16 for five. >> WHAT YOU DOING? THIS IS NOT RIGHT. >> I HAVE ASTHMA AND I STOP. That's not what [laughter] you >> picking me. So against anyone is what you guys say. That's what it sounds like. Yeah. >> And that's that's uh >> Can you tell him to let me go? You should have seen how he did me and I'm pregnant. Look at him grabbing me. Get off of me. >> These shoplifterss thought they had gotten away the moment they left the parking lot. But they were wrong. No matter how far they ran or how hard they resisted, they couldn't escape the consequences of their actions. There are the [music] times when cops catch shoplifterss acting innocent outside Walmart. Good day and welcome back to This is Law. If this is your first time here, don't forget to like and subscribe. Now, take a sip and let's enjoy. Next, this woman believed the police would take the word of a shoplifter over the evidence. >> Why am I being arrested? >> Why am I being arrested? >> M. But you're not hearing me. I literally I'm telling you right now I'm telling you right now nobody nobody >> on the 27th of June 2026 officers received a report that a group of suspects had fled a Rule King store after committing a theft. Police quickly stopped their vehicle as they attempted to drive to another store. Before that officers had responded to Rule King to investigate what had happened based on the employees statements. >> I'll show you the card that they got. >> Okay. Do you have like a receipt or something that has everything that >> No, cuz they when they they went through the line and they bring everything up and they're like the guy was like >> I'm going to go ahead and push it on out and the lady stayed back and then she couldn't pay for it so the transaction didn't go through. >> So, uh were you able to [groaning] to like write out everything that was in the cart cuz you got the cart, right? >> Yeah, I've got the cart. So, are uh are you like as Ro King wouldn't press charges for it? >> Um I'm sure we will. >> Okay. >> Because >> Yeah, we just we just got to ask, you know. Um yeah. So, if there is a way, um this is what you gave dispatch. >> They ran it and it didn't come back to anything. So, uh if there if you do have that on video and you're able to see the license plate any better, uh I don't know if maybe there's a digit missing or just what, but uh >> that's the oldest trick in the book. I can't believe Chris. >> I'm just saying. >> All right. [snorts] >> You said it was a male. >> A male and a female. >> The male pushed the card out while the female was standing back to pay and he was driving the >> Did you look through the video yet to see what time they actually came into the store? >> Not yet. He's just happened [clears throat] right when we called. >> Yep. >> Two ladies. That's They trying that like 8 months ago. >> Same same two ladies. >> Oh, you're familiar with >> Yep. They The organized retail theft group consisting of two women and one man fled in a white car. Just 1 hour later, police caught them. They immediately denied everything. >> What did I What do I do? Why am I arrested? Hello. Why am I being arrested? >> Why am I being arrested? >> Stop talking. We'll talk about >> We'll talk about it in just a minute. >> What did I do? >> You didn't buy anything. >> Stop. >> Pulling your hands back. >> We'll talk about it in just a moment. >> Cuz you won't shut up. >> Why are you being ignorant me? >> Just shut up. It's easy. >> You got anything on your person? Anything like that? >> No narcotics, guns, knives, dead bodies. >> You want to talk? >> Okay. I'm sorry. Okay. Okay. I'm sorry. Okay. So, first off, do you have anything illegal on your >> No. >> No. >> No. >> Okay. Do you have pockets on this? >> No. >> No. Okay. Place the vehicle real quick. I'm just going to You really don't have nothing to do. >> Do you understand these rights? >> Yeah. Am I arrested right now? But I do. What did I do? >> But Okay. So, >> listen. I'm working. >> I'm I'm working with the [ __ ] police. Please don't give me >> Hey, if you want to walk into your vehicle, we're going to take her back here real quick so she can talk to >> No, listen. We're at least away from our vehicle right now. >> He's got some questions. >> They separated each suspect for questioning. Instead of admitting she had stolen the merchandise and fled after employees recovered it, she told the story in a completely different way. >> Nobody stealing nothing from I literally walked out there with him and we got the stuff and I gave it to him and I said, "Here, just keep it. We're going to go because the lady that was at the front desk pissed me off so bad being rude to me that I didn't want to stay in that store." Like, I get it. Judge me all you want for my history, but I'm literally trying to not be a bad person. Okay, >> I'm telling you the honesty god's truth. >> Okay, now the problem is you left the final point of sale. >> I did not. I did not. And that lady knew that that that I need to go get my stuff from him and he was coming out with me. So, how am I in trouble for what the employee told me to do? >> Okay. Well, the employees have a different story. Okay. >> Can we please watch the camera? >> You are on camera going outside with the >> I didn't have the merchandise with me. Number one, she walked out. Number two, I walked out to go. I'm telling you right now, can we please go there and talk to this lady? She That's what happened. That old that old guy, the cashier. That's what happened. I walked out, watched the cameras. I watched I walked and walked and grabbed her. >> I mean, I walked and did. I swear to God. >> Did you watch the cameras? I didn't talk to everybody. >> Please. I swear to No, I swear to God that's watched. You didn't watch the cameras then because I walked and literally got the stuff and grabbed it and gave the cart back to the dude. If you watch the cameras, I gave him the cart and I said, "Have a nice day. I don't want it anymore." Cuz that lady was ignorant. >> Not how that works. >> What? She didn't know that it wasn't paid for yet. I didn't know she walked outside with the [ __ ] until I realized that and she said something. >> What's your first name? >> Christine Williams. and literally how I'm under arrest for something I didn't do. >> It's hard to believe anything coming from seasoned retail theft suspects. She didn't have any evidence to support her story and even began blaming the officers for not listening to her. >> For not stealing it. >> M. But you're not hearing me. I literally I'm telling you right now. I'm telling you right now. Nobody Nobody stole anything. You're not listening. They're not listening. >> You want to You want to talk to them? >> They're not listening to me. Them They're not listening on the camera. Okay. I didn't know. I didn't know that she walked out. >> I didn't know that she w But I'm telling you the truth. Listen, I'm on the income. I'm not going to jail for something I didn't do. >> Okay. So So we walked I She walked out. I didn't know that she walked out the [ __ ] Okay. Until I was busy figuring out how to pay for it like I was supposed to. Okay. So when she So when she uh went outside, I told him I need to go get her to go get the stuff. So we walked out to go get the stuff. I stopped her as she was putting the last thing in the car and I grabbed the cart and I gave it back to dude as the as the lady in the red red vest was on. So if you watch the camera, that's what happened. >> Sure. That's what happened. How are we arrested for stealing something we didn't take? >> Right. I understand. So, and that and I understand. >> So, how am I arrested? >> Listen, I'll explain to you. Okay. So, the problem is is when you left the store without it being paid for, >> I didn't leave the store without being paid for. I did not walk the mirror since I saw the store. How am I being arrested for something I didn't do? No, she washed the car out >> and then you know that it didn't go through. And then >> I went and got her, >> right? And then left in the car. >> I went and got I didn't leave in the car. I I gave him the merchandise back, >> but I gave them the I gave him the car back. >> Pass the point of sale with any merch. >> They're getting me arrested on a fluke. Are you kidding me? I have an ankle monitor. I didn't steal nothing. >> Please, please. I didn't steal anything. Question. [laughter] What were you guys doing? >> We were just walking around looking for something. >> We didn't steal anything, though. Nobody stole anything. >> Taking a car. >> Meanwhile, another officer questioned the second woman. She gave a nearly identical story as if they had agreed on it beforehand. >> And can you explain to me what happened there? >> Okay. The same thing I just told him right what was it and she was getting a couple things and she was checking out. I thought it was already she had already had paid for the stuff that went through and I walked off cuz I said I was going to look at the reion buckets right there in the front cuz I was I need one for my yard. And so I'm standing there and she comes up to me and she says, "Uh, you need to bring the cart back." The girl I'm with. And so I brought as I was bringing the cart back there was a guy little [music] guy that was walking towards me [music] too and um some woman was screaming in the work and really I can't make out a whole lot crappy [ __ ] or something like that. I don't know exactly, but anyway, um the guy took the cart and I'm like, "What's going on?" And she's like, the girl, she's like, "I'll explain it later." And uh I'm like, "What what is it? What's she screaming about?" You know, and uh she's like, "I don't know." She just flicked on me in the side inside there. And I'm like she she's like, "I'll talk." She just threw her hands up and said, "I'll just talk about it later." And I'm like, "Okay, well, I need to come to Walmart, you know, to get some things." She said, she did, too. >> The man was questioned next. He appeared completely unaware of what had happened, and his version of events seemed to tell a different story. >> So, what what was the deal with Ro King? >> Ro King? I don't know. I They asked they asked me if I take the roll king. They had to get some feed for a dog or something like that. And uh then uh they came out and they didn't have anything. They had they had like a basket and they she just pushed the basket away. We met got into it with one of the ladies there or whatever. >> I was like, "Okay." And she said, "Well, can you go by Walmart?" She said, "We got to go by there and get a couple things from there." And I sat out here for like, I don't know, 30, 35 minutes. It seemed like waiting on them to come outside and they just come out and then this >> Okay, I got you. Do you have any idea why they didn't have anything at Rule King? >> I have no clue. I didn't even ask. I was like, you guys argue with the lady and I figured it was just discrepancy or something or I don't know. to her. >> Did you see the cart that they wheeled out and then gave back? >> I didn't I didn't pay no attention to that. I was on my phone. >> Okay. Well, well, basically, you're going to be leaving here alone today. Okay. Both those females are going to be going with us. >> Okay. >> And you're going to be leaving. >> What did they take? I mean, >> uh right around $600 to $700 worth of items. >> Holy [ __ ] >> That were