I don't want to go to jail. Nobody wants to go to jail, but don't steal. There ain't no paper saying you can shoplift that's going to give you a pass. Shut your mouth. >> Do you have a driver's license or ID? >> She said no, I don't. >> These thieves went as far as pushing entire carts of stolen goods out of the store, yet they lacked the courage to face the consequences they had caused. Crying or running away changed nothing. Everything unfolded in today's video, cop surprise stop a shoplifter stealing an entire cart from Walmart. We are This is Law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Starting with these suspects who showed no sense of shame at all. >> Oh yeah, shut the and don't say anything else. Keep your hands out your pocket. Do you understand me? >> Yeah, can I make a call? >> On the 30th of April 2024, police received a report from a Walmart store about a theft that had occurred. The suspect was believed to be a man with unusual behavior. Not only that, there were other individuals, including one man and one woman, believed to be accomplices alongside him. And more clearly, shortly after, the black-clad suspect separated from the group and began stuffing all merchandise into his bag as if no one could see him. The remaining suspects were also not innocent. Although they did not conceal merchandise, during self-checkout they used the skip scan method. The police were already waiting at the store entrance. These were what happened when they approached the suspects. >> I got the car. Come on. All right, we're going to search y'all real quick just to make sure y'all don't have no weapons on y'all in this room with >> I came in with that bag. I didn't take nothing. >> I didn't broke >> Hold on, hold on. You know what I'm talking about. You know what I'm talking about. Don't try to talk. Turn around real quick and let me make sure you just don't got no weapons on you like too. >> No weapons, man. >> Make sure >> And and that that bag was mine. I got all that stuff. >> Sir, please stop turning around. Just face this way. That's it. Spread your legs. >> Huh? >> All right, come see what you got in your pockets. Now, same thing. I'm going to just check for weapons. That's it. This one. This one. >> The man showed irritation at what was happening as if it made him appear innocent while each item in their bags was being inspected. >> And this this red bag alone Hey, look. Ain't nothing but Dove. All this is Dove. Everything. Come on. What you doing? Stop. What is that? That's Oh, one of them marked reefer cigars. Yep. I'll put that back in Cuz no, see that hole? I'll put it back in here. Cuz Oh, yeah, you know what yeah, [ __ ] Keep your stuff cold. All right. A bunch of Magnums in here. Come on. That [ __ ] is salty. Yep. >> The shoplifting plan was simple. They stole most of the merchandise while pretending to pay for a portion in order to obtain a receipt and continued hiding the unpaid items in their bags. Even when exposed like this, they showed no remorse. >> That's why I was like, huh? Wait a minute, let me look at this. That's why I was like, chips on him. Wait a minute. They folded the vitamins. That's what they gave back to the association. That's all I know. No, yeah, that's what I was about to say. I was about to miss it. >> That's It's not even my car. Look, you have to ask them if we slide. Just let us slide by. We won't come back. I I won't come back in there. >> Oh, we know you ain't coming back. That ain't going to happen. >> I just Just let me Just let me slide, please. I know something. Yeah, that's crazy. >> That's not how that works, okay? >> He even began begging to be released and promised never to return. Not stopping there, he started taking all the blame onto himself in an attempt to shift responsibility away from his accomplices. >> Can she pay for it? >> No. >> We passed all that. >> We passed all that. We passed the point of stealing. Can we pay for it? Just pay for the shoes. This for the shoes. >> I can't pay for something that's stolen. >> I thought it was Can we Can we pay for Ronnie? I don't get blamed for they stole like It was Y'all Y'all can't tell me from my stuff. Really, I Really, I seen them and I was weak then. I came here by myself. To be honest, man. >> It's still the officer's call, okay? Now, you got caught, but now you upset cuz you might go to jail. That's not how this works, okay? >> There, I don't want to go to jail. >> Nobody wants to go to jail, but don't steal. >> I'm trying to like >> You're not listening, okay? We're not doing that. Hold on. Absolutely not. No, there you go. No, we let you make that call. The man showed no remorse. He was only frustrated that time in jail would waste his benefit payments, but it didn't stop there. His increasingly stubborn behavior only made the situation more tense. What does that paperwork say? That if you steal that it's Hey, hey, hey, hey. Everybody Hey, quit digging in your pants, man. Get your hands out your pants. Move back. All right, listen, listen. You shut up, okay? Y'all doing Be quiet. Y'all be quiet. Y'all doing too much, okay? It's all right to be nice to y'all, but you all act like you crazy. Hey, shut up. There ain't no paper saying you can shoplift that's going to give you a pass. Shut your mouth. You know what this is, dude? That's it. You keep acting up, I'm going to put hands on you. You digging in your crotch, I'm going to put hands on you. Chill out. You understand? Do you understand? >> Yes, sir. >> Stop playing that crazy Don't you crazy. Now, y'all about You ain't HELPING THE CASE. SHUT >> UP. >> I CAN'T BE >> YOU'RE NOT HELPING YOUR CASE. You keep talking. SHUT THE Y'ALL PISSING ME OFF. >> Y'ALL BE QUIET, MAN. >> NOW, YOU WANT A FELONY OR NOT? >> NO, SIR. I don't want no felony. >> I don't want no felony, man. >> I don't want no felony. >> Now, chill the >> Say [ __ ] >> All y'all, shut the >> Okay. >> You keep acting crazy, I'mma take you myself. >> Okay. Just be quiet. >> Now, all y'all shut the and don't say anything else. Keep your out your pocket. You understand me? You do that, I'mma put hands on you myself. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> All of the suspects appeared to be experienced shoplifters as they showed no signs of fear or anxiety. Even while being handcuffed, they seemed more concerned about their personal belongings than about the wrongdoing they had committed. >> I can't get my phone. >> No. >> I Well, could I get my phone now? >> You can get your phone when you get to the jail, okay? >> And I got money in there, too. >> I know how much money you got. This I'll give you all your property. >> And my bags. What y'all going to do with the alcohol? >> Throw that away. >> Okay. What about my bags? >> Or you want another charge for selling alcohol? >> No. >> Hold on. >> I can't swear like I got to keep the receipt. >> Now, you can sit down. >> Okay. Y'all can let me >> Yeah, let me borrow yours. You can Those are both of them are mine. I just borrow your coat for the rest of the day. >> Yeah? >> Yeah. >> Is my phone in there? >> Yeah. I got my wallet in my pocket. >> Was there a phone in there, camera? >> No. They're up here. >> Is your cell phone? Is your cell phone? Yeah, can I make a call? Oh, no. No, no. You're going to have to call when you get to the station. >> The suspects were convicted of organized retail theft and payment fraud at Walmart. Even when concealed through sophisticated methods such as pretending to pay or splitting up to act separately will ultimately be discovered and lead to serious legal consequences. While a lack of remorse only makes the situation worse for the offenders themselves. Worse, the woman used her own display of remorse to hinder the investigation. >> Stationary items, electronics, some apparel and some like >> I'm going to get arrested. >> On the 12th of July, 2025, officers were dispatched to a Target store after receiving a report of a woman committing theft there. Upon arrival, the loss prevention staff quickly provided the information they had gathered. >> Ma'am, everyone, hello. >> Hello. Hi. >> So, unfortunately, due to the dollar amount, we did have to contact the Wilson Police Department. So, >> How much was it? >> Um, the total is $202.30. Um, it's a mix of like stationary items, electronics, some apparel and some like market items and some food items. So, you're admitting um, everything you tried to take, which was $202.30. So, I need your signature on the first line and today's date. >> I'm going to get arrested. >> All right, what happened from the beginning of the evening? >> Okay. So, uh, basically, while I was uh, walking the sales floor, I passed by and I observed um, her stealing some merchandise. As you can see like in the video, this thing and I started putting this thing inside the Target bag. So, I went back here, I viewed the footage, I saw her selecting it. Um, so I can see her doing it and then she went into the Starbucks where she opened up some couple electronics items, I can see her doing it as well. >> Okay. >> So, then when she went to the exit, um, I took a look at the bike security over here, approached her and identified her as the suspect and then brought her back here. And then, um, we reviewed it and saw the rest of the items. >> It seemed the woman could not deny anything stated by the loss prevention staff, and she even began to show remorse and cry. >> I didn't go to jail. I'm so sorry. I don't want to go to jail. I'm so sorry that I swear to god today. I swear to god today I got paid. I'm sorry. >> All right, this is part 280. The radio signal is pretty bad at Target. I can't even talk to you in there. So, the warrant out of Texas, the script is one more time. I don't I don't I caught part of it, but I don't think it Just to verify. And, do you have a driver's license or ID? She said no, not at all. >> Have you ever had one? >> Have you ever had one? Yeah, I asked if she ever had one. They were asking for that. Also, can you send FD? She's like hyperventilating and stuff. We want to make sure she's all right. Yeah, we're in the security office at Target. All right, thank you. >> I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I swear to god today I got paid. I swear to god today I got paid. I'm so >> Do you want to try some water? Try drinking some water, ma'am. >> Her condition made it difficult for officers to gather information about her, forcing them to call for medical assistance shortly after to ensure her safety. >> Uh we have a young lady we have in custody for retail theft, and she is hyperventilating and stuff now. We just want to make sure >> How's it going? Okay, slowly breathe in, and then slowly breathe out, okay? I know you're sorry, but just calm down, okay? We need you to stay calm. Right now. Is it hard to breathe? No. Do you have asthma? >> No. >> No. Okay. >> I have a shortness of breath often. Is that a good sign? >> Uh-oh. Hold on. I'm I'm standing next to Park. I I said I heard the weed got it. So, I I figured I had to call you and let you know. Next time you you inquire and check with the paper cop first. All right. We got it. >> My bad. >> No, man. It's a little simple retail theft. They They should have had this whole [ __ ] like 5:30. And here we is now it's 7:30. 