Enough. You don't have to get up. Get up. Get up. I wouldn't care about going to jail. I wouldn't care about going to jail. I wouldn't be begging you not to let me go. Like I do I feed him. I bathe him. If you're a shoplifter planning to cry or act angry just to escape the consequences, you should think [music] again because under the law those actions only count as resistance and can make the situation spiral even further like this. Here are the times when Walmart shoplifter didn't realize cops were waiting after stealing a full cart. We are This is law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Starting with a woman pretending to be pitiful to escape her crime. You can't take her child. I do everything for him. This ain't about being heartless, okay? No, I know that. All of this is going in the report. I don't care about her child, sir. You don't want to make this On the 19th of May, 2024, police received a call from Walmart reporting a theft that had occurred with the suspect identified as a 42-year-old woman who deliberately pushed an entire shopping cart filled with multiple unpaid items out of the store. This was what happened after police arrived at the scene. That's her purse? Yes, ma'am. That's her purse? >> Yes, ma'am. You can bring the purse in here without opening it first. Do you mind just grabbing me out Get rid of my um gloves. Do you have a Do you have an extra pair of gloves? Yeah, I got you. Thank you. Huh? You can go Oh, never mind. Ma'am. Can I have her purse? Um Can you just grab his receipts, whatever he has All right, cool. Drive over there. Take the daughter and take her to the car. Okay. All right. Um Can you do me a favor and get his phone number? That's it. And the And the kids They're staying with the baby. Yeah. Thank you. So it turned out she had committed her wrongdoing while out with her entire family, yet she showed no remorse as the police continued to find additional items inside her handbag. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt to be honest with me. I'm always going to be honest. I'm not going to lie. Is there anything on you, in your bag, anything else that's on face value? There's something in my bag. Anything on you? No. All right, can you stand up? I'm going to do a quick pat down. That's my baby. That's cool. All right, anything? No. Cool, cool. So can I go in your purse? Sure. And you said there were no other items that's not face value? All right, cool. Take this out. Is that Yeah, that's your daughter. Okay. All right, this? This? I couldn't write on that. I mean, sometimes All the evidence of the woman's crime was completely clear, yet she still seemed unable to grasp it. Even at this point, she continued asking naive questions about whether she was actually going to be charged or not. What are you going to I thought you were going to read me my Miranda rights. Um Good morning. I don't like to lie to people. Yes. Why? Okay. >> Can you not say you're going to give me like a notice No. >> you going to No. Can you get all of this This is the thing, man. Why I was honest I'm going to be honest with I was honest I know you were. Which is that's also going to be a factor. That's going to be a factor. >> where their car is? Okay. The guy was Why do I have to go to jail? My baby's in the car. Please, sir. The woman tried to make herself look pitiful by begging through claims about caring for her family, but in reality, it was far from the truth. Police quickly began noticing signs suggesting her condition may have been connected to drug use. That's a good question. I want you to be honest with me. >> will. Are you Are you a drug addict? I'm a ex-drug addict. I'm an ex-user. I'm a recovering addict. >> I know because I saw your picture and No, I know that. I'm a recovering I go to the methadone clinic now. She's She's She's going to search you. Your baby's going to be fine. I know, but I Please don't take my baby to jail. Please. Okay. Your baby's going to be fine. Why can't you give me a notice to appear? >> Cuz this is a >> know about a notice to appear? This is I know it's been No, you're good. A lot of this stuff What's up? What do you need? I take care of them. I take care of them at home. Like I'm the one that What's your name? What's your name? I get it. >> Ma'am, please. Hold on. Just turn around. I got my nails in my hair. Please. I take care of them. I'm like the caretaker of the house. I do everything for them. This This ain't about being heartless, okay? >> No, I know that, but I was very honest with you guys. >> I understand that, but I'm going to I'm going to keep it real with you. We have plenty of evidence. No, I know. I didn't I didn't lie. I didn't lie on I didn't lie about anything, though. I know you didn't. And guess what? That's going to go in the report. Well, why wouldn't you Why wouldn't you just give me a notice to appear? I