They're 16. >> Did you shoot your parents? So, you're basically saying that I'm the culprit. Theoretically speaking, let's say that it was me, right? So, I'm going to be honest with you, it's not really theoretical at this point. This is transgender teenager, 16-year-old Julia Grace Egler. Minutes ago, Julia murdered her mother, Kelly, and Kelly's boyfriend. And right now, she's come to the devastating realization that killing two people comes with its consequences. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. You okay? I don't know. But Julia's story is far more unbelievable than you realize, because from her gender fiascos to her she misgendering you, so she'd be like, "You're not a real boy." And blah, blah, and all to her playing the victim, detectives will slowly begin to uncover exactly what happened to Kelly and Matthew. She took my iPod and my phone. I think I had like Minecraft or Five Nights at Freddy's on it. On July 6, 2024, Palm Beach police received a 911 call from a teenager claiming in tears that an intruder had broken in and killed her mother and her mother's boyfriend. The caller was a transgender teen, Julia Egler, who preferred to go by Jasper, and who we will be calling Julia Jasper due to the sheer amount of times both names are used by investigators. Their mother, 38-year-old Kelly McCollum, had been separated from their father for quite some time and had been dating her new beau, 22-year-old Matthew Sezenrock, for over a year. From the outside, the house looked quaint and happy. [music] But inside, things were pure chaos, and they had been for quite some time. When police arrived on the scene shortly after 1:00 a.m., they smelled something they couldn't ignore, a whole load of BS. What time is it, love? What's going on? Okay. Why is there blood on the floor? Cuz we're Huh? >> [laughter] >> What? You okay? Are you okay? Are you bleeding? No. Who is bleeding? What is going on? Why is that door smashed? Someone came in. Sure, but the joke is we have medical responding. We have blood on the floor. Who is bleeding? Where is your mom? Stay here. Stay here. Hey. What is 10-33? Somebody stay out here with her. Okay, we are. Have a seat, right here. Inside police discovered the body of Julia's mom, 38-year-old Kelly McCollum, and her mother's boyfriend, 22-year-old Matthew Sesnarock. Both had been shot several times, seemingly as they entered the front door of the home. Matthew somehow managed to crawl to the bathroom, where he was then attacked with a knife. >> [music] >> The crime scene was an unmistakably heinous one, and the person behind it was sitting on the front porch, throwing themselves a pity party. Please note the sign behind Julia Jasper, who clearly took its words far too seriously. Are you okay? Oh, I mean, physically, I guess, locked up. They're in my room. No, they're just in my room. Is the door to your room open? No, they're just closed. Okay. We have 43. Hey, what's your name? Julia. Huh? Julia Eckler. Julia Eckler? Eckler. Eckler. Okay, who do you live here with, hon? Your mom? Are you okay? Are you injured at all? Is it bleeding? No. Okay. Who Who else lives here? Just your mom? Her boyfriend lives here a lot. Her boyfriend? What's his name? Uh Matthew. Matthew? [snorts] I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. Do you have any other family in the area? No. Yeah. No, my brother, please. Yeah, he's in his twenties. He was only scared of my dad. He takes us. Okay. 9:54 on the voice note. Can I tell you something? Yeah, I'm going to sit in the car. I promise, okay? He said it more. It's okay. I'm so sorry about Police take Julia Jasper down away from the scene to prevent them from compromising it. Although at this point, as they'll soon learn, Julia Jasper's already manipulated every aspect of it, and they're about to tell a story that matches the scene they've created. Okay. That's kind of what What it started. What started? When When he kicked in the Matthew kicked in the window. No, I don't know who it was. You don't know who it was? Okay. Oh, it's the front window right here? No, it was It was the glass sliding doors in the back. The door was closed. You closed it back? Where was your mom? Her and her boyfriend were out. They were dining. This is so crazy. And so they were out when this when you heard this person pop through the window? Yes. Okay. [snorts] What time did this happen? It was August 1st. It was just August 1st. It seemed like dogs were barking. It was just like it was minutes ago. No, it was like 3 hours ago. Like a couple hours ago. Mhm. Okay. >> [clears throat] >> Um So, did you call your mom and tell her? I didn't call her. I was I couldn't get the phone. I couldn't I didn't know what I didn't know what to do. It was I didn't know what to do. He got stuck. And he used that smash the patio I don't think he knew that it was a lot, but that's why I I just ran I ran to my room cuz I didn't know that he could just open the door and come in. Okay, so this guy smashed the back window while you were inside. And did you call 911? I didn't know what Okay. I couldn't do anything. Okay. So, you just stayed in your room. I was so scared. I couldn't I didn't know what I couldn't do anything. Now, if you couldn't make out Julia Jasper's story through the crocodile tears, let's lay it out for you. They claim that while their mother and her boyfriend were gone, a masked man broke into the home through the backyard, burgled the home, and then shot her mother and her boyfriend when they returned home. The whole way to the station, Julia Jasper keeps up this lie until [music] after several hours they're brought into a proper interrogation room, where things quickly fall apart. But before we move on to the train wreck, be sure to subscribe if you like watching killers like her get caught in their own lies. That's literally all we do here. I was informed that you like to wear my dress. Is that accurate? Cuz I don't want to Um you. Yeah. Um and what are your pronouns, if you don't mind me asking? No, you should go by she. He, okay. Um So, obviously it's been a couple of hours, so you've been with us. I got to read you this thing, um, your rights first, um, and then we can go through everything with you, and figure out what's going on. >> Okay, so Jasper, um, we've been doing I've been doing this job about 28 years now. I've been doing it for a while. And one thing I learned is that everybody that comes in this police department, a lot of them are good people, they just make bad mistakes. Okay? Now, Detective Brown briefed me on what you told her out there on scene. Okay? We went over the crime scene, and some things are not adding up. Okay? And like I said, I've never met you before. And I don't know what's going on in your house. I don't know what you are going through. You know, but I do have a feeling that you have not told us exactly what happened there tonight. All right? And it doesn't make you a bad person because you're it's probably scares you. Okay? This is a tragic event. All right? Okay? When people do things, there's usually a reason why they do it. Okay? One of the things I look for when I talk to people [clears throat] that's in here, one, I try to get the truth. Because good things come out of telling the truth. Cuz when you lie, and we can show that you're lying, it looks like that you have no remorse, or you're hiding something. Okay? But everybody lies at first, they do. It's normal. Okay? But one thing I always try to find out is not just what happened, it's why it happened. Because that's just as It's Because there could be good reason why this happened. Okay? But when you lie, it sounds like you're hiding something. So, I want to start over with tonight. Can we do that? Okay? All right. Now, who all lives at the house? Me and my mom and um Matthew is here a lot. Does he stay with you? Yeah, he usually sleeps over at the house. Okay. Now, I understand his brother lives like next door, right? Okay. And now now I understand he was living with his brother at first, correct? Huh? Yeah. Okay. What happened there? I mean, did he just want to be closer to your mom? That's why he moved in? Or did his brother boot him out? Yeah, his brother kicked him out. Oh, okay. Do you know why? I think my mom said it was because um I think he lost his job and he wasn't able to pay rent anymore, so he was like, he had to go. Okay. All right. So, is he working now? Was he helping your mom out there right now? He was trying to find a job. So, he he didn't have a job at this point. Mhm. Now, I asked you earlier, and I want you to be honest with me. What is how was your relationship with Matthew? Was it good? Was it on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being great, what would you say your relationship with him was? Um maybe like seven. Seven? Cuz it was like it was like whatever, I guess. We didn't really like fight a lot or anything. It was just whatever. Okay. All right. Now, so today, I want to walk have you walk me through your day, all right? So, at some point throughout the day, did your mom and Matthew leave to go somewhere? Yeah, they went um before I woke up, they went to this like I think it was it was a family friend um house having like a party or something and then we went to that. But that was before I even woke up and then they were already back. How did you know they was at the family friend's house if you was sleeping? Cuz my mom told me when she came back. Okay. But when you woke up at 2:00, they was already there. Yeah, they already back. Okay. Cuz the party was like earlier in the day. Okay. Were they drinking? Do you Do you know if Can you tell if your mom and Matthew had any drinking? I don't think they were. Okay. Should have got this phone out. Um So They They're They're back from the party. Okay. What's How's the interaction going on with you and them at this point? Any problems? Any arguments? Any feuds? Whether it was minor minor or or big, just any disagreements? You can tell us. All right. I know maybe tough. Was there any disagreements going on? Me and my mom used to argue a lot. Okay. Today, when you woke up, at some point did you and her get in argument? You mean today? You mean yesterday? Yesterday, yeah. When you woke up. Yeah, I think we had an argument over something. Do you know what the argument was in reference? I think I was just I think I wanted to go to like the party or something and she didn't like me about it and I was mad at her for just going without me, I think. Something along those So, you guys got in a little discussion about that today? Okay. And did you get in a discussion with Matt about it? Did you talk to him about it? No. No. All right. How heated did that argument get? Did you guys end up getting physical with each other at any point? >> No. Okay. Were you just yelling at each other? A bit, I think. Okay. What were you guys saying to each other? Just like frustration about whatever. So, what came of that? Well, she uh I think she took my iPod and my phone, but before she left again, she gave it back so I'd be able to text her. Okay. How much time in between that argument to her leaving again? Like, how long did you not have your iPod? I mean, your I- your iPod. And what was the other thing? It was just the iPod and flip phone. Okay. And how long did you not have that for? I don't know. It wasn't very long in between, I think. It's like 13 minutes, I don't know. So, when you woke up at 2:00, you guys got in this argument. It lasted about how long? About how many minutes do you think this argument lasted? I don't know. Maybe like 20 max. So, they leave you around 7:00. And what are you doing in the house? Just being on the couch, trying to relax, having my Switch. Are you having any thoughts running through your head, any anger moments, anything that's going on while they're gone? Is there anything making you upset or Not really, man. I was just trying to relax. Okay. Do anybody Do you call anybody while you're there? While they're gone? Like are you on the phone? Are you texting people? Are you calling anyone? No. I don't think so. No. I don't remember doing that. Okay. Is there somebody you talk to on a regular basis on the phone? Um That's non-family. No. Okay. So, your phone that you have is basically for you to talk to your family members and the internet. Well, I mean I don't have internet on it. The internet's turned off on it. Oh, okay. Can you access the internet from the switch? No, it doesn't have a web browser. Okay, so it's just literally whatever game you plug into it. Mhm. Okay. And what game were you playing? Um I think I had like Minecraft or Five Nights at Freddy's on it. Nothing like playing a little Five Nights at Freddy's to prepare yourself for the horror that you're about to allegedly unleash. Now, this case isn't like our usual ones. Not just because the suspect is more annoying than usual, but because they laid out every detail of the alleged crime. In reality, while Julia Jasper claims they were playing video games, they were standing in the kitchen with a knife and a gun in hand, emotionally preparing themselves to kill their mother and her boyfriend as soon as they entered the home. And upon their entrance, they raised the gun and said, "Welcome home." Now, keep that in mind as poor, poor Julia Jasper explains the horrors of having their phone taken away. She took your iPod away and your flip phone. Where did she put them? I'm guessing in the lock box, I think. How often did she take those away from you? Um Usually whenever we had an argument or whenever I did something bad. Does she usually take your phone and stuff away at night? Um no. So, you get to keep it typically, unless you got into an argument and you did something bad. What is it that she would say that you do bad that I I see you're putting quotes around it? What is it that that you feel is not necessarily bad that she would get mad at you about? Well, there's just like unfair stuff and then I would like go against it, but then I still get punished for it even though it was unfair in the first place, I felt like. But Is there an example of that? Like, um A lot of the time it starts with like dad and then just being and fighting out about like arguments we had or like other stupid things and he'd be like "Oh, take her iPod away. Take this or take that." And, um, one time he was like, "Take the iPod away." And I didn't want to give it back. So, then he was like "Oh, just take all the chargers out of the house. That'll wear the battery eventually." So, I thought that was unfair cuz I hadn't really done anything wrong in my opinion. And well, me and her would have a lot of arguments about things, especially over like me being trans. So, she'd be like >> Okay. "You're not a real boy." And blah blah blah and all you know, the whole spiel of transphobic stuff. Okay. But She doesn't approve of your of your of your lifestyle that you're She doesn't approve of that. Would you say that she's She was like trying to kind of meet me in the middle, but it wasn't really working all that well all the time. She would try to call me child instead of cuz it's more like gender neutral rather than kind of meeting in the middle, I guess. Okay. So, um I can tell obviously this frustrated you. Is this a root of of a lot of the arguments? Or is it maybe not the root or ends up being brought up in these arguments? It's just a thing that was brought up a lot in arguments. Is she misgendering you? Yeah. So, when you guys are arguing, is she intentionally, you know, calling you she or not using the appropriate pronouns or not referring to you as as Jasper and referring you as Julia? And like actually kind of being like This is going to be kind of vulgar, but she'd be like, "Oh, you have but all that, you know, all that [ __ ] Kind of showing it in my face, and I'd yell back, "I