not paid for. So, that that's why all this started. >> That's why we're here. >> So, bear with me. Sit there a little bit longer. We'll be right back with you. Thank you. >> You tried to get out the door with a $900 lawn mower. >> Really? >> Just now. Uh she said she didn't have no receipt. Her girlfriend. >> Yeah. Would you be able to talk to asset protection? >> In the end, the two women were charged with organized retail theft while the man was released without charges. Shortcuts taken for quick gain often lead to lasting consequences. In the end, no coordinated story can outweigh the facts. And every dishonest choice carries a price that is far greater than the reward. Even more strangely, this teenage girl didn't appear to be fully aware of what was going on. >> Things in your bag you weren't going to pay for. >> No, I was going to pay for it. >> You were? >> Yes, I was. I swear on my body donuts and doing my hair and doing my nails. I didn't steal nothing. My boyfriend's buying me stuff later. On the 27th of May 2026, police received a call from a store reporting that a woman named Victoria had been shoplifting. To learn more about what happened, officers arrived at the scene and spoke with a store employee. >> What did this look like? >> Oh, that was me. >> No, the one that supposedly took the uh >> What did she look like? >> Yes. >> She had like reddish pinkish hair, black skirt. >> So, black skirt. Cuz I saw some girl with like a leopard almost like a leopard print. >> Yes. Yes. With leopard shoes. >> Leopard shoes. long like bag like saggy bag. >> Okay, I'm sorry. What did she take? >> She took Well, she tried to at least I got it back from her. She tried to take this and she took this dress and put the hanger back over here. So, this I she watched her put this in the bag and then I saw the polka dot dress in her purse and I said, "That's my I was like, that's my dress in your bag." And she's like, "No, it's mine." >> Okay. >> So, then I was like, "Let me see your bag or I'll literally call the cops." >> All right. And but I was scared of her to be in here before like like calling you guys that she was in here cuz I don't know what she's going to do. So then I was just like >> I think I know who it is. >> I said just please don't come back. I said and she said can I buy it? I said no you're just not allowed to come back in here. >> Okay. I think I know. >> Soon after officers responded to a Dollar General after receiving information that Victoria had been seen there. As soon as they approached her, she remained completely calm as if she had already prepared an excuse for herself. >> Hi. Did anyone come in here recently? >> That's the bathroom. >> Hi Victoria. Hi. >> Come with me. >> Okay. >> All right. Listen to me. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you could say can use against you in a court of law. You have a right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, you won't be provided to. Do you understand your rights? What happened at Tik >> at here? >> No. Trey Chic. >> Oh, I um I told her I told her I was going to buy buy it. I put in my purse and I was going to look for my credit card in my purse, but then she thought I was going to steal it, but I wasn't. And I told her I put it in here cuz I don't like to hold it. And then I was going to ask if she could cut my hair. And then she was like, "No, you're not allowed here." My friend said he's going to buy it for me later. He said, "Just go home. I'll buy you what?" >> So my friend's going to come later and buy it for me. But I'm not allowed in there anymore. But I didn't steal nothing. I let her check my purse. I let her check my purse. She said, "Next time you come, I'm calling the police." And I said, "Okay." >> That's not the story that I got. >> Yeah. >> Oh, but I She checked my purse. She said, "Next time." >> Yeah. >> You put the two things in there. >> She said, "Next time I I told you I was going to buy it." And she said, "No, you're not allowed back." >> She completely ignored what the officers were saying, repeatedly telling her own story to avoid the issue. Even when they asked her direct questions, her answers never addressed the point. >> And you put two things in your bag. I told my friend cuz I had >> Hold on. Don't Don't talk. Listen. You went You put two things in your bag. You weren't going to pay for it. >> No, I was going to pay for it. >> You weren't? >> Yes, I was. I swear on my body. >> And that's why she said, "Give me your purse or I'm pulling the car." >> I have a credit card in here. I was going to I hear a look. I was going to I was going to buy it. >> Come see here. This is a gift card. >> I thought I could buy it with that. >> You felt wrong. That's for live bread. >> Well, I called my boyfriend. He said he's going to buy me it later. He said, "Just go home." I was I was walking to Dunkin Donuts because my mom gave me this credit card for Dunkin Donuts. This look, I'll show you. My mom gave me this for Dunkin Donuts money. See, I have >> Okay, we're not talking about Dunkin Donuts. >> I was walking there. >> The um >> my friend told me just go home. But I mean, she said next time I go, she's going to call the cops. So, I wasn't going to go, but I was going to pay for it. I told her and my I even called my boyfriend after he said he's going to get it for me. >> Okay, hold on. Fine. >> They said if I go back again, they're going to call the cops. So, I'm not going back. I wanted them to give me a um a haircut called the wolf haircut, like where it makes your hair like wolfy. It's called butterfly or wolf. >> At this point, officers arrested the suspect and took her into custody for further investigation at headquarters. However, the items found in her bag also raised even more suspicion among the officers. >> What's the bag >> on the ground? >> Where's my mom going to take you? >> I have it. I got her information while I was wait. I said wait. >> Is my mom going to get you? >> You could walk out of there if you want for all >> of where? >> Out of headquarters. >> You're going to be charged for the attack. >> Yep. Hold on, >> Victoria. >> Yes. I didn't take >> Do you have any needles in here? >> No, I don't do drugs. >> You don't do drugs. >> No, I of course I stopped. That's why I replaced it with thorn and duck donuts and doing my hair and doing my nails. I didn't steal nothing. My boyfriend's buying me stuff later. >> Did you just buy all this here? >> No, I bought it another store. >> What store? from on when I was at Walgreens with my boyfriend. >> When? >> Yesterday. >> Yesterday. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, when we go in there and check the cameras, this stuff's not going to be here. >> No. >> Cuz I know they sell this. >> Okay. >> Don't Don't play the game. >> I'm not because if we go in there, he's going to check. >> If you just took it, just tell me now cuz I don't want to waste my own time. >> Victor. Victor, you're obviously deflecting from us cuz when I came around the corner to speak to you, the first thing you say is, "I'm looking for the bathroom and you and you look like, you know, you look like a like a little child that, you know, did something that wasn't supposed to." That that's like the look that you had on your face. We're going to go in there. We're going to we're going to ask the guy and we're going to see if these things are So, did you take them? >> They they might sell them there, but I didn't >> Did you take them here or not? >> They have They have surveillance there. >> I know, but I didn't. You going to make me do the leg work of go looking through all that crap? >> She refused to admit any wrongdoing despite the growing evidence against her. Even more arrogantly, she admitted she had considered confessing just to get the officers to move on. >> Maybe I just said that to say it. Maybe I just said that to say it. >> I didn't take nothing. I just said that so we could go. >> I didn't take nothing. >> No, I didn't. I said because so we could go. 945 Master 104. >> Can you play music? >> I'm going to I'm going to take her in. >> Uh-oh. Am I going to jail? >> Am I going to jail? >> No. >> Okay. Does this You guys sell all this stuff? >> Yes. >> Yeah. Did you know if she >> No one bought that today? >> No one bought that today. >> Yeah. >> Okay. But you definitely sell all this. Could you show me over there? Okay. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Excuse me. >> Please. >> Thank you. >> Keep going. Keep going. >> Keep going. >> Uh-oh. >> See that that soap dispenser right there? Face that. >> Right here. >> Right. Right here. Face that. >> Uh, I can call and ask. >> You don't have to search me. I could take off all my I mean I don't have no drugs. I don't have that. >> You can put the K9 dogs. >> Victoria. >> Yeah. >> He He's just asking. That's That's all. If you're okay with him searching, you can search. >> I don't like a guy searching. >> Okay, no problem. >> I don't like when you >> I get it. >> Especially when they hold you down and put you in this like those crazy things. One time a man bruised me because he thought he had to put his leg on me. And I'm starting to remember people more cuz I stopped playing drugs. >> Good. I'm glad. What were you trying to steal for? You just wanted new clothes. >> I thought it was such a cute dress and my my boyfriend's buying it from me. >> Okay. What's your boyfriend's name again? I feel like I met him before. >> I got a new boyfriend. His name is Connor. Okay. >> It was not Edwin, guys. >> In the end, Victoria was charged with retail theft. This case shows that avoiding responsibility only makes a bad situation worse. Every excuse weakens credibility, while [music] honesty is the first step toward earning trust again. Next, this woman acted completely confused after learning that she had been permanently banned from every Walmart. >> They came up to me out of nowhere saying, "I'm banned. I don't understand why you guys. This is not fair." I told her she needed I'm Sierra. We look just alike. LIKE, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO DO RIGHT NOW. On the 8th of June 2026, police were dispatched to the loss prevention office after staff detained a suspect for alleged shoplifting. As soon as officers approached, she denied everything, causing the situation to become tense immediately. >> I didn't do anything wrong. >> All right, >> I got a sign to make it so I didn't do anything wrong. I don't know what they're talking about. I was never banned from here. >> Oh my god. I didn't do anything wrong. >> I'M JUST HERE SHOPPING TO BRING MY SON. >> All right, real quick. What's your name? >> Sierra. >> Sierra. Okay. It sounds like you have an unserved order of protection, so we got to get that taken care of. Okay. >> I didn't do anything wrong. I'm confused. Okay. >> In fact, officers searched Walmart's system for the woman's information and discovered that she had already been trespassed from the store. They then confronted her about it. >> So, it sounds like you've been trespassed from previous Walmarts and they put it nationwide, meaning you can't go to any Walmart. >> Have you been trespassed from another Walmart before? >> No. >> No. Okay. Could you tell me why it's entered in their system then? >> Someone tried to use me or something. I don't know. I've never been banned. >> Okay. That's what they have