What grade are you in? >> Ninth. >> Ninth grade. >> It was about a shooting that took place at a gas station. You know what I'm talking about, right? >> No. >> You know, I've been doing this for a little bit of time, right? And you're not doing too good at covering that up. >> You are watching 15-year-old Estavan Luchero, a young teenager responsible for murdering an innocent mother in front of her own daughter only hours ago. And despite his attitude, >> I could call my mom if I want to. I don't want to give you my girlfriend. >> Estavon is only one of the four teenagers involved in this homicide. as detectives now race to [music] catch them all and expose what this murderous group of youngsters has done. >> These kids that you've been involved with, Diamond included, and the other boys, they could care less about you. >> All this stuff you have to know about. >> On March 25th, 2022, a family in Albuquerque, New Mexico, stopped at a gas station on their way to a wholesome outing at a local Topgolf. But moments after they parked their car at this Maverick station, their lives were changed forever. >> 911 emergency. >> Please come to the grocery. We've been shot. We were shot at a Maverick. The Maverick come. >> Police raced to the gas station where they found a devastating scene. Inside the vehicle, 28-year-old Kayla Anne Montano had been shot several times. Beside her, her best friend Sierra desperately tried to save her life with CPR. And in the driver's seat, Kayla's fiance tried to tend to his own rapidly bleeding wounds. The car was riddled with over 30 bullets. And inside was nothing but a family trying to enjoy a night out. Tragically, that family included Kayla's young daughter, who was sitting in the back seat while her mom fought for and ultimately lost her life. Desperate for any clue on who could commit such an atrocity, police speak to the survivors from the car, starting with Sierra, Kayla's best friend. >> I heard Kayla say, "Pull out go and turn around and I couldn't hand towards us like this. I think he was having an argument with someone nearby. We didn't instigate anything and showed up I guess you know and all I really remember is just kind of seeing the bullet holes through the window ducking down trying to grab his little sister up next to me and just kind of um we were just yelling go get out get out get out as fast as you can. Sierra's interview left police with more questions than answers because not only was the crime committed in front of an innocent child, but against people who had no criminal history and were trying to live ordinary, happy lives. Kayla, who was just 28, had struggled with substance abuse in [music] the past, but was 3 years sober in order to be in her daughter's life. And after all that work and soularching, that same daughter watched her life be taken [music] away from her. Seeking more information, police speak with witnesses who give them a piece of the puzzle that soon changes everything. >> The boys I've seen three kids. Three kids in black SUVs >> at least. >> At least. Okay. >> Like I if I if there was another one on the passenger I mean on like the passenger back seat. I didn't see him. But >> did you see any females in there? >> No, I just I I don't I perceived them as two three guys. >> Okay. >> You know, >> cuz of all this that was going on. >> Yeah. All this was going on. I I just see guys like two in the front, one in the back. >> Did they stop and get down or No, >> they stopped. >> And then what happened when they stopped? >> And when they stopped, like I'm here and I'm putting this back in and I'm trying to get my like thing to like put on my car. >> Well, while I'm doing that, I heard her say that. So, right when I heard her say that, they started to >> say what? What did she say again? That's him. >> Um, that's them, I think. Oh, no. The girl said, "Is that is that car?" That's that car. That's them. Like when she said like that, like like startled cuz she was scared, you know. >> Based on the witness testimony, police knew that the shooters had targeted the vehicle, believing that they were someone who had wronged them. And soon, after reviewing crystal clear surveillance footage, police were able to trace the shooting to a group of teens, 15-year-old Estavon, 19-year-old Diamond, 16-year-old Tai, and 17-year-old Caprice. Earlier that same night, Caprice and Diamond had been robbed at gunpoint and beaten. When they pulled into the gas station, they believed that the car Kayla was in was being driven by the men who had robbed them. Kayla obviously wasn't involved at all, but based on her car and an overwhelming amount of hubris only teens can muster, they decided to shoot at her anyway. Connecting the teens to that revenge for the robbery and specifically the white car that was driven during both incidents is the detective's first step towards trapping them. And we all know a caged bird sings. So, police start with 19-year-old Diamond. >> So, your mom, I don't want to call her auntie because I know you kind of call her mom, had described some type of incident that had taken place. Um, I guess it's been some time now. You