[Music] being on the motorcycle is it's a lot different than you know being just a general patrol officer you're a lot more exposed to the environment so um you're hearing things you're seeing things you're seeing a lot more around around you on the motorcycle sometimes you can even smell things uh just being exposed being outside in the elements being a police officer in a car and on a motorcycle is very different you're focused on obviously the machine that you're operating and it takes a lot of a lot of coordination you're operating a clutch uh your your throttle your brakes uh while also being a police officer so that almost has to become second nature [Music] my first exposure on a motorcycle was uh was going through motor school I was lucky enough to have the opportunity you spend uh almost an entire month during motor school and it's just so much repetition so much driving we have awesome instructors um that just they they really do teach you how to be safe how to maneuver the motorcycle and second of all how to how to be a police officer on a [Music] motorcycle everything we do is is based on the roadways and based on vehicles uh based on pedestrians collisions all of those things um and then the other big one is DUI enforcement obviously we all know we have a problem with uh with impaired driving um all over the state whether it's alcohol or [Music] drugs I love this unit I I plan on staying here my entire career I don't plan on going anywhere else I I really like it here Tim Lefever I work for the mes Police Department Traffic Unit I'm a vehicular crimes Detective [Music]