know. You don't think I know that?" Cuz obviously it's kind of painful. No. So, yeah. And Obviously, you experience it in the feminine hormone aspect of things. So, of course you're constantly reminded when it's, you know, that time of the month and stuff like that. So, I can understand the frustration and the annoyance, really, of her trying to remind you when you already know that mentally. You already experienced that on Like I I already beat myself up about it enough. I don't need you doing it, too. Okay. When did, um, you decide that you wanted, um, to transition? It's not really a thing that It's hard to explain. It's kind of like throughout my entire life, I never really thought about I've never really seen myself as a woman, you know? It's kind of like a thing where I just I always tried to like push it away and not think about it because my mom always drilled it into my head that, "Oh, that's not real." And, "Oh, that's bad." And all that stupid. So, I kind of pushed away for a long time until I couldn't anymore, and I started realizing, "Oh, I'm having these thoughts and feelings. Why am I having these constantly?" Until it started just becoming more and more, and then it's like, "Okay, I think that there's something going on here, you know?" So, when would you say it came to like fruition for you? Like, when do you feel like you had your breakthrough moment of when you're like, "Do you know what? This is what I want." I feel best when I identify as a boy. I feel best when I dress this certain way." Like, when do you feel like you came to that? Well, it's kind of a thing that it's hard to explain when the aha moment was because it was like kind of always a thing. Like In the back of your mind? Yeah, it was kind of always a thing in the back of my mind until it kind of snapped in my head that, "Oh, all the puzzle pieces are fitting now and I just denied it for so long cuz I was Trying to be societal norm? Yeah, well, more more trying to fit into my mom's conforms cuz she would always say that, "Oh, they're dumb." And stupid [ __ ] like that. "No, it's not real. Even if you get the surgeries, it's not real." And things like that. Is that something you guys had discussed, getting surgeries and whatnot? A lot, yeah. She'd be like, "Oh, I don't want you to still want a fake like that. Okay. How did your dad How did your dad support you? I don't really talk to him about it. I think my my mom told me that she told him once, but he never talked to me about it. He still I think I talked to him once. Um after he find like found out I was trans and um I don't really think he respects it either cuz he would say, "Wow, it's crazy you're a grown woman now." So, it's It's thrown in your face. >> Yeah, I don't I don't know if he was trying to do that or if it just slipped his mind, but I have a feeling he doesn't really take me seriously about it. Okay. And you felt that same way about your mom? Yeah, I mean I would always try and remind her that this isn't a phase. It's something It's who I am and I can't change that. Right. Can't change your feelings and your emotions. And you know, you're human. You're You're allowed to have those. It's a human behavior to have. How did Matthew feel about it? Um I mean, I I talked to him about it. He would kind of just be confused when Mom would call me like Jasper a few times or whatever and then he'd be like, "What?" But I guess he just kind of He never really called me by my name. He just called me like Hey, you. Yeah, hey you. Kind of like that. He never really like said my name, but >> So, yeah. Um I never really talked to him about it or anything. He didn't really have any problems with him as far as like misgendering or intentionally digging at you? No, he never Okay. >> Me and him didn't really talk a lot, so thing. We like We're like kind of peaceful, but like Coexisting. Co- coexisting, that's the word. We weren't friends, but like we weren't necessarily enemies, either. It's kind of just whatever. Okay. I think we had a few like falling outs, but that's about it. What would those be over? Um It's kind of my fault cuz it would be me getting angry about something and me kind of being a bit rude to him and then he obviously didn't like that, so it was a little bit I don't know. It was Again, stupid stuff. Investigators ask about Matthew, her mother's boyfriend, who she had an incredibly strained relationship with. Did he ever try to like parent you? Um no, not really. He never really tried to be like dad or anything. He just kind of was like hands-off, you know, cuz He's just a couple years older than you, right? Yeah. How do you feel about that? Oh, I didn't like it. Um I mean that's I don't really support their relationship so thing. So, I think that's the only kind of like tension that there was between us because it would always be kind of awkward when it was just me and him in the house because we wouldn't say [ __ ] to each other. >> Yeah. Cuz it's kind of like I don't really want you here and it was kind of obvious cuz I didn't support their relationship at all. Would you vocalize that to to him or at least around him? Well, he knew. I mean, Based on conversation with mom or you? I mean, I would just say it. Like I wouldn't really care. Like I wasn't afraid to say it and I think