I'm getting charged with capital murder. There was a video. There's a whole video. I wasn't even there. I didn't know anything about it. I'm I'm scared. I'm scared. >> This piece of work is 18-year-old Anukica Alamman. Just moments before this interview, Anukica thought she could orchestrate, plan, and execute the perfect robbery. A robbery that not only has turned into a murder, but one that was [music] caught on camera. And that very same footage would prove that Anukica was never acting alone. >> Who's this? >> It's all on video. Those are from the video. And over the course of this interrogation, you will watch these two pull anything they can to get away with their crimes. Whether that means acting like a lunatic or calling for daddy. >> Yeah. >> Can I talk about it at first? My dad's a lawyer, too. Like he has emotions. Like I don't know what I did. Can we restart? >> On November 8th at around 300 p.m. workers at a Valero gas station just outside of Dallas were startled by the sound of gunshots. [music] Panicked, they rushed outside to see 66-year-old Ahmed Al-Haliff lying on the ground, bleeding from a gunshot wound to the chest. They quickly called 911, but by the time paramedics arrived, it was too late. Ahmed was a father, [music] a husband, and a hard worker taken in an instant for reasons no one could understand. He had no enemies, no criminal past, no family drama. Desperate for answers on who could possibly kill this innocent man, police pulled up the surveillance cameras from nearby [music] businesses. And that's when they saw the last thing they expected. A teenage girl snatching an iPhone from Ahmed and sprinting off. When Ahmed gave chase, the girl turned, firing a single shot into him. To detectives, it was clear it was a robbery gone wrong. And something else was clear, too. The shooter, Amaya Madano. Despite the fact that she was just 19 years old, police were well acquainted with her due to her own criminal history. But in looking at the history on Ahmed's phone and speaking with his spouse, police quickly came to realize that Amaya wasn't the only one involved in this shooting. Her close friend Anuka Alaman had actually messaged Ahmed [music] on Facebook Marketplace wanting to buy an iPhone 15 he was selling. Ahmed agreed to meet her at the very gas station where he took his last breath. It appeared to [music] detectives that the whole thing had been a setup. Anukica sent Amaya to rob him and Amaya agreed. Only the robbery [music] didn't exactly go as planned. Within days, police were able to take Amaya into custody for questioning without incident. Taking Anukica in for questioning, however, didn't go as smoothly. >> Slowly move the cover. >> GET OUT OF THE BED SLOWLY. HEY, I'm going to tell you one more time. If you get T out of the bed around her. >> Oh, she playing, man. Go. >> They're in. They're in. They're in. They're in. >> It's not turn around. Let's go. >> Yeah, that's her. She playing and she trying to fight right now, too. >> Yeah. She come out of the room. >> That's too much paperwork right there. >> Hey, let her ride just like that. Hey, let her ride just like that. >> Oh, don't worry about that. >> Now you don't got clothes on >> some slides or something. No, she can go like that. [music] >> And that viewers is how 18-year-old Anukica Alaman found herself. of Winnie the Poohing it in the back of a cop [music] car. Though despite that, Anukica is much more concerned with her cell phone, which is very age appropriate of her. >> Can you get my phones out of the room? >> All right. >> Can you get my phone? >> This your last chance for some pain. >> Okay. Can you get my phones, please? >> All right. Here, put your leg in here. >> Can you get my phones, please? >> Man, I'm trying to be nice. Can you get my phones, please? >> Hold on. I'm trying to help you first. your dignity. Remember, hold on. >> I don't. >> Bro, >> you can't have your phones regardless. >> I don't need to have my phones, my [ __ ] >> You can't have your phones. I'm telling you that right now. You have a warrant for your arrest. >> For what, though? >> They'll talk to you about it when you get down there. >> Why can't nobody tell me now, though? >> Because ain't going to help you. >> No. Oh, how long? Oh, no. How long this is? No, this is not going to work. You going to have to I need to talk to my people or this is going to have to end up in my way cuz there's no way. >> DO NOT TOUCH THAT. >> YOU GOING TO SHOW ME CUZ I WANT YOU TO KILL ME. I WANT YOU to kill me. I don't here either. [snorts] You the only this right now. >> The only thing worse than dealing with the possibility of going to prison for life is police having to deal with her at all. Fortunately, it was Amaya that police interrogated [music] first and she was though evasive surprisingly bearable. At least when compared to her friend. Detectives read Amaya her rights and [music] get down to business. So, last Friday over there at the Bolero, um, I know you were over there. [clears throat] Like I said, I'd like to get your side of the story. So, can you tell me what happened? >> It's blur. >> I'm sorry. [clears throat] >> It was a blur. >> It's a blur. As best you can. >> What do you mean? >> So, you're at the Valero. So, [snorts] why were you opening? I mean, I was there multiple times. >> Okay. At [clears throat] about 3 p.m. >> I remember times actual times. >> Okay. So, you don't remember what happened over there? So, like I was saying, I'm trying to get your side of the story. I was out there. I've been talking to people. There's cameras. This is your chance. I don't want to go off what other people are telling me, but I will if I have to. Okay? So, I'm trying to get your side of the story. I know some of the answers to the questions I'm gonna ask you. It's just to make sure you're telling me the truth. Okay. Are are you gonna tell me the truth? >> We'll we'll tell he'll he'll tell you everything all the information we have. Okay. There's no secrets. There's no games. Okay. We're just trying to understand, you know, there's there's reasons why. We're just trying to understand why. You know, that's that's why I would ask you like why did you go over there in the first place? [snorts] >> Which time >> in the evening? >> I remember. >> Who's this? >> Okay. >> So, who is