on their computer. So that's what we're here for. It sounds like you have an uncert order order protection. So we got to get that taken care of. Get you some paperwork. Okay. >> I never say I've never been banned. Exactly. I don't get it. >> It's just entered into our system. >> Yeah. >> The only thing is the order of protection. >> Yep. That's it. >> Yeah. I'll ask once the law of engineering gets back. Someone say they were coming with you. >> If I can't come back, I get that. >> Say they were coming with the form. >> Yeah. Yeah. They they just coming. >> If I can't come back, I get that. But they never told me that. >> Sierra, if I would have never came here. >> Can I Can I explain something to you real quick? So, it looks like it's nationwide. So, we're going >> I can never go to Walmart again. Like, this is what I thought. >> So, you're going to be trespassed from this Walmart as well. So, you do have a unserved order of protection. We got to get you the paperwork for that. And then once we do all that, it sounds like after that, you're going to be free to go. But we do have to get all the paperwork sorted. It's going to take a little bit of time. >> So I can't stop at any Walmart. This is what you guys are doing. >> That's what it sounds like. Yeah. >> And that's that's uh you know something they've enacted. I mean they have your picture flagged in all Walmarts but it's you >> Janetta Bennett. >> No. >> How do you how do you spell it? >> C I E R R A. >> Who's Janetta Bennett? You have no tell me you have nothing with your name on it. >> Nothing. Show me something in your >> I don't have anything. I have all my money. I don't have nothing. You have nothing. Put your name on. >> Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Just my money. Nothing. I have nothing. I don't have the lie. >> I don't have the lie. >> Your friend mentioned something about the Montgomery location. Can you tell me what happened there? >> Yeah, but it was they just walked up on us and told us, "Oh, you guys can't be here. That same thing happened there. I don't understand what's going on, but they never told me I couldn't come here." >> She continuously denied every accusation against her. But after calling her mother, the truth came out. >> This is my mom. God, >> they don't believe me. They don't understand. My name is C. That's why I said I just be honest. When I went to Walmart and they came up to me and stuff, I told them that it was my sister so that I wouldn't get banned. But it I don't know WHAT FOR. LIKE I don't know. >> Okay. You need >> So you gave them your sister's name this last time? >> Before last time I got in trouble for like >> Exactly. >> Okay. Well, we're trying to figure out what's going on right now. What's your sister's name? >> Shenita. >> Shenita. Okay. >> Mom, could you tell them my name, my birthday, and everything? >> It's okay. We don't need to talk to her right now. >> Hey, buddy. >> They came up to me out of nowhere saying I'm banned. I don't understand why you guys. That's not fair. How am I not able TO GO TO EVERY WALMART CUZ IT WAS STUPID. What's not fair is you're using off your sister's name and name. We don't have no idea. >> I know. I got in trouble for that. >> So, understand from our perspective, we don't know you from from right. We don't we never met you before. So, when we're getting different names and they have all this information here on the >> I was just Okay. So, just relax. It'll be okay. >> Sending it to you. >> I don't understand what I did wrong. I'M BEING HONEST WITH YOU GUYS. >> We've explained what's going on. >> I don't understand what's going on. >> We have to confirm a few things. Okay. Like what? I don't understand. How you just going to walk up on me out of nowhere and just tell me I'm do nothing? >> Okay, Sierra, we we told you we need to figure out what's going on. We're verifying a few things. >> Okay, >> Sierra, my me and MY SISTER LOOK JUST ALIKE. YOU CARE ON THE PHONE? LIKE, WHAT the what is your And what is your sister? >> Chenita. >> Chenita. >> She then tried to claim that her sister was the one who had violated the trespass order, not her. Her emotions only escalated from there, but officers soon discovered multiple inconsistencies in her story. >> So, the reason if you could move your hair back, what we're trying to do is we're trying to figure >> I'M RIGHT HERE. THAT'S I DON'T UNDERSTAND. I'M >> OKAY. >> MY SISTER, SHE NEEDED IT. I'M SIERRA. WE LOOK JUST ALIKE. LIKE, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO DO RIGHT NOW. >> LISTEN, we're not doing a hard time. I just WANT TO GO HOME. LIKE, >> MY SON IS WITH MY MOM RIGHT now and I'm just I don't know what's going on. Like >> well we've explained a couple times. We're just trying to figure out because we're trying to see if there's some sort of issue with the picture. >> There's not I'm Sierra. >> Okay. >> I'm Sierra. WHAT DO I HAVE TO LIE ABOUT? NO. OH, THAT'S MY SISTER. I didn't get her on the phone. Like I don't >> I don't have to lie. >> She's going to >> That's my sister. Mom, can you show my mom? >> Did you show my mom? Like literally that's my sister. How y'all going TO JUST MIX ME UP? That's my sister. >> You think this one? >> All right. Can you lift your head up one more time? Pull your hair out of your face. [sighs] >> Okay. >> Do you have a piercing? >> No. >> You have no piercing. Does your sister have a piercing >> on your face? >> No, my sister doesn't have a piercing. Neither one of us has piercings. >> Have you ever had >> NO, I'VE NEVER HAD A PIERCING. >> OKAY. SO, why would your driver's license photo have a piercing then? >> I don't know. I've never had a piercing before >> in your driver's license photo. >> I NEVER HAD A PIERCING. I PUT DIAMONDS ON MY FACE TO FAKE LIKE A PIERCING, BUT I DON'T HAVE A PIERCING. >> OKAY. Like >> I DON'T HAVE TO LAUGH. LIKE WHAT AM I LYING ABOUT? >> NO, because this is not unfair. I just came here to stop. >> Okay. >> You I never met you before. >> Okay. >> It was a black GUY THAT I MET AND THERE I >> RIGHT. She's actually got two warrants. One out of DuPage County, one out of Kane. The one out of D page is an RO. The one out of Kane is no bond. >> I don't want to have a warrant. >> All right. Real quick, if you could do me. In fact, after running the name she provided, officers discovered two active warrants from two different counties. Meanwhile, she continued insisting she was innocent while becoming increasingly agitated. The situation then turned chaotic when she was asked to remove her purse. >> We're going to go back to our PD. >> Are you sure you have THE RIGHT NAME? I DON'T UNDERSTAND. >> HERE. HERE. Tell you what, PD, we will triple check. >> Okay. Call my son. >> Okay. >> My son, >> I understand. >> What am I going for? I don't understand. >> Why don't we do this? Why don't you do this? Why don't you take your purse off so that you get stuff with it on and YOU JUST >> WHY THOUGH? WHY? Why am I doing this? >> All right. >> Why? >> Please take your purse off. >> Why? I don't understand why. >> So again, we we explained it to you. We'll explain it more with the PD. Just for now, you can just take your purse off. >> WHY? WHY? WHY THOUGH? WHY my friend? Like why? >> I DON'T UNDERSTAND. WHY? >> All right. Just put your hand on your back. >> Why? Why? Stop. Stop resisting. Stop resisting. Resisting. I'm not Hey. Hey. Listen. Put your hand. You're not listening. >> I'm not resisting. I promise I'm not. >> Hands behind your back. >> Well, you got it wrong. >> You have it wrong. >> You have it all wrong. I think you have it wrong. >> Stop. Stop. >> I think you have it all wrong. >> You have it wrong. >> You're not You're not making >> I think you have it all wrong. >> You're not making >> I think you have it wrong. You need to stop or we're going to take you to the ground. Put your hands on your back now. Stop cooperating. Just cooperate. >> Okay, then we'll figure out. >> Cooperate. Put your hand behind your back. Just Okay. Just relax. Okay. You're not cooperating now. You're not on your back. >> That's right. >> Okay. Just don't get yourself all worked up. Just Okay. Just relax. >> We'll fix it when we go to the station. We're not going to do that here. >> Open everything. >> Yeah. Just Okay. Just listen. Okay. Listen, we know you're emotional. Listen, you're emotional right now. Just It's okay. Breathe. And it's okay. We'll we'll fix it when we get to the station. Take a breath. Okay. It's okay. Take a breath. Just take a breath. >> Just take a breath. Go get your phone. >> I don't understand. >> What are you doing for like what am I going to jail for? I didn't do nothing wrong. >> I didn't do nothing. The woman was charged with criminal trespassing, retail theft, and obstructing justice. Lying about your identity and refusing to cooperate only creates more evidence against you. Accepting responsibility early is almost always the better choice. Next, the woman acted as if she had the authority to tell the officers how to do their job and expected them to follow her demands. >> I just returned some stuff. Okay, can you step over here with us? Why >> here? Let me Okay, let me go over here. >> I am. Can you tell him to let me go? You should have seen how he did me and I'm pregnant. Look at him grabbing me. Get off of me. >> On the 15th of January 2025, officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at Kohl's. The suspect was believed to be a woman dressed in black who had allegedly attempted to leave the store. Officers quickly caught up with her and stopped her. Here's what happened next. >> Hey hun, >> can you come here for a second? >> Uh there's there may be some confusion and some issues inside. What happened? >> Do you have anything in your bag? You should not have >> No, I just returned some stuff. >> Okay. Can you step over here with us? >> Why? >> There. >> Here, let me Okay, let me go over here cuz I'm going to let you see. >> Well, we're not going to get in the car. >> I'm not getting in the car. I'm going to let you see that there's nothing in there >> in your bag. >> Yeah. >> Okay. You're not getting in. >> I'm not getting in. >> You're not getting in the car? >> You're fighting me. Let me show you. >> I'm not fighting you. >> Okay. I'm going to show you. I'm going to show you WHAT'S IN MY BAG >> right now. >> Okay. Can I show you? Yes or no? Okay, Scaggs, let me show you. I'm going to set the bag down and show you. >> Yeah, you're not doing that. >> Okay, I'm not going in there. >> Why are you trying to detain me and I'm alive? >> There's nothing in my bag. >> Stop. Stop. >> She immediately and aggressively denied the allegation, only making herself appear even more suspicious. She even resorted to playing the race card, further escalating an already tense situation. Jeez, you made that harder than anything. >> No, I don't. Yes, you do. >> I thought I would have did this if I was white. >> What are you talking about? It >> has nothing TO DO WITH COLOR. >> WELL, COME SHOW ME. LET ME GO. >> YOU have a RECEIPT FOR THE >> NO, I I came in to do my return. The black girl at the thing. Can y'all go in there? >> We will. We're trying to do We're TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT AND YOU'RE FIGHTING US. >> NO, you're not. >> That's what we do. THAT'S OUR PURPOSE. >> NO, YOU'RE NOT. SO, WHY are you taking my bag? >> Where the are you