over your way. >> I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I got >> I know you're on your side. Relax. >> During a police shift, you could never predict what would happen next. From a vehicle pursuit to stolen money and clothes. And the moment officers arrived, someone was likely going to jail. But this video did not only have that. >> STOP. >> Get back. Get back. These are the moments officers chase down shoplifterss beyond imagination. We are This is Law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. >> Starting with a woman whose arrogance collapsed once her scheme was exposed. >> I pay for my Are you kidding me? >> Hey, don't play games. >> I'm not. >> Just some little stuff that I shouldn't have even that was stupid to do. >> On the 17th of January 2025, officers responded to a Walmart after the store reported detaining a suspected shoplifter. But the moment they approached her, she aggressively denied everything with an irritated attitude, acting as if she had done absolutely nothing wrong. >> So, right now, you're beyond the rest of retail. >> I pay for everything. >> You do? >> We're going to follow them. Okay. >> I I had to pay for my Are you kidding me? >> Hey, don't play games. >> I'm not. >> Okay. So, we're going to follow them to the asset protection office. Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. We can >> um Can I get at least get this paperwork so we can take my truck? >> Worry about that here in a minute. Okay. >> Okay. So, hold it then or how does this work? >> Did you pay for that yet? >> I'm trying. I'm getting it. My card's locked. I can't get it unlocked. So, my friend's taking care of it. >> Leave it. We'll We'll take care of this. >> All right. Perfect. >> I'll see you in a minute, I guess. >> Yeah. >> Why is he coming to >> Hey, don't worry about it. Don't be mauy. >> Oh, I'm more than that cuz I have receipts for everything. >> That's perfectly fine. Okay. >> I don't mind expired. I got one on here. >> It's okay. >> You got your receipt for the transaction. >> Which one? I did a couple. >> I have several. >> You also need the receipt you grabbed off of the register you walked. >> Oh, that's fine. I just grab grabbed that for fetch cuz I use a fetch point. One second. >> The woman seemed fully confident she was innocent, but she had no idea employees had already exposed her scheme. She still held receipts trying to prove she paid for everything. >> These this is not belong here. This is >> We were just paying for the dog food, the oil change, the candles, >> and then there was other stuff. This is the family stalker for eight months. Oh, >> three of those actually. And there's three. >> This is what was packaged. >> Very obviously. >> Yeah, I'll admit that. >> That's called stealing. So, you can say I didn't feel all you want, but >> Okay. No, I didn't. One, I wasn't going to say that I didn't do that, but he had no part of it. He didn't even know what was going on. >> He was with you the entire time. >> No, he wasn't. That last half, you can watch. He walked back to the entire back to Ma'am. Ma'am, what's your first name? Abby Malo. >> Abby, please stand up and come over here, please. >> Okay, put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. >> But really, he had nothing. She had no idea. I promise. >> It was true that she paid, but she paid using switched price tags. Her arrogant attitude quickly turned into embarrassment. Yet, she still found ways to make excuses instead of fully admitting fault. >> Oh, that one I honestly totally never forget. Sorry. >> I got this. All right. >> You got 11 out of 14. >> Okay. I'm sorry. I apologize. I really didn't. I scanned my brush. I scanned those. >> Is that your Dodge truck out there, sir? Yeah, it's fine. >> Okay. I just I'll make sure. I just bought it. >> Yes, we just got it literally a day ago. Actually, I know it was delivered today. It was last night. >> We're not going to be able to get the place till tomorrow. >> Why are we tax switching today? >> I'm not paying for everything. >> I honestly some of this I really did forget. I really didn't mean to take. I will be 100%. The tax switch I honestly did do. >> Okay. >> And I'm sorry for it, but I >> Do we have the money to pay for everything? >> Yeah, I can take care of it. I was trying to pay for it whenever you told me to worry later. >> No, I know that the rest of that stuff, but the other I do. I can pay for it. If you'd like me to pay for it, I'll pay for it right now. >> I was just I'm just curious. Um we have you have cash or credit cards? >> I have my card. >> Well, Nate has my cards. >> Yep. Okay. Um so, but why tag switch? Is it a fix? Is it >> It was honestly it was I wanted to get a couple of things I needed. I shouldn't have. >> I was wrong anyway. >> What were you tag switching? just some little stuff that I shouldn't have even >> that was stupid to do 110%. >> It turned out there was no real remorse or guilt at all. She immediately leaned on the fact that she had paid for some items, using it as an excuse to reduce responsibility for what she did. >> Before you try to say I was doing a felony amount, can you please double check back there with what they were eating? >> Thank you. No, I'm just saying you charge me to the phone. Like it was back. There was stuff being scanned back there cuz that was $156. I had a hund of it paid already and then the stuff got stopped. The perfume and stuff in there is my Bath and Body Works. That was truly not a mistake. I meant to pay for that one. >> But that was truly a like I didn't mean to. >> That's >> I meant to pay for it. >> Truly. >> I got a system. Um, >> I taxed. I paid for some of it, right? >> They're only going to charge you for the things you did not pay for and the things you taxed. >> Okay. Thank you. That's what they need to know. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I appreciate it. >> Have you ever been convicted of a retail theft before? >> Um, I was putting those back and I bought a second of those receivers. >> Have you ever been convicted of a retail theft before? >> No. >> Wait, my job tried to say that I took 20 out of No, cuz they told me for my own money. So yeah, and I was put in Williamson with my own money, >> not arrest. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft and tag switching. Paying for part of the items did not change the fact that she still chose to manipulate prices and steal, and making excuses afterward only exposed how little accountability she truly had. Even worse, this shoplifter managed to rack up 17 more charges in just 45 minutes. >> Give me money in your drawer. Give me money in your drawer. >> No. Give me money in your door now. >> No. Stand up. >> Stand up. >> On the 13th of January 2023, police received urgent reports about a female suspect who had carried out a shocking non-stop crime spree. According to reports, she began the chaos by carjacking a vehicle at a car wash while threatening victims with a taser, then smashed through the barrier gate and fled to a nearby Family Dollar store where she stole clothing. Even worse, she later stormed into a stuff shop and once again used the taser to threaten employees while demanding money from the register. This was what happened at the time. >> Honey, give me money in your drawer. >> No. Give me money in your door now. >> No. >> Get the Get the out of here. Call 911 now. Back the up. Back the up. 911. >> Right after receiving the reports, police launched a pursuit of the woman, but they quickly realized it was only the beginning of even more reckless traffic crimes. >> I'm going to go ahead and have a pursuit here. >> Hold