She was suspected of being involved in a shoplifting incident at Home Depot. After reading [snorts] her Miranda rights, the officers questioned her about the incident. I'm going to go to the house. Honestly, I'm going to go to the house. Go get her phone, bro. I call >> you. You let me You let me talk. >> Go to the house and go pick her phone. All right. Go ahead. >> You let me talk. In these day and age when it come, let me finish. I know >> if somebody purchase something online, they could even sc 74 years old. I a lying. So she have a smart she have a smartphone. >> She got a iPhone too and she really know how to work. But I'm going to go get her phone though. I swear to God. >> I promise you. I ain't lying. I'm going to go get her phone. >> Well, it's not about she lying. I'm not saying she lying. >> Like the hell I got money, bro. Little hell. Did you go to the the registers or say anything like that? >> No, I went to customer service. >> Oh, you went to Customer service? >> It was right basket right there like already cuz you could see your bungee your order already online. >> So you went So you went to the customer service. You had a confirmation of the order and then basically >> I said I got a pickup and then the boy I know the boy kind a little bit and then I had a pickup and then he gave me the bag and I left. >> He just >> Her tone became increasingly tense whenever the officer asked anything about the store or the incident. Her story also had obvious inconsistencies and the officer quickly began questioning those details. Well, >> let me ask you another question and stuff like that. Right. So you um you said you went you went there and stuff like that. >> Yeah. >> Did did your mom tell you a confirmation number for >> I'm going to go get her phone, bro, cuz she want answer. >> I'm saying you going to go get a phone. >> I'm going to get her phone and show her the confirmation number on her phone. She don't know how to screenshot. >> What exactly she that she purchased? >> She got some paper towels and tissue. Some [ __ ] >> How much of it? Like like I >> normally people normally I'm just pause let me just let me finish. Normally people do not >> let me finish if they're not computer savvy and you just say or technology savvy. >> Why she let me finish >> they would not purchase something online >> because it's I show her like it's cheaper though. >> But here's the thing you you basically kind of you basically told me something that's doesn't make sense. I'm I like I like working in logic, right? I'm a logical person. You saying that she doesn't know how to use a smartphone? >> Not like she >> Okay. Then how she order it? >> She know how to order pay her bills and stuff like that. But as with screenshot, she don't know how to do. >> That's easy. That's easy. >> She don't know how to do. Like I could tell her to press these two buttons, Mom, and she'll press it. But >> you could have call and tell her that. >> But she answering the phone, bro. That's what I'm saying. She >> You sweating like it was like yesterday's business. >> It's hot. >> I'm outside. >> It's hot. >> You inside the car. >> It's hot. I know. >> Your car was in AC. >> You ain't You out in the outside. on my end. >> Yeah, but she was driving, but she's sweating like it was yesterday's business. >> Her behavior clearly suggested she was worried about something. Even so, she tried to appear calm and composed, even threatening to sue the store as if to project confidence. >> I ain't stop you. >> Bro, what? I'm trashing tickets. >> Yeah, but I didn't stop you. So, you saying that you have money? >> Yeah. >> How much how much confirmation number? when I come back and get the confirmation and when I come back get the phone and give you confirmation number and I could between me and you. >> You can do whatever you want. >> I'm just saying though >> it's like you know it's it's not me to take give you I can't give you legal advice. I'm not a lawyer. >> But you know you >> I'm not an attorney but I'm not attorney. You know >> I'm going I'll give you the same answer I give everybody when it comes to legal advice and stuff like that. That's not my job to do. >> But you I enforce the law you know law enforcement. I enforce it. >> I enforce it. I know the law. But in >> in reference to you in reference to me getting to give you legal advice to sue somebody. That's not my job. I can't do that. But you can do whatever you you feel reasonable to you. You can somebody for just walking on looking at you crazy. >> No. >> If you want to, you feel like a person. Yeah. >> Everything. If it's a civil matter, somebody say it's a civil matter. That's civil. You want to see somebody for a civil matter, you could do it. It's up to you. You have that right. >> In fact, [music] the officer had initially stopped her because her driver's license had already been confirmed as suspended. [music] He later returned to that issue since it was a separate offense that could not be ignored. >> Nowadays, he's being a smart thing. How long's your license been uh invalid? >> A little a little bit. A little bit. Yeah, you can see though, right? >> You trying to No, I'm working on I work on but they take it out my um every month though I get a SSI for my son. Every month they take out like $75. >> So how much get it's probably like I don't know like a little mini like I mean it's a little it's a little >> what more than 500 600 700 >> it's in a,000 me stacks. >> Not stacks like it's going down. It was at five. It was at six. I got it down the light too though. >> What did you What were you >> Oh, the first I had my license since I was 17 years old. That that red light on 21st Street in Australia have a flashlight. >> They used to They took it out though. That that messed up my license like >> taking the red light. >> No, yellow light though. But they see a lot >> red light. Yeah. A lot of people had issues with that. You know, red light, yellow light. You know, we as a police department, we don't govern those lights. All right. So, but I ain't been in no trouble with these things. I just had I don't know. >> At that point, the backup officers arrived at the scene. After conferring with one another, they made the decision to place the woman in handcuffs. >> All right. So, you step out. All right. You can hold your phone on top of your face. >> I'm going to take him to jail. >> Just turn around. Turn around. I just I read your right. Turn around. >> I'm going to go to jail. >> Listen, just turn around. Make this easy and fast. All right. I'm place you on the arrest for a second. All right. >> All right. Put your hands together like like you're praying. >> Huh? >> No. >> Just relax. >> You sweating like it was yesterday. It's bad news, mama. >> I know, but you sweating too much. It's like relax. Yeah. You got small. You got You got >> my hand. She's so sweaty. This is uh keys. Your phone? >> Yes. >> All right. So, see, since you hide, what I'm going to do is I'm going to put you in back of my car. >> So, when that female officer, the female officer going to come and search you. >> Yeah. >> Why? cuz you got >> officer. I promise you, bro. I will go back and pay for the stuff. >> You have no proof or anything? >> I do, officer. You can call my mom. I promise you. >> Like, I swear to God, I got a son to take the school tomorrow. >> I can get Well, I can pay for Here's again just saying char. >> I got you. But I I can't. That's not my car. >> I I hear it. Let's keep going. >> She continued begging for a chance to [music] go back and pay for the items, almost as if she had never actually paid for them in the first place. Her please didn't stop there. She then begged to call her mother, hoping to find something that would support her story. >> Call your mom for what? I mean, It's not It's not my car. You don't have no um please call my mom. Please come. It's too late to call your mom right now. >> Oh, so you told me you he told me >> I'm I'm going to let you call your mom. >> But I need to call her the grandma. I promise you I wasn't stealing. You >> still You still going to jail. But >> why? >> Because of you stole. >> I did not steal. Officer not even listening to me. >> I am listening to you. Take it. Take it. >> I'll promise you at the hospital. >> Okay. >> So, so hang on. Hold on. Hold on. Follow. Can you Can you stop by? Listen. Crocodile tails don't work on me. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft and driving with a suspended driver's license. [music] Having proof can make all the difference when your actions are questioned. Just as importantly, admitting to a separate offense during an investigation can create stronger evidence against you than the original accusation itself. Next, what began as a simple traffic stop led officers to uncover a seasoned criminal. >> They're counterfeited. You know why? Cuz you all have the same zero number. >> Receing here from Walgreens. >> That's why you bought it with the with the gift card. On the 27th of December 2023, [snorts] officers conducted a routine traffic stop, but they never expected it would lead to one crime after another being uncovered. As soon as they approached the vehicle, they immediately smelled a suspicious odor. >> So, she says that either her baby daddy or her boyfriend smokes marijuana. >> Yeah, I can smell the weed coming out of the car. >> It's not really a big deal. We're not we're not saying you smoke marijuana, but if you're saying your either your baby daddy or your boyfriend, I'm already confused smokes marijuana and this is carb, there could be a reason why we're smelling it. >> Does that make sense? >> Yeah, that makes sense. I didn't know it. The car was carb. >> Okay. >> Tell me a little bit about you. What do you do? What kind of work you do? >> I do a little bit of everything and massages. >> Okay. >> And also I sell lingerie. >> And you sell lingerie? >> Yeah. Behind the passenger seat, a large amount of merchandise was scattered around, immediately raising the officer's suspicions. They then asked the woman to step out of the vehicle so they could proceed with the next steps. >> Any firearms in the car? >> No. Just go back there. I don't want I don't want you to hit back up. >> Anything on you I should know about? >> That's fine. Don't reach for anything. I'm going to have a female pat just come and pat you down. Here's where we're at. The reason we're searching your car is because like my partner said, we do smell the order of marijuana coming from the from the inside of the car. So that probable cause to search inside your vehicle. You understand that? So you're just going to hang out with my partner here. We're going to look through your vehicle. If there's nothing that if there's nothing in this vehicle, then you just go about your business. You understand? >> Okay. >> Do you think there would be marijuana in the car like you're doing? >> Maybe. I don't think, but you know. Okay. There's a lot. There's a lot of cash to be handling by such a young lady by herself. >> No, I just went to the ATM. You >> went to the ATM? >> Yeah. >> The ATM gives you that this much money. I used to work for a bank. I used to work for a bank. I >> went to the ATM and I got a couple dollars. I already had some money since last night. >> Gift cards, right? >> Yeah. >> I always had gift cards. >> Yeah, I know. >> That's where >> Okay, so let's let's try this again. You live in Miami Gardens, which is not right here. That's two different counties. >> Mhm. >> Why would you drive all the way to the Weston Walgreens? >> No, that's why I said I was already coming to the area. I was going to >> Where is your ultimate goal right now? Where are you heading to? >> To pick up the baby. >> Where's the baby? >> Sunrise. >> What part of Sunrise? >> Uh, that's not address university. [music] I don't know the address. I just know how to get there. She kept changing her story, making her statements increasingly inconsistent, as if she were hiding something. The officers then decided to handcuff her after discovering it. Come here, man. Come here. Turn around. Put your hands on your back. You're being the same for right now. >> They're counterfeited. You know why? >> Cuz you all have the same serial number. >> Yep. >> Yes. I was working at the club and somebody gave me >> You were what? >> I was working at the club the other night and somebody could come to >> You just said you do massages and sell lingerie. You work at the club, too. >> I don't No, that's not something that I like to >> Here. >> I'm a dancer. >> Oh, you're a dancer, too? >> Yes. >> So, you're a massager. >> You sell lingerie? >> I do a little bit of >> You're a dancer. >> Yes. >> And you spontaneously uttered that somebody gave those to you? >> Yes. when I was dancing in the club. >> From possessing illegal drugs to carrying counterfeit money, she hardly seemed surprised, as if she had known about it all along. But it wasn't over yet, as the officers discovered several more items suspected of being stolen. Besides, fraud written all over, bro. >> Let me ask you a question. You just left Walgreens, right? >> For this set now. Well, probably some more blames. >> Yes, I I purchased >> What? What did you just find? >> I purchased everything. >> Okay. >> I was just about to put them on. >> All right. So, get getting back to the bags that you were seen carrying out of Walgreens. >> Yes. >> Did you buy it? >> Yes. >> You have a receipt? >> It's a digital receipt. That's what she said. >> It's a digital receipt. >> Yes. Because when you have a Walgreens card, all I have to do is put mine on it. >> Did you use any other money to to make a purchase? >> Cash? No. Yes. No cash. >> It's time to pay. >> You have comes out. >> No. >> That's my rent money. >> So, how much am how much is right here in these 20s? Two grand. And >> you said you got it off on the ATM. Not all of it. >> Where'd you get the rest of it? >> You okay? So, how much did you withdraw from the ATM? >> Um, just about a thing. >> How about how much? >> Again, 900. >> 900 or grand? Okay. >> She continued lying to the officers, but none of it fooled them. As they kept searching the vehicle, every additional item they found only reinforced their suspicions. Where did