On May 8th, 2026 deputies in Wisconsin got an alert about a stolen vehicle from Illinois cruising up Interstate 41 with a reputation for slipping away from police. The driver, 23-year-old Anthony Wells, briefly played along with a traffic stop before deciding that another interstate escape attempt sounded like a better afternoon plan. Put your hands up. Chicas was also jailed on charges tied to fleeing police reckless endangerment and drug possession offenses. Instead of accepting a traffic stop, the driver treated public roads like a late night video game lobby with real consequences attached. weather clear. He's going to the medium point. Authorities charged him with street racing, reckless driving and fleeing and eluding after investigators said he showed complete disregard for everyone else on the road that night. On March 9th, 2026, Chicago officers were hunting for a white Mercedes connected to an earlier expressway shooting that had already rattled the city. Investigators later identified the driver as 42-year-old Derek Jordan, who allegedly turned an attempted stop in Humbled Park into a violent and fastm moving confrontation. >> Where'd he go? The encounter ended with Jordan being transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he later did not make it while investigators recovered a firearm from inside the Mercedes. The civilian office of Police Accountability continues reviewing the shooting as attorneys for Jordan's family argue officers escalated the situation unnecessarily during the attempted arrest. May 23rd, 2021, Georgia troopers spotted two motorcycles weaving recklessly through Interstate 85 traffic at speeds that sounded more appropriate for a racetrack than downtown Atlanta. One rider vanished from sight, but the second rider, later identified as Tyler Arent, kept the pursuit alive across multiple counties while aviation units tracked him from above. My two motorcycles. >> Yeah, we're 1080 times two. Both motorcycles far left lane. >> You want to stay with one in particular? >> Oh, come on. AD >> still going to be 400. I'm sorry. >> Yeah. We're going to head back to the city, but they're good. >> Arent was eventually taken into custody and turned over to Atlanta police for transport to the Fulton County Jail after the motorcycle pursuit finally ran out of momentum. Officers also recovered a firearm during the arrest, adding another layer to a chase that already had troopers talking like exhausted sports commentators afterward. January 10th, 2026. Tennessee Highway Patrol officers were already chasing a Chevrolet pickup with suspicious plates when Arkansas State Police joined the party near Interstate 55. Investigators soon discovered the truck's tags belonged to an entirely different vehicle, which somehow made the situation even less promising for driver Terry Grant. >> Show me your primary Tennessee boy David Moa 939. We're heading to Broadway right now. TVI TV. TVI. He's still on the road. Did you get a flight? >> Is it on the map? >> He's on Broadway near South >> Broadway. Okay. Street right down the road. Several city units look like they're in route. >> Two GHB units in front of me. I'm third. [screaming] >> Everybody get off the radio. He's got units with him on the radio. Grant surrendered after the pickup was finally ly forced off the roadway and was later identified as driving on a revoked Tennessee license. He was booked on charges including fleeing fictitious license plates and driving while his license was revoked. His bond was set at $250,000. On January 24th, 2021, a Georgia trooper noticed a silver Ford Mustang drifting through its lane with a license plate that belonged to a completely different vehicle. Driver Anthony Cory Swansy initially stopped long enough to make the trooper think the traffic stop might stay peaceful before suddenly flooring it down rural roads 663 1080 cross headed towards silver and colored Mustang. >> We're making a left on this road right here. crossing over State Route One. What's that? >> Uh, maybe. >> Hey, come on. Watch. >> Swans's run ended in the woods after the Mustang crashed off a dead-end road. And he later admitted he fled because his license was suspended and he did not want to lose a new job. He was transported to the Troop County Jail after investigators also learned the vehicle lacked insurance and carried mismatched registration plates. Monday, April 13th, 2026, Milwaukee police were searching for a vehicle connected to a homicide investigation and a separate shots fired incident that had unfolded earlier the same day. Officers later identified the driver as 31-year-old Nicholas Meslowski, who allegedly decided that crashing the vehicle was only the beginning of the confrontation. >> Crash crash crash. Oh, he hit his car pretty good. >> Oh, he's losing control. He's losing control. Crash, crash, crash, crash. Two more spots. 