Hi, I'm Officer Clump, Jerseyville Police Department. The reason I stopped you is because you actually got a headlight out. >> Oh, yeah. I'm going to get that fixed um tomorrow. >> Okay. You got your driver's license insurance on you? >> Oh, yeah. >> Did you know that your sticker is also expired? >> Yeah. I came home this weekend to get that on. >> Sounds good. >> Oh. Oh, I got a wallet. >> That's all right. I can just grab your name if you can just pull up insurance. >> Uh, it's going to be Douglas Brooks. I have a picture of my license, but >> Okay, I can write it down. No big deal. So, your first name is Douglas. >> Yeah, Douglas Brooks. >> Find your insurance. >> Uh, I have the I mean, I got the updated insurance, but I have the old insurance that just expired. >> Okay. Passenger, do you have a driver's license on you by chance? I could I see it? I appreciate. Thank you. All right. So, Douglas, here's what's happening. Okay. We've got when I driver's license, you got a warrant. Okay. >> Um I don't know where it's out of yet. I'm going to have you go ahead and just step out with me. We're We're going to wait and call. Well, they're call. My dispatcher's calling now to see if they're going to take you or not or if we're just going to give you a new court date. Okay. >> Okay. >> Go ahead and step on out for me real quick. >> Okay. >> I appreciate it. >> Oh, I need that. >> You're good. Just throw your hands right up there for me. >> Okay. >> Yep. That's fine. You got anything on me? Poke me, sick me, hurt me, anything like that. Don't reach for it if you got anything in your pockets. Do you have anything in your pockets at all? >> Uh, no. Okay. >> I know of. Okay, sounds good. You just want to step right back to the back of the car real quick and then I just cup you in the front. Okay. >> Okay. >> Just in case we got to take you. >> That's fine. >> I'll get a little bit more information here shortly. >> That's fine. Okay, going to run my passenger. All right, there's that back for you. Okay. Um, we'll I'll as soon as we get back from dispatch, I'll let you guys know kind of what's going on. We're just going to see if they're going to um extradit him or not. Okay. >> No, take him wherever his warrant is. >> Okay. >> Is that out of Missouri? I didn't hers no element 104. So regardless of how this goes, she should drive away. >> Correct. Correct. But Did you go to the Hardy show? >> I did. >> Was it good? >> It was pretty good. Went to one in Indiana, though. >> Okay. >> This is what cars look like once my daughter drives them. I heard >> some heard me. It was in St. Louis. Like the lady hit me. She ran a red light and was on her phone and she told the officer she was on her phone and she ran a red light and she only got a a ticket for no insurance. I was like, >> "Yeah, you drive over there, you got to throw any kind of sensibility you have out the window and just try to survive." >> It's pretty terrible. >> I I I caught the 911 and they were put on hold for like 20 minutes. Like, oh. So, yeah, that's fine. We got, you know, accident in Kansas City and then I called police and they were like, "We'll just get all the other drivers information." What if they don't want to give it to them? [laughter] >> So, I did all that and I'm like, "Are you guys going to show up? Is anybody hurt?" "No, no, we're not going to show up." "Well, how do I get a report on this?" No, you bring it in and you got to go to this station for traffic and then I go to this station and then I had to pay $60 for the report and I'm like >> pay for reporting >> and I was like I got hit. [laughter] >> No way. That's the thing. >> Here's the information you wanted. I don't know that any of it's true. >> Right. >> Yeah. It was something else. >> That's nuts comparing even like what we do. Like we're handing out people tickets or not tickets that little by crush looks like exchanging information like okay we'll have your report done don't worry about it with the Kansas City Missouri or Kansas City >> Missouri >> people they be like crazy >> I'm from Kansas City which part Missouri oh >> I'm sorry >> right >> I had a blast then it was a really good other than that. But I mean, it was it was fine. >> I like going to Nashville, Tennessee. That's where I >> Yeah, >> that is fun. I'd love to go back again. >> You went? >> Yeah. >> Anything down there in the in the Smoky Mountains that my kids like that? My kids don't ever like anything simultaneously. They don't like if one likes it, the other one hates it or what, but they all have a good time down there. >> Hey, catch where it was. >> I don't know that she told us or something. >> I only caught that. It was FTA failure to appear for traffic. offenses is what it was. >> Was that Missouri or >> I'm going