can tell me the time. >> Um, so tell me about that. >> Um, well, I just went I was going to go get something and when I went to go get it, um, I got robbed at one point and it wasn't really such a big thing. Just I got pistol with a few times and it was done after that. Nothing really serious happened. So >> you got pistol with >> and now you said you you're going to get something. >> Yeah. >> What? Some What is something? Cuz I know what your mom told me. Okay. So let's just be honest. >> Um I was going to get a gun. >> Okay. He's going to go get gun. Thank you for being honest. So you were going to go get a gun. What kind of gun? What was >> I don't even know what kind it was. I was just going to get it. >> Why? I was doing someone a favor and that was just that and I offered to go do it by myself. So, >> okay. Okay. So, who did you go to to get this gun? >> Um, Columbus. >> So, when you went to go get this gun, who who were you communicating with? How were you supposed to who were you supposed to meet? >> Oh, no. I was supposed to just die off of Facebook. Um, he asked me to go there. He told me that to let him know when I was 5 minutes away that he would walk over there. Told him, "Okay, cool." Let him know when I was there. He walked to the door. Um, before I got there, I actually had said, "Let me see my purse. I'm going to put the money in there. I don't I have a bad feeling about this." Cuz I already have >> You said that? >> Yeah, I said it. I have a bad feeling about this. Um, so he walked into the car, gave me the box. So when he gave me the box, I went to go open it cuz he told me to look at it. And as soon as I opened it, he uh pulled out his gun and said, "Give me all your shit." And when he told me that, I looked at him and I started laughing cuz he was laughing and I thought he was kidding with me. And he was being serious. And then another male ran up on us and they started yelling at us and um we didn't give them anything. He just kept pistol with the United States. >> So who had you ever seen this guy before? Had you ever talked to him, dra >> any names? What how were you? How did you find him? >> Um just through, like I said, telegram his name. It was a really I don't it was a fake name. I can't remember it. >> So >> All right. And then so he gave you he said he gave you a box. What kind of box was it? >> It was a gun box. A box. >> It was a gun box. >> Yeah, it was a Glock box. Oh, block box. >> Um, so I'm familiar with block boxes a little bit. Was it cardboard? >> No, it was a black plastic box. >> Black plastic. Okay. >> So, just like the little has a little >> Yeah, it said walk on it. Yeah. I know a lot about guns. So, >> you do? >> Yeah. >> You do so much with guns. >> Oh, well, I don't have them, but I like to look like I like I'm interested in >> You're interested in that. Okay. Yeah. So, whose car who are you with? >> I was with the priest. Who's Caprice to you? >> She's supposed to be my best friend. >> Best friend, you said. Okay. And then um whose car were you guys in? >> Races car. >> What color is that? >> White. >> What kind of car is that? >> I don't know. >> Can you describe it for me? >> It's just a little white car. >> Little white car. Okay. Is it two door? Four door. Four door. Okay. >> Just like that, police have confirmed two things they already know. Firstly, that the robbery that they've suspected was the motive for the shooting did indeed happen. And secondly, that this group of teens drives around in a small white sedan matching the vehicle seen in surveillance footage at the gas station the night of Kayla's murder. >> Anything else about this incident that you can remember? >> That's it. >> Pretty crazy stuff happening there. Yeah, I just really loved it. It's I mean it's out of things like this happen every day. So >> I hope not. She does it happen to you every day to me but >> I was going to say it happens a lot but I mean I don't know if it happens every day and most people call the police and that happens because >> um I didn't want to call I don't I don't talk to c it took my mom a lot just to get me down here too. >> Okay. Why did it take you so long? Um, I just didn't know what you guys wanted to talk to me about. I stay home all the time now. >> Probably being a mix and whenever she told me about this, I kind of got freaked out. >> So afterwards, what happens afterwards? You said you went back to the house. >> Yeah, I stayed at my house. >> Okay. Did you go anywhere else after that? >> No, I stay home. Cuz when I asked your mom, I guess you guys didn't go home that night. >> No, I went home that night. I was home. >> So, young lady, I I got I need you to be honest with me. Okay. All right. Because I know of another incident that took place after this that you were involved with. Okay. So, we can either go where you deny it all or you can be honest and tell me your side of the story. >> I don't know what you're talking about. >> You don't know at all? No. >> Okay. Even though I have you on video? >> No. >> No. Were you ever at the Maverick gas station? >> No, sir. >> Off of Comanche. >> No, sir. >> No, not at all. >> Mhm. >> Giving