1050. [screaming] >> Fire. We have shots fired in fire. Hey, >> after the crash and exchange of gunfire, Mazlowski was transported to a hospital where he later did not make it while officers recovered multiple firearms from the scene. Investigators also confirmed that another person injured in the collision survived, and records showed Mlowski had only recently been released from prison months earlier. September 24th, 2022, an Arkansas State Police trooper attempted to stop a Tahoe for expired tags and quickly realized the driver had absolutely no intention of making the paperwork easy. The pursuit itself was strangely calm at first with speeds staying relatively low, while the driver casually kept rolling down the highway like traffic laws were merely friendly suggestions. Don't hit your brakes. Are you serious? Speeds are 63. They've had their blinker on. I don't know that it's supposed to be their flash or something. Initial reason for stop was expire tags 31. I'm going to grab your phone and your light so you don't drop it. >> Like I said, you stay chill. You get out of these cuffs. >> The chase ended with the SUV overturned in a ditch and both occupants taken into custody while medics checked them for minor injuries. Investigators later connected driver John Jones to an active warrant and troopers spent the aftermath complaining about the mountain of paperwork now waiting for them back at the office. On May 12th, 2022, a Monroe County sergeant clocked a speeding Toyota entering the Florida Keys and expected a routine traffic stop to follow. Instead, driver Janiah Douglas kept cruising for miles while later insisting she thought the patrol vehicle was simply trying to get through traffic. traffic 47 Abra. Control 15 car. 2043. Yeah, he's going to take care. Douglas eventually ended up in handcuffs while repeatedly worrying about missing work and asking officers to contact both her mother and employer. Deputies arrested her for failing to stop after the pursuit turning what could have been a simple speeding citation into a trip to jail and one unforgettable shift delay. One evening, a heavily intoxicated man decided the best possible use of a public sidewalk was screaming at officers who were already busy handling another situation nearby. Sergeant Canberg spent several painfully patient minutes, asking the man to simply back away while the man instead treated the encounter like an audition for worst decision maker of the night. >> That's right. >> Don't put your hands out. >> Actually, you're the me. You're under arrest. >> Put your arms out to the side, sir. >> That's right. >> You're under arrest. Hey, Kelly, just stay on the line. Okay, >> please stay on the line. Stay online. >> The situation finally ended with officers placing the man under arrest after repeated threats and aggressive behavior toward law enforcement. Even after being taken to the ground, he continued yelling while officers worked to safely secure him and clear the scene without further escalation. April 20th, 2022, Arkansas State Police troopers found themselves chasing suspects who apparently believed hiding in a bank drive-thru was a solid escape strategy. The pursuit pushed past 113 mph before troopers closed the gap and reminded everyone involved that Arkansas highways are not ideal places for disappearing acts. in the middle 15 to central. Can you guys work on getting our channels back? Heat. Heat. 214 continuing on service roads are 30 mph. garage parking lot. You got around the parking lot. >> I got fast. Thought you didn't get away, didn't you? Stand up. >> Difference is we're Arkansas State Police. >> Try that again. We got to follow those in custody. >> Once the suspects were detained, troopers began searching nearby areas for anything that may have been tossed from the vehicle during the chase. Investigators also suspected the car could have been carrying narcotics, while officers joked afterward that the suspects clearly underestimated who was chasing them. April 18th, 2025, police in Los Angeles began pursuing a white Ford Mustang tied to a possible domestic violence and kidnapping investigation out of Hollywood. The suspect spent the morning darting across freeways, driving into oncoming traffic, and making every commuter in West Los Angeles question why they even left home that day. Vehicle could spin out. It could run into another car. It's just so dangerous for the general public cuz we're still seeing speeds extremely high. I would say 60 70 miles an hour as we make our way to the end of the 90 freeway here. I think we're going to hit Lincoln in a moment if I'm not mistaken. And the vehicle is going to become very difficult to control trying to swerve in and out of traffic. Uh we just hope that some innocent person doesn't get hurt here. And now backing up trying to go around the big rig. Uh certainly there's a