you get this from? >> Huh? >> Everything was at Walgreens. >> Okay. Did you just get this from our Walgreens? >> Huh? >> Yes. I just took it off. >> Okay. >> And where is your receipt for this? >> Things went to the online receipt. >> I understand. But they still print you a receipt out. >> No, they don't. They when they're digital, they don't give you a I don't >> right here at the button. Stay right there. >> If it doesn't pops with the button, you have it. There's a receipt in here from Walgreens. >> That's why you bought it with the with the gift card. See, >> now it's all making sense. >> So, what I think is happening is gift cards are being bought with the counterfeit money. >> Mhm. No. >> And then >> that's what I think. >> I didn't purchase them with any counterfeit. If you go to Walgreens, I know >> I didn't use any counterfeit. >> I literally >> You're in possession of counterfeit bills. >> Yes. When I was working at the club, that's what they gave me. >> You know that's illegal, right? I didn't. All I've been doing was trying to make my rent money, sir. >> Okay, >> that was it. That was it. They told me try to go to the bank, see if it was cheap it out for me because that didn't even make sense. >> In fact, the woman had driven from Miami Gardens to Weston to shop while carrying counterfeit money and gift cards. The officers suspected she was involved in a fraud scheme, and she eventually admitted to making those purchases. >> 700. >> You spent $700 right now? >> Yeah. >> On what? Was it the gift cards? >> Yeah, I got one gift card and I got all my um >> Okay. So, your total bill, >> did you do multiple purchases or just one? >> Oh, he told me to do it separate. >> So, how many individual purchases did you make? >> Oh, I just did two. >> You did two? Yeah. And so, two purchases and the total the grand total for both purchases was how much? >> About $700. >> About $700. >> And so, you live in Miami Gardens. >> Yes. You drive all the way to Weston. You don't live here. You have no family that lives here. >> Like I told you. >> I know you told like I told you. The story just doesn't make sense >> cuz you're saying your baby is somewhere in Sunrise. So why wouldn't you just go to the Walgreens and Sunrise? >> To be honest with you, I was already angry. I was on the phone talking. That's probably why I didn't notice the stop sign. on the phone talking, venting, and I went to go get the to original pancake, but then I end up changing my mind. So, I just >> Right. So, look, >> kept driving. >> I I it still doesn't make sense, but if that's your story, you're sticking to it, that's fine. Listen, I don't want you to get in trouble for what someone else may have you doing. So, I'm a fraud guy. And I don't know if that's clicking in your head what that means, but all of these money orders and cards and gift cards, I'm going to write subpoenas for. I'm going to backtrack them. I'm going to see who the victims are. I will get my answers. This is not legal what you're doing. Okay? I don't want you to get in trouble for what someone else is having you do. Think about your kid right now. Nobody else. You and your kid. In the end, the woman was charged with petty theft, possession of forged bills, and three drugrelated offenses. One lie often demands another until the truth becomes impossible to defend. [music] In the end, it is not just the original crime that brings consequences, but every dishonest choice made to cover it up. Next, these two women turned a shoplifting case into one involving multiple additional criminal charges. >> I don't want you getting hit. You want to get to your kids, right? >> Yes. I got a couple pocket, sir. >> What's this? >> On the 17th of March 2023, police received a report from an Old Navy store about two women who had allegedly concealed large amounts of merchandise beneath their clothing before leaving without paying. But after driving only a short distance, they were quickly stopped by officers. Here's what happened. >> With the Lumino Police Department, okay, you got license and insurance on you? >> No, I don't. I just did my stuff really just rock this time. >> Okay. Do you mind uh turn your car off for me real quick? >> Yeah. >> You mind if I have the keys? >> Why I'm being pulled off for? >> I'm stopping you because you pull out without signaling. Okay. It's hard to read your license plate and you made a you made a couple lane changes. >> So, why you want my keys though? >> Cuz I don't want you driving off. >> Okay. Just take your keys out for me. >> Seat belt either. >> My name Dja Trippy. >> Okay. Let me see an ID then. >> I don't want my um ID. >> Okay. And I'm going to have you step out here. Okay. While I run your name. No, if you want to come over here to me, I'LL WALK OVER HERE. >> I want to talk to you while I run your name. >> Listen, you're making this more difficult than it needs to be. Okay. >> Just come back here while I run your run your name. Okay. I don't know if you have a license or not. You ain't got no guns or nothing crazy like that, right? >> Hang out back here. >> What are you doing? I'm doing fine. My name Dja Triplet. >> Dja? >> Yeah. >> Okay, let me write it down here. Let's stand back over here so we don't get >> I don't want anybody ahead of us. You know what I mean? >> As soon as the driver stepped out of the car, officers immediately confronted her about the suspected shoplifting. She repeatedly denied the allegations, but her evasive responses only made her seem even more suspicious. >> Okay, I got you. How do you spell? D A I J A >> Hey, if you're near Court, can you run over to Old Navy? I contacted them about these suspects. They walked out with jackets and multi sealed items. >> I didn't take nothing from the Old Navy. >> T R I L E P. I didn't take nothing from the Old Navy. >> Okay. Well, we see you walking out with a jacket on. It was full of stuff. They said you didn't mind. >> I didn't take nothing out of no Old Navy, sir. I listen, sir. I did not take nothing out of the Old Navy. Please, sir. What's your date of birth? January 15th, 1994. I did not take nothing out of that old go nowhere. Okay, please sir. I I got to go get my baby from school. Okay. >> I didn't take nothing. I take I live in Worth, Illinois. I didn't take nothing out of no old neighbor. >> Okay. What you doing? >> I came to see my auntie. >> Okay. >> Don't be walking away from me. Okay. >> I'm sorry. I didn't do nothing. >> Okay. So, if I stop moving to be >> those items in a car ain't going to be sold. >> No, sir. I brought me up. I got >> We're not moving. We need to stop. We got to go with the cops. >> No, please don't put me on. >> THEN CHILL OUT. >> OKAY, SIR. BUT I DIDN'T TAKE NOTHING FROM the owner. Please. I'm trying to get home. >> I'll give you the name in a second. We got somebody. >> Please. I didn't I didn't take nothing from >> You're going to sit down on that rail. Okay. Are you going to go in handcuffs? >> STOP. >> PLEASE Y'ALL please stop. Stop. >> Please. PLEASE. LISTEN. Now listen. We're going to go in cuffs. Okay. I can't hear you walk back there. Okay. I don't want you getting