this? That's me. >> That's you, right? Exactly. Who's this? >> Me. >> That's you. Correct. So, here's what here's what like I told you. Adam's going to tell you everything everything we know. So, here's what I'm going to tell you. It's all on video. Those are from the video. Okay. >> Are they like stop ones? >> What's that? But like I didn't want >> No, it's good video. >> No, it's actual video. That's a picture from a video. >> Oh, okay. >> But I don't want to play game. >> Okay. >> So, >> can we get that? >> Why'd you go there? >> Um, [ __ ] Make a transaction, I guess. >> What kind of transaction? >> Okay, let me go ahead and speed this up for you. Okay, Adam already. What do you already have? I know you're there to meet up for a phone. >> Why do we know that? >> Because we have the messages >> from >> Facebook. >> Does that help? So, let's quit playing games. Okay. Let's understand why this happened. Maybe that can help explain it. Do you understand? >> Yeah. So, verbally this didn't go smooth. >> What's that? >> Verbally it didn't go smooth. >> Well, it it didn't go smooth. >> But you have to explain so we understand. Maybe there's something that he needs to know that he doesn't already know that helps explain it. That's why we're here. Do you understand what I mean? So, you can't just say, "Oh, it didn't go smooth." We know that, but what about it didn't go smooth? Do you understand? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, so tell him, >> is he alive? >> No, he's not. He's dead. >> Yeah. >> Right. So, this is very serious for you. That's why it's important that he understands why it happened. >> We're being honest with you. We don't want to play games. >> Yeah, we're not holding back. We won't tell you everything. >> It's over [ __ ] >> Okay. Please explain. >> Yeah. >> No, they just went that way. >> So, what you meet up with him? What? You talk to him? I assume what >> you say verbally it didn't go good. So what happened? What what was the ver what we have to he's got to understand it cuz clearly you know something he doesn't. So tell him what he's not what he's missing. >> Just skip it through. >> I'm sorry. >> Skip it. >> Skip what? >> This. >> Look, this whole thing is being recorded. Okay. Uh you seem nice enough to me since we've been here. We've been talking. I don't think you're cold blooded like that. I'd like to get your side of the story. >> It matters. >> Well, here's the deal. You're going to jail for capital murder. >> You cool with that? [snorts] >> Let's go. Time is [clears throat] still like noon already. >> It is 12:30. >> Well, I'll get comfortable. >> What's that? >> I'll get comfortable. >> You'll live comfortable. I'll get comfortable. >> You'll get comfortable. >> What? What does that mean? >> It's just going to take forever. >> What's that? >> It's going to take forever. >> What's going to take forever? >> This process right here. >> What do you What do you mean? >> Takes forever in general. >> Okay. [clears throat] Okay. Well, like I said, we have video, we have the photos, I've been talking to people, I've been out there. Um, so I saw what happened. You know, I saw you were being chased. So, you know, if you change your mind, we'll be out there. But in the meantime, we're going to work on some paperwork. >> Yeah. Look, >> we we've also seen where you posted the phone for sale, too, >> just so you know. >> Yeah. >> Right. >> So, if there's any part of it that you want to help him understand something different, >> I'm pretty sure y'all get that though. >> Get what? >> Y'all saw the whole thing. >> Yeah, it's on video. Faced with the reality that her killing someone is very plainly on camera, Amaya actually settles in with detectives and is willing to speak with them, which is surprising given her background. You see, at the time of Ahmed's murder, Amaya was actually on probation for a felony charge. The felony, she stabbed someone. Due to her age, she was able to plead guilty and walk free as long as she stuck by the rules of her probation. Killing someone obviously has violated those rules. So, can we talk or not? >> Yes. I just want to hurry up and get this over. >> Okay. I'm going to leave you alone. Tell the man what happened and maybe there's some part of it that he can explain for you. You understand? >> So, you go there to meet up. I haven't snacked. >> Walk up to him. So, I was trucking out. [clears throat] >> Okay. >> And I'm like nervous already cuz like I want to do this stuff. Um, so, "All right, well, and then he was like, uh, he look at the phone and I was counting the money as you saw me just walked off." >> Okay. So, you never gave him the money? >> Well, I was, but the whole thing was >> What? So, you didn't What do you mean? >> I didn't touch his side. I didn't I didn't I don't do that stuff. Nobody else do that. >> Okay. So, you just took the phone and then you didn't give him the money and then you walked off. >> It pretty looks like that. >> I mean, is that what happened? I wasn't there. Okay. So, there's like small details that I can't fill in. >> Small details. I still think it would matter anyways, but [clears throat] >> it matters. It m I wouldn't be here talking to you if it didn't. Faster we get through it, this faster we get through my questions, faster you can be on your way. So, I just got nervous. >> Okay. What made you nervous? >> Him talking to me. >> What did he say? >> The money, the phone. All right, cool. Yeah, but like just like I don't know if I'm going to get you. I don't know if he's going to rob me or you know which way. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know. Some just got nervous and just like try to do. >> Okay. And then what happened? And then well you saw >> Okay. >> But I didn't I didn't mean to hit him. I was just doing it make the sound. >> Okay. >> He was never meant to hit him. >> Did you I mean but you pointed the gun in this direction. >> I looked back. >> You didn't look back. >> Afterwards look back. >> Okay. >> Why didn't you call police? >> I mean you were scared that >> Come on. >> It was being nervous. I'm just trying to corroborate what you're telling me. You know, you said you're scared, you're nervous, you're getting bad feelings about this guy. He follows you. >> Okay. [clears throat] >> What happened to the phone? >> Phone I don't know. >> Huh? >> I don't have the phone. >> So, what happened to it? >> I don't know after that. >> So, you got the phone, >> went back >> back where >> to the spot over there. >> What's the spot over there? where y'all went to go look inside >> the probation office. >> No, >> I Okay, then please clarify. >> No, but that part right there I get to the spot. That was it. Went in there. From there, we all split up. >> Who's we all? The >> girl yelling right here. >> Okay. That's her Facebook profile. >> Obviously, you see the faces. >> I mean, >> I don't >> Maybe you use it. Maybe just use her pictures or something. You know, I got to clarify all these things. That's her Facebook profile. >> Have you looked at it? >> Yeah, but I mean, you could be using it. >> No, I have an Android. >> Okay. And she has an iPhone. >> Okay. Were [clears throat] you messaging him or was she messaging him? I wasn't. >> It wasn't. >> I was. >> Okay. So, you were Did she tell you like, "Hey, this guy's on his way." >> Or she just send you over there. Is this verbal? What? >> Just Hey, hey, go do go get the phone. >> Do a transaction. Okay. Did she know that you were going to take the phone? No. >> No. >> Whose [clears throat] money was this? Was this her money or your money? Who's the phone for >> in the moment? >> I mean, is the phone even for any of you guys or are you just trying to get some a phone to sell >> in the moment? >> What does that mean? >> Like, oh, hey, let's do this. Get this and this. >> Okay, let's let's do this, this, and that. >> Let's do this and that. is some teenage criminal speak that we'll break down for you. Amaya and Anukica's plan was for Amaya to steal the phone. Then Anukica would list it for sale and the two would split the profit. Within just a few minutes of speaking with Amaya, police are able to get the basic information on the case. With Anukica, who they brought in 2 days later, they weren't quite as lucky. [snorts] >> I'm down. >> I know. I'm I went to go get him. He's coming. All right. You got to be patient. You keep saying that it's going to be hours of run. >> It hasn't been hours. It literally I was gone for 4 minutes. All right. I'm going to go get him. He knows you're here. He's coming from his desk. All right. Just give him his time to get whatever he needs to get to come talk to you. >> All right. >> And now I'm dig. I don't know. >> I don't know. I'm not at >> I need to go home. I have I have family. I have no Please understand me. I don't understand me. I don't know me. Like I don't know have [ __ ] to do with y'all. Please understand me. I need someone like >> Well, the detectives come in. And you can tell him what you need to tell him. All right. >> Where is he? When is >> He's at his desk. He's coming over. I just let him know that you're >> When though. >> Okay. Look, you need to You need to relax. Okay. If you If you do anything to piss him off, it's just going to take longer. So, just wait. >> HOW CAN I just just give him a little bit of time to get here? All right. Be patient. Patient. >> Wait. >> You got to shut the >> I have to just give me time. >> Wait. >> [laughter and gasps] >> Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I I >> don't get it. I don't get this [ __ ] Did you really press that? >> I don't get this [ __ ] I don't get what is this? >> I ain't know how to take this off. Well, >> you thought that was going to take long. Now they got to deal with that before they come talk to you. >> What's up? WHAT ARE YOU DOING, >> BRO? I don't understand why I'm in here. I'm just trying to First of all, sit right here. Sit in this chair. Sit in that chair. Nobody's trying to tell me [ __ ] I don't know what to do. >> Just there's nothing. Just chill. >> I'm not going to be here for 3 hours waiting for somebody to come talk to me about something I didn't do though. I don't have any when I contacted my parents. Like >> Detective Johnson will be in here to talk to you. >> Huh? >> Detective Johnson will be in here to talk to you. So, >> you got somewhere to be. >> I have my family. I have a job. I have my family. Like, people are waiting for me. This was not supposed to happen to me. I don't even I don't even know what I'm here for. >> I don't I don't either. But just wait on him and he'll come to talk to you. >> You know how long it >> Do you want anything to drink? >> Do you need anything? >> Can I talk to my parents? >> When he'll come in here and then he'll talk to you. Okay. Do >> you know how long it'll be? >> I do not know. I don't know. Can like I have to be myself in this room while I for him. >> Yeah. >> You're fine. Just you just >> It'll be like [gasps] You're just sitting here. You okay? >> Girl, I'm okay. [crying] Like I never miss four. I've been 18 this month. Like I never like I don't know what any of this I don't know what any of this is. I need to talk to my people. I don't know anything is going on right now. I don't want to be in here by myself. I don't want to talk to these people. I don't know anything. I don't know anything that's going on. Like I don't want to talk to any [ __ ] sex. I don't want to wait. I don't want to be in a room by myself. I don't want to do any of this. This has anything to do with me. I didn't do anything. I don't nothing to do with me. I don't want to wait for hours and detectives to come talk to me about some [ __ ] I did. Look, it won't be 3 hours. It'll be a bit. Just can I get you anything? Can I have him bring you anything? Just Just sit here and wait. Like, you're safe. You're okay. The detective will be in here to talk to you. I know this is not where you want to be, but you're here now. >> I want you to talk to my people, bro. >> Okay. >> You I know. I don't want to say like cuz y'all trying to put me in like all types of restraints and [ __ ] but bro, like I get to like hurting myself and [ __ ] cuz I really do not want >> our gangster teen here with the hardcore neck tattoos has been sitting in police custody for a whopping 27 minutes. That's 27. 