And he said he was looking for a gold bracelet for his mom and his dad tomorrow. So I proceeded to show him where we have their bracelets and then he said no, nothing like that. And he showed me his necklace. He has one. He was like, "Something more like this." I said, "I can check in the back and see what we have." And that's when he came up to the counter then and we needed it for today. >> He needed it for today. Well, tomorrow, but >> So, then she went to the back, grabbed a black roll that they have a bunch of other additional jewelry in, set that out. They started showing him pieces he's picking up or she's picking up. They're both picking up. >> He was he was like taking taking the things off and like >> and right where I sent you the picture, there's two two necklaces in his hand. He drops one into his palm. He holds it there and then he tr later transfers it to his other hand and then eventually puts it in his left front pocket. >> Strangely, despite searching for the stolen items, officers could not find anything at first. It turned out everything had been hidden inside the toys belonging to the other family members. >> Oh, look at there. >> Oh, that's a lot of money. Oh, this is jewelry. >> It is all hidden inside. >> I've got jewelry, diamonds, thousands of dollars, several thousand. >> Just Just let us make sure of a couple things first and then we'll let you guys be back together. Okay. Just be patient for us. I saw that. >> Oh, there you go. >> And that's You >> see that stuff? >> Yeah, I saw that. >> Where did that from? >> Right here. That's That's >> We're going to take that. >> Oh, cell phone back seat back here. It looked like a mobile treasure vault carried by the least suspicious members of the family, raising the question of whether this had all been a calculated [music] plan by the parents as officers questioned the mother about the presence of the valuables. Her response immediately drew even more attention. >> My first question is where where did you get the jewelry from? Like the necklace, the earrings. >> There's a old one. >> Old one. What about what about the necklace? >> This is old one. Old >> my Where did you get it from? >> From New York. >> From New York. >> Okay. >> Old one. These >> are old. Okay. What about the bracelet? Those are like Pandora bracelets, aren't they? >> Okay. Where'd you get those at? This one is old one as well. >> Okay. >> Okay. How long ago did you get that one? I know you said it's old, but >> No. >> Like >> 11 months. >> 11 months. >> Okay. Do you have anything in your purse at all? Do you mind if I take a quick look and Okay. >> Yeah. Perfect. I didn't want to pull down on you while we're doing that. >> That one's ticking. >> Well, this one's The hands are all broken off. And this thing here is super light. >> I mean, if it's real, it's >> This one's definitely real. >> So, this is the one I was taking. >> We're taking these. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. See, that's got the emblem on the back, too. >> The man, who was believed to already have outstanding warrants, was taken to the police station for further investigation by detectives there. He could no longer deny the evidence against him. Yet, he still refused to admit [music] to any of his actions. >> Well, I'm going to let you know that was you stealing it. We know it's you stealing it. Okay. How about the bracelets that were on your wife? >> They're like gold bracelets that she had on. >> No comment. Okay. Am I just wasting my time sitting here or you is everything just going to be no comment? >> No comment. >> Okay. Cool. The man was charged with grand theft along with multiple felony warrants from different states tied to previous theft cases. Many thieves believe staying silent and refusing to confess can save them from the consequences. But when the evidence is already piled up in front of them, the truth will eventually force them to pay the price. >> Get out of the vehicle. >> You know what they're coming out. Wait, I'm coming out. >> Go on the ground. >> Shut up. Shut up because you nearly killed me. I need you to shut the up. I don't know why you're on. >> On the 28th of October 2025, police were dispatched to a rental parking lot at the airport after receiving reports of a woman attempting to steal a vehicle there after she had previously crashed into another vehicle. Be advised, this is going to be the Bravo Fox shot from this morning with the mother. >> And I gave them my ID and they they went open the gates, but they stole my vehicle. And I told this is my vehicle. >> Level two. Yeah. We're going to stand up on three. Ready? 1 2 3. >> So what what what's going on? How come you hit multiple cars? >> They're running to me, sir. >> Well, then why is the damage at the front of the car and nowhere else? >> Because they didn't open the gate. She asked me. She run into me. She said she don't she don't want to open the gate. >> Instead of admitting what she had done, she claimed that multiple vehicles accidentally drove into her. One of the victims then revealed what had actually happened. >> I was coming for my break. >> Two agents called me and said, "You need to call the police. She's trying to get out. I'm rushing. I have cameras. Cameras in every corner. >> Get out of >> Hey, listen. Relax. >> I drove this way. I didn't even know this was her. I'm driving. She so fast. Puts reverse. Slams into my car. Goes forth. slams into my car again. I get out of my car and I'm slamming on her car to get out because I'm like, she's going to hit someone. I have customers walking everywhere. She drives around that way, comes this way, reverse like she's trying to leave. >> Is that Is that your vehicle? >> My Bronco. She slides into all the way. >> Oh, is your Bronco >> I have to look at the camera. I was I was >> You run into me. You run into >> Shut up. Shut up because you nearly killed me. I need you to shut the up. I don't know what you're on. >> Relax. No problem. >> Relax. Relax. Who Who was in this car? >> A customer. >> You know where they went? >> Uh, she's over there. I just had her move for safety reason. >> You were in the booth? >> No, I had another customer. Be Daniel, I just Can you come to be? I don't um Ditra, one of my agents, was in here and I had two other agents here. >> Okay. >> But I just moved everyone because she was >> Yeah. So, do you know exactly how many cars were hit? >> My car. Um, >> your personal car. It's It's personal like I drive it, but she hit two other cars over there. >> I have camera footage. >> So, at least three cars. >> At least three cars. >> From the victim's voice, it was clear how shocked she was by the crash. Meanwhile, officers also investigated another crime as the vehicle the woman was sitting in was believed to have been stolen. >> She had no permission to enter the vehicle. >> I just got >> I would really like to look at the camera. >> My keys open. My own keys open. Okay. >> The vehicle. >> This is your car. You flew into here. I dealt with you this morning. This is not your car. >> Where did she hit you at? Are you injured? >> No. No. No. Hit me like I was in the car. I'm fine. She just slammed into me. >> Were any of the other vehicles occupied that she hit? >> No. >> The one and she didn't slam into them. She was reversing. You'll see it on the camera when she was reversing. She just like slides past them. >> Oh, okay. Gotcha. >> Hold on. Let's see it. >> There it is. See, she just >> She just hit the out of me. >> What did she do after that? >> So, I'm trying to move and then she hits me again in that corner when I move forward. Oh, that's another witness over there. She saw her burst into you. >> Yeah, that was her. >> She was driving behind. >> That's me trying to run after her to try to get her out of the car. >> Am I going to jail or what? I want to go to jail. >> You want to go to jail? >> Yeah, because they say I stole the car. They don't want to steal my car. Why do you want to go to jail? >> Let me go because there are many handcuffs. So, let's go. >> Her attitude showed no sign of remorse at all. Even when officers gave her a chance to explain herself, she still tried to avoid responsibility. >> I just want to >> Can you tell me what happened? >> Can you take these handcuffs off? >> No, we cannot take those handcuffs off. Can you tell me what happened? >> Because >> How did you get into that vehicle? >> I had my keys for the vehicle. >> You had the keys of the vehicle? >> My keys? >> Your keys? Okay. And then did you hit the barriers? >> Yeah, because I asked the girl to open it and she slammed it. She didn't really open it. >> How did you get in this parking garage to get to your car? >> The entrance? >> The entrance? >> Yeah. >> And then how did you find the keys to your car? >> I had it in my purse. I always carry around my keys wherever I'm going. >> Okay. And then what happened after that? >> After that, I they asked me to see my ID. I tell them it's my vehicle. >> Wait, you just got in your car and all of a sudden people showed up at your car? >> Yeah, they started telling me, "Can I see your ID?" >> So, did you drive out of the parking spot that I was at? >> Yeah. One girl asked me to see their ID. >> Where did you drive to after that? >> I didn't drive anywhere. I just drive around the parking lot. >> So, so you did drive around the park. >> They didn't want me to get out. They was blocking me from getting out. >> Okay. >> They all started centering me. Okay. >> So, what did you do after you hit the barriers? I drove around the parking lot trying to get out. >> Okay. >> And then one the same girl who made the complaint about me, she ran into the back of the vehicle. She drove up behind me and run into the back of the vehicle. >> You were in front of her? >> She drove up past behind me and run into >> She ran into you. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, she ran into you over there. You sure you didn't hit her? >> She ran into that. She said she's calling the police and then I >> And then you called the police. >> I called the police too. >> Okay. So you were you still in the car? >> Yes. >> Okay. What happened after that? >> When I stopped the truck in front by the the exit and then >> she came up to the car, open up the doors, come out of the vehicle, the police came and took me out of the vehicle and arrested. In the end, the woman was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, criminal mischief, and reckless driving. She was also banned from returning to the airport for 99 years. Mistakes and lies only made her situation worse. Taking responsibility earlier could have prevented everything from escalating this far. What do you think about cases like this? The suspect was identified as a woman who attempted to quietly bypass the system. When approached, the woman remained completely calm, as if she performed an innocent act. >> Oh, he already wrote everything down. >> Oh, you have to do it, too. >> I got Yeah, this is my town. I'm going to get a haircut. >> I don't want to go all the way in there. I'm like hostage. I I don't want to be on the way in. >> All right. So, I got to talk to them, but right now you're not free to leave. So, I'm going to need it for my report. That's why. >> Thank you. Okay. So, because you are not free to go. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> No, you are not free to go. >> Why? >> Because I got to talk to them. I just got here. I know you've been here a while, but I'm I'm the investigating officer. You're a young lady. Come on. Bear with me. I got to find out what what happened. >> Nothing happened to me that I didn't pay for all of my items. >> Okay. and that's why I'm here. >> Her method of stealing was considered quite sophisticated to deceive the loss prevention team, but she did not expect that they were now exposing her entire scheme to the police. >> Um, so I was alerted by the selfch checkout host that she had all the food that was scanned and she was beginning to pay. There was a whole bunch of stuff that was not on the receipt. >> Okay. >> And she didn't even attempt to scan. Okay. >> Then we watch the I had him run it back and she ain't attempt $94 in out of $100 bill and um $5 on her debit card. >> $5 on her debit. Okay. Um how much stuff is it over there? >> It's probably like if not 100 a little bit over. >> What is is that also food or not? >> No, it's not. General merchandise like shoes, clothes, sippy cups, paper towels. And who alerted you? >> Uh, a worker that works at the subject. >> Okay. What do you guys want done? >> Prosecute. >> Okay. >> And trespass. >> Okay. >> Cuz she was not cooperative at all. She tried to snatch the car away from me and asked her to come out and the final point of sale. >> Yeah. When I stopped her in the vest on the other side, I asked her for her receipt. She gave me this one. I looked at it, glanced at it. I said, "Do you have another one?" She told me no. I said, "Do you want to come? Can you come back with me so we could talk about the um paper merchandise?" She told no. I'm trying to bring her back on this way. She got like five, six kids with her, so I'm not trying to, you know, >> trying to make it. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Then when she seen her PD, then she was like, "Oh, you want to go over here?" Like, "Yeah, I've been asking you to do that." >> Sure. >> The woman appeared frustrated about being detained, waiting for the police so she could leave. But it quickly became clear when officers arrived that she would not be leaving easily. >> Oh no. anything on there. >> All right. Just put your hand really quick and put it right here. Okay. >> Okay. >> Can you just turn around? Put your put your hand up really quick. >> Oh, wait. Your feet. >> Yeah. Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. >> So, what's going on now? >> I don't want Let me take a look. >> Why am I in handcuffs? >> Is this all the stuff? >> Actually, you mind taking her to my car? >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> Two mark one female in custody. So, this is all the stuff that she didn't pay for, correct? Okay. Hey, do you did you observe any of this or you pulled up? >> When I walked up, I observed that she had all this stuff up underneath >> underneath the car. So, she had stuff that she had paid for on top in bags. Was this stuff bagged or no? >> No. >> No, not bag. >> Wasn't bagged. So, basically, just picture all this stuff on top of >> Got it. Got it. Makes sense. Okay. So, then you stop her, you ask for another receipt. She's like, "Nah, she's kind of giving you a hard time." She's kind of being uncooperative. sees Elmer's starts freaks out >> freaks out a little bit and then you guys call us and then she told her kids to get to some van or something. >> Yeah, there's a van right there. Okay, I'll be right back. Okay, thanks guys. >> You're welcome. >> You guys have a female working or no? >> Uh we do. You want me to? >> You're under arrest. Okay. For retail theft. >> Wow. >> Get my boss. >> Yeah. >> It's just a little too high. Okay. It was like $184 worth of stuff. So, little too high for for a ticket. She showed no shame as she pleaded for a citation so she could leave. And earlier she had made similar pleas. The officer recounted those exact words. >> Kept saying, what did she say? She's like, "Man, I'll pay for whatever I didn't take." Uh, blah blah blah. So, >> that's what she kept saying to you and to them. >> Yep. Okay. With your present? >> Yeah. Okay, cool. Thank you. So, I'll pay for whatever I didn't pay for essentially. >> Exactly. And she said, um, the boyfriend was like, "Well, you kind of like help her a little." was like, "Oh, you might have done that by accident, right?" She's like, "Yeah, cuz I have all the kids." Okay. >> Yeah. >> So, let me go take a picture of the stuff and the receipts and um Yeah. You mind staying with her till I come back? Thank you, sir. >> Please. All right. Let me take this the receipt. >> Did she pay for She paid for this? >> Can she come back and get her? How do you guys want to do that? Her man left already. >> I credit her. And then uh my email, I'll send you guys an Axon link, too, >> just to double it up so we can get it to work. Okay. >> We also got a way to send the whole report through to Aura, so we'll check that out, too. >> Okay. I'm all new to this. I'm new to Dayshift. So, if you guys know the the shindig, I'm all in. >> All right. It could be said that despite her outward appearance, the woman was the one committing theft using an EBT card, showing no remorse at all. And she even kept smiling on the way to the police station. >> Can I pull my shirt up? >> Well, this female officer will help you out with that. >> Sorry, [ __ ] Here, move your seat belt out of the way. >> I didn't see it. >> Get your balance. >> Uhhuh. >> I got you. >> Where'd you put it? >> How do I grab it? Uh, you put in the back by any chance? No, I give it to uh their man. Okay. Okay, cool. You can walk the ramp. Thank you. Write this ramp right here. Your man uh what's your dude's name? >> Um >> No, I'm just going to address him. I'll just call him dude. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> The woman was formally charged with one count of retail theft. Shortcuts built on dishonesty always collapse under scrutiny and a moment of greed can quickly turn into lasting consequences. >> Shut the and don't say anything else. Keep your out your pocket. You understand me? >> Yeah. >> Oh no, man. We going to have to call it. >> On the 30th of April 2024, police received a report from a Walmart store about a theft that had occurred. The suspect was believed to be a man with unusual behavior. Not only that, there were other individuals, including one man and one woman, believed to be accompllices alongside him. And more clearly, shortly after, the blackclad suspect separated from the group and began stuffing all merchandise into his bag as if no one could see him. The remaining suspects were also not innocent. Although they did not conceal merchandise, during selfch checkout, they used the skip scan method. The police were already waiting at the store entrance. These were what happened when they approached the suspects. I got a car. Come on. that way. All the way to the back. All right. Take that bag off. >> All right. We're going to search her real quick just to make sure yapons came with that bag. I didn't take nothing. Turn around. Make sure you got no weapons on >> you like that. I got all that stuff. >> Sir, please stop coming around. >> Just face this way. That's it. Spread your legs. >> All right. Have a seat for me. Okay, ma'am. Same thing. I'm just checking some weapons. That's >> the man showed irritation at what was happening as if it made him appear innocent while each item in their bags was being inspected. This this red bag alone look ain't nothing but dub. >> Oh, this is dub everything. Come on. Where you going? Stop it. What is that? That's like Oh, one of them margaritas to go. >> Yep. I put that back. >> Oh, yeah. You know what? Yeah. She keep her stuff cold. >> All right. Got a bunch of magnums in here off. So good. >> The shoplifting plan was simple. They stole most of the merchandise while pretending to pay for a portion in order to obtain a receipt and continued hiding the unpaid items in their bags. Even when exposed like this, they showed no remorse. You can go to jail. Can we just Can we just slide, please? >> Hey, that's Back up. Can we just slide? Wow. >> I wouldn't be saying about chips. That's not even my car. >> Just ask me slide. Just let it slide by. We won't come back. I won't come back in. >> Well, we know you ain't coming back. That ain't going to happen. >> Just let me just let me slide. Please. That's crazy. >> Oh, she doing Can I Can I at least get out here and [ __ ] calm down, please? That's not how that works. Okay. >> He even began begging to be released and promised never to return. Not stopping there, he started taking all the blame onto himself in an attempt to shift responsibility away from his accompllices. >> Can she pay for it? >> No, you pass all that. >> Can we pay for it? Just pay for the chill. >> Just for the shoes. can't pay for something. >> I'm saying like I thought that >> like I'm getting blamed for that stuff like it was really y'all to charge you for my stuff. Really? I really I seen them and I was with them. I came here by myself to be honest man. >> You [ __ ] every day right? >> Yeah. >> You want you just let us go. >> Who call is it? It's the other officer's call. Okay. Now you got caught, but now you upset cuz you might go to jail. That's not how this works. Okay. >> Dad, I don't want to go to jail. >> Nobody wants to go to jail. But don't steal. >> It I'm trying to like >> You're not listening. Okay. We're not doing that. >> Can she be leaning on that? >> Hey there. >> Hold on. So they work from time to time. >> Can you please just give us a chance? >> Absolutely not. >> Oh my god. >> Well, there you go. >> Oh, we let you make that call. >> I got a feeling, man. Please. I can't. I'm pay for 15 years, but I don't want to go. >> I don't want to go to prison. I can't do it. >> The man showed no remorse. He was only frustrated that time in jail would waste his benefit payments. But it didn't stop there. His increasingly stubborn behavior only made the situation more tense. >> What does that paper say? That if you steal that Hey, hey, hey, hey, everybody. Hey, quit digging in your pants, man. Get your hands out your pants. >> Move back. Shut the L listen. You shut up. Okay, y'all doing be quiet. Well, be quiet. Y'all doing much. Okay, you try to be nice to y'all, but you want to act like you're crazy. Hey, don't shut up. There ain't no paper saying you can shoplift. That's going to give you a pass. Shut your mouth. You know what? Just did. That's it. You keep acting up, I'mma put hands on you. You digging in your crotch, I'mma put hands on you. Chill out. You understand? >> Do you understand? >> Yes, sir. >> Stop playing that crazy. Throw you crazy. Now y'all, >> I show up at my >> You AIN'T HELPING YOUR CASE. SHUT UP. >> I CAN'T. >> YOU'RE NOT HELPING YOUR CASE. YOU KEEP TALKING. SHUT THE Y PISSING ME OFF. BE QUIET. >> NOW, YOU WANT A FELONY OR NOT? >> NO, SIR. I don't want a felony. >> A felony, man. >> I don't want no felony. >> Now, chill. >> All y'all shut the >> Okay, >> you keep acting crazy, I'm going to take you myself. >> Okay, just be quiet. >> Now, all y'all shut the and don't say anything else. >> Keep your out your pocket. You understand me? You do that, I'm going put hands on you myself. Do you understand? >> Yes. All of the suspects appeared to be experienced shoplifterss as they showed no signs of fear or anxiety. Even while being handcuffed, they seemed more concerned about their personal belongings than about the wrongdoing they had committed. >> I can't get my phone. >> No, can I get my phone? >> You can get your phone when you get to the jail. Okay. >> And I got money in there, too. >> I know how much money you got. This I give you all your properties >> in my bag. What you going to do with home? >> Throw that away. >> Okay. on my back. >> Oh, you want another charge for selling alcohol? >> No. >> Hold on. >> I swear like I got a key. >> Now you can sit down. >> Let me borrow yours. Those both of them are mine. I just borrow your code for the rest of day. >> Yeah. >> And my phone in there. >> I got my wallet in my phone. >> Is there Is there a phone in there, Cameron? >> They're up here. >> Your cell phone? >> Yeah. Can I make a call? >> Oh, no. We going to have to call. >> The suspects were convicted of organized retail theft and payment fraud at Walmart. even when concealed through sophisticated methods such as pretending to pay or splitting up to act separately will ultimately be discovered and lead to serious legal consequences. While a lack of remorse only makes the situation worse for the offenders themselves. >> Your hands together. >> Seriously, you're not going to ask me a question. >> You're not going to ask. >> So, you don't have it on your phone? >> No. >> Okay. On the 18th of April 2025, officers received multiple 911 calls reporting a driver who appeared intoxicated, attempted to leave the parking lot, and nearly struck others. They immediately arrived at the scene, but the female suspect instantly denied everything. >> Are we good? >> What? >> Pull out. >> What's that? >> I need to pull out. >> Okay. Well, we got a call and you mind putting in park for a second? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I >> Can you pull forward here? You >> park for for him and I just need to >> Okay, put in park. >> Can you take your keys out of the ignition, please? >> Could I have the keys? >> I mean, >> so I can smell the alcohol coming off your breath. Okay. Um, we got a call saying that you almost hit some kids in the parking lot here. >> I almost hit some kids. >> Yeah, >> I did not almost hit some kids. >> You're slurring your words. I can smell the literally never though. I never even came in contact with children. >> Okay, that's fine. But I can just standing here, I can smell the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming off your breath. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, let me see your keys real quick. >> For what? >> Cuz I don't want you going anywhere. >> For exactly what? I literally haven't done anything wrong. >> Okay. How much have you had to drink tonight? >> I was with my friends just now to drink until I came here. >> Okay. Where were you guys at? Like what? I don't understand exactly what what I did to like >> So we got multiple calls like I said that you had >> multiple calls from me. >> Just listen. Just listen. >> Just listen. Okay. >> It's just kind of crazy to think that multiple calls came from me. >> The woman immediately became defensive when she heard the accusations against her. And beyond showing clear signs of drunk driving, she also failed to provide the necessary documents the officer asked for. >> Your driver's license >> in a second. >> Nope. You're going to give me your driver's license now? Or I will in a second. >> No, you're going to give me your driver's license now. >> I literally don't. At this point, I don't feel like I need to. >> You do? >> Because why? >> Cuz I'm investigating an OVI. >> An OVI? >> An OVI? Yes, I am an investigator. >> I literally did nothing to get to this point. >> I I'm done arguing. Provide me your driver's license or I'm going to we're going to get out of the car and you're going to be placed under arrest. >> I I hear what you're saying. >> Okay. So, where's your driver's license at? >> I will get it on my phone. I'm trying to get that out. Like at this point, I'm trying to tell you. >> I wasn't even trying to pick up my kids right now. I was not trying. >> So, your kids here? >> Yes. >> Did you Did you have them in the car? >> I did not drink them here. No, I I dropped I dropped them off and I had a a a >> Is there anybody else that you're with? >> I messaged somebody. Their their name is >> So, wait, who are your kids here? >> They are here with somebody completely different. >> Okay. >> I was not here. >> Okay. Shortly after, the woman admitted that she had been drinking. But what stood out was that she saw nothing serious about it, even dragging her own family into an excuse. >> How much alcohol have you had to drink today? >> I drank two drinks at the alcohol place. I was literally going to pick them up and drop them off. All I'm trying to do is get home at this point. I didn't realize it was going to be such a big deal. All I wanted to do like Are you willing to run? Can you listen for one second, please? >> Listen to me. Okay. Are you willing? Stop. Stop. Are you willing to run through some tests for me? >> Sure. >> Okay. All right. >> I was going to graduate next week. >> Hold on. Just listen. >> All I want to do is graduate so I can get to my next >> I had my children very very very early. >> All I'm trying to do is graduate. >> Okay. >> And now you want to like like look into my car and reveal like I'm I'm not doing anything wrong. >> Okay. 60 69 68 67 66 65 64 63 62 61 67 71 70 70 71 70 70 78 77 76. It was clear that she failed the backward counting test from 69, which showed that she had lied about how much alcohol she drank. Even when given another chance, she still made herself look even more suspicious. >> The letter D is in David, and I just want you to recite the alphabets of Q and Queen. >> Like a known person. >> Okay. Do Do you want to do this test? >> I I don't understand what I did wrong. >> Okay. >> Well, we're we're I I've already explained it to you. So, would you like to do this test or no? >> I don't know. Should I? >> It's up to you. If you're going to like pinpoint me as a criminal, then no. Because I'm I'm not a criminal. And I'm not trying to I'm not trying to get it past the law. I'm not trying to do anything. >> Are you going to do the test or not? >> Listen, I >> I'm asking you a question. Stop. >> Are you going to answer the question? >> You're looking at me like I'm trying to get above anything. I'm not. >> Listen. Are you going to do the test or not? That's a simple question. It's a yes or no question. >> I don't know. Depending on your answer. I don't know. >> It's not my answer. It's your answer. I'm asking you. You are making me seem like it's a different >> Are you willing to run through uh field sobriety tests for me? >> A field sobriety test. >> Are you willing to run through field sobriety tests for me? >> And what is the answer if I don't? >> Well, we're going to cross that when we get there. But I'm asking you if you're willing. >> I'm asking you if I don't. >> Do I not have that opportunity to ask you that? >> You do, but these are optional tests. >> So, I have every option to ask you what I'm asking. and you're asking me. I'm asking crazy. You want to keep me here >> and I'm trying to answer the questions as best as I can. >> There was clearly no cooperation like she claimed as she only made the situation more tense, quickly making it obvious to the officers what they needed to do next. >> Did you not want to ask me a question? >> Did you not ask me a question? >> So, I'm not going to be asked a question. >> You're not going to ask me a single question. Put your hands together. >> Seriously, you're not going to ask me a question. >> You're not going to ask me. >> I'm not going to ask. >> You're under arrest. Do you understand that? >> Even though I'm not. >> You have the right to remain silent and you say can we be against you in a court of law attorney and I have the present for any question. If you can't not anymore. No. >> Why? >> Do you understand your rights? >> I don't. I don't. >> I just read them to you. >> But you didn't. >> Did you understand? >> Because you did not understand. >> No. >> And what did you not understand? >> I didn't understand anything you said to me. We're going to have to say them again. >> What's your question? I'm not going to say >> all the questions. >> Okay, let's go. Let's put her in the car. >> You don't have any questions for me. >> What did I do? >> You're driving drunk. >> I literally >> You're being You're under arrest right now for OBI. Okay. >> Drink from there. And but >> what did you have to drink? >> All All I drank with it was literally a shot. >> Just one shot. >> Yes. >> What kind of shot was it? >> It was tequila. >> Okay. and and for some reason she I mean she didn't think that that was abnormal at all. She said that since she was going to a party that it was very very normal. >> She changed her story from two drinks to just one compared to her earlier statement which further proved that her state of mind was unstable. But what the officers found afterward was able to reveal the truth. >> Wallet, house key, phone passenger side. I mean, literally, let me take her out of the cup for just a second. >> I'm going to take the other one off, too, real quick so that way you can pull up the entrance for him. >> Tell me what I did. >> I told you you were under arrest for OVI. >> You You really I'm under arrest. >> Am I under arrest? >> Yes, >> I am under arrest. >> Yes, they arrested you for OVI. >> I have nothing to do with that, though. I'm talking about what happened right after all this. Can you see if you can close your insurance card, please? I don't know what you want. >> Your insurance. >> Yeah, I know. I know. But they don't want it. >> If I could do it without you wanting to like arrest you. >> I'm trying to help you. I swear to God. >> I don't want you. >> I don't want to hurt myself. All I want to do is get the truth to you. >> Sure. >> Let's work on the insurance card first. Yep. Hold the insurance. >> What am I trying to do right now? to get >> I don't know what you want. >> Do you know where your insurance card is? >> I know I have Molina, but I don't know what you want me to do. >> Oh, I want like car insurance. Your car. Do you have a picture of it? >> I don't. >> So, you don't have it on your phone? >> No. >> Okay. >> The woman was convicted of failing to stop after an accident while her ovi charge was later dismissed. This case showed that making excuses, changing stories, and refusing to cooperate only made the situation worse, while honest actions and responsibility could have prevented the chaos from escalating. >> All the while, I don't like supermarket job. >> Okay. I was in the office, but I come here. I can get a job. >> She was caught because she was um she'd go in and she'd reprint [music] receipts. Can you see where she >> on the 18th of April 2025, police had approached a residential area in connection with a refund fraud at Publix and the suspect was believed to be a cashier there who had taken $6,000. This was what happened at the time. >> How are you? >> Are you Mr. Liberon? >> Yeah. >> Um looking for Sue. >> Is she here? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You mind if we speak to her? >> All right. What's going on? doing an investigation, looking into a few things. Hello, Sue. >> How are you? >> I'm good. Yes. >> You mind speaking to me? >> Yep. >> Okay. Up to you if you want to close the door, whatever. I'm doing an investigation. >> Can you get shoes? >> Uh, yeah, sure. >> All right. >> Hello. I'm Detective Echis uh with the sheriff's office. This is Detective Coleman. >> Uh we're we I've been doing an investigation. I was contacted by Publix. >> Yes. >> You used to work for Publix? >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. You were recently fired. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um the situation is the investigation um they're looking to press charges. Okay. For the theft and the fraud. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Everything's been spoken about when you were terminated, everything. >> Okay. Um, I'd like to speak to you, uh, talk to you about the whole situation, you know, maybe what came about and why, you know, what was done was done, >> okay? But, um, for today, um, you'll be placed under arrest, okay? And take it with me, but I'd like to talk about it. All right? The woman seemed fairly calm after hearing what the officers said, almost as if she had expected this situation already, but when facing the handcuffs, she still showed her anxiety. >> I'm going to I'm going to place you under arrest. Okay. Um and you're going to come with me. All right. And we're going to go down to the station and I'd like to speak to you about everything. And then from there, you'll be taken down to gun club. >> Gun Club? >> Yeah, it's the jail. Okay. If you fail, >> do you really have to see? >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Yes. So, >> so I don't I just follow you, but I will not run away. >> No, this this is not how that works. Okay. So, like I said, there the the jewelry I'm going to take off or you can leave it here. Okay. So, I'm going to place you under arrest now. Okay. >> Okay. Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. No, no, no, no. We're not going to go inside. We're not going back inside now. Okay. That's the thing. I have to change. >> No, we're not. We're not going to change any clothing. You can take off the chain. >> I need to wear something roughly, please. >> This is perfectly fine. They actually give you a uniform when you get there. >> Yes. >> Okay. It's not about wearing certain attire. I promise. >> No. >> Okay. >> So, how should I how can I my husband build me out or whatever? >> Yes. I'll speak to you about all that and everything, but the thing is is >> No, can I just comb my hair? Do something about it. You're fine. You're fine. I promise you're fine. Okay. >> You're fine. I promise. >> Can I get my glasses? >> Uh, you can get the glasses. >> Good afternoon. >> Can I change my shoes? I do not want to wear this one. I just want to put their shoes. >> Yes, we will. We will get the shoes. >> We will take care of everything. I promise. If you want, we can step inside. >> For the officers, allowing a suspect to walk out of their sight would have created an easy chance for escape. So, they still had to handcuff her. Shortly after she was taken to the police station where she revealed the motive behind her crime >> maybe about 20 almost 20 years ago. >> Okay. >> So when I first came I just met with my very very good friend childhood friend. >> So I feel like she betray me. That's why I hate Florida is >> okay. >> She I was I I was helping her in the you know when I first came here she have a you know the small store. So I'm helping her on the second day I live in staying with her. Then she asked me you have to go out and look for a room. >> I [clears throat] just came the first time in my life come to America. She feel like not welcoming me. Ask me something like not the chase not say the chase is something like you know giving me something like uh you don't say in my house you go and look for a room or whatever. I said I do not mind but I do not. She just throw me a paper asked me to look for room. >> Mhm. >> I said I do not know it sounds best way. I said I do [laughter] not know who is your neighbor who how to go from your house also. You asked me to look for a room. I do not know where is it. Right. >> So then finally we settle everything. Then I work in her restaurant for maybe two weeks. So this a hatred of Florida. I really [laughter] hate Florida. >> So okay. So, >> so I cannot get actually I work in the office job all in my entire life. Actually, I work in a tiny office in Malaysia. >> Mhm. >> Then I come here I work in the office is Chinese company like the home health agency office means all office not like supermarket nothing all the while I don't like supermarket job. >> Okay. I in the office but I come here I cannot get a job so I have no choice because I don't like to stay at home doing nothing >> doing nothing is very boring so I said I need to get some things to go on at least I can see others >> okay >> so then I get the job actually until today I can tell you I don't like supermarket job I don't like the job I don't like at all until today >> through her story she had faced a lot of pressure as an Asian working in America had She tried to release that built-up frustration through stealing. She explained it shortly after. >> Maybe I feel a little bit happy. I can maybe I can say that something I I do not know the right words. Maybe I can feel a little bit happy or whatever because I as even though I told my husband every day I hate Florida. >> Mhm. >> He doesn't want to move back. >> So he said you want to move back. We divorce this and that this and that. Of course he's not threatening me to say that. He didn't threaten me anything. >> Mhm. >> That maybe this feel that I really hate or maybe for me like I'm get crazy for doing that. >> Well, I mean, so again, so you were angry and then you you take the receipt and you get the items >> and then um you would you return them right then? >> Yeah. And it get >> it was on your credit card. >> Uh sometime gift cards. >> Oh, you get gift cards? >> Yeah. >> Okay. But you put it back on your your credit card the for the receipt. >> A few item only. >> A few items. >> Yeah. >> Okay. [clears throat] >> How many time like how long ago did this start? >> It started maybe March or end of fe end of February. like February, >> not beginning. >> It could be said that by this point she had fully cooperated and admitted everything. And with additional evidence from the store's loss prevention department, everything became even clearer. >> Do you mind just telling us kind of the synopsis of what occurred and how you guys came about finding and identifying? >> Yeah. Uh she was caught because she was um she'd go in and she'd reprint receipts. You can see where she a customer would leave and then she'd go behind the customer and reprint the receipt of that customer's purchase. >> Okay. >> So, and then she would so she do the reprint. Here's her getting the reprint. And then she'd go to different stores. >> Okay. >> And she'd go and she'd find those items on those receipts. All >> right. So, this is her in the store. >> This is her at Yeah. at a store. Another store. 1749. And she would go through and look for what's on the receipts. She would select what's on the receipts and then she would um put them in a bag and uh and steal that product that's on those receipts. So, she'd put them in the in the Publix bags. >> So, she wouldn't pay for them while she was there. She'd walk out? Yeah, she would she would walk straight out the she stole. >> Okay. >> And then she'd go to other stores in the area and she'd use those. That's her right there. She'd use those receipts. >> Okay. >> And she would do refunds and then she put those refunds on her personal credit card. So, what caused the what was on the investigation was that our corporate uh there was a there's a program that's able to search for certain things and it saw where there was one credit card that got a significant amount of refunds uh like multiple throughout like a full day. So, the investigation started. In the end, the suspect was charged with organized retail theft, fraud, and illegal refund schemes involving more than $6,900 in stolen merchandise from Publix. Desperation and frustration never justified stealing because repeated dishonest choices would always destroy trust and eventually lead to serious consequences. >> What are you doing? >> I just said you are being detained. You are not free to leave. Okay, I'm not >> previous to the gold chains to this gold chain cost. >> On the 17th of September 2025, officers were dispatched to a jewelry store at K Jewelers after reports claimed a woman attempted to open a line of credit to purchase $35,000 worth of chains. But none of it would have mattered if every document she used had not been completely fake. This was what happened when officers arrived at the scene. >> Hi. >> Hi. Is the manager here? Yes, I'm the assistant [clears throat] manager. >> Um, there you are, my dear. >> So, you were already you in contact with the store manager, right? >> No. >> Okay. So, dispatch should have been called by the store manager here. She's not physically here. >> Um, but she called. Um, I have >> What happened? Don't even try anything. >> Okay. >> You're being detained. Put the phone down. Wait. >> You are being detained. >> What are you doing? >> I just said you are being detained. You are not free to leave. >> Okay. I'm not. Can I call somebody? >> Am I allowed to call somebody? >> Huh? >> Why didn't you wait? >> Huh? >> I said why didn't you wait? >> Cuz she was getting Wait for me. >> Okay. Can I please make a phone call? >> No, not right now. We'll get to it in a minute. >> Have a seat. Can you at least just write a phone number down a little, please? You don't have to keep that phone. >> The woman appeared confused after being handcuffed by officers, but it seemed she immediately realized what was happening when she deliberately avoided answering the questions coming from police. >> What's your real name? >> I need to call my lawyer. >> You need to identify yourself. >> Green, obviously, you know. Um, that's all right. You need to identify yourself. When you go to jail, they'll put you in a safe book for 3 days. >> I can't see those. I'll put it back on. >> But we're in our adventure conducting investigation right now. So, you have to you choose not to, you'll get a resisting charge as well. >> So, you want to give your real name? >> It's right there. >> Yes. >> Ashley. Ashley. >> Which pictures I should be doing? Can I have my glasses, please? >> This is the last one. >> Oh, she's done that many times in my district. >> So, it turned out this was far from the woman's first time. The employee later revealed details that suggested her actions were part of a larger operation involving multiple other suspects. >> We will give them to you. >> I have a lot. It's not a major priority right now, >> but we have everyone that comes to our stores. You know, everyone. Where's the There's more cuz my district manager and my loss prevention has been sending it to all of us. >> How long has this been going on? >> A while. >> While I This is a different guy and we can't get I don't know if you can take a picture or not. Like he's not here. Okay. >> He keeps coming to all the stores as well. He just came here a few weeks ago. >> I wasn't fast enough. This is a different one. This is There's so many. Give me just a second cuz I'm going to get a copy of it from the other monitor. Can I have a glasses, please? Can I please just make a phone call cuz my my son is in school. I need to make sure him. >> Oh, you should have been concerned about your son before deciding to commit a crime. >> I am concerned about >> No, before you committed the crime is what we're saying. >> When will I be able to make a phone call? >> When will you be able to what? Make a phone call. >> When you're in jail. >> It seemed the woman knew she could not escape on her own. So, she tried calling her accompllices for help, unaware they had already ended up in the same situation as her. Okay, I'm getting in touch with my district manager cuz he has the rest of them. I thought my store manager had it, but she didn't. So, let me call him. >> So, what exactly happened? >> Okay, so let's So, she has been to my stores in all of Orlando and all of the managers have been talking about this for months. I don't know if she did it previously. We have a couple that come frequently. Um, and she's trying to make money. She has good social numbers that have their open 10,000 accounts to take the heaviest thing that you can pawn. >> Mhm. >> And like just looking at 7,000, 8,000, 9,000, 10,000. >> So they open up credit cards to buy. >> Yes. >> To take to pawn. [music] So they buy the easiest pawn things, which is the heaviest gold we can get. >> And that's what she was looking at. is our my loss preventions last notice of about her specifically the case was to call the police because of how many times and how many accounts they've got open. >> Mhm. >> So, do you know how many times she's done it here? >> In my location, this is the first I think. But it's it's for K Jewelers in Orlando specifically a bunch of times. >> Okay. >> Yes. At Waterford Lakes, at Florida Mall, at Winter Garden, um Davenport, I believe, and one more location. and a couple of them she goes back regularly to try and the last time I called the police. So, thank you so much, my mom. I appreciate you. >> At this point, the items the suspect intended to take were also listed out. Even though the transaction had never been completed, they were still enough to help determine the charges she would face. >> Credit, but after we did the credit account, then we were going to see >> then what? >> Um, after we did the credit account, then she wanted to see what they would she would qualify for to buy them. >> Okay. But we had to have the credit account in order for her to purchase it. Essentially, previous to the gold chains, I went to this gold chain cost 6,999 and this one for $6,899.99. Okay. So, I put the the cost and I put the item numbers of each of them, the retail prices. Um, yeah. And so, mama, what else do you need? >> Do you want me receipt? >> I would get one cuz they're going to ask for one. >> Can I have a receipt? >> I Because she didn't buy anything. I don't have receipts unless it was physically like >> process. I need a receipt. Would you >> like just print out like a board receipt like scan it out? Usually, >> I don't think so that I know of. There's not a way for me to I can like put them back in the system like how I had them and then we can do like a picture but there's >> Well, they have like all the cars. >> Yeah. Yeah. And I have it on it. Yeah. >> I wish. The woman was ultimately charged with fraudulent use of personal identification information, unauthorized possession of identification cards, obtaining credit cards through fraudulent means, uttering forgery, and possession of a fictitious Florida driver's license. Using fake identities and fraudulent credit accounts might seem like an easy way to make money, but repeated crimes always leave a trail behind, and eventually every lie becomes evidence. >> Are you 21? You're not supposed to have that. >> On the 18th of April 2024, police were dispatched to a Walmart after receiving reports of an ongoing theft. The suspects were identified as three individuals. Christopher, 45 years old, Caitlyn, 20 years old, and Sophia, 19 years old, who were pushing a shopping cart out of the store. At that moment, officers quickly stopped them before they could leave. This was what happened next. Okay. Yeah. 15 minutes around. We also have a furnace, too. And if you go in there right now, she got it up on her shoulder. >> All right. Okay. Well, we're going to figure out who's got what here in a sec. Who's got IDs? Pull it out. >> You got one? >> That's fine. We're in the AP office. Just whenever we get here, we'll be sure. >> They were not surprised by the officer's request as they clearly knew what they were facing at that moment. Each item was checked to prove their act of theft. Who had this one right here? >> Shoplifting bags where you just keep nothing in there but the stolen merchandise. Advanced retail theft techniques possession. >> Okay, that's enough. Um, you want to give me that? Be there 14 and I'll go. Absolutely. Get started. >> I need to search. >> Um, yeah. You searching them? You can get out of here. >> Yeah. All right. Have a sit down. So, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to be searching both of the females. Do you have anything on you that's going to put me safely or hurt me? Is there anything that I should be aware of if you were to go jail that they find that you will get additional charges? anything that you hid on you person while you were in Walmart. Immediately after that, a body search was conducted to ensure they carried nothing dangerous and had no stolen items hidden on them. Are you 21? It's even worse. It's only like a $15. This is where your Where's your car at? >> Thus, unauthorized items were still found despite the officer's warnings. Additionally, the presence of an older man accompanying two young women he did not know also raised suspicion among the police. >> What's uh what's the bird that he is going? >> All three are going to go. >> What's this guy hanging out with these two young kids? I mean, they're not like kids, but they're like they're basically kids. >> Yeah. >> What's he doing? Hang out with >> teaching them wayward. Actually, I would say uh >> career is teaching him and the other one >> things to do. She's all the cop, right? Or maybe she's just really bad at it. She's getting all want to get caught. I'm sure they've all done it before. The one sitting in on the chair facing the computer monitor, she's so nervous that her karate just like pulsating in her neck. You can see it another or that. >> According to the investigation, a background check revealed that all three had outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court. And it seemed the man felt no remorse. uh a bun or something like something like this. >> I'm sorry. I didn't hear you. >> We get a bun or something. >> I mean, there will be, but we don't set it as us. It'll be set by the jail. >> Go ahead and stand side up. Can you turn your wrist? That does not look comfortable. >> I'm not going to be able to like purse and my pee and everything. Come on. Just made it. All three were charged with retail theft and additional counts related to outstanding warrants for failure to appear. The lesson here was clear. Small acts of dishonesty could quickly escalate into serious legal consequences, [music] especially when combined with repeated offenses and poor judgment. >> Just her just what she concealed. >> So she had the blue buzz balls with her. Just stop. Alissa talk to you. >> On the 26th of January 2025, police were dispatched to a Walmart store after receiving information about a theft that had occurred. The suspects were believed to be two women who were still concealing merchandise. Police arrived at the scene and witnessed everything through the camera. Right now, we only have concealment on one, but she's dropping stuff pretty quick. Okay. >> So, I don't know if they have a look out outside, but it's this female. And then there's another one, but someone here. >> Okay. Just her. >> Just this one. >> What she conceal? >> So, she had the blue buzz balls with her. >> Okay. >> And she went to one of our aisles and she only came out with that one. >> She still have it on her person or just in the cart? >> It's in this uh green bag right here. >> Oh, okay. >> That's the other female. >> That's the other female. We didn't get We didn't get her, but for her, we got that. >> They always go to the restroom. >> Especially after they do it, that's when they go to the restroom. >> We're still just concerned with the one in red. >> I'm Yeah, I'm concerned about that one, but she did have liquor and there was no lick in that basket when we got over there. >> Oh, she's coming up this way. Are we >> Yeah, she want They want to trespass. Yeah. Shortly after, both women were stopped and taken to the loss prevention office. This was only the beginning of a shoplifting case that was not simple at all. Make sure you keep it separate. >> What's up? >> Can I go? >> What's the first name? >> Vanessa. You got to think about it for a second. Is it Vanessa? >> Yeah. Yeah. My name is um I don't have anything on me at all. >> Have you had one? >> Yeah. >> Have you had an ID out of New Mexico? >> No. No. >> Just Texas. >> Do you have any ID on you? >> I don't have anything on me at all. >> Nothing with your name on it. >> I'm sorry. I don't >> have like a bill from somewhere. >> When I run you out of Texas and New Mexico, you come back clear. No record on file. That means they don't have anything in their system. >> I really have never been arrested. >> I'm freaking out right now. My mother is so proud. I'm like this like >> Okay. >> So your first name >> Melissa. >> No. No. Melissa. >> Are you sis? >> No. >> So when I ask you >> Melissa. Okay. If you start beating on the bush and doing this false stuff, that's not going to be good. Just give us your straight up name, date of birth, and we could probably be out of here. >> Or I can take you to Bord Patrol, make a fingerprint, figure that out. Or I can arrest you, take it to jail, and then when they figure you out. >> My name's Melissa. Melissa Sanchez. >> Melissa Sanchez. Okay. >> I'm sorry. I'm just getting my like get nervous about >> I just want to be missing. >> Let's say you were just going to get to shoplifting but now I'm considering >> No, I'm sorry. Just get in your face. Like >> it's better just to be honest. You already got caught. >> The woman was identified by her real name as Melissa, not Vanessa as she had initially claimed. At this point, police also had sufficient grounds to detain her. >> Let me show you my >> stand up. You guys can see my my thing. >> No. Until you be honest with us, we >> Okay, >> we're going to find you regardless. Or you can go to jail. We'll put you under Jane Doe and then of course we figure out where you are and you stay in jail until that happens. I don't care. >> It is 24. >> Not 24. 26. >> No, she wasn't born in 96. No, he's 26. It's the year in 25. >> I don't know. >> You're born in 24. That doesn't make sense. >> I just >> You were born in 24h. >> Last year. >> No. Okay. >> Oh, like the year 96. I thought you said how old was I? >> What year is it right now? >> 20 24. >> Okay. It's not 2024 either. But if you were born in 96, how old would that make you? >> So you're not born in 96 if you're 24. >> Yes. >> No. Doesn't add up. Math doesn't matter. >> You'd be 298. >> You're skipping 4 years in your life. >> Please. Let's go. >> Can I show her my Can I show you my ID for her? Please. >> Huh? >> Can I show you my ID through my phone? >> Well, now you have an ID, >> sir. Please. >> Look, we've been trying to give you a chance upon chance and then >> Oh, I'm sorry. Please. I'm sorry. Please look at me. Like, please. >> She began making emotional pleas that were unnecessary, seemingly as a way to create distraction. And shortly after, she suddenly made an unexpected move. >> Stop. Stop resisting. Stop. Stop. >> Stop resisting. >> Just stop. Let me just talk to you. Please stop. Stop. Please. I swear. >> Do you know how worse you're just making this? >> Please let me show you. >> Stop. Do you know how worse you're making this? >> Please stop. Now you're going to get in charge of resisting. Now you are. No, you are going to go. So, we'll just figure it out and we'll see if she chills out. >> I want to go >> my leg behind her. >> I'm not going to get up. I'm not going to do nothing. Please. >> All right. We're going to set you up in chill out or we're going to put you in a wrap and have super uncomfortable. >> You're going to jump this. So, stop. >> Oh my god. Can I show you my ID through her phone? Please. >> Are we going to sit up like an adult? Are we going to behave like an adult? >> Yes. >> You have me. Stand up. We're going to get an ambulance. Check take check you up. >> Without showing any sense of shame, her actions only made the situation worse. The officers also explained to her how her behavior had escalated the severity of her case. >> Have a seat. If your name is Melissa, have a seat. >> I'll show you. >> Too late. >> I'll show you. >> You're going to jail. Put your feet in. >> I'll show you. >> Put your feet in. Put your feet in. Please put your feet to go to jail. >> Why? Cuz you didn't tell us your name. One, you're shoplifting. Two, you're concealing your identity. And now you're resisting arrest. >> I'm sorry. I didn't mean to resist. Like I He just brought me down. I didn't mean to. I really wanted to just get you. >> You stop going away. Then you would that wouldn't happen. Put your feet in. We're having people come check you out and then we'll go from there. >> You guys, please >> put your feet all the way in. Please. >> I'm begging you. >> Here. Let's Let's behave like an adult, right? You're somehow in your 20. >> I'm begging you. >> You're somehow you're in your 20s, though, right? Let's act like an adult. Have a seat. >> I'm 26. >> I don't care. 1998. Look. trying to run. All right. You're trying to run off. >> I'm not trying to run. Please. >> We're going to get >> Let's behave like getting your feet in. [laughter] You're going to catch our charges. Put your feet in. >> I'm done. Melissa, put your feet in. >> All right. So, I'll need you to find this one right here. By saying this, you're not saying that you're guilty or anything like that. Uh, you're just accepting that going to court. Okay. Do you have any questions? >> No. Take a picture, bro. >> They're asking for your information. >> Okay. >> And then for you, ma'am, one question for the shop thing with the miners. Do you have like a total amount for that one? >> It was literally four bucks. It was like $4.95. >> $4.95. >> Yeah, I have it. >> She was formally charged with shoplifting, concealing her identity, and resisting arrest. Her accomplice, Serenity Hart, was issued a criminal citation for shoplifting. Her case shows how lying, resisting, and trying to manipulate a situation only made everything worse. Once confronted by law enforcement, refusal to cooperate turned a minor theft into multiple criminal charges and serious legal consequences. Next, the two women even continued to lie despite being caught red-handed by the police. >> Stuff and then they go pay for two or three things. Or they come up here, ring up stuff, and say their car doesn't work. >> Why am I being handcuffed? >> For theft. >> For theft. It's my first time being in this building. On the 3rd of October 2024, the police received a call from a shopping store reporting a theft committed by two women. More specifically, the following was the employees statement regarding the incident. >> Have poops in here. >> Um, they've came in. This is our usual. They come in about 10:15 and they run around and stuff carts and then they attempt to walk out with them. >> Okay. >> Um, these ones came in very suspicious from the beginning. Came in with empty bags, backpacks, stuff like that. Um, but that's what we've noticed. They're they're literally just grabbing stuff. >> So, are they still in here right now doing it? >> Still in right now. >> Okay. So, they're like it's in progress essentially. Okay. And I see that my backs just got here, too. So, >> um I will wait for them to come in and then we'll head in there. >> So, this back end over here through here. Okay. >> Trying to zigzag it. >> All right. [laughter] Thank you. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> What are we doing? >> Are we waiting for them to actually steal? That's what I'm wondering. Like in the Target overtime days, you just wait for them just so you have something to do. >> Yeah. >> What's the word? >> This is what they look like now. She has this bag in the basket in the other bag. And as I'm going past the men's shoes now, you can kind of see her in the basket. >> She's putting items in there. >> You can kind of see her working in there. She's got watches. She's got shoes. They've got all kind of stuff in that basket. And this one, her backpack looks a little bigger than it was when she got here. [laughter] >> But they're both in the back corner of our store right now. So, >> yeah, we got an offic. >> Yeah, that's usually the ones that hang out by the men's shoes are usually the ones that hit the emergency door. So, >> and there is there four of them or just those two? >> Two. He said that two the other two people that came in at the same time as them. >> Did they already leave? >> This gentleman and another guy that came in right behind them, they've walked out already. Oh, with items or without? >> No. Okay. Just >> they just they came in, kind of looked around, and then they left. And >> due to store policy, the police were unable to apprehend them at the scene. However, the moment they stepped outside the doors, officers quickly moved in and took action. >> Hi, ma'am. Can we talk to you real quick? >> Can we talk to you real quick? >> Yes. >> Um, so the store um >> Yeah, we put every we didn't we put everything back. >> Okay. They want you guys trespass. >> Okay. >> So, we're If you don't do you have any ID on you? >> No, I don't. I got warrants. Okay. >> Good. How are you? >> How we doing? >> I'm fine. How are you? >> How are we doing? So, >> we're fine. So much fun. What happened? >> Okay. So, the store wants you guys trespass. >> Okay. >> Do you have any ID on you? >> Um, no. I'm from California. >> You're from California? Okay. >> My ID was in my purse when we got robbed. >> My two E like this. And then uh what's your name? >> Okay. We're going to work through this. What What's your last name? >> Ma'am, what's your >> Okay. >> Do either of them have anything on them right now? >> In their backs. Thanks. both of them. I know [music] this lady with the ones on her body. Those are the ones that she had in the basket. >> Okay. Do we know for sure about the other girl kind of walking away? >> Um I'm not positive, but I know her backpack does look fuller than the last one. >> Okay. For sure the white jacket one for sure. >> Okay. >> Like I was so take this back off. Okay. >> Okay. >> Just relax. >> All right. Take this one off as well. >> Why am I being arrested, sir? >> So we'll plan in just a second. Okay. >> Okay. But why am I being arrested? >> But why am I being handcuffed? >> The women acted confused and shocked by what the police were doing to them, but they did not realize that the evidence inside their backpacks had already made the case nearly impossible to dispute. >> That's my stuff. That's why I said there's nothing. >> Okay. Talk to him. >> Is this your guys' product? She's saying that it's hers. And those are from over here. >> Okay. >> Shoes is not >> not your guys'. No. >> And then whatever those headphones aren't either. the B uh BT21s. >> Let me ask the Okay, you say American Eagle, so I'm assuming no. But how about some shoes or the uh headphones? >> No, those aren't from here. >> Okay, that's just the first bag. So, >> yeah. What bag was she putting it in? >> Uh the both of the duffel bags. So, not this one. >> Ah, okay. Okay. >> Whose stuff is this? That's not the >> Oh, not not to that part yet. >> Oh, all right. My bad. And you said so the the only thing out of that bag is the coats. >> I promise you don't. >> Okay. Is there anything in her bags? >> That stuff that's our stuff that's in in the bag. >> The coat is theirs. >> Other than that, it's that's our stuff. >> Okay. >> I promise you we're not. >> And is there anything in that bag that we need to know about that belongs to the store? >> Okay. >> I don't think so. Um, it's okay. Do just just set it here. >> I just want to know if you just my stuff. >> Okay. So, just don't open that right now. >> The employee confirmed that all the merchandise belonged to the store and there was already sufficient evidence to proceed. At that point, the officers returned to the suspect to inform her of this conclusion. >> All right. Well, you lied like I knew you did. >> About right about what? >> Cuz there's two wallets in there and there's a watch in there. >> Oh, that was a Uh, well, I didn't know. >> That's why I always check. >> Okay. Well, I wasn't. >> Yeah, it's confirmed. >> Good. Okay, they're confirmed. So, she is under arrest now for sure. So, if you want to continue searching her, take her, you know, the bags, all that kind of stuff. >> Okay. >> And the boots. The snake skin boots. >> Excuse me. >> I think you had like five shoplifting warrants. >> Four. Oh, sorry. >> Probably getting real rough to give you a break if you got five. >> But two of them. >> I have I have the court. I'm not trying to get in your bed. >> I know you're not trying, but I'm just being honest. And then one of them like >> You got to stop stealing. You got >> You're doing a lot of >> You got a good work ethic if you you got this match going on. >> I'm just I know just I'm I'm I'm trying. I know. I I know. >> Okay. Just Did anybody tell you you had the felony warrant out of state? Okay. That will not go away ever. It's going to be there forever. So, at some point, they'll probably get fed up and take you. Just know. >> All right. You're just going to have to sit. Yep. Sit back. Immediately after successfully detaining the suspects, officers returned inside the store where the employee once again recounted the entire incident, further confirming their brazen and arrogant behavior throughout the theft. >> And when did they as soon as they enter? Where did they go first? >> Uh they went to shoes, women's shoes, and they went to the baby section. And that was the first place that we seen them acting a little suspicious. They were kind of just grabbing shoes. And then they would start the conversations when we came over like, "Oh, what size shoe does this nephew or that nephew wear?" And I'm like, "You're in women's shoes talking about what your nephew wears." Um, from there, the one with the white sweater and the black stretch pants. Um, we saw her leave shoes and then she kind of hung out in the girls section. The other one began to run kind of back and forth. She was like grabbing stuff and bringing it to her, grabbing stuff, and they had the basket with a bunch of different stuff in it. like a little basket that you carry around. >> Yeah. It No, it was the cart. >> Cart. >> And then um they had came here, grabbed a couple watches, went over here in our queuing, grabbed a couple wallets. Um and then they were hanging out in the men's shoe section. So, I walked past them about three or four times and I had noticed the things in the basket slowly disappearing. Like I walk by, you didn't go anywhere, but the watches are gone, the wallets are gone, these things are gone, and their bags were now stuck. Um, at that point, it was about 5 6 minutes before that when I called you guys cuz I noticed the sus suspicious behavior. Um, after that, they attempted to come up to the register. Um, they took two things out of the basket, a pair of shoes and a kid's jacket, and told my cashier, "Oh." >> Finally, the two women were formally charged