Lieutenant Brian Solar, coming up on 37 years in law enforcement, 32 with City of Mesa. I've been on the honor guard for 27 of those. I've been the commander of the honor guard for 15 years. I've attended 30 police weeks total. And it has been one of the greatest honors and privilege of my career to serve on the Mesa Police Honor Guard. >> I have transferred my title of uh honor guard commander over to Kevin Bailey. He is now the honor guard commander because I'm going to be retiring. And I'm very, very happy he has the same passion and love for the honor guard and taking care of our fallen officers as I do. And this trip is very special to me because it will be my last trip as a sworn police officer. And it's uh it's I'm happy, but I'm also very sad to see this era come to an end, but it's time for me to move on and >> time for Kevin to step up and take over, and he's going to do a great job. There is no greater honor than to wear that uniform and represent for the families of the fallen. That's what the honor guard truly is. That's why it was designed. That's why it was developed way back before I was a police officer. It is to show our country that we respect, we honor, and we cherish the fallen officers and their families. It has been the honor and privilege of my life to be on the honor guard. And now that it's coming to an end, the only thing I can say is I hope and pray that we never have to put another name on our wall or the national wall or the state wall, but unfortunately that's going to happen. And I will always keep the honor guard close to my heart. I will always be there if they ever need anything, but it is time for me to fade away and it's time for new people to take over and I know that Mace Police Honor Guard will lead the way and I feel comfortable leaving knowing that I have completed everything I wanted to do and got the right person for the job to fill my shoes and I'm good.