take care of them, sir. >> the fact that you know about a notice to appear No, it's I know. I've been Do me a favor. Can you refer me? From the way she spoke, she clearly showed familiarity with the police process, proving this was far from her first encounter with crime. But this time, officers had to fully explain the seriousness of the offense she had committed. Hey, but this is But you got to stop doing this type of stuff. I haven't been in trouble in a long time, though. >> no offense. This is not personal. I know it's not. >> mad at you. It's not personal. But But But But >> It's very circumstantial them being at home. Like, I take care of them. You can't do that. >> to learn this stuff, Gina. You can't come in the store and take stuff, man. >> I'm the one that I'm the one that take And look at what you took. It wasn't like It wasn't like diap- you know She don't wear diapers. There's nothing on here this the soda, okay? That I get. Uh >> [music] >> potatoes >> soda. I paid for the potatoes. That's actually all I ever paid for. Everything else that you took was not was like non-essential stuff. >> it's not. So, that I have to take you. I understand. Trust me. I take care of them, sir. All of this is going in the report. I'm their caretaker, sir. You don't want to make this You don't want to make this harder than what it is. You just got to accept it. You got to accept it. >> No, why can't you just please give me one chance? >> No. >> Just for one night. >> No. He And he'll tell you, I give people chances all the time. >> you give me a chance? I have never seen me before, Mr. Pajita. You've never seen me before. >> worth of of non-essential items. Come on, man. It's under 300. It's not like I can't pay for it. >> It doesn't matter. See, the fact that you're saying That's very entitled. I know because I have a grand-daughter. That's why. That's only why. >> you do. Marion County, right? >> Yeah, but it's not from It's not from stealing anything from you. >> I understand that, but you haven't You got to learn your lesson. >> If I didn't have to take care of them, I wouldn't care about going to jail. I wouldn't care about going to jail, but I wouldn't be begging you not to let me go. Like, I take I feed him. I bathe him. I bathe him. >> 5 hours, you'll be able to bond out. 10% of what it is. >> up to a a bondsman. How's he going to get up there? I'm the driver. I do everything for him. I do everything for them, sir. He's on it. He said he's working on it. 154, go ahead. Begging you, sir. She was ultimately charged with petty theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after stealing nearly $185 worth of merchandise while shopping with her family. Her repeated offenses prove that ignoring small crimes only leads to bigger consequences, especially when your own family is forced to witness the downfall caused by your actions. Next, [music] what started as a theft case ended with police catching another suspect for a completely different crime. Where'd he go? That way. Oh, man. I'll go back. >> I'll be on it. He is my cousin. He's your cousin? He is my cousin, but I had no idea all this. On the 13th of September, 2025, police received a report of a theft in progress. The suspect was allegedly a man who stole $84.81 before jumping into a red Mazda driven by a woman. Police quickly moved in and stopped the vehicle. [screaming] Here was what happened next. Hey, the guy got out of the vehicle. Hi, can I see your license and registration proof of insurance, please? What happened here? Uh the guy who was in your car stole a bunch of stuff from Walmart and uh he ran away from the AP office. Okay, thanks. Okay. He was an Uber. You're an Uber driver? Yeah. Okay, do you have your insurance, please? Would you be able to provide us his info? Uh I mean, I can look on my Uber app and see if he's Yeah. I'm going to go check over there. Do you know where he ran into the store? The suspect allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby Menards to hide, and a team of officers was sent inside to search for him. Are you able to pull up cameras for me? We're looking for a guy who just bolted in here. Yeah. I Where is he at? Do you know where he's at? Okay. Let me go check. Yeah, he's outside by the lumber yard. How do I get there from here? Back of the store. He's back in? Well, how do I get He's going this way, sir. Where's he at? What? Where'd he go? That way. Okay. Well, I'm hopping in the truck. We got an officer inside if you guys end up finding out he's in there, okay? 9216 at Menards, employee told me he was running down Freedom northbound. The suspect was allegedly involved in more than just theft, because while fleeing, he left behind items inside the vehicle that could have led to even more charges against him. Any like weapons, drugs in the vehicle? No. There is weed he The officer said Okay. Oh, okay. So, he