They're somebody else's. >> Find out in today's video when shoplifterss think they could steal a full cart until cops arrived. Starting with this duo, police put an end to their successful theft spree. >> I just got on there. I paid FOR THIS, BUT THAT I DIDN'T touch it. >> I didn't did that, MA'AM. I SWEAR TO GOD, I DID, MAN. What I did wrong, sir. All I did return the thing. She said, they say return it. That's it. On the 29th of May 2024, police received a report of a large-scale theft at a Target where a woman had stolen merchandise and handed it to a man so he could fraudulently return the items for a refund. To stop the man from doing so, officers quickly approached him in the parking lot. >> Stay right there. >> Stay right there. >> Just hang tight. >> Just hang tight. >> Keep your hands where I can see them. >> What I do? >> I go for 1025. >> DID I DO ANYTHING? >> YEP. Okay, sir. >> Put your hands behind your back to cut your >> The man tried to claim that he was just helping his best friend buy something, but his explanation quickly raised more questions when he also brought up the return. Did you How are you Where were you going with that? What? >> Huh? >> Where were you going with that? >> To my to pay for my homie. >> Is there for your homie? >> Yeah, that was it. He was at He um in the car. >> Okay. So, he's in the car. >> Yeah. But I didn't do nothing wrong. I just paid for this cuz he had the cash. He gave me the car and that was it. >> Okay. So, he had the cash. How do you know him? >> No, he gave Huh? No, that's my homie. Best friend. >> What's his name? >> Cooper. >> My best friend. I know my best friend's last name like that. >> Yeah, that's my best friend Cooper. But I didn't do nothing wrong, sir. You know. >> Okay. Well, we'll work it out. >> That's all, man. >> Okay. Listen, they're going to talk to him. >> Yes, sir. >> No, I'm Yeah, I'm good. I didn't I just paid for that. >> That was it. You called? >> Hey, Brian, let him do it. >> Yeah. And that was it. And I just returned. That was it, sir. You know, >> that's why we're going to work it out. Okay. >> Thank you, man. >> No disrespect, you know. Just do what I tell you to do for my safety and your safety. I don't know you, you know. >> Yes, sir. >> So, that's all you all you got to do. Cooperation is the the you have you have a uh >> she said you just chill out. Let her let her do her thing. She's lost prevention. >> Yeah, man. I didn't tell you that was in the thing. She was talking about a white girl. I didn't know that was >> I didn't hear any white girl. >> Huh? >> I didn't hear her say anything about white girl. >> Whoever somebody I don't know nothing. I just went and returned the thing. I wasn't trying to steal. >> You been going to arrest me for it? Actually, do you have your ID? >> Yes, sir. >> Where is it at? >> In my back pocket, sir. >> You mind if I reach for get it for you? >> Yes, sir. >> I ain't going to stick me, poke me, or anything like that? >> No, sir. That's all. I don't steal, man. I get whatever [ __ ] they return. I already returned it. That was it. >> That's all. >> Are you on paper for anything? >> Yes. >> What are you on paper for? >> Um, I'm on probation. That's why I said I ain't trying to get in no trouble. >> All right. That's why I'm asking you. What are you on paper for? >> Um, it was um long 2019 ahead of the delivery charge. Um, >> Meanwhile, the store's loss prevention officer arrived at the scene and explained what had happened, including the woman involved in the scheme. So, she came in first. Um, she already we already have bulldo on her from other stores. She came in. I followed her around the store. She took a um infant swallow $39.99 and one more other thing and sealed it in our pets department. Then she came, got in the car with him. She gave it to him and then she returned it. He concealed the stuff that are in that bag right there. They conceal those. So, they're just traveling around the store. So, that was the reason why I called. We want both of them trespass and ID. Daddy is her driver in that vehicle. >> Yeah. Yeah. Trespass. Okay. So, she comes out with a car. Huh? She comes out with a baby swaddler and a little in the car cuz he didn't return. >> Okay. Yeah. So, she took it and he didn't return it on that merchandise. He paid for this. He didn't return. Yeah. She stole it and then he stole that. You were sitting on that when you rolled out. You were sitting on that. >> That's all. >> Are you on paper for this? >> Yes. >> What are you on paper for? >> Um I'm on probation. That's why I said I ain't trying to get in no trouble. >> All right. That's what I'm asking. What are you on paper? >> Um it was um long 2019. I had a delivery card and um >> returning to the suspect's vehicle. There was another man in the driver's seat besides the female suspect. It seemed that none of them felt any remorse for what had happened. >> Why your pants pulled up? Why your pants pulled up? I'm trying to show you. >> No. Why are your pants all the way down? >> I can't. >> You don't even have your pants covering your butt. >> How you going to sit in your car like that though? >> Huh? >> Don't move. Just keep your hands up. >> You need rescue. >> That doesn't look comfortable. >> I've been dealing with itis. >> I don't know what that means. >> What they got? She She just stealing. >> It's not what she said. I didn't steal anything. >> I I left I left my cart the stuff that was in my cart. >> You thought about it. You just didn't say I left stuff because my phone was dead and I didn't have my tap and >> pay whatever she what it is. Where you live at? >> Western. >> How do [snorts] you know the other guy? >> That's my friend. Boss man, you got registration for this car? >> Yes. >> Where's it at? >> You want to go? You ain't got no weapons in this car? >> Yeah. No. >> Go ahead. Go ahead. Read for it. >> I'm going to take her. >> Just try to ID him with a picture. >> Okay. Even if you got to take a picture right there. >> For what? >> Shoplifting. >> I didn't I didn't steal anything. Otherwise, >> no, I didn't. I didn't steal anything. I left my card in there. I didn't take anything. I did not see anything. >> All right, let me figure it out then. Were you out here today at any point in time? Were you here today besides today? >> I know I didn't take it. I left my own car cuz my my phone is dead. >> The woman seemed to be the most panicked when confronted by police and [music] under pressure, she began admitting to certain things. >> Sir, I didn't do nothing wrong, man. What I did wrong, sir. I didn't return the thing. She said they say return it. That's it. What did I do wrong, sir? >> Tell your defense attorney that, man. >> Huh? >> Tell your defense attorney. >> What did I do wrong? >> Oh, man. I didn't do nothing wrong. I will return. Can I speed the lieutenant, sir? >> No. No. Right now, man. >> It appeared that the woman had been instructed by the first man arrested to steal merchandise and pass it to him so he could take it out of the store. Meanwhile, the driver was cleared of suspicion and asked to get out of the vehicle. >> Yeah, I got it. I got it. >> I'm ask you again. You sure you don't need medical? >> No, ma'am. No, ma'am. We tell everybody in the vehicle we already >> right there. >> Care for you, man. >> You know what I'm saying? >> I don't have people around to crack on. >> I ain't nobody cracking, dude. I'm I'm I'm concerned about your wellbeing, dog. >> I'll be around the same people. >> Yeah. I'm not even I'm not even cracking on you. It's more concerned for your own one and health, dude. You know what I'm saying? Get Get if you if you're able to get some help, get some, dude. And if anything, I'll probably give you some some resources or something, dude. You know, cuz listen, man, we all make mistakes. >> Listen, we all make mistakes, dude. We all hang around the wrong people, dude. But that don't mean that you're not a good person. You know what I'm saying? >> I'll get you. >> I don't want to be in the sun. >> I'll get you. You want to come over here? >> Who you stay with? >> My mom. >> Where was that at? >> For a lot of >> this her car. Yours? It's It's hers, but it's mine. It's >> like she let you drop it, it's under her name. >> If she die or something, she get >> I got you. So, you stay with her? >> Yes. >> How long you been staying there with