you an opportunity here. I wanted to talk to you about that. Okay. Cuz I know what happens and I know you didn't shoot. So, this is an opportunity for you to be clean and tell me what happened. >> I don't know what you're talking about, sir. >> Yes, you do. I wouldn't just be making this stuff up. >> I don't know what you're talking about. >> Um, did you meet up with anybody else at that Maverick? >> I was never at that Maverick. >> Do you have a boyfriend named Estan? >> No. Well, that's news for 15-year-old Estavon, who having been seen on the surveillance footage in the vehicle, was brought in for an interrogation as well. And yes, we're aware that a 19-year-old dating a 15year-old is icky, but Estavon seems to think he's on top of the world. [music] >> What's your girlfriend name? >> Her name is um >> Her name is Diamond. >> Diamond. Okay. Why was that difficult for you to say that? >> Because I don't want to give you all my girlfriend. >> I got you. All right. Well, just keep it a diamond for now. Is that cool? >> Okay. How long have you been going out with diamond? >> Uh, like two weeks. >> About two weeks. >> Although Estavan throws his girlfriend under the bus and exposes her lie here, he at least decides to throw her a compliment. >> She pretty? >> Yeah. >> All right. Yeah, go for the prairie wines. How'd you meet her? >> Um, what's it called? I was uh I was leaving school and her best friend goes to the bab the baby mama school. That's what I call it. >> Oh, can you picture her? >> Yeah, she was picking her up. I was talking to her. >> Oh, nice. Nice. You know what? My wife settled me down 30 years ago. I was probably wrong uh rough and tough like you. But I got married and at a young age and now for 30 years I'm still a little bit more stable. Right. So girls sometimes can make us better. Sometimes they can make us worse though. So you got to be careful. You think this girl is going to make you better or worse? >> Better. >> All right. Good job. >> Back in Diamond's interrogation, she continues to deny knowing Estavon at all. Which kind of answers the good or bad influence question the detective asked him, doesn't it? Who is that? >> You don't know who that is? >> You going to look at this picture of Estelle or you going to tell me you don't know who he is? >> I don't know who he is. >> Steer your boyfriend. >> Okay. I know who he is. Okay. [clears throat] >> It's not my boyfriend >> and I talked to Steon and talk to Ty fast. >> Talk to everybody. >> Except for Diamond. >> Except for that. >> No, >> I don't know. No, you're going to deny it cuz it's going to look a lot worse later [snorts] when I get information that you were there confirming that you were there. >> I already know you were there on video. Okay. Now, it's going to look worse when I get other information that shows you there even though I don't have your phone. Okay. I know you're giving me the wrong phone number. I already know that. >> I want you. >> Yes, you do. Yes, you do. >> I'm 19. >> Okay. Don't dig yourself deeper into this hole. >> This is an opportunity that I give people a chance in a low heading. We're not at the station. I'm not going to arrest you. You're going to walk out of here today. Okay. 100%. But I need to know [snorts] the truth. I need to know it from your perspective. >> I don't know what you're talking about. >> Okay. So, as [snorts] Steon was lying that you and him were in a relationship, >> we were we broke up. >> Okay. When were you guys in a relationship? Let's start off with that. >> I don't feel comfortable talking about that. >> Fair. Okay. I'm not going to force you to say anything you don't want to say. Okay. But I know you guys were in a relationship, okay? I know who else was there. >> Diamond is as tough to crack as her namesake. Unfortunately for her, the other people who were in the car aren't, especially her supposed best friend, Caprice, who was also in the vehicle the night of the shooting. >> Now, the reason we we were um at your house this morning. >> Yes, sir. >> Is I got a question? >> I guess to to tell us uh what you think or why we were why we were at your house. I thought an incident had happened at my neighborhood or anything or I thought like my auntie did like let you guys know about what happened about like the rob >> that she had called us. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Fair. Good. Yeah. No, and and the reason why we were at your house was um your the little white car that you were talking about um and you you said about two weeks ago. So, I I do uh I have an incident with your white car at a gas station involved. >> Okay. And I have video of your white car. The reason I'm able to stop your white car is because you have distinctive marks on your car in the front. It has like a >> Whatever happened in the front there? Like it has like a like a scrape or something like a scuff. It's like >> instead of white, there's like a black. >> What was that? >> Hit a curve. >> You hit a curve. >> Yeah. >> How big was a curve? side. >> I went to turn and I turned a little too much in. >> Okay. I again I have girls and I understand >> um so um