27 minutes which have primarily been spent crying, banging on the door, and screaming to detectives that she wants to speak to her daddy. We were unable to find any previous criminal charges linked to Anukica, but given her age, that's not entirely surprising. It seems she decided to enter the criminal world with a bang. [snorts] >> [clears throat] >> Okay, now go back. >> Is it dude? >> No. No. Come on. For >> what? >> Because you can never honestly. >> Cuz what? >> Cuz you're doing stupid stuff. >> Stop. And >> now we have to restrain you. Yep. [clears throat] >> Oh my god. That's my people, bro. >> No. You really think we're going to let you now? [clears throat] >> No. >> You're going to have to attack me. Kill me. Do it. I don't care. >> Go to the detective if you want to send these cuffs now. >> Unfortunately, she just killed the single brain cell that she had left. >> Come on. I need your thumbs up. Sorry. Yeah. >> Are you the same one? >> Well, I am the same one. And I'm trying to be >> I'm scared. I'm scared. Like >> I know you're scared, but you're not doing this. You're not making this any better. >> What am I supposed to do? Like nobody's in here. >> You're supposed to wait. Like they're telling you to wait >> to wait for hours >> to wait for the detective. >> And I don't have anything. >> Unfortunately, we're not on your time. We're on his time. So, we got to wait for him. Then we got to wait for him. >> Then, can I talk to my people? >> Now, you're going to have to wait. >> If I don't If I leave these off for you, are you going to be chilling until the detective shows up? >> What does this have to do with anything? >> So, you don't sit there and bang your head on anything? >> Is this going to make me not bang my head ON IT? >> NO. WELL, I'M gonna I'm gonna stitch you to the seat, but I'm trying to not have to do this. >> I don't care what you do. Wait, >> is [clears throat] he coming? >> He said if you can chill out for like five minutes, five whole minutes, he'll come in and talk to you. You keep doing all Listen. Just listen. Just listen. >> I'm trying. >> Just listen. You're not listening. That's the problem. >> Stop and chill. Stop doing all this extra [ __ ] bouncing your head off the walls. He wants five minutes [clears throat] for me to chill. Five whole minutes. And then you can get whatever you want. Talking about you want to talk to your parents or whoever you want to talk to. But you getting up all up and down like a roller coaster ain't going to work. He's not going to talk to you. And we'll just [clears throat] stay here and we're going to prolong or stay here for what? When all you got to do is just chill. >> Anukica lasts a shocking 2 minutes and 2 seconds before she does this. And another 40 seconds before she does this. >> Oh [ __ ] >> Are you this? >> Yeah. Anaka. >> Yes. Yes. >> Okay. Can you sit over there for me? >> Yes. Absolutely. >> I understand you're trying to get out of here. I'm trying to understand you're trying to hurry this up. Okay. >> Absolutely. >> Listen to me. >> I understand that. Okay. I know you want phone numbers. I know you want phone. Is that all correct? Let me let me let me get to what I need to ask you and we'll get through this. Okay? You work with me, I'll work with you. >> I'm sure you got questions for me. I got questions for you. >> Before we get into anything, you're an attorney, right? My dad's an attorney, too. So, I just want you to see like >> I'm Detective Joselyn. I'm [clears throat] not an attorney. Okay. So, like I said, you want phone numbers. I got to talk to you. We got to do all this before >> okay >> before we can talk. Okay. Like I said, I got questions for you. You got questions for me? We can talk about it. Right. >> That's it. >> You have the right to remain silent and not make any statement at all. >> Anukica has the right to remain silent, but judging on how things have gone so far, she definitely lacks the ability. The detective reads her her rights and gets down to business. >> You know what this is about? >> I have no idea what this is about. >> This is your Facebook. I can't even see what that is. >> I mean, an old like a really old one. Yeah. But >> you don't use this at all? >> No, I don't have this account anymore. >> You don't What account do you have? >> I don't have an I think it's like an something else within I would show you, but I don't. >> And so, like I said, there's some questions I'm going to ask you that I already know the answer to. All right. I do that cuz I want you to tell me the truth. I need to make sure you tell me the truth. >> Okay. So, I know you were using this Facebook account. Okay. >> Are you using that Facebook account? Like I said, please tell me the truth. >> I'm not gonna lie. It wasn't me on my Facebook account. I I can't I don't know what Can I talk to my dad at first? >> Huh? To your dad? >> I want to talk to you, but I need to talk to somebody else. >> I'm sorry. Right now, you can't talk to your dad. >> I can't I'm scared to tell you. >> I'm trying to get you out of here. I'm trying to figure this out. The faster we get through this, faster you can go. I can get your dad's number and we can figure that I'm scared to tell you the information and it's like you're not I'm just let me control myself. >> Uh-huh. >> Okay. So, what do you want to know? >> This is your Facebook account, correct? >> My Facebook account, correct? >> Uh-huh. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> Last Friday. >> And then my friend used my account to say she's >> what friend? >> The friend, you know, the one that's arrested. >> Come on, just be honest. >> I can't really don't want to do this. >> But hey, like I said, this is all being recorded, right? Obviously, you're here for a reason. So, just from talking with you, you seem scared. I don't think you're no stone cold person. All right. >> I'm scared. I'm really scared. I don't want >> Like I said, I don't think you're hard like that. Right. So, I'm trying to figure this out. I'm trying to help you. So, tell me what happened. >> We're being recorded right now, too. Can is there a way like I don't think I can talk about this. I need to be able to like [snorts] cuz I don't know what like what I can say and what I can't say. Like I don't know. >> Just tell me the truth. >> Why wouldn't you tell me anything >> because I don't know how like she would I don't know. I don't want to get her in trouble. >> There's a lot of things. >> I don't want to get her in trouble, but I don't want to go to jail either. Like that's my cousin. Like I don't