her? >> My mom my whole life. >> How you know these people? >> She met her through my own mobile. >> Okay. >> That's my dog right there. >> Who? The girl or the guy? >> The guy. >> The guy. >> All right. I'm going to be real with you. I guess they got y all over the county, my man. >> Me? >> I don't know about you, but y'all they get they got them. See, you know what type of friends you got though, right? >> Yeah, but she she she she don't go in there and steal. She got money all the credit for >> my mama just >> How long you know her for? >> Like >> the man and woman faced potential shoplifting and organized retail theft charges along with allegations of fraudulent merchandise returns. The driver was cleared of suspicion and was not implicated in the scheme. Dishonesty and getting involved in a theft scheme can turn a seemingly simple store visit into a criminal investigation. Following someone else's instructions does not excuse illegal actions and cooperating with the wrong people can lead to serious consequences. So what consequences would this woman face after skipping work to steal just for the thrill of it? >> I would pay for it if I had to or you know whatever. I just >> I I don't know if that's how I was feeling. Like I said I it wasn't like I came here and plann >> on the 22nd of December 2025. It seemed like an ordinary day at Target until a woman walked into the store and began concealing items in her bag without any intention of paying. Store employees stopped her, which was why an officer was called to the scene shortly afterward. >> Hello. Hello. >> Hi. >> Hey, how are you? >> What's going on? >> Um, so today we have Miss Terra. Um, she came in. She selected clothing, beauty items, um, and some food items. Concealed some of them into her personal bag. Um, and then the others into the white and Target bags right there. She went to selfch checkout and I paid for three boxes of popsicles and then passed off went to sale without paying for $2 and $19 worth of items. >> Okay. Any particular reason as to why? >> No. No. No. I don't really do I don't have any. It's not really normal for me. I >> Okay. >> I I don't know. I guess some just going through a lot and just >> I don't know. Maybe I did it to see if I could. I I don't It wasn't like I came in here planning like I'm going to go in. I It wasn't wasn't nothing like I I planned on doing. >> Okay. >> And like like I said, I mean, you can see my record. I don't have a record of like shoplifting. I just don't have I >> never been arrested before. >> No. Nope. Nope. Never been arrested ever. >> He said I wasn't going to get arrested and I hope I don't. >> No. No. I didn't say that. I just said I cannot arrest you. >> Oh, you know I just you know it's not something I can't I you know I told I would pay for it if I had to or you know whatever. I just you know >> Well, that ship has kind of sailed considering that you know >> I apologize. >> That ship has sailed. You can't pay for it now. Yeah, >> you had the opportunity to. >> Yes, I did. Yes, I did. >> The woman tried to show remorse and claimed this was her first mistake, making it seem like an unwanted accident, but the store had a different story, causing her explanation to quickly fall apart. >> So, just so you know, this this was not like a first time occurrence at our store. Um, you've you've hit our store quite a couple times in the last month, and today was just the first day that you got caught. Okay, >> Tara, do me a favor. Can you stand up for me, please? >> Is there anything on you that's going to poke me or stick me? >> No. >> No. No weapons on you whatsoever? >> No. >> Okay. Can you just face the wall for me, please? I'm just going to do a quick search. Okay. We're not going to do anything crazy. I'm going to use the back of my hands. I just want to make sure you don't have any weapons. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Go ahead and have a seat. Okay. >> Okay. All right. >> Are you going to arrest me? >> So, that's what's going to happen. Yes. >> Okay. It's It's kind of a zero tolerance here in the village. It's not my >> Yeah. >> It's not my >> thing. But get arrested. >> Okay. >> Where's my job? >> I know. But do me a favor. Stand up again. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Can I just put my stuff in my purse? Sure. All my stuff. What I'm going to do is I'm going to have the stuff that you paid for. I'm going to have it returned to you on your card because it can't go with you to the jail. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> So, I don't I'm not going to let you lose money. >> I have to contact some people like my job and >> Okay. Are you supposed to go back to work? >> Yeah. >> Were you on your lunch break? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> The woman was reportedly using her lunch break to commit the crime. Even the car she arrived in was reportedly borrowed from someone else as she appeared to be trying to distance herself from the incident. >> Will I be able to contact the guy that I have his rental car and let him know it's sitting over here? Then I'll be like it'll be like I stole it and I can't have like rid we'll we'll we'll figure that out. We'll figure that out. Like I said, I just can't leave you by yourself. So before I do anything crazy, I got to get my partner over here. >> Okay. and then I'll be able to contact like the people I have to >> we'll get we'll get through all that. But I'm going to make sure you get your money back for that at least because he can't go with you. So >> Okay. >> All right. >> Yes. >> Where's your car now? >> It's in the parking lot. It's all right. So I have to let the guy know that it's here. I have his key. >> I have his key. Maybe I could put the key inside the car before we go. I don't know. >> Whose car? Where's the car key? It's in Oh, it's in my purse. >> It's in your purse? >> Yeah, it's right there. Right. Right there. >> Right here. >> Maybe I can put it in the guy's car to get like >> Whose car is this? >> It's a a rental. It's I rented it to Turo and then I got to contact him and say, "Hey, you know, something happened and the car is sitting at Target." And then he can pick it up. So, >> you work at Toyota? >> Yeah. >> You report this to them to Toyota? >> I don't tell Toyota anything. >> Okay. But are you on break? >> Yeah. >> So, you have to go back to Toyota, don't you? >> Yeah. So, you might need to call somebody. >> Yeah. I'll have to That's what I'm saying. Can I like, you know, that's my house key. Could you please take the house key off? >> This one? >> Yeah. You can just take that one off and then we could stick that in the car. And then I get this car and say, "Hey, then otherwise it'll be like I stole it and I can't have no grand." >> When are you supposed to return the car? >> Today at 4. >> I had to park it at my job at Toyota. Well, >> continuing the investigation, the loss prevention employee reviewed the footage and clearly explained each of her actions. The more they looked into it, the clearer it became that she had intentionally come there to steal. >> Three boxes of popsicles um where she came up to selfch checkout. Uh she rented a payment for those three boxes of popsicles, but nothing else that was concealed. >> After the transaction, she then went around talking. >> After the transaction, she then went around um selfch checkout where she selected cookies. um and a drink and then conceal it into the white Target bags that she now had. Um and then she finally passed all points of sale without rendering payment for any of the concealed items. And that's when myself and Annette stopped her. >> Okay, beautiful. >> Um and you might just raise your right hand and everything you told me you swear to truth. Nothing but truth. Everything was accurate. True. >> I'll do the I'll do the request for request. Um I should be good on that. Um, and my glasses in there are prescription glasses that I I need. So I mark it all down. >> They won't get thrown away. Okay. >> Yeah, he's too cute. You want to send it to that email? >> Sure. >> You prefer that one? >> So you guys found the car or you didn't find the car? >> No, I I found the car. Oh, I found it. >> Can you put the keys inside of it? >> I can't do that. >> No. >> No, I can't do that. We're going have to I know. We're going have to get in touch with them. We're