here okay I have body right there yeah okay Sheriff's Office Sheriff's Office if there's anyone in there make yourself down ready yep okay good morning I'm Chief Deputy Brian Henderson we are here this morning to give you an update in regards to the double homicide that occurred last evening at 1322 East Parkway in Deland our 911 Center received a call around 7 56 from an individual who identified himself as Michael Williams Michael reported that he had just shot two people inside the house at 1322 East Parkway that prompted a response from our deputies we arrived on scene and we contacted Michael in the driveway of the residents this is Michael he's 47 years old he has a criminal history of worthless checks domestic violence batter and a law enforcement officer and child abuse Michael indicated to us that he had shot two people in the house our deputies subsequently went into the residence and located two deceased individuals one of which is Marsha Williams 48 years old and her son Robert Adams 28 years old Michael and Marsha were married for about 10 years they have no children in common and Michael gave us a story that he was attacked by Marsha and Robert and this stemmed from an argument that occurred over the past couple days about the electricity in the house Michael was upset that he felt that they were leaving the lights on on the house and he went and put a lock on the box outside of the house to which Marsha and her son cut so he became upset and that started this argument which ultimately resulted and these two people being shot and killed there were a six-year-old and a five-year-old also in the residence when this happened both of those children are Robert Adams children they do not live there they live in Tallahassee we do believe that they may have been a witness to this homicide and we're working with DCF and the Child Protection Team to interview those children we have been out there about five times this year for uh fights or arguments between these two none of which were physical we did not make any arrests during those those incidents um I do want to send my condolences out to the family of these two victims this was a senseless murder that did not have to occur so with that I'll take some questions he claimed um right he claimed that they came after him with a weapon obviously alleged that they threatened us and I'll let this picture speak for itself and we'll release this today he claims that he was violently attacked by these two now I don't see anything on this guy now I wasn't out there last night but we'll release this picture as well this does not look like a violent attack to me that warrants being shot multiple times uh the only weapon that we found was the firearm that he he gave us he had actually secured it in a box on the property and we've recovered it so when when you arrived he was interviewing a driveway and the victims were correct and the children were still they were saying that um they had been married for 10 years yeah they've been married for 10 years they were divorced in June and as part of that divorce agreement he was allowed to remain in the house the plan according to the court records showed that the um the victim was supposed to sell the house and split the proceeds with him so they were they both were living in this house together obviously this was very toxic as we'd been out there multiple times over minor issues um and then the rest is history as to what happened last night you know this is this is senseless you know this is absolutely senseless this was an argument over electricity who which he became enraged and and committed this kind of violence year to date we've had 700 domestic violence arrests in our County um just to speak to the volume of domestic violence and the seriousness of what occurs around that so we're still there um there are some pieces to this that we're still working through um and could subject to change but we do believe there are multiple shots fired how many right now I couldn't tell you that that's something the medical examiner will have to tell us as far as the victims but again I'm going to hold this up this guy who appears to be uh in decent shape is telling us he was attacked violently I don't see it yes Legally Legally yes he uh he was I mentioned his criminal history but he was a adjudication was withheld on those charges well anytime you have cohabitants who are living as a family unit we we termed that as domestic violence or domestic related but we you know we have to establish if there's a crime whether it's a battery or an assault none of those cases Rose to that level which is why no arrests were made recent ly she had actually called us several hours prior on a telephone handled call and she was looking for legal advice and we have that available too we'll make that the body camera audio recording available to you today as well so last night she had called yeah there was just back and forth between who's controlling the power who could put a lock you know it's sad they got divorced it's not obviously going to work out they're living in this house like I said we've been out there five different times and then you know he he goes into this rage I don't know any other word to describe it and this is what we're left with you got a five and a six year old that likely witnessed their father being murdered he said he had been out there five times already this year did she initiate those previous five calls or was it was split between the two of them yes yes um the young man out of the victim was that Williams's son too or yeah uh that is uh that is her son her adult son 28 years old correct they have no children in common any other questions okay