hit. You want to get to your kid? >> Her behavior escalated the situation, further confirming that she was afraid of something. Moments later, she even acted in a strangely reckless manner. >> Guys, I got to go crazy. >> Don't Don't do nothing. Just don't DO NOTHING. GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> GET OUT THE CAR. >> STOP. for fighting with the army. >> Got it. >> CALM DOWN. >> HEY. HEY. HEY. CALM DOWN. CALM DOWN. >> Calm down. JUST TAKE A BREATH. HEY, GET YOUR HAND BEHIND your back. Get your hand behind your back. >> Get her cuffs. >> Hold all that emergency traffic at this time. All units on channel 3. Hold. We're good. Get on the ground. >> You got one. He's caught on a jacket. >> GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. Get on the ground. >> Put your hands behind YOUR BACK. HEY. >> NO. I GOT A CAR. >> PUT YOUR HAND BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> HEY, STOP RESISTING. >> Put your hands behind your back. It's >> not coming off. Calm down. [laughter] I didn't say nothing. >> All right. Get her up. Get up. Get up. After the driver was arrested, the female passenger couldn't escape the consequences either as officers decided to detain her as well. >> All right. Put your phone on. Thank you, >> sir. I didn't do what you put >> right there. Put your phone right there. I didn't >> Put your phone right there. I didn't do anything. >> Put your phone right there. >> I didn't do nothing. I literally I'm >> Okay, this is what's going to happen. I'm going to put you in handcuffs, okay? Cuz we're investigating a retail thing. All right. Sir, >> don't do what your friend just did. >> I'm not That's my sister, sir. I I didn't do it. >> All right. That ain't too tight, is it? >> No. >> All right. I'm going to lock it so I don't tighten up on you. Okay. >> Okay. >> Take a step back to the back of the car. >> Sir, can you please grab my phone? >> Yeah. >> Let me lock it so it don't tighten up on you. Anybody else? >> So, I'm going to tell you what's going on. Okay. >> I'm going to move my car. >> We stopped you guys for a traffic violation. We were sitting outside the whole Navy. Okay. You guys walked out >> and you guys it appeared to be concealing items. Okay. >> I didn't I didn't have anything. >> Okay. Is there going to be stuff in the car that's not paid for? >> This This is not my cool. >> This is not my vehicle. Sir, I don't have anything. >> Alink 3, can you roll us a hook here? You got your body cam? >> No, mine's broken. It's right there. >> Contrary to the driver's earlier denials, what officers found in the other woman's coat pocket brought everything to light. >> Yes, pocket. >> No, my purse, sir. >> What's this? It's in my purse. My kind of purse is >> um a YSL bag. >> Hey, is this what it looks like? Uh, yes it is. >> Okay. >> You got a cage car with you? >> Yeah, I got a cage. Okay. I >> think they just they just stole from Old Dave, I think. >> No. [screaming] I'm going to head back. Okay. Yeah, take her. Okay. What am I being arrested for? >> You'll find out. >> Huh? >> We'll head back to Old Navy. >> Both women were taken to the police station shortly afterward, where the suspected charges against the driver were finally revealed. Yet, strangely, she acted as if she had no idea what they were. So right now I got you on retail theft felony amount cuz over 300m retail. >> Yeah. Old lady said it's about 500 bucks that they lost. >> Hell no. >> Also um you got a warrant OUT OF KOSHA. >> NO >> FULL EXTRAITION. OKAY. >> NO. Full extradition. >> Like they got to come down from Kosha and pick you up. Okay. So we got to do a little bit of paperwork. I got to take a picture fingerprints. give you your charges and then we're gonna see you and tell you she'll probably come down tomorrow. >> Okay. >> So, y'all what y'all charge my sister with? >> Uh, right now retail theft. She also had that tool on her burglary tool. >> Did they charge us with burgundy? >> Maybe. I don't know. It's up to the signature. >> Well, cuz the amount that was stolen this new page count around here. This what I'm trying to see like how the did we ain't NOBODY TOOK NO $500 WORTH OF STUFF. >> That's what old Navy told us. We had somebody there that went and spoke to the >> manager. No. Kiier Love Taylor was charged with resisting an officer, driving while license suspended, burglary, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, obstructing identification, disobeying a traffic control signal, driving [music] with expired license plates, retail theft exceeding $300, and retail theft exceeding $300 with a prior conviction. Tanisha Love was charged with retail theft exceeding $300. Criminal cases are built on evidence, not assumptions. Even when charges are delayed, persistent investigation and stronger evidence can ultimately [music] hold offenders accountable. Next, this woman also failed in her attempt to flee from Walmart >> right now. >> I didn't do nothing. >> Yeah, get out. It >> has nothing to do with you. >> Get out. >> Don't Don't rush me up. I'm the only one. I'm the only one getting >> I don't know anything about anything else. On the 3rd of June 2024, police stopped a man and a woman as they were trying to push a TV out of the store that was believed to have not been paid for. However, when they were approached, they already had excuses prepared for themselves. >> No, I need to see receipt receipt. I got an online receipt. That's not online receipt. That's not online. That's online receipt. That's not online. That's fancy. That's supposed to have serial number on there. Where the serum on? >> That's what they said. That's what my mom said. >> That's not That's not an online receipt. So, we'll do two things. We going to pay for it or we going to take this or you guys going to come with us. That's not an online receipt. Our receipts don't look like that. >> That's That's what she sent to me. >> That's not an online receipt. I'm telling you. So, unless you want to get in trouble, that's not an online receipt. That's what you >> I don't care what they sent you, but it's not your I'm not You walked out with it. You have an ID. >> Do you have an ID? >> I don't have no ID, >> bro. >> How did you guys drive here? >> No, I just got My aunt dropped me off. She said she going to pick me up the TV. She sent me this receipt online. >> First off, you got an online TV. You pick it up from over there. >> I pick it up from right there. >> No, you don't you don't pick it up from back there online. While the man tried to deny any wrongdoing, the woman ended up admitting it, but not with her words. Instead, her sudden actions revealed far more than any confession could. body with a pink sweater family towards the apartment on the other side of the clear. We're over on this side. Oh, right here. Right here. Right here. Right here. >> Like an athlete, she ran as fast as she could, but she never escaped the police. Even more surprisingly, she began playing innocent with a new trick. >> Get out right now. >> I didn't do nothing. >> Yeah. Get out. >> Has nothing to do with this. >> Get out. >> Don't Don't rush me up. I