So, what are y'all putting shackles on me for? >> You got a cast on your arm. >> Oh, it's too big for a regular handcuff. >> Oh, okay. >> How much dollar value you stole from? >> Probably a lot. Cuz I took a lot of >> No, you're not leaving because if he's pressing charges, you're going to go now. >> Don't put your hands on me. >> Then don't try to walk out. >> Go ahead. I'm reporting, too. >> I'm like going to like the jail. >> You come now. We're headquarters. Yes. Staying calm may seem like the best way to handle a situation, but some shoplifterss use it to fake innocence in front of officers. No matter how convincing they act, the law still catches up with them. These are the times women calmly left Walmart, thinking their theft went smoothly. Stay up to date with the most compelling police body cam cases by liking this video and subscribing to This is Law. Starting with this woman, a minor theft exposed a suspected seller of illegal substances. >> Put your shackle. Are you serious? Well, you have a pass on your arm. >> Exactly. And I got scraped up knees, too. >> Oh, we got white powder, everybody. >> All right, we'll keep it away from your face. >> On the 25th of March, 2024, officers approached a woman in the Walmart parking lot in connection with a theft that had occurred at the store. Surprisingly, she quickly admitted that she was the suspect, but she did so with a completely cheerful attitude. >> Good. >> Awesome. >> So, okay. Is this your car over here? >> No. >> All right. All right. Would you come over here with me? >> Where? >> Over in this way. >> For what? >> So, we're doing an investigation right now. Apparently, somebody walked out with a >> car and put it in a random car. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that was me. >> Okay. Would you come over by the car with us? >> Whose car is it? >> What do you mean? >> Whose car is it? >> I don't know. >> Me neither. >> Okay. All right. So, where's all your stuff you took out of the store? And >> I just put I put it in a random car that was open. >> In a random car that was open for what? >> What do you mean for what? Because y'all come y'all was coming. >> Okay. Okay. So, you just put all the stuff in a random car you didn't know? >> Yeah, it's a game I was playing. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> What for? >> Um, just for the hell of it. >> Okay. You got any ID on you? >> No. >> All right. >> I left it in the car. >> Which car? >> The random car. I don't know what car it was. >> What color was it? >> Um, silver. >> Silver. >> Right. Something like that. >> So, you left your ID in some random car? >> Yeah. My whole bag. Oh, my >> All right. Makes sense. >> What kind of bag do you have? >> What kind of I think it's a Michael Cor. Can you please not stand behind me cuz you're making me nervous. I was here the whole time. >> You were? >> No. >> Yeah. He's in the car. >> Well, I'll be damned. >> What was your question? >> What kind of purse did you have? >> It's a Michael Kors purse. Can you go get it for me? >> What kind of vehicle were you driving? >> It's like gray or silver or something. >> What kind of make model? >> Um, I don't know. >> The woman seemed to have turned the situation into a game designed to make things difficult for the officers. She showed no sense of guilt and even went on to explain how the game was played. >> Because y'all were coming and I just ran up to the car and put on It's a game that we play. It's called 21. It's basically you go and steal all the [ __ ] that you can steal and then you get out without getting caught. Well, I did it one other time than this time, but I got caught this time. So, now I got to figure out where my purse is and where my merchandise is because now I got to give all my merchandise back to Walmart. >> Well, it's not really a game. >> It is a game >> to you. That's theft. >> It's fun, too. It's really fun. >> Oh, going to jail is fun. Okay. >> Well, I suppose. Am I going to jail? >> Well, we'll see how much stuff you took. >> It's a lot of >> So, where's where's the car at? >> I don't know. Okay. >> What's your name? >> It's >> Okay. >> And I don't find it funny. I'm just very bubbly. >> Okay. Did you Is the car yours or are you renting it? >> I don't know whose car it was. >> It's just a random person. >> It's just a random car. Yeah. Like if you walk up to this car. >> Okay. How about you? >> You feel me? It's going to be closed. You never know. You just got to try it out. >> Clearly, she had no intention of cooperating with the officers or helping them locate the missing merchandise. At that point, the officers decided to handcuff her. And strangely enough, she seemed almost happy that it was happening. >> Put your hands behind your back for me. >> Sure. You want that? >> What's wrong with your arm? >> Broken. >> My pinky is so be careful. >> Oh, wait a second. >> We'll get that. We'll get that. >> We'll get Stop. >> Do you have any leg checkers? >> Uh, I have a hobble. >> Hey, I have a hobble. >> You do? >> Actually have flex. >> I was just trying to grab my phone. >> You have We can do flex. >> Yeah. >> Y'all going to put me a shackle? Are you serious? Well, you have a cast on your arm. >> Exactly. And I got scraped up knees, too. >> No one said they're going on your feet. >> So, what are y'all putting shackles on me for? >> You got a cast on your arm. >> Oh, it's too big for regular handcuffs. >> Oh, okay. >> Look at that. Flex cuffs. >> So, just going to stick these back here. >> All right. Was not too tight for you? No. >> All right. Anything on you? Is that my phone? No. That was >> No, I don't have anything on me. >> Okay. So, you're not under arrest right now. You're just being secured so we can conduct our investigation. Okay. >> Do you have anything else on you? Um >> like on you, in you, anything like that? >> Do you have anything that say you do go to jail that if you go into the jail and they find it on you later, is there anything like that? >> No. A tampon that needs to be changed. You just ask me that question. Well, you keep that. >> Ask the same question. >> My boyfriend's car, but my boyfriend doesn't know that I steal >> and he doesn't know that I put all this in the car neither. >> Okay. >> So, I would be really in trouble with him. >> But that's that's the thing. >> So, what kind of car is it? >> I don't remember cuz it's a rental. I just got the rental car. What color? >> Oh, you said it was someone random this morning. >> Yeah, I know. I lied to you. >> Her her boyfriend rented the car. >> Without realizing it, she admitted details that pointed officers toward the vehicle containing the stolen merchandise. Taking advantage of her attitude, the officers continued questioning her to gather more information. >> Dollar value you stole from >> probably a lot cuz I took a lot of >> Okay. So, basically, you got to put everything in the cart and ring it up and find out the value of it. And then what's the next move? >> And then I then depending on the dollar amount is if you go to jail or not. >> Well, I'm pretty good. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go to jail because it's a lot of >> Okay. >> So, what's what happens after that? Well, if you're over that dollar amount for felony, >> then you will go to jail for felony amount of shoplifting. >> All right. You'll be booked in a Flaggler County inmate facility. >> Okay. >> And then whatever you do from there, bond out, whatever. It's up to you. >> All right. Can I please call my boyfriend? >> Not right now. >> Okay. Can I talk to other officer? >> To deputy Sanford? >> Sure. >> She wants to call her boyfriend and I said no. >> Can I ask why? Because right now we're conducting an active investigation. >> What is the investigation I just told you? >> I still have to confirm everything. >> He doesn't know that I stole it. >> Okay. >> So, he's going to get the car. I'm like, what the is this? >> Well, we we're we're with the car right now. There's >> Y'all are >> Yeah. >> What car is it? It's a rental. I don't remember what car it was. >> Okay. Well, we know what we know. >> All right. Yeah. Can you turn the AC on? >> I I will. I rolled the window down for you. >> All right. Bet. Just with all this plastic, it's hard sometimes to get air back in. >> If you're wondering whether this woman's mental state was normal, she soon claimed that she had mental health issues herself. But should her claims really be taken at face value? >> I have psychological problems. Like I have mental issues >> like bipolar, anxiety, depression, all that and schizophrenia. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, do you have a [ __ ] attitude in me or you GOOD? CUZ YOU ASKED ME QUESTIONS BUT IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT A ATTITUDE. Are you good? >> Am I yelling AT YOU? >> BUT YOU GOT A [ __ ] ATTITUDE WITH YOUR LITTLE PRISSY ASS. Blink blink. >> I'm not yelling at you. >> Okay, but you got an attitude. >> This is just how I am. >> Well, then change it cuz you meet people like me off duty. >> Okay. Is that >> Okay. No, it's not. But I'm just LETTING YOU KNOW HOW THE REAL WORLD WORKS. >> It's not. >> OKAY. CUZ YOU'RE A HARD ASS WITH THAT. BUT YOU'RE NOT WITHOUT IT. YES. >> What's in the bag, sir? >> CLO THE [ __ ] DOOR LIKE THAT AGAIN. YOU STUPID. You are noting hard and that's not youring purpose to be an officer. That's still a lot of >> clearly few people with genuine mental health conditions would openly admit to having them. And the truth about her condition soon became clearer when officers located the vehicle and began searching it. >> Oh, we got crystal. >> We got white crystals, bubble pipe, and a safe. You see, >> dude, that's white. This has white crystal in it. Like small small amount, but there's white crystal in it. >> Meth and another one. >> Well, don't break it. >> Very small. I'm going to put this on the >> Maybe it's not schizophrenic cuz you're smoking. >> Oh, >> patches. >> What is that? >> Yeah. Uh, Shabbasa. >> It's It's her name. >> What's the date on it, though? >> Oh, so that's hers. I mean, we got weed in the front. We got probably meth in the back. >> This is good, though. She's >> She's got her name on here. So, I mean, whatever's in the back, I would attribute to her as well. >> But it didn't stop there. Officers also found a hidden safe inside the vehicle, and everything inside suggested that the woman could be involved in selling illegal substances [music] rather than simply using them. >> That's good. There's nothing in there. I'm muted. I'm muted. So, we're good. >> So, >> all right. Signal zero right after. >> And there's a baggie underneath there. >> What is this? >> Is that a lightsaber? That's a That's a >> Oh, >> I'm rolling. >> That's nice. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. Fun box. >> Oh, we got white powder, everybody. >> All right. We'll keep it away from your face. >> What do you mean? >> So, you want to sniff it. >> Don't inhale it. Trinum. >> This is one of those boxes that Sergeant Weaver found behind the license plate one time. >> Yep. Uh >> kind of. >> Yep. >> Yeah. It's hide a key. >> If I was a Bon woman, a ruse of vinyl. >> The woman was charged with retail theft, methamphetamine trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. >> [snorts] >> This case shows how quickly a seemingly simple theft investigation can escalate when officers uncover additional evidence. Cooperating with law enforcement and thinking carefully before making statements can prevent a situation from becoming even more serious. Next, this wealthy mother let greed cost her dignity. >> Place on the restaurant. >> Wait, really? >> Yes. >> Turn around. >> For real? >> Turn around. >> Just so I know how this works at home. On the 4th of April 2026, police were dispatched to Target after receiving a report that the loss prevention team had detained a 39 years old woman named Karine Sysler for shoplifting. Officers quickly arrived at the scene. And this is what happened next. >> Wayne, I just want to let you know my camera's >> No problem. So, this is the receipt for her. Um, so basically what she did, she went to selfch checkout and just didn't pay for all those like she paid for this stuff, but not a bunch of other stuff. >> Okay. Um, the primary, so that's why we call you guys. >> Okay. The primary officer should be here shortly, but I'll write down some more stuff. No problem. >> Never in my entire life. >> The woman allegedly took advantage of the selfch checkout to leave several items unpaid. Her method was also exposed by the loss prevention team through the store's surveillance footage. do the statement. >> The statement. >> Yeah, >> I can I can do it. >> Thank you. [snorts] >> So, whenever you're ready. >> Mhm. >> And I I can send you this video, too. >> Um to the session. >> Yeah. So, we have the the portal that you guys uploaded to. >> So, and some of the stuff and then there's some stuff that she's just not going to remove period at all. >> That one's ticket switch. Actually, she put a different tag on that one. >> It fell on the floor and I didn't realize it. >> Oh, this one there. She couldn't find it. This one she doesn't scan [snorts] the other thing on the bottom. She she doesn't scan the two as well. >> Mhm. >> The woman was also found to live in an $891,000 home. Yet her greed still led her to steal $149 worth of merchandise. With her guilt now clear, the officers decided to take action. >> You guys You guys have your own trespass form? Yeah, you have. >> Okay. Well done. Okay. >> Yeah. >> You have ID on you? >> I have it. I already have it. Okay. Perfect. All right. Stand up. >> You place on the resting thing. >> Really? >> Yes. >> Turn around. >> For real. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. >> I'm like going to like the jail. >> You come to our headquarters. Yes. >> Turn around. Like can I just do in the front? What should we do? >> Do you have a car here? >> You do. I can put it in. >> Yeah. So we can put it in your car. Um and then you ever been arrested before? >> No. >> No. Okay. So then you'll probably get released on the Sundays. So, we'll bring you back here and you just go to court. >> So, all this stuff, >> you want to just have it down. >> The woman was taken to the patrol car shortly after. She appeared worried about what was happening and even when she smiled, [music] it seemed forced. >> 669. I'm >> 39. >> I'm sorry. >> I'm 39. >> No. So, >> oh, >> so 41 means um it's like our code for somebody under arrest. >> Oh. Oh. Oh. Okay. Got it. >> So, uh when you bring me down, just so I know how this works, I have three kids at home and my husband literally kill me. >> Um >> will you drive me back here? Yes. Okay. >> Yeah, that's fine. So, >> I tell everybody this and I don't see you giving me a problem at all, but the easier you work with me, >> the quicker I am. >> So, um I'll let you make a phone call inside. >> Um but when we get inside, I'm going to do some basic paperwork. I'll do your your fingerprints and pictures and then do another half hour worth of paperwork and then you should be done. All right. The woman was charged with shoplifting. The lesson here is that trying to exploit selfch checkckout does not make theft harder to detect. Surveillance cameras and loss prevention teams can expose the entire scheme, turning what may seem like an easy shortcut into serious legal consequences. Next, this woman fled into the woods after being caught shoplifting red-handed. >> Hey, come here. >> Just wonder later on today. >> On the 8th of May 2025, police received a report from Walmart about a theft in progress. The suspect, a woman, had already fled the scene. When officers arrived, they approached a man believed to be connected to her to ask about her. >> Hold on. >> Yes, sir. >> Don't go nowhere. >> Yes, sir. What's up? >> Were you with her? >> No. >> No. >> No, sir. >> Who is she? >> So, if I pull up the cameras, you weren't over there talking to that girl that just walked off. >> Talking to who? No, sir. I don't I was asleep in the car, but No. >> No. >> No, sir. >> Who's the girl that you were giving a ride to? >> Who's the girl that you were giving a ride? >> Somebody out front over there on that P. I don't know who she was. >> You don't know who she is? traffic. >> How you doing, man? >> Is her kids in the car? That's what she told me. >> Huh? >> Is her kids in the car? That's what she told me. >> No kids at all. >> Probably a different person. >> Okay. Well, she stopped and talked to you and then you started following her. >> At the same time, another team of officers moved into the wooded area beside the shopping center, which was believed to be the direction she had fled. Hey, come here. detain. Come with me. Yes, sir. >> Can I talk to you for a second? >> So, do you know who she is? >> Okay. >> No, sir. >> You just lied cuz you said you didn't talk to her. >> I did. I mean, like I was asleep in the car and I don't know who it was. >> What' she say? >> She just said, "Hey, wake up, man." I was like, "What is going on? I've been asleep." Well, what's going on? >> Where's your vehicle at? I gave a ride to >> Which one's his? It's a champagne model. Officer, I have to make a delivery. >> Okay, give me one second. >> I'm on a time. >> All right, give me one second. >> What's going on? >> You didn't give her a ride here, >> huh? >> You didn't give her a ride here. >> So, if I go pull the video [cough and clears throat] out of that vehicle, >> honestly, I'm not sure who the hell that was. >> Is she going to get out of this vehicle? >> Step out here. >> I'm sorry. >> 35. I got one female to this. >> All right, we got her. >> Okay, >> you're free to go. I got you. Step. >> I was just hungry, man. I swear. >> Don't pull against me for I'm going to put you in handcuffs. Okay. Is >> that her? >> Right there. >> Yeah, she just changed her shirt. >> Here, have a sit right here. >> Although the man was highly suspicious for denying that he knew the woman, officers determined that he was not involved in the theft and allowed him to leave. However, [snorts] he strangely lingered around the scene instead of leaving immediately. >> All right, we got her. Okay, >> you're free to go. >> I got you st >> I was just hungry, man. I swear. >> Don't pull against me for I'm going to put you in handcuffs. Okay. >> Oh, you want to talk to her now? No. Beat off. >> No, you lied to me earlier. Leave. >> It was, man. >> Wait, I guess that's fine. >> From you transfer trespass. Hey. >> All right. All right. Hey. All right. Come back. >> That's your purse? You said? Yeah. Is there anything in there I need to know about? >> Yeah, I got a sandwich and some clothes. >> That's it? You mind if I take a look? >> Yeah. Some spray. >> You got ID on you? No. You going to lie to me again when I ask for your name? >> I didn't I didn't lie to you. >> But you said you didn't talk to me. you. >> I thought I told you. We all know you're >> so trespass. >> The man was also issued a trespass order from Walmart. Meanwhile, officers recovered the stolen merchandise along with the clothes the woman had allegedly changed into in an attempt to conceal her identity while fleeing. >> Deli food. >> There's a shirt she was wearing. And that's my bra. drink. Let me go grab a Walmart bag. My stuff. >> Did you get one of the sandwiches for him? >> Did you get one of the sandwiches for him? >> He didn't know. >> Which one's your vehicle? >> It's gold. It's a piece of junk. >> Where's it at? I don't know. >> Is it here in the parking lot? >> Yeah. >> Should be a Honda here somewhere. Is it the Honda? >> Yeah, it's a gold one. >> Is there anything in that we need to know about? >> No. I just literally got tires put on it today cuz they were flat. >> All right. You mind if I take a look? >> That's fine. >> Where's Where's her car at? >> His car is over there somewhere. >> Oh, double. >> You know, she gave consent to search it. Where's Where's that car at, man? Do what? Over there. >> It's over there. Is it locked? >> It's a BR. Hey, it's a golden color Chevy like car all the way over there. >> Way over there. >> Yeah, it's like like three or four rows over. >> Is the vehicle locked? >> No. She gave consent to search it. >> Yeah. I I take it. >> As soon as she was placed in the patrol car, the woman immediately began talking about her personal circumstances, seemingly trying to portray herself as someone deserving