498 radio alarm and we're pursuing the subject. He just ran from me. Heading towards PIB. >> Put your thing up here. >> Why? I'm not putting my hands up. You're not walking me. Why? >> Now you're going to jail for resisting. >> Why? Hands up. Now there's two. All right, she's >> Why? >> She's going to jail. >> Why? You're squeezing MY KIDNEYS HARD. >> ON THE 25TH OF JANUARY, 2025, officers responded to a call from the Sunglass Hut at Coastland [music] Center Mall after a woman was reported for stealing sunglasses. What seemed like a simple shoplifting case quickly turned into something far more serious with a total value of the losses reaching a surprising amount. First, here's what happened when officers made contact with her. >> Open this [laughter] bag. >> Yeah, there's nothing inside this bag at all. It's my stuff. Okay. >> All right, so we're going to go out to the car. Let's see. Where are you parked over at? >> I'm taking you I don't really know the area of course. >> All right, go out go out this way then. We're going out this way? Cuz I have another officer coming. Or we can walk around here. Go out this way. Can you ask him if he'll sign a sworn statement for the sunglasses since we don't have him and see if he'll press charges? Okay. What kind of car is it? >> It's an Altima. >> Can they meet you over here? >> She was out of the mall. The car is open. >> What color is it? >> I can see it from Walk that way. I don't know. >> You have an idea on yours? You said it's in the car. >> Yeah. >> Where's it at? In the parking garage? >> I want you to search all of my stuff. I don't have any glasses. Where do you live? I don't know. This is my first time being searched. You can take my [ __ ] glasses. So if you don't find no glasses I can leave, right? Because I don't have any glasses. >> No. So You're on video putting the glasses in your jacket. They're not in the store. >> Yes, they are and that's why I put the glasses back. >> So, if they they want to press charges, then they can press charges on you. That's for the glasses. >> She was then escorted outside to the parking lot to ensure she could not flee. Officers detained her shortly afterward. >> Turn your hand inwards. There you go. >> At least let me make a phone call to my grandmother. >> Okay, you can wait. You have anything on us that's going to poke us, stick us, or anything like that? Okay. >> Can I at least make a phone call, sir? >> You can make a >> I just want to let [laughter] my grandmother know. >> Yeah, yeah. >> Please. >> You know what that is, so >> Yeah, I know what that is. >> So, you will be arrested for that alone. >> Do you have anything on you? >> No. Can I at least make a phone call, sir? >> Yeah, why don't you make a phone call to whoever has the vehicle to come over here to get your ID. >> Can I give you my name? He wanted to go to the bathroom. At least so she can get my kids, please. >> Can you move over there? >> For my kids. They have a play house, please. >> What's your birth name? >> J A V O N >> J A V O N >> S H A Y E >> S H A Y E >> D A V I S >> Officers believe the woman had handed [music] the stolen sunglasses to an accomplice because they could no longer be found on her. However, they still discovered several other items that were believed to have been stolen from other stores. >> They've been doing this for weeks. >> You know, pink usually presses charges. >> Uh, my ID? >> It's 305. >> You booked me in this, deputy? >> [laughter] >> Yes, sir. >> No. We're not county. >> No, I'm just kidding. >> [laughter] >> Um Oh, no. Yeah, I know. >> There's a 504. >> Yeah. >> And I was sent this way and then I had to ask these things I couldn't ask you questions. >> Check. Hold on. So, you guys sent someone to pink for me? Pink? Yeah, we were going to What is it? Victoria's Secret, I guess. And she she [snorts] >> She had no receipts. >> It was difficult for the woman to deny what she had done with this much evidence against her. Officers even confirmed how she had been able to get past the store's security. >> I didn't. >> Yeah. But there's no price tag on it, so she ripped the price tag off of them. I'm assuming you get out of uh That's what I think it is. What all does it It is a heavy magnet just to pop it off. Just about oh. Damn that. Did you send someone already? >> No, I mean >> What's that? >> What is it 207? >> All right, coming back. Thank you, sir. What's that? Um Yeah, cuz I have hard evidence. I mean, I could do that. I could do that at the station. I can do it at the station. >> You can take it? >> I don't know. Shift supervisor calls me and I have to take it when I'm on my route, but No, but I'm I'm here, but I Yeah, they made me come in early. >> Same, you were worried about getting out of the fire. >> No, I messed up and came in the wrong time. I wish to press charges on behalf of Walmart again. You don't even have to do that. Just I wish to press charges. She means trespass. Yeah, she'll be trespassed from the mall, definitely. >> Thank you. >> Yep. What I'm going to do is just sign this real quick and then if you want a photo of yourself real fast. >> Yeah, I can do >> This way you have a case number and stuff on it. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft and possession of burglary tools. Bringing a tool to defeat store security can become a separate [music] felony even if the stolen merchandise is never recovered. So why go through self-checkout, purchase the toe, and then try to leave the store? Yeah, it's waiting for it. >> [music] >> Holy cow. On the 26th of October, 2025, officers responded to a report from a Walmart after store employees detained a woman suspected of shoplifting. Before we confront the suspect, let's take a look at the surveillance footage the store had captured earlier showing the same woman wearing the very same uniform. >> Yeah. >> So, there's also going to be some personal items down there like dog food. >> Mhm. >> And she puts the tote of candy on top of the dog food. >> And doesn't pay for the >> I got to backtrack and make sure that >> There's no chance that she going to pay for it, but it like it's at the bottom of the the basket. She covers it up with a heavy tote of candy. >> So, this is on a 30th, correct? >> This is on the 30th. So, there's the tote without the lid. >> Okay. So, she's filling all in. >> She pushes it to the back. >> Yeah, pushes it to the back. >> Obviously, I need to do the full video to make sure there's no chance she's paid for it, but it's at the bottom of the basket. There's >> Yeah. >> One of my associates actually does her job for once and takes the tote the top of the tote off. >> And sees all the stuff. >> Yeah, so wait for it. >> Holy cow. >> Yeah, there's LEGO sets on LEGO sets on LEGO sets. >> Attention associate, can I please have back up cashier Castle? >> So, that's all inside of there. Again, I want not to speak out of turn. I want to make sure that I that she didn't at any point pay for this already. But that's pretty suspicious. >> Yeah. >> In our line of work, that's pretty rare to see people >> What day was this on? >> This was 8/27. >> Oh, okay. >> And our our logs on the on the secure platform only go so far. So, that's all inside of there. Again, I want not to speak out of turn. I want to make sure that I that she didn't at any point pay for this already. But >> clearly, this was not the first time the woman had engaged in shoplifting. But what you may not know this time, she was stopped by the store's loss prevention team. To justify her actions, she came up with an excuse of her own. >> Were you just getting off work and stuff? Okay. >> I'm getting stuff for PD for that. And there's my chain and my badge. >> Oh. >> So I was going to ask the lady at the front if she could help >> Okay. And then I don't know keys and stuff. Okay. >> So I blessed her cuz I got a phone call, too. >> Okay. Yeah, he'll he'll chat with you about it and we'll try to figure it out. Do um so you're you're just literally coming back from back into Show Low. Okay. I got you. Okay. Do you have your weapon on you? >> No, I took it off. >> Okay. So is that all personal stuff on you? >> Mhm. Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right, we're done here then. >> So I'm going to take you out there. Special courtesy, I'm not putting you in handcuffs. We're going to take you to the car, put you in back. I'm going to take your bag and just make sure you have nothing on you, okay? Fair enough. And then we'll we'll chat down at the PD and stuff, okay? I'm I'm hitched behind you, so We're going to walk around here real quick, so She's still She's got her patrol car here. >> Oh. >> And Melissa, you said you you didn't have your duty weapon on you or anything like that. You didn't have none of that stuff. Okay. All right. Just making sure. Just making sure. So If you noticed, she was even wearing a law enforcement uniform, meaning she fully understood what constituted criminal behavior. That made her explanation even harder to believe, [music] and officers immediately began questioning the credibility of her entire story. >> I'm just really flustered finding out that a family member had passed. And then like I said, I'm trying to find my keys to get out of there. It it just >> Okay, so a few questions I have is so the tote you have, how come you were putting it inside and putting the lid on it? >> Cuz I'm going to fit another tote in there with candy, if that makes any sense. It just fits side by side. >> So you put in a car two totes candy. Okay. So you said you came here and you're buying it for the department. What were you buying for the department? >> Candy. >> For what? >> Uh it's a trunk or treats. >> They're trunk When is it? >> Uh, we have ones the 13th and the 10th. And then I have the 10th or the 17th, the 24th, and then the 29th and the 31st. >> So, is this your uh department pay for that? >> Yes, they gave me $500. >> So, you have 500 cash on you right now? >> Uh, no. I was just going to use my card and then they >> Your bank card? >> Yes. >> So, do you have any cash on you now? >> Uh, just 100 bucks. >> Is that personal or city money? >> That's my personal money. >> Your own or personal? >> Yeah. >> So, even though when I was you heard last with Mitchell how they're saying you went to the general parts, they came back there, came back around this side. >> walked through to go talk to him about keys. I I realized I didn't have >> So, the whole thing you know, we used to went back and back and forth is because you can't find your keys. >> Yes. >> The officers then confirmed her story with Walmart employees and reviewed the surveillance footage from the incident. When they returned, they decided to give her one more chance to come clean and tell the truth. >> Went to the video and saw the video on the And I just seen where you know, each time going through there concealing the items and then you Why did you grab an extra Walmart bag? When you checked out? >> I did I? >> Yeah. >> I didn't realize that. >> Well, even in your bag you got a bunch of empty Walmart bags. >> those are for poop for uh my Belgian Malinois. So, I use >> So, you keep them when you buy but you don't recall grabbing one today? >> I usually just grab one and I use it to pick up the dog poop. >> Let me hear why you were leaving. Why would you grab one if you didn't need a bag for your items purchased? >> I sorry. >> Okay. Well, and then initially you told me you came here because of trunk or treat. You said you gave Well, none of the stuff you had with you or nothing with candy or nothing like that. >> Well, yeah. So, I was going to do my stuff and then come through and get the candy stuff cuz it's it's really heavy to carry in a tote. The candy bags are are >> Well, I'm going to be straight with you cuz the other officer went in there, watched the video, all your interactions, everything you did and it uh doesn't appear that nothing would happen accidentally today. >> Well, I I asked if they could help me find my keys. I asked if anybody had left keys. I don't know if you've asked in time. >> Yeah, well, no, I did. I I did ask him and verify keys and stuff like that. And he said no one turned any keys, no one nothing like that. And they And they even at the point that they brought up the fact that every time when you went towards extra you put the phone up like you you're on the phone and then you put it back down. And so just >> No, I hung up the call. It's It's my mom. >> Okay. So, I'm just saying, you know, it just doesn't look good the whole thing, but I'm just asking be honest cuz here's the situation here. And this is the what the what I was told cuz I'm here new here from Phoenix. >> The woman continued to stick to her false story, prompting the officers to confront her directly with the allegations. Of course, every accusation was backed by solid evidence they had already verified. >> So, you went to self-checkout, right? >> Yes. >> What did you purchase at the self-checkout? >> I just got the tote. I was >> Why not the items inside of the tote? >> Completely >> You put the Yeah, the items inside of the tote. >> I know, but >> Then you tried to leave the store. >> Yes. >> And you got confronted by asset protection. >> Yeah, I was trying to go to talk to that lady to see if she could hold my cart. >> Mhm. >> I was looking for my keys. Honest, looking for my keys. >> I understand that. I understand that. Um I believe that you're looking for your keys, right? >> Yes. >> But here's the deal, you did a crime today. >> I know it doesn't look good. >> Um no, it's illegal. It's not that it doesn't look good. It's It's shoplifting. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting. >> [music] >> What do you think about the way this woman tried to defend herself? Do you believe she was actually a real law enforcement officer, or was she simply wearing the uniform to give herself confidence while committing the crime? Let us know what you think in the comments below. >> They've got you on camera here yesterday, also, right? >> I wasn't here yesterday. >> Well, you're on camera from here [music] yesterday. >> Ma'am, >> Second Yeah, that's two. All >> Why? >> She's going to stop. >> Why? >> On the 8th of May, 2022, officers received a report of a woman attempting to steal merchandise from a Rural King store by using a fake receipt instead of paying for the items. When they approached her, she tried to deny everything. >> Ma'am, this is the police. Uh, you mind if I bring you your driver's license real quick? >> I don't have one. >> You don't have a driver's license? >> No. >> Um, just hold on 1 second for me, all right? >> Why? >> Why? Yesterday you came into the store and >> Yeah, I got online receipts, too. And the lady even checked it all out yesterday for me. >> Hello, I'll show you the Rural King receipt real quick. >> All right, here's my online receipt, too. >> All right, ma'am, cuz I saw you pass yesterday. >> Here's my email, online receipt, invoice. I'm going to pull Do it. >> Can I get your first name? >> Uh, Sarah. >> You're standing next to a blue 2007 Dodge Durango. It'll be parked under one of the big trees >> Thanks. Ma'am, just for you, so you're not being embarrassed or what not, can we go to the back while we sort this out? >> Uh, well, I have kids out in the car. >> You have kids out in the car? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> But here's the online receipt. >> or >> No, it's not running. Here's the online receipt. >> Okay. There's there. Okay. All right. Well, let's walk back here so that we're not up here in front of everybody and embarrassing you. >> This was paid for, so I know that cuz I paid that. >> Okay. Thank you. We we just >> Although she appeared calm, her behavior was rushed as if she was panicking about something. Meanwhile, the store employees explained why they believed the receipt was fraudulent. >> I mean, some of this stuff on the bottom is in his handwriting. >> Well, the this is from our shop. That's his handwriting. He He recognized that. He's like, "Yes, I wrote that out. That's for weed eater." This stuff down here is not his handwriting. It's not the other mechanic's handwriting. He knows his handwriting as well. And when we do a when we do a um paid in full like that, that's done up front of the registers, not back there at the shop. They wouldn't do that. Because they have to pay at the register. >> Uh everything that's on there? >> Mhm. >> The two compressors and everything that we had our camera for yesterday? Um everything is still in boxes. When people bring stuff to the shop, they don't they're not bringing them in boxes. >> is is from yesterday right here. >> Yeah, the two compressors >> I just put that I just put that in. >> Well, leave your purse here then. >> I'm still figuring out where to put the purse and that room with tampons and stuff like >> So we I just walked into the store with tampons in my hand. >> Do us a favor. Here's here's the problem. There's been a crime alleged, okay? >> I have receipts. >> Listen, listen. What did I say? A crime's been alleged. We're trying to get to the bottom of it. But because that crime's been alleged and there's evidence of that, we have cause to where we could arrest you. We're trying to be >> Okay. >> cordial about it. So if you could do us a favor, if you need a tampon, grab one, take it with you, leave the purse here. She will go with you to the bathroom, okay? >> In fact, this was not the first time the woman had done something like this at the store. She returned because she had successfully carried out the same scheme the day before. At that point, the officers confronted her about it. >> So how many generators did you buy? >> They said there was one generator. I don't know, honestly. >> You don't remember how many generators you bought? >> me that bought it. It was somebody else. >> They've got you on camera here yesterday also, right? >> I wasn't here yesterday. >> Well, you're on camera from here yesterday. >> see it. But I wasn't here yesterday. >> These cameras do not lie and we have all the time in the world to investigate this and we're going to keep you here until it's over. So if you do not cooperate with me, I can assure you that we will do everything we can to keep you in jail with a high bond. Do you understand that? >> with you, sir. >> Okay. What we've got you on video today doing is selecting the items off the shelf and walking past all points of sale without providing purchase. So >> walking past the points. I was at the register when they came up to me. >> Did you purchase these items today at the register? >> Yes, at the register I showed the girl the receipt for it. >> Well, you showed her a receipt. Did you buy those items today? >> No, I bought the the block and then when she came out I was going to buy the two things that I I mean I got the money in my purse and >> Mhm. Have you ever been arrested before? >> Yes. >> What was it for? >> Uh I was with a girl for petty theft that was >> Petty theft? Well, that doesn't surprise me. How many times have you been arrested? >> Once. >> Are you from Pasco County? >> No, sir. >> Have you ever been arrested in Pasco County? >> Once. >> What's your social? >> I don't even know that I have one. It starts with my bottom number. >> No, hold up. >> I don't know if I have one. >> All right. >> First of all, I'm I'm over 40 years old. I'm not going to sit here and listen to somebody that Listen to me. I'm not going to listen to somebody that's 30-something years old tell me they don't know their social. >> You're going to get one chance to lie to us and then I'm going to start charging you. You understand that, right? Okay. When he runs that, if it's not your social you're going to jail right now. >> I believe that's my social. >> Okay. >> The officers were still unable to find any social security information in the system using the number she provided. She tried to keep the deception going, but the officers decided it was time to put an end to it. >> They got her. Can you stand up for me? >> Why? >> Put your thing up here. >> Why? I'm not being No, you're not cuffing me. Why? >> Now you're going to JAIL FOR RESISTING. >> WHY? Excuse me. Excuse me. My My My purse, please. >> your purse. >> My My resisting arrest charge. >> For why? I'M NOT RESISTING. >> THAT'S RESISTING. >> Right now you're resisting. >> How am I resisting? >> Because you PULLED AWAY FROM MY SERGEANT and tried to flee. >> I didn't mean to. I don't understand why you're >> We're 10-15. >> Why are you taking me to jail? >> You're under arrest. >> Why? >> for false name and >> to Leo and resisting arrest. What else do you want? >> GOD. OW! OW! OW! >> STOP. STOP. >> GOD. >> YEAH, 10-4. WE'RE still trying to verify this subject. It's resisting right now. >> This is crazy. This is absolutely crazy. >> What we're going to do >> OW! OW! PLEASE. YOU'RE CUTTING MY ARM OFF. >> STOP MOVING. >> OW, DAMN IT. PLEASE. >> YOU'RE YOU'RE FLINCHING. Stop flinching. >> I'M NOT TRYING TO. >> MA'AM. >> MA'AM, PLEASE. COME ON. YOU'RE CUTTING MY CIRCULATION OFF. LOOK. LOOK, I WAS ABOUT TO SOMEBODY >> STOP. STOP. >> OW, DAMN IT. IT'S ON MY PHONE, PLEASE. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. Oh my god. >> Ma'am, stop. >> Stop, please. >> Ow. Ow, damn it. Oh you Really? >> We're at We're at >> Really, LADY? COME ON, PLEASE. OW, OW. >> [screaming] >> DAMN IT. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? >> YOU'RE YOU'RE being very dramatic here. >> No, I'm not. >> Turn your wrist. Turn your wrist. >> It hurts. I'm not. >> Ridiculous. Have a seat. >> God. >> She then added another act to her game by pretending to be the victim. Even then, her arrogance showed no signs of stopping. Her next move was even more foolish. She actually tried to flee while wearing handcuffs. >> Ma'am. >> I have this too. All right. >> Why? >> She's going to the >> Why? What are you guys doing this? >> I have my computer. >> Why? >> I got a charger. >> Come on. Ow. Stop. Why are you being so forceful, dude? >> RESISTING. NOW, STOP. >> NOT. I am not. >> Look away from me. >> I'm not being resisting. You're being mean. >> I promise you you don't want to do that. >> What the This is bull [ __ ] This is so Ow, can you please stop? >> You want to resist this? This is what you >> Oh, it is. It's all on camera. >> How am I resisting? >> When you pull away from the officer >> pulling away. I am not pulling away, dude. How am I pulling away from you? How can I? Man, this is ridiculous. Ow. God damn, dude. Can really is not a juice. It's so hard. Oh. Please, let go. My god. >> Hey. Get in. >> Come on, please. >> We'll throw you in. Get in. >> Oh, I'm in. It's hot in here. >> Well, the air's running. >> in here. The air's not on. Oh my god. Can we please discuss this? >> Yeah, we can. We can discuss this. >> to go to jail. >> You're going to jail. >> Why? >> Cuz you did not cooperate and be truthful with us in the very beginning. >> want to go to jail. Please. >> You caught felonies now. >> What do you think about this woman's behavior? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. At that point, the officers explained the charges she would be facing. >> I've lost everything cuz of it. >> So then who was in the car? >> Huh? >> Who was in the car? Cuz you said your your neighbor? >> Yes, the >> Who's that? >> Linda. >> Linda who? >> Uh >> And then you and then you threw it away. Second chance is when I gave you when I was talking to you and gave you a chance. You you in there. You could you could have come clean on everything, on who you are, and everything going on, but instead you chose to continue the lie. After lying to the other officer, you continued to lie to me. You continued to lie to our sergeant. >> It don't be eating me, too. >> Whose cuffs are these? Put them on Officer K. Bring them back, put them in her box. Here's your Nava. Here's your standard here. Face this wall. No 31. They're all out of 10, so you're going to have to deal with an eight for now. >> The woman was charged with felony retail theft, providing false information to law enforcement, and resisting arrest. Lying to cover up a crime often creates even more serious consequences than the original offense. >> Hey, I know what I did was wrong, and I I don't know what I'm thinking of, like, I just want to go Let me just get rid of these stupid things. I'm begging you from the bottom I have literally a bus to catch in 15 minutes. >> On the 9th of February 2026, officers approached a woman as she attempted to leave a Walmart after she was suspected of being involved in an ongoing shoplifting incident. Here's what happened next. >> Can you stop real quick and come in here? >> Yes. Yeah. Can we go in here? >> We're going to go in this office. >> I was trying to get my stuff back. I don't even live here. Can you Can you let me go? I'm literally right right down the road. >> All right. Well, >> I'm >> I don't have a ID. >> What am I thinking? I know that I can't get anywhere. I'm trying to go back to Albuquerque. I literally just wanted to get Can you please just express my greatest apologies? >> well, the faster we get this done, the faster you're able to go. Do you have an ID on you? >> I don't. I have a picture of it. >> What's your name? >> Yeah. My bus leaves at 5:35. And I just really apologize. >> And And Angelique Montoya? >> Angelita. >> Can you spell your last name for me? >> you that ID. >> Yeah. >> Sir, I just really want to I know >> Okay. And then you said you're here from Albuquerque? >> Mhm. >> [snorts] >> I don't know what I was thinking, sir. I'm I'm on the a bus. >> Okay. >> I don't know how to find a phone on getting that anywhere. And um I just really want to go home. >> 9:30, did you take your stuff from a corporate shoplifting? >> Can you Can I go home? >> I No. >> Please, sir. I'm I'm really like trying to express my sincerest like I know what I did was wrong, and like I'm trying to be as cooperative as possible, but I just want trying I'll give you all the you need. >> Angelique Montoya >> I do not want to go to jail, sir. >> Okay. >> Please, I'm very far away from home. I I just bought I spent my last $50 on my bus ticket right here at the El Paso Limousine. And I walked over here. I didn't know what I was thinking to >> Is the address uh on address? >> [snorts] >> Is it written out? >> Uh >> From the woman's trembling hands, it was clear she was genuinely nervous. Moments later, she voluntarily explained her situation in an attempt to earn some leniency. >> I'm trying to go home. I came from Alamogordo. I rode the little bus shuttle here. The first one this morning. >> So, you're trying to get to Albuquerque? >> Yeah. >> And but you're from Alamogordo or you're >> No, my my uncle lives in Alamogordo and I was supposed to visit him. His life's not going well and he asked me to come and help with his kids and >> [sighs] >> She's It's been hard being there. I don't know why I even wasted my time. I have literally like my bus leaves in 15 minutes and if I'm not there, I lose out the money, I'm going to go to jail. Like if you just let me go, I promise never to come back to the city. Do you have transportation and I need to find a way to get to that bus. >> Where's uh where's the bus? >> right here on down the down the road at the El Paso Limousine. >> Oh, you're taking the the the the actual like the bus. >> And like that was literally my last $5 that I had. >> Well, if we can get done here within like the next >> In contrast to the panic she was showing now, surveillance footage had captured her confidently carrying out the theft and walking out of the store with little hesitation. >> She's trespassing. >> She's from Albuquerque, so she's trespassing on my property. >> All from the ones over there? >> Yeah. It's all It's all over them, yeah. All of her stuff is over there. >> Yeah, cuz they have like a festival over there. So like I said, if it was under $500, I would have already given you a citation and let you go, but it's 600 and $69. If it were up to me, I'd rather be giving you a citation, but I mean, if it's felony if it's a >> There was no sign of that trembling when she pleaded. She clearly knew what she was doing, as this wasn't her first time shoplifting. With the case now a felony, officers proceeded to arrest her. >> You could try that, yeah. I mean, there's no paperwork to sign. I mean, you got to You got to go before a judge at this point. All right? Yeah, I will. I'll grab your stuff here in a bit and then I'll Um [snorts] we'll worry about your stuff at the museum. You got anything on you? >> No. >> No. >> Um in my pocket I have a pocket knife. >> 938 and a half female 50. >> Sir, can you just take me to the bus, please? I want to go home. Like I want to be honest. I don't want to get charged >> appreciate it. I'll Um is it okay if I look in there? >> Uh in that black round thing? That's all that's going to be in there, yeah. >> Is it okay if I can look in there and just see what it is and then if I need to throw it away, I'll throw it away? >> Yeah. Yeah. And then um do you think maybe I can have a cigarette? I have a cigarette in the little tin can with a cat on it. I know I'm asking for a lot. >> Yeah, no, no. Hang on. >> I'm just like freaking out. >> Hey, you okay? >> How's the jail out here? >> Uh >> Do you think they process pretty quickly? >> Uh well, they do, but I mean you have to go before a judge. >> And then >> And then the judge will determine your bond after that. >> They're like evening court? >> Uh no. One bad decision can quickly turn into several. Trying to avoid the consequences of a crime by hiding evidence or seeking sympathy rarely changes the outcome. It often only makes the situation worse. >> I stole it today. We have this. Um I have all of Mary's stuff. >> The cameras caught you walking in empty-handed. >> On the 20th of December, 2024, officers received a call from a Best Buy reporting the return of a familiar face, a woman believed to be a repeat scammer attempting a fraudulent return. As soon as they approached her, the officers immediately detained her for investigation. >> Can you tell me who you are please? You can tell me for investigation. >> I'm a police officer. Hi ma'am. I'm with police. So, we are just going to detain you for a second, all right? You're just under investigation right now. >> We appreciate your ongoing cooperation. So, are you here to return anything tonight? >> Tonight was just the Polaroid, which I have a receipt for. >> You were returning the Polaroid? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> The woman was suspected of attempting to return merchandise that she had allegedly tried to steal earlier. The officers became even more suspicious when she struggled to provide a clear explanation about the transaction. >> When did you buy that? >> Uh I would say within the last 2 weeks. >> Last 2 weeks? Okay. >> And I bought the uh tablet, which I don't know if he charged my card. >> The tablet? >> Yeah. >> From tonight or >> Tonight. >> Okay. >> Uh I have to check my credit card statement cuz I can't remember if he processed it. >> Okay. >> I don't think he did. No, because he was trying to get me to sign up for a Best Buy credit card. >> The teller was? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah, and so that's why we didn't go uh proceed with the transaction cuz he wanted to uh run my credit card uh my credit report so I could get the Best Buy credit card. >> Okay. >> Yeah, so that's what happened. >> Um so, why do you think they're saying it's fraudulent? >> Did they say? >> Yeah. That's why they called. This they said you were making a fraudulent return. >> I have no idea. >> Did you buy it at this Best Buy last time, the Polaroid? >> I I might have been. Did they say on the receipt? >> The Polaroid? >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. It says it. >> Yeah. I mean, I have a receipt for it. >> The woman remained completely calm and showed no intention of telling the truth. The officers then questioned her about the origin of the items she was attempting to return. >> Okay. So, when we review camera footage, it will to you entering the store with those two items. >> Yes. >> Okay. Did you go anywhere else with them in the store, or did you just go straight to the customer service to speak with them at all? >> No, I brought the answering at the switch and stuff. >> Okay. Um they didn't have it at the counter, so I don't think they charged you. Yeah, that is >> Yeah, but they were going to do it with my credit card. >> So, yeah. When we review the camera footage, it's going to show you coming in with nothing. Or it's going to show you coming in with the vacuum and that Polaroid camera. >> Yeah. >> How'd you carry it in? >> Uh on the cart. >> On the cart? >> I put it in the cart. >> Uh that definitely shop for it there. >> Yeah, the one I have. >> Okay. So, it'll show those two items in there. Uh the items should match the serial numbers on the receipt, I'm assuming. >> You would think so, yeah. >> Uh have you opened Have you opened them before? >> No. >> Uh have you done anything like this in the past? >> No. >> Why would they say that you're have done this before? >> I have no idea. >> Okay. Has the caller called the police before? Do they have a case number? They haven't got that far yet. Um why don't you grab that case number from that folder? >> Okay. >> The officers questioned her in detail about the origin of the items because it was the easiest information to verify at that moment. Shortly afterward, the store employee gave a version of events that directly contradicted the suspect's story. >> The lowdown on this gal just all together. >> Um I seen her today. We have this. Um I have all of Marysville also has case number on her. For her doing it over there. I think that's all I have on her. Stevie takes really good notes. >> When is this from? Do you know? >> Oh, dang. And you guys recognize her from the previous one? >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah, yeah, we were comparing. >> Perfect. So, what do we have? >> What for? What do we have? >> Mhm. >> Attempted theft here. >> Uh, tonight, but well, she she's listed as a suspect as well. We recognize her from >> So, we have theft for tonight. >> Uh, is this a statement for today? >> For today. >> Yeah, could you include in there that you recognize her from the previous theft? Can you say that case number and just write it in there? >> Yeah. >> Uh, if you already did that, you may have. I was going to say you guys are pretty much >> I recognize the subject. >> Perfect. >> Will you put the case number? >> She doesn't need to. >> No? >> No, well, well, you already gave it to us. So, yeah. >> Yeah, I gave it to you. >> Uh, why don't we take photos? >> Returning to the suspect, the officers gave her one more opportunity to tell the truth, but it seemed nothing had changed. >> Did you walk in the store with those two items? Okay. Did you walk in the store and pick up those items and then go to the counter? Cuz they have it on video and we just watched it. >> No. >> No what? >> No idea. >> No idea? >> No, I did No idea. >> Okay, so what about the previous contacts? Cuz they have a running list of you coming into the store and kind of just pulling the same thing. All within this month. >> Yeah, cuz I'm shopping at CVS. >> Are you But you're coming in empty-handed and saying you want to return stuff that you took off the shelves. >> But I have receipts. >> Maybe for one purchase, but the other two times that's not the case. >> Let me see. >> You were Tonight, the cameras caught you walking in empty-handed. >> Wait a minute. >> You got a lawyer cuz I need to go pick up my son. >> So, Okay, we won't ask any more questions. You can uh search her. >> Okay, go ahead and stand up for me. And then face the vehicle. >> Can I please pick up my son? >> You're under arrest for organized retail theft. >> I need you to just stand there and face the vehicle. >> Do you have someone that can pick her up or something? >> Uh no family friend, no friend. >> Okay. >> Just stay facing the car and widen your stance. Don't Face the car and widen your stance. Face the vehicle and widen your stance. >> What do I need to do? I need to pick up my son. >> Well, I'll let you call someone then. >> Officer, >> There was not the slightest sign of guilt on her face, as if she believed she would soon be free again. What she asked the officers next only reinforced that impression. >> Okay. What exactly is it? >> That you were only taking a certain >> Don't. >> certain amount of money. I don't know how much your bail is going to be. >> Officer, please. I need to pick up my son. >> Does he have a phone? >> He doesn't have a phone. >> We're trying to help you out as much as possible. >> Officer, >> You're going to jail. >> Officer, please. >> You're just delaying everything right now. >> Please, officer. >> You're going to jail. >> Can I please What is it What is Can I do to pick up my son? What do I need to do to get myself out of this? >> is you're getting This is the resolution. Taking up to the home detention center, you're going to get booked. >> Oh my god. >> and then bail out. But, if you keep acting like this, this resolution is going to be delayed and you're going >> I need to I need to pick up my son. >> You're not going to do that right now. >> How long will it take? >> First of all, how old are you? >> I'm 42. >> Okay, start acting like it. You're acting like a child. >> I'm worried about my son. >> And that's why we're going to try to let you make a call. We don't have to. You're not entitled to a call. >> I'm sorry. >> Is she searched? >> Yeah. >> All right. Put her in the car. >> Let's go. Oh my god. I need to pick up my son. I'm I'm so sorry. You should have thought about that. I'm so sorry. >> In the end, the woman was charged with organized retail theft. Every dishonest shortcut trains your mind to believe that consequences can always be avoided until the day they can't. Build the habit of doing what's right before doing what's easy. Next, this giant shoplifter shed tears of belated regret after trying to play games with the police. >> Okay, put your hands behind your back and you'll be you'll be placed under arrest for shoplifting. What is your name? I'm not sitting here to play games. >> On the 23rd of October 2025, police received a report from Walmart about a shoplifting incident. The suspect was believed to have been a woman who fled immediately afterward. But, with the description they had been given, officers quickly found her in a nearby area. Here's what happened next. >> All right, there. Ma'am, police, we're just uh investigating a theft from Walmart. All right. So, at this time we're just detaining you until we figure out what's going on, okay? You match the description. They said a female with gray sweatpants and gray sweatshirt. Okay? So the other officer is speaking with them. Do you know what I'm talking about? What happened? What may have happened? Are we going to speak? Okay. Do you have your ID on you? You have no ID? What's your name? >> I'm not going to give you my information. >> You have to give your information. What's your name? >> My dog. >> Okay, put your hands behind your back there, ma'am. You'll be on you'll be placed under arrest for obstruction. What is your name? I'm not sitting here to play games. >> She seemed to have used her Miranda right to remain silent as a way to refuse to cooperate. After being warned by the officers, she finally began giving her identity, but her answers raised serious doubts about whether they were genuine. >> Which one? >> Which one what? >> I have two names. >> You have two names? >> Yes. >> Okay. What is your name that would be on your proper uh If you have a license, what would that name be? So we can identify you. What is it? Candy? >> Yes. >> What? Okay, I'm asking >> She was making fun of my name. >> I'm trying to hear you. I can't hear you. You had your head turned that way. >> Candy, c a >> What is it? c a n >> c a n d >> d i e What's the last name? >> House. >> House? Hey, drop the attitude right now. Where do you live? What's your address? >> House. D >> D D as in dog? >> I don't know. >> Jersey side. >> The officers ran her name through the system, but nothing came up. >> [music] >> They then asked for her second name, yet it also seemed far from credible. >> What's your other name? >> Diamond. >> Diamond? What's the last name for Diamond? You spell it? Would that have the same date of birth I would assume? That one's not >> on any sort of >> Jada, you have a total? >> I think they said he witnessed it. >> I thought I thought they said after you after >> No, I think he was Did you find anything? >> No idea. >> Do you have an ID? Have you ever had an ID? Oh, we'll find something. That's fine. If you tell us the right name, we'll we'll Yeah. >> She didn't want to give ID or anything that so I'm assuming there's something to it. >> Yeah, well, she said she used to have an ID, so >> Right. So, I'm sure they can find something. >> While waiting for the second name to be checked through the system, the officers took advantage of her growing cooperation to question her about the incident. She then began admitting everything. Did you take anything from Walmart? Yeah? Do you have it on you? Left at the door? >> [cheering] >> Well, we try not to take people to the county. I don't know how they do it over in Wayne. Have you been arrested before? Yeah, a lot or >> Same thing, shoplifting? >> So, it goes by your score, you know? Have you Do you know that now? What's that? So, we're going to be We're going to do our best not to take you to county. >> The woman didn't appear remorseful as she admitted to the theft. In reality though, she seemed to be trying to stay composed because moments after she was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car, tears of belated regret began to fall. >> Can you give me your first and last name and date of birth? You're being placed under arrest. I'm sorry? This time you're placed under arrest for shoplifting. >> [snorts] >> I got you 10-25 82 your stop. >> All good, thank you. >> Thank you. >> [snorts] >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting. Don't mistake staying calm after getting caught for escaping the consequences. Taking responsibility before it's too late is always the better choice. Even worse, from a simple shoplifting incident, his own criminal past quickly made everything worse. >> I show you 10-25 82 iPhone county probation violation. >> Probation violation? 10-4. Go ahead and confirm. >> On the 10th of June, 2024, officers approached a man as he casually walked out of a Walmart acting as though nothing had happened. But what caught their attention was the backpack on his back which to concealed stolen merchandise. Here's what happened next. >> Sir, officer Lyons, step in here for me. Have a seat right over there, sir. Go and pull the shirt out of your pants, sir. Shirts. Is that all you got? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay, go ahead and have a seat for me. >> I'm taking a guess, sir. >> We'll see what's going on, okay? >> I was just trying to get out quick. >> I understand. You guys want to put gloves So, these shirts are at least $48. Cuz they're $24 a piece. Yeah, that's what I said. But shirts are expensive. You guys I'll be out with the shoplifter in the LP office. >> It was obvious the man showed no shame as he handed over the stolen items, but that wasn't all. Officers soon realized he had another problem to face when they ran his information. >> ID only. This is my right information. >> Okay, that's your right information. I just got to ask if you got any ID. >> No, I don't have any ID. >> Okay. >> I might have a picture of it in my phone. >> Okay. Now, if it doesn't come back, we're going to be talking, okay? >> Huh? >> Give your name and you got a Georgia You got a Georgia ID? >> I'm telling you this is my real name. >> Okay, Georgia I'm just saying Georgia >> I know I'm right here. Me giving you the wrong information is going to be way more work. >> Yeah. You got a Georgia ID though? >> know. Yeah. >> Okay. 398 radio, can I get a 27-29 out of Georgia? >> 27 is my code four. I'm Fulton County. It's a missing violation. >> Probation violation. >> 10-4. Go ahead and confirm. >> Probation violation. >> I just got up. >> Okay. >> Do you guys know what county? >> Fulton. >> His demeanor quickly grew more tense, but that only made things worse. While officers were busy completing the paperwork, he took advantage of the distraction and made the worst decision possible. >> 398 radio, I'm in foot pursuit of the subject. He just ran from me HEADING TOWARDS PIB. HE'S GOT ON ALL CAMOUFLAGE PANTS, white t-shirt, and brown cap. He just ran around PI- PIB towards the new construction site. He ran down to the Lane Clark Center. He's got to have the brown beanie cap and a backpack. >> Hopefully you didn't think the shoplifter could escape that easily. With nothing more than his description, patrol officers were able to search the area, and it wasn't long before they found him. >> Get on the [ __ ] ground now. On the ground. On the ground. On the ground. You run I'm a [ __ ] taser, do you hear me? >> I ain't going to run. I just stopped running. My my lips are going to fall off. >> Okay, that's one second. >> Well, if I would have got in the >> Stop running. Shut your mouth. Don't run from us. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. No, he was never cuffed. Well, don't run. You obviously cared if you ran. Stand up. You got gloves? What? Well, I caught you, right? >> You didn't. >> The radio caught you anyways. >> Nice stop. >> Yeah, you're lucky you didn't run. >> What you want to do? >> If you would have run If you would have run, you would have been tased. I can promise you that. >> Shortly afterward, the suspect was taken back to the store once again. To everyone's surprise, officers discovered that his backpack was still filled with stolen merchandise. >> Welcome back. >> I see you got your stuff on you now. Whose [ __ ] is it now? Cuz I know [ __ ] change going to happen at 6:30. >> 6:30. >> Uh 18. >> 18? >> Yeah. >> God damn, WHAT IS THIS [ __ ] DOING? >> THIS is his cell phone. >> Oh, how do you want me to do it? >> This is brand new, isn't it? I'm going to walk in and buy him some water and give him some drink, okay? Do you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. That's fine. >> Is there a >> So, Walmart wasn't the only store he had stolen from. It turned out this wasn't a one-time mistake, but a habit. Even then, he sat in the patrol car as if nothing serious had happened. Okay, come on over here. Hey, you want some water? Come on, sit up. I'll get you some water. Here you go. You can hold your water. Just keep it. You can drink it, okay? I'll get the window I got the windows down, so We'll fix that over. >> Okay. >> He's I it's a probation violation. >> Oh, for larceny, right? >> Yeah. >> In the end, the man was charged with obstruction and theft by shoplifting. Stealing may seem like an easy way to get what you want, but turning it into a habit will only destroy your future and lead to even greater consequences. Next, let's move to the woman who turned Universal Studios into complete chaos. >> I want to leave. I want to go home. No. >> [music] >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> [screaming] >> ON THE 26TH OF NOVEMBER, 2025, officers were dispatched to Universal Studios after receiving reports that an intoxicated female guest had assaulted her fiance. Arriving quickly at the scene, the officers approached park employees to learn exactly what had happened. >> How's it going? Officer Thorne. So, what exactly did you see? >> Uh I was called by my team member who was a greeter. When I got out there, I saw her slapping him and pulling his hair. >> Him who? >> The gentleman with the hat. Don't let anger, intoxication, or impulsive behavior control your actions, as a single outburst can quickly escalate into serious legal consequences. You have a warrant for your arrest for driving with a suspended license out of the sheriff's office in Seminole County. In addition to that, you're also being placed under arrest for theft. >> For what? >> Well, that's what I would like to talk with you about. So, what we'll do is once we get all your stuff gathered and everything, we'll go down to my office and you might be able to clarify some things for me on that, but I'm confident that you know what it is. >> [snorts] >> Will you go grab them and let them know so they can come in and we can get her things. >> If she appeared calm despite being handcuffed, it was because she already knew she had an outstanding warrant for a previous traffic offense. But when officers mentioned the theft case, she appeared confused and denied everything. >> Obviously, I explained to you that you were under arrest. You have a warrant for your arrest for a driving violation, but you're also under arrest for um theft. And you had indicated when we were at the hotel that you were confused by that. >> Yeah. >> It's been a little bit of time since we've spoken about that in the car ride and everything. Do you have any idea as to what I'm actually here talking about regarding the theft? >> No. >> You have no clue. You don't You can't think of anything that you've done that would be wrong where you would be uh arrested for a theft charge. >> No. >> Okay. Were you going to get a pizza tonight? >> Um yes. >> Okay. And did it show up? >> Yes. >> It did? >> Yes. >> Okay. And how did you pay for that pizza? >> Um with my card I had on file. It auto-filled. >> It auto-filled your card? >> I just I clicked one of the cards that was on there. >> Mhm. Okay. So, in order to auto fill something, you have to input it manually first and then save it into your your wallet or whatever phone that you have an iPhone, right? So, it'd be your wallet. So, you have to save that on there. Is that correct? >> So, tonight you ended up placing an order for Domino's and you're saying that you used what your what you thought was your card. >> Yes. >> correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, problem is you didn't use your card. You used a card to one of the guests at the hotel. >> How >> [clears throat] >> Go ahead. >> No, no, go ahead. >> No, no. You're you're asking me. >> No, I just I don't understand how >> The woman appeared confused despite being the one who made the purchases, only raising more suspicion. The officer then pressed her with more questions, hoping she would finally tell the truth. >> How would it auto fill a customer's information, credit card, the credit card number, the expiration date, and the three-digit PIN? How would that be possible to auto fill if you're not using your phone for any work-related purposes, Lexi? >> I I I don't know. >> Okay. Because it wasn't this wasn't the first time that this has happened. You also did it when you went to watch the movies on the 4th at the theater. Do you remember going to the movies? >> Yes. >> What movie did you see? >> I I know obviously what movie I saw. I just can't even think right now. Um Zootopia. >> Is Okay. Just how many tickets did you buy? >> Um three. >> And how did you buy those? >> On online. >> Online? >> Yeah. >> Okay. And how much about how much was that? >> Um 20 something dollars. >> Okay. Sounds right. Yeah? >> Yeah. >> And then how much was the pizza tonight? >> 30 something >> Okay. Yeah, I think it was 40 something, but regardless. >> Mhm. >> Um and even prior to this, I believe this is not the first time this is happening. We just couldn't prove it then, and now we can. You live in Yakima, yes? >> Yes. >> So, a while back, Sergeant Sedano also took a report from another customer that had stayed at the Red Lion saying, "Hey, I stayed at the Red Lion, and then a couple days later, there were these fraudulent charges on my my credit card down in Yakima." Specifically down in Yakima. >> Mhm. >> One of them was from Walmart. One of them was to KFC. And I don't remember off the top of my head where the other one was, but it was another online merchant of sorts. >> Okay. >> And whose name was associated with that? So, the reason I ask how it could possibly be, Lexi, that that gets auto-filled >> Mhm. >> is to help understand because maybe there's a reason for it. I I don't know. I I I'm not in the hotel business. So, there might have been a a legitimate reason you were using your phone and put stuff, but it doesn't sound like it. And talking to the owner, it doesn't sound like that's the case, either. >> No. >> So, help me understand how it could possibly be that >> [snorts] >> two different people had their credit cards used by you on accident to purchase things. >> I don't have an answer for that. >> I can't put words in your mouth because I could, but I think that's disrespectful. I I don't want to do that. I have my own assumptions. >> Mhm. >> And I just kind of laid it out why you've done what you've done by using other people's stuff. >> Under persistent questioning from the officers, the woman could no longer hide what she had done and began admitting to the theft. >> We're here why you did this, how you did it, and what the purpose was for. This might be difficult for you to answer, but I want you to do it to the best of your ability. >> Mhm. >> How long have you been doing this? >> Um recently. Um I actually just barely started getting actual 40 hours, like uh work weeks. >> Okay. >> And that was literally starting after the manager we had walked out on us. And that's a whole other thing. I thought he was a really good friend of mine, and I found out after he left that he was actually the reason I wasn't getting hours. Um, I only got two shifts a week, two eight-hour shifts. I got um 16 hours a week at the entire time he was there. He gave me a Thursday and a Friday um night audit shift, which was eight hours. I asked for more hours many, many times. He said ownership won't let him. He's tried to put me on the schedule I'm taking off. Um, even um hearing from other employees themselves, they said that um even when they had to call out or requested a day off, they're like, "Well, why don't you just have Alexis do it? She only gets two shifts anyways." And he's like, "No, no, she doesn't want them." >> He was saying that? >> Yeah. The whole time I was begging him. >> Is that when this whole thing started? When you weren't getting the hours? >> I I guess so, yeah. >> Although she admitted what she had done, she tried to justify it by pointing to her financial struggles. She [snorts] still refused to explain how she obtained the victim's credit card information, prompting the officer to continue questioning her. So, how would that work? Walk me through how that would work. >> I I don't know. I don't have an answer for that. >> What do you mean? I I I just I don't understand what you mean you don't have an answer for that. >> I I don't know. >> Would you take a picture of their cards with your phone? Would you write the information down? Would you take it from the computer? >> No. >> So, how would that work? >> Um, I I don't have an answer for it. >> Okay. Let me see if I can rephrase that, then. You said it auto fills on your phone. Which I think we can both agree that it doesn't auto fill unless you manually enter it in there. >> Right. >> Correct? >> Correct. >> Okay. How would you store the information so that it does auto fill on your phone? >> would just It didn't auto fill. >> Okay. So, you manually manually put the information in there. You have to at least one at one point. You have to do something. It doesn't magically appear. Correct? So, you either have to physically enter the information in by pressing the numbers on the phone, right? Or sometimes you can take a photo [snorts] of it and it uploads it automatically, too. Just depends on what program or platform you're using, that kind of thing. So, those are two ways that you were getting that information or that that it was inputted into those devices. What I'm asking is while you were at work, how were you getting the information? >> I I just I don't have an answer. >> You don't have one or you just don't want to? >> I don't want to not at the moment. >> Okay, that's fine. I think >> The woman was charged with grand theft, credit card fraud, and identity theft. A difficult situation may explain a bad decision, but it never excuses exploiting the trust of innocent people. Once integrity is traded for convenience, the consequences often become far more costly than the problem it was meant to solve. Even more notably, the woman broke down in tears after being caught shoplifting at two other stores earlier that same day. >> She does have like a rolling bag and then she admitted to us that she was at Marshalls, stole from Marshalls, and was at Walmart, stole from there. >> Turn around. [laughter] Turn off. On the 10th of April, 2024, police responded to a call from TJ Max after the store's loss prevention team detained a woman for shoplifting. Even more surprisingly, the employees appeared to recognize her immediately. >> Cameras on. >> No problem. Appreciate you guys. >> So, this is the merchandise. This is all of the transaction that she tried to walk out with. >> Okay. >> Merchandise is up in the front still. >> Okay. >> And then, she'll see. >> Everything was recovered? >> Everything from Marshall's recovered. Okay. So, she does have like a rolly bag and I she admitted to us that she was at Marshall's, stole from Marshall's. >> She was and was at Walmart, stole from Walmart. So, it's all that merchandise is still on her. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, here, that's for you. And then, we can walk you guys to the office. >> I just got to grab her bag. She had her own bag. >> Okay. >> The bag she has is still on her, that rolly bag you were talking about? >> Yes, yes. It's in the office. >> And you said it was from Marshall's and Walmart. That was today? >> Yes. >> She admitted to it that she stole it today? >> Yes. >> And she's being brought up for the yes? >> So, for the most part, yes. She's just really, really jittery and nervous cuz she got caught. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've We've seen her here before. That's why we picked her up immediately. >> Did you see her in person or on camera? >> Both. >> Both. Both, yeah. >> We called her on the phone and my guy picked her up on the camera. >> Got it. >> We got to pack up. >> We're going to go this way now? >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Oh, you guys switched the rooms? >> No. >> We were always over here? >> Yeah. >> I thought it was over here. >> No, we were Oh, no, I think it's in my Marshall's department. >> Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> The officer then approached the female suspect. With police now present, her anxiety visibly grew and even her voice became increasingly shaky. >> So, do you have an idea what you're doing or not? >> She's in the office. >> What's your name? >> I'm Alyssa phone. Am I going to >> No, we're not we're not there yet. So, let's just We'll we'll we'll let you know. >> Calm down. Calm down. >> Analisa? >> Okay. >> How do you spell that? >> A N A L I S A. >> And last name? >> O C E L O S. >> And what's your date of birth? >> I don't have my phone on me. >> Okay. Receipt. 