In the aftermath, the driver was ultimately allowed to leave the scene after being issued a citation related to the marijuana container and traffic violations. No major arrest followed despite the confrontation. But one question remained. Many viewers say the officer's actions were inappropriate. Others say they were justified. What do you think? Let us know in the comments. On August 19th, 2024 deputies were already searching for a black Dodge Scat Pack tied to fake tags and repeated attempts to flee from police. The moment Deputy Bradford tried to check the vehicle, the driver chose to run again without hesitation. >> All right, he's coming to you. Get ready. I'm catching up to him now. He was later transported to a hospital for clearance before being booked into the Clayton County Jail. Charges included possession of a stolen vehicle, tampering with a vehicle identification number, and firearm related offenses after a handgun was recovered from the car. March 9th, 2024 began with a suspicious scene in Clayton County as a woman struggled to enter a vehicle just as a patrol unit approached. He was booked into the Clayton County Jail facing 16 charges, including felony evading and reckless driving. Investigators also noted signs of drug distribution activity inside the rental vehicle with cash recovered and a broader investigation still ongoing. On February 10th, 2026, at approximately 9:40 p.m., deputies in Duth, Minnesota attempted to stop a driver reported for erratic behavior along Grand Avenue. The driver later identified as Donald Felver III refused to cooperate and forced deputies into a dangerous escalation. They were on I35 though 69's going to be Sam Mary George 542. Authorities recovered a handgun and spent casings from inside the vehicle. The case was later handled as an officer involved shooting investigation with findings centered on the threat posed during the encounter. September 15th in Little Rock quickly turned tragic when a stolen Nissan Maxima speeding through traffic drew police attention. The driver's attempt to outrun officers created a situation that put pedestrians directly in harm's way. The aftermath revealed devastating consequences with Trendia Horton, aged 39, pronounced gone at the scene and her daughter transported for treatment after sustaining serious injuries. The driver, Jordan Matthew Vandenborgi, was later charged with firstdegree murder along with multiple additional charges, including fleeing theft of property and battery. Investigators confirmed the pursuing officer was cleared of wrongdoing. On April 2nd, 2020, authorities received information that an armed robbery suspect was traveling through Oklahoma City. The situation ended after a prolonged standoff in which Carwell was ultimately pronounced gone following multiple exchanges of gunfire with law enforcement. Officials later confirmed that officers were cleared of wrongdoing. Carwell's actions, including firing at officers and refusing negotiation efforts, played a central role in how the incident concluded. August 5th, 2025 started as a minor traffic stop attempt along Interstate 4 in Florida when a pickup truck was flagged for simple violations. Instead of stopping, the driver chose to accelerate and turn the situation into something far more serious. You have a 123 pick up front. We got light traffic. Off the road area. Once it was over, the driver was taken into custody at the scene and investigators uncovered approximately 150 lbs of marijuana inside the vehicle along with large amounts of cash and valuables. The suspect faced multiple serious charges including drug trafficking, reckless driving, and fleeing with violence. What began as a small violation quickly exposed a much larger operation. On April 27th, 2025, an Arkansas trooper noticed a motorcycle accelerating aggressively through traffic without proper safety gear. The rider, later identified as Kyop Reinhardt, made it clear he had no intention of stopping once police attention was on him. Pull over. 25 take in St. Michael Drive 1037. He later admitted he ran simply for the thrill of it. Charges included driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, no insurance, and felony fleeing. What followed afterward left a lasting impression as the driver abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot, leaving behind a woman, an infant, and a loaded handgun inside the wrecked car. He was later apprehended and faced multiple charges, including fleeing child endangerment and weapons violations. Authorities focused heavily on the risk posed to those left behind. On January 15th, 2023, a late night speed check near Highway 85 clocked a vehicle moving far above the posted limit. Lieutenant B. Additional felony fleeing charges were set to follow. July 22nd, 2022 unfolded on a quiet overnight shift when an Arkansas trooper encountered a driver refusing to stop. On July 25th, 2024, a Clayton County deputy attempted to stop a Dodge Charger for something as minor as a defective headlight. Shut up. >> The driver was ultimately taken into custody after the vehicle crashed and multiple occupants were secured at the scene. Investigators later confirmed he had several outstanding warrants and was found with marijuana stolen credit cards, identification cards, and fraudulent checks. Charges stacked up quickly with fleeing possession and fraud related offenses. September 24th, 2025 began with officers noticing something off about a semi-truck moving through Fontana with mismatched plates. When they attempted a stop, the driver chose to keep going, turning a massive vehicle into the center of a multi- agency response. >> Yeah, you were just saying something. I was um listening to our producer as we get ready for the 11 a.m. newscast again. You are watching a special edition [music] of Eyewitness News um at 11. But you were talking about the fuel. how these these I mean they are long haul the these vehicles are meant for long haul rides and um it they could have been completely full and we don't know exactly what is going on. I do feel I feel for the for the CHP who on the five and on the 91 trying to figure out is this driver going to go back onto the freeway and if they're trying to get ahead of it it's it's it's very complicated. 