going to work on all that. Right. As time went on, the pressure on the woman continued to build, and she eventually admitted that she had intended to steal. It was hard to believe such a clear admission would come from a grown woman. You >> a lot. >> Yeah. >> I'm sorry you're going through a lot, but what is what exactly does that >> like? I mean, me, you know, just my brain sometimes, you know, like I'm on anxiety medicine and stuff like that. And >> do you feel like wanting to hurt yourself or commit suicide or anything like that? >> Oh, no. >> Uh-uh. Maybe it was just, you know, >> let's see if I can get away with. Yeah, I don't know. >> Oh, something that you want to see if you can get away with and and see how far you can go with it. Is that what you say? >> I I I don't know if that's how I was feeling. Like I said, I it wasn't like I came here planned. I came here really to get the outside bars. >> Okay. >> And then as you select the other items, I mean I mean obviously there was no intent to pay. Is that correct? >> No, there was no in my purse obviously. No. Yeah. >> Obviously, no. Okay. >> You know, but >> All right. >> Like I said, >> listen, we all make mistakes. I understand. But you just you got to >> you just got to be mindful of what you're doing. Okay. >> Yes. >> So, this is the receipt for the returned items. Okay. That why you got your money back for that for that stuff right there? >> Okay. >> All right. You want to add anything else to the whole >> Like I said, I've never been arrested because it's just not it's not normal for me to just I don't know. Yeah, >> she was charged with pettit theft and could face legal consequences for the decision to steal during her lunch break while also being banned from returning to the target property. Trying to make a theft look like a mistake becomes much harder when the evidence clearly shows otherwise once the truth comes out admitting the intent does not erase the consequences of the decision. So, what will be the outcome for this woman accused of gift card fraud? >> We have gift cards here. More gift cards. More gift cards. This is all from the glove box. >> Why am I arrested? Because I purchased gift card. >> Because the cards >> On the 21st of February 2025 at a shopping mall, a Chinese woman bought four gift cards from Sephora, claiming they were for a friend. But she then visited Foot Locker, Lululemon, and GameStop, repeatedly buying gift cards in the same way, which raised the officer's suspicion. She soon left in a black BMW, prompting officers to stop the car and investigate further. >> What happened? >> One second. >> Do you have your ID? >> Yeah. >> Hold on your window. >> Okay. All right. Set the phone down. Just stay off the phone. Uh, >> you have a driver's license? >> Yeah. Can I have driver's license? >> Can I use my phone? I have a picture. >> Picture of her driver's license. She wants to use her phone. Okay. Pull a picture of your driver's license. >> One moment. >> You can ask him. Just wait. >> Ask him. >> That officer, that detective, you can ask him. Just wait. >> What's your uh what's your >> She just keeps asking why. >> Speak English. >> Yeah. >> Ma'am, what's your name? >> Uh um English name is >> All right. Step out of the car and come talk to me real quick over here on the sidewalk. >> All right. Come outside. >> Yeah, I'm out. >> Come over here. Hey sir, what's your room? >> Okay, leave your leave your phone there and come out and talk to my real quick. >> Okay, is there is there anything in the car that I need to know about? >> No, you can take >> I can look. >> Yeah, you got everything you can do. >> Any guns? >> No. >> Any drugs? >> No, >> nothing. >> No. >> Okay. All right. Just so just step right here. Uh stay with my partner and I'll be right back. Okay. After asking everyone to step out of the car, officers began the search and it seemed they were about to get their answer about her actions. >> Uh we got uh consent from both the driver and the passenger to search the car. And this is going to be related to the gift card fraud from the um from the mall. I have a receipt here from Washington, Utah for a $500 gift card. Lulu lemon bag appears to be trash passenger seat. Uh in the gift cards here. More gift cards. More gift cards. This is all from the glove box. More gift cards. Hey, is it all right if I just attain them in my unit? >> Come here. >> And we'll find out about him. >> Do you have anything in your pocket? >> No. >> Okay. Stand right here. Let me check. Okay. You're going to sit and wait right here. Okay. >> Easier. He was out with you. >> So, we went we went to do followup and I went to talk to uh talk to Sephora and we're talking and the chick like gets this weird look on her face. She like, "Yeah, I'll be right back." She came back over. She's like, "Hey, the girl that's up there right now is our suspect from our previous one." Like, "Oh, okay." So, I went I went to get the car and uh stayed inside and follow her around while she hit four or five more stores >> buying gift cards. >> Yeah. >> With fraudulent or >> tap tap to pay the >> but somebody else's transaction cards. >> Yep. >> A large number of gift cards from different stores even across different states were found in the car. Clearly, these purchases were not as straightforward as she claimed, and more bank cards of unclear origin were also discovered. Uh, a couple different bank cards. Okay, there are two $50 Apple cards, a Panda card, and a Target card. And all these were taken from the mesh pocket in the rear of the driver's seat. This is a Target receipt from Fresno, California on December 10th. And this was underneath the driver's seat. You can throw that in there as well. And we're moving to the driver's door. There are two phones here and an earpod. And there's another phone propped up like in the navigation area. >> Okay. So, these are the two phones. $5 billion car. $25 gift card. Again, this is all the driver's door pocket. Okay. This entire bag will keep uh steady. There's Foot Locker receipts in here. Lululemon receipts. And there are >> receipts, but only like one gift card in there. Did she get searched? Real good. But she have any cards on her? You sure? Okay. >> Can they be traveling? >> Yes. Yes, they do. >> So, you see all this Lululemon stuff? Well, let me show you what's really concerning. >> Look at this. Wow, look at all those gift those gift cards. Oh no, these are >> actual lemon. Actual lemon. >> There's no Lulu though. Where's Lulu at? >> Yeah, >> there's a gift card on this one for 95 >> a purchase or they used the gift card. >> According to the Lululemon transactions, the woman had purchased four $200 gift cards using six different payment cards. So the question was, was the male passenger involved in any way? >> Is that all you need from the car? You need anything else you want? >> Y. >> Where are you going to go? >> Me? >> Yes. >> Uh, I'm going to go Danver >> right now. Right now. Where? >> I don't know. I just with her. >> She's going to jail. >> Jail? >> Um, >> and we're we're towing the car. >> Okay. >> So, if you want anything out of it, that's yours. You can get it. >> No, no, no, no. >> Okay. So, you just need that and backpack. >> Yeah. And then where are you going to go? >> I don't know. She said she can because I have no car. She said she can um put me to airplane or hotel because I want back to >> Do you have anybody to call? Do you have money for hotel? >> Uh yeah, I have money. >> So do you want me to bring you to hotel >> or do you want to get a Uber? Whatever you want. But we're taking the car and she go to jail. >> My plan is we uh we're going to Denver and I will buy a plane ticket and I go back to home. >> Yeah. One week. >> Why? Why not buy plane ticket from Salt Lake City? >> Because this is expensive. >> Oh, it's more expensive from Salt Lake City. >> Yeah. And I plan to Denver to sky. >> How you get to Denver? the car with her. That's it. >> So, right now, where do you want to go right now? >> Right now, let me see. >> Go ahead. >> 3 days later, the woman was interviewed by a detective at the police station. You might think her time in jail had given her a chance to reflect, but she still acted confused and innocent even though she knew exactly what she was doing. I I don't understand the question because you were buying gift cards at least from Vegas