We'll sort it out. >> I will give the names to who? Okay, >> give her your name for a second. Start with your Do you have a middle name? >> We'll figure it out. Okay, we'll figure it out. >> A stolen car. >> We'll figure it out. He might have misspoke. We'll look into it. He might have misspoke. >> A stolen car. >> We'll figure it out. Mariah, what's your middle name? Perfect. All right, just give me one second. Let me touch base with a couple of my partners. Okay. >> A stolen car. We'll figure it out. No, no, not right now. >> Mariah was taken to the Milwaukee County Jail after officers secured her and searched the Mustang. Investigators found 18 aluminum foil bindles that later tested positive for fentinel. She was ultimately found guilty of fleeing or eluding an officer, resulting in bodily harm or property damage and operating a vehicle without the owner's consent, receiving 4 years in prison, 5 years of extended supervision, and $7,785 in restitution. April 2nd, 2024, an afternoon pursuit involving a reported stolen pickup truck moved through Alhhamra, California as the driver continued traveling recklessly through residential streets. The pursuit eventually drew attention after the suspect abandoned the truck and attempted to escape on foot on Commonwealth Street at 7. You see the vehicle is slowing for traffic. That's a good sign. There's no vehicles behind him and at least for now, Philip, the uh pursuit for the most part had been cancelled. You see that patrol car going by, but the air unit was canceled. CHP was canceled. If Alhamra PD is going to hop on this, we're still not sure. Uh, but certainly the suspect is [music] driving pretty erratically in some situations up to about 80 miles an hour. >> So, Scott, I heard you mention Alhamra PD. Do you believe that they have re-engaged or they're just kind of monitoring or was that just something that you saw? >> No, they're on them now. I can see it out the window and you'll see in a moment, but there's a PD car coming pretty quick right behind him. Now, open up a little bit, Marcel. I we saw him top of your screen there's the Alhamra PD unit I believe and then you see the suspect. So there's two of them now. I don't see an air unit overhead but they have engaged here. Uh the suspect is uh on Garfield Avenue headed southbound down back towards the 710. And now you see two patrol cars right behind him. And we do have some activity up ahead. Looks like maybe some construction or signal light that is stopped and some vehicles there. So, it'll see how the suspect drives in that type of situation when we come up on to stop traffic, but we've seen him take up pretty evasive maneuvers to try and get away. And now, Alhammer PD is right behind him. It looks like they figure they should be behind this guy and see if they can't get him to pull over and stop this. Looks like the patrol cars in the area here backed off for the moment. Um, so >> backed off or do you think maybe they've just pulled off to the side? Look at that. Well, they backed off in as much as they stopped following him. They were right behind him and they decided not to do that any longer. >> Um whether they backed off like they're not going to follow this at all any longer, I don't believe that is the case. But what they did was the patrol car that was right on his tail has decided uh you know supervisor told him that's enough of that I guess and they decided you know let this guy go. It's more dangerous to be right behind him. And uh >> when he comes into these inter >> when he comes into those intersections when there's those uh it looks like drainage ditches or whatever if he he he his rear wheels nearly popped up off of the ground in one of them and that that was right when the officers stop because he did like right in there. I think that might be one if he when he hits those going straight he runs the risk of losing control of the vehicle because he's hitting them at about 60 miles an hour and they're not meant for that >> through the gas station there. Yeah, there was a patrol car right there and he decided to just take off and get out of his way. So, it it appears to me Alhamra's decided we're backing off. We're not going to stay behind this guy. I believe an air unit is in route. Um vehicles now, >> somebody's house. I mean, this is a >> congested area and they you know, you're you're potentially [music] causing some significant harm or damage or injury. Uh so, yeah, I'm I'm every time we've seen [music] it, it's just it seems like he approaches the intersections too fast to try to pit him. And even if they did pit him [music] in those moments, it looks like it could cause more harm than anything else. And but then again, here you have this >> where he is navigating traffic and now he's stuck. >> It went into a dead end area. Yeah. And this we'll see if he makes a run for it. Backs out. Now the strategy though, you know, if you had a patrol car right behind him, this would be over. >> Yeah. >> You'd have three patrol cars parked there. It wouldn't be over, but he might try and run. Oh boy, look at this guy. Is this guy have any idea that this truck's being pursued? I wonder or it's just like hey I'm pulling in here. Get out of my way. >> Um it's it's hard to say. Oh and he