to confirm because I don't even think she told me city 222. >> I can't imagine Missouri. >> No. >> Was it out of Missouri or Illinois? >> It was out of Illinois. Did you get any tickets in Illinois that you missed the court date for? >> Yeah, I think I got one just before I left. >> Okay. >> 104. Yeah. Have you received confirmation yet? >> 104. >> Alton's close enough that they might deal with it. Yeah. So, cross our finger that they don't want you for traffic. They might cuz now cuz we don't have the cash bond anymore. So they would come we would take you to our county jail. They'll come get you and then you'll deal with it with them. >> Okay. Or they'll tell Jersey County you'll release you >> and then we'll be done. >> One of the two. >> But they'll tell us which one they want to do and we'll go from there. That's fine. >> 104. When did you get tickets down there? >> Like a while ago or >> I think it was a while ago. I left in I left for college August. I got one like before August. Okay. speaking old cops. [laughter] >> Don't you know somebody we could call? >> So I work over in um Indiana Westville and last Thursday it was a cop who was sitting at a stoplight at construction and I keep you guys not in like the last 30 minutes he had four traffic stops. >> Oh yeah. Oh, >> I was like, "Dude, that's like we look out the shop door and you be like, "Another street." I was like, "Dude, he must be going for something." It's >> probably easy to do in the construction zones. >> Yeah. Oh, that's what I imagine. on the interstate sometimes I get past where I'm going like 85 like like I'm standing still and I'm just like okay >> I think the fastest place I've ever like been in is like Texas like their speed limits are literally 85 >> yeah they're nice Idaho is like that too 80 80 on every interstate >> I love it so nice and >> [laughter] >> Let me know what car you got, too. Cuz some cars are just like just got to get up and go. >> Yeah. >> Just got to run it fast. >> I just don't want to fix nothing. So, I don't want anything to break. >> That's true. Worth it more problem. So, >> my kids break enough stuff, man. Always fixing their junk. Nice and easy. They said, >> "We don't have fast cars. I probably should never have a fast car cuz I like fast cars. My Jeep goes about 60 miles an hour and that's all she's got in her." So, >> you think they're calling records down at all and they're going like, "Who cares, >> right? >> This is traffic." >> Yeah. It might be recent enough to get a new court date. I don't know how recent it would be for them or not. I'm sleepy. These crickets out here about the puppies. [laughter] >> The nice walling sounds of the crickets, the >> the flashing lights. >> It's about time for some coffee. I think >> it's getting that time. >> What are you stole for? Uh our motors. >> Okay, cool. >> Okay. >> Like mechanic stuff or like auto body or engine building? >> Mechanic engine building. >> Okay, cool. >> Yeah, >> pretty cool. It's um a year and 1 month. Oh, um >> it's not bad. So, is it like generic or will you be like GM certified or Ford certified or do you like have to go to specific things? >> Uh, with that it would be like I've done those. >> Okay. >> But >> just get your foot in the door for those. >> Yeah. But I get so like pretty good. >> But we also do like um testing for like um ASC. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> So we get that through the school. It be cheaper for us. >> So you just come out you come out of the gate with more money basically. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Like what for like a trade school? It's like either way is good. Like a trade is like always >> for sure. Yeah. >> Cars are always working. >> Yeah. Well, we got shops in town. It's a small town in the middle of nowhere and they're begging for for service tax and stuff. So, yeah. >> Yeah. I think if I did it again, I'd go to a trade. I don't think I'd go back to college. I'd go to like trade school to pick a trade somewhere. Something like college is too much though. Like four years for something. >> Maybe a job. It's a piece of paper. >> Maybe a job. Most kids go to school for like being a lawyer or a doctor and end up bartending cuz like >> right >> feel that. That's what I did. [laughter] >> I told you went straight to bartending trying to find a job. >> They're always hiring and it's the easiest job to get. information. >> Go ahead. >> M5 is 9,500 10% apply >> 1040. >> All right. So, we're going to take you up to county. >> Okay. >> Okay. Uh, does she say 9,000 10%. >> So, 95 >> 95. So, it's going to be 10% 9500. So, you'll have 950 bucks, but you'll deal with it in Alton. Okay. >> Okay. >> Um, >> you'll have it. You'll see the judge obvious. The good news about Alton