patrol car right behind this individual. We haven't seen the car hit another vehicle yet, but certainly they've come so close and they're desperate to get away. So, it's almost inevitable if this continues, the suspect is going to run into another vehicle. Oh, might be in the might. Yeah, I thought for a minute there maybe it was that wouldn't be able to move any further, but the suspect has stopped. Uh, we're at the end of the 90 freeway right before Lincoln, and you can see officers behind their open doors for protection. They have their weapons out, and right now they're just trying to see if they can't get the suspect out of that vehicle [music] uh without incident. They're trying to get other traffic diverted so no one's in harm's way if the suspect would come out and possibly ar be armed and this ended up in a shootout. They want to make sure the area is as safe as possible. But right now, they're waiting for the suspect to get out of that vehicle. And once again, it's a domestic violent suspect, possibly uh involved with a kidnapping and it sounds like uh reports are that they believe a female in the passenger seat. So, we really don't know exactly what's going on inside that vehicle right now, but they're certainly hoping they can get the individuals out of there without incident here because it's extremely dangerous. Guns are drawn, CHP and LAPD officers right behind the vehicle. Absolutely. I mean, that obviously the suspect is desperate, the driver, and anytime you hear someone maybe reaching under the seat, there you go. Open up the door. I was going to try and come around with the helicopter and look through the front windshield, but you do have the suspect exiting the driver and it appears at this point in time he is communicating with officers behind him. We hope that he continues to come out of that vehicle without making any uh you know threats towards officers. That's the real concern. If the suspect would have a weapon, wouldn't obey the officers, and they have to open fire and then you have some innocent person inside that vehicle, their life is in jeopardy as well. So, an extremely dangerous situation as the standoff continues right at the end of the 90 freeway. Uh hopefully the suspect will continue to obey the officer's commands, but right now he's out of the vehicle looking at officers, and you can see all the officers there with their guns drawn. Uh we hope this does not escalate. Yep. Yeah, he's coming out of the vehicle again. Correct. Here we go. Hopefully. No, very aggressive towards the officers. Um, in a situation like this, if they had a canine, they could let the canine go if they don't believe he has a weapon. But you can see the movements he's making towards the officers. We believe we believe so. But if he gets far enough away from the vehicle and they don't believe he's armed and the officers will either they'll rush him and take him out if they don't see that he's armed because they want that person that may be in that vehicle to be safe. But it looks like there they go. Exactly what I said they would do and they've done it. They've just rushed him. They have him now. They can open up that other door if they can get it unlocked. they can get that woman if it is a female in there out and they pretty much well it's locked. It has to be unlocked from the inside. They're trying as best they can but it's not easy when you're trying to subdue a suspect who's fighting you. Uh so it does look like they have her out safely and it does now appear that they have the suspect in custody. So something that we watched that certainly could have went south and [snorts] been extremely dangerous and could have hurt a lot of people has now ended. The suspect is in custody. Uh they're treating the woman. They're talking to the woman, at least at this po point in time, evaluating her, and the suspect is now in custody. And that's what what I was saying. Once the suspect got far away enough from the vehicle, and they believed he did not have a weapon. They're not going to rush him if he has a gun in his hand, but he didn't. They had the opportunity to rush him, and it worked out perfectly. >> The standoff finally ended in Marina del Rey after officers rushed the suspect and safely pulled both him and a female passenger from the vehicle. Authorities continued investigating the relationship between the pair while officers shut down major roads and sorted through a scene that could have ended far worse for everyone involved. On May 10th, 2025, Washington State Patrol troopers spotted a speeding vehicle flying across Interstate 5 near Seattle's Ship Canal Bridge in the early morning darkness. Seconds later, the driver caused a multi-vehicle crash, lost a tire, and still somehow decided the situation called for an escape attempt on foot from a 100 ft bridge. >> 453 Seattle attempting to stop the vehicle.