of sympathy. [cough and clears throat] >> You know how long I have to stay in jail for? >> Uh, no idea. No idea. >> Just wondering cuz I got four kids and supposed to be getting them like later on today. >> I said, "Where are your kids at?" Cuz they're not in the car. >> No, they're they're at their dad's. >> They're at their dad's. >> Yeah. Where you staying now? >> I stay in Heritage. Y'all came out there a couple times when I was broken into. >> That's right. I remember y'all. >> Why we acting up, man? >> I just my day. I need to get a job, but we're about >> Hey, boo. Finish uh the bathroom with Brandon. >> Huh? >> Get Brandon to help you finish that bathroom. She's uh probably going to have first appearance in the morning and then she's going to get a bond set. Then just know that y'all both trespass from Walmart. Not allowed to come back. All right. I'm printing out your paperwork right now. All right. Here you go, man. He's not allowed to come back. Okay. >> Squad in the bushes over there trying to corner here. I'm late. >> We'll grab your statement if you want to take her. >> In the end, 25-year-old Kendall Hardy was charged with theft and sentenced to 12 months of probation. Shoplifting can have lasting consequences that far outweigh any temporary benefit. Choosing to take responsibility and cooperate from the start is always better than trying to run or make excuses. [music] Next, let's head to another restaurant for another theft of services case. >> You're not leaving because if he's pressing charges, you're going to go now. >> Okay. Okay. Let me cancel my boo. Don't put your hands on me. >> Then don't try to walk out again. >> On the 15th of February 2025, officers were dispatched to a restaurant [music] after receiving a report of a woman who had no intention of paying for the services she had received. When they arrived, the suspect appeared agitated and explained why she had acted that way. We'll >> talk to her and see what she wants to do. She say she's not affected. So, see what I'm trying to pay. He don't want to take what I'm trying to pay. I don't want the 12 wings that he they brought out. I only ate one because that made my stomach hurt. He don't want to take it all. >> That That's not how ordering at a restaurant works. >> It's okay. He can press charges. That's fine. >> You do understand the concept. If you order something, you pay for it. >> They got it wrong. >> They made my stomach hurt. People is crazy. According to the report, she only wanted to pay for the portion of the meal she accepted and refused to pay the full bill, which was why the restaurant declined her partial payment. But was that really a right she had? Her sense of entitlement became even more obvious afterward. >> And you press my name and stuff, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Bye. >> No, you're not leaving because if he's pressing charges, you're going to go now. >> Okay. Okay. Take me. Take me. Please take me. >> Let me cancel my Uber. Don't put your hands on me again. >> Then don't try to walk out again. >> Go ahead. I'm recording, too. >> Put your hands on me again. >> If you try to walk out again on me again. If you walk downhill, then I [ __ ] I don't know. I really don't. >> No. Stay right there. >> Okay. What the I'm ready to go now. I'm ready to go. You don't get to dictate how this goes. >> The way you can dictate how this goes is to pay your bill for what you order. >> I'm not paying this. So, we're ready to go. >> Well, then you're going to stand right here. >> I'm ready to go. >> At that point, the officer returned with the total bill for the services she had used along with the restaurant's account of her earlier behavior. It turned out she had never intended to make a partial payment despite what she claimed. >> All right. So, she she was ranch dropping $77. >> Oh, I'm not paying it. Oh no. >> Yeah. So they hold on. Stay right there. >> So yeah, right now it say they want >> Okay, that's fine. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Yeah. You want to just get this up for the off light right here real quick so I can get my uh I just got to see shine your light. This [ __ ] is crazy. This is one of his ass like I said. I could be pregnant right now, [ __ ] >> Yeah. And he offered to drop that charge. >> I'm not paying that. I I paid I ate six wings and I ate one. No, my family. >> He and he took that off the bill and then you refused to pay. That's what my partner literally just $77. He did not take it off. >> You didn't even look at the vehicle. I ain't going to tell you. >> I know. >> Right here. >> If there had been a problem with the food from the first few bites, she could have complained to the restaurant. But according to the report, she ate almost the entire meal before complaining. Even after the restaurant offered to remove the wings from the bill, she still refused to pay, making it a theft of services case. Even at the police station, she showed no sign of embarrassment. How you doing? She was charged with theft of labor or services or use of property. Refusing to pay after receiving a service can quickly turn a customer complaint into a criminal case. If there's a genuine problem, resolve it through the proper process instead of refusing payment outright. Next, this woman even failed in her attempt to flee from Walmart. >> I I really wasn't stealing. I could pay for it. Like I can I I did not steal it when at all. like my >> on the 29th of July 2023, officers stopped a vehicle traveling on the road after suspecting it was involved in a shoplifting incident at Walmart. As they approached, they also discovered an issue with the vehicle's license plate. >> Hey, police department. Both of you guys put your hands on top of the steering wheel. Um, so I when I run the plate of your truck, it doesn't come back to a Chevy. >> It should. It's I bought this car off the car lot. I've been pulled over a couple times. Oh, okay. >> Yeah. Let me just get all verified. We also got a call that you guys withdrew over at Walmart a little bit ago. >> Yeah. >> Okay. We got a call that you guys had stores. >> So, >> I did the scan and I was scanning everything in my cart and and I paid up the register. >> Okay. Yeah. A citizen called it in. So, let me um and then Sir, can you keep your other hand on top of the front for me? Um, so let me just verify one store real quick. Okay. >> Okay. >> I'll just wait till my other people get an error. >> Okay. I mean, would you like to get my registration? >> Uh, first go ahead and take the keys out of the car for you. Thank you. And we'll just hang tight for a minute. Once my partner gets here, I'll uh double check that you're in so we can verify it's the right car and get your plate verified. Cuz when I ran Yeah. When I ran the plate, it came back to like a four instead of a shadow. So four. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Yeah. So, we'll just get that verified. But my partner's coming out now. So, >> like, can I hand you Marcy? >> Uh, just just let me get someone else here and then I can >> and then sir, would you be okay? Can you open your door for me then? >> They're right there, sir. >> The officer then brought up the shoplifting incident at Walmart. The woman immediately showed her receipt, but her story soon began to raise suspicions. >> So, you guys purchased everything on here. And do you know why someone would call in at theft without you? >> I mean, cuz Well, I was doing the scan and go, so you scan the items and then you put them in the bag and then you go to the kiosk and you scan the kiosk. So, you don't scan at the register at all. >> Oh, >> you scan while you're going through the store. So, it's a scan. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. The guy at the uh the Yeah, I can tell when we were walking out the guy, the checkout guy, he's marked us and everything's looking apart and everything. So, yeah. So, yeah, that's what it was. I mean, it looks odd because we're putting things in a in a bag. >> Uhhuh. >> While we're going through the store, but we're scanning as we go. And can I grab my phone here to show you? >> I'll just let you wait one minute and then once we get it verified, then I know it's not so Melissa. Uh, what's living room? >> Yes. >> Yeah, that's a nonextable. >> You need me to call the store? No, those are the right plates. >> Oh, >> I think you said 888. There's a zero on it. I don't know at the end. >> Oh, yeah. That's what I said. It must have been wrong. Anyways, yeah. Can you call store, please? What do you mean? >> Um, just to see if they had a theft. She said she bought it at the kiosk and it's a citizen that reported. So, >> okay. She claimed she had paid for the items using Walmart's scanandgo feature. To verify her story, the officers asked her to explain how the system worked. Here >> you go to scan and go. You have to be in the store for it to actually work. They start talking and then you just scan barcodes and then it creates your list >> and then when I >> And then do you go to check out? >> Yeah. And then you go to checkout and which I did and you scan the kiosk at the checkout and then you walk out the door >> and then uh Yeah, it does. It makes everything super fast. >> Yeah, >> I purchase history. >> Everything that was on my receipt. >> Yeah. >> So strange. It might have just been the first time I saw you do that. But >> she just has to call the store really quick and just verify and then I'll explain. >> Okay. Yeah. So that Yeah, that's basically that's all we did was just scan everything. >> I gave your driver's license, right? >> I don't want to sell you. >> That's okay. But you have to pay for the service though. It's not free service. >> Oh. So, like when you go on there, >> is it worth it? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Cuz you don't have to >> cuz you don't have to stand there and wait. It scans. Like while you're picking your item, you scan with your phone, you put in your cart, and then as you go and then it tells you how much your total is at the end >> and then you just go a little kiosk and go boot. >> Yeah. And then you're out. >> Okay. That's good to know. >> Yeah. >> Cuz I could see how someone could be like, "They just went out." Although you had your receipt with you, but they're like, "They just skipped the line." >> Yeah. No, exactly. and the and the guy looked in our car and and and marked us and everything. >> Yeah. >> While one officer was learning about the scan and go feature from the woman, the other officers received different information from Walmart over the radio, prompting them to verify the situation more carefully. >> So, not everything that they purchased was So, they purchased things, but they didn't scan everything. And so, can you show me your receipt one more time? Here's your receipt. >> Yeah. So, those lights in the back, they are not. Oh, they're not. Like I said, sometimes they have light chase and it just doesn't go all the way through. >> Oh, okay. >> So, >> I mean, >> so for now, I'm just gonna ask you to step out of the car and then we're going to call the store. So, for now, I'm just going to step out of the car for me and then face away from me. We're just going to >> Hey, I need you to call my >> I I really wasn't stealing. Yeah. Let me just contact the store first. Okay. >> Am I allowed to do that? Call her to get her? >> Not right yet. >> Were you with with her during the checkout? >> Yes. I'm not just walking around the store kind of news or anything like that. >> All right. Well, again, you could be an accomplice or be involved in the theft. So, I'm going to let my partner kind of play it out. Again, right now, you're not free to go. Again, you're being detained underneath reasonable suspicion. >> So, you're not free to go. You're not in handcuffs right now cuz you're cooperating with me. If you fail to cooperate with you, handcuffs will come on to show you that you're detained. Okay. >> Can I please call my son? Like, he's at home. Like, >> how old is your son? >> My son's 12. Like, I said, I'm on my way home to my kid. Like, I wasn't planning on stealing. >> Let's just step over here and then I'm just right now while I get everything figured out, right? >> With the woman temporarily placed in handcuffs, she became visibly worried and panicked. As they escorted her to the patrol car, the officers tried to explain what was happening. So, they're saying they were watching you the entire time and they saw you select certain items and not all that stuff, the pool stuff and everything in the back >> you didn't pay for and it's not on your >> Yeah, but I scanned every I selected items, of course. But I scanned every single thing that I put in my cart >> and they said >> No, this cuz the stuff in the back you didn't pick the pool stuff. >> I I tell you I I scanned everything. I don't know what happened. They can look at their camera footage. I just put that on my children. Like I wasn't planning on stealing anything. I literally scanned everything on there and to to pay. >> Okay. >> And I don't know why it didn't go through. I mean, I can go pay. I I will go back there. We can pay for it. Like I I >> So at this at this moment, you're going to be under arrest for theft. I'm going to call the store and see if they would like to pursue charges for the theft. And if they'd like to pursue charges, then we can go from there. Right. So, um, do I have your permission that the pool noodles and the stuff you didn't pay for? Do you have your permission to take that and give it back to the store? >> Yes. >> Okay. Would you What items did you not pay for? >> Can I Can I go? >> Yeah. >> Hey, could we I don't want to take her on this side. Can we maybe have him sit over there? >> Can he take my car or can he like >> If you'd like him to, he can take your car. As for the man in the passenger seat, the officers determined that he was not involved in the incident. So, they explained the situation to him. >> Appreciate your cooperation. So, as of right now, you are no longer detained. You are free to go. Okay. If you wish to stay here to try to coordinate the truck, that's fine. >> Yeah. >> But I need you to kind of go further up >> away from us and away from this. >> Okay. >> So, in that one. Yeah. The the that No, that is a safe way. Okay. about all this stuff. >> So all that should have been scanned. >> So it's not scanned. So it's stuff that was taken. >> But if it's not on there, like I said, all they have to do look at the footage. Like I was planning on just Yes, that >> all these. That's No, I I paid for all that. I think I don't know. I'd have to look on the thing. >> This to my knowledge, I thought I paid for all of it. So if that's not on the same, >> they just want you to be honest. The store is pretty good. >> No, I I I am like I say, I I wasn't planning on stealing anything. I swear I scanned everything and I thought it all went through on the on on the on the scan and go like they can if they check her footage like I was not trying to steal a thing. >> Yeah. >> The woman was charged with theft. Shoplifting often depends on evidence, not intentions. If a payment issue occurs, the surveillance footage and transaction records will ultimately determine whether it was an honest mistake or a criminal act. Next, this woman didn't seem to care how serious her crime was. You >> got ID on you? >> I don't. >> Babe, I love you. >> You can go. You can go. >> My $800. >> Well, there's good chance it is. On the 3rd of August 2023, officers received a report from a [music] Safeway store that a woman suspected of shoplifting had returned. When they arrived, the store's loss prevention staff shared additional suspicions about her right now. She's doing today >> today. No. So, what's your >> um So, I definitely want her on trespassing. >> Okay. >> Um sorry. And I have like the camera parts pulled up from yesterday, too. >> Okay. >> And it's a massive cart. It's $800 plus. >> Okay. >> And then on the 23rd, >> did she just walk out with it? Did she see that item? >> Yeah. No, she just walked out >> uh yesterday with that like that one that Yeah, she just went out. Um and then on the 23rd, I called you guys. She she didn't steal anything that day, but she was she was going to and I scanned it all out. It was like 7:35. She left it over there. Um the officer who came in said, which I understand, like there's nothing really about that. Um but that's what I'm saying. Like I know she's going to steal, so I asked her trespass. I don't that's her. As soon as the woman was spotted, officers quickly approached her. However, the moment they closed in, she immediately walked away as if trying to disappear. Hey, ma'am. Let me talk to you for a second. So yesterday sounds like you walked out with quite a bit of cart of groceries. >> I did. >> Yeah. No. No. >> No. >> The man accompanying her immediately walked away as soon as officers approached the woman, seemingly realizing what was about to happen. Even after she was detained, she repeatedly tried to talk to him, but he had no intention of coming back. >> Well, right now you're going to be detected until I figure it out. >> Dude, I love you. I love you. >> At a minimum, you're getting trespassed from the store. >> That's fine. That's fine. >> And then if you're on video stealing, you better not lie to me. You understand? >> You better not lie to me. >> I might be. >> You might be lying to me. >> We have the female detents. >> Got warrants. >> I might. I don't know. >> You got ID [music] on you? >> I don't. >> Babe, I love you. >> You can go. You can go. I love you. >> What's your phone? >> Can I give him my phone? >> What's your >> You have her phone? >> No, he needs my phone. >> You need your phone? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I love you. >> I don't know what I'm going to get out. >> Huh? >> What's your name? >> Kelsey. K E L S E Y. Last name is Zul. Z O S E L. >> Sorry. Spell again. >> Z O S E L. What's your metal initial? >> A >> date of birth? >> 5289. >> Hey, I love >> If you have warrants, what they're What are they for? >> Shocking. A5 and >> I love you babe so much. Last of Zebra Ocean Sam Edward Lincoln first of Kelsey King Edward Lincoln Sam Edward Young Middle AM 52 of 89. >> Oh, baby. I love you so much. >> The woman was then taken to the loss prevention office where officers reviewed the surveillance footage of the previous day's shoplifting incident. >> That's I don't know if there's anything that was the other night. Okay, >> that's her fatty cart. That's the one from that night. >> Okay. >> I don't know if that's whatever, but that's yesterday. >> So, you want to pursue charges for that? She's got a whole bunch of >> Yeah, >> you do. >> So, it is 8 to 2023. What do you do? Do you have what time she entered the store? >> Oh, enter. Uh, and then you're looking at potential charges from yesterday as long as it sounds like the video lines up. Um, I don't know the exact dollar amount whether that's going to be a misdemeanor or felony. It sounds like you had a cart full of stuff. So, the cut off for the felony is 750 bucks. Sounds like what you had in that cart was pretty close. So, we'll see. Either way, it's going to be a a new charge and then you're going to get booked on your your warrants tonight. I mean, >> I'm going to get another charge though >> potentially. Yeah. or yesterday. >> You might want to have a talk with your getaway driver and have him not park in a [ __ ] handicap spot. >> Yeah. Stage four. >> Like, >> so I am going to jail. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. For the for the warrants at a minimum. I mean, we can't we can't walk away from a felony organized death warrant. So, she came out from like checking her getaway. >> So, that's a 609 enters. >> She's going to grab her cart. She's looking over here the entire time. >> Is her cart already full? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, she's already shopped. So, >> yeah, >> she enters the store at some point, grabs a cart. >> She's kind of trying to make sure that no one over here. >> The registers are on the other side. She's clearly looking around. See, just get it. >> Clearly, she was still wearing the same clothes, making it nearly impossible to deny what she had done. But she didn't seem ashamed at all. And when officers asked why, she bluntly replied, >> "Okay, if you want to talk to me about what happened yesterday, that's >> your broke don't have anything." Where do you live? Um I don't know six six in >> six in Spokane. >> Okay. Six. Isn't that down by the grocery alley? >> Yeah. >> Are you stay at the shelter or just is that where you stay? >> No, that's where I live. Yeah. >> You live there? Okay. And then So why are you coming out to Cheni to steal? >> I want at the lake. >> Which lake? >> Silver. >> Silver Lake. Well, I mean, you stole yesterday. You stole $800 worth of stuff. It looked like >> a pretty full cart. That's what they're guesstimating. You see the cost of anything? >> $800. >> Well, there's a good chance it is. Right now, without without a receipt, I'm going to charge you with that third. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. It's going to be a misdemeanor cuz I can't substantiate the the full felony. But you're on camera [music] walking out without paying with a cart full of stuff, >> right? Do you refute that at all? >> What do you mean? >> Are you disagreeing with that yesterday? What happened? Is that pretty much what happened? You came in, loaded up a cart, and left. >> Um, no. >> That's not what happened yesterday. >> I don't know. >> You didn't come in here and steal yesterday? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? >> Okay. >> Even as the officer explained the charges she could be facing, her concern didn't seem to be the consequences of her actions. All right. Well, they want to they want to pursue charges. So, I'm going to refer that to the prosecutor for that. And you're going to get booked on your warrants, too. >> So, what other charges am I getting? >> The third arrest. >> So, you are in arrest at this point. >> Okay. >> Is there any way I can get drink water? >> Uh, no. I think the jail will have to take care of that. Okay. Now, were your cuffs bothering you to the point where you need a chain chain cuffs instead? All right. Stand up. The woman was charged with shoplifting and trespassed from the store. Shoplifting may seem like an easy solution in the moment, but it often leads to arrest, criminal charges, and lasting consequences. A single poor decision can create problems that last far longer than the temporary benefit. >> Arabic me everything in my Arabic. >> Stop. >> Don't touch. Don't touch, please. Don't touch, please. 1 minute. On the 28th of March 2026, officers were dispatched to the store after receiving reports that a woman previously caught shoplifting had returned. It was her second time attempting the same scheme at the store. But this time, she wasn't able to walk away. >> Oh, hello, ma'am. We need to talk to you. I need you to come with me. No, we need you to come in the office. Okay. >> Leave the car. Leave the car. >> Go in the Go in the office, please. I need you to have a seat back here for me. Okay. Have a seat for me in the back. >> The back? >> No. Have a seat. Sit down. >> Sit down. >> Yeah. Do you have an ID on you? >> ID? >> Yeah. A driver's license. Something. >> What you need? >> Hm. >> What you need? >> I need your ID. >> You're being stabbed with a suspicion retail fab. >> What? >> Password retail fab. >> They have your receipt. >> Okay, that's all I need. The investigation became more difficult as the suspect claimed she barely understood English and spoke only Arabic. In reality, she appeared to understand what the officers were saying. She continued denying everything. >> Do you understand English pretty well or no? >> No English. >> No English. >> Just a little bit. >> A little bit. >> Okay. So So you're being stopped right now. You're technically detained, which means you're not free to leave. Okay. For the suspicion of retail theft. Do you know what that means? Like when you steal from a store, when you take something without paying? >> No. >> Okay. Cuz there was a couple things on the video there. >> No. >> Okay. >> You don't understand. Okay. See, I'm trying to get you trying to see how I can make you understand. What language do you speak? Like, what's your name? >> Arabic. >> Arabic. Yeah. >> Arabic. >> What? What's Hab? >> Okay, hold on. >> No. Understand with me. No, I'm not Ahab. >> What you need? I don't know. In story in on receipt. >> Yeah. One second. >> One more. >> Yeah. >> Receipt. >> She say me in in the eights. Me in Chicago. Not in here. She say coming in here. No, she say wa me in Chicago and at Mars. Not in here. Coming in here in Eid Mubarak in my brother. Okay. >> No, in here. Me in Chicago. >> Okay. Well, we we'll talk about it here in a second. Okay. Just >> she say my Ramadan in Chicago. Not here. >> Okay. Hold on. >> I said okay. I I I need talk in brother. She say no me look in receipt. Look in in the story to I need think at this thing. 1 minute. She say I need I need >> It's okay. Yeah. Okay. So, just take a seat here. >> Yeah. Well, I need a manager. I need a manager. She say no. I 1 minute. >> Well, that's the only reason why we're here. >> She say crazy. >> Okay. Well, just take a seat. Okay. Just take a seat. Like I said, okay. And we'll figure this out. >> We'll figure this out. She insisted that she had never been there before, but it was clearly untrue because the store's loss prevention team had a different story to tell. >> She thinks she wasn't here. She was in Chicago. >> That's true. >> I've got her um her license plate if we need to confirm it. See if that was the same car she pulled up in today. >> Wow. Ma'am, >> is that your car? >> No, >> that's not your car. Can you go back to the picture of her? >> It's also the same clothes she was wearing. in in Hzbar. This is the car in Hezbollah. >> So that's not you. >> Look, >> look at the date. 3826. >> No, no, in here in Chicago. No, in the in my Arabic 1 minute in Arabic. In Arabic me everything in my Arabic nothing in hijab. My my my sister. Look, >> you're wearing this one minute. Okay, we're not going to Okay, listen. We're not going to argue this. No, we're not doing this. >> At that point, the officer made his decision. The woman continued denying everything as if the language barrier she had claimed earlier had never existed. >> We're not doing this. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> We are not doing this. Take this off. >> We're not going to do this with you. Turn around and put your hands behind your back. >> We're not going to do this. STOP. >> DON'T TOUCH. DON'T TOUCH. PLEASE. Don't touch. Please. 1 minute. 1 minute. >> We don't got 1 minute right now. >> 1 minute. 1 minute. I need talk in brother. 1 minute. 1 minute. >> You can talk to him from the county. You can call him all you want over there. >> My baby, me and baby in the home. I need talk. >> I'm pretty sure you're not going to leave him out there by himself. I'll let you make phone calls out there. >> 1 minute. >> Come on. I'll take you out to my car. >> 1 minute. No. 1 minute. I need >> Do you want Do you want another charge for resisting? Do you want another charge for resisting? >> What? >> Do you want to get charged for resisting? >> Then just cooperate. >> Understand? >> Just cooperate. I'm going to walk you out to my car. >> What? >> I'm going to walk you out to my car. Okay, we're going to talk out there. >> No, understand. I need in talk. I need talk in the brother. Come any brother. No me. No me. I ass stop. No me. She say no me. Wa know me in my sister in ns in in dress and ns in in the hair. N in the sh. Stop. Don't touch. Don't touch. Please don't touch. You're not [laughter] going to make any [screaming] I don't care. In Palestine it need to bleed. Please. >> Moments later, as the woman continued to resist, a backup officer arrived to assist. It also became clear that her actions could lead to an additional charge. >> Well, come on. Let's go. Just say no, please. >> Ma'am, please. We're [laughter] going to make it up. Ma'am, >> you're going to pick up charges. Get off. >> Okay, people. I need talk in brother. [laughter] I need talk in the brother. >> No, we're not doing that right now. I told you no. >> I need talk in the brother, please. No, not in not in number. Not in >> No, I haven't checked her yet. >> You got anything on you? >> No. No. In the car. >> Before she was taken to the police station, [music] the store also made its own decision regarding her actions. >> Need to go take a picture or two. >> Oh. Uh >> that uh trespass is also lifelong. It won't be able to be taken away. >> Okay. >> You go. >> No. No. In picture. No. With me in picture. No. >> Okay. Well, they have you picture. Why? >> You didn't want to talk. You didn't want to let me read you Miranda warning. So >> why? I tried to explain that to you, but you wouldn't let me. So, that's the reason. Okay. >> The previous incident involved approximately $420 worth of unpaid merchandise. While this time, the total came to about $138 after the receipt was adjusted. In the end, 28-year-old Dena Oasisa was transported to the Peoria County Jail and charged with retail theft. No matter how many excuses someone makes, evidence and repeated dishonesty will only make the situation worse. get far. >> You know, I got babies. I got to get back to I didn't know nothing. >> On the 3rd of June 2024, police received a report from Walmart about a group of professional shoplifterss operating inside the store. At that moment, officers and loss prevention employees stopped them. But of course, the suspects had already prepared a way to cover themselves. No, >> I need a secret. I got an online receipt. That's not an online receipt. That's That's not online. >> That's online receipt. >> That's not online. That's what gave me. That's supposed to have a serial number on there. Where serial number? >> That's what they That's what my mom said. >> That's not That's not an online receipt. So, we do two things. My receipt don't look like that. >> That's That's what she said to me. >> That's not an online receipt. I'm telling you. So unless you want to get in trouble, that's not the online. >> I don't care what they sent you, but that's not ID. >> You walked out with it. All online. >> I showed the customer. No, listen to me. All online orders are picked up in on in online. A fake online receipt had been prepared so they could walk out with whatever they wanted. The man clearly showed his