the air. Okay. Uh, I got a northbound wads through fifth. Whoever gets behind me, take over. >> All right, you guys are getting into the skull area. Let's call that off. Got an update. Mark, >> get out of the way. Come on. >> 61. I'm at second one. >> Just taking off. Southbound lost. Going to go ahead and have a pursuit here. >> South. >> Let me see your hands. Hands. Let me see your hands. >> GET OUT THE HANDS OFF. GET YOUR HANDS [screaming] OFF. Keep them up. Let me see your hands. HANDS UP. [screaming] HANDS UP. >> Get out [screaming] of the hands off. Get your hands up. >> I'm with you. [screaming] I'm with you. I'm with you. >> Who else is in the car with you? >> I see no one. I see no one. >> Her escape speeds reportedly reached nearly 97 mph, and she was even willing to ram police vehicles just to get away. In total, she was believed to have committed 17 crimes in only 45 minutes. At that point, officers were still struggling to bring the situation under control. >> Yeah, I know. >> Turn it on. >> I'm working on it. Hold her. >> I got her hand. I got her hand. I got her hand. >> Taser. Taser. Taser. Taser. >> Do you see me standing here? >> Stop the car. >> STOP THE CAR. WORKING ON IT. WORKING on it. >> Go. Park. It's in park. Hey, >> custody. >> What are you doing? >> Are you kidding me? >> Let's get her up. >> Just check. Check out real quick. I got breathe. I got >> roll your way. You want me? I got to breathe. I got to breathe. I got >> I know you're on your side. Relax. >> Just breathe. >> You have any other weapons on you? >> No, I know. >> Just breathe. >> All right. Roll her the wrong way. >> Such a wrist cuz she's ding. >> I got her. Got her. >> Roll over. Roll over. >> Nothing. >> All right. Send her up and move her. If you put yourself in her position, there was no way someone could commit a second or third crime, let alone 17, without completely losing any sense of guilt. So, even after being arrested, she only cared about herself and tried to act like the victim. Patrol. >> Have a seat. But first, have a seat. >> Linda. >> Sorry. >> Linda. >> How do you spell it? >> India. Okay, >> we got over here and I saw this uh the red car is coming and it's kind of stopped because then we realize it's dead. >> Okay, we got the paramedics coming out. Okay, Linda, do you use any other names? No. >> Okay, cuz we're not going to just like add another charge right with lying about your name. Yes or no? >> Okay, watch your head. I'm going to close this door. >> The first car, the policeman hit the Manta and this guy make made right turn towards the fence. Okay. >> And then the second move this way hit him on the front really fast. >> Okay. >> While the victims described the chaos they went through, 32-year-old Cassandra showed a completely careless and irresponsible attitude toward everything that had happened. >> Wake up, Linda. >> Wake up. >> I know it burns, so let go. Look up at me. >> And one lady was like, "Get out of my car." And she was like trying to hit her. So I jumped out. out. I'm like, "Are you okay?" She's like, "No, she's trying to get my car." And I'm like, "What?" So, I ripped open the door and the other lady um had maze. She was trying to spray the lady in the car trying to steal her car. >> Look up at me. Let me look at me, Linda. >> There you go. Look this way, please. >> Come on. I need you to step out. >> Swing your leg out here, Linda. Swing your leg out. >> Yep. Come on. Swing your other one out. >> Come on. >> Step up. Please step up. >> Thank you. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. I'm breathing. >> Stay right there. >> So, she started chasing me and I was running around my car. My door was open. So, she jumped in my car and I went to pull the door back open. She tried to tase me and miss. >> Then she hauled out, stood here, took off, knocked the knock the gate off. >> Now, when you say it's definitely a taser, what does that mean? >> And it was it you could hear the sound. It's like a handheld TV. >> So, she was deploying it. >> Yes, she was. >> Okay. >> Vanessa, can you see her? Do you identify? >> Cassandra was ultimately charged with multiple felony offenses, including robbery, menacing with a weapon, vehicle theft, and assault on law enforcement officers. [music] The moment someone stops feeling guilt for their actions, every bad decision afterward only pushes them deeper into destruction. Next, this woman even believed she could lie her way past the entire system. >> What happened? >> Well, they they gave provided us your name. >> I never spoke to level one inspection. >> What was the charge that you're on probation for? >> For I think taking >> On the 1st of July 2025, officers approached a woman in Target's parking lot after receiving reports of a shoplifting incident involving her. But when the accusations were brought up directly, the woman remained unusually calm, almost as if she had already prepared an excuse for everything. >> I'm here because Target called and said you stole something. >> I'll go take it back. >> Well, I don't know if they're going to >> Well, you obviously know you said something if you said I'll take it back. >> Should we just >> Well, just wait here. Here. We'll see what Target wants to do. What I mean, >> I'll just go. >> Well, just wait. What did you take? I don't want to cause a scene in silage. >> See if they can come out here and we can figure it out. Like maybe you opened up some OC spray or pepper spray or something. They said >> you opened up pepper spray. >> Yeah. >> Cuz I thought they know your name already cuz you've been here before stealing from something. >> No, I haven't. >> Well, they they gave provided us your name. >> I never stole from level one inspection in my life. Okay. I'm just telling you what our notes say on the call. So, is this your daughter or who's this? Okay. So, you opened up pepper spray. What else did you steal? >> And she didn't scan this. >> Do you have an idea on? >> No, I don't. >> You've never been arrested before or anything? Have you? >> I'm going to find out. So, I mean, we we can like be done here in a minute and write you a ticket or we can make it a big deal. Like, we're not trying to do that. If we can write you a ticket and be done, we'll be done. >> But I mean, like I said, I I don't know what Target wants to do. They called, "If you could have paid for it, you should have paid for it before you came outside, right?" >> I can't write. >> No. What's your last name? Okay. >> In reality, she pretended to act innocent after hearing the accusations against her because she had no proof to deny them. Meanwhile, employees inside the store already had their own story. >> All right. Right there waiting for you. I'm like, what are we doing? >> I don't know if I'm like allowed to go out there cuz you're not buying. >> What? So, she said she didn't pay for a red skirt and she took a pepper spray >> and that tote bag that's in there. >> Whatever. Do you want to get whatever you want to get? And then has she been here before? >> Yep. She's been here before. She's she goes to um she's been up for a lot of >> Okay. So you guys have you been arrested from here before? >> So she has been arrested at our store before? >> Not at our store. She was here. >> If you remembered, she originally denied the theft allegations completely, but now her story started changing when she suddenly admitted something had happened while trying to twist the situation in a different direction. >> I'm sorry. I could pay for it. I really can't. >> But what about like all the other times you got caught? She said you got caught in Shamberg in December for stealing