I made it pretty obvious that I didn't want him around. Okay. Um so, what is it You said you just say it. What is it? Like what would you say? Just like I don't even want him here stuff. Probably when I'm talking to mom it's just loud enough for him to hear. Cuz I think me and her had an argument once where it was like um I don't even want him here and blah blah and she's like oh, you're old enough now. Just deal with it. Yeah, so. So, you didn't So, you don't really approve of Matthew's relationship with your mom. No. I mean, I put up with it. That's the right word for it. When's the last time you vocalized that? Um I don't remember. It's been a while. I think I just gave up saying it because it didn't change anything. I got you. So, these these incidents where you where you ran away, what were those arguments stemming from? I guess just all the arguments between my mom just kind of piling up to where it was enough was enough, I guess. Anything circulating or because of how you felt about their relationship? You said you vocalized that you didn't like it. Did that have anything to do with why you ran away? Him being in the house, you not wanting him there? Yeah, I guess that was part of it. Okay. Um do you remember what really you guys were saying to each other those days that you had a you had decided to run away? Me or who? Either of them. No, just be like arguments over stupid stuff and little things. But Well, not little things if you know, you went to the extent of leaving, right? Yeah. So, they must have been big things to you at the time at least. May seem little now, but they were big then. What what kind of things were those? They were just like stupid things like how I don't feel respected or like this or that and feeling like this house is a prison and things like that. Is it because he was there? Is it because of rules you had? Both. Okay. So, you felt like before he moved in, did you feel like you were in a prison? Not really. It was kind of me and my mom only really started arguing more when he came around. The fact that Matthew was 22 was a much bigger issue than Julia Jasper is claiming here. In their eventual confession, they stated that the two main reasons for allegedly killing Matthew and their mother was because they didn't like Matthew due to his age and they were tired of being misgendered. I was just going to go through everything. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, so basically um I was playing I was on my switch or something and I remember I was doing something on it and I look over and the door the back door wasn't locked cuz when we lock it, um it has like this little silver pin that you put in this thing and it keeps it from opening. It wasn't locked and Is it closed or It was closed. >> Okay, but the pin wasn't in. Mhm. Okay. So, it wasn't locked. >> And then I'll When I told you yesterday, I saw a guy coming up to my window. I knew that I knew from before seeing it there was a hammer by the back of the glass, so I don't know. I just I guess my like survival instincts or something kicked in and I like just immediately grabbed both my dogs. And you know that there's the big dog and the little dog, so I can only focus my energy on getting the both of them into my room and hiding. So, I had them in my room, right? And the dogs are barking and whatever cuz you know, um Why are the dogs barking? Well, cuz they see someone at the glass door. And they usually they'll bark at like the mailman coming up. They'll bark at literally anything. Yeah. They bark if the front door opens. Normal dog things. Yeah. Okay. Go ahead. I'm sorry. I'm just recollecting. >> Yeah. I understand. It's remarkable. I I like can't even imagine. So, when he shows up, is your parents there yet? Your mom and Matthew there yet? No, they're still out. But do you see him? I mean, I didn't really get a good look at him. I just saw a person and I I don't know. I just kind of had this like survival {slash} panic thing where I just wanted to hide. I don't know. When you Yeah, so in the back of my mind I knew that was out there and I knew that you could break the glass with it if he didn't know that the door was unlocked. So, um So, I knew that either way he could get in whether he figured out it was unlocked or if he broke the glass. So, I just knew that I had to get out of that situation, but Why didn't you just run out the house? I don't know. I just I didn't know if there was more of them or if there was some out front or what was happening, but I guess I just I don't know. I just felt like I needed to hide in my room and just Did he try to So, you go to your room? Mhm. Is the dogs with you? Yeah, I Okay. Do you shut the door? Your bedroom door? Huh? Yeah. Okay. So, what do you hear next after that? Well, I hide and then I'm just sitting there hiding. The dogs are barking and like And then I hear the glass shatter and come in. So, I knew that it's probably him coming in and um But, this door was unlocked. That's what you're saying, but he He didn't know that, I don't think. Okay. Um I don't think he even bothered to try and see if it was unlocked. Um yeah, the glass shatters in and um I just like try and listen and see if he's like coming towards my door or where he's going, but I hear him like walking around and