knocked over just knocked over a power pole. >> Yeah. There's a power pole. I can't see if there's tele but and now he's going in front of that tree to try and get back on the street. So this guy's desperate to get away. And there's a patrol car. >> Yeah. Boy. Almost got him right there. Philip, I think if he'd have been able to hit the back of that vehicle, we could have had it stopped. Well, that was either either a [music] telephone pole or it was probably not a power pole. You're right. But it did look like it was the wire. It hit the wires that were above that [music] might have been phone >> travel south. So, it'll be interesting to see how they decide to handle this. But they certainly don't have near as many units in the area as they had earlier. >> Well, they you know what one of the things that I saw when he got stuck in that parking lot was how quickly there was an officer there. So they're, as you mentioned, they're not necessarily right behind him, but they're in the neighborhood and they're able to get to him quickly, but look at these these turns he's making. He's picking up speed again. Uh the vehicle is going to be damaged. Uh you can't really see it, but when he the way he hit that pole, I did see a bit of a wrinkle maybe on the side panel. Uh but but but underneath it's it's going he's going to have some damage to that vehicle, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the way the the truck is handling at all. >> Wow. Look at that. up onto the sidewalk and you wonder why there's nobody behind him. There was a truck in the way at that intersection up in front of these homes and then content to stay on the sidewalk and not get right onto the street and now turn back to the north. So, boy, you know, just in the last couple of minutes, the driving has gotten extremely erratic. And I think they may take that into consideration, Philip. You know, we had the patrol cars behind the vehicle and they decided to back off. But now with no one behind the vehicle, he seems to be more aggressive and driving at a higher rate of speed. So they may start to change their strategy a little bit and say they got to get around. Aren't even right behind him. He the erratic behavior is just [music] something that we can't figure out what he's doing because nobody was chasing and yet he drove down a sidewalk and through the grass and if somebody had just happened to be coming out of that house or that apartment at the time, it could have been met with tragic consequences. Yeah, it's been extremely dangerous from time to time. The suspect driving at high rates of speed right through some of these intersections and uh streets here that uh where there are homes and a residential area. So, I'm go right by a bicyclist. There's a lot of folks out. You know, such a gorgeous day. To be outside right now is just so wonderful. Some kids are out on spring break as you mentioned. And we had it going the suspect going at extremely high rate of speed for absolutely no reason it seemed. Now, we stopped for a moment. This has happened about three or four times in the past. We sort of speculated that maybe he's doing that to see if there's any patrol cars behind him. If anybody actually comes up behind him because he stops for a little bit and then he takes off. There's a bicyclist going by. Took a look at the guys like, "Why are you stopped in the street?" I wouldn't think that he would know that this individual is being pursued because there's no patrol cars around. And as I look around, there's no patrol cars headed this way right now. LA County has a helicopter overhead. So they have radioed in exactly where this individ I I I would totally agree with you. You can't second guess law enforcement because this is a good idea generally to just back off because most of these suspects settle down, drive safely, and eventually just get rid of the vehicle and go back to, you know, feeling like they can get away. Uh, but this person unfortunately has not really decided to drive safely. Were those >> incoming motorcycle lanes >> officers there on the side there >> that he just drove by? >> Officer there. That was the spot where he backed up into that telephone pole that we just saw a moment ago. So that gives you an idea. He's just staying in the exact same place. I mean, within three or four blocks, he's been through the three or four blocks, I would say, you know, at least half a dozen, if not a dozen times now, coming past all the same homes. So, if he knows this area, uh, you know, who knows at this point in time, uh, but law enforcement still is content to just completely back off on this individual and, uh, you know, as you mentioned, hopefully makes a run for it, just gets out of the vehicle, and then there would >> The suspect was detained after leaving the reported stolen vehicle while a man from the neighborhood appeared to intervene and pull him away from a woman who had been hugging him. The woman was also taken into custody, although her role in the incident remained unclear in the available information. On March 19th, 2024, Arkansas State Trooper Brady P. Sunday, August 14th, 2022, deputies in Georgia were searching for an Orange Dodge Challenger that had been reported stolen near Gross Lake Parkway.