from Target. Yeah, that was a totally misundersto you have your warrant right now. >> They're saying it's valid from Cook County, not Kane. >> No, no, I have my probation tomorrow. Look, I'll tell you. I have Tell me what the computer says. I'll show you. I'll show >> I get that, ma'am. All I can go off of is what I'm on probation. Look, probation. >> For what? What are you on probation for? >> For retail thefts, for batteries. What are you on? What are you on probation for? >> It's from a long time ago. >> I get that. I just >> What are they That'll just put you on probation for nothing. What are you on probation for? >> I missed abuse. >> Okay. What was the charge that you're on probation for? >> For I think they >> for retail thefts. Okay. >> And but I have probation. He call I can call him right now. We f I talked to the judge. I'm coming in and I'm paying the $40 to quash it and then they're going to see me and I'm going to do my drug test and do everything. Do you know like if you would have just paid for all this, none of this would have happened today? But you I mean it sounds like you might have a problem, right? Like you keep doing this. So I don't >> You're on probation for retail thefts. You got trespassed in se in December from another one and you like stole from here before? >> No. Yeah, I've never been at everywhere. >> Like they have your picture everywhere. They know who you are. >> Just stop. You have attitude with my with our security officers. >> No, I I never have attitude with [clears throat] them ever. >> So, it seemed the suspect could no longer hide the secrets she tried to cover up. And at that point, officers began explaining the entire situation to the family member who was with her. >> So, she has a Cook County warrant and a King County warrant. The King County warrant looks like it was quashed, but not the Cook County warrant. So, she'll have to go with us. We'll see if there's a bond amount. They might even say like just release her with a new portate. I don't know when the case is from, >> but we're going to take her and charge her with all the stuff she stole today cuz it's not like it's her first time. >> Wait, you need all my stuff? >> Everything you stole today is what we need. She knows what you stole. So, this bag, too. >> We'll just take the cart and then review everything. I need the milk, though. >> Yeah, we know. >> What do you have receipts for before we have to do this four or five times? >> This is I just want to make sure you haven't been honest with me today so far. So, I mean, I don't know. There's this dove stuff. Is this stuff that was stolen, too? >> No, I had >> I'm just asking. I don't know. >> I mean, if they scan this and it comes here, like, what about this Soulce Janeiro stuff? That doesn't look like it's been opened. >> That's from That's not from >> I'm just I mean, this is what happens. >> Open. You could open it. It's open. Looks >> okay. The woman was charged with retail theft, possession of stolen merchandise. The moment you keep repeating the same crime while believing you can talk your way out of it, every excuse eventually stops working. One bad decision may be a mistake, but repeating it again and again only pushes the consequences closer. Even worse, this teenage girl was also accused of stealing money from her own nana. >> Get back. Get back. white, 115 lb, blonde hair. I don't want to go to jail. >> On the 26th of August, 2025, deputies received an emergency call from an elderly woman reporting that her outofcrol granddaughter had attacked her and thrown objects throughout the house alongside her boyfriend. Even more shocking, once deputies arrived, the woman acted unbelievably innocent. >> I'm leaving peacefully. >> You're not leaving yet. Go over there. >> We're moving. >> Go over there. >> We're moving. >> Go over there. I'm not going to tell you again. >> I have all of my stuff. >> That's fine. Set it down. >> I'm leaving. Peace. >> No, you don't. You're not leaving yet. >> I'm leaving. Please. >> Come up here by the porch. >> I'm leaving. Please. >> Sit down. >> No. >> No. I don't want you in the car. >> Okay. Okay. I'm sorry. >> Get back. Get back. >> Two 71 semi 94 party. Sit down. >> Okay. I will sit down. Sorry. I was >> Sit down. >> You okay? >> Sit down. >> No, you slam me on the >> Yeah, you don't charge me like that. >> I'm sorry. I thought you wanted me to go in my car. >> I told you not to go in the car. >> I'm sorry. I was 15. >> I was pulling my drawers out was so I could take >> I don't care what you're doing. You charged me. >> I mean, stop moving your hands. >> Do you need EMS, Skye? >> I mean, you busted up my lip. >> I didn't bust your lip. >> Babe, you're already >> You already have that on your lip. That's all dry. >> Come sit over here. >> Please, sir. I'm >> sit down. I'm not going to tell you again. >> Sir, I'm 100 I'm 15. >> I don't care. You're not going to do what you want. You're going to do what I want. >> If you were the officer, you would have been forced to handcuff both of them because there was no way to predict their actions while trying to control them at the same time. Even worse, the female suspect immediately started using the situation to portray herself as the victim. >> Sit down. You're not going to play by your rules. You're playing by my rules. But may I ask why you threw me like that? >> Cuz you charged me and I told you to get back. >> We're leaving. >> I'm here now. You're not going anywhere. >> Going here. So something with her and the grandma. Tell her to go sit down. She doesn't want to sit down. He wants to go get in the car. I tell him not to get in the car. So I go to detain him cuz he doesn't want to listen. She charges me >> and I pretty much just arise cuz last time I spoke and you told me to sit in the car. Could you like loosen up my >> No, you just sit there and listen. What's your first name? >> Luke. >> I was pulling my drawers out. Out out so I can get all my stuff in my drawers. It wasn't hostile whatsoever. My nana my nana is just not like >> Hold on a minute. Ma'am. Ma'am, listen. Listen. Take a couple deep breaths for me. Okay. Do you live here with your nana? you like >> on my on my mail on my mail address? >> Yes. >> So, the woman admitted that she had been living with her grandmother. Right after that, she gave her own version of what happened, but it appeared completely different from the story her grandmother had told earlier. >> You know what? I I've been dealing with y'all since I was 13. I'm not even going to ask to loosen these damn cups. >> Listen to me. >> My nana asked me to take out the I have text if if if I could get my phone. I don't want to go to jail. Look at me. I am white, 150 lb, blonde hair. I don't want to go to jail. So, I called 911 to ask the ramifications. >> Sorry, these hurt so bad. I hit my head that >> Do you need EMS? >> Um, >> if you want EMS, I'll call EMS to check you out. >> I was just trying to leave and You aren't. You charged me. >> Do you see anything that happened between her and her grandmother? >> Uh, okay. She was grabbing >> she was grabbing her like childhood pictures and then she accidentally knocked over like a vase or something. >> She was on the phone with the bank and she she she's very bipolar. >> Okay. >> And she has an issue where she sits behind closed door clos. I think that my nana just thought that maybe I was taking things with an attitude. >> Okay, she called the cops >> and she was holding wine glasses and and this this will make sense. >> I'm a server. >> Okay. >> And I didn't want to break her great grandmother's wine glasses cuz I was just trying to help. >> Okay. So, did did anybody hit anybody here? >> No. >> Okay. No one slapped anybody, threw things at anybody, threaten anybody? >> No. The only person who really got hit was me by an officer. >> She insisted she never hit anyone and even claimed she was the one who called the police, making her story even harder to believe. Worse, her statement soon changed into admitting physical contact had happened. >> I shimmy threw this way and I think I I I hit her a certain like like my shoulder or something, >> but she never fell. >> Why would she tell me she fell? Why would she tell me you pushed her? >> I didn't I don't know, but I can I I literally I swear to God if there are cameras up, I can I was just trying to help her clean dishes. >> Okay. Well, right now you're going to be going to jail for domestic battery on a person over the age of 65, which is a felony. Okay. So, go ahead and stand up. Show me 1051. >> Baby, what's that? >> They're arresting me. Felony charge. >> What? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Stay there. >> Stay down. >> Why are you being so rough with me? >> I'm not being rough with you. I'm just putting you where you need to be. >> In the back, you know, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> That's a depressing. >> I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm not >> How many times have I to tell you? Sit right there. >> Where is she? Where is she? >> She's fine. She's fine. >> So, you can call your mom to come get you cuz you're not okay to drive. So, whatever you guys are doing, drinking, smoking, pills, I don't know what it is, but you're under the influence of something. Call your mom and have your mom come get you. You're >> No, no, no. But we're right where is she at? Where is she? >> She's going to jail. >> For how long? For how long? >> She has to see a judge. It's domestic related. >> No, no, no, no, no. But like all morning she talk to her judge. >> Right after that, EMS was called to the scene and her attempt to play the victim became completely obvious. >> What's hurting you right now? >> Put it back. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Does it hurt at all back there? Baby, wait. Wait. Okay. Can I >> stay over there? >> I love you so much. I'll wait for you. >> POST MY BAIL. >> There's no bail. I'm fine. >> There's no bail. You'll see a judge in the morning. >> Baby, I love you. You want to have the handcuffs? No. No. No. No. I'm not. >> Just start listening. >> Baby, it's okay. >> Let's go. Step back in here. >> Ouch. >> That's all you. I'm just holding your hands. Where is she going? >> She's coming here. Who's coming to pick you up? Your parents. >> No, no, no. I just fire. >> So, I grab him to detain him and she charges me from the front. >> I just like stiff armed clotheslined her all at once. >> Sounds like she was out of control when you got here. >> All right, this female deputy is going to search you. Step out. Spread your feet. You're going to be okay. >> Nah, dude. Nah, dude. >> You're going to be all right. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Ah, >> I got a lot of paperwork to do. >> She was ultimately charged with battery on a person over 65 years old. [music] The moment you lose control of your emotions and start turning yourself into the victim instead of taking responsibility, the situation will only spiral into consequences you never expected. Next, the man dragged himself into a path of crime. Grab it like that. >> Then slide in. >> If I was out these cuffs, I would have beat your ass. >> On the 27th of April, 2025, officers were dispatched to the fitting room area of a Nike store after reports claimed [music] a retail theft suspect was hiding inside. This was what unfolded afterward. Police department, you got to finish up. Oh, no. Not you, sir. You're good. >> How we doing? [clears throat] >> Good. >> Good. >> Hey, sir. You're not free to go yet. Come here, >> ma'am. Step out now. >> About to vlog out the front. >> What I do? >> Huh? >> What I do? >> Uh, you guys are stealing, right? >> Not me. Y'all wasn't. >> Okay. We're going out there. >> What? retail stuff. >> I didn't touch the camera. >> You're with You're with her, right? >> I never Okay. >> So, how' you >> But you're with them, right? >> No, I've never, bro. Ask >> We're the man that who pulled the car behind. Ask him. >> I'm going to talk to Artasia. >> That's what I said. Ask him. >> No, no, no. Don't ask Artasia. Ask the police who who who watch him get out the car and all that. I never was I never went to no store. None of that. >> Perfect. We'll just confirm that. If it's all good, then we'll let you go. All right. >> Come on. Well, let's go walk over there. >> Well, I'm put you in cuffs first. So, >> for what? >> I said you're detained, right? >> Oh my god. >> If you were this suspect, your hesitant answers and constant claims that there was no proof only made you look even more suspicious. At that point, officers began collecting the suspect's information for further investigation. >> I I ain't going to lie, though. >> I wasn't like I would have had something. >> All right, sir. Well, how you >> E R R E N C E >> Shoemaker. S >> H A U Maker. >> M A C >> Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. >> M A C K E R. >> Yeah. >> Do you have a middle name? >> No. >> She did birth. >> 042905. >> 04 >> 2905. >> Yeah, we're awesome. If you just want to come to the front. Uh have you ever had an ID card? >> No. I >> Have you ever had an ID card? >> Yeah. In Milwaukee. >> Milwaukee. Okay. So Teran shoe maker 429 of05 no milk. >> I can't believe y'all just grab Yeah. Y'all just grabbed me up like that like I did. I didn't do anything. >> Yeah. Well, you're with somebody who just committed retail theft. >> I didn't know that. I was in the car. He just told you in the car. >> And we don't know that either. We're just trying to figure out who's who. What's going on? So as long as you come back on file and they ain't got nothing on you, well then you can go on about your day. >> How old are you? >> How old I look? >> Okay. >> 19. >> All right. So you can drive? Yes, I do. >> Okay. Well, we're just trying to figure out what we're going to do with that. >> The man clearly showed that he was not taking the investigation seriously at all. In reality, he knew he had been with people involved in the crime, yet he still acted completely dismissive toward everything the officers said. >> You're with two people that just committed crimes. >> I understand that. >> So, you're with them, right? Have you ever heard part party two party to a crime? >> Basically, I understand that. But what I'm saying is only if only if y'all seen me go physically walk in the store, grab stuff, >> right? And that's why I said you're being detained, right? >> Right. If I But if I if y'all seen me do that, which y'all wise or or the people see me do that, then yeah, it'd be understandable. Let's just get him identified as a player. >> You said Milwaukee, right? >> Yeah. >> All right. So, if you lie, that's a charge. >> Right. Hello. >> Yeah. >> The man's name did not appear in any system at all, which led officers to suspect that he had provided a false identity. As a result, they began asking for alternative details to verify who he really was. >> You got what's got Facebook? Anything else with your name on it? >> Bro, I don't First of all, look, let me tell you something. I didn't do nothing wrong. I don't do nothing, >> right? MY BIG STOP TOUCHING ME LIKE y'all stupid boy ass. >> If you look closely, the man deliberately created distance between himself and the officers, seemingly to set up an opportunity