My fourth one in a row. I forgot to say scan something on the bottom of my card. >> It's been four times and you ran every time. >> Listen, I'm a nurse and I don't want to lose my job over over this. >> Over stealing. >> I didn't steal. If I did, it was an accident. I didn't steal. >> So, she had the blue buzz balls with her >> and she went to one of our aisles and she only came out with that one. >> Inside the first. Open the first. Why do I have to open my camera? >> Show me the camera. Show them. >> Show them. Okay. Show them. Only silent surveillance footage was enough to completely expose every reckless lie. From cowardly denials [music] to desperate attempts to avoid the truth, everything became undeniable evidence that led them to a bitter outcome. Here are the times when shoplifterss didn't realize Walmart caught everything. Stay up to date with the most compelling police body cam cases by liking this video and subscribing to This is Law. Starting with these suspects, they showed how dishonesty could make everything much worse. >> You got to think about it for a second. Is it Vanessa? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. My last 24, not 24, 26. >> Well, she wasn't born in 96 if she's [music] 26. >> On the 26th of January, 2025, officers responded to a call from Walmart reporting that two women had been caught shoplifting. What seemed like a straightforward case quickly took an unexpected turn. First, here's what happened when officers arrived at the loss prevention office. Right now, we only have on one, but she's dropping the stuff pretty quick. >> Okay. So, I don't know if they have a lookout outside, but it's this female. And then there's another one, but some of her hair. >> Okay. Just her. >> Just this one. >> What she concealed? >> So, she had the blue buzz balls with her. >> Okay. >> And she went to one of our aisles and she only came out with that one. >> She still have it on her person or just in the car? >> It's in this um green bag right here. >> Oh, okay. >> I don't That's the other female. >> That's the other female. We didn't get We didn't get her. But for her, we got that consumed. >> They could have somebody outside watching. >> Huh? >> That's too long. They could have somebody outside watching. >> I feel like they have someone outside cuz once like here in a little bit, they just started dropping stuff. >> They always go to the restaurant. >> Especially after they do it. That's when they go to the restroom. >> She's all like, "No, I swear I was going to pay for this stuff." >> Pretty in my purse. >> Tell me I got >> You think so? She possibly had some in her purse, too. I'm pretty like 90% sure there there's stuff in there. >> Yeah. >> You all trespass. >> Yeah. >> Did she get caught? [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> Oh, she's coming up this way. >> Yeah, she want the one on the trespass. >> Shortly afterward, both suspects walked out of the store, one after the other, right into the officers waiting outside. They were stopped one by one and escorted to the loss prevention office. >> Come over. >> Come inside here real quick. >> Do you have anything on your on your back? >> Yeah. >> That you didn't pay for it? >> I do. >> You do? Okay. What you got? Food. >> Okay. So, put all those items right there. All right. >> So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You understand this question? >> Yes. >> So, you mentioned that you have all those items that you didn't pay for, right? >> Besides Okay. What about you, ma'am? Do you have anything in your person that you didn't pay for? >> Make sure you keep it separate. What's up? >> Uh, they'll be up to Walmart. I mean, it is an irable offense. U, so we'll see. I think being honest, you probably go a long way. So, >> two women committed the same crime, but they would soon face very different consequences. All because of the choices each of them made. It all began when one of them started lying about her identity. >> What's your first name? >> License. >> Vanessa. You got to think about it for a second. Is it Vanessa? >> No. Yeah. Yeah. What's your last name? >> Sanchez. >> First name. Vanessa. Sanchez. What's your last name? Sanchez. Sanchez. I'm just a picture of you. Okay. She's going to be for our system. I want to focus on the scene. Okay. >> Okay. >> Yeah. These two were >> have any ID? >> I don't have anything at all. >> Nothing with your name on it. >> I'm sorry. I don't. >> I have like a bill from somewhere. When I run you out of Texas and New Mexico, you come back clear. No record on file. That means they don't have anything in their system. >> I mean, I've never been arrested. >> Yeah. >> So, five. >> Yeah. I do number resigning. My proud I'm like the sex mother. >> Okay. >> So, it's not Vanessa. >> No. No. Vanessa. >> Vanessa. >> Are you lying to us? >> No. >> So, you just spelled Melissa. >> I know. My bad. >> No, that's weird. >> I'm sorry. >> Look at that. I told you to be straight up honest. Okay. Uh, if you start beating around the bush and doing us false stuff, that's not going to be good for you. Just give us your straight up name and date of birth and we could probably be out of here. >> Or I can take you [music] to Border Patrol. We can fingerprint throw that out or arrest you, take you to jail, and then when they figure you suspicious. >> Most suspicious, right? >> I'm sorry. I'm just getting nervous. Like, >> shouldn't you get nervous about >> I just want to get arrested. In contrast to the other woman's calm and cooperative attitude, she became increasingly nervous, which only raised the officer's suspicions. As the questioning continued, she gave more and more conflicting information. >> Well, I'll be sorry. Just tell us your ding. >> If I find you on a different name, I'm going to be really upset. >> Your social media and you're going to jail. >> Um, I mean, it's been 15 years old. >> What's your Facebook? >> I have full. >> What's your Instagram? What's your name? baby now. >> Melissa. Yeah. >> Have you ever shopped with a woman before? >> But still, is that your right date of birth that you gave us? >> Yes. >> 96. >> Oh my god. >> How old are you? Straight up. >> Okay. Then you weren't born in 96, man. So figure it out. >> Stand up. >> Oh, you guys can see my my thing. >> No. Until you be honest with us, we >> Okay. >> Oh, now you're Please. >> Hold on. >> Stop. Cuz I got ID. >> I'll show you my ID. >> Hold on. Now you have an idea. >> I can probably show if I go into my Google photos >> on your phone. Stop. I got a double or double. >> You guys, please. >> So, how old are you? We're going to find you regardless. Or you go to jail. We'll put you under Jane Doe. And then the court will figure out who you are and you can stay in jail until that happens. I don't care. >> Sorry. What's her name? Her name is Melissa and she's 24. Not 24. 26. >> Well, she wasn't born in 96 if she's 26. It's the year 20 and 25. >> I don't know. >> Hey, listen to what year is it? >> It's 96. >> It is not 1996. What year is it right now? >> 2024. >> Okay. It's not 2024 either. But if you were born in 96, how old would that make you? Matthew. >> She was given countless chances to tell the truth, but she threw every one of them away. Even as she was being escorted outside, she kept pleading with the officers, showing no sign of taking responsibility for what she had done. >> Look, we've been trying to give you a chance and then >> Okay, I'm sorry. Please, please look at me. Like, please, I'll just show you my Instagram. >> Her desperate please no longer sounded believable and only made it clear that she wasn't as panicked as she had claimed. Even her actions moments later showed that she knew exactly what she was doing. >> I really stop. >> Stop. >> Stop. Stop. >> Please stop resisting. >> Just stop. >> Let me just talk to you. [laughter] >> Please stop. Stop. >> Come here. >> Please. I'll show you my idea. I swear. >> Please let me. >> Do you know how worse you're just making this? >> Please let me. I'll show you. >> Do you know how worse you're making this? >> Yes. Please >> stop. >> Now you're going to get another charge for resisting. >> No, you are. No, you are. >> You're going to jail. >> Are we going to sit up like an adult? Are we going to behave like an adult? >> Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. We're going to get an ambulance. Check. Check you out. >> No. You had no force. >> No. >> Okay. >> You want her to search her? >> Yeah. That's cool. >> That's cool. I'll sit you in my car for a minute. You're going to be released with a ticket. She's probably going to jail. >> Uh you just want her to trust her? Uh >> we're just going to be outside for a minute. I'll be right back. >> Sorry. >> All right. Have a seat. Now go help her. >> In the end, Melissa Delphin was charged with shoplifting, concealing identity, and resisting evading or obstructing an officer. Serenity Heart received a citation, a trespass notice, and a court date. Being honest and cooperating with officers can significantly affect how a case unfolds after [music] a minor offense. Lying about your identity and resisting only create additional legal consequences that are often more serious than the original crime. Watch this nurse face the shame of losing her dignity. >> Purely an accident. Listen, I'm a [music] nurse and I don't want to lose my job. >> Can I look up, Evie, real quick? >> No. >> No, you have to. >> No. Yeah, you do. It's for a report. >> That's for a report. >> On the 5th of April, 2024, officers responded to a Walmart after receiving a report that a woman had returned to the store despite having previously been trespassed. Officers and store employees stopped her as she was leaving, and it appeared she had once again come to the store to shoplift. >> Hello. >> No, you can check everything in there. I paid for my stuff. >> You got to come with me so we can check for everything. >> I swear I paid for my stuff. I swear. You want to see my receipt? I promise you I paid for my stuff. >> Well, we we can come back inside and go. >> You didn't scan something. It was by accident, but I promise you I paid for my stuff. >> All the stuff that >> I've got somewhere I have to be like I have to be somewhere like >> Okay. Well, let's get this figured out real quick and then