I'm a sorry ass person. I'm going through a lot in my life. >> You got kids? >> No, I don't got no kids. >> GET ON THE FLOOR. [screaming] GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. >> OKAY. At Walmart, some shoplifterss think they've won the moment they walk past the exit, unaware they're being recorded the entire time. Their free shopping trip soon [music] becomes undeniable evidence against them. There are the moments when Walmart shoplifter thought she got away with the merchandise undetected. Every case tells a different story about justice. Like this video and subscribe to This is Law to stay with us for the next one. Starting with a woman who believed having an EBT card gave her special rights. >> I'm like focused. Okay. >> All I want tight. >> I put them real loose. Now >> that really tight the on my wrist. You loosen the wrist part. >> On the 13th of September 2025, police responded to a report from a Walmart store about a woman who had skipped scanning several items at the selfch checkckout. Here's what happened when officers approached her. >> What's your name, young lady? >> Um, Brianna. >> Briana. Okay. >> Oh, he already wrote everything down. >> Oh, you have to do it, too. >> I got Yeah, this is my town. My town. >> All right. Can we go in here and talk really quick? Sorry. >> I don't want to go all the way in there. I'm like claustrophobic. I I don't want to be in there. >> All right. Thank you. And uh your phone number. >> Why do you need the phone? >> I need that. >> Why? >> Because >> Because >> So I got to talk to them, but right now you're not free to leave. So I'm going to need it for my report. That's why. >> All right. >> Okay. >> So what's Brianna? Stick with me. All right. We'll talk. >> You got an Illinois state ID or driver's license? with me. >> The woman initially remained calm and cooperative, believing she would still be able to leave, but her attitude quickly changed after officers informed her that things were not going to go the way she expected. >> So, because you are not free to go. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> No, you are not free to go. >> Why? >> Because I got to talk to them. I just got here. I know you've been here a while, but I'm I'm the investigating officer here, young lady. Come on, bear with me. I got to find out what what happened. >> Nothing happened. And I didn't pay for all of my items. And that's why I'm here. All right. So, because you are not free to go, you have the right to remain silent. You understand each of these rights I've explained to you, Brianna? >> All right. Having these rights in mind, you wish to talk to me? >> No. >> No. Okay. All right. You >> I don't know my car. Do you mind sticking with our friend? You're not fair going to >> She acted arrogantly because she refused to accept the officer's decision, but as the loss prevention team statement later made clear, the woman had been in the wrong all along. Uh, so I was alerted by the self check out host that she had all the food that was scanning and she was beginning to pay. It was a whole bunch of stuff that was not on the receipt. >> Okay. >> Way underneath. >> Yeah. >> That was way underneath. Um, and she didn't even attempt to scan. >> Then we watched the I had him run it back and she ain't attempt to scan nothing. >> Okay. So, how much is it? >> Okay. And what's that other stuff? What is it? >> Uh, not EBT worthy. She paid $94 in EBT out of a $100 bill and um $5 on her debit card. >> $5 on a debit. Okay. How much stuff is it over there? >> Um, it's probably like a if not 100, a little bit over. >> What is is that also food or not? >> No, it's not. general merchandise like shoes, clothes, >> sippy cups, paper towels, >> a worker that works at the subject. >> Given her well-kept appearance, it was hard to believe she was an EBT card holder. Even worse, [music] because of her attitude, store employees went on to report several additional incidents involving her before deciding to press [music] charges. >> Observe her not paying for the stuff. >> Okay. What do you guys want? prosecute. >> Okay. >> And trespass, >> okay, >> cuz she was not cooperative at all. She tried to snatch the car away from me and asked her to come out and final point of sale. Yeah. When I stopped her in the best of bills on the other side. I asked her for her receipt. She gave me this one. I looked at it, glanced at it. I said, "Do you have another one?" She told me no. I said, "Do you want to come and you come back with me so we can talk about the um tape for merchandise?" She told no. I'm trying to bring her back around this way. She got like five, six kids with her. So, I'm not trying to, you know, >> sure. Make it seem. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Then when she seen um her speed, then she was like, "Oh, you want to go over here?" Like, "Yeah, I've been asking you to do that." >> True. Okay. >> And she want to argue with me about paying for it. Well, you could I could pay for it. I could pay for it. You could, but you didn't. >> Right. >> It's not like nobody else run you up. You made this choice. [snorts] >> She didn't want to come in here as long as she don't want to be in here. She said she aid. one night. I hope you give him the right name cuz that's a whole another >> Yeah, we're going to find out. >> All right. So, obviously you don't want to talk to me. Um, so we got to hammer out some things. We're waiting on the receipt and that's going to determine what happens with you next. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. >> The woman still showed no sign of recognizing her own wrongdoing. Even as officers began placing her under arrest, she had to be handcuffed because of her behavior. >> Can you just turn around? Put your put your handcuffs really quick. >> Oh, wait. You're able to test me. >> Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. Brianna, >> I'm not young lady. I'm not doing anything. >> Thank you. >> All right. All right. Um, mind hold. >> So, what's going on now? >> Let me take a look. Yeah. >> Why am I in handcuffs? >> Is this all the stuff? >> Can I uh get it out here, please? >> Actually, you mind taking her to my car? >> Yeah. So, this is all the stuff that she didn't pay for. >> Correct. Okay. >> I'm going to take a picture of this receipt. >> And everything in this cart is everything that she didn't pay for. >> Correct. >> All right. Cool. All right. And you guys want prosecution? >> Yes. >> So, you were alerted by an associate. Hey, you did you observe any of this or you pulled up? >> When I walked up, I observed that she had all this stuff up underneath >> underneath the car. So she had stuff that she had paid for on top in bags. Was this stuff bagged or no? >> No. >> No, not bagged. >> Wasn't bagged. So basically, just picture all this stuff on top of >> Got it. Got it. Makes sense. Okay. You got no record. If you're saying you got no record, then uh you'll be cut loose within an hour. >> Okay. >> These are still tight. >> I put them real loose. Now >> they're really tight. The on my wrist. You loosen the wrist part. That's what's tight. >> Did you tell your boyfriend to come pick you up? >> Yeah. I told him, thank you. We're not too far from you. >> Can I need to fix my clothes? My my shirt is following me. >> Here, we're going to have >> On the way to the police station, the officer explained what she would be facing next. >> You're going to the PD. Get a charge. One charge, one count of retail theft, and we're going to keep it moving. Okay. >> What about everything to my car? >> No, we just gave it to your uh to your man. >> No, the stuff that >> you paid for it. >> It was back to the car. >> No, no, no. He just picked it up. Oh >> yeah, you just Yeah, you just picked it up. >> Oh >> yeah, he didn't leave yet. >> So you don't want to waste that. You know what I mean? >> You paid for that. >> You know what I mean? >> And they can't I don't think they can refund EBT. >> Well, >> you know what I mean? What the hell's wrong with this thing? >> There it is. >> I'm not trying to >> I know. I know. But it's just protocol. You know what I mean, young lady? >> Hey, see you feeling good back there? As best as you could. >> Yeah. >> All right. Uh, this female officer will help you out with that. >> Sorry, Jad. Here, move your seat belt out of the way. >> Okay, cool. You can walk up the ramp. Thank you. Right at this ramp right here. >> In the end, Briana was charged with one count of retail theft. This case is a reminder that trying to pay only for some items while hiding the rest is still theft. Once there is clear evidence of intent, excuses made after being caught rarely change the outcome. Before we move on to the next shoplifting case, let's take a look at this remarkable fraud investigation. >> They don't know you. You don't work for them. Can you just You want to tell me the truth or you you you good with what you said already? >> I don't know anything about this. >> On the 10th of July 2023, officers were dispatched to a Dollar General after receiving a report that a woman had attempted to cash a fraudulent check there. When they arrived, the suspect had already gotten into a vehicle and appeared ready to leave, but officers stopped the car before he could drive away. Here's what happened next. >> Hello. >> Hi. How you doing? >> Corporal Deb at the Savannah Police Department. The reason I pulled over is cuz your passenger is listed suspect for some fraudulent activity that's going on in this right now. Um, I'm going to need your passenger's ID and yours. >> Here you go, man. >> Thank you, man. >> Thank y'all. Just sit tight for me. I'll be right back with you. Okay. >> Okay. >> Hopefully, I'll be able to let y'all go in just a minute. >> Okay. >> All right. We got the suspect in this car. She's in the passenger. >> Immediately afterward, officers called a man named Robert who was believed to be the victim after his checks had been stolen by the woman. He also provided additional details about how the fraud had been carried out. >> $157 to yellow pages online in Tennessee. Someone took it out of the mail. They washed it and they filled it out for $15,000 back in the cash. And when they watched it, they made a copy of it. They changed the check number by one number from 2845. They changed it to 2855. And