[screaming] Hey, get the [ __ ] out of here. >> Hey, adrenaline junkies. Welcome to Police Chase. Today, we're kicking off a brand new series. When people messed with the wrong cop, where every dumb move instantly triggers justice mode. All right, let's dive in. subject. >> On May 1st, 2017, near the Las Vegas strip in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, officers encountered 25-year-old Miguel Salas during an incident that quickly turned tense. What began as a police response suddenly became a dangerous confrontation. Why are you going to >> Why are you just relax? Just come outside. >> Come on, man. Just step to the front of the car. Anything that we never said here and we'll be everything will be good. Everything checked out. All right. >> No. >> Look, look, look. >> Stop going in places. >> Look, look, look, look. >> Step out of the car, man. >> Dude, why are you guys trying to get me out of my car, dude? >> Safer for us if we want you out of the car. Body cam footage captured the moment the situation escalated. According to police, Salas opened fire toward officers, forcing them to react within seconds. In moments like this, there is almost no time to hesitate. Every decision can change what happens next. >> Can we get in subject? >> Shot fired. I've been hit. Shot fired. Hit. A rapid exchange followed, leaving two Metro officers struck and another officer injured. Despite the chaos, officers continued working together to secure the scene and protect everyone nearby. The body cam shows just how quickly an ordinary call can become a fight for control. >> 32 shots fired. Acknowledged all units over the channel 32 4185 West. >> The confrontation eventually ended with Salace being critically struck while the injured officers received emergency care. The incident became a sobering reminder of the risks officers can face without warning and how one dangerous decision can change countless lives in only seconds. >> I'm in I'm in the hit. Get inside. Get inside. Get inside. Open the door. Get the [ __ ] out of there. Get the [ __ ] out. >> On July 28th, 2016 in Warthingington, Minnesota, USA, police encountered 21-year-old Anthony Pramvanga after officers accused him of reckless driving and aggressive behavior on the road. What followed would later raise serious questions about how the arrest was handled. He's already >> We got stopped here by the courthouse. The [ __ ] out of the car, [ __ ] Show me your [ __ ] hands. >> Get the [ __ ] out of the car. Get the [ __ ] out. >> According to police, PBangsa drove dangerously close to an officer's vehicle and later failed to stop when authorities attempted to pull him over. Pram Vangaza disputed those allegations and maintained his innocence. Dash cam footage captured agent Joe Jose approaching Pram Vongsa's car with his weapon drawn and ordering him out. Within seconds, the encounter became physical while Pronga appeared to still have his seat belt fastened. [music] Watching the footage, one question is difficult to ignore. Could the situation have been handled differently? Krovanca later pleaded not guilty to several charges, including allegations involving his vehicle fleeing police and driving with a revoked license. The ACLU called for an investigation into the officer's conduct. The case became a powerful reminder that dash cam footage can reveal important details and that both public safety and accountability matter when reviewing a tense encounter. Want to have nothing. Just before 1 p.m. in Seattle, Washington, USA, officers responded to an armed incident on Rineer Avenue South. According to police, a 29-year-old man had threatened another person, taken his cell phone, and escaped in a silver Volkswagen Jetta. Officers Christina Bradley and Daniel Agiraa soon spotted the vehicle, triggering a brief pursuit through the central district. Westbound westbound 23 upcoming. >> Uh yeah, I just pissed with the guy. Charles 6 >> left on lane west on lane >> westbound lane got a collision lane collision. >> It's going slow now. I think the car's going to stop or slow. >> We're not involved. >> It can't drive fast now. >> Um looks like vehicle disabled hazard on air. We're going to hold the air in lane air. >> I got it. >> The driver eventually struck an unoccupied parked car, but instead of giving up, he stepped out of the vehicle. >> Got a gun. >> Shot. Shot. Fire. >> At 18th Avenue South and South Dearborn Street, police said the suspect suddenly fired toward the pursuing officers. Bradley and Agiraa were now facing a threat that had changed in seconds. Officers quickly surrounded the area, leaving the man with fewer options to escape. >> Drop the gun. >> Eventually, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without further escalation. No officers or suspects were reported injured in the final confrontation. He was expected to face serious charges related