That's his? >> Yeah. Okay. All right. Yeah, it was like that was That was scary. I didn't know what the heck was going on. I didn't know. >> Okay. Please, I didn't know if he's seen somebody that enemy. I I really didn't know what was going on. Okay. So, this is his hitter pipe, and just left over >> weed. There's a grinder somewhere in here with weed in it, yeah. Okay. Oh, and then another one. Okay. I'm not sure if I'm not sure where it is. The grinder is mine now. >> Okay. Take all of that out. That's fair. Are you pregnant? >> Yes. Okay. So, you purchased something while you took someone else from an Uber ride to your Walmart? >> was I He was being picked like I was picking him up from Walmart. That was our here. Oh, you were already here, and then you were picking him up. Okay. No, I started the Uber out here, cuz I was doing Uber here and back home I do shopper. Uh shopper too, which is where you would go to go to stores and shop for people. And I have one I have the Uber here and then I was going to go East Peoria Target to do the shopping. But did you start questioning whether those cannabis-related items really belong to the woman? Even her story about the suspect had started to raise suspicion at that point. No, he didn't have anything on him except for obviously that stuff in his pockets, but he didn't have like a bag or like nothing like that. He said he was running in to get some milk and then he jumped in the car and said pick me up at Menards. So I said okay. And I was going to park and he said "Just let me out here." And I freaking let him out here. And he told me to go. Like I could tell when he got in the car after he came back out from Walmart that something was wrong, but like I thought you said you were already here. I was already here. Like in the parking He he got in when I picked him up and we went back like he went back inside. Mhm. He said he was getting milk. Cuz see somebody somebody dropped him off. He was getting dropped off there because he was already I don't know. He must already been here. But somebody dropped him off here and I was taking him back to Creve Coeur or Pekin. I can't really remember. It was in the Creve Coeur or Pekin area kind of like by the river and jail. That's the location. Okay. I'll be honest, he is my cousin. He's your cousin? >> He is my cousin, but I had no idea all this stuff. So the woman admitted that the main suspect was actually someone she knew and police detained her before searching the vehicle. What they found inside turned out to be a major discovery. A lighter. A lighter. A sewing kit. A wallet, a lighter, a screwdriver. Cigarette, toenail clipper. Spoiled milk. Oh, fireworks. More screwdrivers. It's a face mask, a punch card. It's empty palm label. Oh, so she wasn't just innocently sitting in the parking lot. That's crazy. All right. You want to come back in my car, okay? You might be sitting on a buckle. It's a long drive. To the PD? Okay. Okay. I'm going to grab I'm going to grab that first possible that I'm making you sit. Sounds good. All right. Thank you. The female suspect was charged with unlawful use of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, retail theft, possession of stolen merchandise, and trespassing. The male suspect was separately charged with felony retail theft and resisting or obstructing a peace officer after fleeing from police. A lie may buy someone a few extra minutes, but it often leads to even bigger consequences in the end. Taking responsibility from the start is always less costly than letting panic and dishonesty make everything worse. Next, this woman did not shoplift, but she still caused enough chaos. Okay, she said you think I'm stealing? I'm from Dallas, Texas. We don't give a [ __ ] Nobody's accusing her of stealing. >> Yes. No! No! On the 20th of December 2025, officers received a report from a Subway about a disturbance. And the shocking part was that the suspect had been one of the store's own employees. As soon as they arrived at the scene, the store manager gave a statement about what had happened. She was on the steps to the ladder. Okay. And so when I walked in, and I was asked to go look for her. >> Yes. She told me she said she was acting like somebody not really being herself. So that I said, "Can you step down from there?" Cuz she looked like she almost slipped. Okay. So then I said, "What's going on? You almost slipped from there. You're not acting yourself." And you know, you want nothing. This is how I am. And then it She like, "I was on the steps to the ladder. I was on the steps to the ladder." So I told Ashley, "Get over here and show her the video." Yes. I said, "There you are on the steps to the ladder." And then from there it just went crazy. She was She got my mom saying, "Stop this [ __ ] I mean, just to me." And she was holding her bag, but I said, "Don't. She's in my