all the way to Utah. >> Why am I arrested? Because I purchased gift card. because the cards, the credit cards that you were using to buy the gift cards are not yours. They're somebody else's. >> Um, I want to know where's my male friend, the one with me. >> He was he was released in on the street and I don't know where he went. He called somebody for a ride, but her car was towed and then he was let go. Okay. Why is he released and I am not? >> Because she was buying the gift cards and I could not prove that he was. >> Okay. That's so funny. So I I want to >> you think he should be in jail with you? >> I don't know. Okay. We are traveling together. I don't understand why am I kept in here and we are doing the same thing but he was released. >> Yeah. We just together travel in the city. >> Okay. >> So I don't know why. >> Okay. Did he go in the stores with you to buy the gift cards? >> Uhhuh. >> Um I don't know. >> Was he with her when she was in the stores buying gift cards? I won't answer on this question. Um, I want to know because my friends in China want me to buy gift card for them. What kind of scene is that? What crime did I commit? >> Okay, explain to me how explain to me how she's buying gift cards for her friend in China. >> In the end, Lou was charged with 20 counts, including moneyaundering, unlawful acquisition, and use of financial transaction cards and pattern of unlawful activity. This case shows how repeated fraudulent actions can quickly turn a seemingly simple purchase into a much more serious investigation. Claiming innocence does not erase the evidence when receipts, surveillance footage, and financial records tell a different story. Now, let's see what happened next to this employee suspected of stealing someone else's AirPods. >> Let this happen to me. >> What happened? >> Stop. Go to the ground. >> Airpod that they're looking for. Just go buy a new AirPod. Like what the >> on the 9th of October 2026, an officer received a call from a victim reporting a missing AirPod. The tracking location led to a Goodwill store where a female employee became a suspect and her attitude only added to the suspicion. >> So, I'm going to tell you right now, she just wants it back. >> I don't have the AirPod. >> She's telling me it got tracked to you like three different times. >> I don't have a AirPod. >> Is there any chance it could have been in your purse? No, I don't have an AirPod. >> Do you have your ID on you? >> No. >> No. Hold on. Hey, >> I will literally leave. >> You are not. No, you are not free to leave right now. Come here. >> I don't have it. >> I'm not telling you right now. You're harassing me. >> I am absolutely not. Stop. You're not free to go. You're going to be put in handcuffs if you keep running away from me. No. Right now, you're >> right now you're detained. Cuz I'm detaining you. >> How? Because investment I don't have AirPod. >> You're accusing me of having a someone's AirPod I don't even have. >> Can I have your ID, please? >> What the >> Can I have your ID? >> It's in the back of my locker and I'm not grabbing it for you. >> No, >> you are detained. You're not >> How am I detained? >> The question is if she had done nothing wrong, why was she acting so evasively? Was there something she wanted to hide? She was even willing to escalate the situation further. >> What the >> Stop. I don't have it. >> Stop. >> I don't have it. >> High five. Send me another. >> How are you gonna let this happen to me? >> I don't have it. >> Stop or you're gonna go to the ground. >> I don't have it. >> Give me your hands. >> Yeah. After this, I'm quitting. It's too hard. >> Give me your hands. >> What the is happening, bro? I don't have the AirPod. >> Stop. Give me your hands. >> Can you call my mom? >> No. Stop. Give me your hand. >> Have the AirPod. >> Stop. This is so petty, bro. You're going to break my >> No, I'm not. Stop fighting me. >> Stop fighting me. >> This is so petty around. Stop fighting. >> What the What the hell is happening right now? >> Give me your hands. >> What the >> Give me your hands. >> What the >> Give me your hands. >> What the You have my hands. What the >> dude? I feel so violated. >> Give me your hands. Stop resisting. >> YOU HAVE YOU HAVE MY HANDS. OKAY. Oh my god. The sun. Oh my god. What the is happening? >> What the is on the ground? >> Destiny, calm down. >> Calm down. >> Calm down. >> CALM DOWN. >> I DO NOTHING FOR YOU. >> STOP. >> Calm down. >> Destiny. Just calm down. Your whole body is off. >> Fortunately, the officer quickly moved the chaos outside to avoid disturbing other customers, but the female employee didn't seem to care. Instead, she kept acting as if she were the victim in this situation. >> Can I use the phone to call my mom? >> Not right now. >> Why? >> Come on, I got her. >> What the >> I don't even know what is happening. >> Okay, go face right here. >> What the I'm just searching arrest. Okay, go ahead and widen out your stance, ma'am. Wide out your stance. Wider, please. Wider, please. You need to stand right. Thank you. Back of my hand here. Okay. >> What the is this even for? >> I don't know the initial thing, but right now you're under arrest for resisting or for obstructing. Okay. >> What the almonds? >> Yes. >> Don't worry about it. It's not yours. >> He's asking if it's almonds. I don't even know. >> I don't give a >> Don't step on me. Don't step on me. Hey, I'm sorry. [laughter] >> Well, stop joking with you. That's fine. >> Why are you accusing me of stealing an AirPod? I don't even >> Yes, you are. >> I don't even know. >> You them. >> Please stop moving. I got >> Because I don't have somebody's AirPod that they're looking for. Just go buy a new AirPod. Like, what the >> I don't have anything on. >> Telling the victim to just buy a new one. Clearly, since it wasn't her property, the woman didn't care at all. Even worse, she only seemed concerned about her own belongings once she was arrested. >> Cuz you're a police officer, dumb ass. >> Uh, actually, hang on one second. I'm getting real quick. >> I'm getting arrested on my >> am I supposed to being working real quick. >> Can someone grab my phone and put it in my locker? >> Grab your phone here. Go ahead and put your feet in. >> Okay. Someone >> Do you want your phone to go to your locker instead of with you? >> No, I need my phone. >> Okay. You You just said something about the locker. Do you want the phone to go with you to jail or do you want it to stay here somewhere? >> Why am I going to jail? >> At least for obstructing at this point fighting with officers. >> What the >> If there something to talk about, you would have had the opportunity to talk about it, but then you decided to fight instead, right? because she arrived at my job >> while I'm working accusing me this morning of having her her AirPod that I don't >> to go with you to jail >> or do you stay at a locker you mentioned >> can it bring can I bring it with me? >> Sure. >> Do you have anything else from inside that you need us to have the boss bring out to us or anything? >> I need my lunch box. I need my purse. >> So lunch box we can't bring because we can't bring food. But you got a purse in there somewhere. working. What the is going on? >> You said you got a purse somewhere. >> Yes, it's in my locker. >> Okay. Is there someone in there that knows where your locker is or how to get >> fine? I'll just leave it there. Where's my badge? >> Your badge? I'll go see. Uh, I pulled it off right here. >> This badge. >> I'm going to need that. >> Okay. >> But the biggest question remained. The missing AirPods had yet to be found. Officers continued checking the tracking signal, but would it really lead them to the suspect, or was there more to this case than they initially thought? >> Can you ping them again for me? >> Can you ping them again? >> Oh, yeah. Uh, let me get my phone. >> Did you get air? >> Huh? >> Did you get the things back? >> No, but uh she wants a purse and stuff on the back. >> We need to play it right now. >> Yeah, they might be. Are they still tracking right here? >> Yep. >> So, they might be in her purse. They're going to get a [snorts] >> They haven't moved since she got here. >> Yeah. >> Are you going to Miranda her and see if she wants to give them up or >> I haven't yet. I'm going talk to her. >> Yeah, >> um she can ping it once it comes over here and just play it now. So, we'll just do that. Um the security guard and the other chick went back there to grab her stuff. Where's her stuff at? >> In the locker. They have to open her locker. >> Oh, the security has to open it. >> No, the other manager. their system. >> I have the key in their safe. >> Okay. >> Open it. Check it. >> No, I haven't. Just got it from box 13. >> Box 13. >> Are they still in here somewhere? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. [snorts] >> Hey, can you ping it? >> It's trying to connect. With no sign of the stolen AirPods, the investigation seemed to hit a dead end. The suspect then explained what had happened that morning, trying to prove her innocence. >> I got picked up by my friend that comes here to work, too. And we got here at like 7:23 and we literally just sat in the car for literally not even a minute and this the lady comes pulls up on us. I'm excuse me, do you guys have the AirPod? And we're like, huh? What AirPod? Mhm. >> Just genuinely asking like, "What do you mean?" And I was confused because I never had someone ask me for an AirPod before. >> Yeah. >> And she's like, "Oh, I'm sorry. What do you mean?" My friend in the car said that. And the lady who walked up to the car said, "Oh, I'm looking for my AirPod." And it brought me to you guys. And my friend was like, "Oh, I'm sorry. We don't have it. We just got here. We're about to walk in." Asking for the AirPod. And we could have sworn that we didn't have it cuz we didn't even get out the car at the time, >> right? And then she just kept asking and then she looked cuz this morning I'm pretty sure you guys were up there with the RV person. >> Mhm. And I'm think I'm tracking now cuz someone came over to me and mentioned an AirPod. Yeah. >> Yeah. And um so we were like oh god hopefully that doesn't turn into a big thing. And then me and the person that I was with were like dude she's looking for an AirPod and attracted us to us. It's it's weird. Even the person who um a person who works at the donations, his name is Rayon and his AirPods were even getting tracked and they were ringing in his mom cuz he was just in the parking lot. His mom's carpods just uh she said it was pinging when you got here. >> Yeah, it was pinging in the back of the store when I talked to her before we got here. >> I didn't go in time to see if like an employee like mess with her, one of our friends cuz one of the other ladies that knows her was back there. >> Mhm. So, I was trying to get back there before, but it looked like they just opened it when I got there. >> He'll be wrong. They could have opened it and turned it off. >> So, you don't have any any AirPods with you. Yours, hers, or otherwise? >> I don't. You can even check my purse, but I don't I don't I I swear to >> Who did you say had AirPods ringing? >> Um, his name is Rayon. >> Rayon? >> Yeah. He's He's a taller black dude that wears glasses. In the end, the woman was charged with one misdemeanor count of obstructing a law enforcement officer. The AirPods were never recovered during the investigation. Refusing to cooperate may turn a simple encounter into a much bigger problem, especially when someone resists lawful detention. Staying calm and allowing the investigation to proceed can prevent unnecessary escalation and additional charges. Strangely enough, these two suspects even went shoplifting in a vehicle [music] that was especially easy to identify. >> We got up under here. We're on the phone with box of what? Crystal. >> I'm not saying it's stolen, but I'm saying someone did call. >> On the 19th of May 2025, a Home Depot welcomed two men who appeared to be customers, but neither came there to shop. Instead, they walked out with a toolbox without paying. More notably, the vehicle they drove away in stood out, making it easy for officers to track them down shortly after. >> Yo, turn it off. Drop the keys out. Drop the keys on the ground. Where's the fob? Where's the fob at? >> Why didn't you stop when I turn my lights on? >> What you got up under here? >> Box of what? Crystal. >> Did you just steal it from Home Depot? >> No. >> You got any ID on you? >> I don't. >> Do you have a driver's license? >> No, I just bend it. >> All right. Go ahead and step out then. >> You got to take your seatelt off. >> Keep your hands up high, too. Hands behind your back. >> I know he did. Hands behind your back. I'm going have one attain for now. The reason I stopped you when you came out of the uh Home Depot parking lot, you got to come to a complete stop before you turn onto the road. You know what I'm talking about. Step up here in front of my He shook his head. >> Both men were taken into custody and later admitted what had happened earlier. >> Okay. So, you want to go ahead and tell me you stole something from Home Depot? Am I going to have to go through everything? >> Okay. What' you steal? >> Roto, >> huh? >> Rotozip. >> It's like a little cutter, isn't it? or something. Okay. Hey, we're walking towards the road over here. >> Yeah, I'm sorry. I got to get >> I'm sure you do. So, right here, >> both of you guys, my partner ran his dog around the vehicle. The dog did alert. Okay. Based off that, we're going to search the vehicle. Okay. >> What? >> Illegal narcotics. >> Okay. Oh, I know. I saw it sitting there when they were inside. >> Who's is this? This is mighty nice. >> Who's your friend? Does he know you got it? >> You sure? How does he know? >> So, how does he know you got it? >> So, his wife let you use it. >> So, when I call him, they're going to say that >> the vehicle was then searched and several things immediately raised the officer's suspicions. >> I like this bag. But when I found out he was with him when he was stealing [ __ ] he's sitting in here and I see this big huge bulge in his pants. He just stole that from uh Home Depot. 95% of the time I don't eat it. >> That's probably probably used for the polar pops, too. >> I don't have a a gun or a vest on. >> Check the trunk. >> No, there's a There you go. >> Oh, it goes forward >> like an angle. >> Yeah, this is a >> It's a No, it's four. Four. >> Pretty sure you can count 1 2 3. >> Meanwhile, an officer approached the other suspect. Unlike the first suspect, he was far less willing to admit what had happened. >> You saw me following you around the parking lot. Why did you still go in there and steal [ __ ] >> For what? >> Gas in yours. >> Somebody called us this morning saying it was stolen. I'm not saying it's stolen, but I'm saying someone did call. It's a friend of uh whatever. Uh it wasn't his wife. Yeah. Now, we're not saying it's stolen. I'm just >> Yeah. Yeah. How does that thing even start? >> Push push the start into the key code. >> Oh, there's a code. Okay. Yeah, that's why you were saying there's no no key, nothing. I was like, there got to be something. >> Yeah, there's a key. >> Okay. All right. You got nothing crazy hidden on you, right? All right. I got a camera back here that records everything you do. So, don't be doing anything wild. Let me fix this. Give me a little bit. We'll get this figured out and I'll come back here. I got to I got to see what Home Depot wants to do first. Okay. They don't want to do anything. Then we'll probably just trespass you and obviously give them their property back. Okay. That was the only thing you sold was just that. Okay. Did he do anything? Okay. >> Okay. >> At this point, the case quickly took a turn when officers found their names in the system, giving them more information about the suspects. uh his name. They entered the store that time. They walked straight out that time. Okay. >> 67 valued that their store number on their paperwork also. >> Uh and he is in the system on Axon Records, his name file, which has his email and all that. >> Oh, okay. Gotcha. I figured he would be >> The other guy, the old man has three aisles over there. He just kind of stood there like this. And as he was finishing, he walked off this way. They joined and both walked right out together. He knew what they were doing. >> Oh, I know. Uh so he went over there. He finally got She was I guess ignoring my phone calls and texts. He finally got her to answer the door. Uh as soon as he answered the door, she was like uh she asked what it was about and he said this and she said um she wouldn't talk to him without her lawyer present. So, she start making a few phone calls and for whatever reason he stuck around being nice, I guess. And finally, uh, she was like, I'm not answering any questions, but he's allowed to have it. Like, okay, we're going to impound it. >> All right. Come on around here for me. All right. Watch your head. Step up in there. No touching the camera. All right. Scoot all the way in the corner over there. All right. We'll be out of here in a while. >> Pulling to the back of the van over here. I'm going to put leg shackles on. Then your cuffs are going in the front and have a seat right on the end right here. Right here, buddy. Go down here. I got to check your shoes real quick. >> The 46-year-old driver was charged with petty theft after taking a Ryobi toolbox valued at $39.97. Trying to deny involvement does not make the evidence disappear, especially when officers can verify what happened through surveillance and other evidence. When the facts catch up with you, avoiding the truth can only make the situation worse. But things would get even worse for this shameless woman. >> You just stuck in your waistband right there. >> I had stuff happening in my waistband. I'm just going through my wallet. >> Handcuff her. >> Stop. >> Put your hands behind your back now. >> Put your hands behind your back. On the 28th of December 2024, what seemed like an ordinary day at Walmart took a turn when loss prevention noticed a suspicious woman concealing merchandise in her pants and purse. That was also why officers were called to the scene, leading to a conversation about what was happening. >> Uh, we got her on camera just like a bag. >> Hey, >> I feel like I recognize her. I think she used to be somebody I know. >> Mhm. So, >> is it that lady with her poo? >> The orange thing. >> Yeah. With the jacket on. >> So, you don't want to go and make her empty your pockets and leave? >> Uh, no. So, we call y'all when they conceal stuff like that just in case they make a move for weapons or anything like that. But right now, he's keeping a good eye on it on there. Just kind of have you hang out until she leaves just to make sure everything's okay on her end. >> Mhm. >> And we're not putting ourselves in harm's way. So you don't want to get her just on concealment. >> Maybe try to get her walking out as she does with the merchandise. We got her on camera. She was in the that purse aisle right there behind her. The more we get on her, the more we can have an incentive to never look back. >> Okay. >> What I was telling him that she's got a knife. Really one of the bigger reasons we called. >> We usually don't care. >> After waiting 30 minutes for the woman to appear, she still hadn't shown up. So loss prevention took further steps to gather more evidence. >> I just don't want to see any come to look out. >> The employee tried to record her through the gaps between the shelves, further confirming her actions and allowing them to approach her more quickly. Hey. >> Hi. >> How you doing? >> Good. How are you? >> What's up? You just stuff in your waistband right there. >> I ain't got nothing in my waistband. I'm just going through my wallet. >> I just watched some stuff in your waist. >> No, I did not. >> Yes, I did. >> No, you did not. >> I'm going to walk back here to the AP office. >> Okay, >> let me grab you first there. >> This is [ __ ] All my stuff is right here. So tell me how I did that. >> We'll go back to the AP office. Talk to >> I need to go back to the AP office. >> Take a left right here. I'm going to the back. Ma'am. >> Ma'am, I'm not doing anything wrong. >> I'm going to put you in cuff cuz you have clothes. I'm not doing anything wrong. >> You can go back here and you walk back there in C. >> She desperately tried to avoid the officers, clearly attempting to evade the investigation. This behavior could lead to an obstruction charge under Florida statute section 843.02. And soon after, chaos would unfold. >> Go, go get her. Put your hands behind your back. Handcuff her. >> Stop. >> Put your hands behind your back now. >> Put your hands behind your back. Be still. >> Be still. >> Be still. >> Did you hear me? I said be still. Please stop. >> Hey, you're fixing to go on the ground if you don't put your hands behind your back. >> Please stop. >> Handcuff her. >> Please stop, y'all. >> Okay, that's it. >> Please stop. >> Go down to the ground. [clears throat] >> Put your hands behind your back now. Put your hand behind your back >> now. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. >> [snorts] >> brain. >> Set her up. [clears throat] [sighs] >> That could have been much easier. You need to walk back to the API. I grab that off. >> Given what she had done, she should have been ashamed in front of everyone, but she wasn't. Instead, she continued acting as if she were completely innocent. >> So, we have body camera and everything and getting all this Walmart merchandise off of her. [laughter and gasps] >> Please don't do this. >> Please. I hadn't even left the store. was putting everything back. >> Good, good story. >> Didn't you see me? >> Good story. >> Didn't you see me? Did you not see me putting it all back? >> Come on, stand up here in front of the car. >> I have not left the store. I was putting everything back where it went. What's this other bag? >> Huh? The wag [snorts] [clears throat] here. >> Did you follow me and watch me put all the stuff back? >> What do you think they've been doing for almost an hour? >> Put all the stuff back >> for an hour. Close to it. >> Is that a belt? What is it? >> They've been watching you conceal items for about an hour. >> And he watched me put it back before I left the store. You can you can try that in court all you want to >> anything sir. I was >> You're under arrest. Do you understand that? >> That's what I was doing. I haven't left this putting it back. >> Okay. Yeah. I stick stuff down in my pants and then I put it back too. >> Come look and see the stuff I put back. >> Come on. >> Come look and see. >> Why would I lie about it? >> What's this? >> Huh? >> It's a baby doll outfit. Oh, I told you. Watch you >> put stuff. >> I was trying to put it all back where it went. >> Lucky you didn't get tased. Do you understand that, too? >> More merchandise was found on her, making her explanation even harder to believe. But more importantly, she also had a prior record. >> I never want to go back. >> You stay turn. >> That's why I was putting everything back. Anything in your pocket? >> All kinds of stuff sticking out there. >> What's that? >> That fell out of her while y'all were >> listen. Let me explain something to you. What's your name? >> Shannon. >> Shannon. Okay. [clears throat] You ever heard of crossing the guard line >> at the sheriff's office? Okay. So, after we're done here, if you still have anything on you and you don't tell us about it, that's a felony >> when we get to the jail. >> I can't feel anything. >> Okay. We're going to go through everything good, but I just want you to know if you got anything stuffed anywhere else >> and then you don't tell us, you go inside the booking area and then they do a disrobe search on you, then it becomes a felony >> instead of a misdemeanor. Okay. >> You've got two months left on misdemeanor probation. Not anymore. >> We uh we started watching her uh through the the accessories aisle and she started to then went down the start [clears throat] was the belt and in her back and then she started to just load stuff inside that white bag. I didn't see the bag. >> Okay. >> We had cameras, [cough] [clears throat] >> right? >> I wasn't doing it. I was walking around putting it all back. You can you can save your breath. Okay. >> You can see it on camera, >> please. Can Can you save your breath? [clears throat] >> Do you have a vehicle here in the parking lot, Shannon? >> Yeah. I ask him if I can tow my son. He just lives right down [clears throat] until he >> That'll be up to them as far as they tow your car or or what? [clears throat] >> You can you can get to use the phone when after you've been booked in. You're not using the phone before you go to jail. >> Will you call in, please? My I've got it running and my dog's here. I'm keeping it for my daughter. She's in the hospital. >> If you would have cooperated possibly, >> please >> you scuffle from us. You resist arrest. >> Trying to do the right thing. I didn't think it