4504. Do you have any drugs in your system? Probably on her body. Marshalls and Walmart with the shoplifter today as well. >> Um she has these scissors in her purse. She was using them to cut. >> That's fine. Just leave it. Got it. And uh phone number? >> While officers checked her identity in the system, [music] they also confirmed the total value of the merchandise she had stolen, which determined the level of charges she could face. >> What is the shoplifter? See what I found here. It's all basically beauty products, jewelry, stuff like that. It's 222 and then the tax. So it comes out to 237, right? Whenever it's a shoplifted amount, we never include the sales tax in the final total. So it's going to be this one, 222 and change. >> So this is a 4th degree, right? Because it's over 200. >> So it's above 200, so it's 4th degree. >> Okay. >> And the other property? The other stuff that She said she shoplifted. We're going to be taking that in. >> Okay. >> And I guess we're going to be making phone calls later to Marshalls and Walmart. They probably Maybe they know, maybe they don't know. >> Okay. But actually is that total cumulative or is that separate? >> It's separate. Two all different stores. >> Yeah. Sorry, guys. >> All right. We got to go back in there. >> That's so many people. >> Shortly afterward, the officers were shown surveillance footage documenting each step of her theft while she continued crying as if trying to make herself appear sympathetic. At this point, whether her tears were genuine or not, they clearly were not going to save her from the consequences of her actions. The officers proceeded to place her under arrest. >> [laughter] >> Turn around, please. Turn around. >> [laughter] >> Do you use this? >> No, I don't think so. >> Did she use that at all? >> No, I didn't >> I don't know what you use it for. Can you write? >> No. >> Can you write at all? Is that yours? All right. Uh, search. Female. So, also You just want to concentrate on your life right now. >> [laughter] >> And at least uh, ma'am, do you have anything in your pockets I can search? I don't think so. >> [clears throat] >> Those are hers. Those are hers. Ma'am, what do you have this for? >> [laughter and crying] >> What do you use this for? >> Nothing. >> Nothing? You just have this on you? >> Yes. >> [laughter] >> Ma'am, I'm going to stick on your hip. >> Shortly afterward, officers recovered even more stolen merchandise that she had been carrying with her all along. >> [music] >> As they inventoried the items, she repeatedly begged for sympathy, claiming she stole because of her medical condition. >> What condition do you have? >> I have got to leave. Leave. I don't take medication, bro. >> Okay. What is that? I'm going to put it back in your pocket. >> It's a compulsion that you build It's an addictive compulsion that you build a need to feel. >> Okay. >> I'm extremely addicted. Take my medication, please. >> Okay. That's fair. >> Please. Please. >> Okay. All right, so we have stuff from Marshalls and Walmart and apparently there's another store too. >> Okay. Jersey City. >> I bought that stuff. This is mine. I paid for it. >> Perfect. Thank you. You're the best. >> Don't kill my ego. Don't kill yourself. >> Yeah. >> No more paper no more. >> [laughter] >> Please. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting and possession of burglar tools. She was also charged with shoplifting for the thefts at Marshalls and Walmart, resulting in three separate complaint warrants. [music] No matter what personal struggles someone faces, they do not excuse harming others. When a person repeatedly chooses the same illegal path instead of seeking help, the consequences become increasingly severe and every new offense makes it harder to escape the cycle. [music] Next, this woman even fell straight into a trap that the officers had set. >> When you go through the block off, block off to where they cannot get back in. >> On the 21st of August, 2025, officers received a call from a man reporting that more than 1,200 dollars had been charged to a hotel room on his bank card even though he had not made the transaction. At that point, the officers reviewed the surveillance footage and began to piece together what had happened. >> Basically, the card was used to purchase room 432 and room 440. Up under his name, this guy is not here. He called and knows that the charges are done on his card. And basically, he contacted the hotel to let them know that he's not here and he didn't authorize any charges to be on his room. Uh these are the rooms that they're renting. Uh possibly two people per room. Uh they go over there like I said, he don't We're not sure if they're here or not, you know what I'm saying? So, as soon as I was waiting on these other officers because we can probably go in there and >> Is that his phone number? >> This is the guy here Miller's phone. >> Thomas Miller so that's just >> Mhm. >> Okay. Called here and said that his credit card was just used for two rooms in the hotel. >> Correct. >> Or there was a charge on his card. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> So, I would assume that they're probably here cuz they extended their stay this morning online. So. >> Okay. They did it online. So, they were already here. >> They did a walk-in reservation at first and they extended their stay online. So, it was originally one night. Now, they're staying again tonight. >> So, was the original charge on the same card or was it >> Yep. >> Okay. So, they walked in and had a card when they walked in. Okay. Do you have the information for the guest in that room? >> Uh yes. >> At that point, the officers decided to approach the suspects who were staying at the hotel. However, to ensure everything remained under control, they carefully planned the operation before making their move. >> Yeah. >> What I want to do is about y'all go and check the room and I'mma stand by the other one. So, they should be down from each other. So, if they make some contact and try to run out, they come out to me. >> Man, she dipped. >> She really gone. >> They got the hell on quick. >> They're good. >> They didn't get their belongings or nothing. >> They could see both two police cars right there. >> Uh they just left. >> Mhm. Yeah. >> No one was found in either of the two rooms connected to the case. At that point, the officers changed their strategy with the hotel's cooperation. >> Okay. Nobody's in the rooms. >> Huh? >> No. So, we need those rooms locked off locked off to where they cannot get back in if you >> I guess >> Can you do that remotely or if you need to send somebody up there with a key to change the >> Nope. >> That's static. They can't get back in. We made new keys for the guest. So, >> Okay. >> I just want to make sure that's that's the first step and make [music] sure that nobody has access with the keys that were given to her. >> Later that evening, the suspect returned and just as the officers had planned, she went to the front desk to request a new room key. That was the moment they approached her. >> Hey, excuse me. Hey, can we um talk to you over here, please? >> Um >> Uh we we just trying to figure out some things, too. >> I know. >> We just got to ask you a couple of questions, okay? >> All right. >> All right. So, the reason why we here is they're saying that whatever card or ID you are using is fraudulent. I'm just getting to the point. >> I can get cash and bring that back. >> Bring what back? >> Like money from my room. >> No, um So, do you have the card or whatever you used? >> I had a phone that didn't have tap on it. >> No, where's where's your ID? First First, let's figure out who you are. Who are you? >> I gave them my ID. >> They have your ID? >> Mhm. >> They have it right now? >> I just don't know. >> Where's your ID? >> You don't have there her ID? >> Her identification was given to the officer when they approached her. >> Okay. I don't know what I'm doing right now. >> Just so we can get your ID. We have questions It's just a simple conversation. Thanks. Okay, your name is Jessica James? >> It was clear that the woman was hesitant to provide her personal information to the officers. The officers then confronted her about the hotel reservation and she gave her version of the story. >> Are you booked under a room for your name? Cuz she said they don't have a room with you or your name. >> No, I I used my my >> You used what now? Your sister's what? Okay, where is that? Can we see that? Whatever you presented to them, can we see that? Okay. You got to hold one ones on or no? You got any hold ones on? >> What now? Hold on. >> So So this is your sister? Amanda Gail? >> I just I'm going to I need my drink. >> Huh? >> I'm not the one to speak anymore. >> What's this? >> Yep, this is >> She completely avoided the officers' questions, which only made her behavior seem even more suspicious. She even attempted to walk away moments later, prompting the officers to act quickly. >> Yeah, you're about to, so just stay here. >> I'm not >> Yes. Hold on me. Wait a minute. >> But where are you going, ma'am? You're not free to go. >> It doesn't matter. You're talking to police officer. You're not free to go. >> You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. >> So now I'm just trying to get like the physical copy of the um card and stuff. So basically she's using somebody's account. >> Yes, James. >> Yeah, the victim called like I'm not even at the station. So, >> I just need They're busy. I just need like a picture photo ID or something. >> Okay, we'll go ahead and take you to the station. >> What do you mean you may have things on you? What's in here? Well, I need I need to know. Okay, well, I'll search you. >> The officers also found a straw and illegal drugs inside her bag. In the end, the woman was convicted of financial transaction card fraud, identity fraud, and possession of a controlled substance. No matter how carefully someone plans a fraud, the smallest mistake can be enough to unravel the entire scheme. >> If you're mentally ill, you shouldn't be spitting at people. >> Got you. >> [laughter] >> Is that the house key? >> On the 23rd of March, 2025, officers were dispatched to a Buffalo Wild Wings after receiving reports of a woman causing a disturbance [music] inside the restaurant. To understand exactly what she did, listen to the staff's statements as they describe the shocking incident in detail. >> Yeah, boss man. Good thing you got gloves. She's full of pee, flipping everybody off. >> She's what? >> Cussing. Yeah, she's at the bar. >> She's being nasty now. She peed all over the floor, boss. Like cussing out the manager. >> Okay. Seems yeah. >> What's going on? Bar, she's >> She's what? >> There's a lady at the bar. She seems like she's on drugs or something. She took her pants off in the middle of the bar and peed all over the floor. Um, she's been spitting at people. She's spitting at me. And Yeah, she's Yeah, she's going to be in the blue shirt. But, I'd be very careful. She's pissed herself all over the floor. >> who that is. I don't know her name, though. >> At first, I just thought she pulled her pants down, but I didn't realize she was urinating as I was talking to her. So then I asked her to pull her pants back up and let's go and she's just absolutely refusing. And then I guess she just started spitting at everybody. She spit at her at me. >> No, I was Yeah, she tried to spit at me. >> Do you know her? >> I don't know her name, but I know she's from the theater. She was right here on Elkhart somewhere. >> Immediately afterward, the officers approached the woman who was still sitting in the middle of the nightmare she had created for the restaurant. Without hesitation, they made their decision. >> Hello, ma'am. Can you step up? Step up. Come on. >> Can you stand up? >> Stand up. Careful. You're going to fall in your pee. >> Wipe your pants up. Pull your pants up. Can you step up? Her leg is hurting. Okay. Come on. >> Okay. Come on. Is this yours? Huh? Okay. Come in. Come in. We're going to go over there. >> I'm crazy. >> Do you have your ID on you? >> I'm mentally ill. Have a seat. >> Have a seat in there. >> I'm sorry. I'm mentally ill. >> You're mentally ill? What are you diagnosed with? >> I'm mentally ill. >> Okay, have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Have a seat and then you can swing your feet in. >> Come in. >> I'm mentally ill. >> Okay, get in the car. >> You might believe she was suffering from a mental illness that caused her behavior, but that was only the excuse she relied on. The officers had other evidence suggesting she was fully aware of what she was doing. >> Come in. Take a seat. >> I'm mentally ill. >> Okay, if you're mentally ill, you shouldn't be spitting at people. >> Okay. >> I wasn't spitting at you. >> You weren't spitting at nobody? >> No, I didn't. >> Okay, have a seat. >> Have a seat. Come in. We don't have time. >> I think I've dealt with her before. >> Mhm. >> We've dealt with her before. >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> Have a seat. >> Oh my gosh. >> Samantha, what's your last name? >> Archuleta. >> Archuleta? What's your date of birth? >> I don't remember. >> Yes, you remember. What's your date of birth? >> I don't remember. >> So, you know you have to give us your name [clears throat] and date of birth, right? >> That's concealing identity. What's your date of birth? >> I'm not sure. >> You're not sure? >> No. >> So, you know you're mentally ill, but you don't know your >> I said mentally ill. >> What are you diagnosed with? >> I'm mentally ill. >> What are you diagnosed with? >> I'm mentally ill. >> Do you identify? >> That's not a diagnosis. >> I'm mentally ill. >> That's a statement. >> It doesn't matter. Go away. I'm good. >> Huh? >> I'm mentally ill. I'm mentally ill. >> Did you buy any drinks from the bar? >> I'm mentally ill. I'm mentally ill. It doesn't matter. >> Okay. Well, then I guess you're going to take you're going to go to jail. >> Even more telling, the woman soon began pleading with the officers over her case, raising even more suspicion that she had been pretending to be mentally ill. >> You're not Samantha, you're Sandra. >> Can I go home? >> Well, you're going to get charges for concealing. You don't care? No? Okay. Ready? Step out of the car. Come on, Sandra. >> I'll tell you later. >> I can't hear you. >> We can take the cuffs off once you get out. >> I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm mentally ill. >> Okay. Step out of the car. You're drunk as well. Come on. I'll help you out. Step, step. Okay. We're going to go that way. To your head. Right here. You're going to receive a citation, okay? Just wait. >> Okay, you see that citation? >> Right here. >> Right here. >> Here. >> You have to sign it. >> Come on. >> Can you honestly leave me alone? >> Okay, sign this. Grab the pen. >> If you don't sign it, then you're for sure going to to jail. >> Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Let