to you. I did just see a lot of girls running that way, but I don't have them. >> have a colorful bonnet on and Amazon Prime jacket? >> No. >> So, they're saying that uh that you've stolen some stuff from them. All right, now where are you going? He's running. >> If you were a shoplifter pushing out a full cart of unpaid items, hiding merchandise in a bag, then trying to run, or even doing worse when facing police like this. >> Why are you following [screaming] me? >> Get out of the car right now. >> Why is he Why is he following me? >> What are you going to do? >> Oh my god, you did that to me? >> [screaming] >> Oh my god, you did that to me? >> Surely, someone was going straight to jail. These are the times when police unexpectedly stop shoplifters stealing full carts. We are This is law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Starting with a woman trying to save her dignity after being caught shoplifting. >> Right here, I'm paying for it. Everything. Yeah, I'm going to pay for it. >> Okay. >> You said you put it in your purse and you were going to purchase it, so obviously you weren't going to purchase it anyway in the beginning. >> On the 17th of September, 2025, police were dispatched to a Dollar General store after receiving reports of a woman allegedly shoplifting there. When officers approached, she repeatedly displayed suspiciously defensive behavior. >> What's I need to know what's >> in your purse. >> I don't see anything in that purse. That's Yeah. >> What's up? >> I was going to I'm going to pay for it. I have to. >> But you're putting the items in your purse, which is your personal purse. >> It's not my personal purse. >> sound Okay, well, it doesn't look like you're going to pay for it if you're tucking it away in a purse you can't see. >> No, I am going to pay for it. We got the stuff right there. I have it in there. But I was Her stuff is separate from mine. >> So, why are we putting items in a purse so they have stuff like carts to put items in. You guys already have carts. >> Yes, sir. I'm going to pay for it. I got my card. Yeah. It's right here. It's right here. I'm paying for it. Everything. Yeah, I'm going to pay for it. Yes, sir. I just don't want to put my stuff stuff >> The items pulled from the purse proved the theft had been real and she only intended to pay after police caught her. Officers knew that, too, and they had already made their decision about it. All right, can we just go through to make sure that there's nothing in the store? She's willing to give you an opportunity to pay for it and leave and not come back. That way you don't go to jail and there's no other issues. Is that fair? >> Yes. All these are I have the purse. That's not my purse. But this is what I'm paying for. I just don't want my stuff stuff you said it I want my stuff separated. That's it. >> You were going to pay for it and you filled out the security tag? >> No, those are already off. No, it's not camera. All all these all all these all >> Regardless >> this one because that one was already off. >> So, regardless at this point we did get the call about it. So, if you're good with it we're just going to make sure you don't have anything else that belongs to the store. She's going to afford you an opportunity to pay for it before you leave. And then they're probably just going to not want you to come back, okay? Is that fair? I feel like that's pretty fair. >> Yeah. No, I was going to pay for it. >> Is that everything that you saw on camera that she took? They're going to let you They're going to let you go with it. >> Yeah. >> Or if you just wanted to not pay for it and leave it all here and be trespassed. It's totally up to you. This is the manager here. >> That's me. >> Yep, that's what I'm saying. It's It's up to you. If you want to give her the opportunity Police then gave her a chance to pay and leave, but the story took another turn when staff quickly discovered she had never had the means to pay in the first place. Miss, see the thing is they they have you on camera putting the item in out of purse. So, >> I mean, >> You said you were going to purchase it, so I don't see what the problem is with not purchasing it now if you if you have to purchase That's what I'm saying. You said you put it in your purse and you were going to purchase it, so obviously you were going to purchase it anyway to begin with. >> That That one didn't even have This one didn't even have Can I get my card from out the car? >> So you came in here without the means to pay for >> Well, I did have I do have my stuff in the car. I I do wait. Please and thank you. >> You could call this a second chance for her to prove she never intended to steal as she claimed the money was in her car, but once they got to the vehicle, the story changed again. >> Ma'am, do you got any ID or anything on you while we're >> No, I don't have a ID. >> You don't have an ID? >> I don't have a But I did have my cash app >> I got you. It's all good. I'm good, man. >> Now I was going to pay for it. >> Okay, cool. Whatever. >> What's your first name? >> I don't really want to give it out. >> Well, at this point you have to. What's your first name? >> I thought that was a highlighter for a second. >> Can I ask my TT for a second cuz I done left my cash app card at the house. >> No, do what do what you got to do to So what is your plan? You got the money? >> I know. My cash app card is in her house. >> Okay, well, you can wait here while they go grab it. She just told you you can't smoke that in here. >> [cough] >> If you were the officer, you could have noticed the suspect's evasive eyes while even the way she smoked revealed her uneven breathing. It all pointed to a suspect who was afraid of something. By then, she had to let the officer speak the truth for her. >> We're not playing the lying game anymore. We're going to tell them that we don't have the funds for this. Yeah. She has no She's not going to have the funds for it. I think best case scenario we trust Oh, I didn't even think about that. Thank you. I think Okay. Sorry, my handwriting is garbage. I think best case scenario is we trespass. And cuz she's not going to have the funds for it. >> Unless she Unless I can come back later. Unless I can come back later and pay for it. Cuz I did have my cash app card. Cuz it was in my cigarette pack. But I did have my cash app card. >> You haven't had it with you. You were trying to steal items. It's all on camera. You're very hyperactive right now. You can't smoke in here. >> Well, can we step outside with me so I can hit my vape? >> Wait. You didn't have it the whole time you were in here. >> Yes, I did. >> No. >> No, I didn't. >> You did not. I watched you grab it out of your car. >> The woman still appeared cheerful, even joking around because she believed she could still walk away. But only minutes later, her anxiety returned when she realized everything was about to change. >> What are you going to do? You're going to take me to jail or what? >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, can I call him? Can you I call my son? >> For what? >> Because I am on probation. I call my probation officer. I can't come back up here and pay for it. But I got to go get some money. >> You can make your phone call in jail. >> I I have any phone numbers on me. >> Well, you had stuff in your purse earlier, so Well, it was somebody's that you were trying to steal stuff in. Stand here. Hold on. I'm going to search you before you go. >> You can search me, sir. Do I look like I have anything on me, sir? >> say you had anything on you. I have to search you anyways. >> Y'all won't even give me a chance to call who I need to call. >> I would put your You can put your shirt on, please. >> Hello. Can I get in contact with my probation officer? >> Put your shirt on. >> Well, you said that you needed to change to >> I did not say I needed to see you naked. >> Well, it's hot. Well, it's hot up in here. >> I didn't say that. I'm going to >> I don't have anything. I don't got nothing. >> You know what? Just because you Oh. >> Hey, if you're going to put her back there, maybe she should take her uh >> Key? >> highlighter away. >> Yeah. Hand me the key. >> That's my house >> Can you grab his shield? Hold on. Hold on. >> The woman was charged with retail theft and trespass from the store. One bad decision can be forgiven, but repeated lies, wasted chances, and refusing to face the truth can turn a small mistake into consequences that follow you much further. Next, this woman pulled every trick she could think of to avoid facing the consequences of her crime. >> I ain't going to lie to you. I did just see a lot of girls running that way, but >> What they What they had a colorful bonnet on and Amazon Prime jacket? >> No, sir. Officer, listen to me. Listen to me. I have a right to. I know my [ __ ] right. I'm asking >> On the 22nd of April, 2026, police [music] officers approached a woman walking down the street because she completely matched the description of a shoplifting suspect from a Walgreens store earlier that day. This was what happened next. >> How are you doing? >> No, sir. >> Where are you coming from? >> Me, right here around the corner from my friend's house. Going to get on this bus. >> Okay. >> What happened? >> Go ahead and step out of this vehicle for me, okay? >> Okay, what happened? >> Where you coming from? >> From my friend's house. Just got off the phone with my friend. Going to get on the bus. What happened? >> We got a call about a female matching your description. >> Oh, I just I did just see some girls running that way with a bunch of bags, but not I don't have anything to do with it. Yeah, they had Walgreens bags, a bunch of them. >> Okay. What you doing? >> I ain't do nothing. What I do? I ain't do nothing. >> Was females with you? >> No, I wasn't with those females. I just came from around the corner. >> I don't know if you're going to go with us, okay? You're just being detained, all right? >> Okay, cuz I ain't do nothing. I was >> description, okay? >> Well, I I I ain't going to lie to you. I did just see a lot of girls running that way, but >> But they What