She chose a path that made the situation considerably more complicated. >> Can you roll it down? What's up? >> You're going the wrong way on Second Street and then you also hit a curb and popped both your door both your tires on this side. How much alcohol have you had tonight? >> Nothing. >> So why are you slurring? I'm not slurping. >> Go ahead and step out of the vehicle for me. Okay. >> Just because you said I slurred, there's no reason. >> So, you're refusing to get out of the vehicle. >> 25 Metro 2011 refusing to get out of the vehicle. Slurring her words. The case involved allegations of impaired driving refusal to comply with lawful commands and obstruction related offenses stemming from her conduct during the stop. Late one evening, an Arkansas State Police trooper noticed a silver Toyota wandering across the roadway and nearly colliding with both a pedestrian and a large truck. The driver's explanation only raised more questions as the roadside encounter unfolded. West 65th Arkansas 664 silver Toyota. >> Hello. >> Hey, I'm Trooper Duncan with the Arkansas State Police. Rather than continuing his trip, authorities pursued charges related to driving while intoxicated, refusing to comply with arrest procedures and other offenses connected to the incident. On August 23rd, 2025, a woman in Ohio was pulled over for traffic violations that ordinarily would have ended with little more than paperwork. Instead, her hostility toward the stop turned a citation into a much larger criminal investigation. >> Hello Take that flashlight off of me. >> No. My name is Officer Smith Police Department. Reason for the stop. >> One, you were flying down Vernon ODM. You had a marked lanes violation at Vernon ODM and Malison and then you made an improper turn when you turned on the roads here. You turned to the middle lane. You didn't turn to the inside lane. >> Man, get my license. And here, get my ticket cuz you not about to get on my nerves. Give me my ticket, please. Thank you. >> We We ask everybody this with the new fireballs. Don't have any firearms in the vehicle or on you. >> Ticket. Is there any firearms in the vehicle? >> No, it's not. >> Okay. >> Give me my ticket, please. And have a good night. >> I will. And I will. Don't you worry. >> Okay. You don't got nothing to search for. Ain't nothing in here. >> This is not a search. >> Give me my ticket, please. >> You can wait a second. >> No, I cannot. I got somewhere to go. Give me my ticket. Like I said, cuz that's all you. >> How long have you been a police officer for? >> How long have you been what? >> Years. >> Yeah. You can never have been cuz you know I know my rights. So I said get my ticket. I was about to ask you to get out. >> Okay. What What law school did you go to? >> Run that ticket and give me my ticket and have a good night. >> I'm glad I'm in this mother city. Where you going? >> None of y'all business. >> Fair. >> That's fine. >> Don't pull me over for no reason. Lot of cars flying down the mother. >> It was a Mark Lane violation. >> Mark Lane's my ass. Guess what? This case will be thrown out now. Go hurry up and ride my ticket. >> You got to get out of the vehicle. >> Give me my license. >> I will once you get out of the vehicle. >> No, I don't have to. Give me my license. >> You do? Cuz we're towing the vehicle. The play card. No car. Signal five. She's taking off from stop. >> Stand by. Signal. >> She turned eastbound on Thoron. We're trying to catch up to her. Lane violation and then also tire plate. She took off once. She said we're going to the vehicle. We're still trying to catch up to her. Speeds are going to be 40. Looks like she's about to strike down the highway here. 76. >> All right, we just got on the highway. We're going to get off the next exit. We're no longer pursuing. >> I had a feeling she was going to do that. >> Shut your ass up. Don't even come over here talking. >> You're going to get your ticket. Your car's going to get towed. I don't give a >> ser. >> Oh, I will. >> What she said? >> I'll spit on you. >> Oh, yeah. It's great. >> Yeah, we're Everything's good. >> Just uh don't follow her steps and run from the police. That's This is what happens. Don't run from the police. That's the day >> on traffic stops. A simple traffic stop. Don't do that. >> Violation marked lane. She crossed over the lane. I can hear you. Her license plates expired. She decided back there. I know, but she's a close. >> So, she got pulled over. She runs >> and then decided to fight us when we got here at her house. So, you're going to jail tonight. Try to fight us. >> You guys are good. right here that I pul that pulled me over tomorrow. This right here pulled me over. >> Yep, I did. >> Hey, they tried to car my window down. >> Nope. >> I know. She's under arrest. She is not being cooperative. So, no one's talking to her. You guys can sit in your truck and wait. If she calms down, I'll let you talk to her. But right now, nobody's talking to her. >> After officers located her at a residence, she was taken into custody following another confrontation. She ultimately faced charges that