I [state your name]. It's a special day for these recruits and promotions. It's a special day for me because it's the first time I get this grand honor. Present arms. Today we will recognize a newly promoted professional staff member and appoint nine police officers of the United States and the state of Oregon. I’m just so grateful that you chose us. We chose you, but we also know that you chose us. You can come take a picture. All right, there we go, there we go. Oh, that's awesome—put them right there. For those of you that are here, that are families that are sharing this with us, you are now part of the Police Bureau family. We are in this together. Our number one priority is for the success of these officers. We are going to continue to challenge them to be the very best they can be—to represent us and to represent the Police Bureau at the highest level. But know that we are with you. And I will faithfully, honestly, and ethically—every effort you put forward has to be focused on caring for our community and our citizens. And when you do that, when you hold yourself to high standards in every circumstance, we work together. And I promise you my unbending, unwavering support so you can succeed individually. That I will support the Constitution. When you're on the job, you represent all of us. You have a profound impact on every life you touch. You're likely going to see people at their worst, and your ability to be calm, to be empathetic, to be curious, to be humble, to be firm, to be confident, to be safe—are all critical. Appreciate you being here today. Looking forward to this journey together. And most of all, be safe. Community police officer for the Portland Police Bureau. Congratulations.