to the earlier incident and his actions toward officers. A reminder of how one reckless choice can turn a few tense minutes into consequences that last far longer. On August 14th, 2026 in Houston, Texas, USA, multiple 911 calls reported a man armed with a rifle firing toward passing vehicles near North Wayside Drive in St. Louis Street. The man was later identified as 45-year-old Dmitri O'Neal Thomas. >> Go, go, go, go, go. Go, go, [screaming] go. Ma'am, go. Ma'am, go. Ma'am, go. Ma'am, [screaming] go. Ma'am, go. Go. Ma'am, go. Ma'am, go that way. Ma'am, ma'am, he's shooting. Ma'am, ma'am. [screaming] A Texas DPS trooper and Houston officers quickly arrived and found Thomas standing on a front porch with the rifle. Officers repeatedly ordered him to put it down, hoping the situation could still end peacefully, but he refused to comply. >> He might be on the front porch. Yeah, he's on the front porch. Then the situation changed in an instant. Police said Thomas raised the rifle, prompting three Houston officers and the DPS trooper to respond immediately. In a moment like this, there was little room for hesitation. The priority was stopping the threat before anyone else was placed in danger. >> Hey, 54. Shots fired. Get down here. hands. I need to see your hands. I need to see your hands. >> Thomas was critically injured and officers immediately provided first aid before paramedics [music] transported him to a hospital. Three people affected by the earlier gunfire were reported in stable condition and no officers were injured. Thomas later faced seven serious charges. The incident is a sobering reminder of how quickly one dangerous decision can put an entire community at risk. >> Keep an eye on that gun. I got a flashlight on him. Okay, I see him. I see his body. I see his body. Breathing. Breathing. >> On June 16th, 2026 in Tampa, Florida, USA, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper clocked an SUV traveling at an incredible 112 mph on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. At that speed, one wrong move could put everyone on the road at risk. Southbound 11% on the sky. Traffic medium to heavy to 100 traffic. >> The driver refused to stop and continued south on I 275, crossing from Hillsboro County into Manatee County before heading toward Palmetto. The trooper stayed close behind, waiting for the right moment to safely bring the pursuit under control. You guys have an update on traffic conditioning. >> We're working on it. 349. We got a 28 on that. 28. I am running it out of Florida. 31 update speed and track please. >> Near US 41 and 21st Street East, that opportunity finally came. The trooper performed a pit maneuver, sending the SUV into a spin before it came to a stop. But just when it seemed the chase was over, the driver jumped out and ran toward a wooded area. >> Traffic is ahead of you and we're trying to get attack. Good. The vehicle pursuit was over, but the driver managed to get away on foot and was not immediately located. The empty SUV left behind told its own story. A 112 mm run had ended in seconds. Yet, the search was far from finished. Sometimes escaping the scene only delays the consequences waiting ahead. >> I'm at US 41 and 21st Street East. I've got signal 16 complete on 21st east. >> Get your over here. Get on the ground. [screaming] Put your hands behind your back. >> On May 31st, 2025 in Branson, Missouri, USA, officers responded to multiple 911 calls involving Jeremiah Mills, a Marine Corps veteran reportedly experiencing a severe emotional crisis. Police were told he had been drinking, claimed to have a45 caliber handgun, and was driving with his wife and children inside the truck. >> 31 and 91 are coming up behind you. Yeah, 37's with him. >> Branson, I can't tell the state. Queen Tom Edward 229. We're trying to clarify the location of that. That's around the Britain area. 248 traffic. >> All right. He's success. Success. Success. Success. When Sergeant Dixon located the silver Dodge Ram, Mills refused to stop and accelerated through traffic. The pursuit stretched across several roads as he ran red lights, entered opposing lanes, and reached speeds of up to 90 mph with his family still inside. Every passing second carried even greater risk. >> 59. I can't see his tires. Call it out if you see it. >> Both front tires are flat. Both front tires are flat. Okay, Shen's behind you and I'm behind him and somebody else is behind me. >> He made a left on that oneway drive going kind of back behind Country Mark. All right, I'll Shin's behind you. If I can get squeezed through, I'll see if I can get behind him with the bumper. Near Gretner Road, officers deployed spike strips and successfully deflated all four tires, but Mills kept going, even driving through the Cedar Ridge school campus. When the truck finally stopped, he repeatedly moved his hands out of view, knowing