life. Don't hold her bag. Step back." I asked her repeatedly for her mom's phone number. She got in my face right now saying her number. And I said, "Stop. Calm down. I just want to get you home. I don't want you with your mom." That's it. Of course you know, cuz then she said, "You think I'm stealing? I'm from Dallas, Texas. We don't give a Nobody's accusing her of stealing. Yes. We don't think she's stealing. It's odd behavior at work. Yeah, really odd behavior. She's not On the other side, officers approached the female employee involved in the incident, but her condition clearly did not appear normal. Were you able to get in contact with your mom? Yes, that's my mom. That's my No, no, no. Were you able to call her? Yes, that's my mom. Have you spoken to your mom? Yes, that's my mom. Long time. That's my mom. On that phone? Yes. Did you call her? Did you talk to her? Your mom? Who are you? Officer Peterson. Officer Peterson. What's your name? Officer Peterson. Peterson. Okay, I got that. Okay. Were you going your mom? >> I No, I'm I'm going to say my name. No more. Is anybody coming to pick you up? >> got them. I got somebody picking me up. Okay, perfect. Is that okay? I don't know who your name is. I don't know who your name Just going to try here. >> Yes, it's officer. You want to write it down? Peterson. No, okay. No, I've got it right here. I've got it right in my hand. So, is anybody coming to pick you up? Somebody is picking me up. Hey. Nope, you can stay over here. Okay. Hey, is the fact that he he wanted to see my name? Do you mind if we talk? Is that cool? I don't care if we Okay. Okay, just detain her for right now. If you had been this woman, walking away would have been a mistake. Backup officers were already blocking the exit, and that move would have been seen as fleeing, leading to immediate arrest, just like this chaos. Okay. Okay. I am not No! >> [screaming] >> No! I got her right here. No! No! >> [screaming] >> I know. Get off of me! Get off of me! Get off of Get off of me! See her right there? I got that. I got the sergeant. Get off of me! Get off of Get off of me! Get off of Get off of Get off of >> [screaming] >> Get off of Get off of me! Get off of Get off of me! Okay. I know. That's what I get. Okay. I'll never go back. Okay. I'll never go back. Okay, we just need you to relax for right now, okay? I don't care! Okay. I don't care! I don't care! >> [screaming] >> I don't care! Okay. I got her right here. I don't care! >> [screaming] >> I don't Okay. You good? No. I don't care what Now we're good. I don't Better? I'll [laughter] pick her up, okay? I don't care! All right, I'm I don't I don't Okay. Enough. You know, I got some more. Okay. Get her. No! >> Okay. You want to [screaming] walk? You going to walk or not? Get the [ __ ] off of me. Let's go. The woman only made things worse, showing she was far from stable. And even in handcuffs, she still played the victim and made baseless accusations. >> [screaming] >> No one's trying to We're just going to put you in the Wait for us. So, do you guys want to wait for that wrap? Or are you guys I think we should wait for the wrap. I think so, too. >> [screaming] >> Watch your foot. Watch your foot. Okay, just just put it on the ground. Just put it on the ground. >> [screaming] >> Yeah, just keep on the ground. Cross your legs. Okay? Okay. [laughter] Watch. >> [screaming] >> Remember, cross Cross them. Take your four. Take your four. Got them. And come on. It's not there. Okay. [laughter] >> [screaming] >> Her resistance became so extreme that she allegedly attacked officers and even endangered herself, forcing police to use stronger measures to restrain her. They so excited to act like the opposite. They act like I was We going to see a body. We don't use the R word. Please, shut up. They're going to connect How are you putting your brakes? You see how they treat me? You see how they treat me? You see how they treat me? >> [laughter] >> Exactly, see how they treat me? Okay. Exactly, exactly, exactly. This is a freaking nightmare. Let her go. Don't go that far. Exactly, see how they Exactly, see how they treat me? Exactly, exactly, see how they treat me? You see how they treat me? You see how they treat police? They treat y'all so Listen to that, they see how they treat police. You see how they treat police. You see how they treat police. How are we good? She uh definitely under influence of something. Don't know if she'll really give you guys a straight answer. She really hasn't given us any type of straight answer. Even before we Huh? You want to check us You want us to check her out? >> I mean, we can ask her. We have to ask her, but nonetheless. Okay, but close it. Okay, you guys want to help him with the asking her questions real quick, see if you can get her checked out. She's probably going to give an answer, but just see. We'll ask her. We