2 hours on this small retail theft. They had nobody this whole time. That's wild. Then we waiting on the female search. I I know Bland was here cuz I saw her get up on time. So, I mean like you know. You could have just came and knocked that little part of this out. >> It seemed the woman's behavior was not simply a result of psychological distress, and officers began exchanging their own assessments of the situation. >> 5:30 you ain't had nobody. There was a 6:00 or 7:00 had to come over here. And then she was hyperventilating and doing a whole bunch of other stuff. So, it's like here we we on the clock, you know what I'm saying? Could possibly be a medical issue now. 2 hours. >> 6:00 I understand, but 7:00 is basically >> No, she was like 20. Uh I think Park said possibly out of Texas. She said she ain't never been there before. She seemed a little delayed. So, I don't know. >> All right. >> Thanks for checking with the paper cop next time. All right. >> My bad. >> You're right. >> We got it. Smith already knew that was coming. >> Huh? >> I said Smith should have already known that was coming. This mean I'm going to be shot in both feet or nothing or cause a on-the-job injury. Can't give you my court date now. Yeah, you need to look that up. Yep. Yeah, you got a picture of the court key on you? >> They're here. >> Oh, okay. You got a picture of the court key on you? >> Uh no, I don't. >> So, cuz I got to do my misdemeanor today, right? >> Uh yeah. >> Yeah, let me I I feel like I saw something I took a picture of at one point. >> Once the woman had calmed down, officers carefully explained what she might be facing before escorting her out. >> I've never been to Texas. >> Fair enough. We need to do some paperwork. >> To the precinct? To the precinct? Gentlemen, are you saying you're at the precinct? >> Yeah, we're going to go down to the uh department real quick. >> some paperwork, fingerprint, and then you'll be out of there. >> Yeah, they're just going to do some paperwork. You're not going to be held overnight. Just uh you're going to have to sit while they do some paperwork for a little bit and then they'll be you'll be released from there, okay? They're just going to give you a court date, all right? Go ahead and stand up. >> Just stand up for me, please. Let's see your hands. You need to turn around. I got to put them behind your back. All right, you're all right. You can walk with me, please. All right, we'll get all your stuff. >> I'm so sorry. I'll never do it again. I always mess my life up. I get >> You can go ahead and have a seat. Pretty short. Okay. All right, I'll be there right over there. There you go. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting and criminal trespass after warning. Deception and inconsistency only deepen suspicion when actions and words don't align, the consequences tend to escalate quickly. Next, the two women even continued to lie despite being caught red-handed by the police. >> stuff and then they go pay for two or three things, or they come up here and bring up stuff and say their car doesn't work. >> Why am I being handcuffed? >> For theft, okay? >> For theft? For theft? Look, this is my first time I've been in this situation. >> On the 3rd of October, 2024, the police received a call from a shopping store reporting a theft committed by two women. More specifically, the following was the employee's statement regarding the incident. >> Okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Mhm. So, are they still in here right now doing it? Okay. So, they're like it's in progress essentially. Okay. And they see that my bags just got here, too, so um I will wait for them to come in and then we'll head in there. So, this back end over here through here. Okay. Thank you. Yeah, yeah. >> What are we doing? Are we waiting for them to actually steal? >> That's what I'm wondering. >> Are you working overtime days? You just wait for them so you have something to do? What's the word? >> This is what they look like. Now, she has this bag in the basket and the other bag. And as I'm going past the men's shoes now, you can kind of see her in the basket. >> She's putting items in there? >> You can kind of see her working in there. She's got watches, she's got shoes, they got all kinds of stuff in that basket. And this one, her backpack looks a little bigger than it was when she got here. But they're both in the back corner of our store right now, so Yeah, that's usually the ones that hang out by the men's shoes are usually the ones that hit the emergency door, so >> And there are Is there four of them or just those two? >> Two. And he said that two of the the other two people that came in at the same time as them >> They already leave? >> This gentleman and another guy that came in right behind him, they've walked out already. >> Oh. With items or without? Okay, just >> They just They came in, kind of looked around, and then they left. And >> Due to store policy, the police were unable to apprehend them at the scene. However, the moment they stepped outside the doors, officers quickly moved in and took action. >> Hey man, can we talk to you real quick? Can we talk to you real quick? >> Yes. >> Uh so the store um >> Yeah, we put every We didn't We put everything back. >> Okay, they watched you guys trespass. >> Okay. >> So where are If you don't Do you have any ID on you? >> No, I don't. I have warrants. >> Okay. How we doing? >> How are you? >> How we doing? So Okay, so the store watched you guys trespass. >> Okay. >> Do you have any ID on you? >> Uh no, I'm from California. >> California? Okay. My ID >> was in my purse when I got robbed. Two each like this. And then uh what's your >> Courtney. >> Um okay. We're We're going to work through this. What What's your last name? Ma'am, what's your last >> Okay. >> Do either of them have anything on them right now? >> In their bags. They still >> Both of them? >> in their bags. I know this lady with the ones on her body. Those are the ones that she had in the basket. >> Okay. Do we know for sure about the other girl kind of walking away? >> Um I'm not positive, but I know her backpack is the full of it. >> Okay, but for sure the white jacket one, for sure. Okay. >> First time. >> Okay. So we're going to go ahead. Go ahead. Take this back off, okay? >> Okay. >> Just relax. >> All right. >> I'm going to take this one off as well. >> Why? Am I being arrested, sir? >> So we'll explain in just a second, okay? >> Okay, but why am I being arrested? But why am I being handcuffed? >> The women acted confused and shocked by what the police were doing to them, but they did not realize that the evidence inside their backpacks had already made the case nearly impossible to dispute. >> That's our stuff. That's why I said there's nothing in there. >> Talk to him. Is this your guys's product? You're saying that it's hers. >> No, both of them are both of them are over here. >> Okay. >> Shoes is not >> Not your guys's? >> No. >> And then whatever those headphones aren't either. The BT uh BT21? >> Let me ask the manager. >> Okay. You say American Eagle, so I'm assuming no for how it's shoes or the uh headphones. >> No, those aren't from here. >> Okay. That's just the first bag, so Yeah. What bag was she putting it in? >> Uh those the the >> So both of the duffel bags. So not this one. >> Yeah. >> Ah, okay. Okay. Whose stuff is this? >> That's mine. >> Okay. Oh, not not to that part yet? Oh, all right, my bad. Hey, you said that So the the only thing out of that bag is the coats? >> I promise you that. >> Okay. Is there anything in her bags? >> I don't know. That's that's our stuff. That's in the >> In the back? >> Inside the the coat is theirs. Other than that is the that's our stuff. >> Okay. >> I I promise you that. We're not lying to you at all. So >> Ma'am, is there anything in that bag that we need to know about that belongs to the store? >> No. >> I don't think so. I think everything >> Um it's okay. Do you just just set it here. I just wanted to know if you just just Okay, so just don't open that right now. >> The employee confirmed that all the merchandise belonged to the store and there was already sufficient evidence to proceed. At that point, the officers returned to the suspect to inform her of this conclusion. >> All right. Well, you lied, like I knew you did. >> Well, I lied about what? >> Cuz there's two watches in there and there's a watch in there. >> Oh, that was >> Ah. >> Okay. Okay. I didn't know. >> That's why I always check. >> Okay, well I wasn't >> That's confirmed. >> Good. Okay, they're confirmed. So she is under arrest now for sure. So if you want to continue searching or take her, you know, the bags, all that kind of stuff. So Okay. >> And the boots, the snakeskin boots. Yes, this is she. >> I think you had like five theft shoplifting warrants? >> Four. >> Four? Oh, sorry. It's probably getting real rough to give you a break if you got five shoplifting >> I have a I have the court dates one. >> I'm not trying to get you busted. I just want to help you. >> get me busted. I'm just