he had claimed to be armed. Officers kept their distance and brought in K9 Rico. [screaming] Get out of the car. >> Get out of the [screaming] car. Hands down right now. >> Now go. Go. Go. Go. Go. >> Get out of the car. Out of the car. >> Get out of the car. >> You're not getting out of the car. >> Get out of the Get out of the car. >> Go. >> Go. >> No. I don't want him to shoot you. Get out of the car. >> I can't see his hand. >> Faced with the K9 and officers surrounding the truck, Mills finally surrendered. His wife and children were safely removed and a later search found no firearm inside the vehicle. Mills was taken for medical evaluation before being booked into the Teny County Jail on multiple charges. After such a chaotic pursuit, seeing the family walk away safely was perhaps the most important outcome of all. >> Get on the ground. Put your hands behind your back. I got I got it. >> Hot dog, man. >> Is he secure? >> I got to double lock him. I got to double lock him. Just search him. >> I got cancer, man. Kill the drill. Kill the hands behind your back. >> In Ocala, Florida, USA, officers began searching for a vehicle that had reportedly been taken after it was left unlocked with the keys inside. Authorities identified the driver as 35-year-old Dale Shrewbury, and what started as a vehicle investigation quickly turned into a dangerous pursuit. 51 91. >> How about the 2000 block? You just stand by 294. They're trying to get motion tested. whole new yard 3,000 block. Police said Shrewsbury refused to stop, racing through residential neighborhoods, crossing yards, and damaging fences along the way. He also struck a patrol vehicle while continuing to flee. With homes and families nearby, officers knew the chase needed to end before one reckless move caused something far worse. All right, we're back east on the roadway. I'm not sure what road this is. >> Behind the house is 5308. Let me go. Let me know if you go north. I'm on 44th Avenue. >> Officers eventually found their opportunity and used a pit maneuver, forcing the fleeing vehicle to a stop. But Shrewsbury immediately jumped out and tried to escape on foot. That was when K9 Jet joined the search, tracking him as officers closed in. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. Let go. [screaming] >> Help. Please. Help. >> K9 Jet helped officers locate Shrewsbury, bringing the pursuit to an end and allowing police to take him into custody. Authorities said he had 13 prior arrests and now faced several additional charges related to the vehicle, fleeing officers, and multiple collisions. After all that chaos, the lesson feels simple. Running may buy a few more minutes, but it can also make the consequences much heavier. Evil 1015 dog medics. [groaning] On September 6th, 2026, at approximately 7:42 a.m. near West Memphis, Arkansas, USA, Arkansas State Police Trooper Eli Thomas spotted a silver SUV traveling westbound on Interstate 40 at nearly 100 mph in the early morning traffic. That kind of speed left almost no room for error. Trooper Thomas stayed behind the SUV while updating ing other units over the radio. As traffic conditions changed, officers coordinated their positions and monitored every movement of the vehicle, knowing the situation could become unpredictable at any moment. The dash cam recorded speeds reaching approximately 99 mph as multiple units became involved. Troopers repeatedly communicated and issued commands while working to bring the situation under control. At highway speeds like these, every second matters, and one sudden decision can change everything. >> Okay. >> You move your head, I will [ __ ] kill you. >> Hands. Both [screaming] of your hands. Do not move. Do you understand me? Do not move. crawl [screaming] out towards me now. >> Arkansas State Police continued coordinating their response as the pursuit developed along the I40 corridor near West Memphis. The footage offers a sobering reminder that extreme speed is never just about the driver. It can place officers and every innocent [music] person sharing the road at risk. Sometimes slowing down is the simplest decision that prevents a situation from becoming something far more serious. 