to escape. However, his plan quickly unraveled as the situation escalated into chaos. Even so, he appeared completely unconcerned, continuing to resist and obstruct the investigation. Can I pick my big mom phone up? Slide in. >> Slide in, bro. Grab you like that. Then slide in. Cuz if I was out these cuts, I would have beat your ass. >> Oh, bro. Stop touching me >> in the car. >> Yo, bro. I need CMS. >> Yeah, you're going to move your legs. >> Move your cut. The man was found guilty of obstruction of justice and resisting arrest after repeatedly providing false information. The man avoided accountability by lying about his identity and resisting officers during the investigation, but his actions ultimately led to charges of obstruction of justice and resisting arrest as his repeated non-ooperation escalated the situation into a physical arrest. Next, this woman even refused her own chance to walk away. Stand back. >> Stand back. >> Why are you holding her? >> No, cuz I'm already going to jail for no reason. >> Put the handcuffs on me. Is it? >> On the 16th of August, 2024, the police approached a woman due to suspicion related to theft. It seemed everything was extremely simple, but this woman quickly made everything become tense. >> Right now, I'm investigating theft. So, you required ID. >> You're investigating what? >> A theft. You refuse to vacate. >> Vacate where? Except for the room. So, they're going to assess for damages. So, I'm going to need your ID. You don't have a choice. >> Okay. Period. I don't care. I'm on body camera. I don't care. walk over here. >> That's cool. >> Acting like she knew her rights and had money, the woman believes she was untouchable. Meanwhile, the hotel already decided to drop the theft accusation and handle it differently instead. >> See? [laughter] >> Yeah, we got her. >> You got her now? >> Yeah. What do you want with her? >> We just want her trespass. >> Okay. So, no theft. >> Okay. >> Can somebody come tell her she's uh trespass? Cuz she's getting a little she getting a little hot. >> What? Her attitude clearly eased once she realized she was not going to jail. But her ego still wanted to win. So she softened her tone and tried to paint herself as the victim. >> He's talking to you how you talked to us when we first talked. >> So when I came up to you, I was rude cuz I didn't even know anything about you guys even being here. I called my dad here to investigate the know. No, >> no, no. You said you were investigating the theft. Matter >> of fact, let me just go cuz I know how this going to get me. Take it. >> Telling me to go sit down and do all this like >> you're trespassed. >> Okay, just now my count 2 minutes away. Give me a 2 minutes. Don't do that. >> In reality, the officers gave her far more time than they originally warned her to leave, but her constant provocation toward police kept her there and ruined her own chance to walk away. >> Can you Can you do me a favor? When you call this, make sure you get this number. >> Hey, Grandma. >> Hello, Grandma. I don't I don't know what >> Stand back. >> Why are you holding me? >> Taser. YOU GOING TO BREAK MY FREAKING WALK. >> LOOK WHAT I'M SAYING THOUGH. SIR, you extend the break. >> There was not even the slightest sign that she realized her mistakes. And even in handcuffs, she still acted arrogantly as if she was already used to this kind of situation. >> The car didn't even do [ __ ] >> Stop moving. >> I'M TRYING TO FIX IT. [screaming] >> HEY, DADDY OFF OF ME. >> Put her in the car. >> Somebody else off of me. HUH? >> WHAT Y'ALL DOING? Look at my hand. >> I'M TRYING TO FIX IT DOWN. YOU'RE PULLING THEM APART. I'm so sorry. >> Did you really believe it was an accident when she was still wearing the bracelet on her wrist and kept denying it? Officers then explained the consequences she could face. >> You're going to come down. You're going to get a court date. >> Okay. Okay. And we'll bring you back up. Okay. No one has to know about it but you. We made a mistake. >> That's why. I'm sorry. I'm really really sorry. >> Technically, you left the store. I know. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> All right. I'll ask you if there's anything else. >> Just take your phone out and just put it right here on the hood. >> The woman became completely frantic after getting caught. But even more suspiciously, she suddenly wanted to be taken away as fast as possible. Almost like she was hiding something else and didn't want officers searching any further. >> Wait, hold on. Relax. Relax. >> Please, I just >> Listen, this could be a real you work with us. >> Okay. Please, can I just get in the car? I have to really use the bathroom. Please. I'm begging you. Okay. It's one of the richest malls in America. >> I know. I don't even know why I did that. >> Stupid, stupid, stupid. >> New Jersey. >> She tried to make it seem like it was just an accidental theft or a stupid mistake, but in reality, the theft was completely intentional and clearly not her first time. The evidence inside her car proved everything. >> With this purse right here, just my purse. >> You have receipts for this stuff? No. >> Where did it come from? Nordstrom. >> So, I'm going to go ahead and assume that you still listen. >> I did. I'm sorry. Yes. >> Okay. So, why are we playing games? Cuz I'm going to check the cameras. The longer this takes. >> Okay. This is it. That's it. Yeah. >> How much stuff did you just get from Martians? This This whole bag is from Marian. >> That's it. I when I walked around, I was in like, you know, just looking around. That's truffle popcorn that I was going to return. That's Yeah, that's all Christmas stuff that I'm >> from. I don't know. Probably the only truthful thing she said all day. Officers quickly recognized the empty bags and storage setup as signs of organized retail theft while she kept making excuses to mislead them. >> That's all my grocery bags. That's it. That's all my grocery bags. And that's just crap to donate. That's it. You can look in there. You can open that. That's all stuff to donate. They're all They're all They're all old things to donate, just so you know. And the same with that bag over there. That's all donations. There's like Christmas cards. You want to run that back? Just take a picture of it and then give them the property back. >> Can I sit down? >> We'll go for that. Sure. You sit down in the back of the car. Thank you. Finally, the woman was charged with shoplifting and possession of stolen goods. Trying to lie and manipulate the situation only made the evidence against her even stronger. Once trust is lost, every excuse starts sounding like another cover up. Next, shifting the tone into this chaos. >> I'm outside. Come on, her up. >> So, you don't know who she is? >> I DON'T KNOW WHO THAT GIRL IS. >> They just want to take me to jail. >> Yes, you're going to jail. Okay, you are under arrest. Okay, we're trying. >> I'M GOING TO WALK. WHAT THE are you talking about? >> On November 10th, 2025, officers received a report from a Chipotle about a fight that had occurred inside. For more details, listen to the statement from this employee. >> What happened? >> I was in the store. They came in arguing. I thought they were going to go their separate directions. They did not. They kept continued fighting. So, I got involved and I was like, "Girl, it's not >> Who who was the primary aggressive, do you think? Like, who was really >> They were both going at it. They were both aggressing each other." >> All right. >> And then a fight started. She just left from the back. She opened our back door and then >> So you probably heard