want I don't want her to get get in trouble for that [ __ ] She was on my [ __ ] She was on my phone. She was like I said, you're under arrest. You're here. Okay. We're We're past that. So, what am I I'm confused. What am I here for? Then >> let's talk about this. You need to tell me what happened. I'm trying to get your side of the story. Now, I've been out there. I've been talking to people. I don't want to speak for you, but that's the case. >> I wasn't anyone out there. >> Well, let's talk about it. >> Okay. >> So, what happened from the beginning? >> From the beginning of what though? I'm not >> This is your Facebook account. My face would be right. >> Set up a me to buy a iPhone. >> Was it >> Friday? >> Yeah. I didn't set it up though. My friend did. >> Okay. So, where were you? >> I don't even remember. Me maybe in like East Dallas or >> Tell me what you do remember. Okay. O Cliff, where were you? >> Um Oh, maybe [clears throat] it's somewhere somewhere in the Dallas area. >> Okay. Yeah, that that seems about right from what I've been able to find. Am I supposed to be telling you this attorney? Please don't. >> Can we talk or not? Can >> I don't know. >> It's up to you. >> I don't know. Am everything I'm saying right now going to go with me anyways. >> Like I said, this is being recorded. There's a lot of things that jurors don't like. >> But mainly what they don't like is a lawyer is a liar. >> Am I saying something already that >> Okay. So, it seems like you're trying to talk to me, but you're trying to cover up small details. All right. That's going to get you caught. >> Cover up small details. Like what? >> Like this wasn't your Facebook account and then you >> That was my Facebook account. >> Exactly. So just tell the truth. >> I didn't say that wasn't my Facebook account. >> Initially you did, but I think you're trying to work with me. I'm trying to work with you. Okay. So you're at a hotel. >> Can I talk to my people first? >> I'm sorry. You I can't do this first. We have to talk first. After that, I will work with you. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. What happened next >> after that? >> At the hotel, you're on your Facebook. I assume you're setting up a you're wanting to buy a phone. >> And then my friend, we were that we were both on on our phones. We did not mean for none of this [ __ ] to happen. >> Okay. >> I'm sorry. I really don't think How long does it take to get an attorney? >> Huh? >> How long does it take to get >> I don't know how long it takes to get an attorney? >> Should I talk to an attorney? >> I can't answer that for you. What I can tell you is that you should talk to me and you're going to have wanted to later. >> But if I talk to you right now and everything's good, am I going to go home? >> You're under arrest, >> right? So, I won't be able to go home here. >> I haven't talked to you yet. You're not talking to me. You keep stopping. >> I'm scared. I'm scared to tell you. I don't know what to tell you. >> I'm trying [snorts] to tell you the truth. >> Everything. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. It was my Facebook account. My cousin, I don't I didn't want her to go down. She was on my account. >> Mhm. >> We were both I'm not going to lie, we were both on my account, but this is none of that [ __ ] was supposed to happen. >> Okay. >> Nothing else was supposed to happen. Just what happened. >> Okay. So, don't glaze over stuff because >> I wasn't there. I wasn't there at all. Like, I was not even there. I wasn't there. I was asleep. Like, none of that [ __ ] I was asleep. Like, the cameras, y'all can run the cameras back and forth. I was not there at all. I had no >> Okay. So, you're setting up. You're talking with this person. How's the conversation go? >> I'm telling you it wasn't me. I don't know. I don't remember. I don't have I don't have the It was on I don't I don't know. It was must have been on account. I'm not sure. >> Okay. Then who who who was on your account? >> My My friend. The one that set it up. >> Who's your friend? >> The one that's in jail for it. >> Okay. What's her name? Like I said, there's things I already know the answer to, but I need to make sure you're telling me the truth. >> I am a runoff. >> Okay. So, she's your cousin. >> Okay. And what? You're saying she was on your Facebook account? >> Yes. >> You don't sound confident. >> I'm scared. I'm scared cuz I don't know what I'm telling you. I don't know what I'm getting into right now. Yes. >> Lying is one thing. Lying and putting a question mark on the end of your lie is frankly embarrassing. From the get-go, Anukica is eager to put the entire crime on Amaya, though she's not quite brave enough to name her. >> So, you're what? She's like on over your shoulder and you're like talking to this guy or what? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And the plan was to get it from him and he tried to grab her. >> Okay. >> He tried to grab her and >> he said to get it from him. So, >> to get >> What does that mean? >> I really Hold on. [clears throat] I'm sorry. I don't know if I should do an attorney, right? >> Look, I've talked to Amaya, okay? I have the Facebook messages. I'm trying to get your side of the story. Like you said, you weren't there. You're telling me the truth, >> okay? But I know you're talking to her cuz she was there before he got there. >> And I know you're messaging him while she's waiting. So, you're talking to her while she's waiting to him. Correct. >> Yeah. And I was not Now that I was not there. >> Okay. I don't think you wanted what happened to happen, right? >> But it's still >> Well, I'm trying to figure out that detail. >> What's the detail, though? >> I don't think you meant for her to shoot him, right? >> I didn't mean for any of this to happen. >> Well, you meant to meet up to get the phone. Like, you said that was a plan to get the phone, >> but not to rob him or like do anything. >> Well, not to rob him, but just to uh >> I gave I gave her the money for >> Yeah, but the money was how much? It was the right amount of money. >> It was $300 to $400. >> Yeah, it wasn't. >> That's not a right amount of money. >> How much was it supposed to be? >> So, according to your messages, it was $800. >> It wasn't I'm pretty sure I sent her 800. >> No, look, like