20 to 24 you got [screaming] out. On April 10th on Ryan Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA, police pursued Cody Davis, a convicted felon driving a stolen truck. The dash cam was rolling and what it captured would later become crucial evidence in court. Davis refused to stop, drove into opposing traffic, and forced past other vehicles. Prosecutors also said the footage appeared to show a stolen firearm being discarded during the pursuit. With every risky move, the danger to other drivers grew. All right. All right. Get off the air for a minute. You got a 52 run. It's going going northbound south. Oh >> [ __ ] >> Thank you. Thank you. My car down 52. >> The high-speed pursuit finally ended in a dramatic crash. Remarkably, everyone made it through the incident. Davis later claimed his brakes had failed, but dash cam footage and recorded jail calls became key evidence against that explanation. Sometimes the camera tells a story that words simply cannot erase. A jury found Davis guilty of six offenses, including aggravated fleeing, weapons related offenses, unauthorized use of a vehicle, evidence tampering, and property damage. What began as an attempt to get away ended with consequences that followed him straight into the courtroom. If y'all want to get the rest of them along the way, you a couple a couple to the one at Eddie. >> You need a couple to the one at Ryan and Eddie. On June 8th, 2025 in Lee County, Florida, USA, troopers responded to multiple 911 calls about a red Ford F-150, swerving across Interstate 75 and nearly hitting other vehicles. When trooper Monte's Day Deoka attempted a traffic stop near mile marker 127, the driver refused to pull over. That's very truck sped north, cutting through traffic and driving across median sidewalks and grass shoulders. Troopers attempted several PIT maneuvers, but the pickup kept going. With every mile, one question became more urgent. How long could this continue before someone got hurt? >> Hit the radio. There you go. 38 headed back west. making another eas. >> After several failed attempts, troopers changed tactics. With patience and teamwork, they finally boxed the F-150 in and brought the pursuit to a stop. But the tension continued as the driver stepped out, shouting and resisting officers. Good to know they have our back. Give me the report. >> [ __ ] ass down. >> Get out. Get out. Daisy. Daisy. Get out. Daisy. >> Christina Beth Lee Slitter was taken into custody and faced charges including DUI, fleeing police, and threatening officers. A series of dangerous choices on the highway had finally reached its consequence. A reminder that trying to escape rarely makes the original problem disappear. weapons, [ __ ] On December 27th, 2021, near mile marker 158 on Interstate 75 in Bib County, Georgia, USA, a Georgia State Patrol trooper observed a Ford Ranger traveling at 90 mph in a posted 70 mph zone. At first, the driver appeared to slow down as if preparing to pull over, giving the impression that the stop might end without incident. But within moments, it became clear that the driver had no intention of stopping. As the trooper activated his emergency lights and siren, the pickup truck continued northbound, weaving through traffic and attempting to exit at P no NOO Avenue. The maneuver was blocked by a tractor trailer, forcing the driver back onto the interstate. Knowing that a construction zone and heavier traffic lay ahead near downtown Mon, the trooper carefully evaluated his options while keeping public safety in mind [music] 17. Believing conditions were favorable and traffic remained relatively light, the trooper decided to perform a precision immobilization technique commonly known as a pit maneuver. The maneuver caused the Ford Ranger to rotate, leave the roadway, and roll several times down an embankment before coming to rest on its passenger side. The trooper immediately requested firefighters and medical personnel before rushing to check on the driver, Joseph Silas, who was still secured by his seat belt inside the damaged truck. I just walked in 1080 PE one right here at Riverside Correction 75 in [music] uh Rocky Creek Road. >> Go ahead and get me a 1052 in route. >> Silus complained of pain in his arm and expressed concern about losing his job, later admitting that he had been drinking and had made a serious mistake. He agreed to a blood test after receiving medical attention at a local hospital and was issued citations related to the incident. Looking back, the encounter serves as a reminder that a momentary decision made under the influence or in panic can lead to lasting consequences. While officers are often tasked with making difficult choices to prevent even greater dangers from unfolding. On March 7th, 2024, at approximately 3:16 p.m. in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, members of the Georgia State Patrol Crime Suppression Unit were assisting the Atlanta Police Department in locating a white Ford Fusion connected to a vehicle theft investigation. With support from the Autocrimes Enforcement Unit and the Phoenix Aviation Unit, officers located the sedan parked near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. At first, it seemed they might be able to stop the vehicle before anyone was placed in danger. >> 795 is trying to stop me. Wait for a fusion. Stand by for your dogs. He's got a second. Give him a second. probably going to go up. >> When troopers activated their emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop for a window tint violation, the driver accelerated away, initiating a