taking? Look how you doing now. You are you ARE NOW UNDER ARREST. YOU WERE under arrest when you started resisting. >> No, I didn't. That's against the law. >> Yes, it is. Y'all didn't even mirrorize me. >> We don't HAVE TO DO THAT. >> RIGHT. SO, YOU NEED TO YOU'RE PUTTING ME IN back of the car. No. Take me in the store THEN SO I CAN GO face to face with whatever that they called you for. >> Well, I HAVE A YES, THEY DO. As you can see, simply to avoid being placed in the patrol car, the woman stiffened her body and actively resisted the officers. By doing so, she only added another charge against herself. [music] Yet, she seemed to believe she had every right to act that way. >> Are you kidding me? Right in the back seat. >> Have a seat. >> In the back seat. >> From the back seat. >> And they recording it right now. I hope it is recorded. >> It's all recorded, >> RIGHT? SO, GIVE ME A A SERGEANT out here. >> We will >> now. That's my bag. And you saying, "Let me search your bag." I came in with that bag. I went to the damn customer service desk, right? And then I asked the girl in Sephora. So what the belongs to them in that bag? >> If this was not that big of a deal, why are you putting up such A FIGHT? >> BECAUSE I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY DID THEY PUT UP SUCH A FIGHT? >> Because I had my rights, too. >> You're right. And >> what's my right? >> You lost your right when you start. >> No, I didn't. I didn't. >> You lost your right when you tried GETTING IN THE CAR. >> I DID NOT GET IN THE CAR. YOU LET ME WALK TO MY CAR. I SAID I'LL SHOW YOU. You said okay. >> That's what you said on camera. Why you got your jacket covering it up? >> It's not covered up. >> Okay. >> Mine's not covered. >> I tell you what. Where are you gonna >> get a sergeant? >> Yeah, they're coming. They're coming. >> No, they're right there. >> No, that's not the sergeant. >> No. Who is it then? >> This other officer. >> Can y'all please take over? >> I KNOW Y'ALL ALL WORK TOGETHER, BUT THEY MY RIGHTS HAVE BEEN VIOLATED. >> I came in with that bag and he going to tell me that they called you to get >> Yes, please, Smith. I don't want to I want to talk to you. Please, can you relax? >> I am. Can you tell him to let me go? >> You should have seen how he did me and I'm pregnant. Look at him grabbing me. Get off of me. >> He's going to take you. We're going to put you on the car. >> The officers did their best to calm her down. And for a brief moment, it looked like she was finally ready to cooperate. But she wasn't. Instead, she immediately cast herself as the victim, dragging out the process of being placed into the patrol car. Have a seat in the car. >> Can I please know I'm pregnant? He already just slammed me and did all this. I need >> I didn't slam me. But >> no, he did. But can you call? >> If you're pregnant, then do your baby, right? Have >> Right. Can you call for a medical assistance? >> Yeah. >> Can I get a sergeant? >> Yeah, you'll get a sergeant. >> How long? >> I don't know. SIT IN THE CAR, PLEASE. >> WHY DO I have TO SIT IN THE CAR if I'm not going nowhere? Why can't I go in the store? >> I'm not saying that, but look at y'all. That's four men against one woman. And I'm trying to figure out what went in my bag that y'all claimed that went in my bag. >> Well, I didn't claim anything. >> Yes, he did. When he came up on the scene, HE SAID, "OH, MA'AM, THIS tell us, do you have anything that belongs to that store?" Everything I have that I came IN WITH, RIGHT? SO, WHO called the police and said that I had something in my bag? >> I'M GUESSING STORE. >> RIGHT. WHY? BECAUSE I'M AFRICANAME. >> NO, we don't play that game. >> LET'S NOT GO THERE, >> MAN. I'M THE ONLY >> I'm the only one that that came out that store that's getting the police called on. Are you kidding me right now? CUZ I CAN PROVE >> OKAY. If you give me a point to prove TO YOU THAT I'M NOT lying >> for me to put this in your car. >> No. Can you give me a point to prove to you yes or no? >> Just Yes or no? IT'S NOT. WHAT'S on camera? >> ALL OF IT. >> ME PUTTING STUFF IN MY BAG. >> YOU WALKED OUT THE STORE WITHOUT >> NO, I DIDN'T. OH MY GOD. ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW? That was my scaggs. Can you please give me a chance to PROVE THIS? CAMERAS EVERYWHERE. When I came in there, I didn't return. >> Told you. >> AND I DIDN'T. NO, I'm not. >> No, I'm not. He got my stuff. >> Before leaving, the officers gave her one more chance to admit what she had done. But to their disappointment, [music] she continued to deny everything, even after they reminded her that the surveillance cameras had captured the entire incident. >> I was literally in a store. Watch camera. No, because now it's on my wreck. Yes. And I was in there 2 minutes. >> That's what came. >> 2 minutes and I stole. >> And your chance to prove it in court. >> 2 minutes and I stole some. So how did I steal something that quick? >> You don't want to listen to anything we say. So it doesn't matter. >> I'm sure he's lying. We're >> He is lying. He is lying. Listen to him. >> Okay, I'm done talking. Can you move my hair out of my mouth, please? >> He just said it cuz you're pregnant. >> Yeah. No, I didn't say cuz I was pregnant. Cuz he did it. Are you a sergeant, sir? helicopter, please. >> All right, turn around. Face his car. It's going to be a little uncomfortable at first. I'm going to put this first one on you. >> So, where am I going? >> The county >> to the jail. >> They are. You are. >> So, what were you saying? >> And then what? I can't go in court or nothing today. It's over with. The time is over. >> Well, I don't know. There's nothing we can do about this. You got to go. >> I know this part, but without >> You got to sit down and I and I'll have them walk away after you, sir. >> Okay. >> That red strap scrape in there. That scrap in there, that's your seat belt. Okay, hang on to it. All right. >> Okay, hold on. >> I never even obstructed you. >> What's this? >> Huh? That's That's my my cousin thing. That's the one I use when I do a video visit to the county cuz I can't go in a penal institution. So, I can't >> If you're lying about your name again, >> that's not my name. I never told you that. >> What's your What is What is your >> that ID? I'm sorry. What is your last name? >> Okay. I just literally if you look it up. >> Okay, give me a minute. >> Yeah, I I still think that's >> In the end, Dhoni was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest. When clear evidence already exists, pride and defiance cannot change the facts. They only turn a single mistake into a chain of avoidable consequences. Next, this elderly woman behaved in a way that was anything but mature. >> THIS IS NOT RIGHT. I CAN'T. WHAT THE IS YOU DOING? WHY ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO HAVE >> BEHIND YOUR BACK? >> I HAVE ASTHMA [screaming] AND I >> Stop breathing. >> On the 31st of October 2023, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a Party City store in Illinois after receiving a report of a woman suspected of shoplifting. From the very beginning, the situation quickly turned chaotic. >> 16. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? IT'S NOT RIGHT. I CAN'T WHAT THE is you doing? >> What is doing your back now? >> Okay, I will do that. >> Get on the ground now. >> You don't have to get on the ground. >> Get on the ground. Put your hands behind YOUR BACK. >> YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT. >> HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> DO IT NOW. >> WHY ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO HAVE >> BEHIND YOUR BACK? >> I HAVE ASTHMA AND I >> Stop fighting. Breathe. But can y'all listen? >> I DON'T I HAVE TASTE. >> CAN YOU CRUSH HIM? Can you put ME UP SO I CAN BREATHE, PLEASE? >> I can't. >> Put your hand on your back. Now let go. >> Okay. >> Put your hand on your back. >> I can't breathe. I can't stop. >> Quit picking me. I can't breathe. >> I can't breathe. I can't. Please. >> Stand up. Shut up. I need I NEED MY WHAT THE >> like seriously what? >> She claimed she had asthma and couldn't breathe. Yet, she continuously talked without ever seeming out of breath. Even while being escorted away, she kept walking and cursing at the officers the entire time. >> What you needed? You came to me such a big I just told you I you got ass y'all me. That's fine. Face that. >> Quit freaking moving around. >> I can't breathe. What the mean? Stop moving around. I can't breathe. >> I'm just going to cut it. >> I HOPE Y'ALL RECORDED EVERYTHING THAT Y'ALL JUST DID TO ME, TOO. >> SO, I'm going to cut it around taking the cut off. >> You got stuff in here. What? >> It don't matter what's in there. >> Well, it does matter what's in there. >> It does CUZ Y'ALL DON'T EVEN have the right to I CANNOTING BREA. SO WHY THE ARE YOU DOING THAT? >> Stop trying to take this off you. >> Okay, we'll take you off then. Damn, y'all sit here doing the M. I just dropped off your >> Stop ACTING LIKE THIS. >> I DON'T HAVE TO. THE I HAVE THE RIGHT TO. I CAN'T BREATHE. Y'ALL JUST SIT ON ME. BOTH OF Y'ALL WITH YOUR FOOT ON MY NECK. >> Nobody had any foot on your neck. >> You did the >> I don't do that. Okay. But breathe. What the >> Can I move my arms so I can open my chest case for me to breathe? >> Can anyone else? >> No, I'm not. >> Can't put my arms open so I can BREATHE. I CANNOT >> BREATHE. QUIT YELLING. >> I CAN'T. >> YES, you can. the out of my arm while there. Clearly, the officers recognized the tactics the woman was trying to use. [music] Nothing she did afterward changed the outcome. >> She got stuff all over her stupid act like this. >> I can't breathe. You did. You dead to do that. >> Quit acting like that. talking about. Quit acting like that. >> Quit acting like that. Grow up. >> Yeah. I got this uncut from her. So, need you to grab it while we take her. >> Let me pick the biggest. >> Hold the I got her. She ain't going nowhere. >> I'm not trying to get to >> Relax. Relax. Relax. >> No, I'm not holding you tight at all, honey. I can barely get pressure on you. >> Tight as damn. >> Relax. Relax. >> No one had anything on your freaking neck. >> Relax on me. >> I need your last clean. >> Well, why did you run? >> I did not run. >> She's got [ __ ] inside of her. Like inside of her coat. >> Inside her coat. All right. What you got inside your coat running? >> Stand up. >> Okay. I'm going to move you. You don't have to move too much. >> She got like coats inside her coat. Yeah. >> Yes. This >> thing you called you got to pay for stuff. >> Okay. >> Shit's expensive. >> Here we have search rest. This just runs up that coat. >> There's nothing else in the van. >> There's nothing I can see. >> Can you believe that? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Officers then searched her bag and found multiple stolen items, confirming the shoplifting allegations. They also discovered that she had been arrested just a few weeks earlier on an aggravated battery charge. >> Oh yeah, and her phone is too. We'll get that on you. >> Yeah, man. You should know her. You arrested her a couple weeks ago >> for what? >> Aggravated battery. >> So, what you're saying is she's out on bond right now. So, she just violated bond >> probably. Okay. >> You arrested her a couple weeks ago on the 26th of September. >> Oh, on Yep. >> Yeah. When you were fighting people up there? My goodness. Wow. I'm shocked. >> That's normal. >> I looked it up. I read her name. >> So, she violated bond. >> All right. >> Oh, that's not happening, ma'am. >> Shortly afterward, the suspect's mother arrived at the scene and the officers explained what had happened to her. Did >> she call you up here? >> Yeah. >> All right. Well, I'll tell you. She's an adult, but I'll tell you just cuz I understand. She was in inside here stealing. They called. She came out. They pointed her out. Partner went up there and said, "Hey, you've been accused of stealing. I'm going to stay in your purse." She refused. She started pulling away from We had a fighter take her down to the ground and she started trying to kick me. Um, and that's what happened. She had stuff in her purse. She had stuff stuffed in her shirt. So, she's going to jail. So, >> like I said, I respect you as a mom coming up here and and trying to find out what your kid. Um, so I I do respect that. Okay. That's why I'm telling you. >> Okay. >> Um, but she is an adult. We don't have to. But, you know, it is what it is, right? >> So, uh, I think whoever she was with was also stealing, but got her. So, >> she's at least going for the theft. It was like 60 something bucks and resisting us. Um, she's apparently on bond for another case, so they could revoke that bond and hold her this time. There you go. >> She say something about somewhere somewhere. Let's see if she wants you to. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft and resisting a police officer. The shoplifting was only the beginning of her problems. By resisting the officers and making excuses after the evidence had already been found, she only made the consequences much more serious. Next, this intoxicated woman showed no shame as she caused a loud disturbance throughout the police station. >> Am I Am I out on camera? >> I hope not. >> I hope so BECAUSE [screaming] LET ME GO. LET ME GO. LET ME GO. LET ME GO. ON THE 4TH of June 2023, officers approached a woman who matched the description of a shoplifting suspect who had fled from Walmart. When they made contact, the situation quickly escalated as she completely ignored the officer's commands. >> Miss, come here a minute. Miss, come here. Don't make me chase you. Yes, you. >> Come here, >> ma'am. >> Why are you chasing me? Why do you have your >> I said come here. >> Okay, this is illegal. >> No, it is not. Yes, you stop. Stop. >> Why you there? >> Over here. Yes, there is. You were involved in something over here and they want you back over here. Walk over here. But this this >> There is not. Walk right over to my cruiser to stop resisting. You're under arrest. >> You haven't told me what I'm under arrest for. You haven't told me. >> I'm detaining you for the investigation over here. >> OKAY. THERE'S NO INVESTIGATION. YES, THERE IS. >> WHAT IS THE INVESTIGATION? HOW IS THERE AN INVESTIGATION WITHOUT FIGHTING? Stay right there or I'll let the dog out. You'll be bit. >> Oh god. >> Hang out. >> Sure. >> Let me get her cuff. >> Yep. Yep. Yep. >> That's fine. >> Give me your phone. Give me your phone. Okay. I'm going to set up here so it doesn't break. That's okay. I'm setting up here. >> Take everything. >> Yep. Okay. >> What is it? >> Hands behind your back for right now. Okay. You're just being detained at the moment. All right. >> Okay. Can I pull my shirt up? So, >> we'll get you set up. Okay. >> So, what is the reason why I'm in the pan? >> We'll go over that. >> Okay. Go over it. We go over it. Go over it right now. >> Go over it. Why am I being in your handcuffs? WHY IS THIS MAN THROWING ME TO get the car? >> I WAS 5T away and this man threw me against the car. I couldn't be for real. Be for real. Be for real. Be for real. >> NO. STOP. I WANT YOU TO get your shoe at me. >> Where's your other shoe at? >> Please get your sho >> I would know IF I WOULD HAVE FOUND IT 5T AWAY. HER resistance only added a resisting arrest charge that was difficult to dispute, but she seemed completely unaware of it. She wasn't even embarrassed, continuing to fight the officers and refusing to get into the patrol car. >> Now you just got a felonies kicking a cop. >> I didn't kick you, >> ma'am. >> Stop fighting what? >> Stop. >> Stop fighting you guys. assaulting me as exactly >> those hover legs. >> Oh, that's what that's what the issue is. That's never you a person of understanding. Am I my out on camera? >> I hope not. >> I hope so because I know it's a good burn. Where you going? Stop. >> Okay, I'll be >> for what? What is the point? >> Which foot? >> What is the point? >> You're my age. You're my age. >> Then why are you asking my age? But you're being a YOU KNOW THIS MAN is you pushed me a >> Yeah, she already kicked me, too. >> Boy, I I don't care. Actually, I really don't get I'll stop for you. You want me to keep going? You think this is something? After returning to the store, the officer spoke with a man who identified himself as the woman's friend. He voluntarily came forward and explained what he believed had caused her erratic behavior. Sir, >> it's been a long and she is way more intoxicated than I originally thought. I did not know that she was getting this. >> How do you know her? >> She's a friend of mine. >> Okay. >> Um, we've known each other since high school. Um, we went to a movie earlier. And um apparently she had a thing of pendy and >> what's her name? >> Frankening down. So I'm like I can't just leave her here. I go back to get her and I'm looking for her all over Walmart and then I spot her outside and apparently she had taken some hat or something. I don't know why. I have no clue why. I tried to return the hat to them and tell them, "Hey, I think she's just a little intoxicated. She needs to go home. That's what I'm going to do. take her home. >> And she just started walking off and I'm like, "Look, if you don't let me take you home, the police are going to come and arrest you." And >> that's [snorts] what happened either. I kept begging her, "Let me just take you home." >> Yeah. >> Her phone is dead. So, it's not like she >> Where does she live? >> She lives on the side of >> How did she end up out here? >> I picked her up. >> Oh, >> yeah. Yeah, I picked her up. Like I said, we went to a movie. Uh, we came back here because I live close by and >> Okay. So, we had originally come here to go to Don Ramon's to get some Mexican food and just kind of hang out, >> but ended up here. And >> returning to the suspect, she was taken to the police station for a medical evaluation. However, her uncooperative behavior didn't stop there as she continued making the situation even more difficult. >> Injuries? >> Yes, I do. >> BOY, I GOT a lot of them. I probably didn't bruise yet, BUT GIVE ME ABOUT 3 HOURS, I tell you, I probably will have two. DO YOU KNOW HOW TIGHT I SHOT? YOU'RE GOING TO BREAK MY WRIST. >> And it's not going to IT DON'T GET IT DON'T MEAN NOTHING TO ANYBODY. >> It don't mean nothing to you. >> Relax. >> It don't mean nothing. Oh my. >> So listen, >> you know how much pain I'm in? >> DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH PAIN THAT I'm >> Do YOU OKAY. OKAY. THAT HURT SO BAD. [screaming] >> SO BAD. OKAY. LET ME GO. LET ME GO. LET ME GO. LET ME GO. LET ME GO. RELAX. [screaming] [screaming] RELAX. I can't put them both on the inside. >> Oh my god. >> [screaming] >> In the end, the woman was charged with theft, resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer, and possession of cocaine. Every act of resistance only made the consequences more severe, turning a shoplifting case into multiple criminal charges. >> She got sued on this left hand. >> Just need a break. I just run around. Please don't touch me. Please don't touch me. Please don't touch me. Please don't touch. I'm going to place you in here. >> On March 16th, 2025, officers received a report of a shoplifting incident at a local supermarket where the suspect was believed to be a woman who attempted to skip scan several items. But to understand the situation in greater detail, it was best to hear directly from this employees statement. >> Okay. She scanned some stuff, didn't and we like went with her receipt, checked everything. The thing that she didn't scan right over there, it came out to like $102, which I believe over 75. We need to call the view guys. So that's why we did uh and that's so so it was over over $100. >> 10262 I believe. Exactly. >> 10262. >> Yeah. Got a Florida ID. I don't know if it's a legit ID. It's an identification. I wouldn't even be able to tell if it is a copy of the guys who would be to to charge him with. >> Oh, you got to ask the manager's right over there. I will double check with. >> Yeah. Yeah. Right here. Oh, good. I got to get up, too. >> At the same time, officers received information that the woman had attempted to leave, prompting them to quickly pursue her. But what shocked them was her attitude. >> Hey, going. Come on. Why are you trying to run? >> Come on. I understand. I understand. But there's no reason to run. I got to go home. I got to go home. >> Unfortunately, let's stand back up. Okay. Let's go. Let's go back over here on the curb. All right. >> Yep. Let's not go too fast now. All right. >> All right. Let's hang out over here. Okay. Miss Miss I don't want. I'm sorry. [laughter] I'm >> It's all right. Just to let you know, you're being recorded audio and video on our body cameras. Okay. I'm so sorry. >> It's all right. It's all right. You got your ID with you, miss? I don't know what I do with it. >> You don't know what to do with it? >> No. >> I think you just had it a second ago. >> Yeah, I did. Please, please don't for let me go home. >> So, unfortunately at this point that's kind of out of our hands. Okay. >> Please let me go home. Please. >> It's all right. >> Please. I am so sorry. Please. >> Now, you mind you mind looking for that ID? Take your time. You know, enjoy your cigarette. >> Please let me go. No, no, no. I'm not going. I just need to walk. I'm not right. I'm not running anymore. Sit down. Sit down. I I am going to be patient. Okay. Sit down. I'm going to talk to you guys. I apologize. Please let me go home. >> Please. >> Unfortunately, we're past that point. Okay. I believe based off of Shopright policy. You're going to have to be placed under arrest today for shoplifting. All right. >> I apologize, please. >> It was clear that she knew exactly what was happening. Yet, she still tried to push the entire cart out of the store. That made her panic seem confusing as she even appeared to use it to make things harder for the officers. >> Where we going? Where are we going? >> I I just need a break. I just >> No more running around. No more running around. Don't touch me. Please don't touch me. No more running around. Don't touch me. Please don't touch me. >> I'm going to place you a handcuff. All right. Sit down. Sit down. All right. >> Okay. There we go. >> Very cordial with you like enjoy your cigarette. All right. >> You going to work with us now? >> Yes, I am. I'm sorry. >> Okay. Okay. So, where's the ID? >> I apologize first of all. >> Okay. I understand you apologize, but we're past that. All right. So, now we just have to We're trying to get your ID. Where's your ID? You >> got any pictures of it or anything or >> uh they they have a picture of it inside. >> The woman took advantage of her condition to