being honest. And you have one of them. >> You got to stop stealing. You got to. You're doing a lot of you You got a good work ethic if you you got this much going on. >> I just I'm I'm trying I'm trying I'm trying. I I I know. >> Okay. Just see Did anybody tell you you had the family warrant out of state? Okay. That will not go away ever. It's going to be there forever, so at some point they'll probably get fed up and take you. Just know. All right. You're just going to have to sit Yep, it's okay. >> Immediately after successfully detaining the suspects, officers returned inside the store where the employee once again recounted the entire incident, further confirming their brazen and arrogant behavior throughout the theft. >> And when did they When soon as they entered the store they got busted? >> Uh they went to shoes, women's shoes, and they went to the baby section. And that was the first place that we seen them acting a little suspicious. They were kind of just grabbing shoes, and then they would start the conversations when we came over like, "Oh, what size shoe does this nephew wear or that nephew wear?" And I'm like, "You're in women's shoes talking about what your nephew wears." Um from there, the one with the white sweater and the black stretch pants, um we saw her leave shoes, and then she kind of come out in the girls' section. The other one began to run kind of back and forth. She was like grabbing stuff and bringing it to her, grabbing stuff, and they had the basket with a bunch of different stuff in it. >> And they had like a little basket that you carry around? >> Yeah, it No, it was a cart. >> A cart, okay. >> And then um they had came here, grabbed a couple watches, went over here in our queuing, grabbed a couple wallets, um and then they were hanging out in the men's shoe section. So, I walked past them about three or four times, and I had noticed the things in the basket slowly disappearing. Like I walked by, you didn't go anywhere, but the watches are gone, the wallets are gone, these things are gone, and their bags were now stuffed with things. Um at that point, it was about 5 6 minutes before that when I called you guys cuz I noticed the suspicious behavior. Um after that, they attempted to come up to the register. Um they took two things out of the basket, a pair of shoes and a kids' jacket, and told my cashier, oh. >> Finally, the two women were formally charged with shoplifting. Repeated dishonest actions will eventually lead to undeniable evidence against you, and attempts to appear innocent cannot erase responsibility once the truth is exposed. Next, the woman became completely consumed by her own fabricated story. >> The better part of 15 minutes in the bathroom. >> Well, I was actually because I was upset. We had an argument and he said >> Huh? >> We were upset. >> Because right now nothing you're saying is adding up. >> On the 14th of June, 2024, officers received a report from an airport regarding a theft that had occurred. The suspect was believed to be a woman who had fled into a restroom immediately after committing the act. This was what happened when officers arrived at the scene. >> Because I saw her I saw her sleeping on a bench because I was >> Hey doing ma'am, do you have your ID on you? >> Yeah. >> Thank you. Come right over here for me. You want to tell me what happened over Hudson News? >> So, I kept stalling. I told the lady that I had >> You would Speak up, please. >> I was stalling. I kept walking around in circles and the lady was like >> You were stung? >> Kind of like stalling like I was walking around in circles and the lady kept following me. She kept saying, >> What are you doing? What What are you doing? >> Can you run her, please? >> Uh every five minutes she asked me what was wrong. It was So, I said, I'm trying to buy something. So, she said, well, you need to, you know, what are you doing here? And so, I just stood there and it was like she was trying to make sure I didn't steal or she just She kept watching. So, the last thing I did, she was like, you have a soda or a hoodie and I'm like, No. >> She said you took something ran in the bathroom. You wouldn't stop and you told her She asked you to stop. >> Well, I cursed her out because >> Well, I mean, do you do you understand from her perspective how she believes you you took something and then ran off from her when she asked you to stop, you didn't stop, and then you basically took the better part of 15 minutes in the bathroom. >> Well, I was actually because I was upset. We had an argument and she said, so I came in the bathroom >> Okay. >> The woman denied her act of theft, but everything remained suspicious as even her presence at the airport had no clear reason. >> Are you heading somewhere right now, or are you homeless? >> United. >> Do you have a United ticket? >> No, that's why I came to get it. >> Okay, you were here yesterday apparently as well. You were seen here yesterday. So, you're homeless then? >> No, no. >> So, why are you just hanging out at the airport? This is not a hotel. >> I'm not staying. >> Okay, so you can't just hang out at the airport. Okay, so you're going to be What do you Guys, do you want trespass or not trespass? She said she's waiting to purchase a United a United airline ticket. >> You're waiting to purchase it? >> Yeah. >> You're waiting on funds to purchase it, or what is it that you're waiting on? >> A refund. >> A what? >> A refund. I missed my flight. I missed my flight. >> You missed your flight? Okay. Um, have you made arrangements for that yet? >> Uh, I would like to, but I don't I would like to, but >> Do you have a ticket that shows that you missed a flight? >> Uh, no, that's why I came to talk. >> See how this is getting really suspicious? You're basically stealing from there. You're running in the bathroom. You're hanging out there for 15 minutes. You're telling me you got a ticket now, but you don't have any mention of that now. You initially said you're going to get a ticket. Don't have the funds to do it. What's going on here? Honest with Be honest. >> I can show them my ID. I don't have the printout and you know that and I don't have the printout of the ticket, but all they have to do is just pull it up. I purchased it. They can pull it up. >> What airline did you purchase it from? >> United, sir. >> So, you purchased a ticket through United? >> I I can't find >> Where were you going on United? >> Philadelphia. >> Philadelphia. And when were you supposed to leave? >> I was supposed to leave yesterday. >> What time? >> 11:08. >> Everything the woman said was nearly impossible to believe, and even her missed flight had been constantly questioned. >> But they said that they When was your When was your When did you miss your flight, ma'am? >> Yesterday. >> Yesterday, okay. And you were not at the airport yesterday at 11:05? >> I was I was here yesterday, but he said, "I know it's not a hotel, but it was like I just kind of just stay here until I get a >> But you were here, and you missed your flight? And then after you missed your flight, you did not go to the counter to make arrangements for your flight to be >> There was no one there. There were no more flights to go out of the Delta we left with United. >> Yes. >> What did he tell you? >> Well, I have an email and it has the the price and everything that it cost. So, they told me to leave and I'll try to you know get another flight once it's commission flight. >> You have no Where is this email? You have it on your phone? >> No, that's why I can't get >> So, how do you know you have an email if you don't have access to email? >> Once you have Once you purchase a ticket, sir, they just send you an email. >> Well, how So, you're assuming that you don't know that. Cuz you don't have access to email. >> No. >> So, you lied about you said you saw the email. >> I did, but my phone died. So, but they >> This story is getting worse and worse to be completely honest with you. >> I'm not lying. >> Just be honest with me and I'll I'll work with you, but if I go down to United Healthcare and they say you don't have a ticket, never had a ticket, what do you think I'm going to do at that point in time? >> Be upset. >> Huh? >> Be upset. >> Because right now nothing you're saying is adding up. >> The woman had the entire previous day to make arrangements to secure another ticket instead of lingering there until today, and officers questioned this as well, but she still failed to provide a clear answer. >> You have no You don't You haven't purchased a ticket. You spent wasted all day yesterday not getting a ticket. >> But I don't have any money and I can't get a ticket. >> So, how do you going to get a ticket today? >> I'm going to see if I can get another flight today. >> But you don't have funds for a ticket. >> What if if you they cancel the flight, you just get a refund. >> You didn't cancel it. You said you missed the flight. >> It's what happens when you miss the flight. >> Huh? >> What happens when you miss the flight? >> You missed the flight. You got to pay a fee to get it rebook your flight. >> Are we okay? >> Yes. >> Yes, you can go around. Go around, please. When was the last time you were arrested? >> Um so, yeah. >> A week, a month, a year, what? >> I would say it was sometime >> Here in Orlando? For what? Can't remember I was arrested for. One of the most traumatic days of most people's lives, you can't remember. When you shoplift, and then you run to the bathroom, and then you come up with a story about how you were going to stay here, you didn't rebook a flight, and all everything you're saying is not checking out. Well, the bottom line is they they're going to trespass you from the airport. You have to leave the airport. Wait 1 second. We'll give you the paperwork in just a second, okay? You have family in Orlando? >> She spoke without even blinking, as if she had done this many times before. At that point, airport authorities had already made their decision regarding her behavior. >> Down to the first floor. I'll go with you. Let's go. >> Ma'am, you have to be aware I'm supposed to trespass and I'm supposed to come back to the airport and I'm