pursuit through residential neighborhoods. The fleeing vehicle ignored traffic signals, drove at a high rate of speed, and even passed other motorists on the wrong side of the road. As the chase entered Interstate 20 eastbound, and the risks to the public continued to grow, troopers knew they needed to act quickly. Another pit. >> Troopers performed a pit maneuver in an attempt to end the pursuit, but the vehicle recovered and continued fleeing. A second pit maneuver proved successful, forcing the Ford Fusion into a guardrail and disabling it. The driver, later identified as Jon Jackson, jumped out and ran down a wooded embankment, leading officers, a K-9 team, and aviation units on another chase. Guided by updates from Phoenix Overhead, troopers eventually located Jackson near railroad tracks, where a taser deployment helped bring the foot pursuit to an end. Jackson was later turned over to investigators and faced several charges related to the pursuit, including reckless driving, felony fleeing, obstruction, driving with a suspended license, and outstanding warrants from Fulton County. But looking back, the incident demonstrates how quickly a decision to run can escalate into a complex operation involving ground units, aviation support, and K-9 teams. In many situations, choosing to cooperate from the beginning may prevent unnecessary risks and allow everyone involved to return home safely. >> And I will shoot you and I will shoot you on the ground. On July 30th, 2023, at 7:55 p.m. in Florida, USA, troopers were alerted to a green Chevy Tahoe that had reportedly fled from Tampa Police. A police aircraft soon located the SUV near Interstate 75, guiding officers on the ground from above. Just stay right there. The driver avoided spike [music] strips, ignored traffic signals, and at one point exceeded 130 mph, even entering opposing lanes. Cars ahead were forced to [music] react quickly. At those speeds, every second mattered, and one wrong move could affect people who had nothing to do with the pursuit. Hey, enemy. Enemy Okay. pretty angry. As the Tahoe headed back toward I75, officers performed a pit maneuver, spinning the SUV and damaging a patrol vehicle. But the pursuit continued until the Tahoe entered a gas station in Wildwood [music] where multiple officers finally boxed it in. The driver, Dwan Maris Stevens, was detained without further incident. Officers reported finding a leafy substance while the case involved allegations related to reckless driving, a suspended license, and public endangerment. After a pursuit measured in triple-digit speeds, the road finally became quiet, and the remaining questions were left for the legal process. On March 23rd, 2023 in Union, Missouri, USA, trooper Chastain initiated a traffic stop on a Ford Taurus for registration and seat belt related violations near East Main Street and MO47. At first, the encounter appeared to be a routine traffic stop, but within moments, it would develop into a dangerous pursuit stretching across multiple highways. >> On you? >> No. Okay. Come over here. Put your social security number on, man. >> Hey, can you go in there? >> Hey, can you give me that? >> My bad. All right. >> After pulling over, the driver exited the vehicle and briefly attempted to enter a nearby gas station. When officers tried to continue the stop, the driver suddenly attempted to get back into the car and resisted commands. A physical struggle followed as officers worked to maintain control of the situation. 52. >> The situation escalated when the driver managed to start the vehicle and flee while officers were still nearby. A pursuit followed through Union onto US50 southbound on MO47 and eventually westbound on Interstate 44 where speeds reportedly exceeded 100 mph. 692 you back off a little bit. I don't think I'm still not sure. Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed, but the vehicle continued traveling on damaged tires before leaving the roadway near an exit ramp. Both the driver and passenger then ran from the vehicle, leading officers into a foot chase. 652 travel. >> Subject just ran off the green median into the grass [screaming] at the exit ramp to 230. Subject look like he's about to bail. Officers eventually located and detained the driver after a brief foot pursuit. During the investigation, authorities reported that he had provided multiple false identities and later admitted to using several substances. The suspect ultimately faced numerous felony, misdemeanor, and traffic related charges, including assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, controlled substance possession, and impaired driving offenses. Looking back, the incident highlights how a routine traffic stop can change dramatically when poor decisions continue to build upon one another, creating greater risks for everyone involved. So on November 8th, 2024 in