her. >> Okay. >> Hello. >> Hi, I'm Officer S with Brookton Police Department. Do you mind to tell me what's going on today? So that way we can let >> I don't know who that white girl is, but she just swung on me. So I'm going to beat her ass. >> Okay. So I was >> like I told them. >> Okay. So I wasn't here, right? So, my name's Officer Sanger. Some people call me Luki. What's your name? When you're ready. Okay. >> All right. You can do. >> I don't want to talk. I see Ray right now. I want to fight. I DON'T CARE TO TALK. I WANT TO FIGHT. I DID NOT TOUCH THAT GIRL. SHE PUT HER hands on me. I'M GOING TO HER UP. I DON'T WANT TO TALK. I WANT TO FIGHT. STOP TALKING TO ME. >> It was clear that although officers approached her calmly, she chose to handle the situation through wrongful violence. At that moment, she revealed the story behind it >> because my friend pulled into a parking spot. So, she gets out the car talking. So, I'm like, "What the are you talking about? You this mad over parking spot?" So, I'm like, "Girl, WHAT THE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? We in the place. We in there arguing. She swing on me and she TRYING TO RUN." SO, I GRAB THAT BY HER hair and I start tagging her ass. SO, WHEN SHE COME OUT, I'mma up. >> Okay. So, how did you get the the mark on your lip? Did she do that? She punched you in the face. >> That's what I just said. >> Okay. Sorry, I didn't completely understand the wording that you used. Okay. >> Who are you? >> All right. >> You guys together? Are you okay with her? >> Stop asking me question. >> Oh my god. Bro, you [screaming] look around. >> Okay. >> Where is she at? >> Are you friends? What's her name? No, no, no. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. >> Okay, >> I need YOU TO NO NEED TO TAKE A >> Because the woman had completely lost control of her mind, her statement was difficult to trust. So, officers proceeded to gather testimonies from several other witnesses. >> I saw a cluster of three or four girls all had each other by the hair, beating the [ __ ] out of each other. >> Okay. And first I saw a guy who was like backing up like this in the corner like didn't want nothing to do with it. And then I panned over, see the group of girls. At least one or two of them worked there. >> Okay. >> And the guy eventually went over and pulled one of the chicks off and then everything from there was kind of like below the sideline of the tables and I couldn't see. >> Okay. I appreciate it. Did you see a fight? >> I didn't see the fight, but I saw what happened originally. >> Okay. What happened originally? Um, sorry for my descriptive terms. The white girl comes >> walking up. I was already just sitting here eating. The white girl comes walking up in the back of the parking lot and the other girl yelling out front. >> Okay. >> And she's already walking and she's The white girl is going, >> "What did the white do you know what the white girl was wearing?" >> Um, black hoodie and baggy sweatpants. And there was a red >> black hoodie. Baggy sweatpants. >> Um, like a baggy a red accent. over Lake. >> Hey, we're going to go check Lake. >> And I think she's still in Moola. I haven't seen her a walk out. >> Okay. >> Maybe she's in the bathroom or something. I don't know. >> Okay. >> But um she was the one that walked up first yelling, "Girl, what's wrong with you? What's wrong with you?" And she kind of >> Returning to the suspect, she had become calmer and officers attempted to explain what needed to be done to resolve the situation quickly for her. She got upset, came in and swung at you, caused this, and then she tried to run away, so you stopped her. >> Yeah, that's what I said. >> Okay. Well, I need to confirm what you said. Okay. Cuz I don't want to make I don't want to have any information wrong. Are you waiting her here because you want to fight her? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, if that's the case, then I'm going to have to prevent you from doing that. Okay. Cuz we're not going to have a fight. We're not having a physical altercation where you're waiting to fight her. Okay. Now, if she needs to go to jail today for what she did, then I need you to work with me to tell you what's go tell me what's going on. Okay. If she's the one who caused the problem today, we want to do something about that. Okay. >> Okay. So, go find her then. >> Well, I can't find her know what she looks like. I don't know. >> We're trying to help you to prevent you from getting in trouble. We're trying [snorts] to see you do this to you to make sure you're not at fault. If you don't want to work with us, that's an issue for you. We're trying to help you. Do you want to work with us or not? Cuz if your solution to this is fighting her, that's not going to end well for anyone here. >> So, [snorts] do you want to work with us or not? We're here to help you. >> We're just going to be stubborn. >> I [snorts] already told y'all what I want. >> No, you didn't. >> So, you said I want to beat her ass. >> That's can't do that. >> Can't do that. We can't watch that. Then automatically you have to go to jail. Is that what you want to do? You want to go to jail? >> You see in red right now? I get it. You're hot in the head. I get it. But can you take a breath? Meanwhile, another officer gathered statements from the store employees and obtained their decision regarding what had happened. >> Gray sweater. What else? >> Sweatpants. >> Uhhuh. >> And then she was about yay high. Like just a bit taller than me. >> Okay. >> And then she had blonde like yellowish hair. >> Okay. >> And then >> that's all I could describe. And then she had um that was really Oh, her keys. She had um >> she had this like towel character on her che on her towel character on her keychain. >> She was like towel. Yeah, like a towel on her t-shirt. >> Okay. I'm trying to see if I can get video footage. They don't have access to it at the moment. >> Oh, really? >> Um >> um she But that girl supposedly they were in here when when they fought. So I want to see the footage. >> I thought I went outside. >> No, they went outside after the fight. >> Apparently something about parking. She came in here and then swung at her and then she went to run away so she grabbed her and threw her down. [laughter] >> Who threw her down? This girl threw her down. >> Yes. after she the other girl >> after the other girl. You see the her her lip and her thing after she swung at her. >> He does. Okay. Can I see? >> I mean, you don't really Oh, yeah. There you go. >> And then the girl's on the right. >> Do you mind if I re look at it? >> Yeah. Still haymaker. >> Yeah. So, >> punches. I heard >> bro. I seen you, Marshall. I was like, I don't think I >> Thank you guys. Somebody's not here. >> Can I have like my >> Your ID? Yeah. >> Like my license ID? >> Yes, please. That's how I trespass somebody is. cuz I need you're considered the manager. >> Still waiting on this. >> At that moment, officers explained the trespass decision from the store. Yet, both suspects seemed indifferent to their wrongdoing, showing no remorse at all. >> Hey, Mariah, you've now been trespassed from the store. The manager no longer wants you to be here, so you have to leave the store and the premises. Okay. >> How am I going to leave if I don't if I didn't drive? >> Sorry. >> How am I going to leave? >> You can go to the next property or you can go to the sidewalk over there, but you can't stay here. Okay. Would you like to sign her refusal form to say you don't want to prosecute against her with my sergeant? Would you like to? Okay. Well, you don't have to talk to me, but you got to leave. If you