Stop. Grocery police, you're detained. Do not move. Do not move. >> [screaming] >> Okay. Very softly put your hands on the ground. >> Yeah, as she was turning she pulled it put her hand around it and turned around and dropped it out of her hand. >> I have a video as a photo saying that this person has stolen these items from the store. >> In today's world, cameras are everywhere. Yet, it is still hard to believe that some thieves make no effort to hide their faces while stealing, only to end up facing the bitter consequences of their actions. These [snorts] are the moments when Walmart women didn't know they were caught on camera stealing a full cart. Starting with this pharmacist, she even took and ingested drugs stolen directly from her own store. >> It's a felony. >> Oh my god. >> So, it's pretty serious. >> That is serious. >> On the 4th of March, 2025, officers received a report from a CVS pharmacy about a woman believed to be a pharmacist at the store who had taken hundreds of controlled pills without permission. When they arrived, she was brought to the loss prevention office. Here's what happened. >> Hey guys, how you doing? >> Good, how are you doing? >> Hi. >> Hello. >> Good, how are you doing? >> Hey, how are you doing? >> How are you doing? >> I'm doing good. I'm doing good. I'm Shannon from CVS asset protection. >> This is Daniel, he's with CVS asset protection, too. >> This is Sylvia Castellanos. >> What do you say your name is again? >> Castellanos. >> She's a pharmacist at this store. Um, we had uh some zolpidem which is a controlled substance for sleep. Um, and then we had alprazolam which is a mood drug, benzo. Um, so that strength of alprazolam, 0.25, 0.5, and 1 mg are multiple strengths. Two strengths of zolpidem missing from the store. Identified Sylvia on video as being the colleague that's responsible for taking it. Right. Um, so you want to press charges? >> If that's what needs to be done, then that's what we're going to do. >> All right, so you want to press charges? Yes. All right. Do you have your ID on you? Do you have any weapons on you? >> No. >> [clears throat] >> What's the Yeah, I don't know. >> Shortly after, the staff provided more details about the case, explaining [music] how they first discovered what had happened. >> About a week and a half ago, pharmacy manager in this store had a flag on the open 5 mg, where it was showing like 349 tablets off. She escalated that to us. They came to me, and I was assigned the investigator for it. I started looking at it. I went through all the past cycle counts for what we call the inventory period, which would be For us, we we inventory controlled substances every May 1st. So, from May 1st to now, I could see what we call negative cycle counts, so where it looked like somebody was actively taking it. So, I started narrowing it down to who it could be, watching videos and who I thought it could be. Then I found Sylvia on video actually ingesting it. So, you'll see her remove it from the bottle, actually pop a pill, and then swig it down with her water. And there are other times where she'll So, when they do a prescription, they put them in marked vials with a label on it and a bag with a label on the bag, right? But there are times when she would count it out, put it in an unmarked vial, then hide that vial underneath the counter, and then later she'd pour it in her hand or pour it in her pocket, then leave the store. Um so, the video in this store goes back to January the 9th. That's the earliest recorded date that we have. And just about every shift that I watch on her, there were times where she was doing this after close, after everybody left at night. So, the store store usually during the week closes at 7:00. She would stay till almost 8:00 and sometime during that period when there was nobody back there with her, she would do this. >> The staff had previously interviewed the suspect and gathered information about the losses, which she herself admitted to. >> I interviewed her today with Kevin Lynn present as a witness. Um during the interview, she admitted to taking um alprazolam 0.25 mg, alprazolam 0.5 mg, alprazolam 1 mg, um clonazepam 5 mg, and alprazolam 10 mg. >> All right. >> She stated that she was taking it because it helped relieve stress um and make her go home and calm down at night um was the reason she was taking it. She said she'd been doing it for the last 2 to 3 years. And she admitted to ingesting it and admitted to taking it home in her pocket. >> All right, perfect. And it was over a period of 3 years or >> Over 2 to 3 years. She couldn't remember exactly. She said 2 and 1/2 2 to 3 years. >> All right. >> And she admitted to um uh 300 alprazolam 10 mg 100, um clonazepam 5 mg 30, uh alprazolam 0.25 30, um alprazolam 0.5 and 10, alprazolam 1 mg. But she couldn't remember. That's her best guess. She couldn't remember the exact quantities. >> All right, so we just took her on what she was telling us on that part of it. >> So on the system it shows that all of these pills were more than that? >> More than that? >> more than that. >> Okay, that's just what she admitted to. >> That's just what she admitted to. >> The store then provided footage showing the woman repeatedly committing the same [music] acts over a 2-year period, further supporting their allegations. >> Oh, okay. Oh, so they they >> This is going to show her getting it, putting it in her hand, and then going right back here and you'll see her pop it. Ingesting And she popped it and swallowed. Yeah, as she was turning she popped it, put her hand in her mouth. Turned around and swallowed it over here. And then if you watch the other >> Worse, over those 2 years [music] everything she took was without a prescription or authorization, something she eventually had to admit herself. >> Do you have a primary doctor? >> No, I don't. >> Do you get benefits through >> Yes, I did. Did. Yeah. >> So, you're benefiting you get health benefits? Does Does that cover >> Yeah, I should have went to the doctor. My husband always told me to go to the doctor. >> Is your husband aware of this? >> No, he is not. Please don't tell. Well, you're going to find out now. He's not going >> What is What is uh What does CVS charge for one alprazolam pill? >> I don't even know, to tell you the truth. I don't It's not a It's not a money thing. It's not that I sell or anything, so I really don't know how much it is. >> It's not a money thing for you. It's a money thing for them. That's why I'm asking. If you know. >> I don't know. >> You don't know. >> I'm I'm bad with numbers and I don't know. >> Okay. >> Could be a dollar, could be 50 cents. I I don't know. >> And how old are you? >> 65. >> 65, okay. And how long have you been working here? >> This year will be like 15 years in general for CVS. I worked at CVS in Akron, so it's 30 years for the pharmacist with the >> [music] >> company. >> Okay, that's your position, pharmacist? >> Staff pharmacist, correct. I'm stupid. >> You don't have to apologize to me. >> I don't know. I apologize to my and the family and the company and everybody else who knows. >> Only after being arrested did she realize her actions were something to regret, but by then it was already too late. The officer then laid out the charges she would be facing. So, the charge you're more than likely going to be facing is what's called an organized scheme to defraud. >> Oh, good gracious. >> Okay. It's a It's It's a felony. >> Oh my god. >> So, it's pretty serious. >> That is serious. Where I Oh, right now in my bag and my my shirt is in the pharmacy. It's all my fault. >> Is there anything that we're going to find in there that shouldn't be in there? >> No. >> Okay. No No medicine. Did you take any medicine today? >> No. >> Are you sure? >> Mhm. >> So, let me ask you cuz I've I've never I've never used an anti-anxiety medication. >> Uh-huh. >> Have you ever taken Xanax in the past? >> Prior to this? >> Yeah. >> [snorts] >> I was struggling. >> Yeah. >> No, I mean it's just happened in the past couple years. That's it. >> What? >> I was there or I was stressed and I was like, "Oh, pop it." It just relaxes you a little bit, but >> Okay, so is that what you would feel when you would take the Xanax? You would feel relaxed and not as stressed? And you like that feeling? >> Yeah, right. Yeah, it's just wasn't for a high or a kick or anything. It's just like to >> And it's not the charge. It's a felony. What are these? >> Oh, those are for my dog. Oh my god, I need to try to get them off of my dog. >> I I asked you. >> I didn't know I had it with me. >> I asked you. What was that? In her bag? I asked you. >> I didn't know I had it. It's been in there forever. That was when she had surgery. >> So, here's the Here's another What's this? >> I don't know. >> You don't know what that is. Okay. So, I asked you to be honest, right? >> Yeah, I did. >> In the end, she was arrested and charged with theft of a controlled substance and drug-related offenses. Taking controlled medication without authorization can have serious legal consequences, even when it is for personal use. Seeking legitimate medical help is always better than risking addiction, [music] harm, and criminal charges. Next, this woman was even hiding a secret behind the theft of her own. >> Okay. Very softly, take her to the ground. Right, there's nothing to hide, right? They got cameras inside. We were sitting out here waiting for you. We knew what you were doing. It's obvious. >> On the 5th of May, 2025, officers received a call from Dick's Sporting Goods reporting a woman who had been stealing from the store. When officers approached, she was hurriedly trying to leave, but they quickly stopped her. >> Brook City Police, you are detained. Do not move. Stop. Brook City Police, you are detained. Do not move. Do not move. Stop moving. Don't move. Don't move. Hey, give me your hands. Show me your hands right now. Get over here. Move it in 60. Stop moving. Stop. Don't move. >> But I haven't done anything. >> Put your hands where I can see them. Stop. Give me your hands. You are under arrest. Give me your hands. Under arrest. Relax, lady. You are under arrest. Give me your hands. Give me your hands. Okay. Very softly, take her to the ground. All right. I'll take your backpack off. Hey, give me your hands. You're fine. Just put them on your back. You're under arrest. Give me your hands. Give her a pat down. For what? For what? >> For theft. >> Please don't. I apologize. I'll pay for it. Please. >> Too late for that. >> Please, please, please. >> Too late for that. >> The situation became chaotic because of her refusal to cooperate. However, there were still other people in the car, raising questions about their involvement. So, the officers also asked them to step out. >> You said she's with us? Is there somebody else with you? >> My wife, she had to go to She ran into the restroom. She >> Did she? >> Please, please, I apologize. Please, baby. >> Who else is in here? >> One, plus my other female that walked that way a little while ago. >> Okay. With the hoodie up? Okay. >> Yeah, it's all lady. >> Step