then they wrote the second check for 8600. and made a depos casher and just trying to cash it there. >> Absolutely. All righty. Um, would you like to press charges? >> Yes, sir. >> Absolutely. Thank you, sir. And I'll be with you shortly. So, that was the owner of the chat. He's confirmed that he had it stolen out of his mailbox and they've been making copies of it, washing them and re getting them issued, that he hasn't authorized any. >> Meanwhile, another officer approached an employee at the store involved in the incident, who then described what had happened from his perspective. >> She came in with that check and I called the maker. I called the phone number on the check and he said he said she stole I don't know what happened. >> She said she applied for a job on the internet. >> Okay. >> So she obviously put it into her bank. They sent that back to her as a legal document. >> This one >> that's just a copy. >> Okay. >> Right. That right down there. That's the check. >> That's the legal copy of of the check. So, he said it was fraud that someone took a check or somehow got a check or whatever and cashed one for $15,000 and they took this check and redid it or I don't know what he was saying, but she presented it. That's her ID. Um, that's her parents' names that she gave me and that's all information I can tell you. >> Absolutely. >> And she left. >> Is there a reason she ran out of here? Did she give you anything? She she was pretty cool and calm and collected for 5 or 10 12 15 minutes and then I guess I was talking to the man and we had a couple other people come in and you know I was telling her I was getting the money together and I had to wait to get the final approval. She waited a couple more minutes and then all of a sudden she left she got called away or something by somebody in a car. It was a blue Nissan. I didn't get the tag. She she got told by something you better come down, >> right? >> It's cuz they seen me pull up. I got them both in handcuffs over there. >> You do? >> H what? >> How'd you do that? >> It's cuz I got here fast enough. >> Once everything had been confirmed, officers separated the two women. The driver was questioned separately, but strangely, she began denying that she even knew the other woman. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments. >> What's going on? And I was just drinking up and I didn't know anything about any of this. >> All righty. Well, the call that we got is that bad checks were being passed through >> through like were there. >> Mhm. Is that illegal fraudulently made checks were being >> trying to be cashed by the young lady that was in your passenger seat. >> Oh. Um for very significant amounts. Okay. >> Um $86,000. $8,600. >> You only do one count. 3340 is a felony. She'll be arraigned tomorrow. >> This has been going on bad for a while now. >> Hey, lady. >> You know him? >> No, I got your ID. Listen, what y'all doing, man? >> I just bring you know what? What's your relationship to her? >> She my friend. >> What's her um Gabrielle? >> Yeah, she my friend. >> How long y'all been friends? Long time. What? Since little kids, high school. >> Yeah. Like we went to school together. >> Went to school together. >> I'm just asking cuz your friend about to go to jail. >> Why she going to jail for? >> Cuz that check is fake and she It's not her check. She's going to jail and it's a felony. That's why I'm asking cuz she's not getting out. She's going to go to jail and can't get out till tomorrow. And that's if the judge give her bond. So that's why I'm asking cuz I need to know who I need to tell this to. So if you're not the person I need to be talking to and you just giving her a ride, then I don't need to be talked to. That's why I asked. The driver was determined to be uninvolved in the incident and was released shortly afterward. Meanwhile, as the female suspect faced police questioning, she only raised further suspicion by repeatedly changing her story. >> And tell me what's going on. >> So, yes or no first before we get started. You want to talk to me? >> Yes, that's >> okay. Go ahead. So, basically, um, I tried to that check was getting deposited into my Chase. Chase sent me that paper that he gave you saying that it was in the deposit of my not enough money. I wasn't understanding what that meant. So my home girl was like, "Well, let's cash it either at this one or Walmart." >> This this who gave you this? You went to the bank? >> No. Yeah, the bank sent me this. And also, >> when did they send you this? On this day? >> Um, no, not >> enough funds to pay this check. You cannot deposit this. They sent They sent this to you cuz this was >> That was That was the deposit date. >> Yeah. You tried to deposit on June the 26th and they said it wasn't enough. >> Yeah, it was getting deposited in my account that day, but then it sent but then it sent me that like maybe like last week, like maybe last week, Friday. >> And then you got a check back? >> Yeah, I got that check and this paper together. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> And they told you that not enough funds to pay this check. You cannot you can deposit it again. >> So that's why I went up to there to >> So you wasn't going back to the bank to cash it. You was going to go over here. Yeah, >> cuz they said it wasn't you couldn't cash it. >> Well, he said I was able to. He said >> No, I'm saying the bank said you couldn't. >> Yeah. So the bank since the bank said I couldn't cash it. I was going to go to here or either Walmart to cash it and the man was like okay well it was fine. He was asking me questions and then next thing you know I walk up to the car to my home girl car and she's like well I'm like well hold on I got to go to Dollar General real quick to get some cuz he said it's going to be a while. It's a lot of cash. I said okay that's fine. When we pulling up he's pulling up behind us saying that I'm doing for fud. So I'm like okay well I got that from the mail. >> You got this from the mail? >> Yes ma'am. >> Who is who are the people? Who are these people? That's the company that I work for. But that is my name on the check. Yes. >> The company you work for? >> No, that's the company. This is the company that I work for. Yes. The Gro Crane Services Inc.? Yes. >> Where is that located? >> It's located all the way in per It's one in Polar and then it's one um around the corner. But I work at the one all the way in Puller and I work at Top. >> Do you have check stabs on you? >> No, I don't. >> You have. >> Officers even tried to verify her employment by looking into the company she claimed to work for, but they came up empty-handed. You have a number of a manager or something that we can call to check to see if you work there? >> No, I don't have a I mean I can't call the manager. The manager doesn't really We text in a group chat. I don't ever really call the manager. >> I'm saying who can confirm that you work there? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Who's there that we can talk to? >> Nobody there right now that um I can talk to personally. No, not right now. But I do also work at Top Crab as well. >> And why would they give you a check for $8,600? That was my check that they owed me back all the way in co because they were behind on the checks and I they owed me that check. I stopped working all last year for them and I started working at Top Crab and they owed me the check during co time. >> And they mailed you this? >> Yeah, that's what they claimed. They No, they didn't mail me this check. They tried to do it in my deposit. I opened up a Chase account so they could deposit that money in my account. But when they tried to deposit, that's when I received >> Who tried to deposit? I guess when the uh the company tried to deposit in my account that I received the email saying that the check was returned back. >> The company not going to send a check to the bank like this. They just do direct deposit. >> Yeah, direct deposit. >> But they didn't they didn't they're not going to give them this check. >> That's the check that they sent me. >> They you said they sent it to you or they sent it to the bank. >> They they they tried to do direct deposit in my Chase and then I received the email saying that it's not going to do it. So then I received that check and that paper together saying with my trace on it saying that you >> So you don't have I'm saying when the last time you went to work at this place in Pula last time I went to was last Sunday cuz >> what's the address there? >> The address? >> Yeah. >> It's um on Buckton Boulevard. >> I know. I said how what's the address? How long you been working there? >> I just started back working this week. Well, not like well not this week but sometime a couple of months ago. >> You you you started. She still had no intention of telling the truth. After officers bluntly confronted her with what they believed had happened, the woman was finally forced to admit it. >> That's what I'm trying to tell you to go ahead and be honest because >> what you're saying I don't believe. >> So if you you don't want to tell me the truth, I mean, I'm going by what they say. This is their account, right? >> This their business. >> I know that check is not mine. >> Okay. >> Somebody that I know of was trying to deposit a check into my account saying that this is my money. This this is this is the money that they owe me. When the check didn't go through it, they said I was going to receive it through the mail. I said, "Okay." They they I was talking to them and they said, "Hey, well, you can deposit again." When I seen that it say I could deposit. >> It's them. You don't want to tell the person name. They're a friend of yours. >> Yes, they are. >> They are. So, >> well, supposedly. >> So, you going to take this ride by yourself? You're going to take this felony hit by yourself? This is a felony. >> Do you go to school? >> No, but I was trying to >> This a felony? This is serious. This is this is this is a felony and you won't be able to get out of jail till tomorrow if the judge give you a bond. So you want to you want to protect the person that gave you this fake check? That's crazy. That's so crazy to me that you were willing to do that. >> So you Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You going to