supposed to be seen here. If you have official business, if you have to fly out of here, you have to call the airport and let them know. If you are seen on property again, you are subject to being arrested, okay? >> All right, I don't want to cause any trouble, sir. >> Let's go that way, across the way. We're going to go down to the first floor. Ma'am, this way. See the big red A? >> It seemed the woman would simply be trespassed and allowed to leave, but officers quickly discovered this was not her first offense, causing the situation to take a different turn. >> So, how many times have you trespassed from here before? >> Uh just once. >> So, you have been trespassed from here before? And when was that? >> This is my first time. >> You're sure about that now? >> The only other time was when I got here. >> When you got here? >> This is like the second time I've been >> So, this is the second time you've been trespassed? >> Second time here, sir. >> Yes, sir. Where did all your stuff go? >> Okay. >> It's all off. How did it go? >> Oh, my ID's here. Can I put this in here, please? >> Put it in. >> Okay, I'll put it back. >> You've already been trespassed before. So, this is You're now being arrested for trespass after warning. Have a good afternoon. >> What's that? >> But I they said I could come back once I have a flight. >> When did they say you could come back? >> Uh once I have a flight, sir. >> Once you coordinate with Did you coordinate with the >> You never You never let me go back up there to coordinate. You just told me to leave. >> No, no, no. This is not >> I'm only allowed to come back >> The money's still in there, so >> Oh, I'm only allowed to come back if I have a flight. That's what they said, sir. So I have to >> Did you coordinate with >> I just tried to and you just told me that I had to have a >> Yeah, but this isn't the first time you've been trespassed, so, ma'am. >> But I'm allowed to come back if I have a flight and I know >> Yes, and they also told you specifically on camera that you had to coordinate with the airport. >> Well, you said don't tell me how to do my job, please. >> I'm I'm okay, thank you, sir. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting and criminal trespass after warning. Actions built on lies and avoidance only made the situation worse. Taking responsibility early could have prevented far more serious consequences. Next, the man believed he could innocently talk his way out of the consequences. >> I need me a handcuff. >> What I'm going to do is I'm going to do this for her for you and I'm going to go ahead and do it for you, okay? >> That's the only question I got. >> So, the reason >> On the 28th of August, 2025, officers were dispatched to a Walmart after receiving reports of a man committing theft. And upon arriving at the scene, officers approached the man, but what happened next turned out to be far more unexpected. >> So, I received >> Don't need to see it. >> We already got the We already got it. >> Don't need to see it, man. Put it away. >> Okay, we got a receipt. >> Go ahead and put your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> SIR, WE GOT A RECEIPT. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> STILL 35, WHAT YOU GOT ON IT? >> WHAT? PUT 35 DOWN THERE. WE BOUGHT THAT. >> PUT YOUR [ __ ] HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> WE BOUGHT IT. I PROMISE WE BOUGHT IT. If I bought it, I don't Yep. We're good. Thank you. Do we take the cuffs off ourselves? >> Yeah. Huh? Yes, sir. We did. >> Chill, dude. We watched you here the whole time. Stop. >> Don't tell me I'm doing what though. >> Stop. We're going to wait. You'll be all right. >> The man attempted to deny fleeing when officers approached him, and not only that, he also denied the theft itself, making it a stubborn move despite knowing his escape had already failed. >> Oh, the one you returned? Yeah. >> So, stop. >> Yeah, yeah, we'll do it in there. We'll unhook them in there. >> We'll unhook them when we get inside, man. >> You're not listening. >> I thought we just bought what you got now. I was like this. My thing bought it. I'm trying to explain to y'all. Y'all not trying to talk though. >> Please tell them that we bought it, baby. >> Let's go. Let's go. Literally, let it go. >> Oh, yeah, yeah, you >> I thought it was petty though. I thought we could just bought this [ __ ] though. We could have paid for this [ __ ] I already bought the [ __ ] Just one time. >> All right. So, the reason why I obviously want to make contact with you >> Talk to me. >> is because you literally switched it. You put the the one that you purchased or whatever I don't know that you had, you put it on the shelf and got the new one and returned it. That's fraud return. >> Oh, no, no, no. I was going to turn I didn't I didn't want them to decline me because of the [ __ ] >> But that's not how it works. That's not how it works. That's not how it works. That's not how it works. >> Although he tried to appear calm, the man clearly showed anxiety on his face and even after being tased, he continued to deny his earlier actions. >> Oh, we're not running from the law. I'm just trying to talk to them and ask them why they trying to put me in handcuffs. >> What I'm going to do is I'm going to do this for you and I'm going to do this for you, okay? >> That's the only question I got. >> So, the reason the reason like >> No, I'm not mad at you. I'm mad I'm I'm No, I'm trying to fight him though. I'm not mad I'm not mad at you. I'm I'm just saying that I was trying to ask a question and they trying to arrest me. >> No, they're trying to tase you. That's different. Hey, hey, I saw you. That's the one that you purchased. You still the one that you purchased. You still tried to walk out with that after you did the exchange. So, that's the reason why we're making contact with you. Okay. And they're making contact. So, it's still theft at the end of the day. See what I'm trying to say? >> So, it's still theft. So, what I'm trying to know, Mr. Bowers, what I'm trying to explain to you I heard you under arrest and I'm trying to explain to y'all the situation. And I'm taking that's under arrest though, but I'm trying to explain to you but I'm trying to >> I didn't know you were going to do that. You didn't even give them a chance to listen to you. >> And I understand that and I'm trying to I'm trying to And I'm trying to I'm trying to explain and I'm trying to explain to them though. That's what I'm trying to explain in my mindset. What my I'm trying to explain to y'all what my head at though. I didn't know that. I'm taking under arrest for what? My question is for what? Can I explain myself? We going to talk? As soon as I try to explain myself, y'all talking about y'all tackling me. >> It could be said that the man was attempting to manipulate the situation in multiple ways from trying to justify himself to portraying himself as a victim, but the officers remained firm in their stance. >> What am I getting arrested for? >> Well, you didn't I was telling you that she didn't want to talk to begin with. >> How am I >> I'm asking questions and and the officers are moving away and I'm asking questions, y'all supposed to talk. If y'all say, "Hey, we need to bring you over here to talk." I was already walking that way before somebody grabbed me talking about arresting me. >> They they literally grabbed you. >> And I and I was moving with him, but he tried to put me in in handcuffs for what? So, we're talking, but we're going to talk. Why am I going to handcuffs for? You get what my mindset is? If we're going to talk. >> No. >> Ask him. Mr. When he first walked up to me, was I loud? Was I rowdy? >> No, but >> What you did was still wrong. No, I'm not I'm not defending that, though. >> Yeah. I'm just saying what you did is still wrong. >> Yeah, I'm not defending that at all, though, but I'm talking about the the part after that. >> Can you Can you listen to this stuff for me, please? Do you have any more issues? >> Just the right one. >> That's the only other issue you have? Just the right one? >> No, of course not. I told y'all I explained y'all I explained I already explained to y'all why though. You know what I'm saying? I'm I explained to you I explained to y'all I'm not trying to >> This is why I just wait >> I'm going to read you your Miranda and then if you want to provide us with a statement, you can, okay? >> What are you on probation for? >> Huh? What are you on probation for? >> Oh, just driving. >> Just driving? >> Yes, sir. >> Do you have a license to drive it? >> He completely immersed himself in a naive act of pretending innocence and shortly after the officers explained what consequences he would be facing. >> So, even if I'm even if I'm explaining to you guys that I was not trying to run away, I'm just trying to ask why am I being arrested? >> detaining you, okay? >> I'm I didn't know why I didn't know why, though. >> Police said you were >> But, I'm trying to When I was trying to ask you, you you started yanking on me tighter. I'm like, "What the >> Pulling away. >> Cuz I'm trying to ask a question. I ain't think I had to be under arrest first then ask my question. That's That's all I'm saying, though. That's all I'm saying, though. I didn't know that. >> That's where we're at, okay? >> You're under arrest for just being violent and fighting. >> Okay. >> Uh you're being trespassed from here for both of you. You're being trespassed from here for 2 years. You cannot come on this property in the next 2 years or you'll be placed under arrest for trespassing all right. That means the property all the way out to 7/19. You go like the Chili's and stuff like that but you cannot hang out on this property or this parking lot. >> I Mr. Man. So if I'm sitting here and explaining to them that I only was trying to ask a question. And not trying to resist why it came why we can't have that conversation or that conversation on the table. If I'm explaining it to them that that was not my intention. My intention you got to understand I'm coming out of the store and I've been I've been asked in handcuffs but my question was why? Soon as I asked why he you