was I doing anything wrong until you left this store and I was trying to walk around and put it all back. >> Okay. It have took you an hour to put all this stuff back up. >> Well, you seen me walk around and put it back, [clears throat] didn't you? >> Shannon was charged with shoplifting and obstruction of a police officer. She later pleaded guilty to the shoplifting charge and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by 5 years and 9 months of probation. Her actions show how quickly a shoplifting incident can become much more serious when someone chooses to resist instead of cooperating. What could have ended with a simple ban from the store ultimately resulted in jail time and years of probation. What do you think about cases like this? YOU'RE GOING TO GET SHOT NOW. WE'RE GOING TO GET SHOT. WE'RE GOING TO GET SHOT. Police officers quickly surrounded the vehicle, leaving the suspects with no chance to escape. In fact, there was more than one person inside the car, and the passengers also attempted to flee, creating a scene of complete chaos. >> We got a passenger trying to jump over the fence. >> GET ON THE GROUND. PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR BACK. UNDER ARREST. Coming out of the VEHICLE BACK WHINING, I CAN PULL UP. >> WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? RIGHT HERE. >> Everybody have any joints on >> anytime, guys. Great job. >> I can't fit in there. Don't yell at me. Right. >> No, I'm saying sorry. I can't fit in there. When you first pulled up though, I couldn't fit in there. Then you pulled up. That gives me a little room. I can try. THIS IS OUR GUY. >> This is Gates. >> You got him. >> Hey, that's that's Gates. >> Gates was identified as the suspect responsible for stealing the vehicle. Meanwhile, one of the passengers tried to deny any involvement in the incident despite having just failed in his attempt to flee from the police. >> Give me a minute. Let me get everything out of here. >> You guys just did me. >> You're in a stolen car. Okay. You guys are trying to run. >> You're about to get ripped out of the car. >> You heard me, right? >> I don't care right now. Kick your foot in here. I will talk to you in about 5 seconds. Should I stay with him in case he gets worse? >> I'm okay. Shortly afterward, the suspects were taken to the police station for separate interviews. The passenger was questioned first and he remained completely calm as he continued to insist on his innocence. >> All right. What can you tell me about the car? >> Absolutely nothing. I knew a lie. I wish I knew what sto. >> Do you use or have you used alcohol? >> Yes. >> Okay. What do you do? I don't feel like cigarettes at all. >> When's the last time that you used any hardcore like so long? >> It's been within the last 24 hours. >> What did you take? >> Everything. >> Have you ever been treated for alcohol or abuse? >> Yes. when I was in prison between 2015 16 17. >> Who do you know in the car? >> Tyler not very well. That's why I had the remote in my pocket." >> Mhm. So he was like, "Uh, you you trying to uh" He asked me what I was doing today. I said, "Nothing much. Just hanging out in the house." He said, "Uh, you want to step out the house?" I said, "Sure. Where we going?" He said, "Uh, just to a friend. I have I think some marijuana. I don't even want to lie to you." And that's where we went. >> It soon became clear that the case also involved illegal drug possession. The driver's condition only raised more suspicion as his behavior suggested he might have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the arrest. Um, who are those guys with you? >> Buddies of mine. >> Buddies of yours. Where do you live right now? >> I'm homeless. >> Homeless? >> Yes. >> Um, I saw on your ID that you had a brier brier. >> Yeah, I used to live there. >> Okay. I actually just thinking like cuz he never had vehicles. I'm thinking in my head, it's a nice vehicle for someone that never had a vehicle for no one's mother. >> So, but it's not really cool to say, "Oh, where you get this car?" to a grown. I don't know if you know that perspective, little point of view, but it's like kind of a little little little disrespectful to be like, "Wait, where you get this car from? How you get the money to another grown black man?" He probably see it as like, you know, he don't think I can do things for myself or something like that. You know what I mean? >> You had a friend that had a uh silver 2010 Kiaforte. I know that her mom's name is Gina. uh she got uh you and your friend were up in Westerville and she got arrested on a warrant out of a traffic stop thing. >> In addition, the officers confronted them about the driver's previous attempts to flee from the police. It was clear that this was not the first time he had done so. The passenger also gave a statement that indirectly shed light on the driver's state of mind at that time. >> Did any when we pulled up and started blocking the car, what were you telling him? >> Stop. Just chill. Hold on. Stop. Chill. Like he's like, "No, fuck." I'm like at that point I'm think that's why I was trying to I was just praying to God that you guys don't kill me when I got out the car. >> But I had no other choice. It's either he run into some and we all die or get seriously hurt. >> Yeah. >> Or it's just I just tried my luck. >> And and Tyler was just telling you no. >> Yeah. He was just no. >> You really you just linked up with Tyler so that you guys can chill for a little bit. Smoke some >> little bit. Mostly >> smoke some weed in there. >> That's it. Head back home. >> What do you want to talk? Do you want to talk to me about anything? >> What do you want to talk about? We know that's all your clothes stuffed in the back. We know that you were supposed to meet up with the staff today to have a move out. We know that you've been on a little bit of a bender and stealing a lot of cars and running from the police a lot. Why do you do it? You've done it three times now in a week. You still hanging out with your crib friends? Was that only when you were in jail? >> But I don't gang bang. I'm >> You hang out with duffel bag and >> I don't know. >> He's listed as an alias of yours in prison. >> I don't do that. >> You're just kind of cripping to stay alive in jail kind of thing. The whole blue devil thing is not that heavy. >> I mean cripping was a I mean it started off as just you know love for my brothers in my neighborhood. I didn't have my family wasn't my mom got married and uh so I didn't really feel love at home and I just fell in love in the neighborhood from for my for my homies. I just I mean that's just Have you seen any similar anything similar to this where somebody and something like this happened and >> all the time man you do some dumb seen any success stories? >> Quite a few >> years later >> takes time. The suspect was charged with failure to comply with the order of a police officer, receiving stolen property, and possession of a schedule one or two controlled substance. Repeatedly fleeing police and surrounding yourself with crime only leads to more serious consequences. Taking responsibility and breaking destructive habits is the only path toward a better future. >> You got ID on you? >> I don't. >> Babe, I love you. >> You can go. >> You can go. long ways in the way. >> Well, there's good chance it is. >> On the 3rd of August, 2023, officers received a report from a Safeway store that a woman suspected of shoplifting had returned. When they arrived, the store's loss prevention staff shared additional suspicions about her. >> Today, no. So, what's your >> um So, I definitely want her on trespassing. >> Okay. >> Um Sorry. Um, and I have like the camera parts pulled up from yesterday, too. >> Okay. >> And it's a massive cart. It's $800 plus. >> Okay. >> And then on the 23rd, >> did she just walk out with item? >> Yeah. No, she just went out. >> Uh, yesterday with that like that one that Yeah, she just went out. >> Um, and then on the 23rd, I called you guys. She she didn't steal anything that day, but she was she was going to and I scanned it all out. It was like 7:35. She left it over there. Um the officer came in said, which I understand, like there's nothing really about that. Um but that's what I'm saying. Like I know she's going to steal, so I asked the trespass. I don't that's her. As soon as the woman