I said, I've talked to her. Okay. I've seen the messages. >> Okay. Well, I'm not >> You were trying to get the phone from him. Okay. >> Okay. >> The gun she has. The gun that I now have. >> Okay. >> That you had. Okay. >> Right. >> Right. >> Okay. That you gave to Amaya. >> Mhm. >> Why? >> I still don't know what we're talking about. The the what? >> What happened at the Valero? She used a gun. Okay. Like you just said, >> Valero, the one that that did all that stuff happen at >> Mhm. >> the gun. >> Yes. >> What about it? >> You had it. >> Uh-huh. >> Right. >> Right. >> Okay. Why did Amaya have it if it's your gun? >> I just got it for her. I don't know. >> You got it for her? Okay. For the meetup? >> No, like just for protection. >> Just in general? >> Yeah, I just >> When did you give her the gun? >> Like literally just that day? >> That day? Okay. Did you tell anything to Amaya before you gave her the gun? >> No. I'm confused. What are you Are you leading me on right now? >> I'm trying to ask Please work with me cuz I'm I'm I'm >> okay. Okay. >> Please don't try to put me in the situation that I'm cuz I'm I'm really confused right now and I'm not trying to go to like into Please work with me. I'm a human too. >> I understand that. >> I'm [clears throat] human. I'm not trying to go to jail. >> Tell me about the gun. >> The gun? Okay. What about I get What about it? >> Tell me what about it. You said you got it that day. >> I don't know anything about the gun. I still >> How did you get the gun? >> How How' I get the gun? I I don't even remember. >> What does that mean? >> I was I was high. Hey, I was really high. Like I was really high. >> Okay. What do you use? >> What do I use? >> RS. >> Okay. All right. So, you get her the gun. You don't remember where it's from. And you [snorts] that same day, the same day as you make the Facebook stuff meet up. >> I don't know. It wasn't my This is I'm going to go to jail, right? >> You are under arrest. But I'm going to go to jail for whatever. >> We haven't completed the interview, okay? I can't make you any promises. >> Anukica has no idea that she's just put herself in a much, much worse position. Arranging a meeting where someone gets killed can result in receiving the same charges as the person who committed the murder. But supplying the gun that was used to kill someone, that's a guarantee that you'll receive those same charges. She claims that she gave Amaya, who was allegedly living on the streets, the gun for protection. So you give her a gun for protection. >> Wait. Yes. But can is this a gun? Like >> am I going to like period? >> You are under arrest. >> Am I going to go to jail? >> Even though they should. [snorts] >> Well, I have a bond. >> I believe so. >> A high bond? >> I can't tell you. I don't know. There's no way that this could cuz I >> Okay, so what's up? >> Okay, so Friday you're saying you got her the gun for protection. What happened next? >> No, I lied. I didn't get her the gun. I didn't I didn't do any of that. I don't I don't know what I did. Okay. >> Can we restart or does this all just >> I mean what what do you mean by restart? >> Cuz I don't know what to say now and I'm scared. >> Just tell me the truth. >> Well, I'm trying to but I don't KNOW WHAT TO LIKE I don't know to say if if I'm saying the right things. Like it is the truth but like is it going to make is this making it >> about the meet up to buy the phone? >> This is what it was. I gave her the money to go buy the phone. >> Okay. >> I was too. I gave him the money. I told her to go buy the phone cuz I need phone. I had to give her my I need to give her my phone cuz about it. I told her to give go get the phone and he tried to grab her. He didn't mean to go like that. He tried to grab her. She didn't mean to. She [ __ ] shot him. >> Did. >> Okay. >> I shouldn't have told you that, right? >> And then what? >> What do you mean? And then what? >> She leaves. What? She >> I don't know. I don't know. I can't be >> What's up? What do you want from me? What else? What else do you want from me? >> What happens next? >> I wasn't there. I don't know. >> Okay. When's the next time you talk to Amaya? >> Never. She She left me after that. I never talked to her again after that. She dipped off. I didn't know what the happened to her. >> I got like one call from her and that's it. >> And what happened to the phone after that? I don't even know what the phone was. I don't know. I can't I can't remember. I don't know. What are you asking me? What? What happened to the phone? >> Yeah, >> I don't know what happened to the phone. >> Okay. So, this [snorts] is a posting that you put on Facebook, >> okay, >> of that same phone day later. Okay. >> So, what happened to that phone? >> I mean, I guess that's what I don't know if that's what it's on. Did a good >> Is that not your hand? >> I mean, >> with the same nails. >> Obviously, I don't have those nails, but yeah, that's what it looks like. [snorts] >> So, like I said, don't tell me you don't know what happened to that phone. >> No, I'm not telling you. I don't I'm telling you, I don't know what Can I Can I call my people, please? Well, I'll talk to you, but can I please have some like I need some guidance. Like, I don't know what to tell you and what I can't tell you. >> I can't have you call your people right now. Right now, we're talking. >> All right. And this is going to [clears throat] give me most time that I can because you're not letting talk to my Okay, >> man. Do you mind? >> I'm sorry. My bad. >> What happened to the phone? >> What phone? To the 15. >> Yeah. >> I don't know. I don't know. I s it got maybe like sold. >> Is that what you're asking me? >> That's what I'm trying to figure out. Yes. >> I don't know. It got sold thrown away. Like I'm not really sure. I don't I'm scared to incriminate myself because I didn't do anything wrong. What I'm telling you is what happened was me and Amaya were on my Facebook account. Me and Amaya, we did have this arrangement. What happened was we were going to buy the phone. This guy ended up, we both got scared. The guy ended up grabbing her. She accidentally shot him and that's what happened. Okay. With the gun that you provided. So, in this setup, you're telling me you were planning to buy a phone? >> It wasn't the gun. It