in this video I will be discussing common methods for successfully completing the solid and chain-link fences on our po pack course the solid fence has traditionally provided the biggest challenge for applicants let's start there please notice the participant must start with both feet on the cement pad once told to go the applicant will run to the fence climb over in the most efficient way possible and then run 25 yards to the finish let's watch what we have found to be the most efficient way notice the participant jumped high onto the wall while using his hands to push his upper body above the top of the fence he then steps or rolls over the fence to complete the austell let's look at another method this participant jumps high onto the wall and uses her elbow to Chickenwing the top of the fence while supporting her bodyweight the participant brings her leg up and uses her foot to grasp the top of the fence and pull her body over the obstacle a third method requires a more control approach to the fence the participant grasps the top of the fence and swings a leg up he then uses his foot to grasp the top of the fence and pull the rest of his body over the obstacle a fourth method also requires more controlled approach the participant grassed the top of the fence and then walks up the front of the fence he posts a foot on top of the fence and pulls the rest of his body over the obstacle any variation of these methods is acceptable please note that you cannot use the sides or support bars of the fence to assist you in your climb the chain-link fence has traditionally been a more manageable obstacle for most participants notice the participants use the crossbar in the middle of the fence to plant their initial foot they are then able to step up and climb over or roll over the top of the obstacle when climbing down or jumping down from the fences please control your descent to reduce the likelihood of injuries land with soft knees whenever possible finish each event with a good sprint do not slow up until you're past the finish line we have three additional events that are required as part of the Pope at testing the first event is a dummy drag you will be required to pull a 165-pound dummy 32 feet the next event is a 99-yard obstacle course the final event will be a 500 yard run I hope this video has been helpful please check our website for future practice sessions
