On November 20th, 2023, a routine patrol on Interstate 430 turned tense when Trooper Killian noticed a black Ford Mustang behaving just a little too carefully. A defective headlight and suspicious lane drifting quickly escalated into something far more serious once the driver refused to cooperate. >> [groaning] >> By the time the pursuit ended, Clifton Lemon Thomas had been pulled from the wreckage with severe injuries and rushed to Baptist Health in Little Rock. He later faced charges including felony fleeing, causing serious physical injury, second-degree battery, and reckless driving among several traffic violations. Investigators also noted this was not his first attempt at running from law enforcement, adding another layer to an already chaotic night. Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, an afternoon in Conway took a sharp turn when officers spotted a brown Ford Explorer refusing to stop despite clear signals. What raised even more concern was not just the flight, but who was inside the vehicle. Call the driver out. Get the driver out. Get the driver out. DON'T MOVE. >> [screaming] >> ONCE IT WAS OVER, THE DRIVER, identified as Desean Jones, was taken into custody after a brief struggle and formally advised of his rights. He now faced charges tied to fleeing and resisting arrest. Authorities confirmed there were seven occupants inside, including four juveniles, turning what could have been a routine stop into a case involving endangerment and poor judgment. December 8th, 2021 began with a stolen vehicle alert that quickly turned into a high-speed situation on a Florida highway. Instead of closing in immediately, troopers opted for a quieter but calculated approach to keep track of the suspect. Keep hitting him. Show me your hands. They were sitting 14 11 49 fitted to vehicle on Highway Franklin. In the end, the driver was taken into custody without major public harm after officers re-engaged under safer conditions. The suspect faced charges related to vehicle theft and fleeing law enforcement. The case stood out less for chaos and more for strategy, showing how timing can matter just as much as speed. On December 31st, 2022, a speeding gray Honda Accord caught the attention of a Georgia State Patrol Trooper on GA 14. What started as a simple speed check quickly spiraled when the driver chose acceleration over accountability. Taking her right on 75. Contact Bush Pond. Travel max out 41. The driver identified as Taron Campbell was taken to Troop County Jail after being subdued and detained. He admitted he fled because he did not have a valid license. He ultimately faced charges including fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, and driving without a valid license turning what could have been a warning into a much heavier outcome. On December 17th, 2023, a white U-Haul van ran a red light in Tavernier, Florida setting off immediate concern for Trooper R. Valenzuela. The driver later identified as Osmani Gonzalez made it clear he had no intention of stopping. After medical evaluation and further investigation, Gonzalez was formally charged with driving under the influence, felony fleeing and eluding, and possession of cocaine with intent to sell or manufacture. His condition and statements at the hospital only reinforced what officers suspected from the start. This was not just reckless driving but impairment behind the wheel. September 24th, 2023, a stolen sport utility vehicle in Hillsborough County turned into a persistent problem as Florida Highway Patrol units tried to bring it under control. The driver showed no signs of backing down even as more units joined the effort. Get out of THE CAR NOW. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND NOW. EVENTUALLY, THE SUSPECT WAS TAKEN into custody after the vehicle was disabled. Charges included possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing law enforcement. Authorities later confirmed the occupants were juveniles adding another layer of concern to an already dangerous situation. February 22nd, 2024, a stolen big rig rolling through Southern California highways quickly drew attention for all the wrong reasons. What made it worse was the driver's refusal to stop despite visible mechanical deterioration. LA Metro going by at the same time. Looking at the cab of this trailer now, pretty dark in there. It's hard to tell if there's anybody else with this driver, if the driver's just alone there. As we kind of drift over to the left side now, drifting into the car pool lane. It does appear almost as if this drifting is unintentional. As we're drifting a little bit closer to that center median. That's a little too close for comfort, I would say. And now we're we drift a little bit back into that number one lane. As we see another CHP unit speed up and probably they're going to take the lead on this pursuit. So, they're going to hand over this pursuit to a different CHP division that will be able to take this into San Bernardino County. What is that? Oh, the big rig coming up on another night big rig down there in the slow lane. Coming right up behind him and then swerving into the middle lane to get around him. Like we've said in these situations uh I've never driven one of these trucks, but from what I've [snorts] seen, from what I've heard, they all have uh CB radios. They all have the ability to stay in contact with uh one another. So, I'm wondering if that's the case, if there's any uh communication going on. We we have been hearing that S word. That means spike strips. There's one There's one and I saw it go across the freeway. It's hard to see if it actually made impact on those uh tires, but it does appear it does appear that a couple of the tires here were hit by those spike strips. We saw that uh CHP officer lay down the spike strips. We saw him pull it back. And now it appears that a couple of the tires here have been flattened by those spike strips. Looks like a little bit of smoke. Oh, there's some smoke from the left front tire. It does appear that that that that left front tire is going down. We got a lot of smoke coming out from that tire. As we're on the 210 Eastbound passing Mountain, this driver doing a surprising job as we're hearing from CHP uh saying both front tires are flat. CHP's telling us both front tires are flat. And now we're seeing a little bit of swerving up to the right. There's some sparks coming now. Sparks from the left tire. A little bit more swerving from this driver, swerving over to the right shoulder. Still on the gas, it appears. Not giving any intention that this driver is going to stop. A lot more sparks coming from that uh front tire. And a lot more smoke coming from that front tire. That tire is going to be gone before you know it. As you see the debris and there goes the bumper. There goes the whole tire. The tire is gone. And now we're on the rims. When that happens well, we've Even with all of these sparks and clear signs of fire this driver's continuing to plow northbound on the 210 Eastbound through Rancho Cucamonga. This truck is completely on fire. Now we're coming to a stop. We're seeing that fire start to spread to the cab. If we can we'll bring Air 7 HD to the front of the vehicle. Is he out? Is he out? There he is. The driver's out. He's climbing the fence. Stay on this side if we if if we can talk. Don't get any further south. We see this driver struggling to climb up the hill. That's a good sign because it means that uh CHP doesn't have to deal with rescuing the suspect. Let's see if we can go a little bit north because of the sound wall there. Continuing southbound. He's continuing southbound on one of the surface streets here. And that CHP air unit still has eyes on that suspect. He's continuing on foot. Possibly running out of breath, jumping over a fence there onto a private property, into a home, maybe. Looks like a condo complex. Hopefully CHP gets eyes on this guy shortly. I see one CHP officer on foot a little further down the road. And we see this guy now. This is the suspect. Stay on this side. Perfect. Perfect. The air unit still has eyes on this suspect. It looks like he's out of breath, just kind of walking through the neighborhood. And hopefully these CHP officers can get to this guy uh before he can cause any more trouble. Pursuit now and another CHP officer closing in. This CHP officer looks like he has a lot more steam left in him, but that suspect still does, too. He's going to continue on one of the surface streets here at this town home complex. A lot of trees in this area. We're uh going to move Air 7 HD around to get you the best angle. Hopefully we see the suspect pop out on the other side here. And there he is. There he is. The suspect popping out onto the sidewalk. You see that one officer right behind him and it looks like he made a tackle right behind the tree. And hopefully we will see the conclusion of this pursuit very shortly here. We see one officer on scene. Another officer on scene. The suspect was eventually located hiding in a nearby residential area and taken into custody by California Highway Patrol.