with shoplifting. Repeated dishonest actions will eventually lead to undeniable evidence against you. And attempts to appear innocent cannot erase responsibility once the truth is exposed. >> You got your driver's license and insurance on the vehicle. >> Let go. Let go. Let go. Let go. No. You making you making it. I'm not. >> On the 17th of July 2023, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after noticing its registration had long been expired. And they quickly approached and explained everything. Here was what happened next. >> Go ahead, stay in the vehicle for me. Go ahead and stay in the vehicle for me. This is a traffic stop. Stay in the vehicle. >> Uh I'm right here off of uh Highway 50 and um uh >> that's Regency right there. >> Huh? >> This is CC Food Mart. I think the address is 1011 West Highway 50. >> West Highway 50. Can you do me a favor and could you go ahead and get off the phone real quick and we'll do our business and I'll be on your way. Ma'am, >> I'm listening. >> Okay. Do you got your driver's license insurance on the vehicle? >> My insurance. The >> reason I stopped the vehicle is the registration's almost been expired for about a year now. Were you aware of that? >> No, I haven't been aware, but I've been trying to get this mug. >> Could you go ahead and hand me that plastic bag that looked like a little bit of weed in there and your purse, man? >> What about it? Just hand it to me real quick. >> Why? >> Because I saw it. It gives me probable cause. >> Probable cause for what? >> We can do this easy way or I'll work with you if you work with me. Okay. Is that all it is? Thank you. You got your driver's license and insurance on the vehicle. I see your ID real quick. And do you have insurance on it, ma'am? >> Yes. >> Okay. Show. >> You want do do you have an app or anything on your phone by chance? >> No. said, "No, >> do me a favor. Whenever you find it, just give me a thumbs up and I'll come and check it out." Okay. >> The woman made things difficult with nearly every request from the officers. In fact, she showed no real sign of trying to look for the paperwork at all, forcing police to warn her once again. >> Okay. That's been expired for over a year. Do you have anything? >> No, that's that's a old one, but it's the same thing. I just >> Can you pull up a Geico uh app on your policy or uh policy on your phone or anything? >> No, it's through my mom. My mom is on the phone. >> See if she could get you a copy of it and send it to you. >> I I don't uh the original copy, the new copy is at home, but you can still run it and it's up to date with >> You're supposed to have a valid card on your account. >> I don't belong. >> Is your mom looking for a valid one? >> Huh? Is your mother looking for a valid insurance card by chance? >> No, my mom. Mom, send it to me. >> Hang tight. I'll be back with you in a sec. >> Aside from the vehicle violations the woman was already facing, the bags of cannabis officers had seized earlier also became another issue, further affecting the charges against her. And police quickly informed her of that. Because in the state of Illinois, even though it's illegal recreationally, it still has to be in an odor odorless sealed. >> It is odorless. >> No, it is not. I saw it though. >> You saw it, but you >> Yeah, that's called probable cause. It's still illegal to possess it. And if you're going to have in the state of Illinois, it has to be in the container you get it from in the dispensary. It has to be sealed still and odorless and childproof. >> So, I'm not a child. Ain't nobody in it. >> It doesn't matter. By state statute, you have to It has to be in the sealed container. >> Just take it. >> Yeah. Yeah, it's being seized at this point. >> Mhm. >> Just seated. >> Actually, go ahead and step out for me real quick. Okay. >> For when? >> Just step out and we'll talk out here. >> For what? >> Because I am allowed to direct you to step out of the vehicle, ma'am. >> For what? What is the purpose? >> Because you're going to be placed under arrest for driving on a suspended driver's license. >> How? >> Your license is suspended. I'll explain that. All out of the vehicle. Come on. Come on, ma'am. Step out of the vehicle. >> Step out of the vehicle. I'm not trying to get you idiotic charges. Just step out. arrested for >> I'm getting arrested now. >> I'm getting arrested for a license suspension. Step out of the vehicle. >> I am. Come on. Let's go. You don't have to touch. >> Well, then step out. >> I am. >> Are you trying to get obstruction charges? >> No. Then step out. >> Told me to do something. >> Then step out. >> You just told me to do something. >> Gilbert, I am trying to work with you as much as I possibly can. >> You just told me to do something, right? I'm He just told me to do something. You need You need to step out. >> Just step out of the vehicle. It was clear the woman had no intention of cooperating. Yet, she still acted innocent as if she was doing exactly that. And her actions only made it even more obvious moments later. >> Let go. Let go. Let go. Let go. No. You You making You making it I'm not because he putting his hands on me. You just told me to do something. I can't even do it. >> Let me go. Let me go. >> This This you detain. You're being placed under arrest. being detained. I'm saying they don't get broke. They don't get broke. >> I cannot do that. Look, look, I will relax if you if you just go to the phone. >> You're not going anywhere. >> I'm not going nowhere. >> Relax. >> No. No. That's disrespectful. Y'all can't detain me. And put >> You're not being detained. You're being placed under arrest. >> But y'all can't put your hands on me. Y'all just told me to do a direct order and y'all telling me to do otherwise, but then y'all put your hands on me. That's not right. >> Okay, >> relax. Relax. Okay, >> relax. >> Let go my finger. >> Relax. >> Damn. Why you bending my finger? >> Relax. >> Well, tell him to let go my finger. >> You need to relax so we can get the handcuffs on you. >> Get the handcuffs off me without you there grabbing my finger like that. >> Miss Gilbert, is there anything else? >> Shut my door, please. anything on you I need to know about anything >> shut my door please if you >> finally the woman was cited for possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle resisting arrest driving with a suspended license and expired registration refusing to cooperate and arguing through clear violations only made the situation worse showing that compliance and accountability could have prevented additional charges next employee shocked everyone after being caught stealing an even larger amount of money. >> All right, Lincoln, do me a favor. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Be detained right now. >> To have plans with my wife today going [clears throat] tonight and relax >> might actually be out tonight or tomorrow. On the 30th of January 2026, police received a report from a Fifth Third Bank about an employee accused of stealing from the bank. The suspect was allegedly a man who had secretly pocketed cash for himself multiple times. And once officers arrived on scene, a plan to detain him was immediately set into motion. >> I'm doing all right. How are you? >> Oh, this is the guy we're looking for. Not he's our PC. >> She called me. >> Yeah, I was just on the phone with her. So, where is he located right now? >> Okay. He has no idea. [clears throat] >> Uh the police here. You don't speak by the way. >> He's walking out of the office right now from the back. Oh, what's he wearing? >> You just stand forward right now. >> Okay. >> Hello. >> All right, Lincoln. Do me a favor. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Just put your hands behind your back. >> Detain right now. >> All right. Can I Can I just lock your fingers? >> Just Just let's do this part and then we'll be able to talk. Okay. >> Now, what I'm saying, I'm hopic. >> Okay. Okay. >> Can I have this done, please? >> Okay. But >> I'm claustrophobic. That's all. >> Right after the suspect was detained, one of the officers returned to speak with the bank representative where the full story behind the man's thefts finally started to become much clearer. >> So, um I know my partner was kind of briefed already on what's going on, but can you just break down for me what what exactly happened? What's what's going on? staff. I'm going to take the officer in the vault so we can talk about this. We won't be program officer. [clears throat] >> Hi, sorry. So, my name is officer Roberto with >> Lincoln man came on my radar. We were notified that there was a customer discrepancy of a deposit that he didn't report in his balance sheet in the amount of $265. So, I was investigating it and I saw him on surveillance um take a stack of loose cash out of his drawer and um it disappeared as he went on camera. By that point, his teller drawer had already been put away. All the other money was secured and it was just a stack of loose cash that he had. Um, so I interviewed him today based on believing that there's theft in this. He confessed that this did happen last Tuesday. He stole $265. And then he said within the last month there was three other occasions that he had stole money that he believes to be $4,000. So, the man had already confessed to the thefts, which was why he stayed calm while being handcuffed. After allegedly stealing around $16,000, he finally began showing regret for his actions. >> Never ever touched a money in the world, any penny. He's just an overage that I got. And that's what I took. That's it. >> I'm very, very, very ashamed, very regretful of this. That's my job last year, January 18th. Now, it seems I'm going to lose my job this year. sort >> the bind I was in because of that loss of job. >> Now what I did put me in a lot >> a greater and a deeper bind. >> Yeah. Put you in a little bit of trouble, man. >> You know, I appreciate you being honest about like the overages and >> you know what you've been taking and all that. So the key to the breaking pocket you can't get to. >> Absolutely. >> Oh yeah. Sit down. [clears throat] >> What was that last call? >> Do you have a weapon? There's going to be 300 kids in this car. >> You have a weapon guy. Yes, sir. >> Yeah. I'm saying here >> like on you. >> No. >> Did you write that statement? >> You wrote this statement. >> Sorry. >> Yeah. You're you're detained. You are not free to leave. Clearly, he carried out the thefts multiple times, meaning he had plenty of chances to stop before getting caught. But now, he suddenly started bringing up his family and acting remorseful in hopes of getting another chance. >> Oh my god. I was just about to say, >> right? >> That's it, right? I agree. >> Got by police and the police say, "Why are you windows down? I know my rights. I know my this." I'm like, "Sometimes that's really uncalled for." I would say most of the time it's uncalled for. Well, you know, I will say every now and then [snorts] if you actually know your rights like that is like amazing. >> No, [clears throat] no. My god, man. My god. >> What happens after the earth, you know, to my wife, my child, my mother. >> Well, >> I tell you, I can tell you this much that it is not the end of the world. >> What do you mean? Like I'm telling you that it's not the end of the world. >> Exactly. >> If you being arrest if you're being arrested. >> How is that not the end of the world? >> It's not good >> to have plans with my wife to bake and eat something wine [clears throat] tonight and relax. >> Might actually be out tonight or tomorrow. >> Yeah, but I don't want to be arrested. >> I got it. I don't think anyone does. >> Nobody like between you and the bank, I'm pretty sure that relationship is done. Once you lose that, it's done. Like I'm not saying like you can't get a job after this, but it's not going to be in banking. >> Before letting the man leave, the bank representative spoke to him one last time, offering a few final words and advice after everything that had happened. >> Right. Hey, this is this something that that you can't recover from. No, >> I did. >> You're you're a father and you're a husband. >> I am. And I'm a leader. >> I would say, you know, your corporation was a big part of that. Be honest, right? I would tell you continue to be cooperative throughout the corporation overall. You know, you're not a bad guy. Everybody make mistakes, man. And that's why we didn't want to walk out and embarrass you. He's also a really good officer because you advocated for you to put, you know, transfer. But I wouldn't buy you any fifth, right? Because, you know, there was types made friends. That's up to you. But, >> you know, um, but I would buy you any other fifth area. We wouldn't make s before you do. So, >> what about my account closed? >> I don't know. I don't think they would be um pretty think about doing >> what about withdrawing on it as far as all the note from a bank side bank perspective as a customer we haven't decided to do anything with that far as employee the bank has decided to separate your employment the bank yeah and then you know right now I haven't heard anything about your personal bank relation I know you have personal relationships with some of the folks here so how do you handle those or just outside of the banking >> okay >> not sure if you're going to be They didn't say or whatnot, but >> no, I can't say anything about what happened today. >> I can tell you if if [laughter] Mark Anthony comes to you about it or whatn not, feel free to discuss because this is not something I'm going to withheld from. >> So what now? >> It's not something I'm going to withhold from you. I'm going to have a conversation with him, a man converation with him about it. So >> finally, he was ultimately charged with grand theft. Don't wait until everything collapses to realize your mistakes because repeated bad choices will always catch up eventually. And then you use your kids to do it, too. Either way, you're going to jail in handcuffs. >> No, I'm not going to jail. >> You're under arrest for a retail theft. >> Why do you think it was me, though? >> Cuz I told you I got surveillance video. >> On the 18th of July, 2025, police received a report from Kohl's regarding a retail theft in which a female suspect had fled after stealing $200 worth of merchandise. Police pursued the woman to her residence. This was what unfolded. >> Roll down your window. You can have this in your car. Roll down your front window. All right, roll down your window. >> Roll down the window. You're the one scaring your kids, not me. Hold on the window, ma'am. Just roll down the window and talk to me. I'm not even asking you to do anything. >> What's going on? >> How's it going? Well, first off, >> I just came for the pool with my kids. I'm trying to fix I don't even know what you're here for. >> Okay, first off, my name's Officer Bujack. I went with the Homer Police Department. Homework. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. What? >> Okay. Well, this car is lying in connection under retail theft. >> Okay. Y'all want me? >> What's your name? >> Bro, this not even my No, >> this isn't your car. >> Listen, listen, listen. Can I Can I take my kids out? I I don't mind getting out. I just want to make sure I don't know what's going on. >> Okay. >> Well, you kind of wrecked me out here. >> I can. >> Okay. What do y'all want my car for? >> You, Alexandria, >> and this car? >> Y'all throwing me off? >> I'm not y'all throwing me off Homewood. I never been to Homewood, bro. >> Okay. Well, I got you on video for the retail at Cole. You don't got me on video. >> I do. And this car. >> You don't got me on video. >> I do, ma'am. You got a nice uh mask on. >> Okay. So, what's up? What you here for? >> Okay. I >> I'm not trying to BE A HARD TIME, but I got my kids at the party. What's up? >> Do you have anyone? >> She used the vehicle as a barrier to resist police approach and also used her family members as a reason to create complications. Even when she was taken outside, she still made everything more tense. >> I call somebody for my kids. They find >> Okay, ma'am. If you want to do the headlines, [laughter] >> I'm not walking nowhere. I can take the key. >> No, put the head back. No. >> No. I'm not doing nothing. >> Okay, then. Stop resisting. Take the phone. Take the I'm sit down. Either way, you're going to go in handcuffs. She can keep making calls and we will be fine. Okay. >> Just put your hand. Ma'am, don't make don't make it in front of your kids. >> Ma'am, do not Calm down. COME HERE. I'M NOT DOING NOTHING. Come here. >> Don't do this in front of your kid. >> I'm not. I'm not. Come here. >> Just put your hands on your back. Let them do it. >> Just let put your handcuffs and har. We will figure that out. >> Okay. Come here. COME HERE. HELP [screaming] ME. >> NO. HELP ME. >> HEY, can you get your brother away from >> Let me go. Please. And I'm going to charge you a child endangerment. Let go of your kids. >> Your kids, they will they will come with us. Stop it. >> She showed no concern for how her actions might affect her family. Everything was done to obstruct the police. Even when officers attempted to separate her from the situation, it still proved unsuccessful. >> I'm not trying to resent it. >> Drink it. Drink it. Drink it. [screaming] >> Ma'am, look at the way you're dragging your kid. All right. You're going to get child neglect now, TOO. >> OKAY. IT'S ALL ON body camera. Everything you're doing, baby. >> Everything you're doing is on body camera. >> Come on, baby. >> You just put your kid in danger. >> You drag them and you to the feeder and arrest. >> Tell me, baby. >> I'm not resisting. I just >> You are. You just resist it. You resist it and then you use your kids to do it, too. Either way, you're going to jail in handcuffs. >> Okay. >> Well, I'm not going nowhere. I'm not going. >> Okay. But you're not going in handcuffs like we asked you to. So, you already got resisted. >> Okay. >> Stand right here. >> I've never tried to go nowhere. >> Doesn't matter. You're not putting your arms behind your back. That is resisting. Okay. All we want to do is put your hand gloves and we will stand here calmly while your kids are here and let them continue making phone calls for you. >> My phone is dead. >> Okay. Again, it's called chargers. Okay. We could work something out because we want your kids taken care of, too. But you doing this is not helping anything at all. It's actually making things a lot worse. >> When I sat in that car, I was calling my mom. I just wanted somebody to get the kids. >> We would love for that to happen too. You understand what I'm saying? Okay. We would love for that to happen, too. But I need you in handcuffs. Okay, we will stand here leaning up against your car. >> You said my car is wanted, then you just said I'm like, do you want the car or do you want me? >> Like what? You said you wanted the car, bro. >> Like what did I do? I'm retailer. >> How long did she go to jail? How long is she going for? >> I'm coming back tomorrow, baby. Don't >> man, if you're in handcuffs, we don't have to keep holding you. >> I mean, I'm not going nowhere. I'm sitting on the ground >> again. But again, you are resisting arrest right now. >> I swear that's all I was trying to do with a situation like But here's the thing. More officers are coming now because they're not in handcuffs. Once they come here, they're going to >> She even began portraying herself as the victim, acting as though she was the one who needed police assistance. >> 911, >> call 911. >> Please do. >> Matter of fact, don't call. >> Tell them to hurry up. >> Don't call them to hurry up. >> Don't call. >> Yeah, don't call. Matter of fact, >> why? Cuz I want to know. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> It's you. Glad you say state of Illinois. Okay. We have authority in the state of Illinois. Okay. >> Can't go over state lines to grab someone, but we go anywhere throughout the state. >> Okay. So, again, if you could please So, you could calmly do whatever you want and have your kids hug you without us. >> If I put the phone on, you have to feel resist. >> This is not really. >> Yes. Cuz now we're doing all this and we've been on body camera for this long. There's no way we couldn't charge you with resistance. >> Oh, I'm sorry. Bro, you wasn't just doing that. Calm down. Okay. Why you do, bro? WHY YOU [screaming] WHY YOU WHY YOU CALM DOWN? Calm down. [screaming] >> We don't want you to get hurt or anything. Okay. Can you move? >> Well, that's what happens when you deal with your kid. >> I don't like you. >> I've been doing this with you for 15 minutes. Let go of your kid. We'll let him continue to hug you. >> Stand up again. You're using your kid, >> bro. I'M TELLING HIM TO GET UP. SHUT YOUR UP. I'M TRYING TO BE NICE NOW. >> All right. Now, >> shut your up. You talking about you. I've been nice this whole time. >> It's good, baby. I'm right here. She's not going anywhere until grandpa gets here. Okay. >> Even when the police confirmed her involvement in the offense, she still attempted to deny it. >> Got tough when they got here. >> That's what I said was going to happen. >> Told you that was going to happen. >> They didn't need to help you. You just got tough when I got here. I don't like you, bro. You said a [ __ ] though. >> Yes, exactly. You're under arrest for a retail theft. >> Why do you think it was me, though? >> Cuz I told you I got surveillance video. >> I'm not going to jail, bro. I'm just going to the station. That's not jail. Okay. That's not jail. I'm not going to jail. >> Is it my address on it? So, if it was put in my box, it's going to be with my mail. >> I don't get to take nobody's mail. >> If it's in my box, >> if it's in my mailbox, if it don't got my name on it, >> I don't get to take it. I didn't open it. >> It's going to be in your mail. >> It got to come out my mailbox, bro. I'm not going to leave it in my mailbox. >> You drive around with it in your car. >> I obviously never opened the mail. It's clearly all together. I took it out the mailbox and put it in my car. I never looked at it. That's why I just said, "Can I get it?" Cuz I don't know what it is. >> I'm not tripping about not having nobody else's mail, sir. Stop talking like a baby. Okay. >> Yeah, they wet anyway, bro. Put them clothes in the car. You don't need >> I'm going use two grand forever. >> You need it? If you want to go get it, get it. The password 5683. >> You remember that? It's love. >> She was formally charged with retail theft and two counts of resisting a peace officer. The lesson from this situation is that resisting or prolonging an encounter after authorities already have sufficient evidence only makes the situation more serious and harder to control. >> Me a handcuff. >> What I'm going to do is I'm going to do this return for you. Okay. That's the only question I got. >> So, the reason >> on the 28th of August 2025, officers were dispatched to a Walmart after receiving reports of a man committing theft. And upon arriving at the scene, officers approached the man. But what happened next turned out to be far more unexpected. >> Don't need the [ __ ] >> We already got We already got >> Don't need the [ __ ] man. >> Damn. We got to go. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Yeah, we got to go. >> BACK 35 running BACK NOW. WE BOUGHT THAT. >> PUT YOUR HEAD LIKE THAT. >> WE BOUGHT IT. I promise we bought it. >> Where's he going? >> How about I bought it? I don't need to be se >> take the phones out oursel. >> Yeah. >> Hey, so y'all not going to run the receipt back? >> Huh? It's over there. Y'all got to run a receipt back. >> Chill, dude. We watch you on camera the whole time. Just stop. >> Okay. Doing what though? >> Stop. >> No. >> No. No. No. We going to wait. >> Bust a little bit. >> You'll be all right. >> Oh, I'm trying to stand up. >> The man attempted to deny fleeing when officers approached him. And not only that, he also denied the theft itself, making it a stubborn move despite knowing his escape had already failed. >> Oh, this a bought this [ __ ] I already bought them. It's on the receipt. >> Oh, the one you returned. Yeah. >> Can we uh >> just stop? Yeah. Yeah. We'll do it in there. We'll unhook him in there. We'll unhook him when we get inside. Man, bro. Like, y'all can talk to me about this [ __ ] >> Y'all trying to arrest me for what? >> Y'all trying to arrest me. Y give me a chance to show you. You talking about keep your hands behind your back. >> Not listen. We just follow. Yeah. Now, >> I was not Listen, my thing about it. I'm trying to explain to y'all. Y'all not trying to talk though. >> Can you tell them that we bought it, baby? Let it go. Let it go. Literally, let it go. Everything you don't want. >> I thought it was Patty though. I thought we could just bought this [ __ ] though. We could just pay for this [ __ ] I already bought no mother. >> All right. So, the reason why obviously we're making contact with you to >> is because you literally switched it. You put the the one that you purchased or whatever item that you had, you put it on the shelf, grab the new one, and returned it. That's fraud return. >> Oh, no, no, no. I was going to turn. I didn't I didn't want them declining me because of the and I got that already open. >> That's not how it works. >> Although he tried to appear calm, the man clearly showed anxiety on his face and even after being tased, he continued to deny his earlier actions. >> I'm not running from them. I'm just trying to talk to them. Ask them why are they trying to get me in handcuff. >> What I'm going to do is I'm going to do this for you. Okay. >> That's the only question I got. >> So the reason the reason >> No, I'm not mad at you. I'm I'm trying >> No, I'm trying to explain to him though. I'm not mad I'm not mad at you. [laughter] I'm I'm just saying that I was trying to ask a question and they trying to arrest me. >> No, they're trying to That's different. >> Yeah. Yeah, I saw you. The only you had yours, the one you purchased, you still trying to walk out with after you made a return. So that's the reason why we're making contact with you. >> Okay. >> And they're making contact. So it's still theft. See what I'm trying to say? >> So pay the >> So what I'm trying to know, Mr. What I'm trying to explain to you, I heard you under arrest and I'm trying to explain to y'all the situation back >> and I'm thinking that's under arrest though. But I'm trying to explain to you over them though. You didn't even give them a chance to listen. >> And I understand that I'm trying >> and I'm trying to I'm trying to explain and I'm trying to explain to them though. That's what I'm trying to explain on my mindset where my head was at. I'm trying to explain to y'all where my head at though. I didn't know that. I'm thinking under arrest for what? My question is for what? Can I explain myself? We going to talk? And so as I try to explain myself, y'all talking about what the y'all tackling me. >> It could be said that the man was attempting to manipulate the situation in multiple ways. From trying to justify himself to portraying himself as a victim, but the officers remained firm in their stance. >> What am I getting arrested for? >> Well, you didn't. That's telling me that you didn't want to talk to begin with. >> How if I'm asking questions and in the process of moving away and I'm asking questions, y'all supposed to talk. >> If y'all say, "Hey, we need to bring you over here to talk." I was already walking that way. Somebody grabbed me talking about arrest. where they said, "Hey, they they literally grabbed you." You >> and I was moving with him, but he tried to put me in handcuffs for what? >> Never been in here, >> but we were talking, but we're going to talk. Where am I going to handcuff for? You get what my mind said that if we going to talk already get loud with him? >> No. Ask him. Mr. Bowers, when you first walked up to me, was I loud? >> Was I rowdy? >> No, but what you did was still wrong. >> No, I'm not I'm not defending that though. >> Yeah, I'm just saying what you did is still wrong. Yeah, I'm not defending that at all though, but I'm talking about the the part after that. Can you can you go this step up for me, please? >> We going to have any more issues? >> Just the right one. >> No, of course not. No, no. I told you I explain to y'all I explain I already explained to y'all by the way. >> You know what I'm saying? I explain to you. >> I'll explain to you. Not trying to resist >> I'm going to read you Miranda and then if you want to provide us with the statement, you can. Okay. >> What are you on probation for? >> Huh? >> What you on probation for? >> Oh, just driving. >> Just driving. >> Yes, sir. driver license suspended. >> He completely immersed himself in a naive act of pretending innocence. And shortly after the officers explained what consequences he would be facing. >> So even if I'm even if I'm explaining to you guys that I was not trying to run away. I'm just trying to ask why am I being arrested? >> Detaining you. Okay. >> I didn't know why. I didn't know why though. >> But I'm trying to but when I was trying to ask you you started yanking on me tight. I'm like what the why? >> Cuz I'm trying to ask a question. I ain't think I had to be under arrest first then ask my question. >> That's that's all I'm saying though. That's all I'm saying though. I didn't know that. That's where we're at. Okay. For resisting without violence and pay. Okay. Uh you're being trespassed for well both you being trespassed for period 2 years. You're not coming on this property in the next few years or you being placed under arrest for warrant. All right. That means the property all the way out to uh 19. you doing like the chilies and stuff like that, but you cannot hang out on the propert. >> So, if I'm sitting here explaining to them that I only was trying to ask a question and not trying to resist, then why they can't why we can't have that conversation. All that conversation on I'm explaining to them that was not my intention. My intention, you got to understand, I'm coming out of the store and I'm being I'm being asked to get in handcuffs. But my question was why? Soon as I asked why, he he r he roughed me up. I'm not even I'm not even doing nothing. I'm asking a question. He said walk to the My first statement was walk here. I'm on the verge of walking here. He grabbed me. Talking about you got to get here. Two of us now. On the one person getting grounded talking about being put on in pit in handcuffs. >> Two people being trespassed. >> They're saying they were that you were detained. >> I didn't I'm saying but soon as soon as I asked why it was about >> They're saying you're detained. >> You resisted at some point. >> Okay. And we're not going to have court in here. >> No. No. They're saying you resisted without violence >> by trying to pull away or whatever whatever occurred. >> In the end, he was charged with secondderee petty theft and resisting an officer without violence. Small, calculated dishonesty can quickly spiral into serious legal consequences, especially when paired with denial and resistance instead of accountability. >> We got into an argument and of course he starts up. I'm recording you. >> You look crazy. You looking crazy. >> Did you lunge at him and fight with him over his phone? Yes, I tried to fight for his phone because he was trying to record me. >> On the 26th of April, 2026, police received a report of a domestic violence incident. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and found a woman in a state of panic. Let's see what happened. >> It looks like I'm a problem. >> Who you talking to? >> My cousin. >> Okay, let's hang up. We can call her back. >> Let's take Let's take a deep breath. >> I know. Let's take a deep breath. >> You don't know. >> Okay. Okay. Hold on. Hold on. Let's take a deep breath. Try to gain some composure here for a second. You're all right. You're here with us. What happened? >> My [laughter] boyfriend did the same [ __ ] to me. He stumped me the past 2 years, which is gaslighting me and made me look crazy, but it's all out of reaction again. And I know it is. And I'm so frustrated by it. I tipped the band money and he got mad about it. >> Okay. >> So then he after leaving me, he came back in and said I can either leave with him or stay. And I said I'm going to stay. Like I did. >> Where were you? >> He chose. >> Okay. >> And I said, "I'm going to stay. I'm not going to be controlled anymore." So he said, "Fine, I'm going to throw your [ __ ] out." So I kick back and all my room I don't know I the room I go away. [laughter] >> So then you guys get like in an argument or something and then >> Yes. We got into an argument and of course he starts out I'm recording you. >> You look crazy. You looking crazy. >> Did he threaten to hurt you at all? >> Not this time. All the time >> like previously but but just now he didn't threaten to hurt you at all. >> This time it was I mental hospital. >> You have your ID on you? >> Yeah. I don't want to press charges. >> The woman claimed she was the victim of a man who manipulated her psychologically. But soon after, she also admitted that she had acted in ways she should not have. >> He recorded he said that he started recording after I shoved him. And I know that I did shove him because he started saying all these things to me and I was like, are you kidding me again? >> So you pushed him is what you're saying? >> Yes. >> Okay. I'm going to jail now. >> Oh, just find your idea. I just don't know what to do. Everybody told me I shouldn't get back with him and then I >> Okay. Well, some relationship advice. I was engaged for 2 years. Nobody knows your relationship like you do. Okay. >> And I shouldn't go back with him. >> Okay. >> And I don't want to go to jail. I'm so >> You're not going to go to jail. [laughter] >> But what if he says that I pushed on? You guys believe me? And then this is going to make me go to jail. >> It's not about believing. It's about >> You saw what happened with Taylor that girl. Everybody believed her and then they made her go to jail. >> It sounded Listen, >> I'm so frustrated. Everybody was right. Everything he was saying. >> That doesn't matter right now. >> Melissa, that doesn't matter right now. Like whatsoever. >> Listen to me, please. I know you're scared. I know you're frustrated. I get all the things. It's all right. >> I call that a frustration. >> I need you. I need you to listen. Okay. We take both sides. You're leaving. Okay. So, we're going to All we attempt to do is make sure everybody's safe. We separate the