they had a colorful bonnet on and Amazon Prime jacket? >> No, see I ain't >> Okay, well, that's the description we were given, okay? >> Okay, well, I ain't got nothing. I didn't been in those stores and none of that. >> If you were a police officer, handcuffing the suspect immediately would have been unavoidable after learning she had fled before. Especially when her story could not be verified and she did not even have an ID. >> I don't have anything on me. I don't have nothing. >> No, see I'm naked. I don't even have nothing. >> Did you drop a bag somewhere over here somewhere? >> No, I didn't have >> pass one off to somebody else? >> No. >> All right, well, they're going to talk because there's cameras everywhere, right? >> Okay, well, I don't got nothing to do with nothing. >> Okay. What's your name, ma'am? What's one of them? >> I'm from 50, you got her. >> Huh? >> What's What's What's the name? You You said Shamika first. >> I'm lying. Girl, that's what I said then. >> Okay, so spell it for me. >> Nothing on me. That's what I'm saying. I don't got >> to do with nothing around here. I did just see some girls over here. One of them did just ask me and then one of them did just ask me cuz she used my cell phone and I said no and I walked right here to the bus stop. >> Why are they telling me that you stole something? >> steal nothing. I'm telling you I didn't steal anything. I promise I didn't >> Well, I watched the cameras, there's nothing >> No, I don't got anything. I didn't steal anything. I don't got nothing. I promise you I don't got nothing. If I had something, y'all would have just called me with it. What the [ __ ] am I going to go? I can't go far. >> They gave me your full description. Said that you stole some liquor in a bag. >> A liquor? If if I stole some liquor, y'all would have found it. >> Well, >> Can I sit down over here? I'm going to sit down. I didn't steal no damn liquor. >> As a shoplifter, ditching the stolen items and claiming to have nothing might seem like an easy way to avoid trouble. But you should also watch your words when the police had not even mentioned the store yet because constantly bringing it up only made you look more suspicious. >> Yeah, why the [ __ ] police got me on >> 95th talking about I got >> I walked out. I ain't even been by no [ __ ] Walgreens. Talking about I've been by Walgreens. I walked out with a case of liquor. I don't have no [ __ ] case of liquor. I don't even got no clothes on. >> bag. >> They said I had them in a a box. Some [ __ ] they just said. I don't have nothing. The [ __ ] police got me though so you would know that they [ __ ] got me. I'm on my way on [ __ ] 95th talking about some I got some [ __ ] stuff in a gift bag or some some they said. I don't [ __ ] >> nothing. Walgreens said it. >> Well, Walgreens. Well, I'm not the person. Damn. [ __ ] I can't have no police contact. I'm on parole alone. I don't want to get in no trouble. >> What you on parole for? >> For um a petty robbery. It was like a little robbery case, you know, back then. >> Yeah. >> But I've been you know, been on parole for a nice little minute for that. When did uh that happen? >> This happened 20 >> Like 2015? >> Mhm. But, I had did a year on on electronic monitor. >> All right. >> And I'm doing good. That's how I said I ain't got nothing. Huh? >> How much longer you got on? >> I get off August 5th. >> Okay. >> So, this was not her first time dealing with police. She believed they could not arrest her without the stolen items as evidence, but the officers quickly proved her wrong. >> Put her in jail if we find the proceeds or not. People get arrested all the time for retails and we don't find the stuff. >> But, I don't got nothing, though. It's on What is I'm being arrested for? >> You walked out the store with it. That's all that matters. >> Okay, so what is I'm being Okay, can I know what I'm being charged for? >> Retail theft. >> I'm not Okay, so I'm getting that gold conversation or whatever. >> You go with the city park now. >> Okay, well, can I Can you let them know so he can know? >> Wait for what your decision >> Okay, but I'm saying I don't have anything, though. >> matter. >> mean anything. >> They watched you walk out of the store with the stuff. You're on camera. It's on camera. >> If Okay, show me the camera. And can you call the white >> We can show it in court. >> Okay. Okay, call. I want to see I want the white shirt to come right here because I'm on parole and I didn't take anything. >> Let's go. >> I You can take that off my head. I didn't take anything, though. Okay, can you call the white shirt? >> No. >> You don't need a white shirt. Okay. >> station. >> I didn't take anything, though. >> Get in. >> No, I didn't. You just don't say I took something and I didn't take nothing. >> I have cameras and witnesses telling me that you >> The woman refused to admit her actions and even started using her so-called civil rights to make everything more difficult. >> Can I have a white shirt? >> You don't need a white shirt. >> I have a bullet in my back. You cannot deal with me like that. You cannot deal with me like that. >> the car. >> Okay, can I Can I have a white shirt? >> I can't >> Okay, okay, >> can I can I talk to y'all first? Cuz I'm going to get let go. First off, listen to me. Listen to me. I have a right to. I know my [ __ ] rights. >> Okay. >> I'm asking you, am I going to get let go from the station because I don't have a >> No, we can't get to the station. You can't get to the station. You can't get to the >> What the [ __ ] you just going to tell somebody else? >> station for retail theft. I >> I'm on parole. Ow! >> know what to tell you. >> If you don't get the mercy, how you locking me up if I don't got nothing? Yes, that is. You can't You just lock me up if I don't got nothing. >> pull you in from the car. >> How if I don't have anything? Y'all just going to say it's me. I literally just came from around the corner. Okay, stop pushing me cuz I don't want no resisting. I'm going to get in the car. I'm going to get in the car. >> I don't want you to get resistant either, but we're sitting here waiting for >> Okay, it's a How long is this going to take? How long is this going to take? >> All day with you sitting here like this. [screaming] >> How I have to get my kids? No, I can't be out for no 2 hours. That's what I was headed to to get my kids. I got to get my kids. 2 hours I have to get my kids. Come on, man. For real. Be real. I didn't take nothing. That's why I'm pissed off cuz I didn't take [ __ ] >> Well, they can still watch the video and find out. >> Okay, well, let's all watch the video cuz this is wrong. I'm being locked up for nothing that I didn't even do. And y'all How y'all watch the camera that fast? How you watch the camera that fast? >> I have you walking at the corner with a white bag across the street to the other side. >> They told you that [ __ ] Look at it. They told you that. Okay, I'm going to get in. You don't got to push me. >> Then get in the [ __ ] car. >> Okay, I'm getting in. >> Like you're like a [ __ ] child. Now you're getting resistant in the car. >> The [ __ ] >> Here. >> She was charged with retail theft and resisting officers during the detention process. Trying to outsmart police with excuses, arguments, and technicalities only made the situation worse once the evidence and witness statements started lining up against her. Next, let's head back to Walmart once again, but this time the chaos wasn't about shoplifting at all. >> You're being pulled over getting out of the car. >> No, no, no, no, no, no, you're stopping me because two little girls >> Okay, so if you don't listen to me, you're going to get put in cuffs right now. >> Why is he down on me? >> We're not playing games. >> I stopped. >> Get in the car. >> I got it. >> Get in the car. >> On the 15th of November, 2025, officers received a report about an assault in a Walmart parking lot where the female suspect allegedly fled the scene shortly afterward. Police quickly caught up to her vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, but it became clear that handling the situation was far from easy. >> Get in the car. Get back in the car. >> I'm being searched for weapons. >> care. You need to get back in the car. >> You guys sit in the car. >> For what? >> Get in the car. >> For what? Searching my legs. >> Actually, come here. Come here for a second. Come here. Just come here for a second. Sit right here. Okay? Just chill here for a second. >> You want to talk to him for a moment? >> Stay in the car. >> Nothing happened. >> Get in the car. >> No. >> Let us talk to you. You need to stay in the car right now. >> What are you doing to my son? >> Why? This is not supposed to This is a This is a traffic stop. I'm not harassing you. This is a traffic stop. >> No, it's not. >> Yes, it is. >> No, it's because two people No, no, no. >> And we're stopping you getting pulled over getting out of the car. >> No, no, no, you're stopping me because two little girls >> you don't listen to me, you're going to get put in cuffs right now. >> Two little dudes. I can't get in my car. >> Why not? >> Because I can't hear what's going on. I'm going to No, you're not. >> Yes, you are. You can. >> No, you're not. >> Hey, hey. >> Hey! >> He's down. >> Stop! >> Get out of the car. >> She did what you said. I did what you said. What are you doing to me? >> Stop resisting. >> I did exactly what What are you doing? No! I told you I told you to get out of the car. I'm in my car. I'm in my >> We're going to We're going to get tased. >> I'm in my car. >> Get out of the car. >> Why are you pulling on me? >> Get out of the car right now. >> Why is he Why is he down on me? >> We're not playing games. >> I stopped. >> Get in the >> I got it. >> Get in the car. We're not playing games. >> You should remember that trying to use your vehicle as a safe zone while you were the subject of an investigation only made the situation worse. And with your aggressive attitude at At it only made the earlier accusation seem even more believable. >> Get out of the car. >> I gave her direct orders and she doesn't want to