[Music] the Mesa Police air support unit is a unit that basically supports Patrol any calls that they have or they go on that they need our support whether it's looking for missing kids missing adults going after suspects that are hiding or took off in a car into eighth place the first part of the era was a part-time basis and that started in 1986 with a fixed-wing aircraft and then became a full-time unit with helicopters back in 1994. we're located at Falcon Field Airport here in Mesa Arizona I've been a police officer since 2002 after being a tactical flight officer for a couple years I was elected as to be a pilot in 2017 went over to Quantum helicopters and became a helicopter pilot if I can do it anybody can do it it's definitely a achievable goal and you know it takes time but you just have to be goal oriented and go in that direction and you can absolutely do it if I can do it I've been with the Mesa Police Department for about four and a half years now I am directly assigned to the Superstition Patrol district and as well fulfilled my duties out here with the Mesa Police Aviation unit as a tactical flight officer My ultimate goal is to participate as a tactical flight officer out here full time and then eventually become a pilot with the unit and go through that pilot curriculum