Independence, Missouri, USA, officers attempted to stop a driver after the vehicle nearly collided with a police unit and failed to comply with a traffic stop. What began as a routine enforcement action quickly escalated into a dangerous pursuit that would span highways and city streets at extreme speeds. >> Well, go and show me a pursuit. We're northbound Nolan. We're going to go westbound 70. It's on that plane I give you. It's on a gray Nissan Ultima. Looks like two occup speed 16 climber. >> Instead of pulling over, the driver accelerated away from officers, leading them onto Interstate 70, Interstate 435, and several local roads. As the pursuit continued, speeds reportedly exceeded 110 mph. With every mile traveled, the [music] risks to other motorists increased, forcing officers to carefully balance public safety with the need to bring the incident to a safe conclusion. There's going to be traffic. We're in and out of traffic now. Be passing over blue. After an extended pursuit, the driver eventually lost control and the vehicle spun out, bringing the chase to an abrupt end. Officers quickly moved in and secured the scene before taking the suspect into custody. What had started as a simple traffic stop had transformed into a high-risisk incident involving multiple jurisdictions and significant danger on public roadways. >> Your hands. [screaming] Driver. Driver. Driver. Crawl. Crawl to me now. Call to me. Do it now. Crawl [screaming] to me. Do it now. Crawl to me. Do it now. >> I'm doing it, sir. >> Faster. >> I'm doing it, sir. >> Investigators later reported that the driver was wanted for a felony probation violation and was also operating the vehicle with a revoked license. The suspect was transported into custody and faced additional legal consequences related to the pursuit. Looking back, the incident serves as a reminder that attempting to avoid a traffic stop often creates far greater problems than the original violation while placing countless lives at risk along the way. >> Stop resisting. >> Yeah, you resist me. >> I said don't tense up. >> All right. >> Stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. Tension up your arm. >> Resistant. >> On December 8th, 2022, in Escambia County, Florida, USA, an FHP trooper was alerted to a light colored BMW that had reportedly fled from local deputies. The Air31 police aircraft soon located the vehicle and began guiding officers from above. Hey, >> come on. Come on. Keep riding in the gas station. Air31 tracked the BMW along Hollywood Avenue, relaying every turn to officers below. A trooper later spotted it driving recklessly on Cerny Road and Blue Angel Parkway, but the driver continued to flee. With traffic still around, the pursuit became increasingly risky. Everybody trying to get southbound blue in traffic here. >> With the aircraft keeping watch overhead and patrol units closing in below, the driver had fewer places to go. What may have seemed like an escape route was becoming a coordinated operation from both the air and the ground. The pursuit became another reminder of how quickly reckless driving can put an entire roadway at risk. And while police footage may capture the pursuit itself, any allegations must still be decided through the legal process. Running may create distance, but it doesn't erase the consequences. >> Damn, they jo. Hey, sir. Can you please turn ACL on, sir? >> Excuse me. >> On July 8th, 2025 at 10:23 p.m. in Lee County, Florida, USA, Trooper David Blake was working an offduty construction detail when a gray SUV raced past at nearly 100 mph, followed by a patrol vehicle from another county. Seeing the deputy needed backup, Blake immediately joined the pursuit. There we go. The chase quickly pushed beyond 100 mph. Blake moved ahead and prepared to bring it under control. At that speed, there was almost no room for error. Only seconds to make the right decision before someone else was put at risk. traffic, >> Blake. executed a pit maneuver, sending the SUV off the roadway and into a ditch. As the dust settled, the two officers approached carefully and brought the occupants under control. After a chaotic pursuit, the road finally fell quiet. >> Let me see your hand. Let me keep them up. Keep them up. Keep them up. Keep them up. Keep them up. The driver, Jorge Rehea, was taken into custody. Authorities reported a history of driving while his license was revoked along with additional allegations involving drugs, warrants, and resistance. Blake may have been working off duty, but when help was needed, he responded. A reminder that responsibility doesn't always wait for the perfect moment. I'll give you some numbers. Thank you. >> 1050 1050. >> On September 15th, 2024 in St. Charles, Missouri, USA, Officer Brown noticed a Ford Escape traveling without a front license plate and with an illegally tinted windshield. He attempted a traffic stop, expecting what could have been a simple citation, but the driver had other plans. Within seconds, the vehicle accelerated away, setting the stage for a dangerous pursuit. >> 2122 >> mobile lane six young train hall 09. Fail your direction. >> Two fre. It's like a darker green color. He's clear with the charges. >> Traffic at Ford Escape. We're coming 94. We're on 94 toward 78. >> Northbound 94 toward 70. Your speed. >> The pursuit moved through local streets and onto the highway with speeds reaching nearly 80 mph. Despite emergency lights and sirens, the driver refused to stop and continued weaving through traffic. >> 9 miles per hour. >> Exit convention. >> 1050. 