go to jail for a check that you somebody that you know somebody gave you a fake check, put your name on here and told you to go cashing and you did it. So you don't want to give up that information? >> Just a check. Hm. >> The driver. >> Who else? The driver. What driver? >> Allayia. >> Allayia. >> She gave you this check. >> Hm. >> The check she was trying to deposit into my Chase account, but since it didn't go through, she told me to go to the >> How often y'all do this? >> This is my first time. I >> She do it all the time. >> Not that I know. I don't know. I personally >> How close are you? >> The woman was charged with thirdderee forgery. [music] Fraud often begins with a promise that sounds easy and risk-free, but the legal consequences are anything but. A single dishonest decision can leave you with a criminal record that lasts far longer than any temporary financial gain. Next, this woman could not escape what the cameras had recorded. >> You guys happy to see what she like concealed? >> It's the glove she's wearing. And then there's some sustain. [music] On the 15th of February 2025, police received a call from Walmart reporting that they had caught a woman committing theft inside the store. Her actions were still ongoing. And when officers arrived at the scene, they were able to witness everything through the surveillance cameras. >> Hello. Hello. >> If you could wear she has them right there in her hand. Only the white vehicle is there. [clears throat] Everyone is appears to be just >> No, it's not something the other look hands under her arm. Does she have right there? >> So, she's with that dude. >> Yeah. >> The male had a bandana. I don't know why he did it because I kept on. >> You guys happy to see what she like concealed? It's the glove she's wearing. And then there's some sunglasses she has. >> The gloves she's wearing. >> Yeah. It looks like bandages, but I guess they're gloves. >> $3 item. He has something too, but I don't I'm on him. The paper's free or no? >> No paper. >> Oh, sorry. >> Log you guys wanted to she charges trespass or >> not sure it was like holding. >> Well, they're thinking she's trespassed already, so they're trying to find that. >> But she does have those two items charges for those. >> Um, yeah. >> Hopefully they don't go off though. >> They might. Should I tell [music] you guys? There's an exit in automotive. It's >> that door. It's just that door. Going to try to go out through. Okay, let's go. Okay. >> The moment they attempted to leave through the store's back exit, they were stopped by the loss prevention officers. They were then taken to the loss prevention office after being placed in handcuffs. Go ahead, turn around. Yes. I'll be reporting more to the original. You're being detained fair enough. >> Okay, here's a Here's a receipt for items. >> Why am I being detained? >> For shoplifting. >> I was not Let's go. >> You're saying this is what you bought today? >> Yes. What color is it? >> The woman denied committing theft, but she later explained her actions, which were considered conduct that could result in her arrest. >> So, the reason we're here is because you're saying that you were concealing things on your person. So concealing [snorts] means that you're like hiding things like inside of your >> So they did tell us that you were um concealing some items. So you were observed on the video camera. >> Okay. But you can check right there. I I didn't I did it. >> Okay. And everything that's on you? >> Yes. >> Is yours nothing from the store? >> No, this is my mine. >> Yes. I didn't take anything. You did buy he they're back over there. >> Back where I was I had them on and I took him off. >> Okay. Where'd you leave them? >> I didn't leave them nowhere. I left where the where the gloves and everything that I left them there >> like on in the store out outside the store. >> On the on the rack. I put them on and look at I didn't like them so I threw them back in there. I don't have it. You could check. I don't have no gloves. Those are the only two things I bought. He bought for me. [music] >> I put them back on the rack. >> Yeah. No, I put him back on the rack >> and they got her outside. >> I didn't have him outside. >> I didn't take him outside. >> I didn't. >> You understand this is an arrestable offense. So, your level of cooperation is going to determine whether or not >> it was clear that this woman did not realize that her actions were considered a crime. On top of that, she had already been trespassed from the store and she confirmed shortly afterward that she knew about it. >> Do you know you've been trespassed from him before? >> Yes. Like did they tell him what happened or >> that I'll get a ticket or something to make? >> I didn't even receive. >> I didn't walk out the store though. >> I get back to him. He said to give it back to him. So I gave back to him. Who told you to give it back to you guys? >> Did you say when you were exiting right now? Is that when you gave it to him? >> Yeah. I gave it to him. >> I didn't walk out the store though. I'm sorry. >> Is that the only Is that the only thing you >> Yeah, we bought those right there. >> That means that you can't be in the parking lot. You can't go to this Walmart to shop. You're no longer welcome at this Walmart. They want you on the property. >> I said he said he doesn't know anything. a lot like the female. >> The man was determined to have no knowledge of the woman's actions and the store employees confirmed that shortly afterward. The officers explained what he would have to face based on the store's decision. >> Okay, so they're going to want you trespass from their property. Okay, that means that you can't be in the parking lot. You can't come to this Walmart to shop. You're no longer welcome at this Walmart. They don't want you on the property. If they find you on the property shopping, >> what what did I do? >> It's because you're with a individual who's known to shop with. She's already been trespassed. She they have a trespassing card for her. So it's kind of like who you hang out with obviously and they just don't want that kind of company around. Okay. So you're not able to shop here. That's unlimited. So if they come back in 5 years with this and they want to pursue charges for that, you can get cited or arrested for for the trespassing. Okay. >> All right. Do you understand? >> All right. Just let me clear up the rest of it and then you'll be free to take these items and then probably head out. All right. Excuse me. jail. I won't come back over here again. >> Well, this guy I him. He said he doesn't know anything about like her concealing and stuff like that. They just want to trust us. >> Did you guys come together? >> Yeah. >> The woman tried to plead for herself after seeing the man being released, but it was clearly impossible. She showed no sign of remorse and even resisted before being taken away. >> I got it. >> 1756. Here. Put your hands behind. I will go into your pockets. I don't need you to go into your pockets. >> I'm going into your pockets. >> All right. All right. Stop. >> Stop. Yes. >> You're going to be >> You need to stop. You need to stop. >> All right. Do you have leggings underneath this? >> Yes. >> Switch me or you got it. >> So, you want to switch me or you got that pocket? I haven't checked that pocket. >> My cell phone and all my stuff. You're being searched. Okay. We can go ahead without anything else. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and trespassing. This case shows that denying wrongdoing does not erase the evidence. Ignoring a trespass order and continuing illegal actions can turn a simple theft investigation into much more serious consequences. [music] Next, this woman turned her crime into a felony without a care. >> All right, listen. >> What? >> Don't do that. What's the hang of I don't know y'all all three big. >> Okay. >> On the 19th of September 2024, deputies responded to a Walmart after receiving a report that a woman had been removing security tags from merchandise inside a fitting room. They had no idea that what appeared to be a simple shoplifting investigation would ultimately lead to four additional criminal charges. Here's what happened when they arrived at the scene. >> Come here. Cuz they said something about you might be taking some stuff out the the department of >> Yeah. You ain't got nothing in your bag. >> My twins in there though right now. >> You got a twin in there? >> Just like me. >> Really? Wearing the same thing you got? >> No, but she doesn't have red hair. You better >> Okay. Well, we'll figure that out here in just a second. Come here. They said that you come out of the dressing room with a bunch of tags. Popping tags. Is that true? >> No, I got a baby. >> Okay. Well, come over here so we can figure it out. >> Huh? >> Come over here so we can figure it out. Where you going to? Nowhere. >> All right, listen. >> The woman had no intention of stopping to cooperate with the investigation, clearly showing that she was afraid something would be discovered. Moments later, she suddenly fled, only reinforcing that suspicion even further. >> Don't do that. >> No, >> Austin, don't do it. Don't do it. 97 65 to 20 out of Florida India Hotel 1 5 Golf Pop. >> Hey, stop the car. >> No, for real. Go. >> Stop the car. Just hang on. >> No, cuz I'm not about to be in trouble for something. >> Okay. >> They said that they're witnessing you popping tags. >> Let's just figure it out. >> Well, I wasn't. >> Okay, that's fine. We'll figure it out. Pull up here for a minute, Austin. >> What happened? We're trying to get to the bottom of it. Loss Prevention's got her in there popping tags off of items. >> Wait, I hear him. My twins in there, too. >> That vehicle up here at Walmart. >> Okay, you got a twin? >> Yes, actually. >> Okay, that's fine. >> She even came out yet. >> Okay, that's fine. Did she ride up here with you? >> No. >> All right, Austin, pull it up here real quick just so we can figure it out. >> Why do I have to pull it up? >> Listen, dude. It's fine. If you if she ain't done nothing, we're going to get to the bottom of it. >> After stubbornly using her vehicle as a shield to protect herself, she began fabricating a story, claiming that the real suspect was not her, but another member of her family. >> What is it? >> My twin sister Nick like he kept on saying like me and her him had something to do with it and I got out of there because my sister was in there doing >> breathing so heavy. Where's your sister at? She was left her ass. >> Who's your sister? >> But she look just like me, dog. I mean, he like he didn't even go look to go see. >> Well, he had some. >> Deputies confirmed that she did in fact have a twin sister inside the store. However, that did nothing to change the direction of the investigation as her earlier attempt to flee was clearly suspicious. As a result, deputies decided to detain her at that point. >> Okay. >> Get out. I'll call you back. >> What do you What's the hang up? >> I don't know. Y'all all three big. Come on. >> Okay. Oh [ __ ] My pants got a hole in them. >> Oh man. >> Hey, hold on. >> There you go. Oh [ __ ] >> I was just putting it down for you. Damn. Yeah. Yeah. The car thing. >> Can you sound things burning burn on my arm? >> Good. I love it. My ass hanging out. I got a hole in my pants. >> She got the Browning tattoo on her right inside it too. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Immediately after handcuffing the suspects, deputies searched their bags and found merchandise that directly contradicted the woman's repeated denial of the shoplifting allegations. More jewelry stuffing. Hey, she also made me Are you serious? >> Yeah. >> Damn. >> Right there. >> I literally think I know. He said nothing. >> That's a giant torch lighter. Oh [ __ ] The torch lighter stuck out first. Anybody got a test? >> Yeah. Actually, >> that might even be real. >> It might be horse. >> I've come across it. If that's real, man. >> That's a clean ass. It might be >> all different shape. >> Hey, bro. Go ahead and tell that scale. >> It could be. >> Don't Don't Yeah, hold on. >> That's some cleaning. See, I wanted to be super concerned right now with a search. >> Oh, dude. He was definitely super concerned. >> That's why he just wants to get out. Yeah, he gassed up and was trying to leave whenever I pulled in. a scale. >> At this point, the case had escalated far beyond a simple shoplifting investigation and into a drugrelated offense. Yet, she seemed completely unfased by the seriousness of the situation, remaining cheerful and carefree as everything unfolded. >> I ain't find your [ __ ] >> Okay. >> Yell back on. I got holes in my pants and [ __ ] >> Hold on. No, you ain't getting in my car like that. We uh we putting them back in the bag. >> What? >> You ain't getting my bag. >> I don't know. WHY YOU? >> YEAH, cuz I just grabbed my my sister's diaper bag. >> Oh, yeah. That's mine. >> That That ain't a >> And it's mine. >> All right. Put your hands behind. >> Yes. That's just mine. >> No. Hell no. Who are you? >> Who are you? >> All right. You have a seat back. >> How do you know me? >> Have a seat back in the car. >> All right. You You're about to not get that cigarette. You don't want to get back in my car. >> Please let me get cigarette too. Oh, the whole reason I did that is to put my shoe back on. Oh, >> he left that part. It's all right, man. We'll put them back on in the jail. You going to have to take them off anyways. >> All right. Hey, >> watch out. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft, trafficking, and methamphetamine, resisting an officer without violence, and providing false identification during a law enforcement investigation. A lie may complicate an investigation, but fleeing, resisting, and carrying far more serious evidence can transform a minor theft into a life-changing criminal case. Next, this foolish woman told a series of lies that were painfully obvious. >> She ain't got nothing to do with this. >> Okay. So, my job is to figure it out. Okay. >> And I don't got I didn't steal anything. >> My job You went to Michael Kors, you went to Lacrosse, and you went to Prada. On the 16th of April 2026, police received a call from a shopping center reporting that a woman suspected of shoplifting had been spotted on the property. Officers responded to the parking lot shortly afterward to stop her from fleeing along with anyone who might have been involved. >> How you doing, M? Turn off your vehicle. >> Step out the car, please. >> Me? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Right now, you're going to be detained. [music] Okay. >> Me? >> Yo, step out of the vehicle. Okay. >> Okay. >> Wow. Put your hands behind the back. >> Put your hands in the back. >> What the [ __ ] is going on? >> Any weapons on you, man? >> Coal. Okay. >> Like this is crazy. >> Okay. Set about the big [ __ ] Except the vehicle, >> what is they talking about? Just >> turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> For what? >> You're right. Now you're going to be detained. Okay. >> Other hand. >> 23 27 2371. >> Oh, you said you was going in to buy something for your mama. We were tripping. >> Don't even come close. >> The female driver appeared confused and even confronted the passenger about what had happened. She seemed genuinely unaware of the theft, but quickly realized what was going on. The woman in black also repeatedly insisted that the driver had nothing to do with the crime. >> She ain't got nothing to do with this. >> Okay. So, my job is to figure it out. Okay. >> And I don't got I did not steal anything. >> My job is to figure it out. If if you didn't steal nothing, you'll be on your way. If you did steal something, I will decide if you're gonna go to jail or get a court date. Okay. All right. So, your attitude is also gonna uh have an influence on that, too. >> I'm sorry, sir. So, I'm going to get locked up either way. >> No. Right now, you are detained for theft. I didn't say you're under arrest. Okay. You're detained in handcuffs. You're going to sit back here while I do my job. Okay. >> While the suspect denied [music] stealing anything, the store manager arrived on scene with a very different account of what had happened. >> All right. So, you reported this, correct? >> Yeah, I'm the manager over there. I was right outside on break and she beeped going out. I was getting ready to go back. This lady right here is she having the car? >> Okay. Oh, so you already saw >> Oh, I saw what happened. Yeah. I was getting ready to walk back in. I was getting up. I was sitting on the couches and she beeped and she had a whole like we don't let anybody leave with just bags in their hand. She didn't have a shopping bag or anything. So, it was just it I went in there and I said, "Did she purchase all those bags?" She had her hand. The other manager said, "No." So, then that's when I called it in. >> Okay. Do you know about how much merchandise you stole? >> What I saw was about four or five of our cross bodies >> and about the average price of each. >> Um, so about maybe $400 a piece >> retail. Retail. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Um, okay. Let me uh >> she took something else. I don't know. >> Okay. Let me speak to her first and then uh so right now it's going to be treated as a theft investigation. I got to talk to her, see what she's willing to, you know, say, and then uh if we can get the property back with just her saying it, then we'll go from there. >> Meanwhile, another officer explained the situation to the driver and confirmed that she was not involved in the theft. >> Maybe you need to start hanging around certain people. >> Yeah, cuz I don't even play this. You understand me? >> Cuz this this I mean, >> this ain't it. >> Yeah. >> I'm hiding the piss about this. You ain't got to work, son. That's crazy, bro. >> You see how fast stuff happened? >> And she told me she was going there to buy something up again, >> please. >> She come out running, ducking low. I said, what the going on? >> Who running and ducking low? >> Yeah. So, I'm like, what the going on? And you see, you know, I ain't no one thing about you know running out, you going to be gone, ready to go. I didn't move my car cuz I don't play that. >> Okay. >> I'm heading over there right now. >> Back with the suspect, she made little effort to defend herself or prove her innocence. Instead, she remained defiant throughout the questioning, acting as though she was entitled to respect despite being the prime suspect in a theft investigation. >> Do you have your uh ID on you? >> No, but I did not steal anything. So, >> okay. Do you have your ID on you? You don't. >> What's your first name? >> Jasmine. >> You don't have any ID in the car either? >> No, sir. >> J A >> I S M I N E. >> J A I S >> M I N E. >> Middle name >> E. >> Last name >> Johnson. >> Date of birth >> July 1st, 1992. And uh you live in Florida. >> Do I live in Florida? Yes, I do. But I don't live out here. >> Okay. Do you have a Florida ID or Florida driver's license? >> No. >> No. Okay. And it's July 1st, 1992, >> Mr. Ramirez. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I did not say anything. And I feel like y'all are being too rough with me. >> Listen, I'm I'm not rough with you. Okay. You're in handcuffs for a reason. All right. Honesty goes a long way. I'm going to read you something. I'm going to talk to you. Honesty do go a long way. Can I be honest with you? >> She did not have anything to do with what whatever I got going on. She did not have anything to do with it. >> Okay. >> Her story quickly fell apart. While denying the theft, [music] she repeatedly insisted that her friend had nothing to do with the incident. It seems she was trying to mislead the officers, but the strategy failed when she later admitted to stealing the merchandise herself. >> 23. Who's advising? It's July 1st, >> 1992. Middle name is uh Elizabeth. >> Can I give you what I had took? >> Can you give me what you've took? >> Yes. >> Again? Yes. Honesty goes a long way. >> Yes, sir. Can I give you what I took? >> Okay. So, you did commit a theft. Okay. What did you take? >> You took a dress. >> A dress. Okay. So they were watching you. This the manager out here. They would like for you to return the stuff, but they said more than just a dress. Some cross body bags. Yes. >> Oh. >> Okay. Where where are they at in the car? >> Am I going to be arrested? >> No. >> I'm They in the back seat. >> Okay. What all did you take? >> Purse, some purses. >> I need I need everything because I got to go retrieve the property and give it back to them. >> Purses and dresses. >> Okay. It's It's all Where? On the floor. In the seat. >> In the back seat. >> In the back seat. Is it in the bag? Okay. Sit tight one second, miss. With the driver's cooperation, officers located the stolen designer bags on the back seat of her vehicle and recovered them shortly afterward. >> And there's a couple more. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. Kiss my boy. They getting the stuff back. I just need a little >> She gone. >> 26. >> She gone, right? >> Wait, did you get everything already? >> That's fine. >> Joe, can we uh >> You want a record of everything? >> Can we go by this store and check, too? would have had time to put none up under here because soon as she ran, she went to lay down. Look, I got it up. >> Who is she to you? >> No, nobody. She just asked me for a ride to go get her for her mama. I brought my 5 seconds ago. I'm going to Guardi Beach. [laughter] uh the >> officers found a large amount of merchandise believed to have been stolen from multiple stores. Yet, she continued playing dumb about it. Her responses eventually prompted the officers to bluntly tell her what they believed had happened. >> This is your You've been wanting to talk to me all this time. I understand you. You told me you took the bags. You said she's not a part of it. What What else do you want to tell me? >> I want to know if my nail I'm I'm sorry. >> Okay. I'm a sorry ass person. >> Okay. So, she brought you here. Was she with you? What happened? >> She drive. I don't walk. >> Okay. So, she came here, parked, you got out. >> Yeah. I told her I wanted to get something for my sister. >> For your sister. So, you went She stood in the car, you went there, and that's when you you went to Michael Kors, you went to Lacrosse, and you went to Prada. Pardon? >> Yeah, >> no problem. >> No, the little perfumes. >> I did not go for >> you. The perfume store. The outlet perfume store. >> Okay. Is there anything else in that car? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Is the cell phone yours? >> No. >> No. >> No, sir. >> You don't have any other property in that car? >> No, sir. Although she continued trying to lie until the very end, the truth eventually caught up with her. In the end, she was charged with three counts of petty theft and one count of fraud by impersonation. Lies may delay accountability for a moment, but the truth eventually catches up, and every attempt to deceive only makes the consequences worse. Next, let's take a break from shoplifting cases and switch things up with this car theft case. >> Please, >> GET ON THE [screaming] GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. GET ON THE FLOOR. >> OKAY. >> On the 27th of April, 2026, police received a report from a man that his personal vehicle had been stolen. After confirming the license plate and ownership, officers quickly located the vehicle. The moment they confronted it, the situation immediately became tense. >> Turn off the car. >> Turn off the car. >> All right. Can you please >> get out the car? >> All right. I didn't. >> In fact, the woman was identified as someone the victim knew. When she realized police were after her, she deliberately tried to speed away, leading to the situation she now found herself in. Yet, after everything that had happened, her biggest concern was getting her belongings back. >> My phone is in the car. Can you please give me my phone? >> No. >> 1018. >> All right. What you left in the car? >> My phone. >> It has a purple case. >> Purple [snorts] case. Just your phone, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I think. >> Okay. We got to check this. >> Do we want to count him for anybody else out there? >> The officer then spoke with the victim and confirmed once again that the suspect was someone he knew, though they were not personally acquainted. >> Do you know who this person is? >> I said I went to high school with her. >> So, do you know this person? Is she a friend? An acquaintance? >> No. No, I'm not. I don't know her at all. >> You don't know her? >> I went to high school. So, you lost your keys when >> I went to Family Dollar. >> Which Family Dollar? >> EC. What I'm saying is >> hold on real quick. You got Give me one second cuz you're overwhelmed me with all this information. What time was this? Sorry. >> This was yesterday around I would say what time I call my friend. Stupid girl. >> Right. >> This is around 6:00. >> 6:00 p.m. >> 6:15 p.m. >> 6:15 p.m. So you lost your keys at that time. >> Yes, sir. >> Right. They really tried to start the car at 12:31. >> Okay, that's fine. 12:31. >> Yes. >> The vehicle was found to have been damaged during the suspect's attempt to flee, making the victim even more furious. He made it clear that he intended to press charges to the fullest extent possible. >> Like, they might have a tracker on here cuz I wonder how she knew it was in my building. They might have a tracker in my car. All right. So, you can check that out if you find something you think. >> No way. She's been out in my building. It's all right though. She going to jail. I'm happy. >> Okay. All right. >> Um, >> and I'm pressing charges everything full extent. I want full in jail for a long time. >> You could go to full 41 grant. No, full on grand pick up the report and you could press charges on her for the for damages in your car as well. Okay. >> All right. >> I'm going to give him a vine just cuz uh >> you give him the power causes one. >> Yes. All right. Yeah. I'm saying you're ready to give him a vi might as well. Hold on. He's He's gonna give you a second real quick. >> Well, you should stop the car. You got information? >> From the way the suspect spoke, she still tried to portray herself as the victim in an apparent attempt to avoid the investigation. Even after arriving at the police station, she continued to play dumb, pretending to be confused by everything that was happening. >> All right, Danger. So, I'm sending this right now. I'm going to ask I'm going to ask you the questions. One more time. >> Let's get them all the information. She's cool. Let's bring all the information. >> All right. Okay. D. >> Spell it. >> D E G. >> The suspect was arrested for eluding an officer, vehicle theft, driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, and obstructing justice. This case showed that stealing a vehicle only turned a simple crime into a far more serious [music] one, bringing consequences that were impossible to escape. Next, the woman risked her future over nothing more than a few Christmas presents. >> I picture anybody back >> lost my job and I don't I don't know. I'm trying to get Christmas presents. >> On the 17th of December 2025, police responded to a reported shoplifting incident at Walmart. A woman was accused of concealing multiple unpaid items in her bag, unaware that her actions were being monitored through the store's surveillance cameras. >> Uh, she's heading out to, I think, grocery side right now. >> She shoplift. >> Yeah, she's concealing. She's already >> What? She's concealing. >> Uh, hey Derek. Uh, where's she at right now? Uh, we got PD here in women's apparel. Yeah, she's right there. >> Okay, he's going to stop her, but I don't know if she'll comply if she's already heading out to grocery the flannel. >> As soon as the woman attempted to leave the store, the police quickly caught up with her and stopped her back real quick. Cool. You're being detained suspicion. Okay. >> All right. Go with me. >> Look. >> What's your name, man? My >> name is Robin. Okay, man. >> So, like I told you, okay, you're being detained uh under suspicion of shoplifting. Okay. Um, give me a second. I'm going to read you your rights. I'm going to ask you a few questions. Okay. >> Okay. >> Are you okay physically? >> Um, >> do you need medical attention for anything? >> No, no. I just wanted to kind of get my hair out of my face, but >> to help you out a little bit. >> The other side. >> It was clear that the woman could no longer deny what she had done. After reading her Miranda rights, the officer gave her an opportunity to admit everything. >> With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me? Like I said, and if I ask you a question, you don't want to answer it, you don't have to. Okay. So, Robin, what did you take from the store? >> Um, I So embarrassing. Um, I took some like toys. >> Some toys >> and uh like a hair straightener and some like Hello Kitty makeup. >> Okay. >> Um, >> where was all where are those items at right now? >> Um, >> are they in your bag? >> Yes, sir. >> Can I grab them from your bag? >> Sure, of course. >> Okay. Is >> Is this yours? Okay. >> So, Robin, can I ask you a question? >> Is everything in here? >> Yes. Well, I I have my wallet and >> Okay. Is it the bag is yours though, right? >> Yes. >> Yeah, the bag is >> Okay. So, there's You tell me if something's >> Those are those. Okay. Obviously, the bra too, right? >> Yeah. >> The receipt. Hair straightener. You said it was too, right? >> Yes. A bunch of these little items where >> Yeah, it's ours. >> Yeah, those are >> this. Yeah. >> Okay. All the panties, too. >> Okay. So, a bunch of cosmetic stuff. Yeah. The nail polish and everything, too. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Just the lighter is yours, though, right? >> Oh, yes. >> In fact, the woman could have paid for all of the merchandise she stole because she had money with her. An EBT card was also found inside her wallet. There's >> some cash in here. Take it. Okay. Just a EVT card. That's not even for you. >> Print two receipts so he can have one. >> Yeah, it's my um my aunt. >> Oh, your aunt. >> Yes. >> Okay. I'm not going to get a call about you a stolen uh EBT card for that name, right? >> No, sir. >> Okay. So, just the lighter in this wallet is yours in here. >> Um I don't know. I was going to pay for some of it. Um I don't really have a um good excuse because it's you know, >> actually you have money in your purse. So, just for the thrill of it or is there a reason behind it? >> I just um I kind of lost my job and I don't I don't know. I'm trying to get Christmas [clears throat] presents and >> Uhhuh. >> Okay. I'm >> sorry guys. >> You have Don't take offense to this. Okay. You have an addiction problem? >> Um cigarettes, I guess. >> Just cigarettes. No narcotics. Um, no. I um I used to be a um addict, but I am a naughty one. Under New Mexico law, merchandise valued between $250 and $500 is classified as a misdemeanor. [music] With the total value of the item she stole, the officer quickly determined the charge she would face. >> Okay. Well, the total value is $324. Okay. >> Oh my gosh. Really? >> Yeah. It's inflation for you these days. How how much am I over? >> Like almost $100. >> Oh man. >> So >> there's no I'm from out of town. Like I live in Silver City. >> Silver City. >> And >> Okay. >> We just came down to shop. Like they they were not stealing. Is there any way I can not go to jail, sir? Please. >> No. Miss. Okay. This is like I said, okay, if under that threshold, >> close the door a little bit. Sorry. Embarrassing. >> So that's like I said, so you you're going to be charged with the full misdemeanor of shoplifting. Okay. Um, you'll see a judge in the morning and you'll be out tomorrow. >> Okay. Uh, you just work on video of everything items. I'll send uh I'll send you a link. Um, okay. >> Yeah, we appreciate it. >> Put all my bags, >> Grandma. Appreciate you guys. >> In the end, the woman was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting. Financial hardship is never a legal justification for theft. Once the value of stolen merchandise exceeds the legal threshold, a person can face criminal charges, arrest, and a court appearance, making a moment of poor judgment carry long-term consequences. Next, [music] this woman wasn't accused of shoplifting, but she still ended up creating a dangerous situation at Walmart. >> Yeah. And I was crying because I got paid $600 a week. >> I am not going to let you drive in the stadium. >> I don't have no one to drive me. >> Oh my god. >> On the 29th of August, 2025, [music] officers were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot after receiving reports of a woman displaying unusual behavior that made people believe she was intoxicated. [music] Here's what happened when officers approached her. >> Hello. How you doing, man? How are you doing? >> Good. >> Good. I'm Officer Dwis with the Grove City Police Department. Uh we got a call about you. Sounds like you were uh stumbling around inside the store. So, we just wanted to check on you and make sure you were okay to drive. Said you're tired. >> Yeah. I'm not drunk or anything. Like I'm drained. I just moved into my apartment and I've been up cleaning and >> organizing. Gotcha. So, you just been up for a long time then? >> Yeah. And I was crying because I got paid $600 in rent four kids and it's really stress. >> Gotcha. Yeah, they said they saw you go into the um >> the mother and cuz that's where I vent. >> What's uh what's the deal with the can here? >> My uh right here my thing. >> So, I fixed it. >> Okay. How about you just set that down there on the trunk for me? You got an ID on you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Is it on you? >> No. You can go get it. >> Why are you're like stumbling around and stuff? I want to make sure that you're okay cuz you seem like you're >> I have vertigo. >> Okay. Okay. And so when I'm really stressed and really drained, it irritates. But I've been up all day since >> Okay. Um well, tell tell me what when these other officers show up, we'll go get your your ID cuz right now can >> Yeah, if you want to sit down, it's fine. >> Yeah. >> Officers confirmed that besides her, two family members were also inside the vehicle. However, it appeared that she had just been spraying something onto the car, raising concerns among the officers about their safety and possible exposure. >> What's the deal with the inhalent? >> The what? >> The inhalent. The spray bottle that you were holding when I walked up. >> I said I'm fixing my my Watch. >> What are you serious? >> Well, cuz you say you're fixing something. There's no indicator of spray or nothing. And I seen you holding the spray can and you're stumbling around. >> No, I'm not helling it. My daughter just I I actually opened the door. >> Okay. Where is your ID at? >> In my purse. >> Do you mind if I go grab that? >> Go get my purse for me right now. >> This is crazy. >> Thank you. Appreciate it. >> This one right here. Mind if I grab it out? >> Yeah. >> But okay, we lived in our car for like a couple weeks cuz I was waiting for my second to come for my unit. And so when the truck was open, my my cloth in my car kept on waving >> cloth >> like the the >> which cloth the roof stuff like this. >> It was clear that although she was not intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, her condition was not [music] safe for driving. At that point, the officers tried to persuade her to take a field sobriety test. >> Where we're at with this right now is we're just going to give you the opportunity to do a few field field sobriety test just to make sure that you're okay to drive. Obviously, you're about to enter the car with your two children. >> I can't walk the straight line for nothing. >> Okay. Well, there's walk you through everything that we need to do. You either do need or >> so right now. >> You just kind of Like every like it's hereditary. My cousin in Lex, Kentucky has it >> and when she like when she first wakes up, she got pills for it, >> but mine's only act up when I'm really stressed and I'm under a lot of stress. I just moved in yesterday. >> I'm trying to organize my house. I bought curtains and I bought rods. >> Okay. So, they saw that you had gone into the >> the mother's room, >> right? Did you go in with your children or No, >> no. >> Okay. So you just left them outside the door then or >> No, they would stand right there. >> Were they inside the room with you? >> No, they would stand by the door. >> Okay. What were you doing inside the room there? >> I was praying and crying. I swear. >> Okay. >> And then I let you Where did my phone? >> Well, your phone's in here first, but just hang out here. We're going to I'm going to run you through some tests just to make sure that you're fine to go drive off with your two kids. Obviously, I don't want them to get hurt. >> So, that's my concern. Um, >> so I'm going to explain a few things to you. Are you fine if um we close the door and your kids stay here and I'll just walk you to the front of this cruiser? Is that okay with you? >> Yeah. >> I can have this officer stay and make sure that >> we just don't want them to run out. >> Meanwhile, one officer went to the store's loss prevention office to gather more information from the staff and review what the surveillance cameras had recorded. >> Spray adhesive. She's trying to fix her roof liner. >> Um you guys have video of her. So I can watch like see what the hell she's doing. She said her whole thing with going in the mother's room is venting cuz they're living out their car. So she goes in there and like vents. But we're going to put her through field test. >> She left her little girls alone for 15 minutes outside. Like I don't know what >> they were like knocking on the door say mommy I love you. Mommy I love you. >> Okay. >> It was just weird. >> Um so what I'll have you do is just take your hands and put them up on your chin like this. >> Are you able to see the tip of my finger? >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, what I need you to do is just with your eyes and your eyes only follow my finger. Does that make sense? >> Do you have any questions about that? >> Okay. >> All right. You still doing all right? Still good to continue. >> Yeah. >> Okay. It's going to be a little bit longer this time. Just keep your hands up here on your chin for me. All right. >> When she's walking with the cart, she's fine. But like she's walking like her feet like she's walking like Godzilla. Honestly, it was super weird. >> Well, she says she has vertigo. >> You know, people lie though. So, >> I don't know. It might be nothing. It was just We were worried because of kids. We debated calling for like 20 minutes. >> So, you said she left them alone for 15 minutes. They were wandering around. >> Oh, that's it, too. the whole time she was in the mother's room. >> Okay. Um, do you have anything that's physically wrong with you that I know you said you'd have some sort of issue walking in a straight line. Is that right? >> Uh, what? >> At this point, her apparent impairment was difficult to deny. The officer then informed her of what she needed to prepare herself for next. >> What I'm about to tell you might make your day a little bit better. Okay. Stop. >> All right. I'm so tired. >> I have not seen you driving your car in the state that you are in. There is no video from Walmart that shows you inside of your vehicle in the state that you're in. Meaning, I'm not arresting you for OBI or operating motor vehicle under the influence. Nor am I arresting you for physical control cuz you're not doing that. My concern right now is that you have two small children with you. >> I'm going to drive slow. >> No, no. I I am not going to let you drive and stay with me. >> I don't have no one to jab me. >> Oh my god. Let me see. >> Sit down. Okay. So, can you understand that from my point of view? >> Can I get a birth test or something? >> Say it one more time. >> I breathize the test. I don't drink. >> I understand. >> I drink and that the adhesive wasn't even like that. I just opened it. >> Okay. >> I just opened it to spray my my ceiling cuz I'm >> I can't afford them to strip my whole ceiling. >> Right. So, based off of what I'm seeing, I believe you are impaired by something. I don't know if you're impaired by alcohol, but I am I will not let you drive today. And >> but why do you think I'm under influence? Because I can't walk in a straight line. [music] >> Not because you can't walk in a straight line. Again, I didn't see you walk in a straight line cuz you said that you didn't want to based off of what I'm hearing from your slurry and slow speech. You're unsteady on your feet. Your eye is >> unsteady. >> When I looked at your eyes, you you have showed several indicators of impairment within your eyes. Usually that's >> stress like you not understand. Stress isn't something that's going to cause that. >> I promise it does, honey. I haven't had anything. >> I've gone through >> to drink. >> In the end, the officer