to our Mesa community. Whether it's a holiday message or a change within the department or things that we're doing, I've always wanted to and have have put all the effort into making sure that you stay informed. Um, the community in in the city of Mesa, I have to tell you, I think it's one of the best communities in the entire country. We are blessed to have the support of you and you deserve to hear news really before anybody else does and you definitely deserve to hear it, you know, from the source. So, I've made the very personal decision um to retire from law enforcement after 32 years of dedicated service. I'm very passionate about this career. I have been from the very beginning. I love being a police officer. I love being a leader in this community and this organization. Working in the community and partnering with the community has has been the blessing of my career. Long before you start taking these steps up the chain of command to different ranks as a young officer, connecting with our community out on the street, working with our folks, working with our youth, uh making those connections are memories that I'll cherish for the rest of my life. And I've I've really taken protecting this community very very seriously throughout my whole career. And as I end my career, it's been providing the resources and taking this progressive, incredible department to a level above each year, each day. Working with the team, working with the command staff, executive staff, you know, our first line supervisors, our professional staff that a lot of people forget are the backbone of our department to provide the level of service that we do. That makes the city of Mesa the second safest city in America, our size. So take that in for a minute. We are the second safest city for an agency or a community RSIs. It is incredible. That is not by accident. That is because of the support from you. Whether it's the public safety sales tax, whether it's the bonds that you support, you guys give us the ability to make sure that people are held accountable for committing the crimes that they do and that we're there to protect you. Are we perfect? No, we're not perfect. There's always improvement that we need to do. and we built a culture of continuous improvement and I'm proud of that. Um, usually the question comes up, is there something wrong? Is there what's going on with the chief? You know, I planned on doing eight years at the chief. I've been a chief for 5 and a half years. It's been incredible. There is nothing wrong. There's nothing wrong with me. My health is good. My family is good. Um, our department is thriving. It's strong. Everything is good. We have incredible succession with leadership in our department. everything is going how you would expect with your taxpayers uh dollars and who you would expect to be your police officer when you call 911 or you need help or you just come across an officer. Everything is going good. We are constantly improving but there is no controversy. So, I just wanted to send this message to you. I'm eternally grateful to work for a community like ours. Um, I truly care about our community and I care about you and I wanted you to hear this from me in a short message. So, thank you. God bless and take care.