refuse returning to the store to resolve the situation, which made the officers suspicious that she was creating an opportunity to escape. >> I promise you, I won't. I promise you, you guys could hold me down. You guys hold my hand. I just I I don't want to go with her right now. Please, please. >> All right. >> Please. Please handcuff right now. >> It's all right. All right. >> Please. >> Oh, we are going to put you in handcuffs here. Okay. >> Please. >> Listen, we're going to let you sit here. All right. We're going to work with you, but we got to put you in handcuffs. >> Okay. Just cuz we're we're concerned about you running away. >> I'm not going to run away. >> We're very concerned about you running away. >> I know you're telling me that. But you did just try to run away. Correct. >> I didn't know you guys were to call. I didn't know the cops were here. I thought everything was done. They said they were calling the cops. They really didn't believe them. I didn't know he did copy here until you guys came outside. >> Okay. Well, it's not okay to run. I did not know about like he he said he just wanted my ID. He wanted me to sign something and then that was it. And he knew everything. That was it. That was it. >> We're going to keep you out here, okay? We're going to keep you open air, fresh air. We're not going to enclose you nowhere, but we are going to put you in handcuffs, okay? >> I'll I'll hang out with you all. We're going to let you do one more cigarette. All right. >> At that moment, another officer worked alongside the loss prevention employee to gather evidence related to the incident. But based on the employees statement, it seemed this was not her first time. >> All the time and always just late. She was actually like always late. I >> was like, "God, it takes forever. Heat. Heat. Yeah, she she didn't want to come in the room. >> Oh, I can hear her. >> Yeah, she didn't want to. She was like, I feel uncomfortable. And um I was like, all right, it's not, you know, I'm not I'm not going to force anyone to scan's going in the right bag right now. >> But like she's holding like the stuff in the other hand. Like that's also like she's not going to scan that. She's just going to it. She got two weight on this on the left hand. Yeah. Is it busy today? >> No, it's been pretty good. >> Returning to the woman after everything had been clarified, the officers quickly moved forward with their next course of action. >> Take about half an hour or something like that. All right. >> Could I call my sister and tell her to get the >> I'm going to go talk to her? >> All right. We're going to go in the car over here. Uh far away. Okay. >> All right. We'll get the groceries. >> Yeah. Pick up. Oh, sorry. I'm so sorry. You're all right. >> Put it in 71. I'm just going to I got to ask your sister real quick. Okay. >> Okay. Come here. We're going to go on this side. Okay. >> I don't know what one >> I know. I know. We got you. >> All right. One sec. One sec. Don't run in on the street. All right. I don't want you to hit your park or nothing. I know it's like empty parking lot, but >> I don't know where to go. >> And you got nothing in You got no pockets. >> I don't have no pockets. All right. >> All right. Just stay right here. You're okay. You're okay. You're okay. >> Open. >> One sec. One sec. All right. We're going to just pat you down with the bag. Okay. Okay. All right. >> Just base the car for me real quick. All right. You have nothing on you, right? I know you said you got no positive. You're good. >> A short time later, her relative arrived and it seemed she had an explanation for the woman's condition. >> Something got schizophrenia and she has got some. >> Okay. Now, are you concerned with her mental behavior at this time? >> Earlier, guys, she was fine. Like, she went off on her own. We shopped. She did her own shopping. I did my shopping in the store. She called me and she's like, "I'm going to the register. I'm going to pay cuz I want to go outside and smoke." I went and got Dino Nuggets and I was like really slow to go. Well, he left on a skateboard, but he helped me cuz I didn't know how to do it. I just moved here from New York. How to do the selfcan thing. >> And then the guy told me she stole. And then no, this is like a shock to me. Like I did not expect this whatsoever. I'm like I looked at the guy like who would want to steal at this hour at night? I'm walking on and I was in complete shock cuz it's her. >> I get you. Now, now is this behavior new or has it happened before or >> She's always had a little behaviors, but stealing is something new to me. >> No, I get you. No, I'm more concerned with her her mental stability. >> In the end, she was ultimately charged with shoplifting. A moment of panic or desperation can never justify dishonest actions because the consequences will always follow no matter how hard someone tries to avoid them. Next, this woman genuinely believed that Walmart belonged to her. >> I cannot walk. Try to move me. >> Try to move me. I'm on my period, so I need I need um underwear when I get there and pads. Okay. >> On the 4th of March 2025, police were dispatched to Walmart after reports of a woman causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the property. When officers arrived, the woman immediately invoked her rights and came up with multiple excuses, making it clear from the start that she had no intention of cooperating. >> Okay. So, what's going on? >> About to get um the operator on the phone. Want me to call? When we You standing too close. Back up. Back up, please. You standing too close. You recording me? >> Yeah, right here. >> Okay. You don't need to get that close to me. >> Okay. My name's Officer Johnson for the Casper Police Department. >> Um, if you want another officer like that, you can't call 911. >> We'll get another officer out here before I speak cuz I have the right to remain silent. >> Okay. You're not under arrest. They just want you to go. They just want you to leave. That's it. >> Okay. Are you good? Do you need the fire department or anything like that? Um, sorry. There's something wrong with it. Uh, just tell her she trespassed. Yeah. >> So, ma'am, just to let you know, uh, moving forward, you cannot come back on Walmart property. >> Man, shut your way. >> I'm not going nowhere. >> Yes. >> I'm handicapping. I cannot walk. >> Try to move me. >> Try to move me. Yeah, I move. All right. Hey, I got the police over here and this officer is standing alone by himself talking about I'm trespass. I'm not going nowhere. Uh Lewis, your son out here, your firstborn was acting stupid. So I said something to him and they're telling me I'm trespassing. I didn't do nothing when he started the argument. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going nowhere. Then he's recording me. The officer came up a step real close. I told him to step back. He was recording me. >> Clearly, the woman was dealing with her own issues, which was why she refused to leave. But instead of working things out with the officers, she called a family member and loudly retold her version of events, seemingly making sure the police could hear every word of her story. >> I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. I got two flat tires. I'm not going anywhere. They're going to arrest me. I'm going to get out for trespass. I'm going to come back on the property and they're going to keep arresting me and they're going to have to drop it. I'm going to explain to the police officer that the reason why I'm trespassed cuz this Lewis over here, whatever the his last name is, your son started some with me. >> 465. >> Okay. Well, he thinks that you're his father and he's over here where I charge my phone at night sitting in the sitting here in the seat starting with me. It don't matter. It don't matter what time it is. They the store allows it sees me come over here at night and charge my phone. I wasn't bothering nobody. They started running their mouth to me first. They wasn't talk. They wasn't even talking when I rolled up. When I pulled up in in the buggy, they weren't even talking. Then they weren't talking. I said, "Who you talking to? Me?" He was like, "Yeah, I'm talking to you." I was like, "Oh, you you talking to my son?" I was like, "Yeah, I told him not to touch my phone cuz he wants to steal it." I don't know. His son, his son was they want to steal my phone cuz they said I they can't charge their phone nowhere. So they they're jealous cuz I the store allow me to charge my phone here. They see me out here every night when we charge when I come and charge the phone. >> I didn't do do what on my What is you talking about, Anthony? Okay, I'm on my way. I'm on my way to the car. >> The woman quietly walked away from the vehicle, making it seem as though she had finally agreed to leave. But that wasn't the case at all. She had merely changed locations, dragging the tension with her. >> I don't know what the it is. All I know is it's white and it got short hair. >> Who me? I'm a female. That's what you're asking. >> Can I help you? >> Yeah. So, >> don't say nothing. Stay your ass in the car. >> It's fine. He doesn't have to talk to her. Um, she got trespassed, so she has to leave the property. You should arrest. >> I will not. >> Who said that? Corporation >> loss prevention. >> Who's that? >> It's the employee inside. I guess there was some argument. They trespassed everyone involved in it. >> Well, as you can see, we have two flat tires. You can fix us with that and we can leave. >> I do see that. I can call you a tow truck if you want. I'll deal with that. But >> nope. >> You can still stay here. You're not trespassed. She just can't be on property. >> Nope. I will not go anywhere. >> Okay. And I when I get out of jail, if you try to put me in jail for 30 mother days, Joseph, you got my purse popping. Don't go. And >> this is her view >> box. Listen to me. >> Listen to me. This is my stuff right here. Okay. Don't cry. You'll be in I'll be gone for 30 days. Less than 30 days cuz I don't have to go to court. You understand me? You got the money in here in my purse. 