out. What is What is I need an ID from you. >> Sir? >> Yep. >> I was cuz I was Look, sir, I was cleaning my shoes. I apologize. >> Just ID for us. Roll her aside. >> Please. >> Inspect the lady there real quick. >> The female over here? >> Uh it's just a friend. She asked me to run her to the store just a little bit ago and we was like, "Okay." Me and my wife said that we'd run her to the store cuz she was going to get me gas money to run her to the store. >> So, just a friend? >> Yeah. Like I I don't even know her all that well. Only thing I know is that her name is Mariah. I don't even know her last >> We got 250s and I think we're going to them. >> That's crazy. >> What else is in the car? >> What do you mean, what else is in the car? >> I I don't know what you're saying. I >> Nothing. I I didn't even know that she was coming here for that. I had no clue. She asked me to run her here here to the store. She was going to get me gas money. That's the only thing that I knew. >> What's her name? >> I don't know her last name. Her first name is Mariah. I don't know her last name. I have no idea what her last name is. >> You was giving him some stranger ride? >> No. I've known her for about a month, month and a half. Her name is Mariah, but I do not know her last name. >> It was clear that the woman had done something wrong and regretting it at this point was simply too late. She began making desperate and unreasonable pleas, hoping the officers would let her go. >> Please don't arrest me. >> How old are you? >> I'm 22 years old. Can I please just talk to him? >> You know we're kind of past that point, right? >> So I'm being arrested? >> I don't know yet. >> Please don't arrest me. I won't ever come back here again. >> to first I got to look at a few things. >> got a job and everything. You know, I've just been struggling this week, man. >> I understand. Let's do one thing at a time, okay? Those are all my stuff right here. Do you care? >> I don't care. I mean, I'm not not involved. And none of this this is over my head. It blows me away. I can't believe any of this. Now I'm pissed. >> Whose car is this? >> Um my wife's Me and my wife just bought it. >> Who's your wife? >> Uh >> Where is she at? >> Um she just used She just went over there to use the restroom. She was going to try to grab me a chicken sandwich, too. >> We'll have to put this as well. >> Is all the merchandise still on you? >> Yes. >> Do you have an ID with you or not? >> I don't. 1020 I was going to bring it over to your town. >> Okay. >> I just got a job at TJ's and everything. I don't want to lose my job. >> Which TJ's? >> The one on Carson. >> Okay. >> The officers then recovered the stolen merchandise and returned it to the store. >> Get her all written up here. And then this is what was in the fitting room. She had these bags just like the stuffing. All right. Huh? >> Those are hers. She's definitely on drugs. >> And my guess is this is >> Yeah, as soon as I saw her I thought >> Stuff to throw away if that's yours. Okay. So this was in her bag, just stuff to stuff it with? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, my Yep, I'll just Will my body cam capture that? All right, if you would just run up a a dummy receipt and then bring it out to me when you're done. Do you have any written statements in here, too? >> I should have some out. >> Okay. Anything illegal in the car? >> Wrapped up in some dumb ass [ __ ] Stupid. >> What made you hop over into the driver's seat when you saw her coming out? >> I'm sorry. >> So, what made you hop over in the driver's seat when you saw her coming out? >> Because she was on her way out of the store, I figured I was going to go over here to my wife since she was already done at the store or whatever. I didn't I had no idea she was in a feeling anything. >> Okay. That's all I'm just what I'm asking. >> out here. >> What are you doing? >> Clearly, the suspect woman pleaded not to go to jail, but it seemed her remorse was only an act as she still believed she did not deserve this. The officer had to speak frankly [music] and explain the situation to her. >> Oh my god. >> What do you mean don't think you're going to jail? You resisted arrest. >> No, I didn't. >> Do you remember me telling you you're under arrest or under arrest put your hands behind your back? >> Yeah, I wasn't trying to resist arrest. >> When you don't comply with my order? >> I did though. >> No, but you didn't. We had to actually take you to the ground to force your hands behind your back. >> No, I was I wasn't trying to resist arrest. >> I have body cam footage of it. >> I was just trying I was just freaked out, babe. I promise you. >> Freaking out, whatever you want to call it, not not complying with a lawful order. >> I wasn't trying to do that. I promise. >> telling you I'm just telling you what it is. >> The situation did not end there. Officers also noticed several suspicious signs inside the car prompting them to immediately question the other woman. >> Is there any drugs in the car? There's a piece of foil right there. >> I'm sorry. >> I just asked is there any drugs in the car? There's foil right there. >> all my drugs. >> Huh? >> I've done my I've done all my drugs. I I mean >> There's none in there what you're saying? >> No, I mean there might be a roach or something from weed or something in there, but no unless she had had some drugs in there, but I don't think she did, but >> Okay. >> I'm just being dumb and I'm so mad at myself. >> Do you have a dope problem? What do you use? I do this every day and literally 99% of people I talk to have a problem that they can't support through theft. So, what so what so what is it? Crack, meth, fentanyl, heroin? Crack? Okay. When was the last time you used? You're not dope sick, so when was the last time you used? Huh? Earlier? Okay. How much do you use a day? >> A little bit. >> A little bit? So, is this >> you in here stealing trying to support a habit? Don't lie about here. It's obviously we caught you in the act, right? There's nothing to hide, right? They got cameras on site. We were sitting out here waiting for you. We knew what you were doing. It's obvious. I'm just trying to hear the word of mouth from you cuz that's what's going to go in my report. That's going to that's going to go in front of a judge. So being honest and truthful. If you got if you got problems, we're going to try to help you through those cuz we don't want to see you in here. Okay. >> The woman was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest while the other woman was cited for drug possession and released at the scene. Lying and resisting arrest only made the situation worse. Once the evidence was clear, cooperating with officers would have been a far better choice than refusing their commands and denying what had happened. Worse, this woman had even left her family member alone just to go shoplifting. >> Call me with this box. >> the rest of this stuff. >> property. Room 123. I'll try to call you again in a little while, but yeah, I need you to pick up that man. >> On the 7th of November, 2024, officers stopped a woman who was allegedly pushing a cart full of merchandise out of the store with further suspicious activity behind it. When the officers arrived, she became tense and denied all the allegations against her. >> I have not shoplifted before. >> All right. >> The man right here just confirmed that he seen me come in with this box. This is my TV. I don't know what dude's problem is. >> Let's go get all taken care of. >> I didn't want to touch this stuff at the door cuz I wanted my receipt for it. Come on. >> device >> Yeah. >> He wanted me to set my feet down. >> Let's go. >> No, he's blocking the downstairs. >> it out in the LP office. >> He's telling >> Sir, I don't have >> He just seen me just seen me come in with my box. >> You do. And then at least >> But he seen me come in with this stuff, sir. We stopped right here asking do we need a [ __ ] a sister? He said no. >> talking about, bro. I'm not going back in there with this >> my TV. >> Well, we do need to go back in there and get it figured out. >> Well, y'all go figure it out and I'll sit right here. >> You're not go You're not going with the TV. You're going to go back inside and figure it out. >> But sir, we can't go back >> I'm going with my >> This still, right? The TV? Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. >> I came in >> And the man just confirmed that the door he seen me coming with this box. >> You seen the box of the stuff I came in with this box. But I came in with this. I came in with >> Thank you for going and figuring that out. You got to figure out what You going to walk over there yourself or are we going to take you over there? >> Take me to the loss prevention. Take me to the >> You're telling me we need to go over to LP office? If we If we have to, yeah. >> While While I'm getting cooked in You take the TV while I'm getting cooked in. >> The woman in the white shirt was being difficult with the officers' requests, but she was not the main suspect. The other woman, identified as 25-year-old Aubreyana, was allegedly caught concealing $100 worth of merchandise in her bag. However, the case was still far from easy to resolve as both women remained completely silent. >> You moving again? >> My wallet. >> ID? >> I don't know. >> You got to put it on the ground. Ma'am, can you please sit down? >> Well, I'm sitting down for >> Cuz you asked me to sit down. This is what he can do. He can He can stop talking. You have an ID in your wallet? Ma'am, you have an ID in your wallet? >> You took my property. I don't know. >> Huh? You have no type of identification or nothing? >> Um >> No, y'all. Do you have an ID on you? >> I need one. White shirt. >> You said what? Yeah, run background, do everything. You do all that. >> You got to hold it You got to go through your things. I came in with this box. How long it take for you to check those? >> All the time. >> I ain't no use either, man. >> Man, just calm down, please. It take forever. It's the man at the door just confirming he seen me come with the box. It won't be that long. >> Give me your paper. Keep your hands where I can see them. I think you're not going to want to go to jail. Keep your hands where I can see them first and then I'll let you go to jail. All right? Even though you're not in handcuffs because you were cooperative, you're still detained. All right? So, you're not going to >> I can't call someone let me know >> No, not right now. Not right now. It was just she was in handcuffs because she wasn't as cooperative as you. But, I was detained. >> The officers also noticed the merchandise inside the woman's tote bag and directly confronted her about it as she showed no intention of admitting to anything. >> Is there anything down with the box when you came in? >> I think when I'm asking you to be honest with me, be straight up. Just we're going to find out anyway. >> No, I came in with this stuff literally and I asked the man if I needed a return or a paper and he said no, he told me to go to customer service. I waited in customer service line. That's it. All this stuff I came with. >> What is that? Is that a local coupon? >> Yeah, I came in with this. That's why I said we came in with the team. That's why I'm like >> So, you're going to be confronted. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Don't tell her what you're doing. Take her in for a prosecution. They just want her to come down to the station. Do you want to do the shop? >> If you listen closely to the faint radio transmission from the officer, it was confirming that she had a prior theft history. [music] At that point, the officer was certain she needed to be handcuffed. >> This can stand up for me, please? Hands behind your back. Other than theft, you were detained for possible warrants, okay? Yes, ma'am. I'm sure you are aware of something that you had in the past for grand theft, so Great. Which one are you speaking from? >> Bottom. >> Grand theft. >> The worst was yet to come. Knowing she could end up in jail, the woman began worrying about her family member who was home alone, making the situation even more serious. >> Can I call someone for my son? >> No, no, not right >> What time is it? >> What time is it? It's 9:37 a.m. What is it they need about your son? >> I need to call and make sure someone picks him up. >> Which one for him? Or is there a pressing matter theft in a Walmart. >> I didn't steal anything out of Walmart. >> You didn't steal anything out of Walmart, then? You have nothing to worry about. >> I'm not. I came in with it, though. So, that's why >> You have nothing to worry about. >> You said a warrant so warrants issued. >> I'm not worried. I'll go ahead and make some calls. >> So, being that I have a warrant and I have a type of jail here or I will go to Broward for 12 hours. >> No cities actually have their own jails. Anything with the booking facility, but they still take you down to Broward. They hold themselves. >> And I had stuff in my bag. >> Take it back from me. >> While confirming the stolen merchandise, the officers allowed her to make a phone call to her family to make sure someone could look after her child. >> Please leave your message for >> Hey Shrad, this Kay. I need you to pick up Fat Daddy from where you dropped him off. Um the lady she leave at I want to say like 10:30 or like 10:15. We thought we'll be back from the store by then. Um it's room 123. I'll try to call you again in a little while, but yeah, I need you to pick up Fat Daddy before the lady leaves. So and check your voicemail or something. Thank you. I should have told you I'm getting arrested. That way you would have been like Thanks, all right, Mom. >> So you're siblings or you're not siblings? >> Yeah. >> Not same mom? >> Different dad. >> Different dad? Why different last names, too? >> Huh? >> Why different last names, too? >> What do you mean? >> He said she said different dads. >> Oh, I thought you said different moms. >> You said different dads? >> Different dads. >> There was no urgent call and the woman's expression remained unchanged. When officers arrived at the scene, her family member, who was only a toddler, was sitting alone in a soiled diaper with no guardian and poor sanitary conditions. Fortunately, the child remained safe until officers took him into protective custody. Finally, the woman was charged with shoplifting and child neglect. This case shows how a theft can become far more serious when a child is left alone and without proper care. No matter the circumstances, a parent must put their child safety first and take responsibility for their actions. Next, all the woman could do was keep lying. >> Do you have any items in your person Best Buy? >> No, sir. >> Nothing in your pockets? >> No, sir. I apologize. I took the things. I will gladly return them. >> Okay. >> On the 16th of April, 2024, officers approached a woman shortly after she returned to Best Buy, where she was suspected of stealing a baby monitor and several Roku devices and taking them to her car. Here is what happened next. >> Do you have anything in your items that belong to Best Buy in your backpack right now? In your possession? Okay. >> Do you want to check? >> Not at the moment. Do you have an ID on it? >> I got one. >> You don't have an ID on it? >> No. Your ID should be Yes. >> All right. >> I didn't think I'd need it today. >> Okay. So, I'm going to read you some things, okay? >> Okay. >> All right. I want you to be honest with me. Cuz I don't like liars. >> I understand. >> All right. This is the time to tell me what's going on, really. Okay. Let's walk outside here. >> Am I being detained? >> Yes, you are. >> Ma'am, I haven't done anything, though. >> I'll explain everything to you. All right. So, I'm going to explain everything to you. >> Okay. >> All right. We're going to walk outside. I'm not going to put you in handcuffs, but if you make any movements to run >> I wanted to go walk back to where my boyfriend was at. >> Where is he? Is your boyfriend inside the store? >> No, he's not. Um he's supposed to be at IHOP today. >> Okay. Yeah. >> I went to go walk over to IHOP. Um started walking there. And then I realized I really had to poop, and so I came back to the bathroom. >> Okay. >> Once outside, the officer asked for her information since she did not have an ID to provide, but the excuses she gave made them more suspicious of her story. >> All right. So, do you not have an ID? >> I have an ID. I just don't have it on me. >> Last name, so >> P. >> Last name? How do you spell that? >> Date of birth? >> August 19th. >> Current address? >> Uh >> What is it? >> Uh >> Phone number we can contact you? All right. You know I ain't going to be about your name, right? Cuz you are a law fleet chain and if you're lying to me, that's another charge. Do you have your ID on you? >> I do not. >> What happened to it? >> I just didn't think I'd need it today. >> Did you drive a car today? Allegedly your boyfriend's at the IHOP. >> He's not there yet. >> He's not there? >> He's getting here in like 20 minutes or so. >> Okay. >> After that, the officer directly confronted her about the allegations against her. >> Is that why you guys >> What if there's video of you and witnesses saying that they saw you take a baby monitor, some Roku devices, and put it in a red Honda vehicle in the parking lot. >> I didn't do that. >> You didn't do that? >> No, sir. >> So they have the wrong person? >> Definitely. Was it >> Definitely? Okay. Here It's simple as that. So, if it is going to be you, there's some things I can do where I don't have to take you to jail, but I'm going to take you to jail because I don't like liars. Like I said, I like when people tell me the truth. >> Again, I I didn't do anything. >> You didn't do anything? So, that's what the video and the employees are going to say? >> I don't know what they're going to say. I personally did not take anything, put them in a red Honda. I don't have a red Honda, don't know anyone with a red Honda. >> Okay. Do you have any items in your purse from Best Buy? >> No, sir. >> Nothing in your pockets? >> No, sir. >> No? >> No. >> Now's your time. >> I Honestly, I don't. >> Is that a red car over there at the other place driving by? Is red Honda? >> Yeah. >> Is it registered to you? >> No. >> Is it registered to her or do you live with her? What's her name? >> The woman was clearly not being truthful as her information soon failed to match the name on the vehicle registration. She then grew uneasy and admitted that the information she had given was different. >> I don't have this paper on me. >> Well, that can I that's not my official last name. Can I tell you my actual name? >> Why didn't you give me your actual name? >> Well, that's wait by the name of I have two last names. >> What's the what does it say on your photo license plate? >> I think I I don't remember what it says on my photo license. But I have two. I have one and I can give you that one too. A L J >> What What does your vehicle as the owner of the vehicle what would it say? >> What I don't know. I don't have a vehicle. >> So who does the car belong to? >> I It's not my car. I don't know. >> Okay. Can you look up the car? >> Yeah, give me a second. Okay, you're being honest and I'd love to get out of here with some paperwork. >> It happened right now. I haven't done anything. >> Okay. >> Please. >> So pretty much like I said earlier the employees are accusing you of taking baby monitor, uh a couple Roku devices, going to the bathroom and then leaving without purchasing any items and putting the red Honda out in the parking lot. >> I haven't done that. >> They pointed at you. They walked me up to you. I was watching you the whole time. I didn't see you take anything and shove it down in your purse or shorts at time and then you looked at me. That's when I made contact with you. >> they said these things to you but they have the wrong person. >> They have the wrong person? So the video is going to show somebody completely different and the manager or whoever saw you that works for Best Buy that knows what's going on and have there's been multiple thefts here at Best Buy. >> The officer laid everything out clearly but she still calmly denied it showing that [snorts] she had carefully prepared every lie. However, she could not fool them as the officer soon pieced together all the evidence. >> So, the video doesn't lie. The employees aren't lying cuz the video backs that up. Okay? Now, if this is just going to be some paperwork, you get to go home or with your family, I'd prefer that, especially if you're a mom. Are you a mom? Just answer that. Okay. Got it. >> We're throwing you a softball here. This is what Officer has right now as far as information, okay? I'm Officer Clark. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, I get called to the Best Buy and a woman matching your description is told to or said to have taken items. And to have put those items in a red Honda, okay? And then we find this person, okay? That's you, cuz that's who they said that you know did this, okay? I'll go review the video, but chances are we're still being recorded and it's going to be you, okay? I contact you, okay? You give me a false last name, but I'm not worried about that. We're slowly getting more information on what's going on here today. But, I don't want it to be here she is on video going here, here, here to the car, then meeting the cops. The cops find the car. The car comes back to the real name that you gave to me. I go look in the back seat of that car and I find all of the items that were allegedly taken. So, that's why I'm trying to talk to you and get a better understanding of this and potentially do some paperwork. But, right now you're trying to negotiate your you leaving, okay? I'm not negotiating you leaving. I'm here to investigate this and then see what they want to do and then, you know, >> Under the officer's solid reasoning, the woman could not keep up her lies forever. She eventually admitted everything without showing any remorse. >> I apologize. I took the things. I will gladly return them. >> Okay. What items did you take? So, is it all of them are in the car? All of them in the back seat? >> Okay. >> How many items? How many boxes? >> Only three items. >> It's just three items? If there's more items in the back seat that appear new and have Best Buy wrapping on them. >> out there. >> About three? Okay. >> I have three. I can confirm they're Best Buy. >> [bell] >> Yeah, okay. Did you pay for those things? >> I did not. >> Okay. How did they make it from inside the store to into your car? Cuz that is your car, correct? >> my car. I carried them there. I'm sorry. >> When you say you carried them, did you carry them in your hands, on your head, in your bag, in your pants? I I'm genuinely asking. How how did this happen? I haven't reviewed the video. Tell me what it's going to show me. I mean >> Or did you carry them just like this out? >> Uh it was in my purse and I I walked out with them and I'm sincerely sorry and I'm glad they were returned. >> And you went to the and you went to the bathroom to put the items in your purse, is that correct? >> No. >> No? So, how did they get in your purse? >> left I was in the store, left with the items, came back to go to the bathroom. >> Okay. So, you came into the store. How long did you stay in the store? >> I don't know. >> Okay. Do you have a any concept of time? Was it more than an hour? >> 15, 20, 30 >> Okay. So, you were in the store for 15, 20 minutes. Okay. You were picking up items, I'm I presume. >> Back out to my car and then I realized I had to go to the bathroom when I was inside, went to the bathroom. >> were just holding them? >> No, they were in my car. >> She was charged with first-degree misdemeanor, shoplifting, [music] petty theft for approximately $650 worth of merchandise. As a first-time offender, she was given the opportunity to enter a diversion program instead of going to jail, along [music] with a trespass warning and a court date. Lying only makes things worse when the evidence is already against you. Being honest and cooperating with officers can sometimes lead to a much better outcome than continuing to deny the truth. The next woman is another example that running away does not mean escaping the consequences. >> You're going to be placed under arrest again for Charlotte County charges, okay? So, this time can you put your hands behind your back for me? >> on. I'd rather be where there are cameras, and so I mean you have a body camera. >> Yeah, this is recording right now. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, >> want to be >> On the 25th of April, 2024, Charlotte County detectives arrived at a Florida home to approach a 27-year-old woman named Anna Barbara over fraud charges from another jurisdiction. She also had separate cases in Charlotte County, making the situation more complicated. >> Hi, Anna Barbara. >> Yes. >> Hi, I'm Detective Savage with the Sheriff's Office. How are you doing? >> How are you? >> Not too bad. Say, I'm here in reference to all that bell stuff. >> Yeah. >> Um would you mind stepping out for me real quick? >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. >> So, basically I'm here on behalf of Charlotte County. So, I understand that you already spoke with >> Punta Gorda PD. >> Yep. >> Okay. So, with everything that's been going on, um Charlotte County also encompasses an area outside of Punta Gorda. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, with everything that's going on, we also have cases, okay? So, that that's why I'm here. So, >> Okay. >> with everything that's going on, you're going to be placed under arrest again for Charlotte County charges, okay? So, this time can you put your hands behind your back for me? >> shoes on. >> Yeah, I'll grab them for you. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> Um what what am I being arrested for? >> I'll explain that to you. Go ahead and turn around for me. >> Okay. What am I under arrest for? And I have to take my shoes off. >> I got you, and we can grab some for you. Go ahead and turn around for me. Is anyone else in the house? >> No. >> Okay. Who's here with you? >> My aunt and my uncle. >> Your aunt and your uncle. What are their names? >> Selena and Jerry Ogden. >> Okay. >> And what am I being arrested for? >> So, it's going going similar charges. >> Oh my god. >> And I'd be more than happy to talk with you about it, okay? >> Yeah. I I I >> Whatever the case. >> She remained calm as if she already knew exactly what she had done, but showed no shame for it. Instead, she appeared annoyed that she was being arrested for her own wrongdoing. >> I thought this all been handled yesterday whenever I was already booked. Isn't this different? But is it or what? >> Basically, and I'd be more than happy to discuss it with you as soon as we get down to the office, okay? >> Am I able to hold onto my phone or what? >> It's going to go in the back just because it's a we don't things flying around and and all that stuff, okay? >> Am I going to be up for bail on this too or like where am I going? Am I going to like the actual like >> So we're So we're Yeah, well, we're going to go to the So we're the Charlotte County >> arrest for? >> So Like I said, I'm I'm more than happy to talk with you. It's going to just be all the all the bail stuff. >> What bail stuff? I already posted bail yesterday. >> I got you. And like I said, I'm more than happy to talk with you. >> to an attorney. >> Okay. >> So, what are we doing? No one's telling me anything. >> Okay. So, what I'll do since we're right here, I'm more than happy to do this roadside, okay? >> No, I would rather be where there are cameras and so I mean you have a body camera. >> is recording right now. Okay. So >> to talk to anyone without an attorney. >> Okay. >> She asserted her right to remain silent even before the officer read her Miranda rights, but once her rights were read, she repeatedly vented her frustration, constantly interrupting the officer as he spoke. >> Do you understand all these rights? >> Where am I going? Am Are you saying that you're I'm going to the police office? Like where's that at? >> It's just on Loveland. So, you take Olean and you just >> or is it an actual police department? >> police department. It's the sheriff's office just down the road on Olean. So, across king. >> am I going to jail? >> So, ultimately, yeah. I'm not going to lie to you. >> Oh my god. I just was in jail last night. >> I know. Right. So, as I was trying to explain to you >> What is going on? >> there's different charges in different areas. >> Okay, where's the evidence? Is that where it's at? Is that the >> So, like I said if >> police station cuz you're telling me I'm going to two different places, the police station and then also to the jail. Okay. So, where am I going? So, I know >> Where would you like to go? Cuz I just advised you of all your rights. You're still talking with me. Okay? Do you want to keep talking with me? Yes or no? >> I just want to know where I'm going right now. >> Well, I guess it's ultimately going to depend on if you want to talk with me or not. If you want to talk with me, we'll go to the office. If you don't want to talk with me, you'll just go straight down to the jail. >> Will the attorney be at the office? >> If you want to talk with your attorney, you'll go straight down to the jail. If you're If you're telling me that you would like to speak with your attorney, I will not ask you any more questions. >> So, where am I going if I speak to an attorney? You said jail. >> Yes. >> After placing the woman in the vehicle, the officer approached the other people in the house to gather additional statements and information about her. >> Okay. Um and then since she's been here, has she been bringing items home? Miscellaneous you know things while she's out shopping? >> Like I told you a while ago, you know, I I've noticed nothing except she bought a lot Uh but there's been some times that myself I just had some questions if she's coming here with some stuff that I don't know where you got where you got the money to buy it, but you know. >> Okay. What does she do with that stuff? >> She It's usually toys and clothes for her son. >> Okay. >> You know, and and the boy probably is with them and but I don't know if she over here or I don't know. Sometimes she'll uh you know, she'll play with them for a little while, then they disappear. >> Okay. >> Yeah, I don't know where they go. >> Okay. >> I can't say. >> Do Does anyone ever come by the house to pick things up from her, or does she ever maybe sell things? >> She sells things like that. >> Yeah, like I know Facebook Marketplace is a big thing. >> Not that I know of. Not that I know of. I can't I can't say for sure cuz I'm not here a lot during the daytime. I got a mowing business that I >> Oh, nice. >> So, I'm not here a lot during the day, but no, I haven't noticed anybody. >> Okay. >> I don't think she's selling it. I mean, I I think it's more she wants to give him something. But, she doesn't have the money to do it. >> Sure. The woman was confirmed to have organized thefts across more than 65 different stores over 6 months. Her family later admitted that they had tried to warn her, but they could not convince her to stop. >> It's not my fault. I didn't >> You can't control her actions. She's She's a big girl. >> Exactly. She's 27. She just turned 27. >> Yeah, I believe so. >> Yep. >> You know, I mean, oh >> So, with Yeah, with what >> happening everywhere, isn't it? >> with what this particular just this one store has been able to show us, it's 65 incidences that they're that they're aware of. >> What store? Can you tell us? >> It's It's It's several stores, yeah. Um as far as particulars, I'm sure she's she'd probably be able to tell you whenever >> My guess My guess most of them probably coming out of Target. >> Yeah, cuz she does tend to shop there a lot, and but she told us Belk's Outlet. So, I was just Yeah. >> Anna Barbara faced multiple fraud and theft charges in Charlotte County allegedly connected to a scheme involving more than 65 stores over 6 months. This case shows that running from the consequences does not make the charges disappear. Once a pattern of theft is uncovered, multiple incidents can quickly turn a single arrest into serious [music] legal trouble. Next, this woman ended up injuring herself while trying to flee only to turn around. On the 10th of November, 2023, officers were dispatched to a shopping center after receiving a report of a woman suspected of shoplifting. It was only a suspicion, but when officers approached her, her unexpected actions indirectly confirmed it. >> Copy. >> Come here. >> [music] >> Don't buck. Go over there. >> Why? >> Come here. >> Uh-oh, don't touch me. Don't touch me. STOP. I NEED HELP, MAN. I'LL SHOW YOU. PLEASE DON'T DO I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. Stop it. I'm waiting my phone. Hold on. Wait. I'll show my receipt. >> Okay. >> Put your hands behind >> Behind. >> All right. Stop resisting. You got three of us here, all right? Good. >> Karma came quickly for the wrongdoer as she crashed into a pole while trying to run away. After failing to escape and being