January 13th 2015 s shwani was working late into the night at a gas station near White Rock Avenue in wakashaw Wisconsin what should have been another night shift would soon turn into tragedy as two massed individuals broke into the store demanding sah to empty the registers but the next thing that sah knew was a gunshot wound to the chest as the two robbers ran out the call that s made afterward to 911 would be gut-wrenching as he could only gather the strength to mutter one word clity 911 what's the address of your emergency hello by the time officers arrived at the scene they found the counter in complete disarray bullet casings $540 missing from the cash register and Scattered clothes around the entrance as for s he was slumped near the counter unable to speak by the time he reached the hospital it was far too late as he had died due to his injuries now officers had to find the answer to s's final plea why why would someone murder a cashier In Cold Blood to answer this officers first had to apprehend the suspects who they believed to be Kenneth Thomas the one who pulled the trigger and Darren Malone his accomplice several witness testimonies from locals had pinned these two to be missing on the night of the murder most importantly it just so happened that at Kenneth's Home Police found the exact revolver used to murder sahed the green mask from CCTV and $540 the amount stolen subsequently Kenneth was brought in for questioning on January 15th since it was crystal clear that he was the murderer now officers had to determine whether the weapon was fired accidentally or on purpose this will help them decide whether to charge him with intentional homicide or manslaughter but little do officers know that Kenneth is a self-proclaimed CSI graduate who you just saw Kenneth using one of the techniques he probably learned from CSI manipulation on one hand it is likely true that Kenneth had Shady individuals at his home this is because he had known gang affiliations and was often involved with the wrong group of people which also explains his basic firearm knowledge as he most likely learned it from them but on the other hand detectives know his story about giving these men the revolver is a lie as it is an attempt to frame them for the murder this is because detectives already investigated such a scenario and found a picture on his Facebook of him wearing the exact outfit that the murderer had on even if this wasn't a lie it still wouldn't explain the presence of the money and the green mask at his home something that the detective is about to confront Kenneth with very soon part of the evidence that they found yeah what was that gun those bullets yeah some clothes okay they also found um other items in there like a mask a green mask yeah okay where did that green mask come from I I couldn't tell you I swear I couldn't tell you where green mask came from like I said man them them guys man they came back there that night man they was rally up man M they was really you know I mean like they you could tell like when somebody done dead some or something you know I knew they did something I just don't know what they did scientific and a little more specific they don't put all that dramatic stuff in there they got to put the dramatic stuff in there for TV right just keep you interested in watching it right okay there you go and obviously we don't solve things in 60 minutes all right okay it takes us some time but there's a reason why it takes it some time because we only to get things right exactly the things that we do that things like they do is we do the fingerprint stuff and DNA stuff and all that stuff yeah but now now I want to ask you some questions sure of course how's this you still haven't told me how's this leading back to me it is painful to see Kenneth try and talk his way out of this he likely still thinks thinks that there is no concrete evidence against him but this could not be further from the truth as detectives have everything they need to prove he is the murderer and bit by bit you will see him break down as the detective begins to clarify the kind of damning evidence they have the evidence from the robbery was found in your home yeah I know I know I know you so when Milwaukee Police Department calls us and say hey remember that robber you guys had I go yeah he says the clothing the gun the uh mask and other items of evidence that was taken into robbery yeah is found at this house right I says okay so we talk with everybody in the house okay we've talked to everybody in the house all right okay so what everybody been saying we talk to your brothers your sisters okay we can't talk to everybody at once right okay at some point in time it's your turn to talk all right so that's what we're doing here now okay but in the same time we're processing other evidence okay we're processing surveillance videos we're processing the gun okay we're processing the ammunition we're processing everything that was found okay and we're trying to see okay how does this all match up where does this where do this evidence take us okay we look at the surveillance video and we see how things all match up okay it's like a big jigsaw puzzle right okay and when you start putting a puzzle together you don't know exactly but as you get more pieces you get a very clear picture and it fits in okay and what's fitting in is the evidence that our crib is the evidence that your crib but more so is the evidence that you were in on that robbery and walking sh right okay now he has to uphold his end of the deal a full unfiltered confession about what happened so maximum is 20 that's potentially a maximum yes depends on all the circumstances [Music] your side K counts details okay so when you guys were talking about doing this where were you guys at upstairs in her apartment in her room who's her Amanda that Amanda who was all talking about just me and him okay who rid of everything all the evidence that was left in the car it's ironic that Kenneth and his accomplices got rid of everything but the gun mask and money items that were ultimately used to prove he was the killer so who went in first me you did okay and he was right behind you I think he had a gun on you think yeah okay what kind of gun a revolver revolver did you see see him have it out no but he kept trying to get in back of me okay he's going to kill me if I didn't do it okay I know that for sure though okay so it was either a lose or win it was a lose lose situation for me so when you went in there you said you both freaked out how did the the guy me and the guy freaked out that's what I mean yes the guy and the guy meaning the guy behind the counter how did he freak out describe that to me he just got to going crazy how was he screaming yelling you know waving his arms how yeah he's doing all that okay was he saying anything could you tell what he was saying no I couldn't okay what were you saying I wasn't saying nothing I just had to come I was in shock okay and when I show me how you had to come I hold me yeah show me how you were holding it like this you holding with like this like this like this you everybody holds a little different I don't remember but listen I saw him drop the money where did he drop it back there in the counter so I went to go jump over okay I time him I jump over I he he ran but he was coming around okay and he grabbed where did he grab you right here okay by by your coat okay the and then what happened and for a minute I was just in shock like I'm shaking the death mhm and he scaring me this okay the G was in my hand and it went off okay but it was no uh like boom it was uh one of one of these boom okay when you were holding the good was your finger on the trigger the whole time mhm okay but I thought it was safety on there okay what happened after the gun R off what happened to you I jump back there and he he ran out so I'm expecting like he a i a shoot him that's good so he ran out of the store yeah okay guy ran out of the store okay what happened to he wasn't your guy he wasn't nowhere to be found that's he was gone that's what I'm telling you he was he was by the time I run back to the car they pulling up and he said he said I told you I was with you I was going to leave you m but what I wanted to say is you left me sure anything could have happened right What did the what did you do behind the counter I paused I froze up actually I heard the siren okay and that's when I hurry up and look down I grabbed the money and passed it to him he was like you did now like you did it I scared man when you when you grabb the money where was the money somewhere on the floor just was it on the at what point you grab it did you grab it when you I don't remember I I don't remember all that I tell you the truth man I just know trying to get you the best view I know man good Kenneth's confession comes to an end here and detectives shortly leave the room and the moment he is left alone Kenneth falls into what can only be described as pure Despair and regret I'm so sorry Mom just be strong I want you m you got to be strong for me I know all the commitments one of [Music] them was murder another are stealing and there with a few others but only you can forgive me no one else only you can set my soul free only you can help me go to heaven only you can help me change my life well I got to be willing to change in order for you to help me and I'm willing to take that chance right now help me Kenneth went on to speak his truth in court which was obviously going to be far from the truth Kenneth filed a petition seeking a new sentence as he claimed that it was his brother Deontay Stenson who was involved in the robbery this was corroborated by a statement that Deontay himself signed however this proved to be an act as a year later in 2016 Kenneth pled guilty to felony murder which meant that there was malicious intent to murder SED and that this was not done involuntarily consequently he was given 35 years on this murder charge and 10 more in prison because of the multiple robberies on his record including the one that resulted in s's murder as for his accomplice Darren Malone he was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison
