath test. March 25th, 2023 officers attempted to stop an alleged theft suspect before the driver lost control and overturned down an interstate embankment. All right. >> Call out. Emergency crews focused on safely removing everyone from the wreckage before continuing the criminal investigation surrounding the incident. The driver was taken into custody while the children were rescued from the damaged vehicle and received immediate attention from first responders. March 17th, 2023, North Little Rock officers attempted to stop a suspected stolen Nissan Alultima before the driver accelerated away through city streets. The pursuit eventually headed toward Baptist Hospital where the growing traffic and pedestrian activity dramatically raised the stakes. >> There's a bunch of people here. >> Pull up. Okay. Police successfully brought the pursuit to a controlled conclusion near the hospital, allowing officers to take the suspect into custody without further escalation. No injuries were reported following the arrest and the investigation into the suspected stolen vehicle continued after the scene was secured. February 18th, 2026, officers began searching for the driver of a sedan believed to be connected to a shooting in South Los Angeles. Rather than stopping to answer questions, the suspect steered through city streets and parking lots in an effort to stay ahead of police. >> Out uh they would definitely stop and want to scoop this person up to gain information, to gain knowledge of the person driving, why they're driving, are they armed, was there a shooting? so that they can have as much tactical information as they can get. >> And aside from a pit maneuver or a spike strip, what other strategies might law enforcement be considering at this point? >> You know, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Those are the two primary things uh that law enforcement can do. We don't tactically box them in or try to create blockades or barricades so that they can't continue the pursuit. So you basically have a spike strip and a pit maneuver. >> All right, we just saw him go the wrong way down a street for about 100 feet or so and then he put this pursuit. That seems to be his personality. He goes slow then quickly and he seems to love those parking lots, Bruce. >> Yeah. You know, by going through a park out like that, you're hoping to, for lack of better word, ditch the police that are following you because people are backing out, going the wrong way. They're narrow. Different things are happening. So maybe the police can't follow them. It's just another tactic that the bad guys have thought, well, maybe I can try this. >> Right. >> And for motorists on the road who find themselves in the middle of of a pursuit. Uh what is your best advice to them? >> Don't get involved. We've seen numerous pursuits where people stop, throw things at the suspect, try to block the suspect in. Let law enforcement do their job. If you, you know, you're involved in a pursuit and it's coming toward you, pull safely to the right of the road. If you can't do that, stop your vehicle. It will go around you. But we implore people not to get involved >> like that that you can see the LAPD close behind him. Uh I don't know, Bruce. I I haven't seen any specific patterns yet. I don't know if he's just driving until he can figure something out or if he's got a plan here. >> Yeah. Uh in this case, David, I have not seen a pattern. And we've been watching now for 15 20 minutes. He just seems to be going round and round in parking lots like you said earlier and out of parking lots. Uh whether he's looking for somebody's house that he can stop um you know a friendly type thing, but there's definitely been no pattern. >> Yeah. >> And just to recap, this pursuit started in the 3:00 hour. Uh several law enforcement uh patrol cars chasing this uh shooting suspect uh in this Ford Fusion. Uh he's been primarily staying in the South LA area and you can see some folks there on the sidewalk uh acknowledging maybe were they waving to to the vehicle. David >> uh they they were waving at him. All of their phones were up and they're taking video and waving at him and now he's approaching what we think is a a dead end. But he's going down what appears to be an alley. But that's what we were talking about earlier. These pockets of people who are watching this pursuit and then they run out there. Oh, he has stopped. I think he is at a dead end. The doors are quickly open and they're giving him instructions. You see, they're right on him. I don't see a lot of cooperation. The door is partially open. I don't know if there's communication going on or if he is just sitting there trying to figure out what he's going to do. Obviously, Bruce, very tense situation right now knowing that this could be an armed suspect. >> Yeah, very much so. Um, you know, you do have an armed suspect in the vehicle. Uh it looked like some of the footage looked like it was a single person in that vehicle, but you don't know until you actually clear the vehicle who or what is in that vehicle, but you have an armed suspect. So in this case, everything is is up on them sort of, >> right? >> Yeah. At at this point, the driver appears to be wanting to cooperate. He is stepping out of the vehicle or is about to with his both hands up and visible for law enforcement. >> Yeah, his hands are largely out. He is looking directly at them. He is communicating with them, but he's not necessarily doing exactly what he's they're telling him, but he is at least he's standing. >> He just dropped something. >> Yeah, it looks like there is some communication. It is. Oh, I I can't see what he dropped because he's basically standing right at it. It's at his feet in front of him. So, he's obstructing our view. The good news is he is standing up with his hands up. Hopefully, that is not a gun on the ground. And if it is, it poses some complications for I imagine police officers. But something has fallen. It's something dark that has fallen at his feet right in front of him as his back is to the officers. What do you do in that situation? Oh, well, let me let me continue to walk you through. Uh, Bruce, he is stepping away from that dark object. He is cooperating. He's stepping largely away from the vehicle. Uh, so and we're obstructed a little bit by a wall, Bruce, but it looks like he's cooperating. Yeah, and that's what we want. We they're giving him verbal commands. Step out of the vehicle. Keep your hands up. Maybe walk back to us or step away from the vehicle. Uh get on your knees. Put your hands out of your sides. Then, you know, they'll tactically move in and handcuff him. And then if there's a second person, they'll do the exact same thing, a mirror image of what they just did. >> Right. That's a good point. He is now uh flat on the ground. His hands are out. He's on his stomach. His head is turned away from officers. I guess now they're going to check the vehicle as they are slowly approaching it in a a sort of a stack and starting to look inside the vehicle. As I said before, it is a tented vehicle. It's tough to see inside the windows, but they're right on top of it now. And you can see they're slowly searching the back seat, moving up to the passenger side. They're looking inside the vehicle. It seems to be clear. Uh they haven't given the clear sign yet, but the by their physicality it doesn't look like there's a threat. >> The pursuit finally ended in an alley in Englewood where the driver surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. Investigators continued examining the suspected shooting while authorities also reviewed the driver's alleged traffic violations committed throughout the pursuit. December 8th, 2025, an Arkansas State Police trooper spotted a reckless driver traveling at an extremely high speed along the highway. Instead of slowing down, the driver continued fleeing, leaving troopers with little choice but to bring the pursuit to a close. Explain why I'm doing 637. Southbound. TBI. TBI. Following complaints of leg and wrist pain, investigators continued documenting the incident while the suspect faced the consequences of allegedly fleeing from law enforcement and reckless driving. April 25th, 2025, Arkansas State Police and North Little Rock police officers attempted to stop a heavy duty truck after the driver refused to pull over. The investigation continued into the driver's actions during the pursuit, including allegations of fleeing and striking a patrol vehicle. July 25th, 2022, Arkansas State Police attempted to stop a lifted GMC Sierra after the driver refused to yield.