included fleeing and eluding resisting arrest and offenses connected to the original traffic violations that triggered the stop. During an evening traffic stop in Arkansas, a driver was pulled over for speeding and defective license plate lights. A simple request to step out of the vehicle became the spark for a lengthy argument about authority rights and compliance. >> Hey man, >> going bar state police, I pulled you over for two reasons. Okay. Yes, sir. >> One, it's cuz you're speeding. And two, it's cuz the lights over your license plate >> Mhm. >> aren't working. >> Okay. It's your license proof of insurance. >> Um I'm my proof of insurance pull out my window whenever I have my windows down. >> Okay. Do you have insurance in the vehicle? >> No, sir. I do not. >> Okay. So, and why would you need proof of insurance if you don't have insurance on the vehicle? >> Wait. Oh, no. No. I So, I'm sorry. I have proof of insurance. >> Okay. All right. Do me a favor. Step out of the car real quick for me. >> Uh for what reason? cuz I need you to step out. >> For what reason? >> Are you going to step out? >> Uh, I'm just I'm just curious on >> my guy. I need you to step out of the vehicle. >> Listen to me. Step out of the vehicle >> for I'm just >> Get out of the vehicle. >> What reason? >> Listen to me. You can get out of the vehicle on your own. We just can go south real quick. You understand? I need you to step out of the vehicle. What is your uh >> step out of the vehicle, >> my guy? Get out of the vehicle. >> Can Can I just >> get out of the vehicle, dude? >> Step out of the vehicle, my guy. >> Get out here. Trans beind your back. >> Please, Nate, don't take my phone. I have every right to record. What? Okay. Okay. What's the reason for the arrest? Why am I be playing? Why am I being placed in a handcuff? >> You're refusing to exit the vehicle. >> I'm just >> So, right now, you're being maintained. >> Why do you need me out of the vehicle? >> Because I've asked you to step out. >> That's okay. All right. >> That's the only real explanation that you need right now. Is this how uh >> listen to me >> Arkansas State Police does it? >> Yeah. So, listen to me. All right. How much you had a drink tonight? >> I haven't had anything to drink. Go ahead and put breath out. >> Okay. I plan to do that here in a minute. Okay. So, check it out. What's the purpose of you not listening to the instructions, >> man? Don't get out of here with that. I'm done. Do whatever you need to do. >> Okay, that's fine. Sit down right there. Sit down. >> It's ridiculous. >> It is pretty ridiculous. It is very ridiculous that you're acting like a child right now. >> I'm not acting like a child. is exactly what you're acting like. >> Go home and >> and you would have been on your way if you don't sit there and act like a child and that's really what it boils down to. So >> I think it's an ego trip. I think classic NLR classic Arkansas State Police ego one by number please subject and vehicle. >> Yeah. I'm just off on university just off of uh 6:30. All right. So, it is the subject right person had a run before. >> CFS received. Is that a sharewood? Is that what that arrest was for? accident. I don't know what this is. He had something to 23, but I have no idea what that is. >> I did tell you my name if you've been listening. That's the first thing I said. Actually, >> so you can hear me. >> Talking through an intercom is not any different than normal. How is this not normal? >> Okay. How is the speech any different? >> Bro, the longer we sit here and talk, the longer this is going to take. If you let me do my work, then we can get out of here sooner. Okay? So, if you want to sit and have a conversation, we can do that. Or I can get done with this. You can be on your way. How's that sound? Does that sound pretty good? All right. Sounds good. Yes, you have to think through things logically. >> I'm sitting here talking to you. You're the one that yanked me on my car and put me in handcuffs, >> right? Screaming. Think of the logic. >> Make things easy for you. I can make things hard for you. >> Think of the logic through it. Think of the logic through it. Okay? Look at step one. Look at your actions and think to yourself, am I the product of my own actions? Am I the product of Am I the going through the consequences of my own actions? The answer is yes. Okay? So, just think about that for a little while. >> Okay? All right. >> You ready? You what? >> Why you have blood on your hood? >> What are you talking about? >> Right there. >> It's not blood. >> What are you [ __ ] man? >> Does that look like blood to you in a straight line like that? It's pretty dark. I mean, it could. Yeah, dude. Hey, I've seen a lot of blood, man. I'm just saying that could be a spider. You know, >> that's not how spiders work. >> You just took a poor brother's head and hit it on the hood. I can see you doing that. >> I don't think you understand how spiders work. >> No, I do. I'm saying. >> Okay. Well, that's paint, man, my guy. So, you can call blood all you want, but All right. So, listen, man. All right. So, you're