stuff and just kind of So, you're saying him. So, are you Do you know that Does this guy look like a male? The suspect Does he look like a male? I don't know. I'm just assuming. To just assume someone's gender. Julia Jaspers ridiculous story continues, but the reality of what happened is even more so. After shooting Matthew and her mother and stabbing Matthew, Julia Jasper ran through the crime scene smashing windows and locking the door in an attempt to stage a crime scene. So you go in the room, you can hear him in the living room like moving around the house? Yeah, I can like hear him walking around Did he see you? I wasn't entirely sure. I think I don't know. Did he ever come up to your bedroom door? Might have gotten close, but he never like wiggled the door handle or anything cuz the dogs were still barking like crazy. I don't think I'm thinking that he didn't want to come in the room because there was barking dogs and you don't know if they're going to like bite you or attack you or whatever, I guess. Okay. And what happens next? After a while he was walking around, I could hear him like doing something and then there's like a lot of like banging and I hear like wood cracking and stuff. I think he I think he kicked down the door to my mom's room cuz she used to keep it locked, right? So I think he kicked that down. Okay. So what what sound did you hear that made you believe that he kicked the door down? Cuz there's just like banging noises and kind of like wood splintering noises like the door frame was getting like busted in. Okay. All right. So then you hear that noise and then what? Kind of like him moving around some more and stuff and So, what do you mean by that? What are you hearing that suggests that? Just like just kind of like footsteps, I guess. Throughout the house? Yeah. Okay. How long do you hear that go on for? I'm not exactly sure about the time, but it just felt like forever. Okay. Like I said, I explained earlier time is really important. So, I need you to do a really you know, really try hard to think about how long these things were lasting, these events were taking place. When this is going on, do you have your cell phone with you in your room? No, I don't have time to grab the dogs. Okay. Where's your cell phone at at this point? I think I left it on the couch. Okay. Do you guys have a hard line at the house? Like a like a house phone? Yeah. No. Okay. Okay. So, how long is he in this house before I mean, at some point do your parents come home? Okay. Now, when you hear him walking around the house, does it sound like he's by himself? Yeah, I think I only heard one set of footsteps. Okay. All right. So, at some point and like I said, take the brown, it's important. We're trying to find out how long was he in the house before your mom came home. About how long? Just approximately. Maybe like an hour-ish. I don't About an hour or something? I don't know. Okay. So, you hear the door open? Do you hear the car pull up when they pull up in the car? I don't think I heard the car, but I heard the door open. Okay. Okay, so you hear the door open. Is that front door locked or do you is it unlocked? Do you know? We usually keep it locked. Okay. What made you know that it was them that was walking home or walking in the door? Hm? How did you know it was them walking through the door? I don't know. I guess I just assumed cuz I think I heard their voices or kind of I couldn't say like tell what they were saying but it was sounding like kind of sounded like that so I assumed it was them. Could you hear what they were saying? No, I couldn't make out what they were saying but I could like Recognize their voice? Okay. So how long do you hear them talking for? Sorry, I just Let me Um It wasn't uh very long. It was like maybe a few seconds or something like that when they were saying whatever it is they were saying. Okay. And then what? And that's what I heard um And that's what I heard um the loud like banging that I assumed was like gun shots or something and yelling. Who was yelling? I think I think Matthew was yelling. And what was he yelling? I don't know. It was just like you know, like I said yesterday, it's just people yelling when they're scared. Just I Like yelling, "Stop. Don't do that. Don't hurt me." I don't know what was he yelling. I think it was something along the lines of like stop or something. Okay. So, you hear Matthew yelling that. Do you hear your mom yelling at all? No. Okay. So, you hear yelling and then what? What was this? What was that? I don't know. Um After the loud noises and the fighting, it just got it just got really quiet. So, what do you mean by loud noises? I think it was gun shots. And what makes you think that? Cuz it was like banging, like the sound of gun shots, I think. The problem with staging a crime after it happens is that, well, it becomes pretty clear forensically that it was staged. Like the fact that blood was beneath the shattered glass from the supposed break-in and in several other places that indicated that the staging occurred after the murders. Then there's the pesky security camera. So, what do you do after that? After you decide to come out? Do you decide to come out? Okay. And what do you do when you come out? And what do you see? >> Um when I actually um