is they have their own court >> in their own. So, you're not waiting to go to another like they they have it in there. >> Okay. >> So, >> worst case scenario, you would see a judge in the morning. >> Yeah. >> You couldn't get out tonight. You could get out. >> How much was it, right? >> 950. >> 900. >> $950. >> I'm saying I do. I I'd have to sit other people might not. You know what I'm saying? So, like I'm just giving those what your options would be. >> Yeah. That's good. I get it. >> Okay. Would you mind transporting him? I do not think he's going to fit in the back of my car. He's too tall. And I I'm not going to We'll just walk back with him. You'll have a lot more room. I'll explain to her what's going on. um for you. >> I got no passenger. >> I don't fit well in the back of my car, so I can imagine you would be uncomfortable. >> Big tall guy kind of sit in there sideways and then slide. Yep. >> Thank you. Yep. Watch your legs. I >> appreciate it. So, the warrant was out of Alton. Okay. Um, it was just a traffic warrant. He missed a court date is essentially what it is. >> Yep. So, he's going to Alton is going to take him. He'll see a judge in the morning unless he can come up with $950 tonight. So, that's what's going to happen. Um, you I don't know if you guys were headed to your house or >> My house is right there. So, can I just take them? >> Yeah. So, that's what I'm here to tell you. We're going to >> Can I have you follow me because his headlight's out? >> Oh, you're not going to you're not going to be in any trouble for that. Okay. So, that those were just warnings. Go ahead. Just a second. Oh, maybe he wasn't talking to me. Dispatch, um this these are just verbal warnings, okay? To let him know that he's got those out. We're not doing tickets or anything for that. It just happened that he missed a court date. This has never happened to me before. >> Okay. No, you're okay. Do you have What What questions do you have for me? >> Cuz he's not in any He's You nothing. Um if he have his phone or anything in here cuz I can take that up to the jail so he'll have it at his person. Um so he can call you or anything that he needs. Okay. He's not in any trouble. It's not a big deal. He just missed a court date for traffic, a traffic ticket. So, when you miss that court date, they uh they put out a warrant because you didn't show up to pay your fines or plead guilty to your ticket. Okay. So, that's all there's warrant for. Um it's just because Alton's so close, they will go ahead and take him and then he'll see the judge in the morning unless he pays to get out tonight. >> Okay. I didn't see a wallet on him either. >> No, he had left his wallet at home. >> Oh, yeah. Yep. I forgot all about that. So, no worries on the car. Okay. You're more than welcome to take that to your house. >> Just take it and then >> Yep. Target. Um he I'll give I'll take this to the jail so that he has this on him. >> What do I do? >> I will be able to grab it tomorrow to bring it to him if he gets out or >> Absolutely. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> Can I have your name, please? >> Yeah, I'll give you my card for sure. >> Thank you. >> Yep. He should see the judge in the morning, so you won't have to worry um about the headlight anyway. Um and the sticker only expired in February, so it's not super expired. Okay. >> He told me that the tag was expiring. He's supposed to pick it up from his mom. >> I gota Yeah, no worries. Okay. So, we're everything's good. He's he's >> literally my house is right there. That's where we were going. Okay. >> So, yeah, feel free to go there. Um, I'll make sure to he gets this and then you guys >> Can I have the other officer's name, too? >> It's going to be Jacob Shane. >> Shane. >> Yep. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Yeah, no problem. >> I'd give you his card, but I don't have one of his on me. So, >> do you have any more questions for me? >> No, I'm just going to go home. I'm like shaking. >> I I did it. It's It's a lot all at once, but yeah, like no trouble, nothing like that that he's in. He's just going to go see a judge, get a new court date, and then he'll be able to pay all those fines. Okay. >> So, if he doesn't come up with it tonight, he >> he'll see him in the morning. Yep. >> And then, will you have to pay anything tomorrow? >> I don't believe so. I believe that that will give him a new court date and then he can work he'll have to go back to court and work on the tickets and the fines from there. So, if he sits tonight and decides not to pay it, he'll see him right in the morning and get his new court date and go from there. But if he pays tonight, then he'll get out tonight. No, I'll make sure he gets this at the jail. [laughter] Okay, no problem.