parties. Okay, you're obviously leaving. We're going to go up and talk to him. What I need you to do now is get on your phone and try to find another hotel because we the only thing I care about is your safety and where you're going to stay after this. >> He's going to say it's on my phone because at the end I'm fighting with him for his phone. So he's it's all going to be on me and then I'm listen proof. He says it's on video that I'm fighting with him for his phone and look at me. >> We're going to deal with that later. If that's the case, we'll deal with it later. Has he been drinking? >> Is he drunk? He's been drinking the same as I have. So, yes. >> All right. So, we're gonna have a cop come. We're gonna I guess keep it down here. >> Yeah. >> We'll have somebody stay with him. We'll go up. >> He's going to take care of you for now. Okay. While we go up, >> we show you. I don't want >> You can show off. >> Through the story from her own testimony, it could be seen that she was the one who escalated the situation to make it more dramatic in order to blame her boyfriend. She even further admitted that she was the one who started it first. >> Physical. >> But I pushed him. I mean push him. It's not like if he was approaching me and he just push him. It's >> I don't know what I should have shoved him but I'm just >> I mean he was he was approaching me. So I went to grab his phone >> and then I started to grab his phone and then we fought about his phone and then he was like look at what she did to my hands and I was like look what you did to my hands over it. So isn't that just as bad? Aren't I the bad guy? I've seen the video recordings about that girl. Aren't I going to be the one in trouble now? >> Did he ever touch you before you pushed him or did he Was he just >> Not tonight. >> Okay. So, after you shoved him, then what happened? >> Then he grabbed his phone saying, "See, she just shoved me. She just shoved me." After he said things to me again, like he has the past 2 years. >> After you shoved him, he didn't shove you back or touch you. >> No. And then after that, we had a conversation and then it was, "See, she's fighting me about my phone. See, she did this to me. See, she did that. But never mind the fact that the past two years I have literal text of him saying, "I want to hire somebody to beat the out of her. I want to fly down there and slap the out of her." >> Well, did you call or did he call? >> I called cuz he kept telling me. >> He kept telling you to call. >> Yes. >> For what? >> Because if I have such a problem with the police because he's kicking me out of his hotel room that he paid $10,000 for for the whole weekend for his birthday. after we broke up a month ago because I was finally done with this [ __ ] and he hasn't changed. I And now he's saying I'm drunk. I have an alcohol issue. I don't have an alcohol issue. I've never ever >> The woman's statements ultimately became self-inccriminating. So, the officers reverified the facts once more before proceeding with their decision. >> So, they're they're going to be very direct questions. Did you hit his phone out of his hand? >> Yes, I grabbed it and I went to pull it out. >> After you did that? >> Yes. Did you lunge at him and fight with him over his phone? >> Yes, I tried to fight for his phone because he was trying to record me after he didn't even tell me he was recording me. >> But listen, he's got an injury to his right forearm. In the state of Florida, battery, whether domestic or not, which in this case is domestic, is an unwanted touch or strike. Okay? He didn't want you to hit his phone, and he didn't want you to lunge at him to get to get his phone. So, you're going to be under arrest for battery. Okay? Now, listen. Listen. I understand everything you said beforehand. It's documented. Okay. But because of your actions hitting him and struggling with him over the over the phone, we have enough probable cause to arrest you for battery. You understand that? Do me a favor and turn around. Put your hand behind your back. Don't struggle with me, Melissa. Just >> turn around. >> Don't try to run. >> We're going to handle that here in one second. Okay. >> Um, where's Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. I didn't know. >> So, listen, listen, listen. >> We're going to go to the jail, okay? You're listen. You're going to see a court or you're going to see a judge in the morning. >> In the morning? >> Yes. In the morning. Okay. What we're trying to do here is help you out by putting all of your stuff in your car. Why didn't you give us this one then when you had it and said you didn't have it? >> Despite all her efforts, none of the woman's pleas were granted. Yet, even in the patrol car, she continued offering new excuses, leaving it unclear whether it was just more deception. >> And I can't miss work. Sir, can I don't want to take my baby through this. Can you give me a chance, sir? Excuse me, sir. Can you give me another chance, please? >> Please, sir. Please don't do this. Please, can you give me one more chance? Please, can you not do this? I don't I guess I don't look like a person who would buy $800, $900 computer and I apologize for that. >> But it kind of makes me not even want to shop here. I go to the same time. I'm not an angel. Don't get [ __ ] up. I'm from New Jersey, >> right? >> But okay, she she looked at the receipt. She took the thingy off of it. I didn't even have to go to customer service. I walked to customer service. I get to the door here. Loss prevention stops me. She goes to the camera. She says, "Okay, everything's perfectly fine." >> She says, "Sorry, sir. You have a wonderful day. >> Is that Richard? Is that from from Walmart or is that a different >> No, this is this is from here too, but I bought this in different um department. I got the luggage at the uh register with the computer. I got this. They made me buy this from electronics cuz the guy said that he gets um he gets commissions. >> So, I'm like, "Okay, I got something on my mind right now." >> So, I'm like, "Whatever, man." Okay. >> So, I got this one that electronics and the lady took my rece. >> Okay. >> Come on, man. I ain't bothered nobody, man. Why let me walk out of there if it was a problem? And why? I'm standing there. There's nobody blocking the door. But all y'all went in the room to see if I paid for this. >> None of the man's stories convinced the officers, pushing him to the point where he even used the weather as an excuse to make his situation seem more difficult. Now it's raining on the >> It's not It's not actually raining. It's just from the tree. >> This is an expensive unit. I don't play computers. >> I take these apart and swap them for the aftermarket pieces, >> okay? >> And then I sell them on marketplace, >> okay? >> For damn near almost the same price that they sell on retail. And then I take the high-end GPUs out of there and I put it in a less quality product and I'll resell that, too. >> That's my business. Okay. >> I play with electronics. >> Did you pay with this for this with cash or with >> I pay with cash. I came here with cash. >> Okay. >> That's why I keep a locked money bag. If I make a big purchase, I come here with my money bag. Why? Because >> I don't have to flip burgers. But I still work for my money. >> All of these are flipped. >> I can take this apart and go to any computer store and get a dumbass computer and swap out the whole RAM and everything. The Ram alone is worth a few hundred. >> Okay. >> It has a liquid coolant system inside of it. How much you think that's worth? >> I do. >> That's worth enough for me not to want any of this to get wet. This is a computer monitor. It's temperature control parts inside of this monitor. >> Okay. >> Now, I'm standing out here in the rain because I spent more than $1,000. And then the lady at customer service looked at the receipt and looked at me. And then the people here went into a room and told me to HAVE A NICE DAY. AND NOW I'M GETTING STOPPED by the police. So that's why I'm disgruntled. >> Come on, man. I voluntarily stopped every time. Come on. This is stupid. >> That's dumb. >> Once that figured it out, man. >> It's not. It's deeper than that. You know how this feels? >> You don't think? Okay, cool. Let's say we resolved this, >> right? >> I'm the black guy that got stopped in a [ __ ] Walmart by three officers. You don't think that's embarrassing? >> The man stubbornly insisted he was innocent and claimed he had a receipt to prove it. But it seemed the store had a very different version of the story. >> Okay. So, what's going on there with him now? >> That is the fake receipt that he has. I received it's not a real >> receipt. He said he said that um he just talked about prevention. He said that he's fine to go and >> cuz we were trying to catch him up on the fact that he's trying to leave with a false receipt. He's done this before. He did it before. So, we let him go with the receipt, but we were on the phone with you guys and they were telling borrow you out. I could only stall him for so long. >> No, I got you. I just want to make sure that what you're saying is >> Yeah. No, that's the office. He wouldn't come in the office. >> You wait in here and he refused. >> Yeah, he would. So when you look up the camera to see it's not there was no camera footage for that time and date that was it says they use that register 19 at like hour 1870. I pulled the camera back as quickly as possible to look it nothing has occurred there and you can see the receipt the back of the receipt doesn't have any printing or anything on the back of it. It's not I can show you our receipt paper on the cameras getting the items and bringing them back. >> Correct. Yes. >> Okay. He didn't bring them back in. He went and got them. >> He went he went and got them and brought them in. So he came here earlier today with a white female. Um, he was in electronics taking pictures of these same items that he has now. He was taking pictures of the UPC's and they were buying printer paper, >> but they bought the printer paper. >> They bought the printer paper and he bought something else. Same exact >> UPC's, correct? Of these same items so that he could go home and make the receipt and come back in. >> So, he made the receipt at home. >> Yeah, >> he they're pretty good. >> The second time that he's been caught with a fake receipt. So, the last time was by one of our door greeters. Um, she had asked for the receipt and it had the incorrect store manager name on it. It actually had two store manager names on there. She was like, "Hey, I can't verify this. Do you want to wait while I get it verified?" He said, "No." And he left. >> And then the second time, >> you look at that one. Does that one have any flaws on it or >> The name is correct on it this time? >> I didn't look at that. >> Does it usually say Natasha Grant or just Natasha? >> Natasha Grant. >> It just said Natasha on it. >> It doesn't full name. It is the address. >> And you can tell up at the top like it's not perforated like our receipts are supposed to be. And there is nothing on the back side of this. >> Okay. >> With that amount of testimony from the staff, it was already clear how everything had unfolded. And at that point, the officers took action along with a clear explanation of their decision. >> Can you do me a favor? >> I'm under arrest now. >> Trying to be under. >> Wait, I'm I'm not I'm not struggling. I'm asking why am I under arrest and can you please explain that? >> All right. So, basically, they don't you didn't pay for them. All right. Sir, >> so the receipt that you showed them, it wasn't there's no automatic receipt. Sir, I showed them the receipt and they took the receipt from me. >> Okay. So, here's here's what >> sir, I I here's here here's the deal, right? So, we're going to go ahead and review the camera still. Right. >> PLEASE DO THAT NOW. YOU'RE YOU'RE PUTTING ME IN. THIS IS >> YEAH. >> This is wrong. >> Yeah. Right now, you're being detained. Okay. >> Sir, can you please Sir, >> can you listen up? >> I'm being detained? >> Yeah. >> So, >> am I under arrest? >> You're being detained right now. 10 once we review the cameras and then see everything that they have. If they see you pay for they have cameras all over the store. You knew that, right? >> Yes, sir. >> They're going to review to see where you made your purchase. >> I made my purchase in the front. >> Okay. So, >> and now they selfch checkout. >> Okay. You make your purchase in the front. They're going to >> have nothing on me, sir. >> They're going to check that to see if >> they're going to see if they if in fact you make a payment. If you make the payment >> Can I ask you a question, though? >> Yeah. >> Why Why detain me if I'm not under arrest? And I'm not being >> well. >> I'm not dealing with you in a hostile way. >> Okay. But the investigation is still ongoing. Okay. >> At that point, the receipt had been collected by the officers and everything matched what the staff had described. Yet, he still tried to deny it all now with a noticeably suspicious panic demeanor. >> But I am not under arrest. I will stand here with you. >> Let me I'm asking you. I'm not under arrest and I'm being detained. >> Now, please just stand here. 8. >> Yeah, >> sir. I'm asking you may I can I'm not under arrest. >> And if I am under arrest, sir, that's perfectly fine. >> I'm not struggling at all. Am I fighting you? Is there any resistance? >> Sir, just have us sit down till we figure everything out. All right. >> You don't understand. >> That was >> I Sir, please. I'm not under arrest. Why are you putting >> Watch out, sir? What's up, >> sir? Why? I'm not struggling you. Can you >> No, you're not. >> Can someone talk to me rationally instead of just easing me into a car? >> Yeah. Um, Ronnie, right? >> Yes, sir. >> All right, Ronnie, here's the thing. Yeah, that's your receipt for my dinner that you paid. But >> that's because I paid for some of those items in a completely different line. >> And that's what we're going to go look at. >> Okay. So, when they look when you show them the receipt, >> an officer, stay with me and just let me sit here. I don't want to get into a You're not understanding what I'm telling you. This gives me a lot of anxiety, man. You don't know what I've been through in my life. >> I got you. You don't know. Just let me sit here and if I'm under arrest, I will gladly put my feet in here. I have not struggled or fought you or ran or nothing. >> I got I got you. >> All right. Thank you. >> Um, so the receipt, this receipt is for the luggage and the >> and the the tablet. Yes. The >> keyboard, right? And the keyboard. >> Yes. >> As far as the >> That was a separate purchase, sir. That money was That money was separate. >> And that's the one that you paid for at the at the register. >> Yes, ma'am. The man was ultimately charged with grand theft and the use of a fraudulent receipt. >> That in Australia? >> Uh, >> did you did you ever do that in Australia? >> Just not to explain yourself. It's okay. Just relax. Take a deep breath. All right. >> On the 17th of October, 2024, police officers approached several suspects in the parking lot of Walmart on suspicion of shoplifting. And at the scene, one of them admitted to the act. >> Where you from? >> Uh, like >> what country? originally from India but living in Australia at the moment. >> Australia? >> Yeah. >> So you do that in Australia? >> Uh >> did you did you ever do that in Australia? Just take stuff without paying for anything? >> No. >> Okay. So if you don't if you don't do that over there, what makes you think you do this here? >> It doesn't make sense, right? >> Good. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Let's head back. >> So you've been here less than a month. >> Yes. >> And you're pulling stuff like this. >> Yeah. That's not a good start to your stay here in the United States. >> I don't think it is. >> Do you have a Is there a third person with you >> other than you and the young lady in the office? >> Yeah, sister. >> Your sister's here in Walmart? >> Yeah. >> Where is she at? >> No idea. >> You don't know? >> Immediately afterward, police quickly located another suspect and promptly escorted her into the loss prevention office at Walmart. Come here. >> Take a seat. >> Hold on. Hang on. Hold on. Hold on. >> You can decide it. >> Stand out here with both of them. I'm going to interview the other one first. Okay. >> Do you guys have IDs? >> I not the passport. >> Okay. >> So, did you explain a little bit what was what happened to the other officer? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> That was not like something not planned. We just have to give to somebody as a gift. That what we stolen as a stuff, not nothing else. We just we just have to give somebody as a gift. Some chocolates and something. So that's why we just stole it. That's just some of the salt of money. So >> nothing else we just stole. >> I got you. I understand. But you got to keep this in mind. >> Yeah, I know. But a gift >> is going to be given to somebody from you, not from another person. >> That's what that's what you guys are trying to keep doing. >> Absolutely. I'm really really sorry about that. Both individuals laughed as they admitted their crimes as if it were nothing serious at all, forcing the officers to spell out the consequences they could potentially face. >> At the end of the day, >> it's still a crime. You guys understand it, right? >> Okay. >> The worst that could happen, >> you guys go to jail, >> the best that could happen is that you guys have to just go home and >> we go from there. No, I don't. >> I wasn't trying to. >> Put him on the table for me >> and switch. I'm going to talk to man 819 trying to show the >> So yeah, the worst that could potentially happen like I'm like like I said, it's either jail time, you might spend maybe a day or two, >> but the best that could happen is you guys go home and then you guys have you know, a court date. >> How long have you been here in the United States? >> Two and a half years. >> Two and a half years. Is this the first time you've ever been in trouble? >> I I don't buy this much. I'm normally buying $30. I have all the time, you know, 30. >> Not to explain yourself. It's okay. Just relax. Take a deep breath. All right. I know it's a first thing. We've So, you've never You guys never been in trouble with law enforcement, right? >> Never. >> Okay. Every attempt to change the outcome collapsed in front of the nononsense cop. And in reality, they had more than enough money to pay for their items. >> Um, your husband was saying that you guys had like $200 or $300, >> right? >> Sorry. >> Your husband was saying that you guys had like $200 or $300. >> Yeah. Okay. >> But I'm going to pay because I have a car. >> Whatever you had that you paid for, that's what you're taking home. Anything else? >> Yeah. number. >> Watch. Switch. >> Just step back here. >> Hang out right here. >> Both of you guys can hang out on that side. >> They're here for vacation. >> He's here for a vacation. Yeah. >> How long are you going to be here? >> No, they are going they have to tomorrow. >> Tomorrow. >> Tomorrow is your last day? Yeah. >> Okay. So, you're flying back. >> All right. You guys seem like it's just a lapse of judgment, right? So, that's the thing. And and it's unfortunate. I get it. But is it worth it? Right. >> It's not a lapse of judgment. It's $397. >> I don't mind that. >> So, $397. That's a lot of stuff. You've never been in trouble with law enforcement. Is that correct? No. >> No, you haven't. Or yes, you haven't. >> Have you been in trouble >> like this? >> Yes. >> No, I don't. >> Okay. Have you been in trouble in general? >> Yeah. >> No. >> So hopefully that should help a little bit. Um, but she'll let you know what happens next. I can't. And me, if I was in charge of this investigation, I'm just being honest with you guys, all three of you would go to jail. Nice as me, but I'm not in charge. >> I'm not in charge. Just so you know. Okay. I'm not. Just keep that in mind. I'm not in charge. >> As for the woman in the pink dress, officers evaluated the specific circumstances of the incident and she ended up with a separate outcome from the other two. >> Right now, you take their stuff. You guys are cool with her taking whatever is your bags. >> Okay. You take your bags, your groceries that you paid for, and you go home and you wait for them to give you a call and tell you to pick them up. And then you have to come with money because you can't steal them out of jail. You're going to have to bring money, bail them out, and then they can go home and they'll give the the court and the correction side will give you guys instructions as far as what they need to do with the charges, and then yours will come in the mail later. Okay. Any questions for me? So, I'm waiting for the call on you right now. >> You they'll give you a call when they're when they're ready to be picked up. They'll call you from the jail. I have your number and I'll give it to them >> from for for today. >> I already told you 10 times. I don't know when. It doesn't matter when they were leaving because you guys decided to do your your commit your crime. So, the crime the plane isn't going to stop because you guys decided you wanted to steal and then they've been arrested. Your plane if they miss it, they miss it. that that's it is what it is. You have to reschedule it. Okay? So, you can leave and they're not trespassing you or anything like that. Just pay attention for that. Okay? >> Trespass me. >> No, you're not trespassed. You're not trespassed. But what I'm saying is you can now grab your stuff and go. I'm going to deal with them. Have a good day. Go ahead. >> Yeah, she got the keys. Go. you standing here is is making me take longer with them. Go. >> In the end, they were charged with petty theft. However, the charges were later dismissed after each completed a pre-trial diversion program. This case showed that excuses and laughter could not erase responsibility because even a small theft could still lead to arrest, legal consequences, and long-term trouble. >> Threshold of theft, >> it goes up. >> Yeah, I it's above [music] 20. So right now you're looking at you're looking at one count of grand theft and one count of organized fraud. So those are both felonies. >> On the 8th of October 2025, officers were dispatched to a store after receiving reports of a theft. The suspect was believed to be an employee who had been stealing over the course of a month. To clarify further, listen to the statement from this employee. About 40 grand in total, >> correct? >> Over the space of a month? >> Yep. >> I assume you guys have like all the video in there. Yeah, we downloaded the whole month's worth of video. Um, every day that he closed and any day that he went into the cash office, we went ahead and put it into a report. >> Um, we can give that to you guys. >> Yeah. You guys ever um taken a report with us before? If I send you a link? >> Yeah. Act on a link. Yeah. I'll be able to send it right over. >> I figured. >> The suspect was identified as Abdul Ahmed, an employee who had worked there for 5 months. Before making any decision, officers contacted the loss prevention department to determine the next course of action. >> Hi, how are you? Good, good, good. Um, I spoke with your LP officer and he gave me the, uh, information and with that, uh, our procedure is to call our detective DUR due to the, uh, threshold of the, uh, theft and apparently $40,000 being taken care of. After speaking with him, he said, "You guys can do your interview and termination, and we'll get his information, the LP's information, and we're going to forward it up uh to our detective bureau, and tomorrow morning they're going to give a call, and they're going to do their own investigation." [snorts] >> Got it. >> Okay. >> Just never had that happen usually. >> Yeah. I would love to make the I love I would love to make the arrest, but our procedure is to call the detective bureau. And with that, I did. and uh he uh he told me to go this route. So that's where we're at. And that's a sergeant with the uh our detective bureau. >> Got it. Um >> it's not it's not uh it's not that it's not going to be investigated. You guys can still trespass them and everything. We're going to have all his information. We just want to get all our ducks in a row [music] and with all the videos cuz over the span of a month. So the detective bureau would handle that and make sure the PC fits the $40,000 in each time and the days corroborate along with the money being taken. >> So because normally like with any type of theft, we have all the video of him doing it. >> Yeah, I completely understand that. >> I completely but that's where that's where we're at right now with the uh my supervisor in the detective bureau. That's what he's advis. [music] saw him live doing. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So, you have all the videos already? >> Yeah, we have all like I was in the middle right now starting up. >> To support their statements, footage believed to be evidence of his actions was presented. >> I don't want to have to call it. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. I'll do that. >> All right. And then I guess let me know when the interview started. >> Okay. Perfect. Okay. >> All right. >> Thank you. >> Bye. Yeah. So, let me >> Yeah. So, configure everything. And once he realized that, we were able to put the camera perfectly to see him consuming into his concealing into his. >> You understand where we're coming from? Okay. If it was during the day, the Dur is highly accessible. Yeah. >> They would come out to this. I just spoke to the supervisor again. This is a ro road patrol issue to a point. Okay. This is a lengthy investigation. This is over dates and times. This is sitting down for multiple hours. It's not on your part. It's on their the detective per because they got to review their videos. They got to write each date and time, >> each increment, and that takes a while. If he [music] takes, listen, we have task force. We have that's a felony warrant. He will be picked up. Okay. >> Right. So then even if we're going based off of what we were able to see yesterday that was like a,000. >> Yeah. But they wanted they don't want to arrest him on just that one theft. They wanted to arrest him on the $40,000 cuz there's a threshold of theft. It goes up. >> Yeah. I I It's above 20. it the 50 becomes a first degree. >> I get Yeah, I get what you're saying. >> With losses reaching $400, this showed the case had become extremely serious. At that point, officers in the loss prevention team outlined the consequences he would have to face. >> Sorry, she's just going to say her little. >> All right, um unfortunately we have the for girls misconduct. Um, at this time if you could just give us everything that belongs to your keys, your name badge, um, anything else that you may have that >> Oh, just sorry. Use that. >> Thank you. >> And then after um you could get your belongings in your office area. >> Oh, no, no, no. It's just right there. No, you're fine. You're fine. Don't worry about it. Just There you go. Date right there. You're good. Thank you. Okay. Um and then Perfect. Thank you. Thank you. Um they're just going to I you have >> Yeah. I'm not detaining you or anything. I'm just walking you out and you don't I'm not doing an investigation as of now. So Okay. >> All right. >> But don't be fooled. There will be an investigation. >> Oh, no. I understand. >> It is what it is. I got you, bro. So, I'm just uh verifying you leave without, you know, any kind of disturbance. >> Yes, sir. >> The man appeared extremely anxious about his fate. He was then released while the case continued to be investigated. On the 11th of February, 2026, officers approached his residence with answers regarding the case. >> Um, got his first helmet. Yeah. >> Yeah. Is he here? That's me. >> That's you. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, you used to work at Target, right? And then Okay. Here's the deal, bro. Um, I'm going to try to make this work for you. Okay. There's no rest for not for you right now. I don't want to take you right now. Okay. Yeah. >> All right. I know. >> Let's make it work so that you can turn yourself in for a day that's convenient for you up in Palm Beach. Okay. Then you can get processed and then once you're processed, um, you'll be released on a bond. Okay. So it's for everything that happened at Target. So right now you're looking at you're looking at one count of grand theft and one count of organized scheme fraud. So those are both felonies. He was ultimately charged with grand theft and organized fraud. Facing serious felony consequences for his actions. Bad decisions driven by short-term pressure can lead to long-term consequences. Owning up early and choosing integrity can make all the difference. See me break for something you never told me I had to do. Hey, >> you need to relax. >> When I asked you for >> On February 6th, 2026, deputies received a call from a hair salon reporting a woman who used their services and left without paying. Deputies quickly located the suspect, and this was what happened when they approached her. >> Stop. >> Yeah. >> Hold on. You're not going to leave. What's going on? Did you just go to the salon? What are you talking about? I asked her unexpected. I'm going back to Jamaica today. She said, "Okay, she can do it like that and then that was it." She never told me anything by paying or anything else. >> What's your name? Let's go with that. >> Why? >> Put the food down. Put the >> I'm hungry. >> Put it down, though. >> You can't arrest me. >> You're not free to leave. This is entertainment. It's an investigation. Okay. So, I need to figure out what happened. >> I just told you what happened. She didn't tell me to pay for anything. I asked her. I told her I was leaving today to go to Jamaica. >> Okay. Okay. >> And I told her that's what I was doing. And she said, "Okay, I can come and do it." But she never said nothing about pain. >> Come and do what? What did you get done? >> My braids. That was it. >> Oh, she did your braids? >> Yes. >> How long did that take? It >> didn't take that long. >> Okay. And so then you left? >> Yeah. >> Did she tell you you needed to pay? >> She never said it at first. No. When you tell somebody you have to pay, you have to tell them up front. You never told me that up front. >> No, but you wouldn't expect that you go to a business. >> You never She never told me that up front cuz I said by chance. Can you do it for me real quick, please? >> Got it. Okay. >> And she said, "Okay." And that was it. >> And for another picture, complain about. >> She believed she did not have to pay for anything. And even more shamelessly, she showed no concern for the situation, choosing to eat instead. >> I'm trying to eat my food. >> All right, just relax. You have any weapons on you? What's your name? >> Chardonnay. >> Chardonnay. What? >> Chardonnay? What? >> I'm trying to eat here. >> I know. Chardonnay. What though? What is it? >> Are you going to arrest me? >> No, no, no. I'm just putting It's cold out here. Chardonnay. >> Yeah. >> Like H A R. What you did at birth? right after she finished her meal. The deputies quickly took action. >> Just do me a favor. Turn that way. You're going to go in handcuffs right now. Okay. >> You're not under arrest right now, but you are going to be detained. Okay? So, just relax. >> You know, you can't arrest me, right? >> Why not? I'm paralyzed. >> Paralyzed? >> Yes. >> So, how's that possible? >> Can you just take me to go get my phone? >> If you don't, you just hold her for a second. Uh, and she's right there. I'm going to go talk to her. >> Shortly after, the deputies approached the salon employee and it appeared from her account that there was no indication the suspect didn't have to pay, contradicting the suspect's claims. >> So, we were closed. I was closing up, but she came in all like, um, my hair. I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow. like please. And I'm like, "Okay." So, I thought like I'll be nice cuz she seemed like desperate, whatever. Hey, if I cash your red card, she said, "Oh, I'll be back in 30 minutes." I said, "No, it's we we don't do that here. We're closed and we you know, you have to pay with your appointment." She said, >> "Oh, huh. Well, you never told me before that I'm going to have to pay." >> Okay. >> Why do I have to pay? And then I said, "Um, well, I'm going to need to like pay for this." And she's like, "Well, I'm going." And then she like bashes out the door. So I I left to to just video her so I have like know who she is. >> It's not It only has like the side of her cuz I I was behind her. >> Okay. >> All statements and evidence pointed to the suspect's shameless belief that she didn't have to pay. Even while sitting in the patrol car, she still insisted she wasn't going to jail. >> I'll crack the window. All right. >> No, cuz I'm not going to go to JAIL CUZ SHE NEVER TOLD ME NOTHING. >> NOT SAYING YOU'RE GOING to jail. >> I'm not saying you're going to jail. >> I just spend an hour with her. She'll definitely be trespassed. Um, but I I mean I can, like I said, I can ask her about the money. I But if she doesn't have it, I can't like force her. >> She's not gonna have money in her way. >> I I I doubt it. So, it's up to you. >> That part's up to you if you I would definitely have her trespass if she's seen around the shop. What's considered our property or is it >> uh whatever the like I would assume probably like your not really a sidewalk, but inside a shop at all. And if you get a video of that or picture, then she'll be arrested for that incident of trespassing. >> Well, she comes in the shop. That was what the store wanted for the woman. Yet, she still failed to recognize her wrongdoing, growing increasingly shameless with no sign of remorse. >> Please for me again. Please call for me again. >> This one. >> Why she never said, >> "Can you put my money in my and don't spend my money, please?" >> Keep your hands out of your pockets. >> I really don't give a damn. I do. >> Please stop grabbing my jacket. That's a dead person's jacket. >> Can I Can I ask you something? >> No. You know, I want to talk. >> Is ignorance a good uh defense in the law? Does a bank have a sign that says you can't rob You go to a place. >> I DID NOT DO NOTHING WRONG, SIR. OKAY. >> I asked her if she can do something for me cuz I'm GOING TO JAMAICA. I'M A FOOT away from you. >> In the end, she paid the price for her own lesson and was charged with theft of service.