frustration after realizing the plan had been exposed, but the woman was the one who suddenly did something unexpected. Don't pick up radio. I got a female running from the Walmart. Can't see where it >> she's right here running through the parking lot. Get your ass down. Get down right now. >> I didn't do nothing. >> Yeah. Get down. >> Has nothing to do with it then. >> Get down. >> Don't Don't rush me up. I'll get down. I will get down. >> Put your hand behind your back. Do it now. >> I will get down >> on my phone. my phone, man. I didn't Well, I don't got no numbers in my phone. No, them folks. I didn't HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT. >> Unlike what she claimed, her decision to run away and even ditch her jacket to change her appearance made her look pretty experienced at this. Even worse, she was already trying to shift the blame onto her accomplice. >> I just wanted to start with them and they told me to hold the car. Stand up. I didn't. >> You ruined all that running >> because I have kids. >> Well, that's your fault. >> I didn't know they had none OF THAT GOING ON. >> I'M A RUNNER REAL QUICK. >> PLEASE. Put your legs in. >> Relax in. >> Put your legs in. >> No. Can we not close the door? >> Yeah. We got to close. >> Stay right there. Hey, how about to uh Walmart? >> Cuz I didn't know none of this was going on. They sent me. >> Meanwhile, one officer stayed inside the loss prevention office to review everything. And all the evidence pointed to the group working together the entire time. >> I stopped him. I saw him coming. When I was bringing that other TV back in, I saw him coming with another TV cuz he was with him. And I said, "Let me see your receipt." He showed me the same picture the other guy tried to see him. >> Oh, they're trying to see him. We got >> All right. Her dumb ass jumped over the the [laughter] long line behind the Oliver. I'm like, you ain't got nowhere to go. I'm like, you hear the sirens? You might run for me, but the radio you ain't going to outrun the radio. >> There is some real cuz one >> How much was that TV? >> Well, it's two of them. So, they 420 a piece. >> Oh, perfect. >> They are working together. >> So, but he took off though. >> Yeah, he took off. I mean, I can only charge her for one TV, though, cuz she only came out with >> That's fine. Yeah. >> How much is the the single TV? Oh, >> was it 428? It's on the receipt. Back at the scene, as the suspect was escorted back by officers, what would you do if you were in her position? Accept the consequences of your actions or react like she did by trying to make herself look pitiful. >> Okay. >> Is that too tall? >> No. I got babies. I got to get back to I didn't know. I'm unaware. I need to get >> I need something to drink my so I can swallow. >> Let me see if I can find some. I don't have anything on me. >> Thank you. >> Let me see if that is. >> Oh my god. >> Look at me. Let me see. >> Oh my. >> Look at Make sure you're coming. Okay. Stay right there. >> I'm the only one. the only one we call right now. >> Huh? Sa. Please don't. >> Just calm down. I know you're upset. I understand that. But just give a second. Okay. Sit back. Why you so Why is your Why are you so wet? Did you fall in the water? >> Just sit back. >> I don't know about you. >> Just sit back. She acted sorry afterward, but if she had not run, things could have ended differently. And she should have known that because this was not her first time. >> So these are two misdemeanors. >> Uh, yep. >> Yes. Two misdemeanors. You say you've been arrested in the past? >> Yes. >> For what? >> Um, >> same thing. Obstruction. >> Obstruction like running? >> Yeah. When you resist arrest pretty much. >> Yeah. I got um then I got um domestic violence. I know it's been a similar situation like this when I was in like a um she's a 16 year old like 14 year old. She said she was around my age when I was 19. >> Mhm. >> And she went to Walmart and she started uh stealing in there and I didn't know anything about it and I went out and I walked out with her just by me walking out with her. That's when we had two videos. >> Are you on probation? >> Because she was underage. Are you on probation? >> No. >> I just I don't understand why you ran. I mean, you you make I went >> in there to give me some drugs. >> Okay. But you make you make it worse by running. >> Huh? >> All you had to do was be honest. >> Yeah. Yes. And I was honest. >> Okay. But then you ran. So >> I ran. >> That that makes you look like you weren't being honest. >> In the end, she was charged with petty theft, shoplifting, and obstruction of justice. She should be held accountable for her actions and understand that running only made the situation worse and strengthened the case against her. Next, this man also played the victim just as convincingly. >> Guy trying to get a stop, he pushes him or something and then he smacks him. >> Does he have no repercussions for slapping me across the face >> because you walked up to him? >> On the 30th of September 2025, officers were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report of a battery. The suspect was accused of tearing up another man's petition paperwork while he was collecting signatures. To better understand what happened, let's hear the victim's account of the incident. >> Hello, sir. >> Hello. >> Would you mind coming and talk to me over? >> So, I was petitioning right here and I had a gentleman actually signing. So, while I was signing, I pitched that guy that's in there. So, he came, grabbed my board, >> tore up all my paperwork in front of me, and then I was like, "Dude, what are you doing?" So I went and said, "Hey, what are you doing?" So he pushed my hand and that's when I pushed him. So then he said he I assaulted him. So I'm like, "Bro, how you how assaulted you if you coming over here and you're tearing up my paperwork?" >> Okay. >> Yeah. So I mean I'm like I don't know what's going on with him. >> Do you want to go try to contact the RP? Do you have your ID on you? Is that for me? >> What does that guy look like? >> He's sitting right there. >> The officer then contacted the suspect who remained completely calm and claimed that he was actually the victim. >> Hello officer. Good. How are you? >> Good. >> Just gonna explain to you. >> Yeah. So, I'm not sure why this guy hasn't been trespassed off the property and Walmart told me that they tried to get him picked off three times. >> Okay. What happened today? >> So, I went up and uh he handed me a petition and I ripped one of the pages and then he came up and slapped me across the face. >> All right. So, he came from behind the table, walked around and slapped him in the face. >> No, no. I came up to the table like on this on the short side of the table right there. >> Exiting. >> Yeah, I was exiting. >> Okay. >> Um I came up to the table. He handed me a petition. I ripped the petition and then uh he used his left hand to slap me across the uh the side of my face. >> Did he say anything or >> Yeah. Just yelled at me. Remember exactly what he said. >> Okay. You have your ID? >> Yep. So obviously my partner wants So we got a call. You didn't call, right? >> No, he called. >> Yeah, he called. >> He called and the store called. Okay. >> Um, so all we got in our initial call was that he he claimed that he got hit in the face by somebody. >> Yeah. >> So I have like I had somebody sign it, right? The guy actually the the state trooper got his information. The guy was waiting. Okay. >> And he'll tell you everything. We were standing right there and the and like I said, dude just came out of nowhere and just I pitched him. Use this. >> Okay. I'm like, >> and was this for things that were already signed or can I see it? >> Okay. Interesting. All right. >> The suspect accused the victim of assaulting him instead. Officers then confronted the victim about the allegation. And once again, the two accounts of what had happened were completely different. >> I pitched him. I said, "We're trying to stop boys from getting in girls sports." What he did was he took my boys, split it, and then pushed it in front of me. >> Okay? >> And that's when I retaliated. There was a guy standing right here. The dude said, "Dude, what are you doing? If you didn't agree with it, you didn't have to tear up the paperwork." He was like, "Oh, yeah. Well, if you want to if you want to hit me again, I'll call the police." I said, "You know what? Call the police." Cuz he said, "Oh, you just assaulted me. Go ahead and call the police because this doesn't make any sense." >> So, when you say you retaliated, what do you mean by that? >> So, when he he pushed the uh the board to me and that's when I pushed him back. >> Okay. So, just like pushed him to get away. >> Yeah, cuz he was he was literally in my face. I'm I was standing right here. He was standing like literally right here in my face. So >> look at the cameras real quick, too. >> Yeah, >> cuz he's saying that you slapped him in the face. >> Yeah. No, I did. I I But that's after he pushed me That's after he pushed me in my boards. >> Okay. >> So, it's just in retaliation. >> Gotcha. >> Yeah. >> Simply listening to the statements from those involved was not enough. The officers asked Walmart's loss prevention team for assistance [music] and reviewed the surveillance footage of what had happened. You can't really see because they're in a weird spot. Okay, this is But you can see this is him, starts ripping it up right there. Guy trying to get a stop. He pushes him or something and then he smacks him >> cuz it kind of looks like he almost does a swing at him. >> He did a little thing like >> right and he just missed. >> Right. >> All right, we'll be right back. So, we we took a look at the video. Based on what I saw, I mean, it looks like he was kind of the aggressor in this situation. You were just kind of pushing. >> I was trying to listen the whole time cuz I'm not going to lie, I don't know if you guys seen it on the news. We've been getting a lot of flax for this. >> And this is a lot of people think it's against transgender and it's not. What it is is basically making sure uh we protect girls and girls sports. So, what's been happening? If you guys watch the Olympics, you seen two transgenders like uh >> competing for him. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. No, I got you. So, one one of the things I just want to get at is we're going to see if Walmart just wants to like trespass him, get him off the property. >> Okay. >> Would you want to go any further than that and like pursue any >> Yeah, cuz man, cuz make him so he doesn't try to do this with any other other people because like how am I going to turn that in? So now I got to sit down and I got to try to pace this up so that it can go through so that they can actually count this towards getting it on the ball. >> Yeah. And honestly like one of the problems we're running into is like I feel like that's got to be a crime somehow. I I just I just don't know which one it is. Right. So we're kind of looking a little bit to see. >> Yeah. Cuz this is it's it this crazy, man. Look at this. >> What's happening is whatever group they're in, they're actually they're on Facebook. So they telling them that wherever locations we're at, hey, they're they're at this location. This is what's going on with them. >> Okay. >> Yeah, but I'll pursue him. >> The officers had a clear understanding of what had happened, and shortly afterward, they explained their decision to both parties. >> Um, but we're also going to give him a trespass. So, we're going to make sure that he leaves the property up. >> Okay. Yeah. Cuz I'm I'm going leave. I'm going to leave, too. Cuz I >> I had too many people calling like, "Yo, are you okay?" I'm like, "Yeah, I'm okay. I'm not shook or nothing." Yeah, just like I was like way out of No, I got I'm like, man. >> All right, let me talk to this guy. >> All right, David, there's your ID back. So, what's going to happen today is the first thing is they are going to have you trespass. They want you to come back onto Walmart property. So, this is a trespass notice that's valid for 3 years from today's date. If you come back, you risk being arrested. Uh, I'm not. Yeah, it's just this one. >> All right. So, I'll have you sign that real quick. >> Is he going to be trespassed? >> Nope. >> What's going to happen? >> I'll explain that in there. Copy. This is going to be a criminal citation for you for malicious mischief. All right. So, on the top here, you're going to have a court date. All right. >> Do you have any other questions? >> The officer's decision did not seem to satisfy the man. He questioned [music] the officers, insisting that he wanted the victim to face punishment just as he did. >> I I want to know why he can slap me across the face and have no repercussions. >> Why does he have no repercussions for slapping me across the face? >> Because you walked up to him, >> took his property, ripped it, and then pushed him, and he responded by defending himself. >> I did not push him. >> Okay. The video shows otherwise. And you damage his property. >> I did not push him. Okay. Well, you damaged his property and there was some kind of altercation prior to >> Yeah. He was slapping me across the face. >> Can I tell you something? You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be used against you in the court of law. You can exercise this right at any time. >> Do you want to keep talking? >> He slapped me across the face. >> Okay. Okay. Why did you whip up the documents right in front of him? The signatures. And why did you shove it right into his chest forceful motion? >> That's what it looks to be in the video. So, why did you do that? >> I was I'm I'm not going to answer. Okay. But you do have to leave the property. >> I just >> I just want to know why he's not being like >> he just gets away with it. >> No, he doesn't get away with it. But you are trespassing. >> I would like to speak to a sergeant. >> That's not going to happen today. You can call. >> You have to leave the >> If you refuse to leave, we're going to arrest you. >> This is ridiculous. I mean, like, >> are you kidding me? >> You can explain that all at your court date, >> but you need to leave the property. extremely messed up. >> In the end, the man was charged with malicious mischief, issued a scheduled court date, and trespassed from Walmart for 3 years. Destroying someone else's property and provoking a confrontation can quickly turn you from a complainant into the person facing criminal charges. Actions matter more than claims, and surveillance footage often determines what really happened. Next, the woman was left to face regret over the action she had caused. >> Need back to jail? >> You're going to jail, too? No, >> tomorrow. >> I'm not mad at you, okay? Me personally, I'm not. And I forgive you and I don't want you to hate yourself. On the 15th of February, 2026, police were dispatched to Wawa after receiving reports of a theft that had occurred carried out by the store's own cashier. To clarify the situation further, officers collected direct statements from the manager to better understand the incident. >> Yeah. Um, I had um I had a a large cash variance and I was like what's going on and we were reviewing >> they were crazy. So I take money, put it in her pocket, take money and walk away with it and [clears throat] then come back without >> I don't know for sure she's going to admit to we have witnessed her steal. It's kind of hard to see and remember like [laughter] exactly when the dollar bill owes her but I was telling him I was short $1,000 in my registers last month. I'm not going to say it was all her, but >> what's up, buddy? All right, man. >> How we doing? >> All right. >> How you doing, sir? >> Good. >> She said she was sh right now. >> Okay. >> Um, she said what would happen next is I will go in and I'll read out loud so she can hear what she wrote and then I'll step out when you guys have dollar amounts and something. >> I don't know. It's okay. >> All right. Okay. We have misdemeanor felony. If it's >> ongoing, it's felony. If it's an ongoing scheme, >> if it's a scheme, it's an automatic felony. No matter how much it is >> because it's a scheme, >> like just a different day is taken. >> Scheme. Yep. So, if it's ongoing process that she's done doing every day, it's automatic felony. You got a dollar amount. And if it's >> um felony anyway, it's felony anyway. So, >> shortly after the police approached the suspect in the case. Her anxiety was clearly shown as she had to hold a trash can while feeling nauseous. cannot answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand these rights as I explain them to you? >> Yes. >> Okay. Having these rights in mind, are you willing to answer any of our questions now? >> Okay. >> You kind of want to tell me in your own words what's going on, what what's happened and just got behind on like like so much stuff. And my boyfriend works, but he gets paid twice a month. Mhm. And my mom is on social security, so like she helps me out as she can. And I really just was freaking out because my electric was behind. I just got my new car, but cuz my other cars broke down, I was literally having to get rides here. [snorts] It's just stupid. Like honestly, I I've never done nothing like this before in my life. Like I literally I I honestly like it's not who I am. I don't >> We're not here to judge you. >> People People have all kinds of reasons and it just happens unfortunately. So do you have any idea how much how much you you've taken over the time? Did you talk to them about it or? >> Yeah. Um like honestly I never really like counted it but I never didn't want to take a lot. like I didn't want to like rob the place like that, you know, like >> whether her circumstances are a reasonable excuse for repeatedly committing theft. And even at this point, she is still surprised that she is going to jail for what she caused. >> Need to jail. >> You're going to jail today? >> No. >> You are broken. >> I'm not going to lie to you. So So we'll give you an opportunity if you need to >> call somebody about your child, if you need to call. He's with my boyfriend. >> Okay. >> Juliet, >> listen. >> I've known him 16 years. And >> listen, this was just a mistake that's made. You know, this is You should meet with the judge in the morning or you can bail out tonight depending on >> Okay, I will walk you through everything. I promise. Okay, just in your own words, tell me what you did. I don't need all the apology. I mean, if you want to add it in there, you can, but I don't need all the just basically what you did and what happened. We don't know the dollar amount yet, but we know it's been >> Yeah, she said I mean from what she said in her act, she already read a statement for my asset protection and said it was about $80 per week for the last month or so. So, we can obviously we'll do a video on that. >> Yeah, probably between two and $400 somewhere around there. >> Okay. >> But she said on her statement that she worked for them $80 a week for the last month. So, you're looking at $320. >> Okay. Was she doing it daily? Was she doing her once once once a week? Was she >> once once when she while she was working? Like >> a week she would just come in and just swipe on register one time. >> Yeah. >> The police confirmed that although the total loss was $320, the repeated nature of the actions meant the case was treated as a systematic fraud scheme rather than a single act of theft. At this point, they explained what charges she would be facing. >> My car is going to get towed. >> Your car's here? No. >> My car's not going to get towed? >> No. No, they're not going to. No, you you can make arrangement. So, let's say your bail was $1,000. They want $100 to get you out of jail tonight. So, if you have a hundred bucks, >> you'll be able to get out of jail tonight. Okay. >> Listen, don't let it don't think of that that way. You know, this is >> it is. You don't even know. >> Am I able to use the bathroom? >> Um, not right now. >> You want to call your boyfriend real quick and let him know soon? Curtis, I'm going to jail. I'm going to jail. I'm not kidding. I'm going to jail. >> I have to call you to let you know. >> And in the office with the police officers, I'm my boss. >> Yes. >> All right. Just tell them you got to go. >> Okay. But I got to go. >> Come over