came out I um first thing I saw was blood on the ground. Outside your bedroom door? Okay. Then what did you see next? I don't know. I looked to the left and that's when I saw um Matthew on the ground. Okay. And where is he at? Is he In the bathroom. The bathroom where I walked around a lot cuz I was kind of panicking and kind of like trying to understand what was happening cuz it was a lot of >> [snorts] >> blood and And actually this when you saw Matt in the bathroom, did you go over to him or did you just look at him? I didn't touch him though. Okay. So you just looked at him. What he means is did you enter the bathroom or did you did you stand in the hallway? I think I did go in the bathroom cuz I was looking around and stuff. I kind of like went in and and just kind of went to a bunch of different rooms cuz Did it look like he was breathing when you looked into the bathroom? Matt? I think I could hear him faintly like he's like gurgling. Okay. Now now you said you didn't touch him or anything, right? No, I don't remember doing anything. So, what did you do after that? I just walked around the house and looked cuz I wanted to know what was happening and What did you walk through after that after you left that bathroom? It's all kind of work. So, I was like rushing around, but I think um I think I went to um the living room around there. Kind of I kind of went like a circle and then kind of like backtracked to see if anything was stolen and all that. Do you see your mom at any point? Huh? And where is your mom at? She's by the dinner table. After I kind of spent walk around the place kind of freaking out. Um I went back into the living room and my phone was still on like the couch. So, that's that's why I grabbed it and called 911. And where were you at when you called 911 at the house? My living room. And did you stay in the living room till the police showed up? Mhm. You did? Now, um So, I think this is tough for you. Okay? Um to be quite honest with you, we don't believe that this is how this happened, all right? All right. We've looked over this crime scene and there's things in this crime scene that's not adding up with what you're saying. Now, listen. If you had If you did something in there tonight, and if there was a reason why you did it, okay? If there was a reason why you did it, we would like to know that. Okay? Cuz I don't believe the story about someone coming into the house. Okay? There's evidence that's shows that We looked at your surveillance camera. Okay? We don't see nobody coming through that back door. Okay? We looked at your surveillance camera. We see your parents coming home through the front door. Okay? We see bloody footprints inside the uh the dining room area in front of the rear sliding glass door underneath the glass. That blood should be on top of the glass. Okay? So, like I told you, I don't live at your house. I don't know what's going on in that house. But if you had to do something today that you thought you needed to do, would you give me a chance to tell us that? Like I told you before, everybody that comes in this room, the first thing they do is lie. That's normal. Because they're scared. They don't know what's going to happen. I'm fair. She's fair. We want to know what happened. Not just what happened, why it happened. You know? Tell us what happened. I'll match you straight up, okay? Are you the reason why Did you hurt your parents today, your mom and Matthew? And if you did, was there a reason why you had to do it? Because we want to know what happened. We want to know if you did this, we want to know what caused you to do this. There got to be a good reason. You expressed to us you know, your frustrations with the misgendering you, the not accepting you, understanding you. And those are all valid and human nature, you know, I'd be upset if someone was you know, calling me something that I'm not or calling me a name that I'm not or calling me a boy and I very clearly identify as a girl, you know, that would that would offend me. That would as it would offend him if someone called him a girl. I'm sure that would make him feel some type of way, too. And it's perfectly valid for you to feel that way. But at the end of the day, you know, we are here. This is reality. He just laid out to you the things aren't adding up. And if there's something that took place between you guys and and some sort of argument and they came at you or whatever the case may be, that's your story and that's your side to tell. But And and whatever you tell us, we're going to try to confirm that, you know? So like I said, we want you to tell us what happened. Because we may have to go back out to the crime scene and look at it a different way. All right? Okay, Julia? Okay. Did you hurt your mom and Matthew today? I just really know this is really hard for you. But you got to be honest with us. And and and you don't want this following you around for the rest of your life. Okay? You don't need need This is something you need to You should want to get off your chest. Because I can tell it's bothering you. Something happened horrible in that house that caused you to react this way. What happened? And this time be honest. Hey, Julia. Look up. Look at me. I'm not here to judge you. I'm not saying you're a bad person