listen. >> No, no, you didn't. >> I told you to get in the car several times. >> it was a traffic stop. That's a lie. >> You need to get in the car. >> That is a lie. It's not a traffic stop. >> You're being detained. >> It's not a traffic stop. It's a lie. >> Hey, it's okay. Hey, everything's cool. >> You were lying. They were lying. It's not a traffic stop. >> It It is a traffic stop. It's called an investigative traffic stop. >> Yeah, because two people called in a lie. >> Relax. >> They called to hit my son and hit my mother and my baby. It's a car. >> And we're supposed to talk to you about that, but we haven't gotten to that. >> Okay, can I breathe? Can I breathe, please? I'm asthmatic. >> make sure we separate them, so maybe you just have her sit in the >> I don't want to sit in the car. I'll stand over here on the back side. I don't want to sit down. I will stand fine. >> Listen. We should I shouldn't have >> I'm upset. I'm upset because these two little kids almost hit my mom and my baby, and then they tried to hit my son. >> Let's Let Let me slow down first, okay? The reason I told you to sit in the car is because it's first office or safety reasons. I don't want to have to put I don't want to have to pull you out of the car, but when I give you instructions, I need you to listen to me, okay? >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> It's me and It's me and two two It's two of us, okay? And there's more of you than us. >> I'm sorry. I will listen, but I'm I'm I'm upset because they tried to run my mother over with my baby. >> When things stopped going her way, she quickly tried to shift the narrative and paint herself as the real victim of the situation, but to be fair, let's hear the full story from her side as well. >> Okay, when we were coming out to my car, we just got through Walmart. I was pushing the cart with the stuff. My mom was in one of those motorized wheelchair thingies, whatever, you know, that Walmart has, that all the stores have, cuz she can't walk very well. And she was holding my daughter. And they almost hit my mom in the cart when they were pulling in, they almost hit her. And then when my son's walking out, they see him and they speed up and almost hit him, too. And I said something to him because it's disrespectful. And then they got out of their cars and I said, "That's pretty rude. You need to learn how to [ __ ] drive." I got pissed. I did. And I cussed at him. I didn't touch them. Neither one of them. He fell running. And he goes, "So what if I did?" And that pissed me off even more. You almost hit my child and my mother. And then you almost hit my son. And you all you can say is so what? And then I I I was I was going to get him. I was going to, but I didn't. >> If it's all Okay, so battery is when someone puts their hands on You know what I mean? So, if if you didn't touch him, then there's no battery. You're right. Assault is when you make someone believe they're about to be harmed physically. >> He He did that to us when he almost hit my mother and when he almost hit my son. >> Okay. >> He did that to both of them. My My child in the backseat there, she's not even two. >> Yeah. >> And my my other son and my mother. >> She clearly tried to present herself as the victim, but did you ever question why she never called the police for help at the scene and instead chose to leave? Keep listening because the rest of the story revealed the answer. >> And that's okay for him to do that, though? And then be like, "So what about it?" That's exactly what he said. >> It's not okay. It's not okay for anybody to be doing all this. I feel like both of you should have just >> I know I should have. I should have. I really should have said something, but he did it to both of them. >> Yeah. >> Like I tried to let it go, but like I said, then he does try does it to He's literally seen my son when he was turning and he he he turned the corner down the the road probably about 15 mph. And there was a car he literally stopped maybe this close to the back end of the vehicle. >> Okay, and your son was driving? >> No, I'm driving. >> You were driving. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay, so when you saw that happen, you kind of pulled over. >> No, I wasn't driving. Neither Nobody was driving. I was The back was open like that when we were loading it up with our stuff. >> I see. And he came down and was >> Yes. My mom was right there. >> driving up too fast and you almost hit you you almost hit your mom and then almost hit your son. >> Yes. >> You called him out on it. You guys were arguing. >> Yeah, no, he just said he just said I'm going to I'm going to call the cop before I even did anything. He said I'm calling the cops for assault. >> Okay. >> Cuz I didn't do nothing. All I did was yell at him. >> he's going to call after you chased after him? >> Before that he said that. And then he did after I chased him. >> Okay, so after you chased him and then he fell and then then you guys already left by then. Okay, I see. >> He gave you guys my plate number and all that. >> Yeah, and I mean that's why I mean it's important for us so we have to talk to you. >> All right. >> You're not under I'm not you're not under arrest. >> So, within her own story, the woman had already admitted to chasing the man and that quickly helped officers make their decision. >> All right, dude. So, we've decided that you are under arrest for assault. This guy >> Why? What did I do? What did I do? >> watched the video footage and this officer here decided that this is what we got to go with. If you want to ask questions, you can talk to him. >> Have you read them their Miranda rights? Have you read them their rights? What what is what is the charge? What am I getting arrested for? What did I How did I assault him? >> So, assault is not you hit someone. Assault is when you appear to be battered. >> But we weren't interfering with anything, were we? >> No. >> Really? >> Yes, based on the video. >> Wow. Okay, you can stop talking to me now. >> 617 PC. >> They said I was hitting my grandson. >> Yeah. Yeah. Wow. That's crazy. Wow. Can I at least tell my daughter goodbye? >> I'll give you that. I'll give you that satisfaction. Go. >> Wow. Some little millennials are Wow, this is crazy. Wow. They lie through their Wow. I love our court system. It's so great. >> She was charged with battery and resisting arrest. >> [music] >> The moment anger took control instead of staying calm and contacting authorities, the situation quickly turned into criminal charges that could have been avoided. Next, the mother ended up facing three separate criminal charges in a single afternoon. >> I promise you. >> Then it's not going to be a felony. >> Okay, well my name is not My name is I can't say. I'll give you my real name. I just >> No, that's even worse. >> Uh because I didn't want >> On the 3rd of June, 2024, police received a report from a Target store about a woman attempting to leave with a full cart of merchandise without any intention of paying. Upon arriving at the scene, officers quickly realized the situation was far more complicated as a family member was also present with her. >> How you doing? >> What's up? What's up? >> So she's very concerned about her kid getting taken away right now, so she's kind of antsy and >> Okay, so what what happened anyway? >> This full cart right here is all everything she tried to walk out with. >> What was it? What was it? >> Everything. >> You got it? Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. >> Oh, yeah. >> All the parties. >> Yeah. We start working on it. >> You can be a trainer. See you. >> Literally just watching her load the wallet. We saw her in the department grab the clothes and put it on top of it. >> What happened? >> Tried to walk right out. >> I was uh well, my dad had passed and I was [music] trying to get relief for that uh trouble with my head and my So I was just trying to get some stuff. >> You could have [laughter] Could have asked for help. We're not stealing stuff. We can't be stealing stuff. >> All that liquor? >> It's a lot of liquor. >> All the parties. >> Really? >> But I put a refund >> Hey, Antonio, can you go to the back? >> The woman admitted to her actions along with a reason that was sympathetic but difficult to accept. However, when officers looked at the shopping cart, they formed a very different opinion. >> I ain't trying to close it out. >> Cart is attached to the way it is. So we got all the parties. Antonio is called out and goes out. Yes, this is all electric. She was selling stuff from my car so I flushed it down. Yep, that's what I was going to ask her. Well, she don't know what the other guy took. >> No, I literally just I got her liquor license. >> The total value of the merchandise was confirmed to exceed $700, which was enough to elevate the case to a felony level offense. So, the officers informed her of their decision. >> We're going to try to make this as nice as possible. I'm getting a car seat for the little one. Um we're going to go to the station. Um I'm going to charge you with retail theft because of the dollar amount that money after screening for you at the counter at safe return. You get the felony amount. More than likely because you have no criminal history there, they're not going to approve a felony, but I have to go through the process. So, I want to let you know how it works. >> Could he go with his dad? I don't want to take him to the police station. >> Be If If he's out there and he has nothing to do with it. >> He don't. >> He has nothing in that car that's that was stolen from here. >> He He never came. This is my first time coming in. >> What's he wearing? >> He had on all black. A black shirt, black pants, and black Jordans, and a the hat. >> Okay. Um we're going to go out there and talk to him. If there's nothing in the nest that's not, you know, that's not supposed to be there, then yeah, no problem. I have no problem at all having having him pick up the baby. Um, but if he is, obviously, if he does have some items in there that belongs to Target, then that's a >> But we never This is my first time walking in