I have a video that that shows a car um exactly matching that description with new school chili plates with that black mark in the front bumper. >> Very specific at a gas station. Okay. Now I am going to be honest with you and I and I really really really would ask you to think for a second um about your future. Okay? Think about your future. Think about your child. You have a four you're pregnant four months. Um let's say you're 17. You have you have a long long road ahead of you. >> That's what you desire. Okay. Um there's opportunities when we get in a situation like this to be uh really really honest. Okay. And and what I mean by that is um [snorts] I I know you know you're very smart girl. I can tell you're very you you you know how to speak well and I believe your aunties have has done a job with you to to at least educate you enough and you're driving and you have driver's license and all that. Um, [snorts] now keeping all that in the back of your mind, we're not here by coincidence. Like I said, I have a video um that at [clears throat] a gas station about 2 weeks ago um on a Friday night on March 25th, very specific >> at about [snorts] 8, you actually show up around 8:21. Um, and you and a friend who I believe is probably Diamond. Um, you're waiting there [clears throat] and then you park up by a gas gas pump and you're waiting there. Now, there is two guys that approach you guys. You're right in that sense. Uh, what I need from you going forward is the truth because I have absolute video and how I know it's you and this I I 100% know it's the vehicle. Okay. Now I with your distinctive hair, you know, I guess I've been told that it's called ombre. I don't know if that's what you call it. >> Is that what it's called? >> Yes, sir. >> Darker on top, gold tips or black tips. Okay. >> Uh when I look at the video, the driver >> has hair just like you. >> Height, everything matches. >> We've been doing a long time. these kids that you've been involved with, Diamond included, and the other boys, they could care less about you. I'm telling you right now, the end of the day, when all this gets figured out, it's going to be each person taking care of themselves. They care less about you. We've been And where wherever you end up, you need to remember to take care of yourself and your child because That's all that's going to be there. And then hopefully your auntie and some other family members, but these other kids you're hanging out with, [snorts] I'm telling you, I promise you, I promise. So, please just again understand uh understand this situation and understand what John is is asking. >> Remember, you're at a gas station. There's other people around >> and cameras all over the place. [clears throat] >> Cameras all over the place. [snorts] So, I'm going to give you an opportunity now. I I wanted to hear your story, okay? But it's not the truth. So, we either going to continue with this lie or you're going to help yourself with thinking about your child, thinking about other things in your life, and be honest about what happened because you know exactly what happened. Now, how much did you get involved with that? I do not know and I need that because you're either going to go down for everything that happened or you're going to help with figuring out who exactly I know who shot again. The video's there. It's bright. It was right. [snorts] >> All right. >> I'm just scared about all this. I'm sorry. >> I understand that. I understand you being scared, young lady. I'm scared for you. Honestly, honestly, I'm scared for the rest of your life in the sense of I don't want you to make a wrong decision at this point when you have an opportunity to be honest with me and tell me everything you know and who these guys were cuz you know them. You know them exactly cuz you jumped into the other car. You jumped into the other car and you were in the back seat when you guys left [snorts] and some of the the guys that you know, they drove off in your vehicle. I know these things. See what I'm saying? >> Yeah. It's just it's scary cuz you can't I don't It's like I'm broke in between cuz I just I can't be known as a snitch. It's not a good name out here. This [laughter] >> I get [snorts] it. I get it. That's a decision you have to make. This is the moment that Caprice realized she made a big big mistake and that the only way out is snitching on every single person who was in the vehicle with her. Diamond on the other hand isn't ready to own up to her role in the murder of an innocent mother in front of her own daughter. Do you know what you're talking about? >> No. Okay. >> I can I can see that it's bothering you. >> I don't know what you guys are talking about. >> You know exactly what I'm talking about. Talking about the shooting incident that happened at the Maverick >> that you were involved with. >> I don't know anything about it. >> Okay. That has Caprice's car there. It has you and Caprice there. You talking to a Stevon in the yellow hoodie. Okay. I know these things. I know what fastpack was wearing. Tie tie diagos. I know those things. Okay. So, this is an opportunity at this level just to be honest. >> I don't know what you're talking about. >> Is it something because you're afraid? >> I am afraid. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I want to make sure. Yeah. Because it threatened you. >> No. >> To not say something. Yeah. >> No. In his interrogation, Estavon proves that even though he and his cougar lady friend don't have their age in common, they do have one thing they can connect on, their dedication to dishonesty. [music] >> So, I I'll kind of tell you what I'm, you know, investigating, okay? I'm investigating the car, the black car that you guys were in tonight. Okay? >> Reference another incident that took place uh probably about a week ago now. Maybe two weeks ago. >> Okay. Actually, it was 2 weeks ago and tomorrow will be two weeks on a Friday night. Do you know what I'm talking about? >> No. [clears throat] >> No. >> No, sir. >> At all? >> No. >> Okay. Um, it was about a shooting that took place at a gas station. >> You know what I'm talking about, right? >> No. >> Okay. [snorts] Look, Stephan, you know, you don't want I don't want you to get in further any trouble, but you got to be honest. Now's the time to be honest with us. >> I don't know anything. >> Okay. >> Are you sure? >> Yes. >> You know, I've been doing this for a little bit of time, right? And you're not doing too good at covering that up. Okay. So, I know you know information about what happened? >> No, I don't have Okay. >> Were you at the shooting when it happened? No. Okay. Were you responsible for any part of the shooting when it took place? >> Were you with Tai when it took place? >> No. Okay. Cuz guess what I'm going to do? >> Yes. >> What? >> I'm going to investigate you. >> Right. Because that's what I get paid to do. That's what I love to do. Okay. I'm going to investigate and I'm going to talk to a lot of different people. I already been talking to a lot of people and guess what? I got video of everything that took place. Okay. >> While Estavon and Diamond aren't sweating the questions being lobbed their way, Caprice has realized she's backed into a corner and she's ready to tell the truth. >> Tell me what happened. >> Um, we were just meeting the >> [snorts] >> people that we were with, guys, well, the guys that came just to talk to them about the situation. We [snorts] weren't aware of anything happening. We weren't we didn't know that anything was going to happen. We were just there to talk. Um, yeah, he was he was mad. Um, he wasn't mad at me. It was my friend. It was his girlfriend. [snorts] And um it was all just about like us being like by ourselves and everything. And um my friend had I guess the car that had that she had remembered that had um came up. She remembered them from like I guess robbing us or something. And all I remember is [snorts] the car rolling down the window. And I just I ducked into the car and I did honestly I just heard shots and that's it. I just stayed in the car. >> Well, how many shots did you one second count on my head? alone. >> Yes, >> that's pretty much what your participation. I see you jump in there. I believe that you're trying to hide. >> Yeah, >> you're scared. >> I mean, I have no reason to lie to you. You already have information. I mean, there' be no reason for me to hide. >> So, you guys decided to meet up. Who's communicating with who at that point? How did they how did who communicated with who to tell them to meet at that maverick? >> Um it was the boys or like the boys either my friend told them to just meet so we could talk. >> So Diamond communicated with them to say meet up there. >> Um I believe so. Yeah. >> What was the stay on that night? >> So he's wearing the yellow hoodie. [snorts] Who else is in the vehicle? That black vehicle. >> Black one. >> Ty. [snorts] >> Who was driving? Let's start with that. >> I don't know. >> Okay. What was What was Ty wearing? >> I can't remember that either. [snorts] >> So, Ty, what's his last name? >> I don't know. I don't really know them >> like that. Like I them. >> She knows the car. me when she said that I like just something other car that's just I heard shots. >> Did you see that vehicle that pulled up? >> No, sir. I I went into the other car right when I heard her say. >> What made you get out of the vehicle? [snorts] cuz [sighs] they were fighting. >> Who was fighting? [snorts] >> Cuz I already know that they probably knew there was altercation between a man and a woman. It was um it was Stew and Diamond. >> Okay. So Stew and Diamond were fighting. >> Yeah, they were having an argument. So I just got out of the car and then when she said that, I jumped into the backseat of the car. >> What specifically did she say? I I don't even know. We were just yelling at each other. [laughter] [snorts] >> You said something about you seen something on the news. >> Yeah, cuz I I said um and it was a manual notification. What else? And then you say that that made sense to you >> just about the shooting didn't too much. >> Okay. >> Okay. So you jump in the back of the car. Tell me what happens from there. >> I just stay in the back of the car and killed off. Okay. After you guys drive