get down. I will get down. >> Put your hand behind your back. Do it now. >> I will get down. My phone. My phone, man. I didn't Well, I don't got no numbers in my phone. NO. THE THEMM FOLKS. I DIDN'T HAVE nothing to do with that. >> I just walked in the store with them and they told me to hold the car. >> Stand up. >> I didn't. >> Why you doing all that running? >> Because I have kids. >> Well, that's your fault. I didn't know they had none of that going on. >> I'm a runner real quick. >> Please, please. >> Hey, you want to car? >> Yeah, that's fine. >> I'm mad, miss. >> Well, now you definitely going to jail. >> No, please. I DIDN'T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THAT. >> You want to check her real quick? >> No, please. Let me get my >> Please. I didn't >> chill out. Bro, I DIDN'T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS. >> You said cuz you was running. >> NO, I JUST BRO, I KNEW YOU SAID I was going to get locked up. >> You said that I pushed it out. He homie told me to hold the car. I got scared. Please understand. >> She even tried to change her appearance by taking off some of her clothes and shifted the blame onto the man. None of it worked as the store's loss prevention team clearly established her involvement in the theft. When I was bringing that other TV back in, I saw him coming with another TV cuz he was with them and I said, "Let me see your receipt." He showed me the same picture the other guy tried to see. >> Oh, they're trying to see him. We got >> All right. We got her dumb ass jumped over the [laughter] the wood line behind the Oliver. I'm like, "You ain't got nowhere to go." I'm like, "You hear the sirens? You might run for me, but the radio you ain't going to run the radio." >> There is some real cuz one >> How much was that TV? >> Well, it's two of them, so they 428 a piece. >> Oh, perfect. They basically working together. >> So, but he took off though. >> Yeah, he took off. He He went He pretty much went on foot and went down that way. >> Which one? >> The one he was on foot. >> Hold on. You said which one with the red shorts. Where he go? >> Downstairs. I don't know where he went. >> The one the black the one him that I stopped. >> Yeah. >> He went out and walked down this way. >> Okay. It's all right. I'll take her. I mean, I can only charge her for one TV though cuz she only came out with one. >> That's fine. Yeah. >> How much is the the single TV? Oh, was it 428? >> Back with the female suspect, she showed no concern for her crime or the consequences of running away. What she cared about instead was her own selfishness over being the only one arrested. >> I'm the only one handc right now. >> Huh? >> Sasha, I didn't. Please don't pick on me. >> Just calm down. I know you're upset. I understand that, but just give a second. Okay, sit back. Why you so Why did you Why are you so wet? Did you fall in the water? >> Just sit back. >> I don't know. >> Just sit back. >> We have an ambulance coming, so sit back. >> We have an ambulance coming. So, just sit back and watch. >> I'm the only one. >> I'm the only one getting >> I don't know anything about anything else. Okay. >> But I do know that you need to sit back. >> Okay. I'm just trying to catch some air. >> I got plenty of air coming. You look right there. See that vent? Those vents are coming. >> Put your feet in. We'll close the door. The windows stay down. You're fine. I can hear you. >> During the ride to the police station, officers also discovered that this was not the woman's first offense. >> Yeah. Two misdemeanors. You said you've been arrested in the past. >> Yes. >> For what? >> Um, >> same thing. Obstruction. >> Obstruction. Like just running. >> Yeah. When you resist arrest pretty much. >> Yeah. I um then I got um domestic violence. >> I know. It's been a similar situation like this when I was in like a um she a 16 year like 14 year old. She said she was around my age when I was 19. >> Mhm. and she went to Walmart and she start uh stealing in there and I didn't know anything about it and I went out and I walked out with her just by me walking out her head too. >> Are you on probation? >> No, because she's underage. >> Are you on probation? >> No. >> I just I don't understand why you ran. I mean, you you make >> I went in there to give me some drugs. >> Okay, but you make you make it worse by running. >> What was even more telling was that the woman showed no real recognition of her wrongdoing. Even after she had calmed [music] down, she continued to arrogantly avoid taking responsibility for her earlier attempt to flee. >> You guys think about it as a when a criminal a criminal is the one that always when the white dude called me, he put me on the ground, smash my face in the ground, all type of >> Well, if you run I said I would get on the ground, bro. No, you don't got to rough me up cuz I really sp out this, bro. For real. That ass you not going to kill me out this get on the ground myself. Just cuz I ran. You done caught me now. I'm tired. >> No, you can kill me like that. The officers out here killing people, bro. That's why I get scared. >> Nobody trying to hear no black person. >> It's like I was I was sitting there trying my pleing my case. Like I I don't know nothing. I don't know about this. >> When you said this is not killing me, right? What are the reasons? What are the reasons? Cuz people aren't following simple commands. People are running. People are pulling weapons when they're not supposed to. And when you're running, you got to think about it. You just ran from us, right? I don't know if you got a gun or a knife, >> right? >> You get what I'm saying? So that's what you got to look at. I'm going to bring you down to the ground as soon as I can so that I can safely put cuffs on you and make the scene safe for me and you. >> She was charged with theft by shoplifting and obstruction. Running away and refusing to take responsibility often creates even bigger legal problems than the original offense. Accepting accountability early can make a difficult situation far easier to resolve than trying to escape it. Next, this woman attempted to outsmart Walmart's surveillance system. >> Did you come from Walmart? >> No, it's already >> No. >> No. >> I think you're looking for the wrong person. >> I'm looking for the wrong person. >> That's her right there getting stuff from around that deal, >> which I assume is most of what's in their bag. On the 25th of March 2023, officers received a call from Walmart reporting that a woman had shoplifted and fled the store. They located her at a nearby Murphy store, but she [music] appeared completely calm, as if she had already prepared herself to face the officers. >> Hi, how you doing? >> Let me talk to you. >> Let me talk to you. >> Come over here. >> You come over here. I'm talking to you. >> What are you talking to me about? >> You just go over there, sir. Let me talk to you. Don't make this any harder than it has to be. Come on. Where's your purse at? >> I don't have a purse. >> You didn't bring a purse? >> No, sir. >> Did you come from Walmart? >> No, sir. I