here. I never been here till just now. >> been to any other Targets today at all? >> No, I haven't been nowhere. >> Target or nothing? >> Nothing. >> Okay. >> This is my first time being here. >> So so you know though, if we do find out that you were at other Targets, we are going to file against you as well. >> I have not This is my first time being in person. Uh, I never even been here. This is my first time here. >> Cuz this isn't usually a one-time thing that happens. This is >> This is my first time ever did this. I never been anywhere else. >> you of what what could possibly happen. >> With the presence of a man outside, officers also updated her on the situation, which caused her to become visibly worried. >> Well, you're you're not going to jail, that's for sure. But you are coming with us, and you're going to get charged with retail theft. You know, like I said, we because of that because of the dollar Because of the dollar amount of being over $500, I need to go on ahead and contact the state attorney. If you're telling the truth that there is no criminal history, you're more than likely going to say, "Okay, you're done." You know, we're just charging you with a Let's see, it's a Class C misdemeanor retail theft, and you're going back home. >> Yeah, that's all it is. >> Now, for whatever reason, your your the baby's daddy right now is is under arrest. I don't know what he did out there, but then it's not going to be a felony. >> Okay, well, my name is not what name it is. I changed my I'll give you my real name. I just didn't >> Well, that's even worse. >> I because I didn't want to get go to jail for years or something. >> Well, you know what? If I run you, regardless, with with having your fingerprints, I would know exactly who you are. >> Additionally, although the woman claimed that her circumstances left her unable to afford alcohol for her father's funeral, officers discovered several details that contradicted her statement. >> What do you have under your driver's side seat? >> Uh, my uh my my gun. No, I have it registered. It's, uh, I got my FOID card and stuff in the car. I have my ID. >> What's the matter? What type of concealed carry? >> I have that. >> So, you have your concealed carry too? >> Yeah, I have my everything. Yes. >> Can you check for a FOID card and a gun? >> I have all that. That's all that's mine. It's in my name. I have my card. I have my I have everything. >> Okay. Let me ask you to check it now. >> Can you tell me where to get my wallet out the car? My wallet is in there with all my stuff in there. This right here, this mine. This in my name. It's paid for. It's I have all that. It's registered. >> All right, that that Ruger that Victor 2 rounds supposed to be on belongs to the, uh, person that has custody here. You check the seat she had available for it and concealed carry permit. >> It's in my wallet. >> just wanted to buy it, but he's saying that >> And I have the, uh, receipt from Eagle's Sporting Range where I paid for the >> Now, they're going to ask you >> It's all in I have The receipt for the bullets. I have the receipt for everything. >> Okay. >> That's why I don't have no criminal background cuz they let me get that. >> Oh, it sounds like >> No, yeah. You see? So, >> No, he's he's going to shoot them. Yeah, I'm nice to be over there. >> She clearly had the means to purchase a firearm, yet she claimed to be in financial hardship. However, that firearm may also have been obtained improperly as discrepancies in the system records led officers to issue a warning to her. >> It says you have no concealed carry. >> I have the receipts. >> I'm not curious about the receipt. >> I have my ID. I have >> You got to have to have like you know, like a driver's license. >> Card, yeah, it's my name. It's my concealed carry. And my name is on it. >> What does it say? FOID? Does it have Does it say, um, concealed carry? >> It say FOID. I have one with FOID and I have a second one concealed carry. They got I have two. >> Okay. >> [clears throat] >> But it's You see where I'm coming from? Does it make any sense? Because usually when we run someone's name, it's going to say yes driver's license, yes void card, yes concealed carry. No for driver's license, your driver's license is no good. Yes for >> don't have a driver's license. >> Well, you you've been arrested before for that, right? For suspended driver's license? >> No, I had I never been arrested for I never got license in my name. >> Have you been stopped before driving? >> Yeah, I have. Got stopped one time. >> So, you do have a driver's license, just no good because you've been stopped for it. So, you have a driver's license on on file? >> No. >> That's the way it works. >> Oh, okay. >> That's the way it works. >> I never went to the DMV to get another one. >> Okay, whenever you get stopped, okay? And you get stopped for driving a vehicle with no driver's license, the state's going to automatically give you a driver's license with a driver's license number, and it's going to say suspended. >> I don't have suspended. >> Okay. Forget it. >> I don't I don't get it, but he >> No, I don't know what to tell you. It doesn't I I'm just telling you what we're getting from dispatch. This is information given from dispatch. Okay? So, I know you're nervous. >> I'm not nervous. I'm just saying everything's legit, like >> The woman was charged with retail theft, providing a false name during lawful detention, and [music] unlawful firearm transport possession in a vehicle without valid concealed carry authorization. Retail theft established the base charge, the false name created an additional independent offense, and the firearm issue escalated the situation further. In criminal cases, attempting to avoid consequences during an investigation often compounds liability rather than preventing it. Next, this foolish thief still believed he could actually get away. >> No, where you going? He's running. Anthony Anthony, all right. Well, Anthony, you're going to jail. >> On the 19th of November, 2025, police responded to a Walmart after reports came in about an active theft involving a man suspected of repeatedly stealing high-value iPads from the store. Officers approached the suspect, but the situation suddenly took a dramatic turn. >> Excuse me, sir. Hey, can I talk to you for a minute? >> Mhm. >> Hey, so they're saying that uh that you've stolen some stuff from them. Can we go in the back and talk a little bit? >> Yeah. >> All right. No, where are you going? He's running. He's running out the front door. Black pants, black hoodie, black male. Stay here, sir. Stay here. Stay here. Stop! Get on the [screaming] ground! Get on the ground now! Please, get on the ground! Stop! You're detained! [screaming] Stop! You're detained! >> I would advise against running when police approached you because that alone already looked like an indirect admission of guilt. But, things clearly were not that simple as a suspicious vehicle believed to be driven by his accomplice suddenly appeared at the scene. >> You want to we got car contact. We got car contact. White Hyundai going going westbound right now. Northbound on 10 E. Northbound on 10 E. >> Everything showed that this theft operation was far bigger than it first appeared, and it was clear the suspects were not going to escape that easily. Police quickly caught up to them moments later. >> Show me your [ __ ] hands or I'll shoot. Stop now. >> Got him. >> I got him. I got him. I got him. >> Give me that. >> How was that? >> Put your hands behind your [ __ ] back. >> Stop reaching, dude. You keep reaching for that waist so you don't get shot. >> For good. For good. For good. For good. >> Right there. Hands right there. Right there. Right there. Right there. >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. [screaming] >> Get out. >> All right, let's roll him. Let me get these lights for you. >> If stealing is a job, this is one of those. Everything the police found during the search of the suspect proved that. >> There's your money. Why you stealing stuff? >> How's it all? >> His phone, the back of his phone says money is the motto. So he probably someone who spends >> And look at all that, too. And he's stealing [ __ ] >> This is for my job, bro. >> Oh, exactly. So, how about you buy your stuff? >> How's it all? >> Did you get her that accent? >> Uh-uh. >> So, don't worry. That That one got him. >> Not this bad one. >> Well, you Hey, you you gave us a heads-up where he was going, and so it's a >> Yeah. >> That was on >> There he is. DeMarco or Anthony? Which one? >> Anthony. >> Anthony. >> All right. Well, Anthony, you're going to jail. >> Here. Hold up. >> Meanwhile, an officer had arrived at the store to confirm information from them, and everything only further confirmed that the police had caught an organized theft ring. >> But, I do know that the very first case uh was sent to um what's his name? Of course, I can't. His name is Hamilton. >> Okay. >> So, total from all the other Walmarts, that's his total right now. >> Wow. >> Because no one's really been able to catch him. Um >> Not in my town. >> [laughter] >> This is This is the ones he just hit us for that day. >> Okay. >> Um and then he hit us, which this has all the footage and everything already. >> Awesome. >> And then, let me see if I can get >> Yeah, if you're able to download all that stuff or send all that stuff to us, that would be great. >> Yeah, he's >> like all over the >> Perfect. >> Yeah, he's literally >> You'll have a lot If you got him, you'll have a lot of Walmarts reaching out to you. It's what I'd like to see. Nationwide Nationwide uh crime spree ended in Kewaunee. >> All right, pull it. >> Yeah. I'm trying to Why won't it let me pull up the other one? >> The two suspects were charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, resisting arrest, aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, and related offenses following their attempt to steal high-value electronics and evade police. Running from accountability only escalates the consequences. What starts as a simple theft can quickly turn into multiple serious felony charges