ask her if she wants to check out. Yeah, cuz she totally said to use the force. >> [screaming] >> In the end, the woman was charged [music] with battery on a peace officer and assault on a peace officer. Losing control and resisting officers only turns a bad situation into a far worse one. Staying calm and cooperating can prevent unnecessary consequences. But, next, this employee did something even more shocking. It does look like it was an inside job. Mhm. Um, but you don't think that's a possibility? Am I Am I off base here? I don't think I don't think this lady is woman enough. I don't think On the 27th of October, 2025, officers were dispatched to an eye clinic after receiving a report of a theft, where the suspect was believed to have taken a large amount of cash along with high-value merchandise. And to better understand the story, listen to the statements from those who were present at the scene. Hi. It's me. It's me. All right. >> What we got going on? >> Um, so when we came in and opened this morning, we realized the door was unlocked. Okay. The alarm code was not set, so they wasn't beeping like it normally is. And then when she turned on lights and things and proceeded, she saw things were kind of disarray. Okay. Um What exactly was disarray? So, this display here all of this facing part was like all disheveled. I have pictures of it and then as you can see there's holes in here. This is always very full, so we know about theft or not. So, these missing tools are all missing. Okay. And then um our cash drawer has a key that's in our front desk area. Uh-huh. All of the drawers were open to find the said key. Okay. >> Key is gone, but this the cash drawer is still here. Okay. Do you guys have any cameras inside? We do, but they are unplugged it. Okay. And we don't have access to the actual footage. Like there's a code that you have to put in. And so when I got put on as a manager, the manager before me was fired. So, I didn't learn any of that stuff. Okay. The manager had no idea who the suspect was, but officers appear to suspect it was someone familiar with the clinic after it was determined that the store's system had been deliberately tampered with. So, the main thing now is we can't open the store because I don't actually know if I have cash in my cash drawer. I think they've taken it. You still haven't checked? We don't have the key. >> have the key. So, I'd have to literally break it in order to see. And so this is how they were. >> drawer at? It's in my office. I forgot the cash drawer, but that's where the key is located. >> Here. Right here. And I was told for you guys to have to do fingerprinting if you needed to or whatever you. But this is what it looks like and this is supposed to be how it is now. So, this is This is Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. >> And then like she walked past and this is a like we have to be very tidy so we know things are what have you. Right. But this is how the drawers were as when she got here. Okay. Like opened like this. So, besides this main area, nothing back there has been touched that you know of? >> rooms are fine. Just this front area. I think fine. It's not like it's right here. It's like This area right here. Sorry, do you mind if I come back and have a little look and stuff like that? This is a contact window. Nothing was taken from there. No, and literally in my office nothing was touched other than the camera. Which is still unplugged and this is where it's unplugged here. So, this is where the cash drawer where we work on the computer. Have you tried plugging it back in? No, I didn't know where it went to be honest. >> [cough] >> That, no. Damn it. Okay. Let me have a look cuz I think we might be able to see if it captured stuff. Aha. Shortly after, the employee who opened the store that day was interviewed separately and her statement helped officers narrow their suspicions. What was the first thing that kind of made you made you realize that something was wrong? It was odd that the door wasn't locked. That was the oddest. But when I came in and I saw the stuff moved, I'm like, maybe they just forgot to lock it. You know? And that's I just went and And but then that's when I realized too that the alarm wasn't going off. Got you. So, I'm like, okay. Do you normally open up in the mornings? I'm the first Yeah, first person every morning. And so you always end up punching in your alarm code. Oh, yeah. Okay. And you have your own code separate from everybody else? Yeah, I was given mine years ago and everyone else has the same one. It was with a different manager when I was hired. Got you. She's like, put in your own code and then yeah. So, what's what's protocol for you guys if you notice something's wrong? Like what are what you know, what's the company policy as far as what you're supposed to do? Well, talking to Katie this