was not a gun that I provided that had like just been there for this day. Like we had I didn't know it wasn't it wasn't my gun. No, I'm not taking that charge. If if that if it's going to be charging No, it wasn't mine. It wasn't my gun. I buy that [ __ ] and I'm not No, none of this [ __ ] has anything to do with me. >> Unfortunately for Anukica, you can't just retract a statement because you've realized that it might result in a charge. >> Is he even real? >> Yes, this is real. What did you and Maya talk about before to the meet up? >> What do you mean >> before the meet up? Before you went to go meet him? >> Nothing. We didn't talk about anything. >> You didn't talk about, hey, he's going to arrive at this Valero. Just wait for him. >> Yeah, I think I told her like he's going to be there at this time. Like, show him the cash or something. Show him the cash. >> Yeah, show him the cash. Give him the Give him the cash. Like, I needed the phone. >> Okay. So, as far as you're aware, it was just to buy the phone. >> It was to buy the phone. Yes. I needed the phone. And I had the money. I still have the money. Like, >> how much money? >> How much money was it? >> You tell me. >> I think it was like like you said it was like 800 something, right? >> Mhm. >> And [clears throat] you said I only was 600. Like I said, I was But I had the money on me and I still have the It is over there. I still have it. If it was eight, I was up and I'm pretty sure I had my backpack. If Did I even go? See, I was I don't know. I sent her I sent her. So, it should have been 800. Should have been 800 for the phone, right? You're not helping me. >> Tell me. I'm trying to get it from your side. >> I I can't remember. Bro, you not see how I am right now? I'm kind of too like I just woke up. Um, I was up last night like you're not you're not getting me. >> I mean, I'm trying not to speak for you, right? >> Okay. Okay. Can you take it back one step back one second? What did you say to me before? [snorts] >> I said, "What did you and Maya say before you met up?" >> Before we met up. Okay. With him. >> Before we met up. Before Okay. That we were going to buy the phone. >> Okay. >> And I sent her out there with with the amount of money I gave her. I didn't get I gave her my full stack. My full stack had about 1,400 in it. >> Mhm. [clears throat] >> I gave her my full stack and I told her to go get the money to go get him the money however much he wanted because I really need the phone. But I thought the phone was I think the phone was only supposed to be 600. I don't think it was supposed to be 800. So when you're saying 800 I'm like was it really supposed to be 800? But what? >> Okay. And that's all you go over. >> What do you mean? >> Like you said you didn't mean for her to shoot him. No, I didn't mean for her to rob him or anything. I I didn't mean to for nothing to happen. I meant for her to get the phone. I needed a phone. >> Okay. And you don't remember how you came in possession of that phone after? >> Had I came in possession of the phone after? >> Mhm. >> I don't even think I Yeah, I did. I don't remember. I don't remember. Oh, was she with me? Was she with me? >> I I don't know. I can't answer that for you. >> I don't know. I can't remember. I can't remember. >> Okay. What happened to the gun after >> that gone? I don't know. That hel gone for sure. I don't know. >> I think I don't know. Can you I mean all this is being recorded. I don't know what to say. >> Tell me the truth. >> I'm telling you the truth. None of this. >> What happened to the gun after? >> I don't know. I'm telling you this had nothing to do with me. I have no idea. >> And you didn't see Amaya after that? >> No. I was trying to get in contact with her, but I have no idea where she is. I I literally was like freaking the looking for her. >> This is my other time. >> And you don't know what happened to the phone, but you know you sold the phone on Facebook Marketplace. >> What do you mean? I don't know what happened to it. You tell me you don't >> I didn't I didn't know that that's what happened to it until Yes. Yes. >> Who' you sell the phone to? >> I have no idea. I think you have the thing right there, but I have no idea. >> You don't remember selling it? >> I I can't. I'm telling you. So, I'm being honest. You're asking me to be honest. >> You don't When did you sell the phone? >> I don't know. >> Well, please try to remember. >> A couple days ago. A day ago. >> Okay. What? A day ago or a couple days ago? >> A day ago. >> Do you remember what day? >> The why? >> Cuz I'm [snorts] trying to figure out what happened. >> Can you help me understand why? >> This is my job. >> I don't know if it was a day ago or a couple days ago. >> You don't remember it was a Thursday or Wednesday or Tuesday or >> what's today? >> Today's Friday. >> I mean, if I I don't know. I can't I really can't tell. I don't know. Maybe maybe two days ago. >> Did you sell it to someone on Facebook Marketplace? >> I don't even know it. I'm telling you, my cousin was using my phone. I was scared. I'm telling you, this [ __ ] doesn't have anything to do with me. >> Okay. Well, let me check on some things you said. Give you a chance to think about it. >> No, please don't please don't leave me in here. We can finish talking about whatever you need to talk about. Please. >> I need to know what happened to that phone. >> Okay. What do you want to know about it? I don't know what to tell you. >> Who did you sell the phone to? >> Help me. Help me find I don't know. >> I can't answer that for you. I really can't. >> So, how do I find >> How do you find a phone? >> Like, you're trying to find the phone that that is is sold to or what? >> I'm trying to find a [clears throat] phone. Yes. >> I don't know how I find it. >> Well, you can tell me who you sold it to. >> What they look like, who it was, where you sold it. I'm trying to think. [clears throat] I I really don't know. I don't know. >> Okay. And you don't remember what happened to the gun either? >> I'm telling you, the gun that didn't have anything to do with me. Nothing else. >> But as far as what actually happened to the gun? >> Yeah. That didn't have I I didn't have nothing to do with the gun, though. I don't have I don't like I didn't even touch the gun. That [ __ ] didn't