was spotted, officers quickly approached her. However, the moment they closed in, she immediately walked away as if trying to disappear. Hey, ma'am. Let me talk to you for a second. So yesterday, sounds like you walked out with quite a bit of cart of groceries. >> I did. >> Yeah. No. No. >> No. >> The man accompanying her immediately walked away as soon as officers approached the woman, [music] seemingly realizing what was about to happen. Even after she was detained, she repeatedly tried to talk to him, but he had no intention of coming back. >> Well, right now, you're going to be detained until I figure it out. >> Dude, I love you. I love you. >> At a minimum, you're getting trespassed from the store. >> That's fine. That's fine. >> And then if you're on video stealing, you better not lie to me. You understand? >> You better not lie to me. >> I might be. >> You might be lying to me. >> We have the female detent. >> Got warrants. >> I might. I don't know. >> You got ID on you? >> I don't. >> Babe, I love you. >> You can go. You can go. I love you so much. >> The woman was then taken to the loss prevention office where officers reviewed the surveillance footage of the previous day's shoplifting incident. >> That's I don't know if there's anything about that was the other night. >> Okay, that's fatty card. That's the one from that night. >> Okay, >> I don't know if that's whatever, but that's yesterday. So, you want to pursue charges for that? She's got a whole bunch of she's >> You do. >> So, it is 8 to 2023. What do you do? Do you have what time she entered the store? >> Oh, enter. >> And then you're looking at potential charges from yesterday as long as it sounds like the video lines up. Um, I don't know the exact dollar amount whether that's going to be a misdemeanor or felony. It sounds like you had a cart full of stuff. So, the cut off for the felony is 750 bucks. Sounds like what you had in that cart is pretty close. So, we'll see. Either way, it's going to be a a new charge and then you're going to get booked on your your warrants tonight. I mean, >> I'm going to get another charge though >> potentially. Yeah. Or yesterday. >> You might want to have a talk with your getaway driver and have him not park in a [ __ ] handicap spot. >> Yeah. Stage four. Like >> so I am going to jail. >> Oh yeah. Yeah. For the for the warrants at a minimum. I mean we can't we can't walk away from a felony organized retal warrant. >> So she came out for like checking her getaway. >> So that's a 609 enters. >> She's going to grab her cart. She's looking over here the entire time. >> Is her cart already full? Yeah. >> Okay. So, she's already shopped. So, >> yeah, >> she enters the store at some point, grabs a cart. >> She's just kind of trying to make sure that no one over here. >> The registers are on the other side. She's clearly looking around. >> I can see it. >> Clearly, she was still wearing the same clothes, making it nearly impossible to deny what she had done. But she didn't seem ashamed at all. And when officers asked why, she bluntly replied, >> "Okay, you want to talk to me about what happened yesterday? Let's go. I'm broke. You don't have anything. >> You're broke. Don't have anything. Where do you live? >> Um off of six six. >> Six in Spokane. >> Okay. Six. Isn't that down by the grocery aisle? >> Yes. >> Do you stay in the shelter or just Is that where you stay? >> No, that's where I live. Yeah. >> You live there? Okay. And then so why are you coming out to Cheni to steal? >> We were out at the lake. >> Which lake? >> Silver. >> Silver Lake. >> And then Well, I mean, you stole yesterday. You stole $800 worth of stuff. It looked like a >> pretty full cart. That's what they're gueststimating. You see the cost of anything? >> $800. >> Well, there's a good chance it is. Right now, without without a receipt, I'm going to charge you with that third. >> Yeah. >> A misdemeanor charge. It's going to be a misdemeanor cuz I can't substantiate the the full felony. But you're on camera [music] walking out without paying with a cart full of stuff, >> right? Do you refute that at all? >> What do you mean? >> Are you disagreeing with that yesterday? What happened? Was that pretty much what happened? You came in, loaded up a cart, and left? >> Um, no. >> That's not what happened yesterday? >> I don't know. >> You didn't come in here and steal yesterday? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? Okay. All right. >> Even as the officer explained the charges she could be facing, her concern didn't seem to be the consequences of her actions. >> All right. Well, they want to they want to pursue charges, so I'm going to refer that to the prosecutor for that. And you're going to get booked on your warrants, too. >> So, what other charges am I getting? >> The third arrest. >> So, you are in arrest. >> Okay. Is there any way I can get a drink water? >> Uh, nope. I think the jail will have to take care of that. Okay. Now, were your cuffs bothering you to the point where you need a chain chain cuffs instead? >> It's kind of >> The woman was charged with shoplifting and trespassed from the store. Shoplifting may seem like an easy solution in the moment, but it often leads to arrest, criminal charges, and lasting consequences. A single poor decision can create problems that last far longer than the temporary benefit. Are you okay getting my shoe? >> I'm not an angel. I do wrong. And yes, I stole, but I stole for a good reason. It's not like I was just stealing. >> On the 1st of May, 2026, officers were dispatched to a Walmart parking lot after receiving a report that a woman had loaded multiple unpaid items into her vehicle. Even more concerning, her young son was caught in the middle of the situation. First, here's what happened when officers arrived at the scene. Can you call back the complainant and find out what items were not paid for? >> I just want to go home and I'm not take my son. Sit back and put your seat belt back on. What are you doing? We're way beyond. I'll take it back. >> No, no, no, no. We're way beyond that. Stop. Go up to my car. No, sir. I cannot >> go to my car. >> I cannot >> get out of the car. >> She believed that returning the stolen merchandise would erase the crime she had already committed. Fearing she might flee, officers attempted to pull her out of the vehicle. But her resistance quickly turned the situation into chaos. >> Okay. >> Go to the ground. >> STOP. >> STOP. >> STOP. STOP RIGHT THERE. >> STOP IT. >> STOP. PLEASE. >> YOU ARE DOING THIS. NO. NO. >> I'M ASKING you to let me call my mom. >> Stop. >> I'M ASKING YOU PLEASE. ROLLING. >> ROLL. Sit up. >> Sit up. >> Okay. >> I I can't. You can't. >> Stand up. >> No. We are way beyond that. Stand up. >> I have to call my mom. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Clearly, her behavior was not something she should have displayed in front of her family. She seemed to care only about herself. At this point, she even began portraying herself as the victim. >> Oh, [screaming] my arm. OH, MY ARM. OH, PLEASE LET GO THAT. LET go that arm. Let go that arm. Oh, we got no let go of my arm. The message way. No, we go way past that. >> Hey, I cooperated. I >> No, you did not. >> I did. I finally I said fine. She showed little concern for her family member and even started using the situation to make herself appear pitiful in hopes of avoiding arrest. >> The reason I have to steal is because I don't have any money. I don't have anybody to help me. Yes, my mom is there, but she won't help me. >> I I literally live off of tiff. I have no money. I have to provide for my son. I lost everything. I won't go back to Walmart. >> All right. >> I'll I'll be I promise I'll I'll do better. Just please don't arrest me. >> I I understand. >> I just want to go home. >> Listen to me. Okay. I heard you out, right? >> Okay. >> In the end, she was taken to jail and face charges of retail theft, [music] obstructing justice, resisting arrest, and contributing to the delinquency of a child. People can face far more serious consequences when they refuse to take responsibility for their actions. The incident showed that not every police call ends with an arrest. [music] When someone's behavior appears to stem from a mental health or substance related crisis, getting them medical help can take priority over criminal prosecution.