here. She needs to talk to you for a second. >> I'm not I'm not mad at you. Okay. Me personally, I'm not. And I forgive you and I don't want you to hate yourself. I saw all of your report. I don't want that for you, right? I just wish you would have asked me because there's nothing I would have done to help you. We have AIN. I could have helped you. Okay. >> What did you think about the actions of the store manager? But a crime was still a crime and the police had taken their actions. >> Um, obviously you're terminated, right? I went ahead and started the system. Can we do this outside? >> No. You guys can take her out the vendor door. Like if you go out here and just go straight through the side. I don't know if you want to do that. >> A little less. [clears throat] >> You'll be all right. >> You'll be all right. You'll be all right. >> Take a right. In the end, the woman was charged with scheme to defraud and petty theft. Financial pressure does not excuse repeated dishonesty. Once theft becomes a pattern, it stops being a mistake and turns into a deliberate scheme. And accountability is inevitable, regardless of personal circumstances. Next, this thief even had the audacity to demand 75 cents back after he was caught red-handed. >> How we going to take something from here? My word, I don't care if it's a dollar to $2 to $19. Why you say you couldn't give me no ticket here? >> Because of your background. Cuz you already have four. >> On the 17th of January 2026, officers were dispatched to Walmart after a man was caught shoplifting inside the store. To make matters worse, he even demanded a refund over a transaction that was short by.75. Here's what happened next. >> For me, I feel like something fake from going to take something from me. If I work hard, I don't care if it's a dollar to $2 to $19. I would hurt you over my money. You hear from HER TRICK STUFF. I KNOW HOW SHE LOOK LIKE. BRO, DON'T CHECK NOTHING FOR ME. >> Don't talk like that though. >> But that's how that's how that's I don't care about. >> Ain't nobody tough in the world. Don't talk like that. >> Me. We're not worried about that. What? Um what's going on? Do you have Did he steal or no? >> Yeah, he basically walked out with something that wasn't paid for and I was trying to talk to him, but he out here getting up on my face like saying I ain't going to do none of that. So >> that's cool. I'm here now. >> Yeah. So, I collected the merchandise that's not paid for and I'm telling him he's not going to get a refund for the merchandise that is not paid for. >> So, he's getting angry. >> Oh, yeah. If he didn't pay for it, >> right? So, that's it. >> What uh you got any sheets? You need anything trespassing? >> No, he has a guy trespass. He doesn't want to come in here. >> Sir, you been trespassed. You got your ID. >> You got your ID on you? >> Under the store's accusations, he denied everything. However, when officers checked the evidence, it quickly became clear that his claims did not match the facts. >> I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't steal nothing. I was trying to I must >> Brother, this a right to work state. You know how to work. >> Look here. Look, I didn't steal nothing. You know, >> look, do you know how to work? >> How what >> a right to work state works. >> Look, I don't I don't know about none of that. They don't [ __ ] They going to [ __ ] me. Now, I feel like that damn [ __ ] me. I'll tell you what, in the world of commerce in in the state of Illinois, if I was on BS with you and I was an agent of any business, I could refuse you the right to service for any reason. I could trespass you just off strength walking in literally cuz I don't like you. >> That's right. >> So, if that's the ability of the law in this state and they want to trespass you for whatever reasons you may deem necessary, you can take that up civily with corporate or you can sign their trespass form or sign mine. >> I paid for it. We don't trust. I paid for everything. I just got something. >> They say you ain't pay for this. >> It's 100 It's 100 It's 100 people in here that walk with me tonight. I paid for it. >> Where your receipt? >> THEY GOT IT. THEY GOT IT. >> They have your receipt. >> They got my receipt. >> Let me see his receipt. >> It's just one red wool. I didn't pay for That's cool. That's cool. >> This your receipt? >> Yes. >> You pay for that? >> I didn't have all four of those, sir. Which one of those did he have? >> Two of those green ones. >> Two green ones. >> Did you pay for them? >> Yes. I thought I did. I paid for one. One in the black. Okay, let me get the one in the black and I'll go back my way. >> Did you pay for >> the two? >> How you feeling, Antonio? >> How you doing, my man? You good? >> Yeah. >> Study long, bro. Study long. >> I got you want to. You don't have to, man. >> What the trespassing? >> You don't want to. You don't have to. You got to come with me, though. He appeared visibly anxious, suggesting he might not have been in a normal state of mind. On top of that, employees gave statements confirming that he had made threatening remarks. >> He was like, "I'm going for this outside." >> He was like, "I'mma wait for this one." >> AJ. >> Yeah. I'm going kill this for $20. I'mma wait for her outside. >> I'm just saying, brother. You got to chill. We can't be emotional. Emotional. Emotional men, bro. Uh, that's emotional men. Man to man, bro. Emotional man is a woman. >> Let's stop being emotional. >> Yes. And I'm black. >> Straight up. >> Me, too. >> This blue didn't cancel out my blackness. So, emotional men are women. We over with with that. >> All right, bro. Thank you. >> How much is the amount? >> Honestly, it's 40ucks. >> Excuse me. Do you have a seat, brother? >> I'm not going to have a seat. All right. I'm not doing this with you, >> bro. Take my [ __ ] dude. Y'all going to start me, bro. >> BROTHER. HEY. Y'ALL Y'ALL THREATEN TO TAKE MY [ __ ] YES. I TOLD LISTEN, >> I listen to him. >> I said don't nobody play about their [ __ ] >> What's he? >> What's he? >> This his people around here about >> ask you a question. What's your first name? >> I'm Arthur. >> I'm Arthur P. Sir. >> Arthur. >> Yes. >> Shortly afterward, the officer reviewed the surveillance footage and confirmed that the man's claims of innocence were simply not true. >> So, he paid for the red ones on this side. He had the monster, the blue one, which he did pay for. And this is the one I wanted to give him a rewind for because he left. >> So a price came up and it was 75 cents and then what happened? >> No, no, he paid for only 75 cents. The rest wasn't paid for and then he walked out with two packs of the green monster and >> so he saying he under What did he ring up that was 75 cents? >> No, that's how much he paid. >> No, I know. >> I get it. So what did he scan that was priced at.75? >> No. And so like there's a way for Walmart to only pay off of how many you want for the card like he took off and he only paid.75 cents for one Visa card. So he just walked away after that. He didn't attempt to pay the rest. >> I see. Yeah. I've been liking. >> And then after that that's when we approach him, go outside, ask for the receipt. I told him that uh what did I tell him? Tell him that I was just stopping him because it was just some paid merchandise. And then he was like, "Well, which one was it?" He's like, "The monsters." And he's like, "You going to stop me for $20?" cool. >> And I'm all like, "Yeah, but you know, like the end of the day, I started to do my job. It's just some merchandise. That's it." >> He gets agitated. He's realized that he's not stealing. I'm like, "I'm not saying you're stealing. It could be an accident. You know, accidents happen." >> He gets upset. [laughter] >> Arthur, you're making this process longer. I get to hear your story and then her story. >> Just have a seat, Arthur. >> So, I removed He was like, "Get your [ __ ] Just get your [ __ ] so I can get out of here." >> So, I put away the ripples. These two weren't paid for it. So I told him he wasn't going to get a refund for it because he's technically supposed to get a refund >> because he didn't walk out with the one that he was paid for. >> He left the building, said he was going to come back that he wanted his ship when they said that he came back. He came back inside the building talking to the blue stars. He's telling him that he's going to wait until I come out of work so that he can. >> In addition, after checking the name he provided, officers quickly discovered that he had an extensive criminal history, prompting them to immediately place him under arrest. >> So, every day, >> all right, you got lar in your background, brother, that we got to take you in. >> It's extensive larseny. >> No, it's not. >> What the boss? Did you talk to him? >> Did you talk? Uh, he got four. >> Yeah. >> Here's the deal, man. I tried to get you a ticket, but unfortunately got >> I'm going to jail, bro. They talking about I got something on my back, girl. I'm going down. >> Oh, you be right out. No cash beast. >> No cash buy. You get right out. >> I'll bring you back here. >> Can use your phone while >> you can call them while you're there. >> What I'm going down for? >> You keep your phone. >> I get a ticket. Can you just write me a ticket? >> Yeah, I'm going to give you a ticket over there. >> Not here. >> Why not here? >> Because that's why I asked you if you had Larson in your background. I have told you this. If you told me some [ __ ] bro. He been want to arrest you, bro. >> Not even. Hey, um, >> what I would say is hang up now. Tell him you can call him in 15 minutes. They going to give you your phone when we get to this. When we get there, they give you your phone. >> They give you your phone, brother. >> It's not even He'll see. He'll see. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Why you say you couldn't give me no ticket here? >> Because you're a background. cuz you already have four which means they can't >> you know that better than I do. >> In the end, Arthur was charged with retail theft. A small theft can quickly turn into an arrest, [music] especially if you already have a history of similar offenses. What do you think about cases like this?