handcuffed, she started acting innocent claiming that she was being blamed for something she did not do. >> I need to call my mom, please. >> Absolutely. >> Please don't touch me. Where are you going? I didn't do nothing, man. I just trying to contact and see what was going on. I called the police myself just now. >> Did you? >> Yes, sir. >> No. >> That's what I'm saying. That's what I thought y'all was trying to complain me for what I just did. I got I just got off the phone with them and I told them that I didn't do anything. >> Officer, you please help me out, ma'am. Can you please ask him for me? Can I have my stuff back? >> Sir, please. >> What? We're going to have a long time to talk. >> I don't want I don't have time to talk because I was trying to verify my cell with the police. So, that's why I thought when you were running after me, I thought that y'all was trying to blame me for what's going on and I didn't do anything. >> I got you. >> That's what I'm saying. Can I please call the police, sir? Please, sir. Please. >> Hey, sit down. Watch your Get this off. >> I don't mind getting it out. Can you please call the police? I just brushed my mouth. >> Yeah, that was like the uh spill you took. >> She did not just act innocent. She also treated her attempt to flee as if it were nothing serious, even turning the questions back on the officer who arrested her. >> I got off the phone with them. I called to verify it. >> Uh-huh. >> What was going on? So, she tried to figure out why was you running after me? That's why I didn't understand. >> I didn't really run after you. >> Huh? >> I didn't really run after you. >> You did. You said you was looking for me racially. That's what I'm trying to ask to you, sir. >> Uh-huh. Hi, Kristen. This is Officer Khan with Dekalb County Police Department. Did you call about some girl from the Dunkin' Donuts? All right. We have a girl over here. I need someone to ID her. You're saying no one can come identify her? >> Somebody else is calling it in. >> appreciate it. >> And it's her roommate. >> Oh, no problem. No problem. That's what we do. >> And we know that her roommate >> What was going on? >> Oh, more phone calls. More phone calls, Jeremiah. >> What's what's more phone calls? >> More phone calls. That's the criminal justice system. It's all about more phone calls. So, uh they don't want to come ID because it's store policy not to do IDs. Um I can take this girl for RA and then send the horse bowl with her or her loose. >> The officers confirmed that she was not being charged for the suspected shoplifting, but her earlier attempt to flee had still constituted an offense. They then explained that to her. >> her loose. You will have to So, RA is an offense. Uh-huh. But I have great news and less than great news. The good news is the business about the coat store is straightened out for now and you're not in trouble for that. >> Good news. >> The bad news is you're going to jail for RA. >> What's that? >> It's uh what they call when the cops are trying to talk to you and they have a reason to contact you. >> didn't get running for that though. >> Yeah, shouldn't have take off running. >> Cuz I didn't understand what was going on. Sir. >> Come on out then. This officer for us. She is going to search you. >> For what? Oh, they had me running from him and I didn't even do what they said that I did. That's what's so >> Can you turn around face car for me? Please. In the car for me, please. >> Her teeth were injured during her attempt to flee, yet she completely saw herself as the victim. The very next day, her family even came forward to file a complaint about what had happened. >> How can I help you? >> Yesterday, um my cousin was at work. She on the phone, but she can't talk like that. She can't really mess up. >> So, in her native language, it's messed up. >> Okay, so >> She can explain to you exactly what happened. >> He approached me. He grabbed me by my under arm. He approached me and said that I was being detained. And I asked him why I was being detained. He said he was going to be there. It was because of an ongoing investigation. So, I told him I already had called to verify myself. So, I told him I don't have to speak to you and I walked out. So, as I was in the midst of walking I walked out really fast. He was coming behind me. But I had to him he not fast as me. He tried to grab me to sit him and he walked me. I I almost fell on the floor. But instead of me getting to the floor I tripped and fell. And when I fell he slammed me on the ground and he changed. But when he slammed me I I slammed him. What my whole body hit the floor. Two front teeth came out my mouth. >> Okay. >> Mhm. >> You can look at the pictures. >> Well, fill out that >> Fill out this. >> Yeah. If that's what you're going to file a formal complaint >> Mhm. >> and uh I'll give it to his day shift lieutenant cuz I'm the night shift lieutenant and then uh they'll call you or someone from internal affairs will call you. All right? >> I'm finished filling it out. >> Okay, so Okay. So, I went in the back to look at the actual cameras cuz we all wear body cameras. So, it looks like when when he got to the Dunkin Donuts she had left. So, as he was walking around the outlet there were some customers. There was actually some off-duty police officers. Not They don't work for us, just random off-duty. It was like, "Are you looking for somebody?" And he said, "Yes." They told her what store she went in. She was hiding behind a display. So, she came from behind the display. He was like, hey. >> In the end, the woman was charged with resisting arrest. Running from law enforcement can quickly turn a situation from a simple investigation into a criminal offense. Trying to deny or downplay that decision afterward does not change the consequences of what happened. Next, this woman's situation became so bad that it required the presence of her own mother. >> She paid for about $25 worth of like groceries and stuff, but she tried leaving with about $300 of unpaid items. >> What did you do with them? >> I didn't even I didn't even bring it with me cuz I said I want my money back. >> On the 6th of April, 2025, police stopped a vehicle on the road after suspecting it was connected to a theft. As soon as they approached, the woman immediately showed an uncooperative attitude. >> How long am I She said I was in pain. How long am I detained for right now? >> You're under going to be under arrest. So, that's why you're getting out of the car. >> I didn't steal anything. >> Okay. >> Well, we're we're going to figure that out. But then, by that time, it may be too late if I if I get arrested. >> an option at this point. >> Well, so Tiana, here's the deal. So, I've watched all the video. By Florida state statute, okay, you walked out of the store without paying for items. >> I did not walk out. >> Okay. Well >> not go outside outside. I was not outside. >> Okay, you passed all points of sale. That's what that means. >> But the situation was far from simple as the woman was believed to have committed the act alongside younger individuals, forcing officers to work with the suspect's mother to ensure their safety. >> Now, Keana is detained, okay? The reason why is because she shoplifted from Walmart. Um she went in with her and the two kids. Um she paid for about $25 worth of um like groceries and stuff, but she tried leaving with about $300 of unpaid items. All right. So, um whenever we showed up here, they gave us a description of the vehicle. They gave us a description of her. Um we've obviously located her right here, which is just within a very short distance of Walmart. Um and since then, she's been less than cooperative with us, um but she was wanting for uh her kids, if in the very least, if you would be able to take her children for and stuff like that. >> Can I get the kids >> Yeah, we'll make sure that you get the kids and stuff like that and get everything taken care of. >> that for? >> I don't know. >> money. >> Right. >> You know, I'm a I'm a insurance broker. I make over $100,000 a year. I got money. >> You know, I I honestly don't know. Um do me a favor. What we would like for you to do is I think that the kids will probably be calm enough with us if what we can do is we can just have her step out. We can take care of stuff away from the kids, okay? Because we don't want them seeing all of this that's going on. She does have to go in handcuffs, she does have to be patted down, go in the vehicle and stuff like that. We'll let you come in and start taking care of the kids and stuff, right? And then >> Is my car here? >> Huh? >> Is my car here? >> Um yeah, we'll figure that out. So, I don't think the vehicle is registered to her. We'll get that stuff lined out, but let us get this squared away and then we'll either decide if the kids need to come to your car or if you're taking hers or what what's going on exactly, okay? >> Returning to the suspect, the officers tried to explain what they were trying to resolve, but she seemed more concerned about herself than anything else. >> We're going to try to be as respectful as possible with you and your family here, cuz these are your kids, right? Okay. What we would like, if possible and if you will agree with it, is we would like for you to turn off the car and step out and walk back here with us. Okay, so that way we don't do anything in front of the kids and not have any issues. Is that okay? Are you good with agreeing with that? All right. >> How long am I She's probably in pain. How long am I to stay in the car? >> All right, now you're under going to be under arrest. So, that's why you're getting out of the car. >> I can't feel anything. >> Okay, well, we're going to figure that out. >> But then by that time it may be too late if I if I get a lawyer. >> an option at this point. >> Tiana, here's the deal. So, I've watched all the video. By Florida state statute, okay, you walked out of the store without paying for items. >> I did not walk out. >> Okay. Well >> not go outside outside. I was not outside. >> Okay, you passed all points of sale. That's what that means, Tonya. This officer wants to ask you some more questions whenever we get done with this, okay? Soon as we get these in and you're secured in the back of my car, I'm going to have your mom go up there with the kids, okay? >> The officer successfully detained the woman and only after some persuasion did she finally present her side of the story. >> Well, I went back to the day I accused me. I came in there. I went back to the um register. I checked my gift cards. Um a woman helped me in the front. Yeah, a woman helped me in the front. I checked my gift cards and then I returned something and then I left. >> Okay. >> I'm trying to leave. >> So, let's let's let's start back from that, okay? When did you come When did you decide to come to Walmart? Was it this morning? This afternoon? Was it spur of the moment? >> Um I was coming from The Villages, so um we actually just stopped by. >> Okay. Where do you live at? >> I live in The Villages as well. >> You live in The Villages. Coming from The