once a suspect chooses to flee instead of facing the situation. Next, let's shift away from the shoplifters and look at this woman who showed no shame in exposing herself. >> God, you did that to me? >> [screaming] >> Oh my god, you did that to me? Oh my god. >> Are you serious? >> [screaming] >> Are you serious? >> On the 13th of November, 2022, police were dispatched to a parking lot after receiving a report of a woman who was intoxicated and showing unusual behavior. Upon immediately arriving at the scene, from all of her actions, it was easy to see that the allegation was true. >> Right there. >> That white car? >> Yep. >> Okay. You're not planning on trying to get back in that car to drive home, I assume? >> No. >> Okay. Then what are you out here wanting towards your car in the park? In the parking lot. >> Trying to record. >> Record what? >> What's going on? My court. My phones in the car. My phones in the car right here. Uh I'm record that way and that way and that way. Six six way. >> Okay. Ma'am, do you have somebody that we can call to pick you up or are you going to be able to Uber? >> No, I don't. No. I'll sit right there. >> I don't think that'd be very recommended. >> No, I'm going to sit there until it's recommended. >> Okay. Do you live close to here? >> Yes. >> Where is that at? >> Yep. >> That's not very close. >> Yeah, it's close. Yep. >> You married? Do you have a boyfriend, husband? >> nothing to me, but they're for more than I I know all that from I'm an HR manager. I know all that stuff. >> Ma'am. >> Yes. >> Do you have somebody that you can call to pick you up? >> No. >> Nobody You don't know anybody that can come pick you up? >> No. >> Do you have any friends in HR that can come help you out? >> Uh From my attorney, that's not going to be answered. >> Your attorney for what? >> My attorney. Excuse me. Do you know what that means? >> Due to her intoxicated state, the officers prevented her from getting into the vehicle and leaving. Meanwhile, one officer approached while a nearby witness was also engaged to gather more information about the situation. >> She was out there trying to get into her car, which would have been bad. Do you work here? >> She Yeah. >> Okay. >> She um >> No, I don't feel well. >> I told her, "I'll give you a ride. I'll call an Uber. I'll call a taxi." She She just was yelling inside, screaming at people. And then she went behind the bar. >> Yeah. >> And I It's the first time I saw her. I I really don't want to no trespasser or get her locked up, but I don't know. I I asked her if she had a car, and she said she never even answered. >> She does. It's over there. She thought it was another car. She was trying to walk to it. But I grabbed her keys from her real fast. >> Okay. That's cool. >> But >> Yeah, and she's definitely intoxicated. >> Yeah, she's trying to. So I'm trying to prevent that here. >> Returning to the woman, she completely refused to cooperate with the officers. She insisted that she was still capable of driving herself, which only made the situation more complicated. >> Okay, Nancy, [snorts] so here's the deal. So clearly you can't drive. You were out here trying to find your car to try to drive away. >> my car because you He said he can't themselves. >> Anyways, Nancy, so you have one option. >> stupid. >> two options, Nancy. All right, we can march you right out to your car and take you to the jail, or you can go sit in a drunk tank [laughter] for a few hours for you sober up. Or if you want to get on your phone and call a friend to come pick you up, we can do that. >> Oh my god. >> Or if you want to call a cab, we can do that. >> Oh, really? >> I'm not going to sit here and waste my time talking to you forever. >> Oh, okay. >> And so you need to make this decision very quickly. >> Oh, you can do that. You can go ahead and do that. >> Okay, so do you want to go to jail and sit in the drunk tank? >> Really? >> I'm I'm asking you, is that what you want to do? >> No, I don't. >> Okay, then we can call a cab or we can call a friend to come pick you up. But I'm not going to leave here with your keys or with you leave you with your keys. >> going to leave my keys with a >> I'm not going to leave >> Cuz you're Shut the >> Shut up, Nancy. >> Really? >> Shut up, okay? I'm not going to sit here and listen to this I'm giving you a couple options. I'm not going to leave you with your keys for you to drive drunk and go crash into somebody, so you can call a cab or you can call a friend to come pick you up. I'm not going to let you sit here and yell in my face. Nancy. Are you going to call a friend or you going to call a cab? Are you going to call a friend or you going to call a cab, Nancy? Can you Can I Can I Can I >> No, you're not touching my phone. >> The presence of the police was deliberately ignored by her and the situation became increasingly tense as she even began making defiant remarks toward the officers. >> You're not going to call a friend. >> Go do what you want to do. >> Okay, then you're just going to go to jail and sit in the drunk tank. >> That jail go to jail go take and they could go all the way Flores was pranked. What? Oh! Oh! Oh my god, you did that! Oh my god, you did that to me! Oh my god! >> If you don't know, she took off her own clothing in an attempt to stage herself as a victim and falsely accused the officers of misconduct. This is exactly why body cameras are so important. And after that, the situation became extremely chaotic. >> Did that to me! Oh my god, you did that to me! Oh my god! You Fight! Shut >> Pull your [screaming] pants up. >> Oh my god! >> Oh my god. Kidding me, right? >> Wow! Okay, what is >> Breath. >> Pull your pants up. What are you >> Shut. Why would you do that? Why would you do that? >> Pull your pants up. >> Why would you cut me do that? >> I am on my front porch. Put your pants up. >> No. >> Put your pants up. Stop it. >> Why would you do that? Can you >> No ma'am. >> You Yes. Consequence. >> The woman showed no shame doing everything she could to make things difficult for the officers. However, she did not realize that her own actions ended up exposing her body for even longer. >> Help me now, what? Nationality. And you >> Pull your pants up for me, please. >> Just scout >> Just stop everything in >> my life. [screaming] You have have everything. Scout my life and the life of my What? >> Okay. >> You have a my life, too. I just want to both and Yeah. >> [screaming] >> Go. You go. You go. Cuz you know that you are No. >> Have a seat for me. >> Have a seat. >> Yes. Oh, just beat me with that. >> You slipped. >> Oh no. >> [screaming] >> I didn't slip with that. >> Get up. >> I did not stop with that. >> Turn your head. >> You hurt me. >> [screaming] >> Come on. >> You hurt me with this. That's what they did. That's what they did. That's what they did. >> [screaming] >> That's what they That's what they >> Why are you screaming? >> [screaming] >> Why are you screaming? >> [screaming] >> Even inside the patrol car, she still did not stop. She invoked her status as a citizen as a justification, but everything only further demonstrated that she was completely unstable. >> Because you know why? Because without the American Indian, me, because of us, you, you are nothing. You stole everything. Everything belong. You will leave everything. You will leave it. You can believe everything that you need. You can even do a genetics test. You know what that means? That means what your race and what your American race and your American race English race, well, guess what? You are us. You are us. You don't have to have stimulation that they gave you what we are us. You are us. That's what's so dumb. We are all of us. We are American Indians. We are African Americans. We are everything that you don't want to be. >> The woman was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and false accusation against law enforcement officers. This case shows that intoxication combined with refusal to cooperate can quickly escalate a situation. Making false claims or attempting to shift blame in a chaotic state only worsens legal consequences and leads to more serious charges. What do you think about cases like this? Even worse, the woman could not even control her own behavior. >> I didn't do nothing. >> You're good. >> I didn't do nothing. >> You're good. Just calm down. What's your name? >> I didn't do nothing. I didn't >> Ma'am, don't kick me. On the 14th of May, 2024, police received a call from Walmart regarding a woman [music] suspected of shoplifting. At that moment, officers approached her as she pushed a shopping cart out into the parking lot. This is what happened at that time. >> You got an ID on you? You don't have an ID on you? What's your name? >> Nakia. What I do? >> What's your last name, Nakia? >> I didn't What I do? >> Can you spell Nakia for me? >> I'm saying, what's the problem? >> Can you spell your name for me? >> Okay, but what's what's the problem? >> We got a call about shoplifting. >> I wasn't stealing. I wasn't on my grandma nail. I'm stealing. If I was stealing, I would have Okay. If I was stealing, I would have left. >> Okay. Do you have a receipt? And that's fine. We'll We'll get to that part as soon as I figure out who you are. Do you have a receipt for the stuff that you you purchased? >> The woman stayed silent when asked about the receipt, but she had no intention of cooperating. Her actions only prolonged the situation and prevented police [music] from ending it. >> Okay, I had paid for the >> All right, you're not being cooperative right now. >> How am I not? >> Put it down. Put it down. >> Okay, but please don't take my drink. >> Stop. Stop. Stop. >> But I haven't But y'all I haven't did nothing. >> You're good. >> What I didn't do nothing. >> You're good. >> But I just want to get I'm just trying to get my drink. >> Let go. >> What What >> Let go here. >> I'm just trying to get my drink, dog. >> We're not listening to you. >> Y'all Why are y'all trying to >> Let go. Let go. Let go. >> [laughter] >> But I'm just trying to get my drink, dog. >> From Walmart. >> No, I didn't. I was trying to get my drink. >> You're being