we'll send you on your way. >> I paid for all my stuff. >> If I did, it's cuz I didn't. >> What's your name? >> I said I paid for my >> most of this stuff food and there's quite a few merchandise that way. I saw you putting stuff on top of it. >> If I did, I didn't mean to. It was an accident. I didn't check. >> Oh, yeah. See, like I didn't know that was there under there. >> She had already framed it as an accident if any item had gone unpaid, making it seem as though she already suspected something hadn't been paid for. She even refused to provide her identification. Do >> you have an ID on you? >> Driver's license. >> My card. I just have my card. What's your first name? >> [ __ ] >> I promise you I paid for all my stuff. I'm not information down just yet. I promise you. >> I'm the police. >> You have to identify yourself. Okay. What is your first name? >> Can I call an attorney? >> No. >> No. You have to identify yourself. If you fail to identify yourself, you're going to jail. >> Okay. >> So, she's reached trespass and she's been trespassed. >> Yeah, that was a total freaking accident. >> That was actually midnight shift working a 12-hour midnight shift. This is my fourth one in a row. I forgot to say scan something on the bottom of my car. >> It's been four times and you've ran every time. >> That meant she had allegedly shoplifted from Walmart four times. And every time she claimed it had been an accident. With that history, every excuse she made afterwards seemed meaningless to the store's loss prevention team. >> Every time you ran and caused an issue and >> because that girl that works here has an issue with me and I don't know what it is, but I feel like I >> No, I didn't. >> She has caught you stealing every time you and the second I saw you, I knew 100% you were doing it. And then I caught you doing it. >> How? No, I I pay for everything in this. >> I can already see all those Fs. That's all food. And there's only a few general merchandise items you pay for and none of that. >> I got most of that I got with food. I didn't get >> like I said, you could trespass however many times and still come back. >> Do you have somebody that can stuff? >> I don't. >> Okay. >> I don't >> I really do have to be somewhere though. >> Okay. Well, from the sounds of it, you're probably going to be going to the jail. So, >> why is that? >> U because you've been previously trespassed. Okay. And you're here. Okay. And if you stole items, >> I did not. It was a purely an accident. >> Listen, I'm a nurse >> and I don't want to lose my job over over this. >> Over stealing. >> I didn't steal. If I did, it was an accident. I didn't steal. >> If you've been here multiple times stealing, >> girl, have a seat cuz you're getting really close to me. I don't like that. >> Sorry. I've been here. >> I hope that >> her behavior only made her look like someone worried she had just been caught. Yet moments later, she calmly turned the accusations back on the store, acting as though she was the victim. >> So, you've never been arrested for retail theft? No. >> Have you ever had an encounter with the police here for retail theft? >> No. >> She's usually been locked off. >> No, that lady I don't know what her deal was is with me, but >> she came up pushing me one time >> and I didn't quite care for that. I told her she touched me touch me again. Well, he asked you to stop. I watched it. He asked you to stop and you kept walking out. >> Well, I didn't >> Would you stop at some random man that you know you didn't know? >> What's happened to you? >> Well, whenever he identifies himself, >> he didn't. >> I have a hard time believing that. I feel like he would have announced himself >> 100%. Like that was the first thing I did. >> Hey, I'm so and so with asset protection. I need you to come in here. >> No, he didn't. >> He come need you to come into this office. >> No, he didn't. >> Not once. >> No. >> Same same with Valerie. He started talking to me when I seen you. No, he he didn't. >> Uh, so I'm talking to you before. >> I was on the phone with the police, too. So, >> no, he didn't. He >> It's on a recorded line. So, if I go back and I hear him say, "Hey, >> you can." Yeah. >> Okay. All right. >> I mean, he >> I could do that actually. >> And I didn't hear him. I mean, I really >> see there's that. You know, I didn't hear him. Just like you didn't know you did your eyes. >> He was walking up behind me. I don't really hear that well. So, I had to do a double take to even see. I'm freaking sweating. But if I did, I'm sorry. I mean, you can you can pay here for my car. You can pay for it. >> I think we're past that. >> She showed no shame in begging or denying the allegations, just as she had during her previous incidents. The officer then went over her prior arrests with her. >> Yeah, Jesse had to catch her one time in January. Couldn't catch her. Then she got arrested by by Patter at Walmart. No, it wasn't for that. He said, >> he said, "No, he arrested me cuz he said it was the problem with that." >> However, there's no issue in trespasses for some reason. Um, >> they got a one in their system. So, I'm going have them >> as long as it's signed by a witness. >> We not go by that. >> So, this is this is her first time trying to steal more. >> No, it is. Yes, it is. That lady that works here has some problem. Well, I think I know why, but go there, but I just I'm I'm begging you. I'm really begging you. If you could work with me, just please work with me. >> Well, the fact that this is where I caught you first. I saw you trying to convictions. >> I didn't want to lose him. I don't want him to pull out of my >> She's got stuff. There's no conviction. So, it could still be just the thing on the mouth. >> I didn't want to lose him. That's why I said, >> "Yeah, we have nothing in our system for truss notices." I mean, >> listen, I have a federal job. I've got a nursing license. I mean, if you steal it. No, >> I'm not. You make good money. >> My mom works at the VA. >> Who's your mom? >> Carrie. >> No, >> she works at the VA. She makes good money. >> We get flu vaccinations together. Yeah, she's nice. I like her. She's a good lady. Um, you don't look like her. >> No. >> No. >> I look like my >> You look at your dad. Yeah. Yeah. I think she's talked to me about me before. Really? >> But hey, I know you make good money. I don't >> I know. And I'm I did. It's purely by accident. I Here's my card. I will pay for it. >> Like I said, I'm going to have you step back there cuz you're getting awful close. >> I'm sorry. >> Clearly, she felt no shame in doing everything she could to change the outcome. But that sense of embarrassment suddenly appeared when the officer tried to take her booking photo, making the process unnecessarily difficult. >> No. Am >> I looking up, Evie real quick? >> No. >> No, you have to. >> No. >> Yeah, you do. It's for report. >> It's for our report. You have to, Ashley. You have to. It's for the report. >> Please don't. >> It's for the report, not social media. It's not for social media. It's for our report. >> No. Please don't. >> Please don't. >> Okay. I'll just >> Please. >> I'll get a I will get a picture of you. >> Please don't. >> I will. It's on your body camera. >> It's on body camera. The jail will send me one. >> I'm not trying to be trouble. >> They're You're there. >> I'm sorry. >> Yeah. I guess it's up to you now. But >> are you guys rushing to pursue charges? >> Oh, yeah. >> Okay. In the end, the woman was charged with felony retail theft and criminal trespassing. Repeated excuses may delay accountability, but they cannot erase a pattern of behavior backed [music] by evidence. Once someone repeatedly ignores warnings and continues breaking the law, the consequences become much harder to avoid. Next, this woman even tried to impersonate a police officer to avoid being prosecuted for shoplifting. thus as she was exiting the building, insisting she was a Broward [music] County officer. >> Yourself as a Broward or Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputy as a deputy or a police officer. >> On the 3rd of February 2025, police received a report from a public store about a woman who was acting suspiciously with several bags of merchandise inside the store. As soon as officers arrived at the scene, store [snorts] employees raised their suspicions about her. >> She's leaving. >> Okay. But what happened? She has all kinds of stuff. >> One42 subjects left the area. And then this what she hid on aisle 11 behind the Hallmark rack. And then she tried to walk out with all of these bags of stuff in the bag. >> It seemed like nothing more than a simple shoplifting case. But employees soon gave crucial statements about another concerning aspect of the woman's behavior. >> We got it all back. >> She said she was a Fred County officer. >> Yeah. 26. She left going uh westbound probably north on Hajes. >> I gave it to her. It looked like it was a temporary tag. I I don't remember what I said, but DPR one dog Peter >> 13144 it looked like >> and yeah, she made it right. Mercedes. >> Yeah, but she could be going. >> Okay. There's a couple other units, but that's that neighborhood's kind of like it goes to a dead end and you have to live in that neighborhood or you have to cut through and know how to get out of there. >> On the back, she says she's a Broward County Sheriff's Officer. >> Oh, yeah. >> Well, she first she had a those pink bags right there. >> She had hidden one of those behind the Hallmark rack on aisle 11. >> Okay. >> And then the when we saw her, she was on aisle 9 loading up all of these kind of bags. >> Okay. of of stuff. Then she came through the registers with this and wanted to know why everybody was asking her if she needed help. >> The officer then spoke with the store manager, allowing the full story of the incident to be reconstructed in detail. >> With me today is the store manager. Okay. Explain to me what happened today. >> There was a black female uh loading up grocery carts uh several bags of groceries. When we approached her to ask her if she needed assistance, she cpped an attitude which sent up a red flag for us. We kept our eye on her. She stashed a large bag of HBC items on the HBC aisle. Then she passed all points of sale with a large two large grocery carts