morning, she said if I notice that obviously the door's unlocked and the alarm's not open. If I don't know uh if someone's here, just immediately do not go in and call the cops. So, you know, kind of myself looking at it, it it does look like it was an inside job. Mhm. You know? Um so, it just brings up, you know, some awareness on my part and wanting to do my due diligence and and talk to everybody about it. Yeah. Um but you don't think that's a possibility? Am I Am I off base here? I don't think I know these ladies well enough. I don't think. Okay. So, are you aware that um with security companies they keep logs of all the codes that are used? Okay. If we pull a log from the company, are we going to see your code being used between >> Friday and today? I don't know. Okay. All right. Well, thank you. Appreciate it. >> No problem. The employee did not believe it was an inside job, but when officers questioned the other staff, they got the opposite answer. Could you suspect this employee was pretending to be innocent and was actually behind the theft, especially after she quit the very next day? Officers arrived at her home, and this was the outcome of the case. Uh why don't we just head down here cuz it's kind of cramped. I'm kind of claustrophobic. Sorry. I got to go to the bathroom right now. Yes, ma'am. Yes, we are. Okay. Just go ahead and put your hands behind your back. Can I call my folks today? We'll We'll >> use my phone today? My phone's in there. We'll get some stuff in a second. So, you are under arrest for burg two, which is a felony. Okay? Okay. So, you You obviously know why we're here. Yeah. Right. Okay. So, um we had the footage. Okay? We talked to the manager. She said that during your exit interview you admitted to taking the cash and stuff like that. Um so, yeah. Uh we appreciate you being cooperative and talking to us and telling us the truth. That is something that will go in my report, and it does go a long way. Like, when I write reports and stuff, if people lie to me, I include that in there. I don't appreciate it, and the prosecutor doesn't appreciate it, but because you told us the truth, you've been forthright with us, admitting to everything, and that will go in my report as well. So, you know, prior to seeing the video footage, we were pretty confident it was you. I know. And there was a couple of things that were a dead giveaway. You could probably tell by the conversation that we were having. Yeah. Um you know, I asked everybody in the office, I was like, "Hey, do you think this could be an inside job?" And everybody's like, "Yeah, probably." And then when I asked you that same question, you're like, oh, flat out, "No." Right? That's kind of tells me two things. One, right? Yeah. Normally, people when they answer those types of questions, right? The innocent person goes, "Yeah, that's a possibility." But the guilty person who's trying to shift blame will say, "Yeah, no, it that can't it's not a possibility." Trying to throw us off potential descent. Right? And two, the way you phrased it was, you know, "No, I don't think any of those women." Right? Cuz you didn't mention yourself, but you mentioned them. Right? Which means, hey, I think you're a decent person and you're not wanting to get any of your coworkers in trouble. >> Mhm. Right? Which shows some character on your part. So, this is coming in confessing up and and coming clean. And so, I think at the end of the day, you are probably feeling some guilt around this situation, right? In the end, the woman was charged with felony burglary. Confession cannot erase a crime, and abusing trust for personal gain only leads to arrest, charges, and consequences that follow long after the theft is over. Worse, the man believes shoplifting was just a YouTuber prank. It's just a prank. It was a prank? Yeah, just a prank. Just put them all in there. Where? Retail theft? Retail theft? I didn't steal nothing. >> You went past the last point of payment. On the 30th of November, 2025, officers approached a man suspected of being involved in a theft. He appeared unusually calm during the encounter, but the reason he gave for admitting his actions was even stranger. Playing a prank, and everything just went there. What do you mean, playing a prank? Just playing a prank, and we everything just went there. You have prior dealings? No, ma'am. How am I supposed to find out who you are then? Just tell me. He showed no remorse, still believing his prank caused no harm, but his attitude quickly changed when officers took action. I ask everybody that that I'm talking to to keep their hands off the cart. The male suspect faced charges of retail theft, along with multiple traffic violations. Meanwhile, the female suspect was charged with retail theft, obstruction for providing false identification, and a seatbelt violation, in addition to having outstanding