brought you roughed me up. I'm not even I'm not even doing anything. I'm asking a question. He said walk to the My first statement was walk here. I'm on the verge of walking here he grabbed me telling me you got to get and there's two of us now. Only one person getting grabbed talking about being put on the and put in handcuffs. Two people being trespassed. >> They're saying they were that you were detained. >> I didn't understand but soon as I soon as I asked why >> Can we It it was >> They're saying you're detained. You resisted at some point. Okay? And we're not going to have court in here. >> No no of course not. >> They're saying you resisted without violence. By trying to pull away or whatever whatever occurred. >> In the end he was charged with second-degree petty theft and resisting an officer without violence. Small calculated dishonesty can quickly spiral into serious legal consequences especially when paired with denial and resistance instead of accountability. Even in terms of naivety this man was no different. >> Face and face the car. >> Wait get out you're being detained. >> Okay. >> Don't mess with me. >> I'm not. I'm begging. >> On your stance. You have anything on you while in your stance? >> No. >> You have anything on you that's going to poke me cut me or hurt me? >> No. >> On the 19th of February 2023 officers received a call reporting a purse snatching and the suspect was believed to be a man who had fled the scene in a vehicle. Shortly after officers quickly located the suspect and moved in to stop him. This was what unfolded next. >> Thank you. >> Yep. >> I'm the one that called. >> Do you still have the purse? >> Yep, we got it back. >> You got the purse back? >> This guy brought it back for me. >> Okay. Hey, bro. Get out of the car. >> Yeah. >> Get out of the car. Get out of the car if you can. Get out of the car now. >> Yes. >> Get out. Face and face the car. >> Wait, can I >> Get out. You're being detained. >> Okay. >> Don't mess with me. >> I'm not. Hey. >> Face the car then we'll talk about it. Face the car. Very easy. Don't move. >> I'm not. >> Keep your other hand on your head. >> Thanks. Put your >> other hand on your head. Thanks, bro. Other hand right here. >> Okay. >> Put it here. We'll talk afterwards. >> Okay. >> You're not going to do anything right now. >> Stop. >> Got it? >> Yes. >> 611 1 to 10. >> Wait. Hold on. Can you guys listen to me, please? >> Not yet. You're detained. We're going to figure it out. You got it? Stop. Just stop talking. Can you hear me? Thank you, sir. Hey, hey. I'm going to Mirandize you before you say anything. You got it? And then you go ahead and talk to me all you want. You good, sir? >> Yeah, I'm good. Are you good? >> I'm great. >> All right, good. They'll do. >> I have my information. I was the one that called you first. Do you need anything from me? >> Yes. Please wait. Thank you. Sir. >> You want me to tell her if you want me to hang? >> I got some guys coming. We're good. >> Okay. >> All right, hey. Stop. You have the right to remain silent. Reading your rights. >> Officers attempted to detain the man before he could make any move to escape again. Immediately after handcuffing him, they directly confronted him about the incident. >> All right. So, having those rights in mind, you want to tell me why you took that lady's purse? Be straight up, man. Don't play with me. >> I'm not playing, sir. >> I asked you a direct question. Answer it. >> I She got all her stuff out. >> Did you take her purse? Bro. You're going to want to stop playing. Sir. Did you take her purse? Answer my question. >> She got her >> I didn't ask you that. I said did you take her purse? >> Sir. >> This is a big question. Answer my question. >> No, I didn't >> How she get it back from you if you didn't take it? So, you lying to me right away. If that's how you want to play, that's fine. We're walking to my car. Let's go. >> Oh, oh, wait. >> Just walk like a normal. It's very easy. >> Okay, okay, yes, yes, yes. >> There we go. >> You're twisting my >> I'm not twisting. >> Sir, >> What? Here, face the car. >> Okay, you're twisting my arm. >> No, I'm not. Separate your feet. >> Sir, >> What are you trying to say? You're not answering questions. You're just saying, "Sir, she got her stuff back. Sir, she got her stuff back. Sir, she got her stuff back." Unless you want to answer my question. >> I'm just asking you to No. >> You don't get to ask questions right now. Get in the back of my car. >> Okay. >> Get in there. >> Sir, >> Do you feel like answering questions? Are you >> Sir, can you >> You want to answer or not? >> Can you please Can you please park the car? >> I don't care about your car. >> He completely avoided the officer's questions, deflecting with anything he could to avoid facing the theft accusation directly. Meanwhile, on the other side, the victim gave her account of what had happened. >> Um yeah, I just was loading my cart and I'm very mindful of my purse, locking and everything, and I put it away up above where I was. Started loading and he just literally came out of nowhere. >> Okay. >> Shoved me, grabbed my purse, ran. >> So, he pushed you and did that cause you any pain? >> Okay. No. >> Okay, and emotionally, how did you feel when you were pushed? >> I'll give this to her. >> Um >> Yeah. >> Just just pulled it. >> She's got my ID. I'm the one that got the got the purse. >> Okay, can I just take a look? >> He's the one that called the Yeah, I just want Anything you needed, I'll give you the verbal on my phone now. >> So, no problem. >> Okay, sir, can you please Can you Can you please listen to me? >> Yeah, I just lost my attention over at Costco. Okay, so if you guys need video, I can provide it for you guys. >> Okay, uh do you know where the victim is? Is this her? >> It's one of these. I'm not sure which one of them. >> Okay. Did anybody else witness it? Did you see it at all? >> No, I didn't see it. I just came out. >> Okay. Are you able to get access to the video right now? >> Yeah, I can go check it. Do you know what what part of the lot happened at? >> Um he came running from this end of the lot. I When I was coming up here, he came across and he was acting just off. Like panicked, kept looking over. Then I saw him run, so I started running. >> Uh where he He was the first to approach the other and got the purse back. And then I came up and that's when I figured out okay. >> Okay. >> He didn't act like he even had a pink purse. >> Okay. >> How did you feel emotionally when you were pushed and your stuff taken, your purse taken? >> Angry. >> Okay. >> And then at myself and him and then very frustrated cuz I realized what was in here. >> His actions were seen as having impacted the victim psychologically. Yet despite her firm account, the man still believed his stubborn denial would succeed. >> Please. >> No. >> Can you Please. >> to tell me what happened today? >> Officer, please. >> to tell me what happened >> I'm I'm literally begging you. >> Do you know what happened >> I only This is the This is the only car >> to know what happened today. I'm not worried about your car right now. >> Sir, please. I'm I'm literally >> me what happened today? >> I'm literally begging you. >> Okay. You don't want to tell me what Actually, go ahead and step out. >> Sir. >> Turn and face the car. >> Sir, I'm I'm begging you. I'm begging you. Why don't you stand still? Do you have anything on you? Why don't you stand still? >> No. >> Do you have anything on you that's going to poke me, cut me, or hurt me? >> No. >> Okay. >> But Please. >> So just so you know, you're under arrest, okay? >> Okay, but >> too. >> Please, sir. I'm I'm literally asking if you can call >> We can cross that bridge when we get there, okay? >> And then how much would you value your purse and all your belongings to cost all together? >> moment because I just have a lot of people to pay. I have 14, 1,500 in cash. >> Okay. >> And then, you know, maybe a maybe a couple of >> Okay. All right, I'll be right back, okay? >> Please, I'm I'm I'm literally begging I'm literally begging you. I'm I'm literally begging you. >> Okay. >> Please. >> I hear you begging me. >> Please. >> you we'll cross that bridge when we get there. >> They threw the keys in the car. >> Who threw what keys in what car? >> The The cop threw the keys in the car. >> Okay. >> But But please, can can you please call her? >> So she can pick up the car? >> Please. >> You go back there and search your girl in the car, do you want to? I got to go down and see. >> He showed no sign of remorse, and even when he realized his desperate pleas had failed, he appeared more concerned about his car than his situation. >> This is the only car she has. >> Okay. >> Please let her come and get it. I'm I'm literally begging you, please. That's the only car we have, and she needs to get to work, and we we don't even have the money to get out of the thing. Are you calling her? >> I will when I get there. I'm not calling her right now. I have to have other things I need to take care of first. >> Can Can you call her so that she get down here? She literally lives like 5 minutes away from here. She got her stuff back. Like they She got everything back. Like there's nothing that >> Only because you had nowhere to go and they surrounded you. >> No, I threw the stuff back. >> Goodness gracious, dude. >> I dropped it waiting for everything was like everybody was coming to >> Well, that was a little too late, so you're not getting the car back. All right, you can stop asking. >> She got her stuff back. >> So you think that's okay? You think that's fine? She got her stuff back, so it should all be okay now? >> I'm I'm already going to jail like >> So now you should I should do favors for you because she didn't get hurt and she got her stuff back. So I should do you a favor, is that what you're saying? >> Sir, I'm >> Is that what you're saying? >> I'm literally begging you, please. So why why can't I just get a a a ticket though? >> Because what you did is a felony crime. You tried to take someone's stuff away from them from her person. That's a felony. >> In the end, the man was charged with robbery and