didn't. >> No. >> No. >> I think you're looking for the wrong person. >> I'm looking for the wrong person. >> Yes. >> Can you stop over here for me? >> Hey, where you going? >> What's up? What's going on? >> Okay. Well, yeah. Uh you you're matching the description that uh you shoplifted at at Walmart. >> What was the I don't have nothing on me. Blonde hair, black shirt, white emblem on your shirt. >> My hair is literally short. >> I I said blonde hair. >> Oh, you said long hair. >> No, I said black. >> No, that's not me. >> That's not you. Okay. >> I didn't come from Walmart. >> Okay, we'll just make sure then. >> Okay. >> She completely denied every suspicion directed at her, but her demeanor was clearly forced. She even began trying to steer the officer's attention elsewhere instead of keeping the focus on herself. >> We're not going to hurry. What was your name? >> You're you're on my time now. >> Maybe you're looking for the wrong person. I'm not the person. Yeah. >> Okay. I mean, like I said, we're going to try to see and then if you're the wrong person, then you can leave. But I mean, you're matching the description. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> You should be in the parking lot over there. That's where that that happened. Not over here. >> As the officer remained persistent, she eventually accepted being placed in handcuffs. Shortly afterward, a Murphy's employee voluntarily pointed out several suspicious details, [music] suggesting she had discarded the stolen merchandise nearby. >> I don't know what this person doing. >> Oh, there. >> Look at that. >> Well, we got a straight shot camera right above that head that'll show you that she put it there. >> This camera's right here to show that camera hit. Look, this camera hits I can see it on the camera standing at my register. That's why I came out as I had seen her drop something. >> Do you have your purse? And she told you no. So, I told her, I said, "There's a purse right there. I'm going to go make sure he knows." You know what I mean? >> Uh, I'm going to go look at those cameras, record that, and then I'll probably come back so I can look at your cameras. Okay. >> All right. >> All right. Thank you. And that's not your purse? The one that was right next to you? >> Excuse me? >> That wasn't your purse? >> How do you know it was my purse? Did you go through it? Did you search it? >> I didn't search it. But >> you have a search for it? >> I don't need a search warrant for that. >> No, I don't. >> Don't laugh at me, mother. I'm not laughing. >> What's so funny then? >> What's so funny is that you're >> doing a while ago. What's funny? I want to know what's funny. >> I'm telling you. Are you going to let me talk? >> Okay. There's her purse right next to you. And you're saying it's not your purse. There's a camera right above you. >> I didn't say that was in my purse, did I? >> Oh my lord. >> I say that. >> Okay. >> All right. Well, we'll find out here in a bit. >> You just made it all worse. Cuz I could have just given you a ticket. You would have been on your way. >> A ticket for what? >> For shoplifting. >> How do you know I shoplifted? >> I already told you. >> Did you see me like leave with that stuff? >> The guy that works here? Yes. >> Put that in my purse? >> The guy that works here? Yes. >> Did you see me put that in my purse? >> Okay, I guess we'll find >> you. Did you? Yes or no? >> I'm about to. >> You physically saw me put that in my purse. >> I'm about to look. >> You saw me put that in my purse, though. How do you know I didn't pay for that already or it wasn't given to me? >> Okay, well, give me like >> Her explanation about the purse kept changing, making everything even more suspicious. Even after being taken back to Walmart, she refused to get out of the patrol car, only making the situation more tense. >> You good now? >> Yes, I will. I'm sorry. >> All right. Are we going to start admitting stuff? >> Nothing. >> Come on. >> I didn't feel nothing. It was a gift. >> Okay. Well, we're going to go talk to this guy then. >> I don't want to see that guy. He He scares me. >> He scares you. >> He scares me. >> Come on, girl. He He He football tack He football tackled me. >> He tackled you. >> He wanted to. >> Please don't [clears throat] make me go in there. Like >> No, I'm not going to go in there. >> Why don't you want to go in there? >> He scares me. He scares me. He does. >> Who? Who? Who scares you? >> That guy. >> All right, let me go see what I >> Okay, thank you. I appreciate you and I will try. Claiming to be afraid of the loss prevention employee, she refused to get out of the patrol car. Fully embracing the role of a victim, she then came up with another excuse by blaming someone else. >> Scared. >> Why? >> I mean, something I didn't do. >> You're still saying that? >> I didn't. My friend gave it to me. I swear. She told me to hold that for her. >> Where's your friend at? >> I think she set me up cuz she left. Yeah, I >> just You already know why you >> I know. Well, I know. I know. >> You already know. Like, I'm just >> I'm very embarrassed. >> All right. What's your name? >> Um, why am I banned? >> You're trespassing here. >> Okay. It will be E L L I Y H. >> Her story quickly fell apart after the loss prevention team provided surveillance footage showing that she had acted alone in the theft. That's her right there getting stuff from around that deal, >> which I assume is most of what's in their bag. And right here, she's >> All righty. And then what's the what's the total on this puppy? >> 30. >> Subtotal only 31.97. >> Okay, gotcha. >> We don't get the tax. >> All righty. You good? No. >> You dying on me? >> It's hot in here. I've been dying for a long time. All right. So, we're going to start saying the truth or we just going to keep lying. >> About what? >> About the shoplifting. I'm telling you, if you don't tell me the truth, I'm going to take you to jail. >> The truth. I said everything that in that bag is yours. Is there? >> Everything? >> Yes. >> I thought it was just the the little bag. >> In the little bag here? >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. So, you took that, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, I'm going to give you a ticket. >> Okay. >> All right. Next time, let's try not to like do all this. Oh, why are you stopping me and doing all that? cuz we're just wasting our time. >> Talk to me. I never >> No, no, no. I'm saying like stopping. >> Oh, okay. >> You know, like doing the whole We'll check the cameras and all that because we can. >> I'm giving you a hard time. >> Oh, yeah. I know. >> Nobody has to give you a hard time throughout your day, right? I'm not >> I've had that. I've had that all day. >> I'm that person today. Nobody's giving you a hard time but me, I'm sure. >> All right. >> I'm sorry. >> All right. Let me just write down the ticket and then uh I'll let you get out of here. And then you're also trespassing here. Okay. So, you can't >> So, I can never come back. >> You can't come back. >> What about the other Walmart? What if I have to grocery shop >> or pick up some groceries? >> So, from what I know, it's this one. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> You can't come back to this one. >> Okay. All right. >> I don't want to come back anyways. That guy scares me. >> All right. So, what kind of music you like? Cuz we're going to be here for like 20 minutes. >> Whatever you like. >> I'm Mexican. >> I'm Mexican. >> All right, then. We're going to put some freaking Mexican music. >> Do you have an ID with you? >> No, sir. I don't. Okay. >> Why? >> Because that just makes it longer. Now I have to type everything. What do you mean? >> Well, I have to type your name and all that stuff. >> Get it. I'll get it for you. >> Where is it at? >> Why? >> So you can call someone. >> In the end, the woman was issued a non-traffic citation for shoplifting and was trespassed from Walmart property. This case shows how changing stories and shifting blame can make a situation worse. Honesty and taking responsibility are often the best choices when evidence is already available because attempts to avoid the truth can lead to more suspicion. Before we move on to the next shoplifting case, let's take a look at this astonishing case. >> You said nothing illegal in the car? >> No. >> Ask everybody. Uh methamphetamine? >> No. Nothing. Do you have kids? >> Uh you're facing some serious felonies tonight. um possession of a narcotic drug for sale. >> On the 23rd of May 2022, police stopped a vehicle for speeding. But after approaching the car, they appeared to discover far more than just a traffic violation. Here's what happened next. >> Got a full house in here. >> Yeah. >> I'm Officer Shground Police Department. >> Hey, the reason I stopped you going a little fast. You know what speed limit is here? >> 75. >> Yeah, I got you going patient about 80. Okay. >> Oh, okay. I'm sorry. >> All right. Uh, do you got your license, registration, insurance? >> License. >> What's this? >> That's okay. Who's the vehicle belong to? It's yours. >> So, so I was driving cuz she got tired. >> You don't even have a driver's license. You can't even be driving. >> I know. It's cuz she got tired. I didn't want to, you know. >> You just not have a license or is it suspended? >> I suspend it. >> You want to suspend it for >> uh for DUI. >> For DUI? >> That's not good. You know, that's criminal, right? >> I know. I'm sorry. >> Yeah. She got tired. I didn't want to drag. But >> when were you uh When was the DUI in December? >> December. not not that long ago. >> As soon as the driver stepped out of the vehicle, the officer immediately began asking about the purpose of their trip. Given the condition of the vehicle, it was clear that driving such a long distance was extremely risky. >> Where are you guys coming from now? >> We were in Ngalas, Arizona. >> Okay. >> For what? >> We're visiting my family. >> Oh, yeah. Your family. >> And her um my friend's daughter, her dad is in Mexico, so she went to take him to go see him. Okay. >> He was deported like a I think like a few weeks ago. >> So, were you visiting visiting family or were you visiting? >> Yeah, visiting family. >> Your family? >> No, her family. >> Well, so her daughter her her her dad is in Mexico. We went to go visit him and he's my cousin. >> Oh, he's your cousin? >> Yeah. >> When did you guys go down? >> Uh Saturday. >> Saturday. >> How long did you guys stay down there for? >> Just till 8. Who's all in the car now? >> It's just me, my friend, her daughter, and her niece. >> So, she got tired and that's where you're driving. >> Started driving. >> So, >> I know I said 223. >> What's the name of uh He said it's her >> husband or boyfriend. >> What's his name? Luis Lopez. >> You guys were down. You got down on Saturday. You stayed for two. Where are you guys heading now? >> What was that? >> Where you heading now? >> Back home to Mesa. >> Mesa. You said nothing illegal in the car? >> No. >> Ask everybody uh methamphetamine. >> No, nothing. Do you have kids? >> The officers asked whether there were any illegal drugs in the vehicle because the area they had traveled to was well known for drug trafficking, just as they suspected. After removing the two women and the other passengers from the SUV, they discovered a handgun along with several bottles of collagen supplements. That alone might not have seemed unusual except the bottles were hiding nearly half a million fentinyl pills inside. At that point, both women were taken to the police station for questioning. >> Best thing for you is is to be honest with me. Okay. So, let's let's start kind of from the beginning, how we got to this point and and where we're going. Okay. Um it's a ton of fentanyl. Okay. And it's very serious. Obviously, you know that fentanyl is dangerous, right? >> Yes. Yes. >> It's the number one threat to our country right now. People are dying every day out of it. and you're facilitating it by bringing it into this country. Okay. Um let's talk about kind of how we got to this point. So you said you went down Yeah. I mean I don't I don't really know anything. We just went down. Um we're there for 2 days and I mean I don't I don't know where I would even be in. >> Okay. Well, your luggage is in the car, right? >> Yes. >> Right. There's a two briefcase, two suitcases in the back. Okay. So, you guys went down and you came back and there's property in the car that wasn't there when you guys came down, right? [clears throat] Okay. So, obviously you'd have some questions. Why is there a bunch of property in the car? Right. >> Okay. So, what did you where did that come from? >> I don't know. >> You have no clue where that came from? >> No idea. >> Okay. So, what did you think it was? >> Well, I thought it was collagen pills. I I mean, I don't know. I didn't know that there was anything else in there. >> The woman driving the vehicle denied having any knowledge of what was related to the case, but surprisingly the other woman did the same, denying everything as well. >> Well, we were asked like if you could bring them, but I did not know what was in there. >> Okay. So, someone asked you to bring them and who asked you to bring them? >> A family member of hers, but I have no clue. >> A family member of yours? >> No. No. Of hers? >> Of hers? Yeah. >> Okay. Uh, so you have no clue what family member. Okay. Boy, girl, >> no. But we just like we were just chilling at the house and >> All right. Let me start over a little bit with your story. Okay. I know that you guys didn't go down on Sunday. Okay. Because there's what we have called the LPR readers, right? And at the border, I just looked at it and you guys came down yesterday. Okay. So, don't start the conversation off lying to me because once you lie, it tells me that you know more than something obviously like how can I trust you for the rest of this conversation if you're not going to be honest with me, right? >> The officers tried to persuade the woman to tell the truth. Shortly afterward, she gave her version of the story, but notably, it was different from what the driver had said earlier. >> Please, please, please be honest with me. Okay. >> All right. So, I'll ask you again. So, you went down yesterday. Mhm. >> Where did you guys go once you crossed the border? >> We went to a hotel. >> Okay. What hotel? >> Um, City Express. >> City Express. And that was in Noalis. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, you guys knew you were there to pick something up, correct? Right. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what was the understanding when you got there? Like, take me through it. What What happened when you got there? Well, they sent her an address to pick up um something and that's why we hit it over there. And >> was that today? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, they sent you they sent her an address on her phone. >> Yeah. >> And then you got a And that's when you That's where you guys went to go pick up pick it up. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And that was So, you spent the night in Ogalas at the City Express. You woke up. What time did you guys pick up those items? I want to say it was like around 100 p.m. >> 1:00 p.m. Okay. From the after picking him up, you guys came Where'd you guys go from there? >> Straight here. >> Straight here. Okay. So, you had to have had pretty good knowledge that um what you guys were taking back was not something that wasn't collagen pills, right? They just said it was like a big amount of like medication and that we couldn't like report like you know report it online cuz we were going to get like tax. >> You can't you guys can't claim all this like medication because they're going to want to charge you guys taxes for it. And so we're like oh okay >> that's what my understanding was. >> Okay. So, you guys go down there. >> The truth finally began to come out. It was clear they knew what was in the vehicle, which was why they had lied about the purpose of their trip. The officers pointed that out as well. >> Well, you guys didn't go down to visit family. Obviously, that was a lie, right? Be honest. It was a lie, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You went down with the uh intentions of >> picking a product. >> I did not know what it was. But you knew you were picking something up, right? So your friend, she says, "Hey, take like how did you guys What was the conversation like? What' she say? What made you guys come down yesterday?" Cuz we know it wasn't to visit family. So what did she tell you >> that um if I was like going to like to pick up something? And I was like, "What kind of things?" And she's like, "Oh, it's like medication." >> Okay. >> And then you said yes. >> Yeah. And then when you saw these things being loaded in your vehicle, you had some current concerns. You told me that it may be something illegal or may not be something illegal. >> Don't you think that would have been a good time to pull out of it to say no? >> I wasn't sure like what to do. >> Here's the deal. Um I've been doing this a long time. Um, and they they may have said, "Hey, just tell if you get caught, tell them this is the story that with taxes, whatever." You knew what you were doing. >> Yes. >> You knew what you were doing. >> To be honest, I did not know. >> Okay. >> Um, the >> Well, you you told me you had concern that it could be something illegal on the car. >> So, you had to have some sort of knowledge that what you were doing was wrong. >> Yeah. It was like something was not right. >> Yes. Both women were charged with possession, transportation, and importation of narcotic drugs for sale, weapons misconduct, and child endangerment. They later accepted plea deals and were each sentenced to 3 years in prison. Ignoring obvious warning signs and choosing to not ask questions does not erase responsibility. When people knowingly go along with suspicious activity and then lie to investigators, the consequences can be far more severe than they ever expected. Worse still, this woman ended up behind bars simply because her [music] order didn't turn out the way she wanted. >> THEY SAID SHE HANDS UP. HANDS UP. >> Can you tell the girls inside to come play my favorite song, please? I'm I'm stressed. On the 5th of May 2026, [music] officers responded to a Wendy's after a woman allegedly caused a disturbance and threatened employees with a firearm because she was unhappy with her order. When they arrived, the situation remained highly tense. >> Right here, right here. >> She has a gun. >> Don't move. Do noting move. Let me see both your [ __ ] hands right now. Let me see both your hands now. I don't see a gun at this time. >> Don't reach. >> Watch crossfire. Put the window down. >> PUT THE WINDOW DOWN. >> Put the Put your hands up. Put the window down. >> Put your hands >> Put the window DOWN. GO. >> PUT THE WINDOW DOWN. >> LOCK THE DOOR. >> PUT THE WINDOW DOWN. >> Put the window down. >> Keep the air clear. One at gunpoint. >> Put the window down. >> Put I got a window breaker. Holders on point. >> Put the window. Put the window down. >> Put the window down. >> HANDS UP. HANDS UP. >> OKAY. OKAY. GET OUT OF THE CAR. GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> HELP. >> Y'all hurting me. >> Well, listen. I'm pregnant. >> Tell your body about it. Right. >> I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant. Please. >> After the woman was handcuffed, she still showed no sign of acknowledging her wrongdoing. Instead, she began invoking [music] her rights as a citizen, causing the situation to escalate even further. >> Don't touch my car unless you have a warrant. >> Close my door now. >> HOLD ON. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT. PLEASE. My elbow. I don't know yet. Just Just leave me right here for a second. I need to think. Can you tell the girls inside to come play my favorite song, please? I'm I'm stressed. >> I got a lot of stress going on. >> Oh my god. Do not take nothing of mine out my mother car if you don't have a mother warrant and everybody's mothering better had the up. >> I'ming pregnant and you guys are doing this to me. >> I need some water. >> I need some water. I need some water. >> I'm pregnant and I have court May 11th for my son. And you guys are doing this to me. What's wrong with you guys? >> This is Stop. This is Stop. She seemed to be seeking sympathy by talking about the pressures in her life, but in reality, it only made the officer's job more difficult. Moments later, she acted completely normal again and even behaved as though she had the authority to give orders to the police. >> Uh, if I have my shoes, >> where your shoes at? >> Um, I was trying to put it in there before you My favorite are Crocs. Black like I like it. when you guys run out of stage. >> Can y'all look to make sure that don't touch in my car either cuz I'm going to remember everything. >> And it's being recorded. >> I recorded it. So, multiple cameras, different ways, different angles. So, make sure that everybody'sing story has up. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Seven of y'all. How where's the rest? State shop badge number and everything else. Um, are we waiting for EMS or what are we doing? >> Yeah, what are we doing? >> EMS. >> Yeah. Okay. >> What are we doing?