at all. Okay? I I I told you I have no idea what's going on in that house. Well, tell us what happened. And not just what happened, why did it happen? Let's go with them coming home. When they walked through the door, tell me what happened. >> [snorts] >> Theoretically speaking, let's say what you're saying that it was theoretically speaking, let's say that it was me, right? What So, you guys I'm going to be honest with you. It's not really theoretical at this point. Everything he just stated to you is is is telling us that something happened that you're not telling us, right? So, you're basically saying that I'm the culprit. Well, I'm not saying that at all. But, evidence shows us on surveillance cameras, it shows them walking into the house. It shows nobody in the backyard. It shows nobody breaking into the house. The way the camera's angled >> 100% but someone would Someone would be seen either hopping the fence, coming around the fence, whatever. And you know that. You know that the camera is angled a certain way. You know that you can walk out that sliding glass door and go undetected. Julia Jasper allegedly believed that avoiding the security camera would absolve them of their crime, but in reality, their avoidance of the camera is what sealed their fate. Because knowing where a house camera is in order to avoid it, that's teen behavior if I've ever heard it. So, the only thing that that makes sense in this instance here is that if this random person that you're saying came up to the back sliding glass door would have had to known that there was something to break the door. They would have had to come into the house and known that there was firearms inside the house, ammunition inside the house to use to then kill your mom and Matthew for what reason? And then not only that >> did they ever go to your door? And if you think he's worried about some dogs and he has a gun, he ain't worried about no dogs. Okay? So, that that didn't make sense right there. All right? Now, you was just about to say, "What if it was you that did this?" I'm saying theoretically. >> Okay. So, theoretically what? >> What? You said that get it off your chest and whatever, but it's like that just that's not how that works. It's Of course. Of course. Of course it's not going to it's it's not going to go away that quick. It's not. But, you gives us a reason cuz other people going to look at this interview. And and they going to want to know, is this a monster over here or is this somebody who made a terrible mistake? Who's the other >> giving you a chance. Everybody that comes in here, we give them a chance to tell us what really happened. Okay? It shows remorse and it also shows that this is something that they probably ain't going to ever do again. All right? So, it's the ball I mean, you're there. Tell us what happened. Did either Matthew or your mom did Matthew or your mom, any one of them try to do anything to you when they came home? Huh? No. Okay. So, what happened? And why? Where are you at in the house when they get home? Cuz we know what you were not in your bedroom. I don't understand how you can say that I knew I was not in my bedroom. How would you know that? So, your bedroom door was closed, correct? At the time this incident took place. The way that the blood spatter is is projecting suggests that maybe that wasn't the the exact case. It could have been closed, but maybe not all the way. Like you're saying it was locked. Well, I mean I couldn't lock it. The lock is reversed on the door. Okay. So, where were you at when they arrived home? We are giving you this opportunity to express to us what happened, why it happened, what emotions you were feeling at the time that led you to this, right? We're all human. I've been explaining that this whole time. As a human to another human or outsiders looking in can know that yeah, that that [ __ ] would trigger me, too. Or if it was self-defense, yeah, of course I would defend myself, too. Anybody's going to look at it that way. But when we don't hear from you what took place, we have to go off what the evidence is showing us. And we have to paint the picture and tell the story for you. That's why we want you and are giving you the opportunity to tell us the story yourself. You made a comment earlier about silence being really loud. It's happening right now. And even though you're not saying it with your mouth, your silence is saying it as loud. That make sense? Did you shoot your parents? Your your mom and Matthew? >> Julia. I thought that Jasper. Jasper, right. Did you shoot your your mom and Matthew today? Well, you're basically saying that I did, so do you even need my answer? Well, we want you, like I said, we want you to tell us what happened. And tell us why. We've given you this opportunity to tell us what went on, what was going on to make you do this. Due to Julia Jaspers age and the fact that this case has yet to go to trial, the actual confession, as it has been labeled by the police department, was redacted from this footage. So, unfortunately, all we can tell you is that as of the publishing of this video, Julia has been indicted on two counts of first-degree premeditated murder. Her trial is upcoming, which means that despite her confession, she is innocent until proven guilty.