informed the woman that she would not be arrested that day, but would receive a citation for endangering the life of a child. She was issued a court date, and a family friend later arrived to drive her and her two children home safely. Never drive when you're not in a safe condition because [music] even without an arrest, your actions can still put your children at risk and lead to serious legal consequences. Next, this woman became so consumed by her own lies. >> What's your real name? What's Just be Just be straight up. >> I'm looking at you right now. What's your real name? I >> forgot that. That must have fell in my bag. Those two were on top of my cart. They must have fell in. I promise. >> Where's the card? >> On the 25th of October, 2025, officers responded to a call from a Michael store reporting that a woman with an outstanding warrant for theft had been spotted inside. As soon as officers approached her, she immediately resorted to the familiar lies she had used before. Hey, sir. >> What's your name? Um, Stephanie and a burglar alarm at Starbucks. We're >> just looking for somebody. I didn't know if maybe you saw or anything like that. >> No. Okay. Do you have an ID on you? I was just saying I made contact with you. >> Oh, no. I didn't I don't have an ID on me. I have a picture of my ID on my phone. >> That's cool. Can I see it? >> Um, my phone is in the actual in the vehicle. >> What car is it? >> My It's my boyfriend's car and I don't know if I have that exact um actual phone that has a picture in it, but you more than welcome to look. >> Cool. Can you put Could you put the uh first down track? >> Yeah, that's fine. There's nothing in here, sir. >> All right. Put Put that bag down, too. >> Okay. There's nothing in there. >> Okay. Okay. You don't have any weapons on you? >> Sure. I don't I don't have anything on me, and I didn't take anything out of the store, Stephan. >> Okay. As long as everything checks out, you won't be in trouble. Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah, that's >> Yeah, that's what I thought, too. What's your real name? >> What's your name? >> Just be Just be straight up. >> I'm looking at [ __ ] right now. What's your real name? In fact, the name she hastily provided was a fake one, and her earlier attempts to avoid providing identification only made that even more obvious. To prevent any chance of her fleeing, the officers decided it was time to take action. >> Okay, turn around. >> Don't put me in hand. I didn't steal anything. But I didn't steal anything. But I didn't take anything, sir. >> But you came here in that in that Nissan, right? >> No, I didn't, sir. I didn't take anything. >> But look at my bag, sir. Stop >> about what happened today. cuz you got a warrant. >> Oh, I don't but I don't. Sir, that's been took care of I went to court for that already. >> Yes, go. >> But I didn't intend anything. >> But look how you started off though. You started off lying, right? >> Yeah, but I didn't take anything. >> Well, not maybe. >> No, I didn't. But I don't have anything. >> You got other issues. You You stole >> You stolen on You got two cases open on you. >> Why though? >> Cuz you stole before. >> What do you mean, sir? >> You have a stolen place. >> There's nothing in here. >> You have a warrant for your arrest. Not out at us. Okay. >> On where? >> Chicago Heights. >> What do you mean? But I don't have a warrant, sir. >> But I don't. I promise you. >> 2 seconds ago. I just ran. >> I know, but I took care of that this morning. I was in the courthouse this morning. >> Okay, then we'll get that figured out, right? Okay. Good deep breath. >> If you paid attention, she brought up shoplifting before the officers ever mentioned it. That rush to explain herself only made her look more suspicious, and her claim that she hadn't taken anything was quickly exposed as a lie when evidence began to surface. >> Rodeo, right? >> It's not. So, >> where we at? >> Right here, sir. >> Okay. What's going on, man? >> I just I I forgot that. That must have fell in my bag. Those two were on top of my cart. They must have fell in. I promise. >> Where's the cart? >> The cart's over there by the mean stuff. >> I have my stuff in the bag. >> Let's go. We're going to start walking this way. >> Yes, sir. >> But, I promise you, I took care of that warrant this morning. I went to court. >> Is it in the car? >> I don't have my car keys. >> I don't have the file. >> I don't have no car keys. How'd you get here? >> I thought you left it in the car. I took the Uber. >> Don't stop lying. >> I promise you I took the Uber, sir. >> Don't start lying. >> I don't have a car. You can check me. I don't have a car. >> I don't have a car. >> What car? >> I don't have a car, sir. >> What cases do you have open? >> Can you tell me what cases you have open on me, sir? >> I will. Yes, sir. >> All right. Let's all take a breath. Yes, sir. >> There's a lot of ways this can go. Yes, sir. >> Okay. We don't need it to go all crazy where you're you're compounding situations. Okay. Mhm. the key to the Nissan that you always drive. Now, >> I don't listen, let's please don't I've been on the job for a minute, okay? I know you have a probably a habit. That's how you support it. Okay? I know there's a hustle out there. >> Take a breath. You're talking to someone who's worked out my whole life. Okay. >> Mhm. >> We're not trying to make this any worse. It's shoplifting in Cook County. >> Okay. It's not murder, which is pretty much the only thing they enforce here. Okay. So, you might have a bad night, >> but then we get you in front of a judge. you go to court for your cases. >> Her panic denials only showed how determined she was to avoid admitting her wrongdoing. In reality, she knew she could no longer escape the consequences. And the worry was beginning to set in. >> When do I go to court, though? >> Well, tomorrow morning. >> But I got to stay in jail tonight. >> You got to take two breaths and let me see. Maybe we sight notice you. Okay. If this warrant isn't good anymore and there's two retail cases, guess what? It's a sight notice. Welcome to Cook County. Now, >> what do you mean welcome sight notice? I get to go home. If it's if it's just the retail theft reports, okay, that we have. >> What if they didn't put the information in the system? >> Well, then we're going to find out. I'm going to do our due diligence to figure that out. But you need to work with me a little bit. Okay. So, the Nissan that you're driving over there, did you come here by yourself today? >> Um, no. Um, no sir. My friend dropped me off. >> He drops me off. >> The Nissan's right there. I have it blocked in. >> Okay. It's blocked in. I have it. I I don't want to drag it. I don't want your car. Okay. So, what I'm telling you is where's the key fob for the car? >> I don't I promise you I don't have it. your phone inside the car? >> Yeah, that um it should be my phone, but that's my friend's car and he went into a different He doesn't know what I'm doing. >> Okay, he does know your name. >> No, he doesn't. I promise you he doesn't know. >> Mr. Reeves. >> No, sir. >> What's Who's with you? >> Um I I don't know his last name. I know his first name is P. >> Okay. >> But I don't I don't know like I I I've I've circled down the tornado of [ __ ] Okay. I'm going to give you one more opportunity. >> But I promise you I don't have a key, sir. I promise you I don't. Okay. At that point, the officers informed her that the car would be towed, causing her to panic and lose her composure. It was a concern she never seemed to have when she was taking items that belong to someone else. >> NO, BUT I'M TELLING YOU, DOES THE CAR have a dent on the front end? Sir, >> does the car have a dent on the front end? >> Where? >> Can I make a quick phone call? >> Nope. >> You could uh give us the key so we don't have to drag it. >> You don't have to drag it. Make a phone call. That's why I'm trying to make a phone call for you, sir. >> That's why I promise I'm trying to make the phone call because I don't have the key, sir. >> Okay. >> I don't have anything on me. I promise. >> Why do you not want it? We don't want him. We just want you the car. That's all we want. >> Don't take his car, please. It's not his car. Please don't take his car. Get in the car. Please don't take his car. Please. I'm begging you not to take his car cuz he doesn't know what I'm doing here. He thinks No. He thinks that I come up here and I exchange items. That's what he thinks. I promise you. He does not know. Please don't take his car, sir. >> Okay. Get in the car. >> Will you please not take his car? See, see this is the one thing that like the circum like the consequences here. It may be shitty like in your case but right what what I'm telling you is that he doesn't know what I promise he doesn't know what I do. >> Okay. >> He thinks that I come here and I exchange items. He doesn't know. >> Here's the thing. We'll get his car one step at a time. Okay. >> Okay. Well, please don't check his car. >> We still got to go in in the car. We got to make sure that the stolen process from previous things are not in that car. >> From where I go? Where did I go? >> Two open cases. >> All right. Let's go. Let's get in the car. >> Cases, sir. Okay. But I can call him and he can open the car for you. >> Get in the car. >> No, but I'm saying he can call you and I can have him open the car for you, >> sir. I can call him and he can open the car for you. He I can call him. >> Lying to >> I promise you I won't lie. I'm I'm telling you I can call him and he can open the car for you. You can look in there. There's nothing in there, sir. Please, sir. >> Finally, the woman was arrested on an outstanding retail theft warrant and was also charged with felony retail theft. It's easy to ignore the consequences when taking from others. But the moment those same consequences come knocking at your own door, there's nowhere left to run. In the next theft, the trail seemed to vanish completely until the suspect was ultimately exposed by Apple's Find My. >> You go into Find My. Here's my iPod Pro. The C they they didn't steal the earbuds. We found them in the room. >> Where are the rings? >> I have them. All right. Show me the rings. That would be it. And there's two of them. Right. On the 12th of June 2026, officers