Villages, living in The Villages, and you came here to this Walmart. >> Yeah, because I was getting ready to have a gathering. >> Like a family gathering? Okay. All right. It's fine. So, you stopped by Walmart, do some grocery shopping, all right? >> Mhm. I got I got like a few Yeah. >> Got a few things. What was a few things? >> Um >> What was What was the stuff? >> Uh peanut butter >> Okay. >> bread, peanut butter, um I got some juice and um some chips for the kids. >> Okay. About how much was all of that? >> Um roughly about maybe a little about 40 bucks, probably. >> 40 bucks might be a rough estimate or something like that. Okay. >> She was not even certain about the amount she had paid despite admitting that she made a payment which immediately led officers to question her payment process. >> Well, okay, in the beginning, which one did you go through first? >> Canada >> Self-scan first, okay. So, you you got the stuff, right? And then you went to what, customer service or like a normal >> I went to customer service. >> Customer service. >> The machine The lady came over here with the machine, but it wasn't malfunctioning. >> Okay. All right. So, you did that and then you tried to leave, right? Cuz you were done. Went to the doors. >> No, I went to the customer service. >> After after customer service, yeah. Yeah, you check your you return an item, you check your gift card balances and stuff like that, and you walk out. You and your two kids from this Walmart. You got stopped inside the vestibule past all points of sale by a large man in a gray shirt that identified himself as asset protection, right? Okay. So, you followed him? >> No, I didn't. >> Didn't what? >> I didn't follow him. >> You didn't follow him? >> No. >> Okay, did you follow somebody else? >> Yeah, I followed this woman. I kept asking her like what's the problem, and >> Okay. >> she wouldn't tell me. >> Wouldn't tell you. >> After a while, I said, "Um, you're not going to tell me what's the problem?" Then they said, "Yeah, just come with me." And I said, "I'm not coming with you anywhere." >> Okay. >> I said, "I'm not coming with you anywhere." >> Mhm. >> And then I walked out the door. >> And then you walked out the door. Okay. So, what about the items that you paid for? Did you What did you do with them? >> I didn't even I didn't even bring it with me cuz I said I want my money back. >> Okay. That was her entire story, but the suspicious details did not stop there as officers began pointing out more inconsistencies. [music] >> So, it it it your story's starting to fall apart here. Who on earth goes into the store Hear me out. Who on earth goes into the store does that goes back up and is following this, you know, an employee and then tells customer service, "Hey, I want my money back." But then just leaves without getting their money or taking the items that they paid for. I mean, I I do a lot of grocery shopping. Malcolm, you do a lot of grocery shopping. I've never had that happen. Have you? >> He stated He stated I wasn't going to get my money back. So, I said, "Okay. If you're not going to give me my money back, I'll just do a dispute." >> Okay. >> That's what I stated. >> Okay. All right. So, let me ask you this. While you were loading your shopping cart full of items and you only paid for approximately $25 worth with supposedly a gift card, I believe is what it was. Or was it What kind of card did you pay with it for? >> Um I had a gift card, yeah. >> A gift card. >> Some was gift card and some >> Okay. Some was gift card, some was cash. All right. So, kind of a combo deal. >> So, real quick before y'all go on, do you actually have a driver's license? Yes or no? Cuz I just ran I just ran you. So, yes or no? Do you or don't you? >> I don't have it. >> Okay. No, do you actually have one, period? >> Oh, no, ma'am. I don't have it. >> Oh, no wonder why you don't have it. >> Okay. So, here's the deal. You loaded up approximately $295 worth of merchandise in your cart. You tried to pay for $25. You tried to walk out with $270 and 99 cents worth of unpaid merchandise. I have the itemized receipt. We do have it on video. You passed all points of sale without paying for it or attempting to pay for it at that given point, which means that at this point you've committed a retail theft. >> So, in addition to the theft charge, she was also charged with driving without a license. But it did not stop there. Through the mother's statement, officers realized that the name she provided also seemed to be problematic. >> Who does the car belong to? Is it Kayonna? Keonna? Kayonna? Okay. Kayonna No, that's >> That's her? >> That's her. Kayonna Speer. What did you tell her your name was? >> Uh Kayonna Speer. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, this is this is her. >> Yeah, this is you're Keonna Speer. >> Yes. >> Keonna Speer, okay. And the the vehicle isn't registered to you or owned by you, is it? >> Yeah, but >> Oh, it is? Okay. >> You do realize that's an additional charge. You gave me a false identity. >> What you say your name was? >> Keonna something. >> Okay. Yeah, at this point Keonna, Keonna, however you pronounce it, I'm sorry, either way. Um So, at this point our hands are tied. We even if there was a chance that we could have given you what's called a notice to appear, which is ultimately what we would have probably done in this situation since you had your two kids with you, had you been stopped and been, you know, pretty compliant with us and stuff. Um you would be given just a court date, as a matter of fact, and um you would still be able to, you know, probably go to Walmart and do everything else that you need do, and it wouldn't have been a big deal, but she was charged with retail theft, driving without a valid license, and providing a false identity to law enforcement. Even a small lie can spiral into bigger consequences when honesty could have prevented it all, and one poor decision can quickly turn into multiple charges that change everything. >> They don't know you. You don't work for them. Can you just you want to tell me the truth or you you you good with what you said already? >> Uh yeah, I don't know anything about who did this. Who are you? >> On the 10th of July, 2023, officers were dispatched to a Dollar General after receiving a report that a woman had attempted to cash a fraudulent check there. When they arrived, the suspect had already gotten into a vehicle and appeared ready to leave, but officers stopped the car before it could drive away. Here's what happened next. >> Hello. >> Hey, how you doing? >> I'm Corporal David at the Savannah Police Department. The reason I pulled you over is cuz your passenger is listed suspect for some fraudulent activity that's going on in this county. >> No, it's called the Lakes at Waters Edge Dollar General right now. >> What's that? >> Uh >> I'm going to need your passenger's ID and yours. >> Here go my ID. >> Thank you, ma'am. >> You got my ID. >> Thank you, ma'am. Y'all just sit tight for me. I'll be right back with you, okay? >> Okay. >> Hopefully I'll be able to let y'all go in just a minute. >> Okay. >> All right, we got the suspect in this car. She's in the passenger seat. >> Immediately afterward, officers called a man named Robert, who was believed to be the victim [music] after his checks had been stolen by the woman. He also provided additional details about how the fraud had been carried out. >> I mailed a check from the post office to someone for $157 to Yellow Pages online in Tennessee. Someone took it out of the mail. They washed it and they filled it out for $15,000. They deposited it back in cash and and when they washed it, they made a copy of it. They changed the check number by one number from 2845, they changed this to 2855 55 and then they wrote a second check for $8,600. >> Mhm. >> And they deposited it with a credit deposit at the bank and they called me and I called the number of the bank. >> What do they need for 26? >> The person has walked into Discount Check Casher and is trying to cash it there. >> Absolutely. All righty. Would you like to press charges? >> Yes, sir. >> Absolutely. Thank you, sir, and I'll be with you shortly. All right, that was the owner of the check. He's confirming that we had it stolen out of the mailbox and they've been making copies of it, washing them and re-getting them issued. But he hasn't authorized any check for this lady with his signature. >> Meanwhile, another officer approached an employee at the store involved in the incident, who then described what had happened from his perspective. >> Okay, she came in with that check and I called the maker. I called the phone number on the check and he said that the check was stolen. He said she stole it. or I don't know what happened. She said she applied for a job on the internet. Okay. So, she obviously put it into her bank. They sent that back to her as a legal document. >> This one? >> That's just a copy. >> Okay. >> Right right there. That right down there. That's the check. >> Okay. >> That's the legal copy of of the check. So, he said it was fraud that someone took an a check or somehow got a check or whatever and cashed one for $15,000. And they took this check and redid it or I don't know what he was saying, but she presented it. That's her ID. That's her parents' names that she gave me. And that's all the information I can give you. >> Absolutely. >> And she left. >> Is there a reason she ran out of here? Did she give you anything? >> Well, she she was pretty cool and calm and collected for 5 or 10 12, 15 minutes. And then I guess I was talking to the man and we had a couple other people come in and you know, I was telling her I was getting the money together and I had to wait to get the final approval. She waited a couple more minutes and then all of a sudden she left. She got called away or something by somebody in a car. It was a blue Nissan. I didn't get the tag. But she got told by somebody you got to come down. >> Right. >> Something. >> And it's cuz they seen me pull up. I got them both in handcuffs over there. >> You do? >> Hm? Ah! What? >> How'd you do that? >> Cuz I got here fast enough. >> Once everything had been confirmed, officers separated the two women. The driver was questioned separately, but strangely she began denying that she even knew the other woman. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments. >> Well, I didn't know her. I was just bringing her up. I didn't know anything about until you did this. >> All right. Um well, the call that we got is that bad checks were being passed there. >> Who? Who like where there? >> Mhm. And is that illegal fraudulent made checks were being trying to be cashed by the young lady that was in your passenger seat. >> Oh, wow. >> Um, for very significant amounts. >> All right. >> Um $86,000 $8,600 >> You going to do one count of 334 is a felony. She'll be arraigned tomorrow. >> Um, this has been going on bad for a while now. >> Hey, young lady. >> Hey, you know me? >> No, I got to tell you. >> Listen. >> What y'all doing, man? >> I just bring her in. >> You You know what What's your relationship to her? >> She's my friend. >> What's her uh Gabrielle? >> Yes, she's my friend. >> How long y'all been friends? Long time? What, since little kids, high school? >> Yeah, like we went to school together. >> You went to school together? I'm just asking cuz your friend about to go to jail. >> What's she going to jail for? >> Cuz that check is fake and she is not her check. She's going to jail and it's a felony. That's why I'm asking cuz she's not getting out. She's going to go to jail and can't get out till tomorrow and that's if the judge give her bond. So, that's why I'm asking cuz I need to know who I need to tell this to. So, if you're not the person I need to be talking to and you're just giving her a ride then I don't need to be talking to you. That's why I asked. >> Yeah, I believe you. I'm not going to lie. >> Okay. >> The driver was determined to be uninvolved in the incident and was released shortly afterward. Meanwhile, as the female suspect faced police questioning, she only raised further suspicion by repeatedly changing her story. >> And tell me what's going on. >> So >> Uh Yes or no first. Yes or no before we get started. Do you want to talk to me? >> Yes, that's what I was doing. >> ahead. >> So, basically um I tried to that check was getting deposited into my Chase Chase sent me that paper that he gave you saying that it wouldn't deposit cuz of my not enough money. I wasn't understanding what that meant. So, my homegirl was like, "Well, let's cash it either at this one or Walmart." >> This This Who gave you this? You went to the bank? >> No, yeah, the bank sent me this and also >> they send you this? On this day? >> Um no, not on this day. >> Not enough funds to pay this check. You cannot deposit this They sent They sent this to you? Cuz this was June? >> That was the That was the deposit date. >> Yeah, you tried to deposit it on June the 26th and they said it wasn't enough? >> Yeah, it was getting deposited in my account that day. But then it sent But then it sent me that like maybe like last week like maybe last week Friday. >> then you got the check back. >> Yeah, I got that check and this paper together. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> And they told you that not enough funds to pay this check. You cannot You can deposit it again. >> that's why I went up to there to deposit >> wasn't going back to the bank to cash You was going to go over here? So they said it wasn't You couldn't cash it. >> Well, he said I was able to He was like >> saying the bank said you couldn't. >> Yeah, so the bank said the bank said I couldn't cash it. I was going to go to here or either Walmart to cash it. And the man was like, "Okay, well well it was fine." He was asking me questions. And then next thing you know, I walk up to the car to my homegirl's car and she's like, "Well, I'm like, "Well, hold on. I got to go over to Dollar General real quick to get something cuz he said it's going to be a while. It's a lot of cash." I said, "Okay, that's fine." When we pulling off, he's pulling up behind us saying that I'm doing for fraud. So I'm like, "Okay, well I got that from the mail." >> You got it from the mail? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Who is the Who are the people? Who are these people? >> That's the company that I work for, but that is my name on the check. Yes. >> The company you work for? >> No, that's the company This is the company that I work for. Yes. The Royal Cleaning Services Inc. Yes. >> Where is that located? >> It's located all the way in Polar. Where is It's one in Polar and then it's one and around the corner, but I work at the one over in Polar and I work at Top Crab. >> have check stubs on you? >> No, I don't work >> Do you have >> Officers even tried to verify her employment by looking into the company she claimed to work for, but they came up empty-handed. >> Do you have a number of a manager or something that we can call to check to see if you work there? >> No, I don't have a I mean, I can't call the manager. The manager doesn't really We text in a group chat. I don't ever really call the manager. >> I'm saying who can confirm that you work there? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Who is there that we can talk to? >> Nobody there is right now that I can talk to personally. No, not right now, but I do also work at Top Crab as well. >> And why would they give give a check for $8,600? >> That was my check that they owed me back all the way in COVID because they were behind on the checks and I had they owed me that check. I stopped working all last year for them and I started working at Top Crab and they owed me the check during COVID time. >> And they mailed you this >> Yeah, that's what they claimed. They No, they didn't mail me this check. They tried to do a direct deposit. I opened up a Chase account so they could deposit that money in my account. But when they tried to deposit, that's when I received an >> to deposit? >> I guess when the the company tried to deposit in my account, that I received the email saying that the check was returned back and >> not going to send a check to the bank like this. They just do direct deposit. >> Yeah, direct deposit. That's what >> didn't they didn't they're not going to give them this check. >> That's the check that they sent me. >> They You said they sent it to you or they sent it to the bank? >> They did they tried to do direct deposit in my Chase and then I received the email saying that it's not going to do it. So then I received that check and that paper together saying with my Chase on it saying that >> So you don't have I'm saying when the last time you went to work at this place in Pooler? >> Last time I went to work was last Sunday. Cuz >> What's the address of this The address? >> Yeah. It's Um on Broughton Boulevard. >> I know I'm saying how what's the address? How long you been working there? >> I just started back working this week. When I like when I this week but sometime >> Come on. You you you started come >> She still had no intention of telling the truth. After officers bluntly confronted her with what they believed had happened, the woman was finally forced to admit it. >> That's what I'm trying to tell you to go ahead and be honest because what you're saying I don't believe. So if you you don't want to tell me the truth, I mean I'm going by what they say. This is their account. >> Wait. >> This is their business. >> I know that check is not mine. >> Okay. >> Somebody that I know of was trying to deposit the check into my account saying that this is my money. This this is this is the money that they owe me. When the check didn't go through, it they said that I was going to receive it through the mail. I said, "Okay." They said they I was talking to them and they said, "Hey, well you can deposit it again." When I seen that it say I can deposit it again >> them? You don't want to tell the person name? They're friend of yours? >> Yes, they are. >> They are? >> Well, supposedly. >> So, you going to take this ride by yourself. You going to take this felony hit by yourself. >> This is a felony? >> Do you go to school? >> No, but I was trying to. >> This is a felony. This is serious. This is This is This is a felony and you won't be able to get out of jail till tomorrow if the judge give you a bond. So, you want to You want to protect the person that gave you this fake check? That's crazy. That's so crazy to me that you willing to do that. >> So, I am going to jail? >> Yeah. That's what I'm saying. You going to go to jail for a check that you Somebody that you know Somebody gave you a fake check. Put your name on here and told you to go cash it and you did it. So, you don't want to give up that information? >> It was the driver. >> Huh? >> The driver. >> Who was the driver? What driver? >> Alicia. >> Alicia? She gave you this check? Huh? >> The check she was going to deposit into my Chase account, but since it didn't go through, she told me to go to the >> How often y'all do this? >> This is my first time. >> She do it all the time? >> Not that I know of. I don't know. I personally >> How how close are you? >> The woman was charged with third-degree forgery. Fraud often begins with a promise that sounds easy and risk-free, but the legal consequences are anything but. A single dishonest decision can leave you with a criminal record that lasts far longer than any temporary [music] financial gain. >> Did you come from Walmart? >> No, sir, I didn't. >> No? >> No. I think you're looking for the wrong person. >> I'm looking for the wrong person? >> That's her right there getting stuff from around that building. >> Mhm. >> Which I assume is most of what's in her bag. >> On the 25th of March, 2023, officers received a call from Walmart reporting that a woman had shoplifted and fled the store. They located her at a nearby Murphy's store, but she appeared [music] completely calm as if she had already prepared herself to face the officers. >> All right, how you doing? Let me talk to you. Let me Let me to you. >> Come over here. You come over here. I'm talking to you. >> Why do you want to talk to me though? >> You just go over there, sir. Let me talk to you. Don't make this any harder than it has to be. Come on. Where's your purse at? >> I don't have a purse. >> You didn't bring a purse? >> No, I didn't. >> Did you come from Walmart? >> No, sir, I didn't. >> No? >> No. I think you're looking for the wrong person. >> I'm looking for the wrong person? >> Yeah. >> Can you step over here for me? >> I didn't do anything. >> Hey. Where are you going? >> I'm going to go in here and buy something. What's wrong? What's going on tonight? >> Okay. Well, yeah. Uh you you're matching the description that uh shoplifted uh at Walmart. >> What was the description? I don't have anything on me. What are you >> Blond hair, black shirt, white emblem on your shirt. Literally. I I I said blond hair. >> I thought you said blond hair. >> No, I said black hair. >> No, that's not me. >> That's not you? Okay. >> I didn't come from Walmart. >> Okay, well, we'll just make sure then. >> Okay. >> She completely denied every suspicion directed at her, but her demeanor was clearly forced. She even began trying to steer the officer's attention elsewhere instead of keeping the focus on herself. >> We're not going to hurt you. >> What was your name? >> You're you're on my time now. Just bear with me. >> You're looking for the wrong person. I'm not the person you're looking >> Yeah. >> Okay. I mean, like I said, we're going to try to see. And then if you you're the wrong person, then you can leave. But I mean, you're matching the description. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> You used to be in the parking lot over there. That's where that that happened. I'm not over here. >> As the officer remained persistent, she eventually accepted being placed in handcuffs. Shortly afterward, a Murphy's employee voluntarily pointed out several suspicious details [music] suggesting she had discarded the stolen merchandise nearby. >> Mhm. [snorts] >> Ah. Look at that. >> Well, we got a straight shot camera right above that head that I'm trying to tell you that she put it there. >> Okay. >> This camera's right here and straight at camera. Hey, look. This camera hits the [ __ ] I can see it on the camera standing at my register. That's why I came out is I had seen her drop something. >> Do you have your purse? And she told you no, so I told her I said, "There's a purse right there. I'm going to go make sure he knows." You know what I mean? >> Uh I'm going to go look at those cameras, record that, and then I'll probably come back so I can look at your cameras, okay? >> All right. >> All right, thank you. And that's not your purse. The one that was right next to you. >> Excuse me? >> That wasn't your purse. >> How do you know it wasn't my purse? Did you go through it? Did you search it? >> I didn't search it, but I don't need to search her for that. No, I don't. >> You're laughing at me, [ __ ] >> I'm not laughing. >> What's so funny then? >> What's so funny is that you're I'm telling you, are you going to let me talk? >> I'm going to let you talk. >> Okay, there's her purse right next to you. And you're saying it's not your purse. There's a camera right above you. >> I didn't say that wasn't my purse. Did I? >> Oh my lord. >> that? >> Okay. All right, well, we'll find out here in a bit. >> Okay. >> You just made it all worse. Cuz I could have just given you a ticket. You would have been on your way. For shoplifting. >> How do you know I shoplifted? >> I already told you. >> Did you see me like leaving with that stuff? >> The guy that works here, yes. The guy that works here, yes. Okay. And I guess we'll find out. I'm about to. >> You physically saw me put that in my purse. >> I'm about to look. >> You saw me put that in my purse though. How do you know I didn't pay for that already? Or it wasn't >> Okay, well, give me like >> Her explanation about the purse kept changing, making everything even more suspicious. Even after being taken back to Walmart, she refused to get out of the patrol car, only making the situation more tense. >> Be good now. >> I'll do yes, I will. I'm sorry. >> All right, are we going to start admitting to stuff? Come on. >> I didn't steal nothing. It was a gift. >> Okay, well, we're going to go talk to this guy then. >> want to see that guy. He He scares me. >> He scares you? Come on, girl. >> He He He He used football tackle He tackled me. >> He tackled you? >> He wanted to. >> Ay ay ay. >> So, you're going to make me go in there like this? >> We're going to have to. >> not going to go in there. >> Why Why don't you want to go in there? >> He scares me. He scares me. He does. >> Who Who Who scares you? >> That guy. >> Ay ay ay. All right, let me go see what I can >> Okay, thank you. I appreciate you a lot. And I will try everything >> Claiming to be afraid of the loss prevention employee, she refused to get out of the patrol car. Fully embracing the role of a victim, she then came up with another excuse by blaming someone else. Why? She knew >> I mean, he was holding something I didn't steal. >> You're still saying that? >> I didn't. My friend gave it to me. I swear. She told me to hold that for her. >> Where's your friend at? >> I think she set me up cuz she was out of town. >> Ay ay ay. >> You already know why you asking me. >> Well, I know. I know. >> You already know why you asking >> I'm I'm just >> embarrassed >> All right. What's your name? >> Um Write in my van? >> You're just escorted from here. >> Okay. It's Ellia. E L L I Y A H. >> Her story quickly fell apart after the loss prevention team provided surveillance footage showing that she had acted alone in the theft. >> That's her right there getting stuff from around that deal. >> Mhm. >> Which I assume is most of what's in their bag. And right here, she's >> All righty. And then, what's the what's the total on this puppy? >> 30 >> Uh >> Your >> Subtotal only 31.97. >> Okay, got you. >> We don't get the tax. >> All right. You good? >> No, I'm not. >> You dying on me? >> It's hot in here. I've been dying for a long time. >> All right. So, we're going to start saying the truth or we just going to keep lying? >> what? >> About the shoplifting. I'm telling you, if you don't tell me the truth, I'm going to take you to jail. >> you, cuz I said everything that in that bag is your is theirs. >> Everything? >> Yes. >> I thought it was just the the little baggie. >> in this little baggie. >> Yeah, yeah. Okay. All right, so you took that, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay, so I'm going to give you a ticket. >> Okay. >> All right? Next time, let's try not to like do all this, "Oh, why are you stopping me?" and doing all that, cuz we're just wasting our time. >> me. I never >> No, no, no. I'm [laughter] saying like stopping. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah, like doing the whole, "I will check the cameras." and all that, because we can. >> me a hard time. >> I know. >> to give you a hard time throughout your day, right? >> I've had that. I've had that all day. >> I'm not a person today. Nobody's giving you a hard time but me. I'm >> Sure. All right. >> I'm sorry. >> All right, let me just write down the ticket, and then I'll let you get out of here. And then you're also trespassed from here, okay? So, you can't >> can never come back? >> You can't come back to here. >> other Walmart? What if I have to grocery shop? Or pick up some groceries? >> So, from what I know, it's this one. >> Okay. >> Okay? >> Thank you. >> You can't come back to this one. >> Okay. >> All right? >> want to come back anyways. Like I scared you or something. >> All right. So, what kind of music you like? Cuz we're going to be here for like 20 minutes. >> whatever you like. >> I'm Mexican. I'm Mexican. All right, then I'm going to put some freaking Mexican music. Do you have an ID with you? >> No, sir, I don't. >> Okay, then. >> Why are you >> Because I just mixed it longer. Now I have to type everything. Well, I have to type your name and all that stuff. Where is it at? Okay, then. >> Why do you need to call someone >> So, you can call someone. >> In the end, the woman was issued a non-traffic citation for shoplifting, and was trespassed from Walmart property. This case shows how changing stories and shifting blame can make a situation worse. Honesty and taking responsibility are often the best choices when evidence is already available, because attempts to avoid the truth can lead to more suspicion. Next, this elderly woman behaved in a way that was anything but mature. >> This is not right. I CAN'T BREATHE. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHY ARE YOU SQUISHING ME IN THE CAR? >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> I HAVE ASTHMA. AND I CAN'T >> STOP FIGHTING. >> I CAN'T BREATHE. >> ON THE 31ST of October, 2023, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a Party City store in Illinois after receiving a report of a woman suspected of shoplifting. From the very beginning, the situation quickly turned chaotic. >> 16 uh for five motor. >> WHAT ARE YOU THIS IS NOT RIGHT. I CAN'T BREATHE. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR back now. >> Okay, I will do that. >> GET ON THE GROUND NOW. >> I DON'T HAVE TO GET ON THE GROUND. >> GET ON THE GROUND WITH your hands on your back. >> YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT. >> HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. DO IT NOW. >> WHY ARE YOU SQUISHING ME IN THE CAR? >> HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> I HAVE ASTHMA. AND I CAN'T >> STOP FIGHTING. >> I CAN'T BREATHE. >> STOP FIGHTING. >> I can't breathe. >> She's kicking ME. >> I DON'T I HAVE ASTHMA. >> YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. >> CAN YOU PUSH? CAN you pull me out so I can breathe, please? I can't >> Put your hands on your back now. Let go. >> Okay. >> Put your hands on your back. >> I can't breathe. I can't breathe. >> Stop. >> She's kicking me. >> I can't I can't I can't breathe. >> All right, she's coughing. >> I can't I can't breathe. I can't breathe. Please. >> Stand up. >> Sit down. I NEED MY INHALER. WHAT THE LIKE, SERIOUSLY, WHAT THE >> SHE CLAIMED SHE HAD ASTHMA and couldn't breathe, yet she continuously talked without ever seeming out of breath, even while being escorted away, she kept walking and cursing at the officers the entire time. >> What are you doing, baby? YOU CAN'T TREAT ME SUCH A BIG BULLY. I CAN'T BREATHE. I JUST TOLD Y'ALL CUZ I HAVE ASTHMA. Y'ALL PISSING ME OFF. >> NO, that's fine. Face that way. What? freaking moving around. You got stuff in here. >> It don't matter what's in there. >> Well, it does matter what's in there. >> cuz y'all don't even have the right to I cannot breathe for what ARE YOU DOING THAT? >> STOP. Trying to take this off you. >> Okay, well take your off then. Damn, y'all sitting here doing the most to me. Y'all just dressed all me up. >> Stop acting like this. >> I DON'T HAVE TO. I HAVE THE RIGHT TO. I CAN'T BREATHE. Y'ALL JUST SAT ON ME. BOTH OF Y'ALL WITH YOUR FOOT ON MY NECK. >> NOBODY HAD any foot on your neck. >> You did. >> I don't know that. >> I can't breathe. What the [ __ ] Can I move my arms so I can get open my chest case for me to breathe? NO, I'M NOT. CAN YOU PUT MY ARMS OPEN SO I CAN FREAKING BREATHE? I CAN'T. >> HEY, QUIT YELLING. >> I CAN'T. >> YES, YOU CAN. CLEARLY THE OFFICERS RECOGNIZED THE tactics the woman was trying to use. Nothing she did afterwards changed the outcome. You got stuff all over her. Why you act like this? >> I can't freaking breathe. You did You did I did not have to do that. >> Quit acting like that. >> Talking about quit acting like that. >> Quit acting like that. Grow up. Yeah, I got this on camera from her, so need you to grab it while we take her. Hold the >> I got her. She ain't going nowhere. >> I'm not trying to get away. I don't want to hurt you. >> Relax. Relax. Relax. No, I'm not holding you tight at all, honey. I can barely get a pressure on you. Relax. Relax. >> No one had anything on your freaking neck. >> Relax. Relax. >> Well, why did you run? >> I did not run. >> She has [ __ ] inside of her. >> I got it inside of her coat. >> Inside of her coat? >> Oh, yeah. What you got inside of your coat, honey? >> Hands up. >> Okay, I'll I'm going to move. You you don't have to push so much. >> No, she got it. >> I got her. >> It's inside her coat, yeah. >> Yes. >> Thing you called, you got to pay for stuff. Okay? And then we have to pay. Here, we have to search her purse, ma'am. >> She didn't get nothing else. >> You want to go back there and look back in there? >> Her hands are up in that coat. >> There's nothing else in the damn coat. >> There's nothing I can see. >> Will you please let me get my bag out? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Officers then searched her bag and found multiple stolen items, confirming the shoplifting allegations. They also discovered that she had been arrested just a few weeks earlier on an aggravated battery charge. >> Oh, yeah, their phone is, too. We'll get that. >> Yeah, you got it. >> Yeah, man, you should know her.