detained for stealing stuff from Walmart. >> You ain't got to hurt me like that. Okay, but y'all ain't got to hurt me. I wasn't doing nothing wrong. Stop. >> All right. Do you have anything on you that could poke you, stick you, hurt you in any way? >> What are y'all detaining me for? >> Because I was called here for shoplifting and you're not able to just >> Okay, but I didn't I was You said I was He got my stuff. >> Shortly after, officers began searching the woman, but nothing went smoothly. Her actions afterward only led to additional charges against her. >> Man, get I just told you I don't have nothing. >> Well, we got to check. >> Okay, but Get off my arm. Man, get I just told you I don't have nothing. >> You don't care. >> Man, I don't got [screaming] nothing. Damn. >> Put your foot out. >> No, cuz I don't have anything. Y'all doing all that for no reason. >> Okay, if you take anything into the jail, any contraband, [laughter] it's an additional charge. >> Cuz I don't have anything. Damn, I just told you that. >> You're making this a lot more difficult than it >> Man, I can't do that. My arm and my [ __ ] hurt. >> Are you going to relax? >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. >> Damn, I just said I was. >> going to apply any unnecessary pressure to you. You just relax. >> I can't help it if I fall. >> Okay. >> Damn. >> Step back. >> Have a seat. Okay. >> Shortly after, officers returned the items to the store for inspection, and an employee confirmed that the stolen merchandise turned out to be the clothing the suspect was wearing. >> We can't do a prosecution for petty theft. It wasn't her problem the other day. And the pink shirt that she's wearing is also ours, too. Here's the tag. As she pulled out of her We are going to see it in here. >> She just walked out with >> Uh-huh. >> I have 642. All right. And the pink shirt that she's wearing is also property of our store. She didn't have another one? Another shirt, I guess. I don't know. >> No, we We have her uh She has her sweater. Yeah, her sweater. >> The total value of the merchandise was reportedly $145, which was not enough to qualify as a felony, so she was released shortly afterward. However, officers explained that she would still have to face charges. >> All you need to do for me is sign right here. This is a citation. It's not admission of guilt. All you're doing is signing a thing you received for >> We received a letter We have a court date. >> Yeah, court date is there. Watch yourself. 2024 >> Do I keep this? >> Yeah, we we have a copy. >> You'll get a copy. >> I'll be right back with you. It's going to be a yellow cup. By the way. All your stuff's right here. >> Can you write it down and put that on there? >> Yeah, I will. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting and obstruction. A simple mistake might still leave room for consequences, but turning the situation chaotic with resistance and defiance only made everything far worse for her in the end. Next, the woman still showed no intention of cooperating with the investigation. >> I'm not being too clean, though. >> You're not under arrest. Like we said, you match the description of somebody that stole items from Carter's. Okay, you have a first name, Dorana? >> No. >> Yeah. This is all Carter's. >> On the 23rd of March 2024, police received a report of a theft at the Carter's store. The suspect was believed to have fled the scene afterward, but based on the collected description, police approached one subject. These were what happened at that time. >> Hello. >> How are you doing? >> How are you doing? >> I'm Officer Morales, okay? Basically, I want to talk to you about something. You match the description of a female that we're looking for right now. Why are you out of breath? What's going on? >> I don't know. I was on the phone. I was just out with >> Okay. >> You said I matched what? >> You match the description of a female we're looking for. You mind if I get your ID? >> Here. I matched the description? >> Did you uh You go to Carter's at all? >> Did you do you >> Did you go to Carter's? >> I had walked out with something in my hand. >> So, you brought something from there? What did you get? >> I got my receipt and everything. >> Okay. All right. We'll just get your ID and then we'll We'll confirm if it's you or not, all right? All right. So, she do got a Cartis bag, so she's brought stuff out of there. >> my receipt and everything. >> So, just act normal. Let me copy your ID, all right? So, what? >> Oh, she got a Cartis bag? >> Yeah. >> She tried to deny her actions, but the store had a different account. >> I told you guys as she was rounding the corner and her breasts were suddenly huge because she stuffed all the product down her shirt um and into her purse. >> About how much did you think they took? >> a thousand dollars. >> A thousand dollars? Wow. >> They took >> her? Can you itemize her receipt? We're all wearing one of the females. Um she does have a Cartis bag. Uh we'll be at the store. >> Everything. What What did she say about Cartis? What was all you said about Cartis? >> She was in the dressing room for like a while. >> All right. They're at the Nike store, at least one of them. If you're able to walk over there and ID them. Uh ma'am, can you just step out of the car for me, please? Okay. Uh let me see your bag. >> My phone come back negative for like a while. >> You're not under arrest. All right. You're just detained right now, all right? >> Well, I ain't doing nothing. I know I'm not under arrest. >> Can you grab your phone over there? >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. Well, right now you're just going to be detained, okay? So, I have to place you in cuffs. >> Why am I being detained, though? >> You're not under arrest. Like we said, you match the description of somebody that stole items from Cartis. Okay, you have a Cartis bag. And once they come over here and they say you you is or not you, then we'll talk and figure it out from there, all right? >> But, that's still not all my stuff right there. >> That's what I said. Like once they confirm it is or not you, if it's not you, then we'll let you go, but if it's you, we'll have to talk about that, all right? >> Okay. >> head back there and look at cameras. You guys got cameras, right? >> Yes, we do. >> She denied everything, but she did not realize that even the smallest details had already raised the officer's suspicions. >> You're stealing from Carter's. You have a Carter's bag. >> to stop right there. >> Okay, but you have a Carter's bag, okay? And you know, we have to make sure that everything's accounted for in that bag. >> Okay. >> Okay. But, um, that's what we're here for. And it's just kind of little suspicious that you're you're not even in the driver's seat. You're in the passenger seat. So, where's your friend? >> Where is who? >> Where's the driver >> My sister? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, I'm waiting on her. She She >> Well, when did you start doing all this stealing? >> Well, she going to eat, you know. I don't know. I'm going to call her. >> Okay. Well, she could have two of them. Yeah, you know, one is better than none, right? >> You want me to put your phone in your pocket so it don't get wet? Yeah, that's fine. How long is it going to take her to get over here? >> Who? >> Who are you waiting on? >> I'm waiting on my partner to see. >> Basically, you going to bring somebody over here, right? >> See where that is. You are right there. Where that is not you. Like I told you, if that's not you, then we let you go. But, if it is you, then we will have a conversation to see what they want to do, right? I see where my partner's at. His radio is for right now. Restrooms? >> Police attempted to locate a second suspect, but no results were found, and the focus returned to the original suspect. However, she showed no intention of providing any information. >> I'm not taking off the gloves. >> You want me to call a what? A call phone? >> You said to call me and then have what to call phone. >> I don't know what to call phone to do. >> You're being detained for right now. >> Probably takes you 12 to 15 minutes. >> Okay. >> Did you leave with all the bags still here? She gone. >> Okay, perfect. We'll do a warrant for her and then you'll be taking a ride, too. You can hang up the phone now. >> Taking a ride for what? I didn't steal anything. >> Shoplifting. >> I I have my stuff right here. I didn't steal anything. >> We recovered the items. >> Uh >> Those are the Those are the items that apparently she paid for. >> And this is crazy. So, you're trying to take me to jail and I didn't take anything? >> Well, they have you on camera for this. >> I didn't take anything. >> Well, it says otherwise actually on the store. >> Where is it? I don't care. My charge is show me. >> They looked at it already. >> They already They already looked at >> That's why they called us. They gave a description and probably description of your sister and stuff like that. >> Yeah. >> I mean, you're taking a ride, she's not. She said she ain't here. She was having a warrant out for her arrest. >> You're saying you paid for these? >> Yes. >> Is there a receipt in here for these? Okay. >> Immediately afterward, police searched the woman's vehicle and what they discovered heightened their suspicions, leading them to believe these individuals were not ordinary shoplifters. >> I have a big bag up here. >> Okay. >> Cool. So, we need itemized receipts for that. They're uh Is this all yours, Ashka? >> Um I don't know. >> It's all right. >> I'm charged. >> Yeah. >> The other suspect's driver's license. >> You want me to run it? >> Yeah. >> This is all Carter's. >> I got one in. >> Probably a little one. >> This one's heavy as hell. >> That's That's all it says too? >> Yeah, it says all Carter's. >> I'm trying to I'm trying to take 30. >> I got one. >> But >> It's going to have a felony hold on it. >> Huh? >> It's going to have a felony hold on it. >> Why would they have a felony hold on it? >> Because I'm putting a felony hold on her. >> Why are you putting a felony hold on >> Because they're