45. >> Yeah. And we're back in the same spot. If you've been with us for a while, then you've seen the semi turn onto Commonwealth before. And uh it won't it's not far from here. That spot where the semi drove by a surface street. I forget the name of that street, but it was in a residential area almost. And we had half a dozen people come out and try and get their attention and wave at them. Uh so it it's hard to believe that they were just out because of social media and knew he was heading in that direction. Uh, so we could see there's some people out on the street there. This could be the same spot we were at before. >> Boy. Oh, they want to get out or they want to grab something from that vehicle or put something on top. >> They grab something from the very top, I believe. >> Oh. Oh my goodness. We We never see this. That was a SWAT vehicle that just slammed into the semi on the side. Came out of nowhere. We didn't even see that vehicle. We hadn't known it was here. and they came in and just slammed into the side of that semi uh with their armored vehicle. So now you have two vehicles and they're both really heavy. I'm not sure. I've never seen it, but maybe they can do a pit maneuver with that armored vehicle. If the semi tries to make a turn at a slow enough rate of speed and they can get behind it and hit the rear, they can get it to spin out. There's no way with the center of gravity on it. >> Just looking at this is what I'm talking about about see how he reached out and he got back in. So that's what made me think, okay, this is no longer a person against their will. He is a participant. Now, I could be wrong. Clearly, he could have been coerced to do that. But something was on the roof of that vehicle that he very specifically reached out, got it, and that's that's when they took their shot is is when they tried to move him over. But now if Bruce is still around, you know, Bruce, that that gives the person in the cab of that truck an idea as to also >> what the police are thinking uh when they go that aggressively to try to get him to stop. Yeah, Philip, you know, I have actually never seen a ramming with a Bearcat like that before, but I think what they've determined is there is no way to stop this big red cab without I mean, you can't do a pit maneuver with a regular police car. So, having a bear is what they need. >> Here we go. Bruce, we're going to interrupt you and go back to Scott, though. >> Oh, they pinned them in. That's a that's an undercover vehicle. They're out of their cars. Their guns are going to be drawn. They have him pinned somewhat, but with a semi-tractor like that, if he puts it in reverse, he'll just push those vehicles behind him away. But right now, they've got him surrounded. The Bearecat pulled in front just moments ago or at Franklin and Beach Street in the Anaheim area. And at least for now, what we have is a standoff and we haven't seen the suspects try and drive that vehicle ever since the Bearecat pulled in front. Uh, but you see the under cover vehicles. There's three of them there. There's more Fontana PD. This is a caper. I'm sure they were on way back in Fontana. They know who this individual is. They're not going to let him get away. They're not going to let him make a run for it. I have um you know suspect that this is a hardened criminal. Uh they've been following and they want and they're going to take him into custody. And right now we just have a standoff. But look at all the Fontana PD officers and he's getting out. It looks like the door is opening right now. It's a critical moment. >> Scott, you may not be able to see it, but the passenger is also out hands up. >> Right. >> So that person on the other side is out right now. And then now is that okay? >> Now they're they're trying. >> The situation ended in Buena Park with both the driver and passenger taken into custody as investigators worked to understand their connection. Authorities later revealed both men had outstanding warrants tied to Grand Theft Auto while the driver was also wanted as an armed and dangerous parole. Additional charges were expected as the case developed. On August 3rd, 2012, a traffic stop in Eugene, Oregon, drew attention after a speeding motorcyclist was pursued by police. What followed during the stop would later become the focus of a legal battle. The case carried on long after the roadside encounter with Justin Wilkins filing a lawsuit against Captain Rob Edwards over the force used during the arrest. A jury ultimately ruled in Wilkins's favor, awarding damages and determining that his civil rights had been violated. The incident remained a point of discussion around police conduct and use of force. February 28th, 2023 saw Florida Highway Patrol troopers respond to a vehicle reported without a license plate on Interstate 95 when trooper Hudgen located the truck. He was charged with multiple felonies, including burglary, domestic assault, and resisting arrest by fleeing. He was held without bond and later received a lengthy sentence.