20 302 27 or $37. Put the money on the cash app. Okay. I don't have a car for to pay my car insurance or the cell phone bill there. So, what you're going to do is call mom, tell her you're coming to come pick up my card and explain the situation. What I can do now since I just shut off my phone is call mom and tell her you're coming to come pick up the card. If she gives it to you, don't get all my mail, just the card. You understand? Here, leave that. >> There was no sign that the woman intended to leave, even after additional officers arrived on the scene. If anything, she only became more defiant, confidently making increasingly unbelievable claims as the situation escalated. >> Do what you got to do and take me to jail. Let me make arrangements first cuz I'm pregnant. Don't put your hands on me. I need two cuffs in the front and if you try putting in the back, you know, boom, they going to get your >> But all you have to do is leave the property. And I I can't because I'm handicapped. I cannot walk. I have neuropathy in my legs. >> But jail doesn't correct the issue. >> It doesn't matter. I said no, I'm not leaving the property. Homeless people are allowed to be on the property. >> Why are you cussing at me? >> I'm not cussing at you, Mom. >> I'm going to They think that they're going to try to take me to jail because somebody started arguing with me. So, they're trying to trespass me. I'm not arguing with them. That police officer stepped up on my ass. See, the police officer stepped close up on my ass. So, I told him to back the up cuz he was stepping. Okay, I CAN SAY WHAT I WANT TO SAY. THIS IS MY MOUTH. >> I know they can't because homeless people are allowed to live here. They can't trespass me. >> Well, Walmart called us and Yeah, they do. >> It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Take me to jail, I'll still come back and be on the property. Take me again and it's going to be a problem. Boom. Boom. That's all it takes. >> Not on us. >> That's all it takes. >> Not on us. >> It's Walmart that watch. >> Boom. What's your name, officer? >> Sergeant Salocrine. >> I'm allowed to make the first police call. >> Clearly, the woman seemed determined to end up in jail. And at that point, it was the only remaining option if she refused to leave the property. With no signs of compliance, the officers ultimately made their decision and moved forward with the arrest. >> We'll put the handcuffs in front of you. Whatever works for you. Are you better to walk without your hands, cop? Do you want to walk over here and then cop? And you said you had issues with your legs. >> Yeah. Okay. Can you put your back up against the police? >> Put the back up. >> Put Put your back where it says police. Oh, >> they really wanted to take my baby daddy to jail, but I'm going instead. >> Who's the baby daddy? >> What? Who's your baby daddy? >> He is. I just told you I got four daughters in my stomach. Four girls. His daughters. >> 14 out of three hours. >> Yep. It's quadruple. You wouldn't know that if I didn't post my video in 2021. >> You don't know what it is. It's just four little babies. >> Coke. >> What? >> You think any type of cooking on you? >> No. Any secret? >> Nope. >> Okay. >> You understand something on your side? >> Don't stop. Are you going to grab my bag? Does he have to get out and give it to you? Okay. >> I want to get out of um You're saying something on you or inside. I don't find it. >> Yeah, I know. So, they're in I'm on my period, so I need I need um underwear when I get there and pads. >> Okay, I'll tell them. Can you turn around and and put your chest against her? >> I have underwear on. I don't have no bra on. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Nothing in your shoes. >> Nope, just dirty socks and dirty sneakers and this dress. >> Step up on the floor. 24 hours. >> In the end, the woman was charged with trespassing. When the woman was given multiple chances to leave the property, she chose to argue, make excuses, and escalate the situation instead. Her actions showed how refusing to cooperate with a simple, lawful request could quickly turn a minor dispute into an unnecessary arrest. Still, this woman's misconduct went far beyond a simple act of shoplifting. >> I will get the clothes. >> That's what we're trying to tell you. >> I'm I'm going to listen. I'm going to abide. Well, one of them. >> This says Eden Joy Solomon on it. Let me hear it. >> That's my Okay, that's my boyfriend's mom. >> On the 27th of December 2024, officers were dispatched to Walmart after receiving reports of a woman shoplifting inside the store. More specifically, she had concealed merchandise in her bag, worn stolen items on her body, and even stuffed some into her pants. Store surveillance cameras clearly captured her entire scheme. >> She's concealing more stuff. She has some in her bag. She has some She's put some on. Um, and she's fitting some down pants. >> Okay. >> You want us to wait till she comes out or you want us to go grab her now? >> Um, >> she's already done the act. >> Yeah. Um, I just want like this stuff. I don't know what she's It doesn't mean you can go get her. I can't go get her. >> No. Whatever you want. >> Yeah. Oh. >> Officers then approached her to catch her in the act and she appeared completely stunned by their sudden arrival. >> What are you doing over here? >> I'm going to text you. >> Just text you. >> All right. All that stuff. >> Yeah. >> What's your name? >> Sh. You have an ID on you? Uh, it's in my car. >> You need to stand up for me. >> Yeah. Stand up for me. >> What did I do? >> You're under arrest for software. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Hold on. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Please. Please. Please. >> Wait. Why are you doing this? >> Your back. >> Can I pay for it? >> We already We already saw you out there. >> Come back. Can I pay for it though? I haven't walked out the store. Please. Can I pay for this? Please don't do this. Please be >> Please. Put your hand. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. [ __ ] Okay. Look, >> put your hands behind your back. >> Okay, let me call my mom. Please >> put your hands behind your back. >> We're not calling your mom right now. >> I promise you, >> you're going to go to down to the ground. >> Okay. Okay. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. Why are y'all doing trying to >> Because you're resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> You are. >> I'm Please. >> The woman completely failed in her attempts to beg the officers for leniency, but she had no intention of giving up. Instead, she shifted her pleas toward the store representatives. >> There's nobody to talk to. They already made up their mind about what they want to do. >> Please, please, ma'am. I will pay for everything. >> Please, please, >> please, please. I am so sorry. I will never do it again. Please, please. I got the money right now. I will pay for it every day. Please, ma'am. Okay. Please, please, please. Okay. >> Turn your wrist inwards. >> Face your hands towards each other. >> Do I know there's something? Listen to me. >> I'm sorry. Please. >> Okay. [laughter] >> Can I do my phone, please? >> Don't worry about it that way. All right. >> I just really want to talk to my mom, please. >> You'll be able to call it out to jail. >> No. Please, please, >> please do this. >> In the office, too, because there she has some other stuff >> here. What? Can I just drop it out, please? >> Please. >> Yeah, go ahead. You got anything else on you? >> No, I don't have anything else as much, please. >> It's okay. >> Moments later, despite her desperate and feudal please, the officers began pulling out the items she had continued trying to conceal. >> What she got? >> I don't got nothing else on me, dude. >> We're going to find out, you better look. Listen, y'all. I'm not trying to be no harder than this is. >> Hold on. Can you What are you doing? I'm just looking at what's in your pocket. >> Can I see that? Please. Please. Please. >> Please. >> Relax. >> Look. Hold on. Let me show you. No. I'm trying to get it out for you. >> What are you trying to get out? >> Can I Can I show you? >> What is it? >> It's closed. Please. >> Why are you pulling me? Stop. I'm not trying. Listen to me. You're You're not doing anything. I will get the clothes. >> That's what we're trying to tell you. >> I'm I'm going to listen. I'm going to abide. Please. >> Okay. Well, we're not doing a very good job right now. >> Can I get a number? >> You'll be able to do that. >> I can't get that. The jail's not going to let me get that. >> Always let you get a number up my phone. >> Yes, I'll >> y'all are positive. >> I'm 100%. >> My one time, please. I will be quiet. >> Smoke inside. >> We'll we'll talk about it when we get outside. You can't smoke inside. >> Okay. >> Okay. Is this Look, she ain't got nothing else in here. Just outside her jacket. picture. I'm sorry. >> Here, if you'll take the cuffs off me, I'll take the jacket off right now. >> What is this? Do you have a second hoodie on? >> What are you talking about? Yes, that's what she's talking about. >> I don't know if this is ours or not. I didn't I didn't >> No, this is mine. I bought this. And >> what did you steal that? It's on >> this. >> Okay. Okay. Yeah, I'm >> technically has been to just pay for it. Y'all can get banned out of ban me from the store. >> She begged to be merely banned from the store as if she knew exactly how shoplifting cases were typically handled and had been through this before. Meanwhile, the officers uncovered even more suspicious items during their search. >> Okay, they're prescribed to you. >> They are prescribed to me. >> Well, one of them says Eden Joy Solomon on it. Let me do it. It's permeable. >> That's my Okay, that's my boyfriend's mom. >> That's >> Don't have anything that's not supposed to be in there. >> That is >> There's nothing in there. So, >> just bags, dude. >> No. >> I promise you they just bags. If there were jugs, I promise you I'd have already done it. I'm going to a detox, bro. I would have already done it. >> They're just bags. I promise you. >> Please don't make this no hard. I know. >> That don't look like no bag to me. >> What? I swear some powder up there. >> But come on. It's a residue. Please don't. >> What do you do? What do you What drug do you do? >> Fentanyl me. >> No, I sold fentanyl. And >> you sold fentanyl. >> I sold not like recently. Okay. I sold fentanyl and then Okay. I really had um a methamphetamine addiction, but I went to rehab, completed it, find colors. You know what I'm saying? Haven't had problems with meth. I haven't had [snorts] >> problems with none of that [ __ ] >> Let's get outside and we'll figure all that out. Question about that. >> The woman continued to lie about the pills the officers had discovered, but she had no idea that they possessed the proper tools to verify the truth behind those medications. I mean, >> there's nothing actually on it, dude. It's old. I said I did. I used >> girlfriend. That That is residue all up in there. >> Yes, I'm saying. But it's old. You're not going to find nothing. I got a hoarding problem. >> Telling you, you're not going to find nothing in there. Swear. >> All I'm talking is a bunch of paraphernalia. That's what >> I know that, but I'm saying you're not going to find no drugs. Cuz I don't do drugs. That's why I want to go to >> Nobody's saying that you do. >> Well, I know. But you applying it. I >> ain't going to lie. I am a addict. But I only reason I can say like this be a learning lesson. >> I'm going to stand right here on the 911. Okay. >> My baby. >> He's going to take care of that. But I got to search. >> Yeah. He's got to search you first. You let me do what I need to do. >> All right. S. It's time to get in the car so we can move on. The longer you take get in the car. As long as we take >> get you to jail. I'm not even worried about coming tomorrow. >> Thank you. >> My phone's going to be in the back, right? >> Yes, your phone's going to I'm sorry for asking you, but they're >> okay. They're going to let you get numbers out your phone. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting, retail theft, and drugrelated charges. Actions have consequences, and trying to avoid responsibility with excuses and dishonesty only made the situation worse. Honesty and accountability from the start could have prevented further trouble. Even more shocking, the next shoplifting case involved a daughter who led her own mother into stealing. Remove the sensor from the shoes with either the scissors or the fire. >> And that's fine. Again, you didn't make any attempt to pay for any of these items. Correct. >> I like you didn't because you didn't pay for them, right? >> On the 25th of June 2024, officers responded to a report from Nordstrom that a student and her mother had stolen a large amount of merchandise. Upon arriving, the loss prevention officer immediately pointed out the signs of their shoplifting. >> Hey, how you doing? >> This was recovered off of her purse. Um, she had scissors on her. They took makeup, the handbag and the shoes. Okay. >> They removed the sensor from the shoes with either the scissors or the pliers. >> Gotcha. And then if you just have your driver's license on, we'll grab that from you as well. >> I don't know. Do you speak you speak English? >> Yeah, I do. >> Okay. But She She understands a bit like I need to translate to her. >> What What language? >> Bangla. >> Bangla. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you guys have driver's licenses? >> Um I don't have my wallet, but I can show you. And >> do you have a Florida driver's license? >> She has one as well. >> No, she doesn't. >> Okay. >> She has her ID, but she doesn't have her driver license. >> What state is the ID out of? >> Uh Florida. >> Florida. Okay. Gotcha. All right. [clears throat] >> Get a receipt. two separate stuff. >> It's all going to be together. They're getting charged all >> together. >> Yeah, that's Yeah, that's >> Meanwhile, other officers separately interviewed the loss prevention officer to obtain a firsthand account of what he had seen on surveillance cameras. >> Perfect. Can you just tell us what happened? So I was doing uh for surveillance in the police department um when I saw the subject the one wearing the blue shirt and blue jeans the older subject approach the makeup area started selecting numerous makeup items. Um I began surveillance because automatically she selected it. Uh she placed on top of her purse and then she went and she selected a black Kate Spade handbag and put that in the shopping cart that she had with her. Um she then while in the accessories department all the makeup into the purse um it was a blue purse I believe and then they uh exited the department both both subjects uh went into men's shoes. The older subject that still had the purse and the cart attempted to remove a sensor couldn't do it. So >> do you know what she used to try to remove it >> at that time? Nothing. >> Okay. >> Um they both went into women's shoes. >> So she was just trying to pull it off. Okay. Gotcha. >> They both went into women's shoes. Um the younger subject pulled a object. There was a silver um object out of her purse and gave it to the mom. She clipped the sensor off of the purse, gave it back to the daughter, the tool, and then she put it back in her purse. >> Okay. >> Um then she took the purse and she put in the brown Nordstrom shopping bag that the daughter had. >> Okay. Did they bring that in with them? Do you know? >> Um they had it on them when I started watching. So I believe so. Immediately afterward, the daughter was separated for a private interrogation. It seemed as though she was about to confess, but it quickly became clear that she had other plans. >> For me, like my mom, it's not even like our first time. So, I'm saying like for me and my mom, it was like our first time. So, today all I did was like the makeup and even the bag like I wanted to buy it. So, they were saying like a security thing that wasn't the case. And like if you look in the that bag had nothing in it. So what I came in was to return. That's all. So it was the makeup and the slides. I'll uh get purse. But like if you guys want me to pay like I'll pay for everything right now. That's like what my mom was saying as well cuz actually like it was a mistake cuz we have like never done anything before and even with the the kitchen scissors and everything cuz our house is like so new and we were going to uh HomeGoods to buy the painting and we removed like a few of the paintings and everything and that was the only reason to hang them and stuff. I have literally not used them for anything like the security tags what they were talking about and even like the woman inside like she she knows and she's like I she saw it that there was no security tag or none of those things were like used to cut anything. >> Okay. So from what I understand you said that you come in you came in here to return. >> Would you have believed her story so easily? The officers certainly didn't. After reviewing the surveillance footage they began exposing the woman's lies one by one. So, when I watched that video and you came in without a pair of shoes, >> you didn't come into the store with a pair of shoes. >> Yes, I came in with Yeah, >> that's not what the video shows. >> No, I'm telling you. I'm being truthful. >> Okay. So, you come in with a pair of shoes. >> It went to my large turn bag like at the >> So, you come in, you say with the pair of shoes, right? You said you guys went and looked at the makeup section, correct? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, did you select the makeup or did mom select the makeup? >> Mom. >> Mom. Okay. So, mom selected the makeup. Do you know exactly what she took? >> Not sure. >> Okay. Was the makeup for you? >> Do you mind going around for me? >> Okay. >> Just give us a minute, please. So, she selected the makeup. Who was the makeup for? >> Not for me. >> That was not for you. But you knew she was taking the makeup. Yeah, I had I had a first like we >> did you guys discuss that she was going to take the makeup? >> No, nothing like this. Like our intention was to buy everything like even even the bags cuz we always I come in I always buy and everything. >> Never done it before. >> She grabs the makeup, right? Where does she put the makeup? >> It's on the cart. >> On the cart? >> Yeah. Okay. >> The whole time. >> She didn't put it in her bag in I think in the last moment >> that she put it in the bag. >> Her purse. Correct. Not the purse that you got from the store, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, she puts it in her purse. After she puts it in her purse, >> actually, I'm not sure cuz I think it's I'm I'm not sure if I'm right. I think it's the bag either or that cuz I didn't see properly. >> That's fine. So, you guys are at the makeup section. Once you leave the makeup section, where do you guys go? >> Uh, we were just checking the shoes. >> Okay. Which shoes? Men's or women's? >> We checked the men's shoes. >> Okay. So, you're in the men's shoes section. What happens next? Uh, we just take a pair of slides just as a gift and yeah, that's it. >> The confusion on the woman's face only made it harder for her to hide the truth. Moments later, the officers gave her one more chance to come clean. >> Yes. >> Were you thinking about paying for the items that you guys had? >> That's what we had first in our mind to pay. >> Okay. So, you were thinking about paying for it. Okay. So, what happened between thinking about paying for it and leaving without paying? >> Did you guys have a conversation saying, "No, I'm not I'm just not going to pay." Or what happened there? It wasn't like my like I took anything. I It was mostly like my mom. >> It was just your mom that took everything. >> But I was there. So I I like I'm >> So you knew that she had took the items. Okay. So you never got in line. You never attempted to pay for the items? >> I was having a conversation with her like about the returning the shoes. >> Okay. >> Cuz And then I just we walked out. >> Okay. So you never attempted to pay for the items. You never got in line to pay for them. You just left without them. We were having the conversation about like let's pay like before putting anything in about returning and cuz we hadn't put anything before. It was at the last minute. >> Okay. So, you had a conversation about paying for the items and then you guys decided not to pay for them, right? So, you walked out the door, you passed all points of sale, didn't attempt to pay for anything, correct? >> At the last one, like we we wanted to pay, >> but you didn't. Correct. Okay. Got it. So, you got outside the store and that's when the loss prevention officer stopped you. Correct. Okay. Let's talk about all of the screwdrivers, clippers, all that stuff, the scissors. >> What's all that for? >> Okay, so even if you see the bag, none of the items had any security tags or nothing cuz >> I can tell you right now, and we're being honest, and I'm going to level with you because this isn't my first day, right? >> All of the high-end bags that they have here all have security tags. >> It did. I'm going to tell you, it did have a security tag. So, I'm listen to me. Don't talk over me, okay? >> If you paid close attention, she only admitted those details after the officer specifically asked about them. She never voluntarily confessed to what she had done. The same went for cutting off the security tag as she seemed determined to minimize her responsibility. >> So, that mom's holding the bag. She tried to cut the wire for the uh anti- theft or anti-shoplifting device when you guys were at a different section in the store. When you guys went to the shoe section, you handed her clippers, she cut it, and you guys left. Is that accurate? >> No. Um the it's it's the shoe area where we took it, but none of the things were cut. Like, I'm being completely honest. That bag did not have anything in it. Like, no security. >> You've been honest with me thus far, so I'm It's a little frustrating for me when you're lying to me about cutting the the anti- theft device off of it. >> I'm telling you, like I have not. >> Okay. the entire time. I'm being honest. Like, if you check, that bag did not have any type of tag in it. >> I'm just so that you're aware, >> he's saying he watched you guys do it, right? I have video of you guys doing it, right? So, you're saying you didn't do it, which that's fine. You have every right to say you didn't do it. >> But I'm being really honest, too. >> Okay. >> The bag did not have it. >> Okay. And that's fine. Again, you didn't make any attempt to pay for any of these items, correct? >> I like >> You didn't because you didn't pay for them, right? >> Right. >> Yes. >> Okay. I understand. >> You said that you've done this before, correct? But just with makeup. >> No, no, no. I'm saying it's my first time. I'm saying it's my first time with I have done the makeup thing. Like the >> makeup you have taken makeup before. >> Emmer, you said that to me. You said that you've done you've taken makeup before. >> No, I'm talking about that certain makeup. That's what I'm saying. Like my mom has never done anything. >> So mom's never shoplifted before. You're saying you've taken makeup? >> I'm saying that the first thing I went to the makeup section and she chose everything. So I'm saying the makeup was like the first idea. Like that's what we went the bag and everything. We planned on buying it. >> Okay. But you didn't. >> Yeah. >> So yeah, your intent was to never buy anything. Correct. >> In the end, the student and her mother were charged with grand theft. Crime often begins with small lies, but those lies only make the consequences far worse. Taking responsibility early is always better than trying to hide the truth. What do you think about cases like this?