full of product. When we asked her to stop and not leave with the product, she started arguing with us. telling us she hasn't even left the store yet and we told her, "Well, you passed all points [music] of sale." So, we're asking you, "Are you intending to purchase these ite?" So, we took the bags from the cart and she exited the store. Then, we called 911. >> And um what was the total amount of groceries take? >> Over $1,300. >> Okay. And did you see this person leave or flee a car or anything? >> She did. She was arguing with us as she was exiting the building, insisting she was a Broward [music] County. >> With the woman already gone, officers used the store surveillance footage to identify the vehicle the suspect had used. >> Yeah, she was in the handicap. >> So hopefully we can get the tag. >> You think the these are the regulars that hit you? >> I've never seen her before. She had so much bling. >> How about of her? Okay, I think >> in the store that way at least we can put that into evidence and that way our detectives when they look at it if she has other cases they can always >> say oh yeah I just had a case you know with the ball and stuff. >> So I'm understand she did not leave the store with the stuff >> she passed all points of sale >> points of sale. >> Is that your guys policy? >> Yes. >> Pass points of sale. >> Yes. Then we can pass. And then she tried to push through me. She had three other bags full of meats and everything and she said she came in with it. I said, "You did not come in with it. You came in with absolutely nothing." She said, "Don't get in my way. Don't get in my way." And my staff took the bags out of the cart. I think she had Tylenols and stuff in her purse, >> but >> I didn't ask to look in her purse. >> That's like Lantana Public stuff, >> but walk out. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. She had a plan. She had the pink bag uh stuffed with all the HTC items hidden behind the hall. That's her right there. Hidden behind the Hallmark rack. You'll see her cuz she's she has on a lot of >> By the 19th of March 2025, a patrol officer spotted a vehicle matching the description on the road with a driver who matched the shoplifting suspect. Officers conducted a traffic stop and this is what happened when they approached her. >> Okay. February 3rd of this year around 9:45 in the morning, you were at a Publix on Lake Worth Road in that Mercedes-Benz and you had an altercation with a female manager um about some groceries. I guess she was following you around the store. You told her to leave you alone and she continued to following you. Do you recall that incident? >> Yeah, but I left the store. I mean, she said that that she something. I don't know when I said, "Okay, whatever." And I left. >> No, I I know you left. I got you on video leaving the store. More importantly is when you made contact with her the first time, did you ever identify yourself as a Broward or Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy? >> As a deputy >> or a police officer >> or a detective? >> No. >> No. Cuz the second time she made contact with you, she was on the phone with the 911 911 operator and she >> she said call she want to call them. I said they're right there outside. >> She was on the phone. >> She was on the phone with the operator. >> They're right there outside. >> And I want what I want to is she when she was on the phone with them, >> she said yeah. and she's identified herself as a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Detective. >> I don't even I didn't even know I was in Palm Beach. >> And then your voice is in the background clarifying that no, it was Broward. And then you provided your identification number. You provided an ID number. >> I don't remember. >> You don't remember doing that? No. >> She played innocent and denied every suspicion directed at her, but it was clear that nothing she said would change the outcome of her actions. The officer then made that clear to her. time. Just let you know, you're being arrested for a Palm Beach County warrant for attempted grand theft. Okay. There was over $1,600 worth of groceries in those cars that you tried to walk out with. >> 1,600. >> Okay. Well, and that's what the calculations came out to. And you're also being charged with um impersonating a police officer cuz we have you on an audio line. >> But I've never found a police officer. >> Well, you did on audio. You said you were No, you corrected her. She said Palm Beach and you said no. Broward. And then you provide an ID number and you said that's who I am. >> And I said that. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I've got I've got more I've got it on audio recording and three witnesses that said the same thing. >> So, yep. I'm sorry for your illness. I'm I'm hoping you get better, but you still, you know, unfortunately, you have to go to >> The woman was charged with attempted grand theft and impersonating a police officer. Actions have consequences, and denying responsibility does not erase the evidence. Being honest and accepting accountability is always a better path than making false claims that only lead to more serious charges. Next, this woman was moving fast to the point that Walmart ended up losing its merchandise. >> I was moving fast. Like I said, I scanned everything. So, if something didn't get scanned, it's only because >> I said, "Do you want charges for the property taken?" And they said, "Yeah, they want to press charges cuz you passed to the last point of sale for it." On the 12th of April, 2026, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description of one linked to a recent Walmart shoplifting incident. Here's what happened next. >> Hey, how are you? Can you roll out the window for me? >> What happened over at Walmart? >> I I don't know. >> What do you mean you don't know? >> Okay. They were calling saying that you guys stole a bunch of groceries. >> I didn't steal nothing. >> Okay. You got an ID on you? Is this your truck? This ain't my stepdaddy name, but it's mine. >> Okay, cool. You got insurance on it? >> Yeah, let me charge my phone up. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Yeah, I didn't steal nothing. That lady went over my stuff at the register. I'm like, I don't have to. You get what I said? I'll pay for all my stuff. >> Okay, that's fine. What all you get? >> Um, just simple groceries and stuff. >> Okay, I got you. Uh, whose car is it? You said >> this? My stepdaddy car. >> What's your stepdaddy's name? Okay. birthday? No. >> About how old is it? >> 55, maybe. >> Okay. You work on that insurance for me. >> I know it right now. >> That's fine. Once it gets turned on, just get it pulled up. >> Okay. >> All right. In a minute. >> While officers were processing the information, the woman repeatedly appeared distracted and anxious about her family, almost as if she was looking for a reason to leave. >> Damn, my phone. I need to call the crisis nursery. That's where my kids at. >> Oh, I got you. You're headed over there? >> Yeah. To get my kids. I mean, I could go back up there, but I was rushing to my kids. Like, I paid for everything. >> Is that like a babysitting thing or >> Yeah. >> Okay, I got you. Just hang tight. >> I was going to say I go right back up to Walmart, but I need to, you know what I'm saying? Get my kid. >> Did they Were they like trying to talk to you at Walmart and like >> He said, >> exactly how it go. walking out and I'm I'm on the phone and he was like, "Oh, I need to check and make sure you scanned everything." I'm like, "I scanned everything." And I kept walking. >> Okay. >> He just walked back in the thing. I'm like, "What do you mean?" Since like I tried to get a receipt to the lady at the door. I The lady was coming to the machine with me. >> Yeah. >> Checking scanning her thing, double-checking the stuff. >> All right. >> The lady at the kiosk. >> All right. All right. Well, we'll get it sorted out. >> Okay. Is there any way you could call them the priceless nursery >> and let them know? What? >> I pull it over like I'm supposed to be coming there. >> Is your phone not working still? >> Yeah. Okay, it's coming on now. >> Yeah. See if you can get it going. Just hang out here. >> She continued to deny any wrongdoing, but by then officers had received new information that prompted them to immediately put their plan into action. >> Oh, yeah. That's what I got. Yeah. All right. You want to just hook her and then I can do your toe sheet and everything like that. >> However you want to do it, man. >> Okay. >> Uh, I'm officer Busfield. I got my body warning camera going. Can I have you turn the car off and step out to speak with me in the back of the truck? Okay. Okay. So, are you Darnisha? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, I need you to turn around, put your hands behind your back. You're going to be under arrest for retail theft from Walmart. Okay. >> But I didn't take nothing. >> Okay. I'll explain some more of this to you here in a second. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Can I make a phone call then to tell them? >> Uh, give give it a sec. I'm going to talk to you to you about the process for for a second and then we can do that. Okay. >> 54. I got one in custody. >> Even after being placed under arrest, the woman showed little sign of concern, as if she had already prepared an excuse, but unsurprisingly, her story failed to convince the officers. >> So, in the morning, >> so I I know that you were at Walmart. I just went and talked to them there. What happened up at Walmart? >> I was moving fast. Like I said, I scanned everything. So, if something didn't get scanned, it's only because I've doubled up and I scan the scan and that's why the lady kept coming over there. So, I don't understand what I took. Okay. So, when I reviewed the surveillance footage, >> you purchased I think there was two packs of ground pork or something. >> Yeah. >> Along with another thing of meat. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So, you packaged both of those. You scanned one. >> So, you then scanned the second one. >> They said that that was what was happening with multiple stuff. Do you have the receipt that you got from Walmart? >> It's in my house, but I scanned that stuff twice. So, I'm just not trying to see how I did it. You get what I'm saying? >> Okay. So, I watched the footage. You scan the the pork and it went right into the bag. You didn't have it there wasn't like two swipes of it and stuff like that. >> And if that happened, it's because I was on the phone and I'm just moving fast cuz it's a lot going on right now. So, I'm just moving fast. My granddaddy in the hospital. I'm trying to get my kids. I'm trying to pick my kids up and get there. So, I'm just on the phone. That's why I'm talking and I'm just moving fast. I got linked. I went initially stole something. >> Okay. Did the when you were leaving the store, did somebody come up and try to talk to you? >> He did, but I'm on the phone and I'm like, man, I scanned everything. I'm trying to get to my granddaddy. I didn't You get what I'm saying? If if if if I come in that store a million times a day, >> literally a million times a day. So, if it if I didn't get something, it's only because I was moving fast and I'm trying to get to my granddaddy. I could come up there and pay for the stuff. It's not like I intentionally just stole. I never have stole nothing in there. I never have had this problem in there. That's why I didn't understand today. But I'm just moving fast trying to get up out of there. >> Okay. >> Shortly afterward, the officers explained the next steps in the process and what she would be facing in the coming hours. >> We do they they do want their uh property that wasn't paid for back, but it's over at the house already. I don't and no one else is there to do it. But so Walmart does want to press charges for the products that weren't paid for. So we're going to take you over to the jail. You're going to be processed and then released probably with a notice to appear on a different court date whenever that is. I'm not sure off the top of my head. And then >> somewhere around there. And then they'll release you with that notice to appear. Okay. >> What about my car? >> So your car is being towed. >> Why though? because it was using the commission of a crime and then there's no one else here to drive. >> I got somebody that could come you know >> the second the the first part is also the reason why cuz they you drove off with it while we were they were trying to stop and talk to >> you the crime was committed. That's what I'm saying like >> Okay. Well, I'll give you a piece of >> Can we call Can you see if they get their stuff back and I pay for it? Can they not press charges? Can you just ask them? We talked to them and before I even finished with that report, I said, "Do you want charges for the property taken?" And they said, "Yeah, they want to press charges because you passed through the last point of sale for it." >> Before being taken away, the woman continued trying to justify her actions. But her tone made [music] it clear that she simply refused to accept that she had been arrested. >> This is crazy. And I didn't even commit a crime. >> That's what I'm saying. Is it any way y'all could call them back one more time? Because I didn't I didn't even know that. It's not like I was throwing I could see if I was throwing the stuff in the bag. I didn't even know it didn't get scared. That's what I'm saying. Like I was just moving fast because my granddaddy on life support. >> I get you. But like I said, they tried to stop you. You didn't you didn't stop to explain the situation. You passed the last point of sale. >> Yeah, because I did everything. I didn't it it >> I did though. >> If they if you did, they wouldn't have called us and I wouldn't have seen on the video that you scanned one pork and put two in a bag. So, what is this like $20 worth of stuff? >> Their estimate was about a hundred, but because you left stuff, they don't know exactly. They're trying to figure that out. >> It was no $100 worth of stuff. >> Okay. Well, need to take a seat. You >> have my phone? >> Yep. I got your phone. Your ID is up there with me. >> And my keys cuz my house keys is on there. >> Okay. I'll go grab those. >> In the end, she was charged with retail theft. This case shows that claiming a mistake after the fact does not erase the consequences of walking away without resolving the issue. Taking a moment to address a problem when it is first raised is often far better than trying to explain it after an arrest. Next, the shoplifting woman even tried to appear completely innocent in front of her own family. >> She got the receipt. What am I going to have? >> They want to talk to you right now. You want to do or you want to save me? So, why would y'all stop me? You didn't say >> he said it was not me. He said the green pants. >> You said what? On the 16th of May 2025, police received a report from Walmart after being notified of a theft that had occurred. The suspect was believed to be a woman who had no intention of paying for the merchandise. To get more details, let's listen to the statement from the store's loss prevention department. >> She's still >> Yes, right here. >> Police are here. >> She has stuff inside the purse. >> Mhm. >> You want to wait to see if she pays for it? Do you want us to wait and see if the lady pays for her stuff or no? >> You have any camera on technically have to wait until she crosses the doors? >> Oh, Dennis is Hi. I'm sorry. I'm Ryan. I'm I'm coming back. I work in this department, but I was looking for Dennis. Not >> he's in your store and looking for a shop right now. >> Oh, okay. How you doing, officer? Good. Thank you. >> All right. >> That's more than 59 items. There's no way they scan everything together. >> It's both of them. >> Both right. >> Can you start looking through some check out to see if it's >> 422 AB? It's going to be two. I'm shoplifting. >> They are leaving. So, >> they're about to um exit the store >> pharmacy. The one >> through the pharmacy. >> Yeah, they're coming to the side. >> Okay. >> Do you want me to make my way out? >> They're about to uh leave through the uh pharmacy entrance. >> Huh? >> Copy. At this point, the officers were waiting outside the store's exit. As soon as the woman noticed them, she turned back inside, prompting the officers to approach her directly. >> Right here. Right here. Right here. Right here. >> But for you, come over here. >> For you. >> Come over there for what? >> We'll explain it to you in a minute. Come over there. Let's go. >> She got the receipt for everything she gave. >> Come on. Is it both of them? >> Both of them. This is crazy. >> What am I talking? What am I going to have? >> They want to talk to you right now. You want to do in public or you want to do >> me. So why would y'all stop me? He didn't say me. >> He said it was my name. He said the green pen. >> You said what? >> You can't tell me that I did anything on camera. >> Listen. Just wait until they finish. Maybe it's nothing. You guys give it. Okay. >> No, I'm going to take my stuff. I got my keys. I don't want to. >> Let me find out this belong to. Let me let me go. Do I have to open my phone a second? >> Yeah, you got your receipt. >> The thing on the car is being paid off. >> We can >> What about this stuff right there? >> You can give us a receipt check. >> Did you everything? >> I'm just getting to the may not have any service. So they have cancer. >> What was their last any contact with? >> We had the female by the pharmacy entrance inside the store. >> Okay, so we need we need some kind of communication. What's going on with her? >> In her panic and fear, the woman immediately blurted out, "I have a receipt." before the officers had even explained why they were approaching her, making her behavior appear even more suspicious. Seeing her reaction, the officers decided to temporarily detain her before the situation could escalate further. >> All right, so we do want complaint action, right? Yep. >> All right, go ahead. Turn around. Hands behind your back. You're under arrest. >> This side is uh it's hers. She brought this with her. >> Okay. >> 724. I'm clear now. You want me to pick that up for you? >> No, I got it. Do >> you have anything in your bra? Nothing at all. I don't want you to. >> I don't got nothing. I'm no bra, no draws, no nothing on there. Fix that way. But I have to take >> about. >> You can't take it off. There's nothing under here. >> Well, it's I'm bald as hell. >> We got We got to check it. We just got to check it. That's so embarrassing that you don't >> At least we're in here doing it. >> Yeah, but like can you put it back on at least? >> Yeah, after a check city. I told you that. >> You want to transport her to one and I get the receipt and stuff? >> Thank you. >> Meanwhile, officers continued reviewing the surveillance footage of the woman's actions, which also confirmed that the other woman was not involved in the theft. >> She was holding it and burning on the purse. you able to burn a copy of of this for me and I'll get it tomorrow maybe. >> Yeah, that's fine. You want me to just leave um the entire file just together for you? >> Yeah, just put it together and just leave it here. I'll come in early in the morning. So, I'll probably come through like 7 8:00. >> I'll get it and bring it to you tomorrow. >> Okay. Um. >> Oh, yeah. >> She was the one that spotted it. >> Okay. What's your name? You You spotted it on camera or in person? All right. >> You You guys never approached them or anything until uh >> at the door. We tried and then when they You guys got to first. >> Okay. At the door. Okay. >> And then we And then we walked up. Okay. Perfect. Got it. All right. Um I give you the extra >> four. What's the case number? 23 263 >> 26 three copy. Thank you. Where's my name? >> You guys want to uh trespass? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> The woman was charged with retail theft shoplifting. Denying wrongdoing does not outweigh clear evidence. Understanding your legal rights is important, but cooperating respectfully and telling the truth is often the best way to avoid making a situation worse. Worse still, this woman even tried to dispose of the evidence in an attempt to outsmart the surveillance cameras. >> That's the lady she was with. So, she grabbed them. Yep, there she go. She put them in her pocket. See, >> there you go. >> You found those. >> Tampering with evidence as well. >> Tampering with evidence. Roger. On the 11th of May 2025, officers were dispatched to a Sunglass Hut store at an airport after receiving a report that a woman had shoplifted from the store and fled the scene. When they arrived, the store employee immediately provided the surveillance footage so they could identify the suspect. >> Okay, >> I'm just going to pull it up. I was waiting on the internet here. >> We're going to watch it together. >> Okay. >> See where it went. It's either her or her. And she really didn't touch much. That's the lady she was with. So, she grabbed them. Yep. There she go. She put them in her pocket. See? >> She just put them in her pocket. >> Yep. We I got it. >> She may still be here. She sticks them in her pocket and calls bot out the door >> cuz I had like four people in here at the same time. And I knew she took something cuz she went way too fast out of my store. >> Yep. How long ago was this? >> It was at >> Georgia. So, she left her like >> Okay, let me see if I can find her. >> All right, thank you. >> I'll come back to take more information if I can't find her. Y >> Okay, we got her on video stealing sunglasses walked out the door. She's over here to my left at Southwest Gate between 2 and 4. [clears throat] You got her on video. >> Yep. It's got the Georgia thing and the air the Air Force ones. >> Yep. One pair of sunglasses. We saw her take it off the shelf and put it in her pocket and leave. Can Can you hang and watch her? I'm going to go back to Sunglasses and let me know we've got her. Okay. >> And to get the video ready. >> His her mom's still with Gucci, too. >> Oh, really? Do you have that on video? >> I can pull it up in a second. >> Okay. Get ready to do that. We found him. >> Okay. Yeah. red. It's red and blue. It's really noticeable. >> Okay. Um, if they return it, >> it is right there in that >> if they just give it back. Do you want to still proceed? >> Prosecute cuz it's over 500. >> Okay. >> Immediately after confirming the woman's location, the officers quickly approached her. But when confronted with the allegation, she was already prepared with a story that denied everything. >> Hi, ma'am. I need to speak with you over here for a minute. You, too, ma'am. >> I need to speak to you over here. >> Okay, you can talk to me right here. >> All right, that's fine. Were you at the sunglass hut earlier? I >> was not. >> Looks just like you. Got you on video. >> You don't have me on video, do you? >> Oh, yeah. We do. Yeah, we do. >> Yes, I do. >> No, you don't. [clears throat] >> She took some Gucci, too. >> You can come and show me on camera where you >> Oh, yeah. Let's do that. Let's do that. >> Let's do that. >> And it's the way this child like the way the officers is killing people and stuff. Approach us in a better manner than you. >> Yeah. >> I I don't know what you mean by that. I I don't get it either, but uh I want to show you the video because your description fits exactly and we have you grabbing some stuff and put them in your pocket. So, let's show you. >> She glasses that I picked up. She told me to put them back and I handed them to her. >> That's fair enough. And then you'll show that dialogue when we do the video. >> Let's go ahead and proceed, please. >> Okay. First of all, >> there's your stuff. Watch because that's the flight that I'm taking. Okay. >> Back. >> Okay. So, >> would you like to bring that stuff with you when we go down there? >> Yeah, I can grab my stuff. >> Yeah. See, that's the thing. You can't leave your stuff by itself. >> It was You can't leave by yourself. Even though someone's watching, it's it's got to be yours. >> Ignoring the officer's repeated instructions, the woman tried to walk away, insisting that she needed to use the restroom. But suspecting she intended to dispose of the stolen merchandise, the officer stayed with her every step of the way. >> And then I was on my way to the restroom to change my tampon. Can I change my tampons? There's a restaurant right now. >> I have blood on my pen. So, I want to change my tampons and then you guys can gladly wait. Yes, there's a restaurant out here. >> No, she took the bathroom now cuz she when she discards it. So, >> I'm sorry. >> I said I'm in I'm not going nowhere. You don't have to be on my >> Well, here's a concern I have. If you have any property that doesn't belong to you at this time, this is a good time to go ahead and discard it. So, let's look at the video first. >> Okay. I'm about to pee and change my tampon. Then we can go. You can wait right here until I >> No, you're under an investigation right now. You're being detained. >> No. And I'm bleeding. >> We have a bathroom downstairs. >> Well, I'm bleeding. >> We have a bathroom downstairs for you. >> I have to make it home to my grandmother. >> I know. We have a bathroom. >> We have a bathroom downstairs. >> I It's private. It won't even be anywhere. >> Okay. Well, go get a woman. Go get a woman cuz you can't tell me I can't pee and I'm bleeding. >> We're giving my bathroom. We're giving you a private bathroom right now. >> There's a private bathroom. >> I don't trust that. Let me use the bathroom where everybody around can. >> Okay. So, so, so first things first, you know what you know why we're stopping, right? >> No, I don't know. But I have you told her I need to pee and then >> I told her that we have >> we can address it. >> She's been alleged and then we have >> Okay. So, can you take that out for me? Whatever that was that was taken from the store. Show it to me before you go inside because I don't know what you're going to be doing in there. >> I'm going to go use the restroom. Hey, so how can I trust you then? >> She made the situation much more difficult by repeatedly trying to avoid the officer's instructions, even though they still accommodated her request. She even drew nearby bystanders into the confrontation, making the situation even more chaotic. >> Me and mama stole something. Mama gone. I'm trying to go change my tongue. They making it a big deal. >> And they I like >> she's been she's been accused of lifting and we have it on video. So, so she wants to go say she used the bathroom. But the problem is is that we can't control everything that she has. So, we're going to bring her into the private bathroom downstairs where she'll be all by herself. We won't even be in there. >> How can you tell me when I can and can't pee? >> Would you like to come with us? >> Peing on the same flight as me. >> Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. For your comfort, >> I got to pee and y'all not I'm about to go pee and y'all can see him right there. >> You're under investigation detention right now. You can't do anything like that right now. You're going to go to a secure >> I can't use the bathroom or when I'm telling you you can use I'm telling you you can use the bathroom and the secure location on my pants >> and it's just right downstairs. >> You cannot just sit here and tell me that I got you're under an investigative detention right now. You are not free to go. You may use the bathroom in our private area and this person who seems to you have trust may escort you, but you're going to go into a private escorted area with your own privacy. So, I am allowing you and giving you the immediate opportunity to use the bathroom. Do you understand that? >> Now, if this is further, I may have to put you in handcuffs. >> Exactly. >> So, would you prefer not being handcuffed or handcuffed? >> Where's mom at? on some [ __ ] I don't got I don't got >> back to the store so she could speak directly with the store employee. >> So, come on in. >> Man, when I picked those glasses up, you may have thought that I put glasses in my pocket, but I had a vape in my hand. >> Well, this got you on camera right here. >> And I got the vape in my hand. You seen me put >> You seen me put something in my pocket, but it was my baby. >> The lady that was with you, she took them, too. >> Well, I don't know what anybody else has going on. She's got it, too. And she conceals them under her shirt. [music] You just put them in your bag. >> I don't have How can I put anything in this bag? >> You want to watch the video? >> Yeah. Let's go ahead and show her cuz she's saying that she couldn't explain it. >> Show me is show me putting it in my bag. >> She says that she the glasses. >> And if it don't show me >> because she's she's discriminating. >> I'm I'm about to sue the out of her cuz I know for a fact I didn't put it in my >> First and foremost, you don't have to use any foul language. We're all civil. >> Where's my phone? So I can call my lawyer. >> I'm not sure. I am not sure where your phone is. >> Oh god. You want some extra loud ass on some racism and I'll never come back here. >> Give get my identity off your phone. That's another >> law. >> Okay. Just go ahead and bring up bring up the video. >> Give me off your phone. You don't have my authorization to have >> in the state of consent. second party to record as >> that's right >> from the camera. You can't record the camera. No, girl. You didn't record the tape. The more we argue, the longer it's going to take. >> No, because she pissing me off cuz she really >> Let her do her thing so we can get you moving. >> The more you talk though, and I'll show you the video. >> No, they said I have rights to be in here. >> Yes, ma'am. They can show it to you though whenever they like if you're talking about that. We're not going to show >> I'd like her escorted out. The officers gave her multiple opportunities to explain herself, but she kept trying to avoid the issue. In the end, none of it changed the outcome, and the officers made their decision. >> Okay, you got to go. Turn around, ma'am. >> Show you guys the video. >> You're under arrest for theft, for shoplifting. Turn around, ma'am. Please. >> So, I'm missing my flight. >> I don't know if I don't know when your flight is, but turn around, please. >> My flight is at 6:40, but you she escort me. >> Okay. I know we don't want to deal with that. >> Okay. No, you're under arrest now for retail fab shop. >> It's a misdemeanor. You'll be >> get you moving right along. >> Right. >> There you go. >> You found those. >> Tampering with evidence as well. >> Tampering with evidence. Roger. Are those it? >> Sir, that's