using this to commit a massive amount of retail theft and fraud. >> But Vinny just talked me from the jail. They let her use her phone. So, I can't get her. >> Got you. Well, regardless, the other girl was nice enough to leave her wallet and ID and everything. Three days later, the remaining suspect could no longer bear the pressure of guilt and turned herself in shortly afterward. >> Were you [snorts] at the window? Oh, what do How >> How can we help you this year? What kind of property >> My wallet and my phone. >> We're just going to step through these doors here. >> If you wouldn't mind just putting your phone on the counter here. And just go ahead and put your hands behind your back for me. >> In the end, the suspects were charged with grand theft from Carter's and petit theft from Old Navy. The outcome of this case showed that evasion only delays the inevitable. When evidence builds and pressure increases, responsibility eventually surfaces and those involved are forced to face the consequences of their action. More arrogantly, the women even ignored the theft alarm going off. On July 14th, 2023, police were dispatched to a retail store after receiving a report of two women engaging in suspicious shopping activity there. Officers positioned themselves at the entrance to catch them in the act, but unexpectedly, the suspects still carried it out in a brazen manner. >> Did you pay for that? >> No, she wouldn't let me. >> Who? >> The lady at the register. Ask her. >> Okay. >> Oh, she got to have that. >> to be detained at the at the moment, okay? >> Okay, that's fine. >> Okay. >> That's fine. bag. You want me to drop it? You want me to drop it? >> Yeah, drop. >> This is my bag. That's my bag. >> Okay. >> I got to sit there for a hour, like almost an hour. >> So again, so you're just being detained at the moment, okay? Doesn't mean you're being arrested. >> She walked out carrying a stack of clothes with the store hangers because she was not allowed to pay. An officer then approached the store manager to find out what had happened. >> So >> Yeah, I want to press charges. >> Okay, on both of them? >> Both of them. Yeah, they have all that is ours. >> Okay. So So apparently she they're saying that >> No, she want me to come to the car to the door to pick up a card. I'm like, I'm not going to the front door to pick up no card. She want to pay for it. Well, she already bagged it. >> Yeah, okay. >> She already bagged the merchandise. >> They're claiming that they weren't that you they wouldn't let you guys wouldn't let them pay, apparently. >> No, she See how long when we called you guys, they've been at the register and I saw her stuff that bag. I was looking at her from here and I saw her stuff the bag. >> Yeah. >> With all merchandise, with the hangers. >> Okay. So they they didn't pay for any of that. >> They didn't pay for nothing. >> Okay. >> She said she have a return and she have and she need her card. >> Okay. >> So I said, "Where's your card?" "Oh, it's by the door. If I could go get it." I'm saying, "I'm not going by the door to go get no card." No. >> All right. >> And she want one of my ladies to go get the card. I said, "No, we're not going out there." >> Right. >> Returning to one of the suspects, she appeared extremely frustrated with what had happened and showed no sign of remorse, claiming that the store was intentionally trying to get her sent to jail. >> Okay. So So at this time you are under arrest for shoplifting, okay? >> Oh, wow. >> Okay. So it sounds like you didn't you didn't pay for any of this. >> She did that on purpose. >> Okay. You got ID on you? >> Um no, I don't. >> You don't have ID on you? >> have my ID on me. >> Okay. You want to grab a seat? You want to grab a seat somewhere or something? I don't want going have you stand the whole time. Yeah, if you want to go over here. So before we start, I'm going to just I'm going to read you your rights, okay? And so you are under arrest for shoplift. You have the right to remain silent. You understand each of these rights I've explained to you? And then having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> Like what? >> Having the right having your Miranda rights in mind, do you want to talk to me? >> Oh, yes. >> How old are the kids there? >> Yes. >> All right. So let me get your your info first, okay? So you don't got ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> What's your last name? >> Davis. >> Davis? What's your first name? >> Tichina. T I C H I N A. >> T I Say it again. >> T I C H I N A. I don't see how I'm being arrested if >> No, no, no. We're not saying that. I don't want to say that. >> If that lady told me to get out >> At this point, as she continued insisting that she had done nothing wrong, the officer attempted to hear her version of events, but her explanation still seemed quite questionable. >> What time do you guys close? He said 12. And I was like, okay, I got a little bit of time. You guys close at like 10:30. Maybe like 10:50 when I walked in. >> So 10:50? >> Yeah, it was like 10:50 cuz I asked him what time they close, he said 12. >> Okay. >> And I was like, okay, cool, I have a little bit of time. So I'm just shopping, shopping, shopping. And then I guess it was 11:30 when they closed and I didn't know that because he said 12. The lady that I guess is the manager maybe, the black lady up there. >> Good. >> Yeah, so the lady that's when she comes to the back where I was at and she's like, we're closed, we're closed. >> So they were >> And I'm like, you're closed? You guys said you guys close at 12. I'm like, what time is it? She said it's 11:30. We close at 11:30. >> Okay. >> And I'm like, okay, and so I started, you know, going through what I was going to get and I'm like looking through my stuff and she's like, we're closed, we're closed. And I'm like, okay, so I started walking towards the front. And so when I get up to the front, this lady was already up there and she was like doing whatever she was doing with the lady up at the register, there's only one register open. And so when I came up there, I was standing I stood there quietly, didn't say anything. I'm just like letting them do whatever they're doing, waiting to get my stuff. And so the lady she's just going back and forth like I said opening up another register to let me pay for my stuff. She's just going back and forth yelling and yelling like like what is that going to do? We're closed we're closed we're closed. >> she saying? >> She's like we're closed I don't know what you're doing. Not not me she wasn't talking to me actually. She was talking to that other girl. I don't know what you what you need. >> the other person? >> No I know her but I don't I don't know her like I don't know like that but I know her. I know her but I >> You didn't come with her? >> No. No I came with my friend. And so I'm standing there and I'm like okay so I'm like can you open up another register? And she's like all registers shut down. And I'm like okay so you're just going to keep going back and forth yelling instead of trying to help the situation. And she's like what did she say? Then she went in the back she went in the back came back out and then yelled said something else to the girl and then um and then that's when I think she was asking to to get her card. >> The woman claimed that she had only been asked to go outside to retrieve her payment card even though she had previously said she was not allowed to pay. The second suspect also offered similar explanations. >> And I was trying to pay for my stuff there and then I realized that I didn't have my card and so I asked her can she walk with me to the door to get my car, you know? And she said she couldn't walk me to the door to get my car and I said >> Yeah that's two. >> The lady in there? >> Uh okay. >> Mhm. It was two of them behind the counter at that time. So I said can you walk me to the door to get my car and she said I can't walk you to the door to get your car but you can walk to to the door to get your car. >> Yeah. >> I said well can you walk with me to the door, you know? Because I know how this works and I said can you walk walk with me to the door to get my car and she said no I cannot walk to the door to get your car. She said you can go but I can't go. So I said okay so I walked to the door and that's I stopped right there at the right door because I know how this works. >> Yeah. >> And sure enough, yeah. >> What do you mean you know how it how this works? >> how this works. I know I I like I know like she's telling me to basically go outside to get my car, but you can't come with me? >> Yeah. >> That's why >> Well, I mean they they probably have policies against that, right? >> Oh. I don't know. I just know like from my point of view like from my side as a as a um person on the other end of the state like I know that I shouldn't walk out the doors with nothing. >> Yeah. >> what I'm saying? So, I knew that that wasn't right. So, that's why I when I walked I stayed right there and I you know I'm not allowed to you guys can. So, I already knew. That's why I said >> So, if you forgot I mean if you forgot your card, why didn't you why didn't you leave like leave the items and go grab your card and come back? >> No, cuz she took I was walking to the cuz she was supposed to be at the door and then she says, "Just go ahead, go to the door. I don't care. Go ahead." And I knew she was on the phone. I said, "You're on the phone with the police." I said, "Oh my god, why?" You know, you talk to the police. to know. I said, "You don't even have to do that. I'm leaving for a second." And so, she said, "Go ahead. Go Go ahead. Go ahead." So, I had my hand and you go ahead. Go Go to the door. >> The woman fully understood that leaving the store with the merchandise was wrong, but instead of showing remorse for what had happened, she began explaining her personal circumstances in an attempt to ask for leniency. >> Other than that, I mean it's just hard times and that's what I was going to do, you know? >> No, I understand. >> through a lot domestically so I was just saying that. But other than that, like I've been doing