warrants that led to her immediate custody. When lies and defiance become the first reaction, they often turn a bad situation into something far worse. Cooperating early could have changed everything, but resistance only added more charges and consequences. The woman even ended up calling the police on herself. We got to an argument, and of course he starts out, "I'm recording you." You look [ __ ] crazy. You look [ __ ] crazy. Did you lunge at him and fight with him over his phone? He assaulted me the past 2 years. >> [laughter] >> which is gaslighting me and making me look crazy. But it's all out of reaction again and I know it is. And I'm so frustrated by it. I tipped [laughter] the band >> [clears throat] >> money and he got mad about it. >> Okay. So then he After leaving me, he came back and then said I could either leave with him or stay. I said I'm going to stay. Like I tipped them and Where were you? At Joe's. Okay. And I said I'm going to stay. I'm not going to be controlled anymore. So he said, "Fine, I'm going to throw your [ __ ] out." So I came back and all my things were all on the other room. I got home. >> [laughter] >> So you guys had like an argument or something and then Yes, we got into an argument and of course he starts out, "I'm recording it." Okay. You look [ __ ] crazy. You look [ __ ] crazy. Did he threaten to hurt you at all? Not this time. All the times >> So like previously? But but just now he didn't threaten to hurt you at all? This time it was I belong in a mental hospital. You have your ID on you? Yeah, I don't want to press charges. The woman claimed she was the victim of a man who manipulated her psychologically, but soon after she also admitted that she had acted in ways she should not have. He recorded He said that he started recording after I shoved him and I know that I did shove him because he started saying all these things to me and I was like, "Are you kidding me? Again?" So you you pushed him is what you're saying? Yes. Okay. I'm in jail now. Oh, just find your ID. And I don't know what to do. Everybody told me I shouldn't get back with him and then I Okay, well, some relationship advice. I was engaged for 2 years. Nobody knows your relationship like you do, okay? And then I shouldn't have gone back with him. Okay. And I don't want to go to jail. I'm so You're not going to go to jail. [laughter] But what if he says that I pushed him and you guys believe him and then the state is going to make me go to jail? >> It's not about believing. It's about >> happened with Taylor freaking all that girl but he believed her and then they made her go to jail. It's not about Listen. Listen. >> Everybody was right. Everything he was saying was right. >> Melissa, that doesn't matter right now like whatsoever. Listen to me, please. I know you're scared. I know you're frustrated. I get all the things. It's all right. I call that a frustration when you make me feel like I'm the other person. >> need you to I need you to listen, okay? We take both sides. You're leaving, okay? So, we're going to All we attempt to do is make sure everybody's safe. We separate the parties, okay? You're obviously leaving. We're going to go up and talk to him. What I need you to do now is get on your phone and try to find another hotel because we The only thing I care about is your safety and where you're going to stay after this. >> Going to stay at his own my phone because at the end of us fighting with him for his phone so he's it's all going to be on me and then I'm going to be the one who goes So, listen. I don't care what he says. Okay? >> the video that I'm fighting with him for his phone and look what he did to my hand when he was fighting with me. >> If that's the case, we'll deal with it later. Have you seen him drinking? He's been drinking the same as I have so yes. All right. So, we're going to have a cop come Okay. We're going to I guess keep him down here. Yeah. And have somebody stay with her while we go up. He's going to take care of you for now, okay? While we go up. Can we show you? You can show us what you want to show. Show you what he did to my hand. Through the story from her own testimony, it could be seen that she was the one who escalated the situation to make it more dramatic in order to blame her boyfriend. She even further admitted that she was the one who started it first. She didn't call nobody to come up. I pushed him. She didn't push him. It's not like he was approaching me and she just pushed him. And then you know what? I shouldn't have stopped him but I'm just depressed. I mean, he was He was approaching you and she was pushing him. And then I started to grab his phone and then we fought about his phone and then he was like, "Look at what she did to my hands." And I was like, "Well, at what you did to my hands so far." So, isn't that just as bad? Am I the bad guy? I've seen the