I'm Detective Robert Dart with the San Antonio Police Department. This critical incident video release is intended to provide you with information as the department currently understands it about an officer involved shooting that occurred on August 29th, 2025 at the 800 block of North Cherry. I will walk you through the video relevant to the facts of the incident as we know them so far. Contents of this video may not be suitable for all audiences. Viewer discretion is advised. This is audio from 911 callers who reported the suspect shooting a shotgun and pointing the gun at people in the area. This is Angela. How can I help you? There's a gentleman with like a rifle uh in like his front yard. He just like shot it straight up into the sky. I had a guy that's uh threatening to me over here around the skate park and he went into his house and pulled a like a gun out like a shotgun looking. Do you have a description? And he got on his front. He's like pointing it at people. He's pointed it at me when I drove by. Responding officers established a perimeter around the suspect's residence. Officers utilized the PA system to try to speak with the suspect. Gun. Can only see a little bit, bro. Come on out. Because of the tactical position of officers, officer's body worn cameras did not have a clear view of the suspect. This is video of the dash camera view. The suspect opened his side door and pointed a shotgun from the doorway at officers. Multiple officers fired their weapons at the suspect, striking him. No officers or bystanders were injured. Officers provided life-saving measures to the suspect at the scene before EMS arrival. The suspect, Jaime Gonzalez, 41, pronounced deceased at the scene. This is an image of the shotgun recovered at the scene. Investigations into deadly force are comprehensive and can take over a year. A reminder, this is our current understanding of the situation and could change as investigators gather more information. The San Antonio Police Department does not make any determination as to whether procedures were followed until all the facts are known. All officer involved shootings are forwarded to the Bexar County District Attorney's Office for review. As of this publication, the investigation remains ongoing.