them. And then she'll put it. You see where it goes on the shirt and it bag? >> Yeah, I should. And the it's I've broken in the two videos just because >> the woman was charged with shoplifting and tampering with evidence. Trying to avoid responsibility rarely changes the outcome when the evidence is already there. Every decision made after the initial offense matters, and attempting to hide or destroy evidence can create even more serious legal consequences. Cooperating within your legal rights is often the wiser course than making the situation worse. leaving. I need >> You're touching me. You're touching me. That's assault. You're assault. It's not assault. >> It's assault. It's assault. >> I am for you. You want me roll over? You don't want being kn. >> On the 26th of April, 2024, officers received a call from a shopping mall reporting that two customers, a man and a woman, had threatened other people. Officers quickly responded to the scene, but they had no idea the situation had already begun to escalate into a tense confrontation. >> Come here, please. We're in the Senokco and they're ignoring my plans to stop. >> Come here, please. >> No. >> What do you mean no? >> No. >> Please do not talk to them right now. I need to deal with them. >> Okay. We don't call >> somebody to verify a crime as well. >> You need a verification? >> They're running westbound towards the interstate. The two suspects kept walking away despite repeated commands from officers to stop. As one officer stayed close behind them, additional patrol units arrived just in time to cut off their path and the situation quickly descended into chaos. >> Come on, man. Take right here. Here. Don't grab my dick. >> I am. >> I'm the [clears throat] right onto your stomach. >> What's the problem? What I'm being detained for? >> What have I been arrested for? >> You are being detained for an investigation. >> What investigation? >> Something that happened in the mall. I don't have to explain myself further. >> Where I'm at? Am I at the mall? Nope. So, this part of the camera, right? >> Officers struggled to handcuff the man as he actively resisted, but he immediately denied resisting in an unreasonable manner, insisting that he had every right to act the way he did. >> Why? Well, you resisted for about 5 minutes. I didn't resist. Y'all had me pinned. >> I told I would help you. >> No, that's not how this works. >> Yes, I did. >> I tell y'all, you're detained. You pulled away. >> I pulled away. You pulled away. >> I had them in so and I was telling them to stop >> and they told me to stop. He said no. >> Yeah, cuz y'all got no reason to touch me. You're just making yourself. >> Look at my record, fool. >> Why? You've been arrested. Then you should know that. >> Guess what? I know a lawyer. We'll go. >> Yes. >> Meanwhile, another officer remained at the shopping mall to interview employees and gather statements about what the suspects had done before police arrived. >> The guy that was in the family restroom come out and basically told me business. >> Okay. >> So, you know, I'm like, "No, this is my business. I work here. I'm secure." >> Yeah. >> But, uh, after after I got her to do the tag for the restroom for the lady. >> Yeah. >> Uh he comes out of the where both of them came out of the >> the girl and the guy. >> Okay. >> Yeah. He comes out of the family restroom and she came out of the nursery and that's when he said to her and to me that both of us would get popped. >> Get popped. Did he make any gestures like toward his >> he was pointing his finger? >> Everybody know. >> Okay. Cuz uh officer uh Hulcom was telling me sometimes he was reaching reaching toward his pants and reaching toward his bag. >> Right. >> Okay. >> But he at that time he was not >> Yeah. This was after he went in the common area outside of the restrooms. He made motions to go towards his bag or his waistline. He did it all around South Pennies as they walked off site. Okay. They were on the golf cart and he kept making like a motion >> heard a movement. Okay. Um and she was saying officer Hul was saying they they've been here and done this before. >> So I I was here one day. Uh Carile came out. The guy they came to our security door cuz a a scooter they apparently rode got an overnight parking citation on it and they were going to come here and us. They came banged on the door. We followed them through the mall. They went out uh the east or yeah east side of UF and Carile got them out there on 62nd. >> Carile comes to me and says that >> by the bus stop >> just up from it south of it. >> He said there's nothing I can do yada yada. Meanwhile, the female suspect showed no remorse whatsoever, denying every allegation against her. explain most of that. Funny cuz I didn't do anything. I'm really like confused. I work at the mall. I work at Gohead. >> Let me let me explain it to you. But I need that clear to you before I explain it to you cuz you're going to ask questions and I'm going to ask questions. I'm going to go back and forth and >> Yes, sir. >> I need everything to be clear. So, a situation happened at the mall. Pretty much as part of our investigation, we have the right to detain people who are part of that. >> So, when the officer told comes up to you and says, "Stop. and you walk away, you walk in the snow cone, you walk out of the snow cone, you keep walking down the street, >> that gives us probable cause to arrest you for resisting without violence. When you're given a lawful order to stop, you have to stop. >> What? >> No, cuz I didn't know that, but I don't know. >> Okay. You don't No one's ever told you if a police officer tells you to stop, you have to stop. >> If you're not guilty, no. >> So, you just get to determine that you didn't commit a crime? >> No, sir. >> So, we How How do you >> Explain this to me. How do we investigate a crime if anybody can just walk away at any particular point? >> Exactly. So, we have to be able to detain someone to do that, right? Exactly. >> So, we have to be able to physically force them to stop. Now, as I read your writ, you don't have to talk to us, but we have to be able to identify you, have witnesses identify you, and conduct an investigation in relative calm, which doesn't really work if you're walking away and and not following commands to do so. Okay? So you understand all of it. Okay. So [clears throat] basically at any point did anyone say anything about a gun inside the mall? >> Neither one was. No. >> So someone else said something about a gun. >> Yeah. But that's what I was like he literally lied. >> In the end the couple was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and aggravated assault. When people believe they are above the rules, they often mistake lawful authority for oppression. Refusing to cooperate, escalating a confrontation, and dismissing the concerns of others rarely proves innocence. It only creates more victims and leads to far more serious consequences than the original incident. Worse, the man continued creating a chaotic situation that became increasingly difficult for officers to control. >> Take me to jail for what? On the 28th of August, 2025, police officers approached a man named Richard at a grocery store after receiving reports that he was causing a disturbance by repeatedly yelling and pouring milk on himself and others. He appeared to be in an unstable mental state, so officers immediately took action to control the situation. >> What's going on? >> Um, take me to jail. >> For what? >> Thank you. I got him. I got him. >> Oh, god damn it. >> It might still need >> I don't know. I'm not really sure. >> Go grab your hub. >> God damn. >> What are you doing? Stop. What are you doing? >> I'm not moving. >> Why are you doing this? >> I'm not moving. >> Why are you doing this? >> Um, it's it's for a goddamn uh [ __ ] ass [ __ ] >> That's what That's why. Hey, goddamn bottles pointing at my mother. >> Hey, you hit me. Go ahead. I love you. The officers successfully detained the man, but he showed no signs of stopping. He continued making aggressive remarks and unintentionally admitted that he had used multiple types of drugs. >> Needle in my back, dog. Richard, >> you did. >> You did, mother. >> Richard, nobody has a needle. >> Okay. All right, so what did you take? >> A little bit of acid, a little bit molly, some coke, some goddamn I did a whole freak of cocaine if you do that one more time. >> Nobody's doing anything. I'm already sir. Yep. >> I keep doing that pushing it into my [ __ ] legs. >> Immediately afterward, the man's embarrassing behavior continued. However, with his legs restrained, he no longer had to walk on his own. >> Bo, what? God damn it. God damn it. mother. >> Hey, that's >> God damn it. >> Yes, sir. >> Ow. The goddamn needle, dude. What the [ __ ] hurt? >> I'll get the door. >> Stop taking out. >> Stop. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Godamn it. Stop. Stop. >> Hey, you know what? I bet the mother uh president will love me. President Trump, >> I need your help. >> [screaming] >> What are you doing? >> RICK FLAIR. >> RICK FLARE. THAT WHOLE [ __ ] >> RICK FLAIR. DICK. COME ON. LET'S get in the car, Richard. >> After placing him in the patrol vehicle, one of the officers returned to the store and began gathering statements from the employees about the man's actions in order to collect evidence for the case. >> I can actually do it right now. >> Okay. >> You know what kind of milk it was? >> Just one? >> I believe it's just the one. That's the only one I saw him with in his hands. I don't know if he had another one. Someone said whoever called in said he wasn't pouring it on himself. >> He on himself all like borrowing it like >> So was it more than one? Is it all just one ball? Is it all just a half gallon? >> Yeah. >> Are they all the same price? >> It's a one half gallon of milk where he was pouring. >> There's only one destroy. We did a walk. >> No, just put milk everywhere. [laughter] >> That's enough. I want to say y'all's turn around time was real quick. >> We were actually like I saw here and then next thing I know >> next thing I knew I had like six of you guys were like here. I was like all right. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Um so you just saw him? >> Yeah. It was literally right at the same section right before you guys. >> This is literally seconds right before we got here. >> Cool. I don't think I should have to get a statement from you. >> It did not stop there. A person close to the suspect also arrived at the scene and her statement further confirmed the man's unstable condition. >> I know her. >> Hold on. What happened? >> He's not It's not that. He went in there and started showing his ass. He poured milk all over himself. He's throwing [ __ ] everywhere. >> Okay, listen. >> What did he need to >> Yeah. What did he tell? >> He's been tracked out on >> Okay. >> for like 4 days. I've been trying to do stay. >> How come he didn't talk to me last night when we were there? >> Cuz he wasn't making no sense last night. Hey, you need to move your truck. Will you pull that way? That way they can drive by. >> I don't even know. >> He's tripping crazy right now. >> I know. He needs to He needs to come down. What he needs to do I've been trying to get him to lay down or sit down to calm down to just chill a minute, you know? He won't. I'm like, "Oh my god, what do I do? no time for us. So I just let him go and I just he just he went to jail for 60 days. He got out and got out and his that time he was in there, you know, the level came down, you know, he came off of it. >> Yeah. >> And he went behind and just >> he's just been out there. >> He's been out there. >> He's right now he's either going to be bakered. I don't I don't know what happened whenever they first got in the store with him, but he's not been compliant. He's been pretty he's been pretty uh not right now. Medical has to talk to him. Okay. >> When officers returned to the suspect, he continued banging inside the patrol vehicle and spitting everywhere, causing the officers to once again face a tense situation as they tried to figure out how to deal with him. Look at that. Look at that. >> Knock it off. >> Now it's a twitch. >> 656. We have another charge battery on it. Put a shirt over his head so he can't spit anybody's face again. >> Love it, baby. Oh my god. You know what? Let's get hit it. Yes, sir. Find some change. Get some cocaine and get some cash. >> A little bit in America. >> All right. Ready? Okay. Yes, sir. You are the ONLY I love that. got no seat belt on it. >> The man was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief for causing a disturbance and damaging store property. This incident shows that refusing to cooperate and allowing emotions or substance use to control your actions can quickly turn a minor situation into serious legal consequences. Even more strangely, this teenage girl didn't appear to be fully aware of what was going on. >> Things in your bag. You weren't going to pay for >> No, I was going to pay for that. >> You were? >> Yes, I was. I swear on my body stuck at blownups and doing my hair and doing my nails. I didn't steal nothing. My boyfriend's buying me stuff later. >> On the 27th of May, 2026, police received a call from a store reporting that a woman named Victoria had been shoplifting. To learn more about what happened, officers arrived at the scene and spoke with a store employee. >> What did this male look like? >> Oh, that was me. >> No, the one that supposedly took the uh >> What did she look like? >> Yes. >> She had like reddish pinkish hair, black fur. It's a black skirt cuz I saw some girl with like a leop almost like a leopard print skirt. >> Yes. [music] Yes. With leopard shoes. >> Leopard shoes. A long like bag like saggy bag. >> Okay. Sorry. What did she take? >> She took Well, she tried to at least I got it back from her. She tried to take this and she took this dress and put the hanger back over here. So, this I she watched her put this in the bag and then I saw the polka dot dress in her purse and I said, "That's my I was like, "That's my dress in your bag." And she's like, "No, it's mine." >> Okay. Yeah. >> So then I was like, "Let me see her back or I'll literally call the cops." >> All right. >> And but I was scared of her to be in here before like like calling you guys that she was in here cuz I don't know what she's going to do. So then I was just like, >> "I think I know who it is." >> I said, "Just please don't come back." I said,"And she said, "Can I buy it?" I said, "No, you're just not allowed to come back in here." >> Okay, I think I know. >> Soon after, officers responded to a Dollar General after receiving information that Victoria had been seen there. As soon as they approached her, she remained completely calm, as if she had already prepared an excuse for herself. Hi. Did anyone come in here recently? >> That's the bathroom. >> Hi, Victoria. >> Hi. >> Come with me. >> Okay. >> All right. Listen to me. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you could say can use against you in a court of law. You have a right to an attorney. If you can afford an attorney, won't be provided to. Do you understand your rights? What happened at Trey Chic >> at here? >> No. Trey Chic. >> Oh, I um I told her I told her I was going to buy buy it. I put in my purse and I was going to look for my credit card in my purse. But then she thought I was going to steal it, but I wasn't. And I told her I put it in here cuz I don't like to hold it. And then I was going to ask if she could cut my hair. And then she was like, "No, you're not allowed here." My friend said he's going to buy it for me later. He said, "Just go home. I'll buy you what?" >> So my friend's going to come later and buy it for me. But I'm not allowed in there anymore. But I didn't steal nothing. I let her check my purse. I let her check my purse. She said, "Next time you come, I'm calling the police." And I said, "Okay." >> That's not the story that I got. Yeah. >> Oh, but I She checked my purse. She said, "Next time." >> Yeah. You put the two things in there. >> She said, "Next time I I told you I was going to buy it." And she said, "No, you're not allowed back." >> She completely ignored what the officers were saying, repeatedly telling her own story to avoid the issue. Even when they asked her direct questions, her answers never addressed the point. >> And you put two things in your bag. I told my friend cuz I had >> Hold on. Don't Don't talk. Listen. You went You put two things in your bag. You weren't going to pay for it. >> No, I was going to pay for it. >> You weren't? >> Yes, I was. I swear on my body. >> And that's why she said, "Give me your purse or I'm pulling the car." >> I have a credit card in here. I was going to I hear a lot. I was going to I was going to buy it. >> Let me see it. Yeah. This is a gift card. >> I thought I could buy it with that. >> All right. We felt wrong. That's for live bread. >> Well, I called my boyfriend. He said he's going to buy me it later. He said, "Just go home." I was I was walking to Dunkin Donuts because my mom gave me this credit card for Dunkin Donuts. This look, I'll show you. My mom gave me this for Dunkin Donuts money. See, I have >> Okay. Well, we're not talking about Dunkin Donuts. >> I was walking there. >> The um >> my friend told me just go home. But I mean, she said next time I go, she's going to call the cops. So, I wasn't going to go, but I was going to pay for it. I told him my I even called my boyfriend after. He said he's going to get it for me. >> Okay, hold on. Fine. >> They said if I go back again, they're going to call the cops. So, I'm not going back. I wanted them to give me a um a haircut called the wolf haircut, like where it makes your hair like wolfy. It's called butterfly or wolf. >> At this point, officers arrested the suspect and took her into custody for further investigation at headquarters. However, the items found in her bag also raised even more suspicion among the officers. >> What's the bag >> on the ground? >> Is my mom going to take you? >> I have it. I got her information while I was wait. I said wait. >> Is my mom going to get you? >> You could walk out of there if you want. For all I >> headquarters. You're going to be charged for the attempt. >> Yep. Drop it. Hold on, >> Victoria. >> Yes. I didn't take >> Do you have any needles in here? >> No, I don't do drugs. >> You don't do drugs. >> No, I of course I stopped. That's why I replaced it with thorned ducket donuts and doing my hair and doing my nails. I didn't steal nothing. My boyfriend's buying me stuff later. >> Did you just buy all this here? >> No, I bought it another store. >> What store? from on when I was at Walgreens with my boyfriend. >> When? >> Yesterday. >> Yesterday? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, when we go in there and check the cameras, this stuff's not going to be here. >> No. >> I know they sell this. >> Okay. >> Don't Don't play the game. I'm not >> because if we go in there, he's going to check. >> If you just took it, just tell me now cuz I don't want to waste my own time. >> Victor. Victoria, you're obviously deflecting from us cuz when I came around the corner to speak to you, the first thing you say is, "I'm looking for the bathroom and you and you look like, you know, you look like a like a little child that, you know, did something that wasn't supposed to. That that's like the look that you had on your face." We're going to go in there. We're going to we're going to ask the guy and we're going to see if these things are. So, did you take them? >> They they might sell them there, but I didn't >> Did you take them here or not? >> They have They have surveillance there. >> I know, but I didn't. You going to make me do the leg work or go looking through all that crap? >> She refused to admit any wrongdoing despite the growing evidence against her. Even more arrogantly, she admitted she had considered confessing just to get the officers to move on. >> Maybe I just said that to say it. Maybe I just said that to say it. >> I didn't take nothing. I just said that so we could go. >> I didn't take nothing. >> No, I didn't. I said because so we could go. 945 master 1024. >> Can you play music? >> I'm going to I'm going to take her in. >> Uh-oh. Am I going to jail? >> Am I going to jail? >> No. >> Okay. Does this You guys sell all this stuff? >> Yes. >> Yeah. Did you know if she >> No one bought that today? >> No one bought that today. >> Yeah. >> Okay. But you definitely sell all this. Could you show me over there? Okay. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Excuse me. >> Please. >> Thank you. >> Keep going. Keep going. >> Keep going. >> Uh-oh. >> See that that soap dispenser right there? Face that. >> Right here. Right here. Face that. >> Uh, I can call and ask. >> You don't have to search me. I could take off all my I mean I don't have no drugs. I don't have that. >> You can put the K9 dogs. >> Victoria >> here. >> He's just asking. That's That's all. If you're okay with him searching >> I don't want a guy searching. >> Okay, no problem. >> I don't like when you >> I get it. >> Especially when they hold you down and put you in this like those crazy things. One time a man bruised me because he thought he had to put his leg on me. And I'm starting to remember people more cuz I stopped playing drugs. >> Good. I'm glad. What were you trying to steal for? You just wanted new clothes. >> I thought it was such a cute dress and my my boyfriend's buying it from me. >> Okay. What's your boyfriend's name again? I feel like I met him before. >> I got a new boyfriend. His name is Connor. Okay. >> It was not Edwin, guys. >> In the end, Victoria was charged with retail theft. This case shows that avoiding responsibility only makes a bad situation worse. Every excuse weakens credibility, while honesty is the first step toward earning trust again. Next, the shoplifter decided to turn herself in. >> She stopped it. I've seen her do everything. >> So the end I had come. >> What happens if I put on the paper? I want to myself. >> Well, then if that's what you're feeling. On the 19th of March 2025, a woman walked into a police station to turn herself in for a shoplifting incident at Target 2 weeks earlier, showing remorse for what she had done. This was what happened next. >> All right, Mr. March 5th at about 8:25 p.m. at Target. You want to tell me what happened? >> Yes. I was with this girl. Okay. To be honest, she had her in my car. We went to Target. So we was in the store. I had told her, "Can you please put that stuff back that she was stealing?" She had a big bag like this big. Every store that we went to that day, she stole a lot of stuff. Meredith Okamo. >> What is it? >> Meredith. Okambo. Like O C A M P O. >> Okay. Meredith. >> Uh-huh. I tell you where she's stay at, too. She stay um her I don't know her address but she stays south trip that's in Chicago Illinois by Archer not too far from here. >> Okay. >> Okay. Well like the airport. >> I could show you guys where she stay at. I could literally you guys could patrol me and I'll take you to her house so you can see where she stays at. >> Is that Are you guys friends or >> Yes. Okay. >> We've been known each other since high school. >> Okay. So that day I had told people when I had stopped inside the door I said I don't have nothing you could check me [snorts] the same way how I came inside the store with a jacket on that's why I'm going to leave out I don't have nothing I told her you could go ahead I went like this I went to the guys just like this I said you could check me I spread my legs out you want to check me before I leave I said if anything she's the one who had everything in her purse >> she stuffed it in there I seen her do everything So the end I had come and then when I had told the police like I would I was going to leave but then that's when old girl she was by the door and she seen that they were kept getting closer to her so then she ran my way. [clears throat] >> Although she cooperated and pointed to her accomplice she still tried to minimize her own role especially when police questioned her intent. >> Yes. >> What was your guys's intention? Did you guys did you know she was going there to steal? >> No. Okay. I had a couple dollars on me, but I was looking in the store to see what I was gonna get. And then I didn't I didn't know she was stealing, you know, cuz I was over here, you know, she kept going around. Then when we got when I got so close to her, she was like, she went like this. And she said, "Fuck." And I told her, "You got to put that stuff back." >> What kind of items were you looking for? How much money did you have on here? >> I had like five bucks. >> What kind of items were you going? >> What I was going to look for? I was going to look for something really small, like cosmetic stuff. Uh-huh. >> But she I didn't know that she was going to go in there and steal. She went to like four stores >> before that. >> Yeah. >> Did she Didn't she stole everything? >> And she stole everything. >> And you didn't think that she was going to go into another store after stealing from four stores and steal again? >> Yes, I did. I'm going to be honest with you. Yes. But I had told her to stop doing that because I had told her that I told her I'm the only one with the car. So they going to look at me like I'm the bad guy. I'm not the bad guy here. >> Yeah. >> I'm not the to be honest with you. I'm not the bad guy. I I wouldn't steal. Can I tell you something? Look, I know that whatever I said could be used against me, but I'm going to be honest with you, completely honest. When I was younger, I was like, I I stole something and they came I I they put me in back. They put they took me to Grand Central. I went to Central [clears throat] one night. The next day, they transported me to 26 in California. I had learned this when I was younger. Although she tried to avoid responsibility for her actions, her wrongdoing was hard to change and police made that clear. >> In 10 minutes, okay? It's okay. Listen, >> I know you're going through some tough stuff. You know what I mean? It is what it is. And we're not going to make this any bigger deal than what it is. You know what I mean? You took some things. >> You know, you're going to be out of here in 10 minutes. What happens is we're going to just put your name into the system. and we're going to fingerprint you, take your picture, and we're going to give you some paperwork for a court date, and you're gone. But you can't go back to Target, okay? You can't go back into that store no more cuz if they see you, they're going to want you arrested for trespassing, and I don't want to go through this again. You know what I mean? But if your friend's telling you to do that, and that's truly what you're saying, you just got to be stronger. You got to be stronger because like your dad said, you're just going to get yourself into more trouble. And if she's if she's a bad influence on you, you can't be hanging around with her. But the fact of the matter is by the statute you're the one that carried that bag out. You can I don't know. But but once you here's the thing. Once once you pass into that best deal, you pass those things that's you're committing a retail theft. >> You're pass the last point of purchase. Yeah. >> It's over. You know what I mean? It's >> so it's a very small it's a very minute small thing that isn't but but that's what it is. So like I said, we're not going to make this anything bigger than what it is. you know, we just got to put your name into a system real quick and then we'll fingerprint a photograph you and you're going to walk out the door. >> Okay. >> It was clear that she became overwhelmed with remorse after hearing the consequences of her actions, even expressing deeply troubling thoughts. >> I'm going to have to say I put on the paper I want to myself. >> Well, then if that's what you're feeling, I'm going to have to get you an ambulance. I was going to ask you. Is I'm going to get my car back or you guys are going to jump my car? >> You didn't take your car, didn't you? Your dad took the car. >> Mm-m. >> Is it out there? >> I don't know if my car is still here. >> Well, I'm not We're not going to take your car. >> So, you guys towed it. I thought you guys jumped it. >> Who towed? We towed our car. >> No, not us. >> Not us. You drove away from it in Target that day, right? >> No. Okay. Yes. Yes. Yes. But I literally not too long ago I was just here at one of your stations. >> This is our This is our only station. We're a small department unless the city or somebody got you for something else. >> Are you up to date on payments and everything >> like tickets? >> No. Like you owe >> do you owe money on the car like when you bought it? >> No. >> No. >> When did when when have you not had your car? When's the last time you had it? The last time I had him was like two days ago before I got in a car accident on Columbus and Western. >> Oh, so the city got that's that's over in the uh >> I don't even know where that's at. >> That's >> It could be said that her self harm thoughts might have shifted the case toward a mental health crisis, but because she was still concerned about her car, police believed she was stable and gave her some advice. >> That big of a deal. >> You're still young. We got guys here that started their careers at like >> 40. Yeah, >> you're only 29. Age is just a number, too. >> I hear a lot. >> You got to be young. Young at heart. That's it. Be young at heart. >> This is a really tough world out here. >> It is. It ain't getting any easier. But for the most part, it works out. You mean everybody has their little, you know, problems, whatever you run into. You know what I mean? >> That's true. >> And you you you get by. Like today, it's a little problem for you, but 10 minutes, you'll be out of here. You'll be walking down Archer in this beautiful weather. You know what I mean? Got some money in your pocket. >> Yeah, you're right. Cuz they told me yesterday that if I don't show up, I don't come here. They said that. >> Well, then they get a warrant for you. >> And again, now they changed the warrants. So then if they grabbed you, you would literally have to sit and wait to see the judge. >> And that could be at any I mean you could be it could be Christmas morning if you contacted the police. Guess what? >> Wow. >> That's it. >> That's it. You can't you can't pay a bond to get out anymore. They just the judge ordered it. You got to go see him or her, whoever. You know what I mean? >> Or you come here on your own time and you're out >> like this. You'll be out in time. This is taking honest to God, this is taking a little bit longer because >> they have some Yeah. In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft.