off, what happens? We were just freaking out. We were um at I don't know whose house, but we were just all freaking out. What had happened? >> Cuz you were in the still in the back seat. >> Yes, sir. >> And who was who was driving? >> I believe Ty. >> So Ty was driving when you guys took off. Okay. And um who was driving your vehicle? >> One of either Stem or Adam. I don't know. >> Adam, [snorts] so where did you guys meet up at? just I don't know some some kind of neighborhood. >> What happened to neighborhood and then what happened? >> That was it. We were all just freaking out. [snorts] Just talking about what [clears throat] what just have happened. [snorts] >> What else were you guys doing? >> That was it. I'm going to be just at home. [snorts] >> You you went or did you go to >> um I went um back at D. >> So you went back to diamonds >> and then I don't know where the place went. Okay. >> Who had guns? >> The boys. I don't I don't know who whose gun was what or what happened, but >> Did you ever touch a gun? >> Did you ever handle a gun? >> Have I ever handled >> Did you handle a gun that night? >> Oh, no. >> Like afterwards or before? >> No. >> No. >> Finally, the police know who the driver of the vehicle is. a 16-year-old named Tai Guyos who much like the other teens struggles to accept responsibility. Only he brings things to a new low by begging for his mommy. >> You doing okay? >> Actually cold for some reason. >> You're what? You're cold. And what did you say after that? >> I'm low. >> Low iron. >> Low iron. Okay. Sorry. >> Same. I totally get you. I get really really cold, too. >> Yeah. right now. I guess I have a little bit more insulation than most of you. [laughter] So, I'm a little bit right now doing okay. So, but it is kind of cold in here. >> So, um Ty, we I want to talk to you about some some things, but um [snorts] >> my mom to be here. >> I said I need my mom to be here. >> You want your mom to be here? >> Yes. >> Oh, okay. >> I've been asking, but they said I had to wait till you >> guys No, no, no problem. I'm going to I'm going to get your your full information first and then um get a number for your mom. You know her number? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> The irony that Tai is whining for his mom in the interrogation room while a young child is out there without a mother because of something he contributed to is heartbreaking. In the aftermath of the shooting, Kayla's daughter was so traumatized that her friend, who had [music] custody of Kayla's daughter, took her across the country for a fresh start. But when you see something like that at such a young age, it's impossible to forget. [music] And slowly, at least one of these teens seems to be starting to understand that >> since that happened somehow. What have you guys been communicating? >> I was just figuring out what we were going to do. >> Okay. >> That's I'm kind of scared for telling you all this. What was the threats that were made? >> It's just known if you're a snitch, you know, it's not good name. And I mean, it's not like I'm snitching. You already know all this stuff. Like, no matter what, we'd go down either way. [snorts] >> Do you guys know that that vehicle was not the vehicle that was involved? I didn't know that. >> So, for a moment, okay, [snorts] I know you're you're concerned about yourself and I it's totally with that, but just understand, you know, we have a whole family, you know what I mean? Simply going to get gas. [snorts] Then they freak out because these guys are armed. >> Caprice has left some details out. details that make everything even more heartbreaking. Because the boys, Estavon and Tai, weren't just with Diamond and Caprice when the van happened to pull up. Caprice and Diamond watched the vehicle Kayla's family was [music] in pull up. And believing that it was the car that had robbed them earlier, Diamond actually called Estavon, her boy toy, and demanded that he come over and take care [music] of business. It wasn't a spur-of-the- moment decision. It was a planned, calculated murder against the wrong person. And despite that, both Diamond and Estavon are on the same page. Snitches get stitches. But if they were actually smart, they'd realize snitches get something a lot better than that. A freaking plea [music] deal. I just want you to understand that what so we we've already had the chance to talk with um so we do know some of the stuff that he had talked to you about. Okay. So I don't want you to feel like like you have to be dishonest with us. Okay? cuz you are a good kid. I don't got nothing else to say. Stan, um, I'm going to do my investigation, okay? And I'm I'm I'm hoping that you are telling me 100% the truth like my partner said. Okay, we have information that I believe you know more. Okay. Now, I like to tell people and I try to try to help them out by saying this is an opportunity that you have, okay, to either be honest or tell me a lie. And then when I find out other information and I'm able to put it all together because I have solid evidence, um, [snorts] then you can be included in any charges that could have taken place. Okay? Um, because