being cited for three things. Okay. 78 to 65 or 78, 60. I wrote 65 on accident. Should have been 60. Yeah. So, right now, you're getting you're getting a ticket for speed. Listen me. You're getting a ticket for speeding. >> Wait, what was it? 78 and a 60. I wrote 65. Eh, going to give you a break either way. It should have been 60 cuz speed limit up there 60, but 78 and a 60. Uh, your tail lights over there and obstruction. >> When did you hit me for going? >> Well, 78. >> Okay. Yeah. >> And it's when you went over the hill and then when I went to catch up to you, you were still doing 75. >> You slowed down a lot. I'll give you that. When you saw me, you slowed down. >> When I passed you, I was >> That's fine. That's something you can tell somebody else. That's fine. >> All right. >> However, you passed me doing that when I was catching up to you. I still had You were still doing 75 to catch up to me. >> You were doing 75. >> How fast did you have to go? I was doing >> I don't know how fast I was going. I used my radar to see you. >> 75 around that corner on a donut. You're >> okay. When I caught up to you when you were on 6:30. >> Listen to me. Are you going to listen or you just going to sit there and talk and keep you happening? >> I'm going to do whatever the I want to do. Can you get me out of these, please? >> My guy. Oh my god. You're Listen, my guy. I I do want to get you out of these cuffs cuz I want to get you out of here cuz I am tired of talking to you, my guy. You are the biggest child I've met. You mean you got me in cuffs for no reason? >> It's not no reason. You got yourself these cuffs and you're being charged with obstruction for it. >> For what? Get out of the vehicle. Yep. >> Really? Obstruction charges. I try to explain to you, but just keep talking. >> Okay. >> All right. Are you ready to listen now? Are you ready to listen? Okay. So, at the top's the ticket number. The middle is what it's for. There's three things on there, like I said. One's for speeding, one's for the tail lights, one's for obstruction. Okay, at the bottom court time and the phone number Rock District Court July 14th at 8:30 a.m. [snorts] You have any questions about any of those things? >> You going to be there? >> I'm not going to be in that one. I'll be at a different one if you choose to go to that one. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> All right. >> Any questions? >> All right. Next time, be smart. Do >> the Lord's work. >> Next time, be smart. >> Yes, sir. Do the Lord's work. >> You have a You have a fantastic night. All right. By the end of the encounter, the driver received citations for speeding, defective lighting equipment, and obstruction. What could have been a quick roadside conversation instead became a prolonged stop because of his refusal to follow instructions. January 26th, 2023 saw Arkansas State Police attempt to stop a Kia Sport utility vehicle after observing multiple traffic violations. Rather than pull over, the driver repeatedly tried to outmaneuver troopers and avoid capture. >> 104 passing prep road about 125 I'm about to hate wherever he's trying to pit. Y'all take the exit. He took the exit. That's him. [screaming] >> See those hands. I see hands. YOU BETTER [screaming] PUT THEM HANDS UP. HANDS. HANDS. You see any movement? >> No, the wipers are on. Airbags are >> here. SAY POLICE CANINE. COME OUT [screaming] WITH YOUR HEADS IN THE AIR OR YOU WILL BE BIT BY THE DOG. OH. SAY POLICE CANINE. [screaming] COME OUT WITH YOUR HEADS IN THE AIR. YOU WILL BE BIT BY A DOG. >> He can gravel me. He's >> No, he's only one. >> O over here. Yeah. Not over there. >> His day will be run permanently. Sit down. That was stupid. >> After being taken into custody, the driver was advised of his rights and questioned about possible injuries from the crash. The incident resulted in criminal charges tied to the pursuit and the driver's efforts to evade law enforcement. Monday, January 30th, 2023, an Arkansas State Police trooper noticed a gray Hyundai Elantre and immediately found himself dealing with a driver who had no intention of staying put. Before emergency lights were even activated, the vehicle accelerated away on rain slick roads. Alonzo Thompson was eventually located hiding inside a dumpster and was booked into the Palaski County Detention Center. After receiving medical clearance, passenger Antonio McClendon was arrested on outstanding felony warrants while another passenger, Kristen Bundy, was released following the investigation. On November 30th, 2025, Arkansas troopers attempted to stop a car displaying expired dealership tags, but driver Shamia Johnson had different plans. A traffic violation quickly snowballed into a pursuit that ended far from the roadway. See trucks around 1024 race black passenger car. You want to be at the M37 be eastbound race 123. Stop. Stop. I TV got hurt. So >> Oh, you did? >> Yeah. >> What's your name? >> Shamaya. What? >> Do you got warrants? Yes, sir. >> What? Where at? >> Here. >> What's your day work? a place to go. >> Is your ID in here by chance? >> Sir, >> is your ID or anything