me tell you where. Right here. >> Where that empty line is. >> Okay, thank you. That's yours. >> Take that. >> If you don't go to court, you have to go to court by 3 days. By Wednesday. If you don't go to court, a warrant's going to be issued for your arrest, okay? I know you're still drunk, that you're not going to remember. Okay. Okay, I want to put your stuff in there. >> The officers were convinced the woman was intoxicated, not suffering from the condition she claimed. They then helped to escort her home, but even then, she never seemed willing to drop the act. >> On the other side. Come on, let's go. >> Come on, you're going to go home. >> We're not going to leave you out here. >> Right here. Come on. >> It hurts so bad. It won't hurt. I really don't want >> [laughter] >> Okay, well, let's get you to the apartment. I really don't want I really don't >> [laughter] >> Okay, you're almost home. You're almost home. >> There you go. Thank you. Thank you so much. >> We're going to wait till you go inside. Make sure you get inside, okay? >> I'm crazy. >> You're not crazy. >> I'm mentally ill. >> Okay. >> Go inside. >> I really don't want I really don't >> [laughter] >> Is that the house key? >> Yes. >> This one is? >> Yeah. >> Okay, step to the side. >> Right here. >> Step over. >> Here you go. >> Thank you. Thank you so much. >> We saved your life. >> Don't forget to go to court. >> I won't. >> Okay. >> You have the paperwork right there. >> On your hand. >> The woman was charged with criminal trespass and concealing identity. A single reckless decision can damage your credibility, and pretending to avoid responsibility often makes the consequences even worse. Next, this woman even tried to shift the blame onto her friend, but her attempt ultimately failed. >> So, I bag the stuff. I do it all the time at my Publix. I've never had an issue. So, that's what I do. That's what >> Please, don't send me to jail. >> Okay, have a seat for now, okay? >> No, please, please, please. I'm so scared. >> On the 10th of June, 2025, officers received a report of a shoplifting incident at a Publix store. The suspects were believed to be two women who attempted to leave the store with [music] merchandise without paying for it. To better understand what happened, the officer first listened to the store employee's account of the incident. >> So, what's going on? >> So, basically, they came in here and started loading up on us like They were loading up on the reusable bags. At the same time, the one friend grabs the cart. It's non-paid for. She paid for a few more things in her cart and grabs the unpaid part of the other cart. But, when I watched her on the video before, she loaded up the reusable bag. They came in here and got the reusable bags off the shelf. We lost the loaf of bread in her bag. Well, she didn't pay for reusable bags. It's $2. Whatever. She started loading that thing up, and she didn't pay for any of Well, she knew we were on her and saw her paying for it slowly, multiple times. But, so she's actually already paid for all of it. And then, she's smart, and she found out we had her on loss prevention. So, the other girl behind her has a paid cart and a non-paid cart. And she's saying it's not her cart. It's her friend's. So, I told her, "Just go get your car." Cuz she said I could leave her car here. I ain't going to get her car. So, she's got her car in there? Yeah, so she's in her car. >> So, right now she has not committed a theft yet. >> Oh, it all made >> Yeah, the cart made it all the way out. >> Okay, so she walked out. >> Yeah, yeah, she walked out. But, the problem is is who's owning that cart because she was walking from the bathroom, this one's cart. And she's saying that's not mine. That's her cart she's supposed to pay for it." But anyway, she pulled it all the way through the register. >> Shortly afterward, the officer approached the suspect. [music] She voluntarily stepped forward and immediately began making excuses as if she was trying to get ahead of the situation before the officer could [music] question her. >> They're not supposed to say anything. I literally thought that she paid for the stuff. And she didn't. And they said something about how I had to step back. I'm autistic. It has to be bagged like that. >> Yes, we already have a statement. >> Okay. Okay. You mean this is theft? I have a right to get my stuff. I really >> What's going on? >> Okay, so I'm autistic. Things have to be bagged a certain way. So, I bagged the stuff. I do it all the time in my apartment. I've never had an issue. So, that's what I do. That's what I was doing. And my friend pulled the cart for me cuz I had to go to the bathroom. >> [music] >> I was arguing with my boyfriend. And when I came out of the bathroom, she was standing across from customer service, and I just walked out of the store. Like, that's what just happened. >> All right. So, you didn't pay for your stuff when >> No, I said that. As soon as he walked up there, I said that. >> You got your ID on you? >> I don't have an ID. >> You don't have an ID? Where are you from? >> I'm from Orange County. I wanted to try and steal. Please don't be mean to me. >> [snorts] >> Okay, I but I won't do it. Can we sit out there because this is kind of embarrassing? >> [music] >> I'm just trying to embarrass her. >> What's that? >> What? >> What was the total over there? >> No, I >> I'm saying >> I understand that. I want 100 How much is it? I have no idea. >> The woman, identified as 33-year-old Cherokee Marie Spalding, tried to place all the blame on her friend. However, when the officer asked for more information about that friend, her answers only made the story seem even more suspicious. >> What's your friend's name? >> Lisa. >> Lisa what? >> I don't know. No, to be honest with you, my mom kicked me out of my house the other night, so I was staying with my cousin and that's who my cousin lives with. >> Where does she live at? >> That way. I can give you the address. >> drive? >> A black car. >> What does she drive? >> No, she's gay. >> So, why don't you call her around? >> No, I haven't seen her. Please stop talking to me so aggressively because I'm not being rude. >> I'm asking you a question cuz I'm trying to find out if she's stealing or >> Okay, I understand that, but I don't even live here. Like, I honestly have no idea who you're talking about. If I did, I would tell you. Like, I really wasn't trying to steal. If you don't want me to ever come back to this store, that's fine. >> That's the story. >> But, I I wasn't being I wasn't trying to do something wrong, though. Hey. Um I just got left at Publix by the girl that I was with and my other bag is in her car and I can't pay for the So, the people think that I was trying to shoplift and I wasn't. So, I'm standing at Publix and it's like $110. But, she has my bag now, so I'm kind of >> Do you find it strange that she was able to call someone else to claim she had done nothing wrong, yet never tried to call the very [music] friend who was involved in the incident? The officer then reviewed the surveillance footage provided by the store, which confirmed her actions. With the evidence making the situation clear, the officer made the decision to take action. >> It's an iPhone charger. Please, just so I can pay for it. Do you have an iPhone charger so I can pay for it? >> Um we'll get there. So, Cherokee, do me a favor. Put your hands behind your back. >> Sorry. Okay, give me a second. Yep, give me a second. And you cannot have in a secure facility. I'm I'm asking a question. Anything on you that you cannot have in a secure facility? Give me a second. Okay. Okay, have a seat for me, okay? Okay, breathe. So, here's the thing. Listen to me. Are you on probation right now? So, listen to me. Hey, calm down. The woman appeared to be playing the victim throughout the incident, but her trembling seemed to come from something else. She was anxious because she was hiding what was inside her purse. The officer confronted her about it. So, you were saying something was in your purse. What's in your purse? What did she give you? A black case. What's in the black case? Two needles. What's in the needles? They empty? They full? They empty? So, listen. There's nothing in there? >> No, it's not even enough to get in trouble. Like that. >> Okay. >> It's not It's not weight or anything like that. I swear to god. >> So, it's just two needles? >> It's two needles in two little baggies. >> What's in the baggies? >> I don't know. She just found them in her car. >> And she gave them to you to carry in your purse? >> I just threw them in my bag. I don't know why. I'm I'm not I'm not okay. I'm not there in my head. I'm not at all. I do really stupid stuff sometimes and I try to make people happy and they tell me what to do and I do it. No, no, no. >> Okay. All right, Jerky. Give me a second. >> Okay. Can you please be gentle? >> I don't know. I don't even know what's in there yet. >> Can you look down? >> Yeah, I can. I'm not just going to take it and not look. >> In the end, the woman was ultimately charged with shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. >> [music] >> After the evidence contradicted every excuse she made, she was taken to jail and her bond was set at $5,500. A lie may buy a few minutes, but evidence can erase it in seconds. [music] When people keep shifting blame instead of accepting responsibility, every new excuse only makes the truth harder to deny. Owning up to a mistake early is always less costly than trying to cover it up. Next, let's move to the bank to observe this unusual woman. >> We got to get some information from her. We can find her. She keeps saying I have $90,000. >> Are you taking a nap in back of my car? Hello. >> On the 1st of April, 2025, police had received a call from a bank reporting that a woman had attempted to write threatening messages on a sign and directed them towards staff at the location. Immediately, police arrived at the scene to determine the reason behind her actions based on her own statement. >> Hey, what's going on, man? >> They got my money and they ain't giving it >> Okay. So, ma'am, if we talk outside? >> No. >> Okay. 26, I'm with her. >> So, what's going on? >> They got my money and they ain't giving it to me. >> Okay. You don't have any ID, do you? >> No, but I just got out the feds three times. >> I'm with her. Okay. So, why are we handing Why are we handing threatening notes to people? >> I want [clears throat] my money. >> It's a very serious crime, though. >> Okay. >> Okay. Do you have any weapons on you? >> No. >> Okay. You mind You mind standing up for me? >> I surely will. >> Okay, keep your hand on me. Put your hands behind your back. Drop the lighter. Okay, well, now you're being detained, okay? You're not free to go. >> Okay. >> Till we investigate further. Can you drop the lighter? Let's go outside real quick. Can you walk a little bit further? So, they said You said they have your money. >> They did. >> Okay. But 26, I have one detained. But you are not willing to prove your identity. >> I did prove mine. >> Okay. They said you didn't. I'm reading Miranda as you would. Let's go walk to my car real quick. And we'll figure this out, okay? >> Police had escorted her outside to ensure she did not disturb other customers, and although the officers had been quite polite with her, she appeared to be struggling to cooperate. >> Do you mind if you wish to talk to us now? >> They got my money and they ain't giving >> I can't hear you, ma'am. >> They got my money >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> They always give me a temporary card and all of a sudden they don't want to give me >> Okay. So, having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us now? >> I I just spoke. >> What was that? >> I just spoke. >> I'm trying to get your side of the story. Is that you Talk to our PC if you have any PC or anything. Speak to our PC if you have any PC or anything. Okay. So, are you willing to talk to us now, ma'am? Can I have your name at least to start with? >> I didn't Ma'am. Can I have your first name? Ma'am. I really want to hear your side of the story and get to the end of get to the bottom of this. I don't know what's going on. Right. We have the RP saying that you're handing them notes threatening them to hand over money or die. That's a very serious accusation or a very serious threat. >> Clearly, the police were trying to resolve the issue she was facing. But, not only did she choose to remain silent, she also engaged in even more astonishing behavior. >> Are you taking a nap in the back of my car? Hello. Yeah, just trespass, ma'am. >> Y'all ain't letting me go. My bank account's there. I'm getting my dough. Give me my money. But, that be known. >> That attitude only suggested that the situation was not serious enough to justify her threatening the staff. Immediately after that, the police returned to the bank to investigate what had happened. >> So, she handed me that note eventually. >> Okay. >> She came trying to withdraw money. She said Crystal her purse was stolen. >> Okay. >> We tried to get some information from her. We couldn't find her. She kept saying my money wasn't then finally she said she got out of the jail today. >> Okay. >> And then we asked her to leave because we can't find any information about her. She said I'm not leaving unless you call the cops to come escort me. >> Okay. >> going to leave. And she kept staying there for hours. >> a while. >> For hours. >> Um >> Then finally she came here. She handed me this note. >> Did you give her any money? >> No, no, no. >> Okay. Did you take this to to a serious threat? >> She kept on like doing the library in front of me. I don't know. I don't know. She doesn't look mentally >> Okay. >> Right? Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Um but at the very least you told her to leave and she didn't leave? >> We asked her to >> Okay. >> We told her that you don't have an account here. >> Okay. Can I air one of you guys willing to provide like a statement just saying that like hey whoever it is like whoever the manager is right now or somebody that that that we asked her to leave and that she didn't leave and >> Yeah, I can do that. >> And are you willing to like assist in prosecuting her for trespassing at the very least? >> She talked to her personally. The manager talked to her personally. >> first. >> Okay. >> Yeah, so I said she said that she lost her wallet or her purse >> Okay. Okay. >> Is that okay? >> No, this >> But she wanted to my bank her card. I couldn't get her a temporary card. >> 46, we have PC for trespassing. >> Yeah, asking to get a debit card, but because she didn't have an ID, so we can't give her a debit card, but we need her cash. We can give her a minimal cash to get, you know, where we need to go. >> Okay. >> So then I took over, came over and said, "Okay, can you write your social security number for me so I can pull you up?" I pulled her up. There's like no open active account for her. [clears throat] >> Okay. >> So, it was clear that the woman had made the situation more complicated and even after the police returned to her, she continued to make things difficult for the officers with her behavior. >> We don't have to make this very complicated. Go ahead, step out of the vehicle for me. Watch your step. Come on. Come on, man. What are we reaching behind there for? Okay. Yep, I think she wants to go to jail today, so if you're able to make it up here, that'd be great. Yep, we're just going to tag her with obstruction as well. All right, bye. >> In the end, the woman was charged with obstruction and trespassing. Escalating a misunderstanding with threats, refusal to cooperate, and disruptive behavior only makes a situation worse and can quickly turn a routine investigation into criminal charges. Next, [music] this employee walked in at the exact moment officers were reviewing the surveillance footage of her. >> The amount there is roughly about 900 and as they said they were going to work on >> 900? Okay. >> On the 9th of January 2025, officers responded to a RaceTrac convenience store after receiving a report that a female employee had been stealing cash from customer transactions. To better understand what happened, they first spoke with the store manager. >> Uh I have an employee that was stealing stuff like that and then my my supervisor she should be here shortly and stuff like that and then I guess they don't want to press charges longer. >> Okay, when are they going to be here? >> I'm going to call right now. She said about 10 to 15 minutes uh she said the amount there is the amount there is roughly about 900 and as they said they were going to work on the case. >> 900? Okay, do they all have this on like paper? >> they said they're going to have it all compiled when she gets here. >> Do you know if it's like cash or is it like >> That I don't know. I was here yesterday she called me cuz I guess she got a call from Palm County and I guess they said she got blacklisted transactions and they did a deep dive to see what was going on and I guess they got her on camera stealing money. >> Okay. Do you know the employee's name? What time is she going to be here? >> She should be here in a little bit, a couple minutes. She said to be here at 1:30. >> And I'm sure like you guys are going to fire her, right? >> Most likely, yeah. She just texted me she said she's going to be a little bit late. All right, so when she's here I'll I'll send her your way. Does that Well, we want to talk to Mandy before you go. >> The officers plan to wait for the suspect to arrive, but it appeared she was running late. In the meantime, they continued speaking with the store supervisor to gather more details about the case. >> So, this girl, she's knocking sales. That's what we call it. So, basically, she's ringing up the transaction, she's voiding the transaction like it never happened, accepting the person's cash, >> Uh-huh. >> opening the register, putting it in there, and later putting it in her pocket. >> And then the customer walks out with the items? >> With the items. >> With the items, okay. So, she'd put it in the register, and then >> Yep. So, you you pay me for $100 worth of stuff, >> Uh-huh. >> I ring it up so you can see the total on the register, and then I void it, >> Uh-huh. >> so there's nothing on the register, and then I just open the register so it'll pop open. I put the 100 in there to finalize the transaction, and I do the math, whatever change I got to give you, I give you the change, and you're gone with your happy day. >> Okay. >> And then later, when nobody's looking, I take the money, cuz that transaction never happened. >> Okay. And you have all this on video and stuff? >> Yep. >> Okay. Um >> So, we have it So, so it gets hit twice. It gets hit with cash, and it also gets hit with product. So, inventory with the like the department of actually >> what you're saying. Because when they let's say they get a drink or whatever, they didn't pay it, but they're still walking out with it. So, you're out the money and the product. I got it. Okay. >> So, loss prevention is already like They've already started the email. I'm really here to have the conversation, file the report with you. >> I'm good. >> Um >> Are y'all going to terminate her or what? I mean, that's on you guys, but >> Yeah, I'm terminating her, but um >> Okay. What time is she supposed to be here? 1:30? All right, she's already late, so that should tell you something. >> Do you know her? >> No, I don't think so. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> Back inside the store, with the assistance of the supervisor and a loss prevention employee, the officer gathered more information about the period during which the woman had allegedly been carrying out the theft. >> When did this start? >> So, she's been with us since November. They got flagged with loss prevention the first week, so this is on the 4th. Um so, what I'm going to provide and loss prevention already has like the copies, too, is like more data of like her shifts that were worked, also like a transaction journal on our side on shows like how many times voids were done. And then pretty much that gets narrowed down cuz some of the voids are real. Like oops, I rung up too many. It's a real. But a lot of them aren't not true. So, if I can >> How long can I get? >> 2 weeks. I don't think a month. >> She's been with you since November of 2024. >> Yes. >> So. >> Okay. Let me just show you the video. So, guest is there, rings up. Can't grab the money. She voids out the transaction. So, oh, it doesn't show there. But here, you see there's nothing on there. There's no >> And then that's where the product usually goes? >> Mhm. And then and then later she puts the money to the side. She's putting the money in her hand and then she's putting the money in her pocket. >> Can you try to get that video to work? I know it's hard, but >> Yes. I just wanted to show you. >> I just wanted like if just see her put it in her pocket. And this is with like lotto two and cigarettes and alcohol and >> Everything that's in So, right now she has lotto and she has cigarettes. So, she collected all the money. >> Correct. >> I'm pretty sure she started with like small, but >> Make a dollar here and there and >> In the last 10 days it's been like $50. So, I think she's been doing it for a while. >> So, if they need to change, she's counting the change out in her head type of thing right now? >> Mhm. >> While reviewing the surveillance footage, the suspect arrived at the store. Just as she clocked in for her shift, the officer unexpectedly approached her. >> It's there. That's when I can take it. Like when nobody's there. >> Yeah, I'm so sorry. I'm so loud. I'm so sorry. Cuz that her? You think my mother hurt me? >> Are you even serious right >> Yeah. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Hold on. Okay, I can really quickly >> Nope. Nope, put that bag down. I don't know what's in the bag. >> I'm sorry. >> All right. 11 Charlie 71 Charlie. Adult female 10-12. Adult female 10-12. Do you know why we're here? >> No. >> Okay. Have a seat. Uh you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court. Do you understand these rights? >> Yes. >> With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me? >> Um I only want to speak to my attorney. >> You want to talk to your attorney? Okay. >> The woman's calm demeanor suggested she already knew what was happening, indirectly acknowledging the situation. After she invoked her right to remain silent, the officers proceeded with the remaining arrest procedures before transporting her to the police station. >> From the first to >> She's done this 900 >> 900 7000, yeah. >> Okay. They're going to email this to me now? >> Yep. >> Perfect. And then just put on behalf of RaceTrac, we do wish to pursue charges. All right. You got your ID back. I gave you the business card. All right. You swear and affirm everything's true and correct to the best of your knowledge? >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. Perfect. Yep. >> Appreciate it. >> Yep. >> Thank you. And then the wind. Can I just ask what she's getting arrested for? >> Grand theft. >> Grand theft? It's on a warrant, is it? >> Nope. >> No. >> Can you um >> He said grand theft. What's the MO? >> Uh tell him to read the report. >> He said read the report. Uh I'm sorry. He said amount. I'm sorry, not MO. >> Yeah, he can find it on the report. I'm not I don't have to give any information out. >> What about the bail amount? Do you know the bond amount off the top of your head, sir? >> 2,500. >> I'm sorry? >> 2,500. >> 2,500. >> I'm sorry it took me so long. I don't know why it took They said Yankee 71. So, I'm like No worries. I said to them and then I was like Where did they say North Volusia? Then I saw that that was you. I was like, "I'm an idiot." >> No worries. >> That. >> What's that? >> My headphones. >> Your headphones? Okay. Turn around and face the car. This deputy's going to search you. >> Oh my gosh, you got everything. Holy smokes. >> No, I'll get the bag. >> Yeah. You want all this stuff in there for right now cuz you Okay. >> Yeah, I'll take care of that stuff. All right. Now I'll just let you >> The woman was charged with grand theft and during the intake process at the county jail, cash fell from the woman's waistband. As a corrections officer picked it up, they discovered a crushed blue pill hidden inside the folded bills, resulting in an additional charge of smuggling contraband into a county detention facility. A single dishonest decision can lead to consequences far beyond the original crime. Trying to hide evidence or deceive investigators often turns one charge into many, making the outcome far more severe. Next, the woman even stole a few Kinder chocolate bars on Halloween. >> She took some around you know, just to go around the store. And she went straight to cosmetics and >> I don't know whose Spider-Man that is, though. Uh she stole some Kinder. >> On the 31st of October, 2025, officers responded to a shoplifting call at a Walgreens. The suspect, a woman, was reported to have walked out of the store past employees with a bag full of unpaid merchandise concealed inside. Officers arrived at the scene shortly afterward and took her into custody. >> We seen her walk out of the store with a black bag and an employee in white was following her for a [music] short period of time. She was behind those trash cans at the side door. >> Hi. >> Did you find her? >> Yes, ma'am. Do you guys want to pursue charges? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Bring back all the stuff she stole and I will add it up so you guys have a total. >> Yes, ma'am. We're going to have an officer come and meet with you inside the store. >> That's fine. >> Okay. >> That's fine. I was just curious if you guys got her or not. >> Yes! >> The employee remains surprisingly calm, as if she already knew the suspect wouldn't get away. Even after the stolen merchandise was recovered, she stayed cheerful, making it seem like this would be a Halloween to remember. >> All righty. >> All right. This is going to be fun. It's a lot of stuff. She's got snackies, too. >> She came in with an empty bag, pretty much. I don't know whose Spider-Man that is, though. Oh, she's got some Kinder. Oh, Jesus Christ, woman. That's everything. >> All right. >> Let's see how much we got here. >> There was a Coast 16 paraphernalia and that her that bag also. Yeah, foil and some straws and [ __ ] >> She had a straw in her hand. >> But yeah, so >> Okay. >> It may even be felony amount as much stuff as she had. >> it is. Can you still scan it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Well, she was like, "That bag not mine." I was like, "It's your property." Cool. >> Wow. >> So, we're just trying to see camera footage >> At this point, officers transported the woman back to the store in a patrol car. She cried throughout the entire ride, but not out of remorse. Instead, she appeared to be trying to make herself look like the victim. >> [laughter] [crying] >> Ma'am, what were you What were you saying, please? Good? >> It's a $49 total amount. It's $759. >> Total amount? $769? The judge may see Saturday, but I don't know if they'll let you out because it's a felony amount. So, you have to just wait and see. Cuz I got to do a lot of paperwork. I mean I It's probably best to just tell them or ask them to watch your baby for the weekend just in case you're in there for a while. I don't know. Well, ma'am, I don't like when people lie to me. You know what I mean? So that's just what it is. >> It was clear the officer recognized she was simply trying to gain sympathy by bringing up concerns about her family. Meanwhile, the surveillance footage told a very different story. It showed that she had stolen the merchandise for herself. >> And then at 20:54 cuz she took some around, you know, just to go around the store. And she went straight to cosmetics and now she started her stuff. She spent like 10 minutes in that area. Just grabbing everything and then just putting into the empty container. Nail polish is the biggest stuff. >> Yeah, she she made an excited utterance. She She don't want to say anything. But she was just like She's like, "Sorry, I didn't mean to lie to you." She's like, "I owe somebody money." She's like, "I owe somebody money." >> Maybe because of the car finally after this and that, you know, I don't know. >> Yeah. >> And then she exited the store. >> And then I read her Miranda and then >> Okay. >> she said that she didn't want to talk. >> At 21:26. >> Cool. Thank you so much. >> You're very welcome. Sorry. >> Yes. So, just a quick rundown of what happened. It was the manager of Walgreens that called in at 2300 Loman for a theft of shoplifting. Described a female black zip-up jacket. >> Turn a little bit. So, they're right facing wall? >> Just follow the car. >> Yeah, they >> The woman was charged with felony shoplifting after the total value of the stolen merchandise exceeded the statutory felony threshold. Trying to gain sympathy cannot erase clear evidence. When surveillance footage and stolen merchandise tell the real story, dishonesty only makes the consequences harder to avoid. Next, what began as a fraudulent vehicle purchase quickly led investigators to uncover a much larger operation. >> They say this information is correct, but from what they can see, that's not Yeah, so the license is a fake. >> The what? >> Someone gave it to me. >> Okay, someone gave it to you? They can't just give it to you with your picture on it. >> On the 9th of February, 2026, officers were dispatched to a Tesla dealership in Miami Gardens after receiving a report that a 19-year-old Asian woman was attempting to purchase a vehicle using a fake driver's license. At the scene, dealership employees explained why they believed the transaction was fraudulent. >> Because you can see the license feels it's not right. And when you start to see the watermarks, it's missing a watermark here. Um we contacted our loss prevention department. They say this information is correct, but from what they can see, that's not Yeah, so the license is a fake. Um they went and they got a cashier's check. I mean, the cashier's check looks legit. I don't know what this company is because she's buying it personally under her, right? But obviously, you can tell we're not going to deliver it, but because it's a fake, they did say for us to contact >> Although the vehicle she was trying to purchase was a Tesla Model X valued at $11,000, officers were skeptical that everything was legitimate. Given the suspicious identification and the circumstances surrounding the transaction, [music] they detained her so they could investigate further. >> Are you from here? >> No. >> No? Are you Are you visiting or what are you doing? >> I'm visiting. >> Yeah? >> Give me a minute. >> Huh? >> She didn't give us this. The cashier's check. >> I don't know if that's something you all >> She gave you all that? >> Yeah. >> She left, she came back and then she left. >> It It was 3,000. >> I don't know what company that is. I don't know if it's >> It is legit, though. >> Uh >> You guys didn't call the bank first? >> No, I thought it was a cashier's check. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Oh, so maybe she was trying to pass that fake ID, but >> I think it's just a fake ID, but everything else might have been legit. She was getting it for somebody, I don't know. >> Oh. >> Because there's There's like a company name on there, >> Uh-huh. >> but the car she was trying to get was in a different name. So, I don't know what the deal is. But, I don't know if you guys want to take that >> But, the check is from her or from the company? >> She can say it's from the company. >> The case had clearly become much more serious with someone almost certainly behind the woman providing her with the fake check and forged documents. At that point, she was still unable to explain where those documents had come from. >> Who's this person? >> Me. >> This is you? Okay. What did you get this driver's license for? >> Uh from government. >> What government? >> They shipped to my home. >> It was shipped to your home? In order to get Have you had a Florida driver's license before? >> No. >> Okay, so you can't just have something shipped to your home. You have to go in person. And you were attempting to do what here? >> I wanted to buy a car. >> You wanted to buy a car? Okay, what type of car were you trying to buy? >> Model X. >> A Model X? Okay, do you have a social security number? No? Where did you pick the check up from? >> Uh from the business account. >> From the business account, but what bank? >> Bank of America. >> Okay, whose business account is it under? Is it your name, somebody else's name? >> Somebody else. >> Okay, who owns the company? >> Um >> So this is under a company's name, like where is this this check they gave you that check to get a Tesla? >> Yes. >> Who Who gave you the check to get a Tesla? >> My friend. >> Your who? >> My friend. >> Your friend, what's your friend's name? >> Um She came to me. >> Do you have a phone number for her? You don't have a phone number for your friend? >> Can I please know what's going >> It was clear that the more the woman answered, the more suspicious the story became. Officers continued questioning her in an effort to verify the information she had provided. >> Why does your Florida driver's license have a different name than these names here? >> Uh that's not mine. >> It's not you? >> That's not mine. >> What's not yours? Well, that's not what Sorry, that was a lie. Taser. Can't have that. You have every right to protect yourself, but when you do that Dang. It's another felony. Well, we have to search your bag cuz we got to make sure there's nothing going in there, any weapons that go into the jail along with drugs, okay? So if you have anything >> In the end, the woman was charged with terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, drug possession, and unlawful possession of a taser. Actions that seem minor can quickly escalate into serious criminal charges. Taking responsibility early and cooperating with law enforcement can prevent a bad situation from becoming much worse. Threats, resistance, and reckless behavior often create consequences far beyond the original offense. Next, this employee tried to play innocent, unaware that everything had already been exposed. >> The woman with $3,000 allowed to leave the store by not properly ringing it. >> On the 1st of August 2023, officers responded to a Burlington Coat Factory after receiving a report that a female cashier had stolen $3,100 worth of merchandise by allowing it to leave the store without payment. When they arrived, the store manager gave a statement explaining what they had uncovered. >> What happened to >> She was always the cashier. Like she was always giving them the stuff for free. >> That is >> You know, the other searches I haven't found anywhere there for Panera. She's just She's at the cashier, so she really admitted to like $3,000 worth of dollar weight. I came up with. So the minimum of $3,000 she allowed to leave the store by not properly ringing it. But I I put it on here. Like I kind of put This is her, so she's responsible for what she's taking, 3 grand. And the other one, from what I can see on the transactions, she's 16 and that before this social walked out. And this one here is like a customer, so she's taking what they're >> That's just their names. >> I just got the at all the other social's names. But that person who had prison yesterday, she was involved in all the transactions. She was involved in all of them. She was the cashier. >> She was the problem, so she was like letting the employee let leave with all those items. >> She would ring some of the stuff up, you know, it looks like it looks like the guy is looking and it looks like everything's getting rung, but then she's sitting the cashier out and it suspends. So it just suspends the transaction, but she still gave them the stuff and they walked out. They never paid for it. >> But on this this here, that's Every one of these are I just taking >> All right. None of that was paid for. >> Okay, that's what I just want to make sure of. >> So that's $1,100. >> I will start at $1,100. >> This is her generic statement. >> Yeah, but it's not sworn to us. >> No, no, no, I didn't >> Officers then approached the suspect. She immediately realized what was happening, and the moment she saw the deputies, she began begging as if it were her last chance to avoid the consequences. >> Possible. >> All right. I'm Deputy Frankie with the Sheriff's Office. For you, unfortunately, there's no choice. You're going today. >> Give me my payment money back, please. I can't go to jail cuz I got my grandma and everything. I can't go to jail. >> You got $3,100? >> If I pay me so I can do something. >> That's That's That's not on my hands. That's on them, but they want Right now they're prosecuting. >> I understand that. I can't go to jail cuz I got my grandma and everything. I can't stay. >> I know. I don't know what I can do. You know, like I said, I go with the corporate >> Who knows? I can't I can't go to jail. I really can't go to jail. I'm a single mom. I can't I can't make payments so I can do a payment plan. Please just off the books. I can't go to jail. >> Right. And I And I did this I know I know what's going on, but I did and they, you know, it's >> Please Can you call them back and talk to them and explain that I can't go to jail >> I will. I will call them back, but I don't you know, I don't know what they're going to do. >> Please please talk to them. I can't go to jail. I can't I can't >> I will. I will call them, but just talk to this guy on the phone. >> to jail. >> Well, first we're going to talk and then we'll go from there. >> first and just >> Um but I I will go step out and talk. And I I said I did >> [clears throat] >> I did tell them all that ahead of time, you know, >> I can make payment plans. >> based on you know, they don't care about that. I understand. >> I was wrong. Please don't take me to jail. >> Okay. >> Please. >> We'll talk to this guy, all right? >> The detective questioned her about the suspended transactions and how the merchandise was taken from the store. Although she answered the questions, she repeatedly tried to avoid giving direct explanations, making her story increasingly confusing. >> Do you want to explain like Like we have one that's on layaway. What What happened? What What happened here? I mean Were you ringing Were you Did you ring it up and saw them walk out and not pay for the product? Is that what's happening? >> Shoot you. >> Okay. And he's going to corporate, so nothing is official yet, but we are going to talk cuz he's up. So, they've got you They say about 31 almost $3,100 in items so far. >> But, I I don't even know half of the people I tell even I wasn't mistaken for some of them, but they're saying that there's the street receipt came out after they put their card in, yeah. And the receipt came out. I didn't know if I suspended or not. Just explain that to him. Some of them people I don't even know. >> Oh, you explained I don't understand what you mean by suspend. That's what I don't understand. What does that mean? So, like this one here has your name right? >> Yes. >> So, this was a transaction for 13 items on the 20th, right? So, and it says status suspended. What does that mean? >> The The The transaction was suspended. >> [snorts] >> If you were the officer, would you believe her explanation? The detective then confronted her with evidence showing that she had been acting deliberately and was fully aware of what she was doing. >> No, it just was I just canceled the whole transaction. >> All right, so you canceled You suspended that transaction, right? So, your your end of day count is not looking for that money cuz that transaction was suspended, correct? So, we have a total of uh It's like it's like $103. So, did you allow the product to leave the store? >> Yes. >> And did you know that this that the that the Is that something you >> He still No. >> Cuz it's Well, this is something Well, it says to >> Excuse me. One person used the card. She put her card in, but the receipt still came out. He said, "I put suspended." So, the receipt still came out. So, he's saying I suspended it and the items didn't leave the store. >> Okay, [snorts] so the the the transaction was suspended. You knew it was suspended. >> And >> not do so. It's another one that I knew was suspended. >> Okay, so regardless, how does it go into suspended? Is it because a payment wasn't accepted or there was no payment or is it something you have to do? >> You can press F2 F. You can press any number on there and yes, it's suspended. >> Okay, so that's that's happened and so you knew that this transaction was suspended for whatever reason and you allowed the product to leave. I'm sorry? >> Not on all of them because the receipt will come out. If they put their phone right there, it's the it won't tell me if you won't pay. It's just a receipt will come out. >> Okay, but it doesn't always have suspended. I mean, every one of these receipts has suspended on them. >> That's what the system said. >> Okay, well I also have one here, I'm looking for it, that was a layaway that they came back in the next day, that layaway was then canceled and then the product still left the store. >> Yes. >> By this point, [music] with everything exposed, she was no longer crying or begging as she had at the beginning, showing that her attempt to appear innocent had completely fallen apart. The detective then explained the charges and legal consequences she was likely to face. >> So, if that's something that they allowed to happen, again, I have no control. Then it's something that you need to uh stay stay with because there's enough here. I mean, you there's a thousand dollars. It's you could almost be charged with uh um a scheme to defraud. If you're working with other people to defraud Burlington, that's another charge on top of it. It's not just a theft of three grand cuz you didn't keep the product. You don't have it. You allowed it to walk out. So, there's a charge on the books that's called a scheme to defraud, which is you're facilitating it and other people are benefiting from it cuz you're not benefiting. You didn't get any of the product. It's not like it's sitting in the car waiting for you to get out. Unless you all are taking it and reselling it on the outside. >> I I get it. Listen, times are tough, right? I I I get it. Trust me. I I I understand that, but you also have to understand too that you know, you're not talking a couple hundred, $3,000. You've been here since March. >> Yeah. >> Yep, so I thought. >> Yeah, no problem. Thank you. >> Okay. All right. Well, we're going to have to We're going to have I am going to be cordial and I'm going to respect you. We're going to get everything we need from him. We're going to walk you out like a like normal. If you give us any indication that you're not going to cooperate, you're going in cuffs. You're going to go in cuffs at one point. But instead of what they call perp walking you through the store and embarrassing you in front of all these people, we can do it cordially and do it outside cuz this isn't going to be you get released here. You're You have to go. You're going to go to county. >> She was charged with felony grand theft and [music] was warned she could also face a scheme to defraud charge for facilitating the thefts. Retail fraud leaves a digital trail. Every action at the register can become evidence, and once the truth is exposed, excuses cannot erase deliberate choices. Next, this woman thought she could outsmart the cameras just to steal a toilet seat. >> Items that were stolen from Home Depot in Flatbush. You gave it all back? >> I gave it back. >> Okay. Just a few minutes later, she left with a new toilet seat concealed beneath the old one. When her scheme was spotted by a loss prevention officer, she quickly walked away as if nothing had happened. Using the license plate provided by store staff, deputies were soon able to locate the vehicle connected to the suspect. >> Hello. What I'm saying I did that. I I take full responsibility. >> Where is he at? Doesn't matter. He's getting arrested. Where is he at? >> I So I take full responsibility. >> responsibility for somebody else driving. That's not how that works. >> I'll take full responsibility for that. >> Okay.