good for 5 years. You know how I I'm a single mom. I have a daughter. I don't have to take good care of her. >> Where's your Where's your daughter at now? >> my auntie right now. My auntie's a paraplegic so she has one leg. >> Okay. >> And so, I don't you know >> Yeah. All right. Well, again I appreciate you being cooperative, all right? So, >> So, again so it goes back to like so if you knew kind of what was going down and you knew she was on the phone with the police, I mean why why even risk it, right? >> Because I wasn't going to I wasn't going to steal the stuff. I was going to pay for it like I told you. So, I was just >> like why >> leave the items and go grab your cart and come back? You You can't You said you kind of had an idea of what was going down, right? >> Yeah. Yeah, I did. I did. I did. >> But yet you still went through with it. >> Because [clears throat] I wasn't going to come outside. You know, that's why I stay at the doors. I know I know this stuff. I know like what to do and so I'm like I'm not going out the doors with this stuff. Like you told me to go, but I'm not going out the doors. I'm going to just go to the door and if she doesn't read my card, then here, you can have it. And that's why I Your security guard was right there. He was trying to follow me outside. So, I knew she was on the phone to you guys. I You probably heard me say you were on the phone to the police. >> Yeah. Where was Where's your car at? Where were you trying to get your car at? >> know. It's It has to be in the car somewhere cuz it's not on my person. >> Where's your >> My My friend's car is right there. >> Where? >> Alicia's got a gun on top of the car. >> Which one? >> Straight right there by me. >> Whose vehicle is it? >> My friend Alicia's. >> Okay. >> Yeah. She's over there. >> The women were formally charged with shoplifting. Denying responsibility and shifting blame does not change the facts. When evidence clearly supports wrongdoing, personal circumstances may be considered later in court, but they do not erase the legal consequences of taking goods without paying. Next, the man even tried to play innocent in an attempt to escape accountability. >> What if it was You searched everything? I Hey. >> Sir, do you really think >> It's possible. >> Okay. Okay, get in the car. We'll figure it out. You tried to steal a TV, but you didn't get away with it. And then you stole a sound bar and you tossed it over the wall. >> What? >> Yeah. >> On the 4th of January, 2025, officers stopped a man suspected of involvement in a theft at Walmart [music] and fleeing through an emergency exit. When approached, he showed no intention of stopping. And this was what happened next. >> Let me run after you. I got two more guys coming on the other side. Don't run. What? Don't run. >> For what? >> Stop. Stop. >> What are you going to do? Don't Hey. Don't Don't Hey. Stop. >> What are you doing, man? >> Step it up, guys. Step it up. I got him. He's resisting. >> Resisting? >> Okay, Andrew, I got your back. Put your hands behind your back. 623 I got him in custody. All right. Do you have a shot? Make sure it's clear. What are you pointing at? You're pointing at him the whole time. I didn't put him down yet. >> Okay. >> All right. Put him down for me. >> All right. We're here. Stay put. Don't go anywhere. >> How about that? >> I'm going to hold on to his wallet and his >> Yeah, his wallet and his wallet and his I'll pick these up. You got ID on you, bud? >> What? >> You got ID on you? >> Got ID on >> What's that? >> On me. >> Do you have ID on you? Are you from around here? You from around Volo Park? >> You got an ID? >> All right. Let's see your face. You don't look familiar. You're not from around here, huh? >> What are you talking about? I just got tased out for no reason. >> Shortly after, officers attempted to obtain the man's information, but he showed no concern about resolving the situation, forcing them to ask repeatedly many times. >> What's your first name? What can I call you? >> What's yours? That's That's what I was going to ask you. >> What's What's that? >> That's what yours was. >> My Spreckman. What's yours? >> First name? >> First name, sir. >> Spreckman. >> My last name is Spreckman. My first name is Sonya. What's your first name? >> Spreckman. >> 325 You got a badge number, too? We going to play this game? >> Play what? >> What's your first name, sir? All right. >> I don't know what this is. Listen, man. >> We can do it the easy way or we can do it this way. You let me know what you want to do. I'm trying to help you out, bro. >> What is this for? What are you doing? >> Okay. >> You tell me what Why are you doing it? >> Absolutely. I'm going to tell you everything. Hop in my car. We're going to have a nice convo for a little bit. >> Sexy. No, I said what I need to know. >> Take a seat. >> You stopped because of your past a prospect of retail theft. >> Sit down. >> I feel so sexy. >> Now we're going to follow up that you are not. >> Did you find it on me? >> I'm sorry, sir. >> If I stole something What did you You searched everything I had. >> Sir, do you really think >> It's possible. >> Okay. Okay, get in the car. We'll figure it out. >> The man denied the theft, claiming he had not been carrying any stolen items. In reality, he had stolen a TV and a sound bar and fled through an emergency exit, abandoning them before being stopped. Then used that excuse to challenge the officers. >> Then make sure before you take someone in. >> Yes, absolutely, cuz I don't want to lose my job. >> I steal in the car? >> I'm sure I would get the right guy. >> So, what's what's the theft mean? >> So, right now, you know what we're doing? Right now, we're going to have you sit right here and we're going to bring the guy who actually saw you steal it. They're going to come over here and see if it's you or not, okay? And if it's not you, guess what? Bye. And then we get to go home, too. But if it is you, you go back with me. >> What did I steal? What's the definition of a >> now. You tried to steal a TV, but you didn't get away with it. And then you stole a sound bar and you tossed it over the wall. Yeah. I don't know if it's you yet. That's what we're trying >> I tried to do >> I don't know if it's you yet. That's what we're trying to find out, all right? So, just hang in there. And you know what? As a matter of fact, let me read you your rights since you're talking to me. >> You just said it's for a theft. >> All right. >> I tried to do something. It didn't work out. It didn't work. >> Well, that's what cameras are for. You got your Miranda rights on you? >> No, and the cameras will show. You know, cameras show me stealing. >> Yes, they do. So, just hang in there. Listen, if this is a mistake, it's a mistake, but mistakes happen all the time, right? So, you just got to be patient >> Camera will show. >> Exactly. So, just be patient with me, sir. >> If I had it on me >> Correct. Correct. >> He did not deny any of the details provided by the store, instead acting confused and even stubbornly denying the situation. >> Do you understand what I just read to you? >> No, because it doesn't make sense. >> None of that made sense? >> No. >> Okay. You're under arrest right now for retail theft. So, take a seat in my car. >> What did I steal? >> You're under arrest right now for retail theft. So, sit in my car. We'll discuss that later. We're not discussing this it's of 10° right now, okay? Take a seat. Take a seat, sir. >> What I steal? what what is he talking about though? He didn't do anything. >> Sir, take a seat. Take a seat. >> Let's go. Yes. We can leave then. I can see it all the way up in there. >> Turn it off. We can talk it out here. All right, do me a favor. Let's all get along. >> That's him. >> Yeah, give me whatever You can give me some type of video right now, that'd be great. And then the rest will I'll send them in a case. >> Which one is that? >> Oh, he's over there? Okay, you want to run over there then? >> He's the one that did that. You want me to go see where the sound bar is at? >> I guess so. >> it over in the golf course? >> Yeah, I guess we can do that. I just want to get something on video before I start the doing anything. And I'm sure he's not going to tell me who he is, so I got to fingerprint his ass. Hey, thank you guys. Appreciate it. >> The officer took him to the police station to obtain his identification information, but nothing became easier as he had no intention of cooperating. >> All right, do you have a driver's license? Have you ever had a driver's license or a state of a state ID issued by Illinois? Yes, no, maybe so? Bro, I'm going to tell you right now. I'm I'm going to be honest with you. The more you make us work to find out who you are, the more charges you're going to get by the state's attorneys. Everything is audio and video recorded. So, the cooperation helps you in many ways. So, I want you to take a deep breath and think about how you're going to talk with me. If you're going to stay silent, we're going to have some major issues. You don't need to talk to me about what happened today. I don't care. I read you your rights. You want to talk, great. You don't, great. But, I do need to identify you. Are you going to cooperate tell me your first and last name? All right, man. Unfortunately, that's another charge. Oh, yeah, but now I got to identify him. So, I'll screen that and I'll let the state's attorney know that he's not cooperating, didn't give me any information. All right, go ahead and stand up. I got to fingerprint him. Do I give him Do you want to give him a couple minutes to think about his name? You're all right, mate. I don't care what people say about you. You're actually a nice guy. I don't have a couple minutes. But, if you want to give him a couple minutes, I'll I'll give that to you. >> The man was ultimately charged with retail theft, a felony offense, along with obstruction of identification. His actions showed that attempting to avoid responsibility and refusing to cooperate with officers only made the situation worse, leading to more serious criminal charges and unavoidable legal consequences.