assault. Ignoring the severity of your actions and hiding behind denial will only make the consequences worse. Accountability is the only path that can prevent a bad situation from becoming irreversible. What do you think about cases like this? Next, the couple remained unaware that they had been exposed by the cameras. >> He was trying to shoplift. >> Yes. >> You're with him? >> Yes. >> And you talked to him a while back. >> Yes. >> Now I got to do about 2 3 years. Oh. >> On February 9th, 2025, police responded to a Walmart in Florida after reports of an active theft. A man in a blue shirt was seen trying to push a full cart of goods out of the store before being stopped. And a woman, believed to be his accomplice, managed to leave the scene unnoticed. A pursuit was immediately launched and this is what happened when officers approached the suspects. >> Roll down. Put your hands out the window. Hands out the window. Thank you. >> Back passenger window down. >> This is a Uber. >> All right. Back passenger, you just keep your hands up. >> This is a Uber. >> Back passenger. Thank you guys. >> What's a Uber? >> What are you guys doing? >> All right. >> What's your name, partner? >> My name Paul Watson III. >> Paul, step out of the car real quick. >> What's going on? >> We'll explain everything to you in a second. >> Go back to the back of the car. >> I got your phone for you. I got you. >> Go back to the back of the car. You got any things on you? >> No. >> What's going on, sir? >> We'll explain it. Just slow down a second. >> Yeah. >> We'll explain it to you. >> Yeah, I'm still here. >> All right, man. >> All right. >> You got a valid driver's license? >> No, I don't. >> You got any kind of ID or have Let me see some ID. >> You got a wallet or something in your pocket? >> Let me see some ID. This is my cousin's wallet. >> Is it? >> Yeah. >> No, then let me see it. >> All right. I got my whole turkey. >> After some back and forth, police obtained his ID. As they briefly brought up the incident, the man immediately showed a defeated attitude as if he already knew exactly what was about to happen. >> You got a wallet or something? >> Uh I just got a whatchamacallit for I got a child support. >> Okay. Okay. >> If it come up, I don't know if it come up or not. >> I don't know if it's local or not. It might not even extradite in this area. Where was it from? Like the area? >> Daytona. >> It might be specific to Volusia County. Sometimes they're specific to counties only. You know, especially if it's something so minor like that. >> Yeah. >> So listen, man. You have the right to remain silent. >> Anything you say Yeah, what happened at Walmart? >> Tell me what you can tell me. Um I didn't steal nothing. >> I didn't say you stole nothing, but I asked you where you're coming from. You said bananas. >> Hey brother. >> That's why we came up here. Just tell me what happened. >> Okay. I was coming I was coming I was in the store and I was shopping. Some ladies tried to stop me or whatever like that. And I told her I said I was getting ready to go over there and whatchamacallit, but I don't know what she had going on. So I just ran out the store. I didn't steal nothing. I didn't take nothing. Okay, well I didn't steal nothing. >> Of course he denied the theft since the attempted failed, but instead of admitting what happened, he shifted his story and tried to frame the situation in a different way. >> What happened? >> I heard no. I I waited for I I went I walked off I walked off cuz I didn't want to I don't know what's going on. >> I just want to I just want to clarify. What was it you were you were returning though? >> Man, I left my return to thing in there. I ain't even >> So what what were you returning? >> No, I had a card, right? I was going to return The way it go I didn't steal I didn't take nothing. >> Man, I'm not asking you you already told us like nine times you didn't take nothing. What what were you returning? >> trying to We're just trying to get everything straight. We need to hear the story. We're good. So, I just had a uh a a a like a six-pack of shirts I was going to try to return. >> And you just left them there? >> No, I had I didn't leave everything in there. Everything I was going to get I left. Cuz >> Well, where is the shirts you were returning? >> They're still in the store. >> You just left your property >> Yeah, I told them that it's a return. >> So, you walked in with the shirts in? >> No, what I'm saying I didn't I didn't leave out the store in there. >> No, I'm saying like you brought the shirts specifically to the store to exchange? >> Well, I was going to exchange >> Brother man. >> No, okay. All right. All right. >> This doesn't make any sense. >> cuz I'm mad upset I ain't do nothing. You know what I'm saying? I didn't take the stuff. In other words, I didn't I didn't take the stuff. >> I'm not worried about you taking the stuff. I'm worried about what you were returning and what what can we make some sense of that? >> Okay. >> Cuz you didn't walk in with the shirts you were trying to return. >> I just said return cuz I was nervous. But, I was returning them. But, I was taking my stuff. Hey. >> Of course, with such a contradictory story the officers could not believe him. At that point, they made their decision regarding the man. >> What I do, sir? >> I got to detain you for that warrant for for shoplifting. >> Oh, man. >> So, we're just going to we're just going to go with that right now? >> Yeah. >> I'm trying to move your watch a little bit. I'm not trying to get your watch, buddy. But, we're going to do that real quick. >> That's it? >> Yeah, cuz I have to detain you for that. >> I understand. I still got to get her name. >> Why? For what? >> Because right now I still got to figure out a ton of information from Walmart. Like because I don't want to be a >> Yeah, I don't I don't want Yeah, man. I don't want I don't want anything to happen to my lady. >> Okay. All right. Lay up right here. I'm going to I'm going to finish searching. >> All right. >> Lift your foot up on that. >> I got you. >> Thank you, bud. >> I ain't going nowhere, man. >> No, he's saying so you don't fall. >> Yeah, no, man. I don't know if you got poor balance or nothing. Just don't want you to fall. >> I ain't really got to So, I got to get my instant back then. >> No, we're we're going to see about that. I still haven't got it back yet, but I'm a doctor with a warrant. I want Yeah. >> But, I was honest with you, sir. >> Car hopping real quick, bud. >> I know. It's not necessarily that they're going to take it. >> No, not yet. Just talking to you. >> My wallet back though, sir. >> Yeah, I know what it is. >> I can't get in. >> Shortly after dealing with the man, officers approached the woman. It appeared that during the wait, she had prepared herself. Visibly anxious and unsettled as she tried to present her story to the police. >> All right, I need you to tell me what's going on cuz you know that doesn't make any Listen, >> You need to listen to what I'm saying right now. >> cuz I'm the one that's got to make sense of it. >> He don't like >> How am I supposed to believe you for something like >> I don't know, sir. >> Just tell me what happened. >> I don't know what happened. >> I wasn't with him. I didn't >> I know he's calling for a ride. Just say he called you for a ride. >> Yeah, he said come pick me up. >> Karen, come on now. I got to be able to make sense of that. >> And I'm turning around. I said I got to come back to the pay phone up. He said come pick me up or something. >> No. >> All right. Hey, do we get her >> What's all that yet? >> It's her. >> Are you sure in that purse you don't have an ID? >> No, I don't. >> What's your name? >> Tanya Bennett. >> To clarify, can you lean up No, you don't have to do that. Just like lean back on the car. You're good. Just to clarify cuz the first time I ran your name I didn't get anything. If there's anything that you missed cuz I know you said 19 and 69. Okay. Before I try this again, I'm giving you one chance. If there's anything you want to correct about this information right here, now's the time to tell me. Cuz if I find out it's not true later, >> So, what? >> help you. Oh, you spelled the name wrong. >> E T T? >> E T T. >> I I put that in there. I understand I put it in but the E ain't on here. Other than that, there's nothing wrong? The woman's dishonesty was eventually uncovered and she began to tell the truth about what happened. However, it was clear she was still withholding certain details. >> Now, you spelled the name wrong like somebody earlier. Now, I'm going to spell it right. >> I know. >> I know I should have told Um they got me on a very important thing, but we didn't know big-time drug dealer. I work with the Flying Dutchman. I'm a hundred percent sure. Yeah. And uh And she needs Yes, sir. >> And you know I got to make sense of this situation. And you know that >> I have plenty of coffee back there. >> All right. >> Yes, sir. >> He was trying to shop with me. >> Yes. >> You were with him? >> Yes. >> And you talked to him for a while? >> Yes. No, I didn't talk to him for a while. I talked to my separate ride, but he called me and said he needed a ride. >> So what was the plan? What were y'all going to do after with all that stuff? >> I don't know. I was just going to follow my other ride. I don't know what I I was following my own way. Yeah, I got a new work. >> Okay. >> Can I make a couple of calls? Excuse me. Please let me talk to the man, sir. Detective Lady. >> Where's your ID at? >> Sir. Who's I ain't >> Shortly after, both suspects were transported to the police station in the same vehicle where they spoke to each other expressing their regret over what had happened. >> I'm sorry, dude. Told you to don't piss them do that. today. Now I got to do about 2-3 years. Oh, with that no money to bond out. Why they trying to charge me with grand theft? >> Why? >> Cuz I took over $500 worth of stuff yesterday. >> That was over $500? They said it had to be over 700. >> Five. They just told me. You got failure, I got grand. >> They told you? >> I didn't try probably. I just got to get this court