if you're we use this word in in police terms, um, let's call conspiring. What that means is you get together with somebody else and you guys talk about something and you guys know that there's a plan and there's something that's going on. Okay? And if there's something like that taking place and you know about it and you [snorts] and either you were there or you weren't there, now I can I can kind of see you not being there. Okay. All right. And there's a there's a couple of guys that I can't identify 100%. Okay. But I can tell by the way they stand, the stature, and everything else. And that's why we talk to a lot of different people. Okay? Now, that's either you one of you're one of those guys. I know one guy you're not. Okay? Now, if you're one of the other two guys and you're lying to me now, you're going to face some serious charges. Okay? If you are one of those guys, now's the time to speak up. Okay? Now, you were in the white car sitting there. I know you were out talking, but when the actual shooting happens, you were in the white car. I just need to know >> what was the conversations like? What were you guys talking about? >> I don't know what you're talking about. >> Was it because of this? Is that why you called them to meet you up there? >> I don't know what you're talking about. >> No, >> I never went to that gas station. >> You never So when I get proof that you were there and your phone was there even though I don't have your phone, what's that going to tell me? >> I wasn't there. >> Okay. And if you are there, then that's gonna show me that you're lying. All right. I wasn't there. [snorts] Um, so you're telling me, let me make sure. >> So you're at home. Never went to the Maverick gas station on convention everywhere. >> No, sir. Were you around a shooting that night? >> No sir. >> Were you with Estan that night? >> No sir. >> Were you with Estean ever at a gas station like Maverick? >> No sir. >> Do you know who was responsible for shooting that night? >> I don't know what you're talking about sir. Oh, you do because you were there talking to him for approximately you arrived there um probably about I'll tell you what time about 8:21 in the evening and then you guys parked the motor and you guys made it there for about 10 minutes then you guys moved over No I'm sorry not 10 minutes four or five minutes and then you guys moved over by the gas pumps all this is on video you have to know that okay you guys moved over by the gas pumps and waited for about 10 minutes and then Ty driving in the black for focus comes in on the corner. Steon gets out. He's already back. He's upset. He can tell he's he's on this. Okay. >> He's armed with a gun and so is that. They walk over. They talk to you on the passenger side 100%. Was it because of this? Was it because they gave you money and they got stolen? Was it because what happened? That's right. >> Okay. All right. We'll leave it at [snorts] that. Fair. >> Do you have anything else? No. No. >> Diamond. Do you have anything else for me? [laughter] >> You okay? >> Yeah. >> I I'm going to respect you. Have I disrespected you? No. And I don't want to ever disrespect you. Okay. because I have to do an investigation and I give people opportunities to to talk to me to tell me the truth and then that way I can figure out where I need to go. Okay? So, I'm not going to disrespect you. Okay? If I tell you what's up, I'll tell you what's up. Right? In fact, I said if I have to talk to you again or there's something that comes out of all this and see that you're lying to me, which I believe you are, um, you know, I I have to do my job. >> Okay. >> Is that fair? >> Okay. But um I'm not going to disrespect you and I and I try not to. Okay. [clears throat] Um because you have that right. I respect. Okay. If you have any questions, you can call me. >> Okay. >> All right. Fair enough. >> Okay. >> Okay. Anything else for now? >> Okay. Let me walk you out. In the end, five teens were faced with charges related to the horrific murder of Kayla Montano, Taigos, Estavan Luchero, Diamond Salazar, Caprice, [music] and another teen who was in the car but wasn't interrogated, Adam Sado. In the end, every teen seems to have wised up and stopped trying to lie their way out of the horrific crime they committed. Diamond plead guilty to seconddegree murder and two counts of aggravated assault, earning herself just 19 years [music] in prison. By the time she is released, she'll likely be in her 30s. Her 15-year-old boyfriend, Estavon, who was believed to have been the man to pull the trigger on the fatal shots, plead guilty to first-degree murder in exchange for 22 years behind bars. Tai plead guilty to first-degree murder in exchange for 10 years, and Adam received the same. Thanks to her cooperation, the charges against Caprice were actually dropped. Since the murder, she has gone on to have two baby [music] boys and as far as we can tell, has stayed on the right side of the law. Unfortunately, we're not sure we expect the same when the others are released in what may seem like a long time, [music] but is much, much sooner than many believe they deserve.