responded to a Marriott hotel after receiving a report of a theft. Thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and numerous personal belongings had been stolen from a guest room. This was what unfolded when officers arrived at the scene. >> So, who would have been in that room? It's I mean staff like cleaning staff. >> I mean during the day according to them. So, they only called the engineering. So the uh the cleaning staff and the engineering staff came in while they work here. >> Mhm. >> So that should have been happening between 7 and 11. >> Okay. >> And then at that time there's no request for the room. There is no uh reason anyone to go into the room. >> Yeah. But there was cleaning staff and >> before. >> Okay. Is there like a any sort of log of who goes into what room? Okay. Am I am I able to to see that? >> Uh I need to call my chief engineer to bring him here. So because those are electronic locks, so they need to read this lock and then get the information and then that way we can see those information. >> I request you guys to be in the room because I don't want to interfere with the other guests. >> Okay. Well, everything everything's fine. Yeah. >> You're being kind of loud for other guests. >> I'm I'm I'm doing an investigation right now. Everything's fine. >> Yeah. You can tell nobody's in trouble. Yeah. I just want to see at least like a list of people who who came in and out while they were gone. >> Unable to determine exactly who had entered the room, the investigation initially appeared to hit a dead end. However, the case quickly took a promising turn when the victim successfully tracked the signal from their missing AirPods, dramatically accelerating the search for the suspect. >> If it catch the signal, then you can play a sound. >> Yeah. >> My wife always >> if we do get near him, we're going to stay back and let them sound. She put like this thing on. >> No, no, it's She always lose her at home like >> Yeah, someone must have >> must have cut them off or something. >> So, the last one was uh 2 minutes ago. >> So, if anyone connects to that uh earphone, so you will get a notification on that. I Does this happen often or not? Really? >> Uh the thefts happen a good amount down here. Um >> in in in hotel rooms it's a little more rare. Um >> Uhhuh. >> So it could be in the room because over here there's no >> Yeah. Well, let's let's let's pop back up there. >> All right. So I had entry at 2320 >> prior to that. 2157 >> probably that 2150 then then 7 minutes right after that. >> Okay. So they they claimed they left at 6:45 a.m. Let me confirm what they're not saying. >> The investigation once again lost its trail. But by the very next morning, the victims uncovered new leads that reignited the search. >> They That's when they they sold a bunch they stole like t-shirt shorts, but they stole two antique rings that were given to my wife. Her dad's a retired Marine colonel and some a really special ring was stolen. Bottom line, the reason why I called this morning was watch this. I can go into find my Here's my iPod Pro. The the C they they didn't steal the earbuds. We found them in the room. >> But here is >> They stole the case. >> And here it is. And I've been tracking it all. Please take a second. >> Can we go back to the fine m >> for yourself? >> I can tell it's in a car cuz I saw I could tell where it was parked. Is that the parking garage? >> No, that's at the uh >> Or is that the Oh, that's it. Yeah, >> but I just before where it is now. >> That's right in the dead center of the mall. >> There's a Klepto guy that I know. >> But I saw it in a u and there was a a parking lot that it was in just a little bit ago and it was next to like a little island in the parking lot and it you could tell it was a parking space. Well, we could I could tell or I suspect it's in a it's in a car or something. >> How many people have keys to your room? >> Only my wife and I. >> Okay. Do you still have your keys? >> Both keys. >> Both keys. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Something like that. >> I I have a hunch that it's >> quicksaw. Last name's Quicksol. He works one of the booths at Clinton Square Market. [snorts] >> So, so, so it was a guest key that was used. Who has access to make guest keys? >> So, it'll be our front desk. >> That's it. No one else. >> And the man. >> It's through the front desk. >> But it's all done here. >> Yes. It's moving around in Clinton Square right now. So, one of us could >> could stay here. >> You know who? >> And then I know who Quicksaw is. >> And then when I get there, I'll tell you to play the sound. >> Immediately afterward, they recovered some of the stolen belongings through the tracking signal. But the identity of the suspect behind the theft still remained a mystery. >> Hey, so yeah. So, someone pointed out that this was here. So, we just need to see if we can find the owner. same my shoes. >> Oh, um the other call that we were on from last night, let me show you the ring that it's pretty distinct ring that was stolen. >> So, we'll have to check the uh have to check the jewelry shops to see if someone tried to sell it for me. >> Yach club. Yach club hat was stolen, wasn't it? Annapolis yach club. Yeah. >> Well, that might be tied to the case we were just on, Matt. Hey, as the employee, she said she doesn't know who this is. >> Well, that's why I called it out as a 44th found. >> He back. >> Your name is Mitsy. >> Mity. >> Mity. Uh, you work for the property? >> I work for a >> And this uh um someone left all this property behind and you want to turn it into us cuz it's taking up a table. >> Yes, I would. >> All right. All right. Thank you very much. >> I will check it and go from there. I [laughter] got it, baby. I got it. >> This is it. >> 34 to 30. I've located the speaker, AirPods, and sunglasses. Uh, I found a picture of Mr. Foron's ID. It was with the stolen property. Uh, yeah, I think she'll be able to describe them. I got to find her again cuz she left the area. But if we can get cameras, there's camera pointed like right at him. So when I walked in, I saw him in this building and he was scurrying around, but I didn't think he was the suspect at the time. We were pinging the thing and I was walking around trying to see if I could hear the thing ringing. Uh I couldn't, but he got he scrambled around like I saw him pacing and then he grabbed his bike and took off. [clears throat] I think he probably still has the jewelry on him. Later that same afternoon, officers finally tracked down the suspect. He showed no sign of embarrassment as he openly admitted to everything he had done. >> Obviously, there's four of us around here, so you're not under arrest right now, but you're being detained. We have to have a conversation, but I let you know your rights. Yes, sir. You understand those rights? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Here's the reality. >> Yes, sir. >> You and I have known each other a long time, right? >> Yes, sir. >> Here's what I need to know. Get me the rings back. I'll have Officer Johnson, who's with the victim, >> find out if they want to press charges. >> Okay. >> Where are the rings? >> I have them. >> All right. Show me the rings. >> That would be it. And there's two of them, right? >> Yes, sir. >> Anything else that I need to know from the room? >> Not that I know really. Give me one second. >> Oh, I'm just I actually like just a pair of clothes. >> I was going to say those shorts. >> Yeah, the shorts. That's about it. I mean, I I mean I mean it is what it is, but it isn't. I think it is. >> Hang tight. Let me make a phone call to Officer Johnson and we'll go from there. Yeah, he knows. Jackpot this guy's going to be stoked. Hey, I got the rings. Hey, I I read it, Miranda. Um, so you got to check to make sure the guy wants to press charges. Okay. All right. That's I just told him I I told him I would call him and call you and ask. So, okay. So, V So, Vincent, let me ask you about last night. So, the guy drops his key. It's out the envelope with the room and you saw the room number. You're like, is that So, is that So, you left the earbuds over at the Clinton Square because that's what Officer Johnson showed up. You saw you leave in there, right? >> Did you leave? Did you take anything else that we're going to find out later? >> I know. Only I think like a couple of blocks like the not they're not called blocks. They're Yeah, I guess the charging box. The white charging box >> for the earbuds. >> Yes, the earbud case I still have. >> Okay. Where's that at? >> Uh, it's going to be with the stuff that other stuff. >> Yes, with the other stuff. Okay. >> Officers then returned the stolen belongings to the victims. It was a moment of immense relief as they were overjoyed to recover their treasured possessions. >> Yes, sir. >> I'm on I'm on camera. There we go. >> Yes, sir. So, does he recognize that hat, sir? >> 100%. This is my hat. >> 100%. I can Bluetooth it to my my phone instantly. >> Your sunglasses. >> These 100% of the sunglasses. >> Are these your chargers? >> Yes, sir. >> Did you have a pair of blue shorts that were like fancy? Yeah. Well, he was wearing them. I don't think you want those back. >> Yeah. They said all >> Yeah, that's it. That's what dad. >> And there's a matching shirt. >> You have the jewelry. >> And he took my deodorant and he took my razor. >> Oh, >> okay. >> What else do you need? that you >> the rings. >> Oh, the rings. [laughter] >> Start crying. >> I may or may not have the rings as well. >> Right. >> Please describe the rings. >> You give them up. >> You don't need to tell. >> I No, no, no, no. After the water boy. No. Um, [laughter] >> I thought I was gonna get to do that. >> Well, you can't have all the fun. So, no. We had a conversation and uh he had them on him. So, this clearly is a ring that >> you can't like. >> Yeah, the picture says all and then >> Oh, please. >> Yo, the parents. >> There you go. >> All right. So, he's in jail, >> obviously. There you go. >> Um, the man was charged with burglary of a non-residential structure and grand theft of property valued at approximately $8,000. Don't assume an unattended room or a found key gives you permission to take what isn't yours. One impulsive decision can quickly lead to serious felony charges.