video recordings about that girl. Am I going to be the one in trouble now? Did he ever touch you before you pushed him? Or did he Did he push >> Not tonight. Okay. So, after you shoved him, then what happened? Then he grabbed his phone saying, "See, she just shoved me. She just shoved me." After he said things to me again, like he has the two years. After you shoved him, he didn't shove you back or touch you? No. And then after that, we had a conversation, and then it was, "See, she's fighting me about my phone. See, she did this to me. See, she did that." But never mind the fact that the past two years I have literal text of him saying, "I want to hire somebody to beat the out of her. I want to fly down there and slap the out of her." Well, did you call or did he call? >> I called cuz he kept telling me to He kept telling you to call? Yes. For what? Because the past two problems call police because he's kicking me out of his hotel room. That he paid $10,000 for for the whole weekend for his birthday. After we broke up a month ago because I was finally done with this [ __ ] and he hasn't changed. I And now he's saying I'm drunk. I have an alcohol issue. I don't have an alcohol issue. I've never ever The woman's statements ultimately became self-incriminating. So, the officers re-verified the facts once more before proceeding with their decision. So, they're they're going to be very direct questions. Did you hit his phone out of his hand? Yes, I grabbed it, and I went to pull it out. >> After you did that, >> Yes. did you lunge at him and fight with him over his phone? Yes, I tried to fight for his phone because he was trying to record me after he didn't even tell me he was recording me. So, listen, he's got an injury to his right forearm. In the state of Florida, battery, whether domestic or not, which in this case is domestic, is an unwanted touch or strike. Like he didn't want you to hit his phone and he didn't want you to want to him to grab to get his phone. So, you're going to be under arrest for battery. Okay? Now, listen listen. I understand everything you said beforehand. It's documented. Okay? But, because of your actions, hitting him and struggling with him over the over the phone, we have enough probable cause to arrest you for battery. Do you understand that? Do me a favor and turn around, put your hands behind your back. Don't struggle with me, Alyssa. Just Turn around. Don't try to run. What about my things? We're going to handle that here in 1 second, okay? I don't know what to Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. I didn't know. >> So, listen listen listen. We're going to go to the jail, okay? You're going to listen you're going to see court or you're going to see a judge in the morning. In the morning? Yes, in the morning, okay? What we're trying to do here is help you out by putting all of your stuff in your car. When you get out, whenever that is at some point tomorrow, you can Uber back here and get your car. >> She completely tried to avoid all fault on her side. In fact, she became the one who called the police on herself. The police then gave her advice. It's super straightforward, okay? Listen listen to me listen to me. It's not ruined. I was engaged for 2 years. I was in a kind of a similar situation, okay? In another state. Okay? Now, in the state of Florida, like I told you, we don't have the luxury of this or that, okay? Sometimes in the past, the victim says, "Hey, I don't want anything done." and they dropped it completely, okay? I'm not saying this is what's going to happen, but in the past that has happened, okay? You understand that? Okay, so listen, your life's not ruined, okay? It's a it's a misdemeanor charge for battery, but >> But, like I have text message proof of him saying, "I'm going to light all your up this out of you." Just for saying that. And like with all these double reactive things. Like he's allowed to say things to me. And I know I shouldn't have grabbed his phone, and I'm sorry that I did. But how [laughter] come he's allowed to do all these abusive things to me, and I can't defend myself? Stuff that's been said. >> never have called. I didn't know. I thought you guys would just help me get away from him. >> [laughter] >> I just thought I needed help for us to both separate for the better for both of us, not us getting in trouble. I didn't want him to get in trouble. And he's the one that's been abusing me mentally for 2 years. I don't have like a lawyer that I know to help me in this situation. I am not a violent or mean person. I know I'm not, and everybody I know I knows I'm not. The woman was ultimately charged with domestic battery. The case shows that emotional distress or past relationship conflict does not justify physical aggression. Once someone resorts to physical force, they may still face legal consequences regardless of context.