have anything to do with me. I don't know anything about that. About the phone, I I can't really remember anything about that either. I'm trying to You said I sold it to somebody. I'm trying to remember. Can you show me the thing? Like, >> it's just a posting that said for sale. That's it. >> And it sold. >> That's what I'm trying to find out. >> Well, I don't think I have that phone anymore. I don't I don't know where it would be at. I don't >> You don't know how much money you got for it? >> Oh, is that what if No. Oh, is that like f is that what you need for it? The money for it? >> I'm just trying to figure out what happened. Don't worry about what I need. Just answer my questions. >> Okay. What's the questions? I'm sorry. >> Who did you sell the phone to? >> I'm trying to tell you. I don't know. >> The stolen phone was ultimately sold on Anukica's Facebook profile for $700. The fact that Ahmed's life was taken for so little is obviously disgusting and disheartening. He had children and a wife who adored him and the possibility of living a long happy life with them was snatched away all over an iPhone. The detective steps out of the room and returns after Anukica knocks on the door and calls for him for several minutes. >> Do you know my bond is going to be? >> I don't know. Okay. >> And what am I getting charged with? >> Capital murder. >> I'm getting charged with capital murder. >> So, like I said, jurors don't like liars. I need you to tell me the truth. Okay. I've talked to your Is it your friend? Is it your cousin? You said >> Yeah. I wasn't trying to have the charged weren't planning on buying that phone. >> Okay. >> So, I need you to tell me what happened. >> You didn't mean for her to shoot her him, right? >> Um Okay. There's nothing else that needs to be said. You're really Oh, well. >> What? >> Oh, well. Just I was just ready to go to stare. There's nothing else I can say. >> Okay. You can tell me the truth. >> That was truth. That was my >> I know you weren't going to buy the phone. >> Okay then. >> So you need to tell me what happened. Did you mean for him to shoot her for her to shoot him? >> Hell no. >> Okay. So what what was what was the plan? >> No, that was not the plan. >> Okay. But she had a gun >> for protection, bro. For we care for protection. Do you realize that the area we're in? I can't talk anymore. I feel slow. I rather just just go in and get my bond and hopefully I'll get a bond. >> Okay. If you [clears throat] change your mind, I'm right. >> If I change my mind about what? >> Wanting to talk to me and tell me the truth. >> If if I if I talk to you and change my mind about what will it change? >> Recorded. This is all how you want to appear, >> right? >> It's up to you. >> Is there when will I be able to talk to my attorney or something? >> I can't answer that for you. I don't know. >> But they told me when I talk to you, I'll be able to talk to my like my people. Like I said, if you change hearing, you want to tell me what happened. >> Then I'll be able to tell you. >> This is all being recorded. So, this is how you want to look. >> Can you sit down and I can we can Okay. So, I tell you what you you're asking, right? And then I'm able to get into contact with my people. >> I will go through your phone if I have it and we can I can get you whatever numbers you need. >> Okay. I'm have a phone. It the new one. It doesn't have [ __ ] on it. >> Okay. It's iPhone 15. >> Okay. >> Literally nothing on it. No new phone number, everything. So, you're not going to be able to get [ __ ] out of it. But okay. >> Okay. >> Um, what else did you want? >> Like I said, you didn't plan for her to shoot him, right? >> None of that was the plan, bro. I didn't even know she was What? >> Well, look, I know I know she wasn't going to buy the phone. >> I know that. Like I said, hey, don't I know she wasn't going to buy a phone. >> And I'm not lying to him. And I wasn't there and I wasn't there. >> So when you're meeting up with him, you're talking to him on Facebook. >> Tell me what happened. I don't think you were going to shoot him. I don't think you went for her to shoot him. But you need to be honest with me. >> We have the money. We were going to buy the phone. >> I've talked to her, too. >> Yes. >> Okay. I know you guys were not going to buy the phone. She said we were going to rob him. >> I don't think she meant to shoot him either. >> But I don't think you guys are going to buy the phone. >> No, I'm pretty sure we were going to buy the phone. >> I can't see that. Well, I don't have my glasses on. I can't see how you're looking at me. >> I'm just looking at you. >> Can you please talk to me like like respect as a human? Like please don't be walking out of me on me like if you feeling upset or something like talk to me what we're spending. >> I'm not upset with you. >> We're human. Like >> I'm not upset with you. I just don't think you're telling me the truth about >> I'm confused. I'm confused about the truth about what? >> About the phone? Like what? >> Yes. >> What about it? >> I don't think you were there to buy the I know you weren't there to buy the phone or you weren't sending her to buy the phone. >> I did. I said I gave her the money to go buy the phone. Wait, can I ask you some more questions, please? First, you don't you don't want discuss this with me. You feel like that's all it's all good now. >> What What questions do you have for me? >> Just everything, bro. Like, everything. I don't understand why I'm going to be charged with capital murder and I didn't have like [ __ ] to do with it, bro. Like, I don't get it. >> I can't I can't make you understand that part. Okay. Let me work on getting you out of here. How long is it going to take? >> Ultimately, both Anukica and Amaya were charged with capital murder due to the fact that the robbery had been planned in advance. In order to avoid a jury trial, both girls actually plead guilty. Amaya Madano pleaded guilty to murder and received 55 years in prison. Anukica was able to lower her charges to aggravated robbery and as a result was put behind bars for 37 years. Hopefully there Anukica has been able to talk to her people. Our thoughts are with Ahmed and his family who never should have had to suffer this tragic loss. Thank you for watching today's video.