paper. All of our stuff at the motel. >> All of it? >> Who I'mma send to go get it? Papa saying. You send Pop to go get all our stuff. You don't understand why I couldn't have left with all that. I couldn't have left. I couldn't have left. I I couldn't have left it. >> The man faced shoplifting charges after the failed theft attempt, while the woman was also charged for providing false information and her involvement in the case. Attempting to deceive law enforcement and shifting responsibility only leads to stronger legal consequences instead of avoiding them. Next, this woman showed absolutely no sense of shame. >> Sing me break for something you never told me I had to do. >> Hey, you need to relax. >> When I asked you for what >> On February 6th, 2026, deputies received a call from a hair salon reporting a woman who used their services and left without paying. Deputies quickly located the suspect and this was what happened when they approached her. >> Stop. >> Camera. >> Hold on. You're not free to leave. What's going on? Did you just go to the salon? >> What are you talking about? I asked her on a specific day I'm going back to Jamaica today. She said okay, she could do it like that and then that was it. She never told me anything about paying or anything else. >> What's your name? Let's go with that. >> Why? >> Put the food down. Put the >> I'm hungry. >> Put it down then. >> You can't arrest me. >> You're not free to leave. This is an investigation, okay? So, I need to figure out what happened. >> I just told you what happened. She didn't tell me to pay for anything. I asked her I told her I was leaving today to go to Jamaica. >> Okay. >> And I told her that's what I was doing. And she said okay, I can come and do it, but she never said anything about paying. >> Come and do what? What did you get done? >> My braids. That was it. >> Oh, she did your braids? >> Yes. >> How long did that take? >> It take that. >> Okay. And so then you left? >> Yeah. >> Did she tell you that you needed to pay? >> She never said that at first. No, when you tell somebody you have to pay, you have to tell them that up front. You never told me that up front. >> No, but you wouldn't expect that you go to a business? >> You never She never told me that up front cuz I SAID BY CHANCE CAN YOU do it for me real quick, please? >> Got it. Okay. >> And she said okay. And that was it. >> She believes she did not have to pay for anything. And even more shamelessly, she showed no concern for the situation, choosing to eat instead. >> I'm trying to eat my food. >> All right, just relax. Do you have any weapons on you? What's your name? >> Chardonnay. >> Chardonnay what? Chardonnay what? >> I'm trying to eat here. >> I know. Chardonnay what though? What is it? >> Are you going to arrest me? >> No, no, no, no. I'm just putting on It's cold out here. Chardonnay. >> Yeah. >> Like h a r What you got to birth? >> Got to go. >> Right after she finished her meal, the deputies quickly took action. >> Just do me a favor. Turn that way. You're going to go to handcuffs right now, okay? Not in a restaurant you are going to be the same, okay? Give us your license. >> You are going to arrest me, right? >> Why not? >> I'm paralyzed. >> Paralyzed? >> Yes. >> So, how's that possible? >> You know what? Just get me to go get my stuff, please. >> If you don't mind, you just hold her for a second. Uh and she's right there. I want to go talk to her. >> Shortly after, the deputies approached the salon employee and it appeared from her account that there was no indication the suspect didn't have to pay, contradicting the suspect's claims. >> So, we were closed. I was closing up, but she came in all like, um "Can you do my hair? I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow, like please." And I'm like, "Okay." So, I thought like I'll be nice cuz she seemed like desperate or whatever, right? >> Are you involved? >> Oh, she's my boss. >> Okay. Sorry, I didn't know if you were just a worker. >> Oh, yeah. Um and so, I was like, "Okay, yeah." So, it took about like almost an hour and she nodded right out in the chair, but I didn't realize she was intoxicated until after she nodded out. And uh so, So, I'm braiding her hair. See my hands are all over standing or whatever. Color was in her hair. And uh and then And then I'm finished. She said, "Thank you so much." And then she walked to the front and I was like, "Are you paying by cash or by card?" And she said, "Huh?" I said, "Are you paying by cash or by card?" And she said, "Oh, I'll be back in 30 minutes." I said, "No, it's I We We don't do that here. We're closing and we you know, you have to pay for with your appointment." >> Right. >> And she said, "Oh, huh? Well, you never told me before that I'm going to have to pay. >> Okay. >> Why do I have to pay? And then I said, um "Well, I'm going to need you to like pay for this." and she's like well, I'm going and then she like dashes out the door. So I I left to just video her so I have like know who she is and then I was like I was like you can't just walk out. I'm going to have to call 911. What do you want to do? Whatever and then and and that was it and then I was just shaking so that's how I got >> All statements and evidence pointed to the suspect's shameless belief that she didn't have to pay. Even while sitting in the patrol car, she still insisted she wasn't going to jail. >> I'll break the window, all right? >> No, cuz I'm not supposed TO GO TO JAIL CUZ SHE NEVER TOLD ME NONE OF IT. >> I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE GOING to jail. I'm not saying you're going to jail. >> No, I just spent an hour with her. >> She'll definitely be trespassed. But I mean I can I can ask her about the money. But if she doesn't have it I can't enforce it. >> She's not going to have money anyway. >> It's up to you. That part's up to you. I would definitely have her trespassed that way if she's seen around the shop So in this right in this way in a trespass and I'm not convincing you either way. I really don't mind. It doesn't matter to me. I just I have to ask. But in the more manner of a trespass, case number is pulled for a report, full police report is conducted and then what we call a field interview report, we take a picture of her and then it's in our system that if you guys see her and if we I mean I know but like another shift comes by they don't know. If you guys see her and she literally just comes onto your property, that's all it takes. >> What's considered our property? Where is it located? >> Whatever the property I would assume probably like your shop. Not really the sidewalk but inside the shopping center and if you get a video of that or picture then she'll be arrested for that incident of trespassing. >> Only if she comes in the shop. >> That was what the store wanted for the woman. Yet she still failed to recognize her wrongdoing growing increasingly shameless with no sign of remorse. >> Please call for me again. Please call for me again. Why she never said nothing? So, am I going to jail? >> Oh, yes. So, just just listen to what this officer >> What the [ __ ] >> Just relax. >> How am I GOING TO JAIL FOR THIS? >> RELAX. >> I HAVE $8 in my pocket. I'M GIVING YOU $8. YOU'RE REALLY ARRESTING ME? GREAT. What the [ __ ] you never told ME I HAD TO DO? >> Let me get her a lawyer. >> YOU FOR WHAT? You know what? I don't need to ask. >> Oh, my bad. I didn't know that was full. >> Keep up my money in my in don't spend my money, please. >> Keep your hands out of your pockets. >> I really don't give a damn. >> I do. >> I'm not going to jail cuz I she never told me none of this. Please stop grabbing my jacket. That's a dead person's jacket. >> Can I Can I ask you something? >> No, you know I want to talk to you. >> Is ignorance a good uh defense in the law? It Does a bank have a sign that says you can't rob it? >> about? I did not do nothing wrong. I DID NOT DO NOTHING WRONG, SIR. >> OKAY. >> I asked her she could do something for me cuz I'M GOING TO JAMAICA AND I SAID THAT. >> MA'AM, I'M like a foot away from you. >> And she literally said, "Okay." She never told me I had to pay for anything. >> Ma'am, I'm a foot away from you. >> In the end, she paid the price for her own lesson and was charged with theft of service. Ignoring basic responsibility and pretending not to understand payment does not erase consequences. Your actions will always come back and denial only makes the outcome worse. Next, from a simple traffic stop, an unexpected discovery emerged. >> Step out. You're going to go in handcuffs. Do you want to go in handcuffs? >> But, we didn't do nothing. >> You know. And some stuff was was Jessica's. Was it I dropped her off. She went to Whole Foods. >> On August 26th, 2025, officers stopped a vehicle on the road after it failed to signal while turning. But when they approached the occupants inside, they noticed multiple suspicious signs. >> Hello. >> Uh-oh. What happened? Uh-oh. >> I thought I saw >> do you do? >> Good. >> Good. Do you have your driver's license on you? >> I do. >> Thank you. Hello, miss. >> What do you guys want? Because let me tell you something. >> Don't you dare yell at us. >> No. I'm not yelling, officer. >> Oh, that's just how you talk? >> Yeah. >> Okay, I got you. Here, can you Oh, you reaching for your purse, miss? >> Yeah. Yeah. Oh. >> Okay, I got you. Here, can you step out real quick? I don't know that I like that I can't see where you're reaching. I'm sorry. >> Oh, wait. >> Come on out real quick. >> going to do the same thing. >> Why? >> This is my driver's license. >> Okay, I need you to step out, okay, real quick. >> For what? >> Mavis? >> Yes. >> Yes, you. Okay, come on out real quick. >> Wait, what What is this about? >> What is this for, though? >> Cuz I'm asking you out real quick. >> What? >> Just don't hit me with the car door. >> Okay. >> Thank you. Come on back here real quick. >> Why? >> Come on back here. I want to talk to you. >> Oh. >> Is this you? >> Yes. >> Mavis? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> What's going on? >> No, nothing. He's just He's He's backing us up. He's a nice guy. So, okay, so you getting stopped for She didn't have her seat belt on. You missed signaling a couple times, okay? And then, so you guys You guys just distracted having a conversation. Congratulations. >> No, it's not. >> It's not It's bad news. >> Right. Right. >> Okay. Um is this a Was this a rental car? >> It is. >> Okay. Um is there You don't have to get it right now. Is there rental documents in the car and everything? >> I have documents. >> Okay, I got you. >> Regarding the traffic stop, everything seemed to be progressing smoothly toward a resolution. But it did not stop there. As her behavior at the moment she was pulled over raised suspicion from the officers. >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah. When we were pulling you over, we noticed that you were reaching around. What What you What were you just moving? >> Nothing. No, nothing. Sir, I don't have guns. I'm a pretty good woman on on most days. >> tell. >> I'm all right. I'm all right. And I respect the blue. >> Okay. Appreciate that, man. Appreciate that. I didn't think necessarily, you >> Oh, I thought you thought something was wrong. I'm like, wait a minute. >> Well, we got to make sure. Usually when we I only turn the lights on and I see a lot of movement, it does make us worry. So, that's where we're that's where we're So, let me have you for just one quick second. Let me have you come right over here, okay? >> Why do I have to sit outside? >> I will No, I'll talk to you in a sec. Why Why won't she get out? You got to stay back here. You guys step out here. Hey, thanks for backing us up. >> It was noticeable that she let out a sigh of relief when officers did not press further into the suspicion, yet she became guarded whenever they approached the vehicle. And even the female passenger grew increasingly agitated and suspicious. >> Come on. Get out of the >> No, no. >> Why? >> Cuz we told you. You're going to be under arrest. You ever been arrested before? >> No. >> Well, then get out of the car. >> So, what happened? >> Get out of the car. >> I need to turn off the car? Right? >> What? Step out of the vehicle. >> Get out of the car. I don't want to have to make you get out. No, step out. You're going to go in handcuffs. Do you want to go in handcuffs? >> Well, we didn't do anything. >> Step back. >> I explained it to her why I'm asking her out of the vehicle. >> When you were grabbing something when we stopped you and you were going to throw it in the back, I don't know what you're grabbing. By law, I am allowed to ask you >> Okay, so you put her in handcuffs. >> Yeah, she got >> Put her in Put her in handcuffs. You don't want to be in handcuffs. You come up even one step on us, you're going to jail. Do you understand? >> Yes. What? >> No, no, listen. >> BACK UP. BACK UP. BACK UP. BACK UP. STOP. STOP. >> Stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. Stop resisting. You don't listen for [ __ ] >> I get the phone? >> Okay. >> It's his phone. Is somebody there? >> Step out over here, ma'am. >> I'm going to put it in the car. You stay here cuz you You will listen, right? You're going to go stand back here? >> Yes. >> It was her resistance that ultimately led to her being temporarily placed in handcuffs, and perhaps the reason behind her deliberate obstruction became clearer once the vehicle search was carried out. >> Get out of the car. Wait, I want to talk to THE OFFICER, PLEASE. >> WHAT DSW STORE ARE YOU AT? >> RIGHT HERE. >> The one in Aprilville? >> Yeah. >> You just went on a shopping spree today, huh? >> No, we got ready for back to school shopping. >> Oh, okay. >> And I have the receipts. >> Okay. Transport you and take you in and you're going to be processed. >> Why? >> For obstructing. >> I didn't obstruct you. >> I asked you 17 times to get out of the car. >> Hey, he said he he said that he's going to process me for obstructing an officer. >> Yes, that's correct. >> It was clear that the sheer volume of merchandise in the vehicle of the two women was far from ordinary, and officers attempted to approach the more cooperative woman to understand the situation. >> I have to explain just exactly how you acquire all these goods and do these returns. >> No, it's not it's not being a return, okay? We had some stuff we were taking back to get some other stuff. I have receipts for everything. So, I mean, that ain't, you know, and some stuff was was Jessica's cuz I dropped her off. She went to Whole Foods. But, everything got receipts. >> So, what's the scam? >> What do you mean, what's the scam? >> This isn't a bug board, clearly. >> No, absolutely not. We did an exchange today and she some shoes and she exchanged and got something else. That's it. >> It's just a simple exchange. >> Yeah, I'd say. No, no, no. Well, there's receipts for stuff though. I got receipts. >> So, I'm going to ask you I would just stand on the sidewalk, but come on over here with me. So, which store did that TJ Maxx bag full of school supplies So, you didn't make that purchase? >> No. No, I didn't purchase it. >> Or return or whatever it was. Okay. What What business did you have at Dick's just now? >> Um well, she had a um >> Who is she? Okay. >> She had a backpack or something that she was trying to She was going to exchange and get something else. I ended up spending We spent Well, my sister spent $300 or something. I don't know what happened. It's just a simple exchange as far as I know. And then ended up spending more than what she wanted to spend. That was it. >> Okay. So, from what I understand, there was nothing was actually paid for in the long run out of pocket. It was There was returns made. You guys or whoever made the She made the transaction. They weren't You guys didn't actually >> No, no, no. See, yes. We We did purchase. We did purchase. She had a um >> She herself hesitated when telling her story and even when she did, it was far from clear. She then continued by giving statements that shifted all the blame onto the other woman. >> I think her baby daddy gave her that bag of stuff. It was some stuff that she had He had for Somebody had got I don't know for school. So, that's why she had that stuff. But yeah, we didn't but we didn't go to any office store today. >> Okay, she's going to be charged, okay? There is no ifs, ands, or buts about it. She's She obstructed and she didn't listen. That's not always the case. No, I That's correct, man. I'm chill. So, it's just it's not all looking good. So, everything that's in here I'm I'm taking. >> No, no, no. Wait a minute. >> Yes. >> No, wait a minute. >> Everything in here >> No. I didn't take everything. >> Just the receipts. Everything I'm taking the receipts as well. Everything I'm taking all the merchandise, I'm taking all the receipts. And and uh conducting additional investigation. >> Oh, come on. No, no. This is back to school. This is back to school. >> So, you were in Bolingbrook, you were in Naperville, you hit you've been all around. >> Shopping. >> Running Hills, been everywhere. >> Running Hills? >> Nine of Y. >> No. >> Last year. >> In reality, the officers understood the situation the moment the car door was opened. They gave the blonde woman a chance to come clean, but her response forced them to reach a conclusion. >> I was just cleaning up. >> I want to be honest with you, all right? You're going to go to jail. >> Why? >> For the backpack. >> Why No, let me I I got a receipt. I got a uh >> Not with that. >> On that bank charge, I have it. I have it on my >> I just confirmed it. >> No, on the bank statement, I can show you they charged Dick's Dick's Sporting. I can show you the receipt just now. They charged $157 and another $157. >> I'm being honest with you. So, you're going to go to jail. I don't want you to cause a scene like her. >> What am I going to jail for, though? >> I just told you. I didn't take the backpack, though. It's simple, it's a misdemeanor. You'll be on your way. >> Oh, but I didn't go I didn't go to I didn't >> And you and then you can dispute it at court and say, "No, that's all a big misunderstanding." >> totally That's not fair to me, though. >> I like you cuz you're kind. But you see the white hairs on my face. I shaved a couple days ago, so you might not see them as much. >> No, I see them I don't see them on your face. >> Yeah. But I just want you to know that like I said, you are going to go today. >> Why would I go, though? >> But I just told you. >> I didn't take anything from there. >> Let me be Let me be kind to you because you've been kind to me. Okay? But it's not looking good overall for what you all have doing. >> Right. But Right. >> right. You got me. >> Right. >> You got You understand what I'm saying. Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. >> No, she doesn't have anything to do with that backpack. I was dealing with that girl at that store. >> All right. So, I'm going to put you in handcuffs, okay? Are you going to kick and scream and and sh- and shout like her? >> I didn't take anything from there. >> Ma'am, I just told you I I I want to I want to continue to be nice to you. I don't want I want to help you. >> that. >> The woman's tone grew tense once again upon learning she would be arrested, but the outcome was already set, and it was disappointing that she still failed to recognize the wrongdoing of both of them. >> And as above board and as as as kind as I can to you, okay? But I just let you know, okay? Cuz I'm not just going to grab your hand like I had to grab hers. >> So, why am I going to jail for a backpack? >> I'm like speaking another language. It's English, right? >> backpack? She's explained it. >> It's English? Okay, I'm going to grab your arm, okay? And the other hand, please. Thank you very much. She I can assure you she was fine. I think she's just causing hysteria. >> I can't believe them. I didn't take anything from there. >> All right. Well, like I said, when you go to when you go to court, okay? >> Both women were charged with retail theft, with one additionally facing a charge of resisting arrest. Actions driven by dishonesty and resistance only made the situation worse, showing that taking responsibility early could have prevented far more serious consequences.