like >> um [snorts] >> Johnson was transported to the Craig Head County Detention Center and charged with offenses including fleeing in a vehicle fleeing on foot and resisting arrest. She also faced allegations of reckless driving on a suspended license and operating without liability insurance. July 24th, 2022 began with a crash involving a family van carrying two young children and a driver who left the scene instead of staying behind. When troopers tracked down Christina and her damaged vehicle, her explanation immediately drew scrutiny. >> Hello Hey, how's it going, man? >> Hey, um, whose red car is this out here? >> What's wrong? >> The little red Chevy. >> Uh, stepmom. >> It's your stepmom. >> Dad's girlfriend. >> Where is she at? >> Uh, I can go there. >> Yeah, if you don't mind, please. >> You want to get your dog? I didn't want her getting out running off or nothing. >> There you go. >> Yeah. >> Hey, how you doing? >> Well, I've been better. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, >> I'd say so. >> Yeah. I didn't know I did that until I got home. >> You didn't know you did that? >> No. I bumped someone. I didn't know it was that bad until I got home. I was just on the phone with my sister and I was like, "Oh my god." >> There was like a pile up. >> Yeah. >> And I hit someone, but I Everybody was veering off. >> Yeah. >> To the side. And I did that and I drove home. >> Yeah. >> I didn't know it was that bad. I got you. Where were you coming from? >> My sister's house. >> Your sister's house? >> Yeah. >> Are you you Christina? >> Yeah. >> So, what were you doing at your sister's house? >> Swimming in a pool and I drank two beers. >> So, the story is changing now. >> No, I was at my sister's house and I drank two beers. >> And then I came home. >> No, the story's not changed. I left my sisters. Come home. Well, with the alcohol situation, you said you drank all your beers when you got here. You said >> No, I drank two beers at my sister's house. I drank some beers when I got home. >> Okay. >> You didn't ask me about my sister's house. >> I asked you how much you had to drink today and you said I just drank some when I got home. >> I apologize. I drank two beers at my sister's. >> Okay. You ever done one of these before? >> Yeah. >> Little breathalyzer. >> Do me a favor. >> Yeah. >> Inhale. Take a deep breath. Exhale. And blow till I take you stop. Okay. All right. You know what that says? >> 15.15. You know what the legal alcohol limit is? >> Yes, sir. >> It's 08. >> Okay. Well, I've drank several beers since I've been home. >> Okay. Well, you're still double over the legal limit. Okay. >> Can I do that at my house? >> So, the problem is you told me you drank before you got here and then you told me you drank when you got here. I had a beer or two in the course of from 3:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. >> Okay. >> And then I got home and I just pounded several beers. >> So, you can pound several beers like that. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Well, >> yeah, I can. >> Go ahead. Turn around. Put your hands on your back for me. >> Can I Can I tell my people what's going on? >> We'll get it all figured out. >> What about my phone? Can I take my phone? >> Stay with me. >> What did I do? >> Huh? >> You were drinking and driving and you hit a family in a van. >> No, I didn't. >> You fled the scene of an accident. >> No, Bob. >> Okay. Can I Can I take my phone inside? >> I knew I hit somebody, but I realized I had my car. >> Oh, here he comes. He's mad at me. He doesn't let me know. I understand. >> How are you, sir? >> Are you Greg? >> Yes, sir. >> Trooper Freeman Arpal Arkansas State Police. >> So, just try to catch up. We had a call about an accident on the interstate. They gave this vehicle description. They gave her description, detailed her down to the glasses and everything. Um, Trooper Quinn here worked by accident. I came out to the residents follow up on the vehicle, found it here. You know, she smells of alcohol. She said she's been drinking earlier. >> So, that's that's kind of why we're we're out here. You know, obviously I don't think we do these things on some people do, but alcohol changes the whole, you know, story on what's going on. And she called that a little bump. And as you can see, you'll see the back of her car. And the Honda Odyssey had two small kids in the back of it. And she knew she hit him and she just left. But she left because she's intoxicated. But I don't think she ever thought that we would come here, but I mean the description of the card down to the teeth while we're here. >> So uh I'm going to need uh her driver's license. She said it was with her phone and she can take her phone, too. But I don't know that the jail will hold her. So I need somebody to come get her. I don't know if I want to. >> I understand. I totally understand that and I respect that. I 100% respect that truck and I'm I'm not driving. >> So, I really don't have a car to go pick up. >> Do you mind if this trooper goes to the doorway and grab her driver's license? That'll help me.