1050. The chase finally came to an end near a roundabout by the convention center where the SUV crashed before the driver jumped out and attempted to escape on foot. >> Show me your hand. Show me your hand. Show me your hand. Show me your hand. Turn your marijuana. >> What's his race? >> Officers quickly caught up with the suspect and a struggle followed as they worked to safely place him into custody. During the encounter, officers discovered a loaded handgun concealed in the suspect's waistband. A passenger who had remained inside the vehicle was also detained as officers secured the scene and ensured there were no additional threats. Let me go. >> Your stomach. >> Help me out. Help me out. Look at me. Look at me. >> Come on. >> Wait a minute. Let me get my Stop, dude. Let me >> I'm not Come on. I'm not resisting. Stomach. >> I'm not resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> On your stomach. >> Resisting. >> Put your arm behind your back. >> I'm not resisting. >> Put your arm behind your back. Gun, >> gun, gun, gun. >> The suspect was ultimately taken into custody without further incident, bringing the pursuit to a close. Looking back, the case serves as another reminder that even minor traffic violations can escalate unexpectedly when someone chooses to flee instead of cooperate. In many cases, a brief stop and a simple conversation could prevent a chain of events that places officers, drivers, and innocent bystanders at unnecessary risk. >> Put your feet at shoot your feet. We'll bring your shoes. >> No. Pull your feet up. Hey, you want EMS? >> Do you fix my radio? Yeah. >> On October 6th, 2023, at approximately 8:46 p.m. in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Georgia State Patrol troopers began following a reported stolen 2014 GMC Acadia that had already fled from multiple law enforcement agencies earlier that evening. The SUV was seen driving recklessly near the I75 I 85 connector, leaving officers concerned that another attempt to stop the vehicle could quickly become dangerous. >> 795 primary. >> Yep. Uh going through a parking lot, coming back out onto West End. Uh 795 is going to have primary and 795 is going to have primary. 75 at this time. >> As troopers activated their emergency equipment, the driver immediately accelerated away, triggering another pursuit through City Street. The SUV sped through red lights, crossed curbs, cut through yards, and even drove toward oncoming traffic, showing little regard for the safety of others. The chase continued onto Lee Street, where the fleeing vehicle struck a Chrysler 300 and collided with a guardrail. Yet, the driver still refused to stop. 1050 still going. >> Concerned about the growing danger to the public, a trooper executed a precision immobilization technique commonly known as a Piet maneuver, causing the SUV to spin and crash into a construction fence. Even then, the driver climbed out through the window and ran into a nearby parking lot. With assistance from Atlanta police officers, [music] Trooper Matthews deployed his taser twice before finally gaining compliance and taking the suspect identified as Willie Joe Williams into custody. >> Let go. Let go. Hey, y'all set to cover. >> Investigators later noted several signs consistent with impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and the odor of alcohol. An open alcoholic beverage was also found inside the vehicle. Williams was transported to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Fulton County Jail, while other agencies pursued additional charges connected to earlier incidents. Looking back, the case illustrates how a single decision to flee can place countless drivers, officers, and bystanders in harm's way, turning an already serious situation into an even greater risk for everyone involved. Huh? >> How old are you? Right. Oh, he's turning. 1050. 1050. Start fire. >> On September 19th, 2024, in Independence, Missouri, USA, officers with the Independence Police Department attempted to stop a white Kia Rio. What started as a routine effort to contact the driver quickly evolved into a dangerous pursuit that would stretch across multiple areas of the city. >> On Canterbury coming up to 30 knots. >> No, buddy.
