She was arrested and charged with assault. [music] The bar owner also indicated an intention to pursue a criminal damage charge against the woman responsible for breaking the window. On June 6th, 2023, a woman became the subject of a lengthy California Highway Patrol pursuit after officers attempted to check on her welfare in San Juan Capistrano. Instead of stopping, she continued north on the five freeway toward Los Angeles County, leaving officers trying to bring the situation to a close. >> Let's get a little over it. We got that sound wall. And I think they might try a spike strip from the from the right side here coming up somewhere up there. Hollywood way. Yeah. Uh just kind of just just hug the hug the freeway a little bit. That's all. As we continue up the five freeway, worth pointing out, if we widen just a little bit, you'll be able to see they've actually set up a traffic break behind her. You've got three units behind her and then a fourth unit actually keeping the rest of the traffic back behind them. So, you can see all of that empty freeway. That is a uh an empty freeway because they have created that traffic break about a half mile behind her. And she has now made her way past Buenav Vista Street. Again, still holding steady in that number three lane. Three units behind her. Additional CHP resources set up ahead of her. And we can anticipate another spike strip here in just a little bit. We'll keep an eye out for that coming up uh in the next half mile or so. There's the spike. And it looks like a pretty successful spike. Pretty much uh nailed it. We'll see if those tires react and start to lose air, but she went right over them, I believe, with all four tires, squarely over that uh textbook spike uh spike toss. And uh you saw her try to evade. It was already too late. She tried to switch over to that number two lane. Uh but it looked like a pretty good spike, so we'll see. It almost looks like she's already slowing down. It does look like she's slowing down now to about 30 miles per hour. Pasadena Airship with their night sun on now as they assist the California Highway Patrol. The SUV now slowing to a crawl here about 15 miles per hour, maybe showing signs of stopping. Thank you. And it looks like both uh both of the front tires, the right and left tires on the front end are gradually losing air. That driver side tire almost completely flat. And you can see that right passenger side tire uh going flat as well. again uh as she's basically driven over two spike strips. That last one clearly was effective. Was able to inject a straw [snorts] like peg of this pursuit. The five freeway is essentially shut down. There is a solid traffic break behind her and when we first join you there was about three units in this pursuit. Uh that number has since doubled uh when you consider the units behind her as well as the units they are setting up ahead of her uh for these various spike strips. And we've seen uh a few a few different units actually speed up ahead of her. So seems like a good time for a pit maneuver. We'll see if they give the go-ahad here. That would bring it to a fairly uh peaceful end here. But uh they may just let her grind to a halt as those wheels begin to give out.com. This all started as a welfare check down in Orange County. CHP Orange County uh division actually San Juan Capistronto officers trying to uh check on her when she fled and the pursuit began northbound on the five freeway and she has refused to pull over ever since. She was holding steady straight up the five at the tail end of rush hour making her way into LA County with very light traffic all the way up through uh downtown LA and now into the San Fernando Valley where this pursuit's been going on for more than an hour. And now a slow speed chase continuing up the five freeway with almost all four tires impacted by several spike strip attempts uh tearing apart that driver's side tire completely. That front left tire is gone. So, that's one rim. And then, uh, the front right tire is flat as well. And here comes the pit attempt just barely fast enough as that CHP unit pulls right up along her right rear, attempting to fishtail the vehicle and uh, spin it around. So, there's the pit. And now you can see that that rim just spinning and grinding straight into the pavement. of the five freeway here. And now the vehicle coming to a complete stop. This pursuit has halted here in Silar, northbound side of the five freeway. California Highway Patrol moving out of the way, getting rid of uh any crossfire risk here. And you can see uh six units uh now able to make that arrest. And the next you can see those doors still closed. still closed and uh no movement yet from that driver's side. Something being projected into the passenger side of the vehicle. Likely less than lethal uh maybe rubber bullets being fired in there. If we could, Johnny, let's go ahead. Let's go ahead and do an orbit. see what we can see out the passenger side. I still don't see any movement, but you can see something some projectile being shot more more fire into the vehicle. Look at this. At last check, that passenger side window was was shut. I don't know if it's been rolled down since we've been following her on the driver's side, but they have now fired something into the vehicle through that passenger side window. Several rounds. You can see that driver's side window has been shattered as well. And it's unclear whether she has been struck, but uh an interesting tactic there by the California Highway Patrol. Not sure what prompted them to do that. You can see she's now clutching onto what appears to be a pillow, maybe shielding herself with uh with that object. You can see them shining a bright light into the passenger side. Does is the There must be some holes in that passenger window, right? Yeah, you can see it shattered there, but the windows are still up. More more shots fired here. Look at this. with a shield. Look at them approaching that back seat. Approaching the back seat towards the driver trying to get a view from the rear. And we'll get a better idea if there is anybody in the back seat here. They've now shattered that rear window. And we'll push all the way in there. Josh, let's push all the way in if we can. and see if we could. As they do this, they clear those windows and you can see if there's anybody uh or anything of interest in the rear back seats. [snorts] CHP making communication with the driver on the northbound side of the five freeway. female suspect on the ground now being restrained by those California Highway Patrol officers and it does appear the vehicle is clear. So nobody else [snorts] inside the vehicle. They are giving the code for they have taken the only person in that vehicle out and she is putting up a little bit of a struggle, but she is now safely in custody and I would not be surprised uh if they perhaps call for an ambulance. But as of right now, we should point out the five freeway remains shut down at the termination of this pursuit. Shut down in Silar here with traffic building up uh as far back as the 101 here. So, a lengthy traffic jam here in the San Frernando Valley. The five freeway all jammed up as you make your way north into the San Frernando Valley from downtown LA. California Highway Patrol placing one woman under arrest and uh fortunately nobody hurt. >> The pursuit eventually ended in Silar where the woman was removed from the SUV and taken into custody after more than an hour on the freeway. She was the only person found inside the vehicle and the available information does not provide a confirmed list of criminal charges. March 4th, 2024, Arkansas State Police joined a pursuit near Hensley after the Saline County Sheriff's Office requested assistance with a fleeing vehicle. The driver allegedly swerved repeatedly between lanes and continued refusing to give officers a safe opportunity to stop the vehicle. >> They just passed me. We are going 167 towards Woodson. 10 more pass. We got four guys to watch too. Believe we got a trooper behind me. I'm just waiting on him catch up. 15 back up with the tripper in 11 is primary. Going for TVI standby. We're still 67 TVI. TVI TV just out in the woods. Roll over. Roll over. Roll over. Central start 11. Can you give me a little love tap on the back to get me unstuck? I will. >> You going to push you down into it? >> Yeah. I'd rather be stuck here than wedged here. The SUV overturned after the intervention, ejecting the front seat passenger while the driver ran from the wreck on foot. The driver was eventually captured and taken into custody for traffic and fleeing charges. The passenger was transported to Saint Vincent Hospital in Little Rock for treatment.