come back here within a year to this property, you will be arrested. Okay. You're you go right now. Yes. is is uh if she don't leave, >> she's gonna end she's gonna get arrested by somebody here tonight. >> Okay. So, she's got to leave. >> Can I put her? >> Is that her car? >> This is Casey's car cuz they came together. >> Okay. Can she drive? >> No. >> I She probably could, but I She's frantic. So, I don't know if I was just going to take them and go back to campus and then bring somebody to come get >> Okay. >> So, can I put her in that car for right now while >> if she's will if she has to leave? Right. Okay. >> So, that's the biggest thing. She's got to leave. Okay. That's that's her car, but she's having a panic text. She can't drive right now. She's got her. And then she's also willing to take >> Okay. So, do you think it would be better if I take them right now and then come back and get your phone? >> Yes, that would be the best idea. >> Thank you, Jade. >> Be very helpful. >> What seemed like the end did not satisfy the suspects, and chaos erupted once again. All right. All right. All right, guys. Guys, guys. No, no, no. We're not doing this. We're not. >> Hey, hey, hey. >> Bro, I'm trying to walk. >> Bro, call my auntie, bro. Is >> that her? Is that her? I'm not talking. >> Okay. Y'all don't got to man. Y'all don't got to man her stuff. I'm relaxing. Call my auntie. 561. Not Jade. Can you please get your phone and call my auntie? Piss. They just want to text me to jail. >> Yes. You're going to jail. Okay. You are under arrest. Okay. >> I'M GOING TO WALK. WHAT THE are you talking about? All y'all for me. I'm 125 [ __ ] pounds. >> This is not what we wanted to do tonight. Clearly it is cuz we doing it. >> I beg you to leave. >> Bro, I was going to walk to school. >> Sorry. You're okay. >> What are you talking about? I don't want to be in no car right now. I want to be by myself and cool. The All right. Have a seat. She was charged with trespassing after warning and resisting without violence. Losing control of emotions and choosing violence over cooperation only turned a solvable situation into legal consequences. Let's switch things up with this fraud case. >> So, in order to sign paper, you're going to need some type of ID. >> We already really get this thing. >> Now, you finding out that there was no availability of funds. They never gave you an issue with that. deposits. >> On the 5th of June 2025, deputies approached a woman at a dealership after receiving [music] reports of a forged instrument being used. This was what unfolded next. >> Are the black Tesla out front? Are you guys Is that your ride? >> Yeah, that's your ride. >> Yeah. >> 564. >> All right. So, what's going on today? You guys are trying to purchase something. >> I do. >> Okay. So, what are you guys trying to purchase? what you were to purchase something. >> Okay. So, what exactly is happening with the contract? >> I guess there's a problem with the check. It's >> So, I'm just going to be very straight up and honestly honestly it goes a long way. The check's bad. So, what's the deal with the with the with checks and going on and stuff like that? >> What do you mean? >> The checks the checks used to purchase said vehicle are bad. And there's another check brought in that is also bad. >> To purchase this vehicle? >> Yeah, they come from my account. Okay. Can I see? >> Do you have the check? >> Do you have And it's in First Horizon. So, who is what is First Horizon to [music] you guys? >> Is that right? >> Right. >> All right. >> And who's the account holder for it? >> Joseph to use your account holder for that account. >> That's you. >> Yeah. >> Can I see your ID, please? So, in order to sign paper, you're going to need some type of ID. >> We already signed. We already really did this. It was the bank already. The woman acted like everything was already finalized and refused to show her ID, raising even more suspicion. Meanwhile, the dealership manager explained the issue they [music] were facing. [snorts] >> They again, so they from my frankly from our conversation, did they see everything everything went through, but now it's just waiting on this like a down payment for the complete payment of the car? >> Yeah. So, the initial down payment, which was $9,500, they've given us already two back checks. Okay. I need if they have any of this statement from whoever was involved around identify them. We're not going to ask any questions. >> Um they they've already wrote me two bad checks and now they brought me a third check which we can't verify as well. So all these checks um I called their lender today to see if they could verify that check. She says they have no indication of that check that it's it's it's basically it's fraudulent. >> Okay. So, uh, we also ran her records, of course, and I noticed that she had a prior to this type of stuff. >> Oh, so, so this is over the the down payment of the actual >> Yeah. So, the actual contract itself, I mean, everything's it's a funable contract. Like, we have a room approval with the bank. It's a consistent down payment, >> the whole initial down >> in order for make the deal to be complete. Correct. >> $9,500, >> which we've already tried them to get multiple. I said, can you just bring me cashes? I can't do that. It's got to be a cashier check. cashier check his cash. Just go to your bank and pull the money out. >> She goes, "Oh, they won't let me do. I have to wait 24 hours." >> And this is all within today. >> Today? Literally? Yeah. Within within today. >> Moments later, deputies directly confronted the woman about the information they had uncovered and she immediately came up with a well-prepared story to explain it. >> So, that's what we we have. We have an issue here when it comes to the check. So, what's what's going on with the checks? >> Okay. So, we've been trying to buy this car for probably about a month and a half, right? 3 weeks after they got they were trying to get approval. 3 weeks after they called me like, "Hey, you know, we're good to go. You guys can come and, you know, you'll have you'll have the deal, whatever. You guys can move forward with uh like picking up the car." >> Okay, >> sure. No problem. You know, originally it was a $7,000 down payment. We come here. Um then they're like, "Oh, the down payment is going to be $9,500 or something like that because we're going to wave something yada yada." That was about 2 weeks ago or something like that. I asked them, "How can I make the payment, you know, for the down payment?" I said, "I can bring you a business check like what what can I make it?" And then I even asked I said uh this was on a Friday or Saturday or something like that. So the bank was closed. So um bring the check and um they call me on Wednesday and they say that the check returned uh the funds weren't available or something like that. So I go back, you know. >> So when were you notified of that? That was um when have I regret my phone? If >> the best of your knowledge, the >> best of your knowledge. >> Um >> so the first time the check didn't go through when what what day was that? >> Third th Thursday of the follow of last week or something like that. >> Last Thursday. Okay. >> Yeah. So then um that's when the check didn't go through. Um and so then uh I came in. They asked me to give him a Oh, no. I was here. So with the whole situation that it was two checks and stuff like that, I had given him the wrong I had given them the wrong check. >> Her story became a long patched together explanation that was hard to believe. Suspicion only grew as she sounded increasingly unsure while answering the deputy's questions. >> What did you do at the bank? >> Huh? >> What did you do at the bank? >> Check. >> Okay. Which check did you get? >> The one that I gave him that he told me that he hasn't cashed or anything because he hasn't he's not able to cash it or whatever. No. >> And this is the check that you handed to me? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> The check that I >> Do you know what what check number that was that they gave me? >> It starts with a nine, I believe. >> Okay. So, you said you have the bank statements. Normally, if you look at the bank statements, it'll tell you what check number they wrote wrote out. Is there a way for you to get into that? >> Um, well, the bank statement is going to give you the bank statements that's already been released. You mean the account itself? So when you purchase a buyer's check, it tells you the check number that they're issuing. >> But no, so it's not it's a business account. So what they do is they it's a draft check. They print this the check the bank the bank number >> and all of this is coming from your account. >> It's his account. It's Joe's. Are you on his account at all? >> Like are you like an authorized user? Do you have do you guys are you able to access the funds from his account? >> I'm in the business. Yeah, I'm in the business part of the business account. Yes. >> Okay. >> But the he's the main signer on the account. I'm just an authorized person on the account. >> Okay. >> And each each one of these checks you physically got from the [music] bank? >> No. Um only one of them. The first two we use our system to print our draft checks out. >> What's >> QuickBooks, which is what we use? >> Use QuickBooks. >> Yes. >> Let me see that account that >> Oh, he's going to have to uh open the account. I can't. Um, >> it became clear that she admitted the signature was not her name. Yet, she still continued making excuses with another story to justify it. >> Hey, you know, the check didn't the check didn't clear. The check didn't there was not funds or something. we couldn't verify it. Either bring us the funds or, you know, we'll take you to the bank to get to get the check to get another check. So that's what they decided. He drove me to the bank. I went to the bank. That was that. Um I so I gave him the option of giving him, you know, some cash today and the remaining of it in the morning. And there was a lot of back and forth. Some people were saying yes, other people were saying no. He told me you're good. Then he said, you know, you're not good. So I really don't. And before you guys got here, we were about to sign something. He told me that he had given it to his accounting team or something and he had already called and verified something. >> So So at the bank when you physically went there to get the check, they never gave you an issue when it came to getting the check or obtaining it with, you know, being now you finding out that there was no availability of funds. They never gave you an issue with that. Like they never had pending deposits that were coming into the account. That's why they said, you know, within 24 to 48 hours. And I asked them and they said, "No, you know, we deposited. Takes a couple days to clear." >> And which bank did you physically go [music] in person to? >> The one today or the one >> the one the one today? >> Um, >> which one do you go in person to? >> So they took you to a First Verizon location. >> Yes, they took they themselves took me in the BMW Blue BMW. The guy drove me there. >> Okay. Is that your son? >> That's your son? >> Yes. >> Huh? >> You remember? I turned myself in one time before >> um in Port Charlotte uh for uh >> Well, they're going to tell me actually. >> Yeah, of course. No, it's uh I have an it's a insurance fraud >> and um it was a job that we did in for Charlotte. It's currently outstanding. Um it's an issue with the uh dispute between me and the customer as far as the work that was done and whatever not. >> Shortly after, the deputies held a discussion among themselves and quickly reached a decision. My name's Eric. Okay. Give me all your stuff. >> All right. >> Also, take off your take off your bracelet before the anything else goes on. >> Anything in your pockets, Grady? >> Yes. What do >> you got? Just my keys. >> Just your keys. >> Let them pray. >> Put your hands together. >> Put your hands together. >> Backward. >> Other way. There you go. >> Other way. Other way. >> You want them to? >> Yes. 104. We have a black female 153 or 18. >> You want to see 18 >> 56 actually be a signal 18. >> The woman was ultimately charged with uttering a forged instrument. One bad decision quickly turned into a criminal case, proving that trying to cover financial problems with excuses and fake payments only makes the consequences far worse. Let's meet a woman who was not a bad person but a shoplifter. >> I see I like it. I check it. I I need buy this. It's I I don't know. You know, I am not the person. On the 29th of June 2023, police approached a woman at a retail store on suspicion that she was involved in a theft. But the situation was not straightforward as a language barrier emerged from the suspect. [music] This was what happened at that moment. >> Headquarters tango hotel. >> Okay, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. I'll do every entry. Everybody just stand up. Turn around. >> Turn around, please. >> Let me at Sak Fifth Avenue. >> Okay. >> So, >> so what are the shoes? >> This one I was watching her going be a couple shoes. So, >> the shoes are >> ID. The woman asserted that she had paid for the shoes that were suspected of being stolen. But in her bag, there were many other items that also made the police suspicious. [music] >> Is this yours? >> Yes, I have my receipt inside. >> Yes, I have. >> She took this from his store. >> No, it's not new. I buy something. >> I need I need your license. >> I need to go. >> No, it stays on. There's alleged crime. >> I know. >> I'm sorry. This is the way um I could do business with everybody. >> So, concealment right here. It was going to be for the white shoes. If she had the black shoes, she conceal. >> Okay. >> What are the shoes? It's the white shoes that she has on there. Okay. >> I mean, she got it right there. >> In her hand. So, she's going to turn her back and then she's going to put in the bag right there. >> She going to put it in the bag. >> Are you from here? >> The Columbia. >> Yes, sir. I don't understand. Oh, it's okay. >> I I I I am no bad person. I only come here a Yes, it's okay. I I am no person. >> She could clearly understand English but acted as if she had difficulty communicating, seemingly to complicate the [music] situation. A Spanish- speaking officer was then called in and she began to share her side of the story more openly. The woman repeatedly insisted that she was not a bad person and claimed she had already paid for one pair of shoes. However, police determined she had taken more than that. Officers then quickly explained what she would be facing next in the legal process. Soch. Okay. Last person Okay. The police's efforts to explain the seriousness of the situation [music] seemed to have no effect. As the woman still believed she might be released because she was an immigrant, [music] she continued to plead. Victoria Secret. Are you okay? Okay. The Victoria Secret could have bought those shoes like 20 times. Oh, I like >> the woman was charged with retail theft. The lesson here is that trying to justify dishonest actions does not erase responsibility as evidence and consequences will still define the outcome regardless of personal explanations.
