On May 25th, 2023, at 6 p.m. on Interstate 49 in Arkansas, USA, Trooper McCormack spotted a blue Hyundai Sonata speeding at 105 mph in a 60 mph zone, dangerously passing through an active construction area. Yeah. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver struck a concrete barrier before speeding away. Approaching exit 65, he entered a sharp curve far too fast and lost control. The Sonata smashed into a road sign, plunged into a ditch, and launched into the air after striking an embankment. Within seconds, the reckless escape came to a violent. >> Yeah, I know. I thought something. >> I think we're okay. >> The driver, 20-year-old Nicholas Wood, surrendered without further resistance. Officers recovered a loaded Glock handgun and sent it for forensic testing. Wood claimed he fled out of fear, but that decision had nearly cost him everything. On October 27th, shortly before midnight in Savannah, Georgia, USA, a routine traffic stop near 37th Street in Ogichi Road suddenly took a dangerous turn. Officers Ruben Cologne, Michael Gonzalez, and John Hower were at the scene. >> All right. Is there anything in this car that we need to know about or worry about? Yes, sir. >> All right. Mind stepping out since you acting a little nervous and stuff? >> I'm not acting nervous, sir. >> Yeah, you you acting a little nervous. You was hesitant on handing me the key and everything. So, go ahead and step out the vehicle. >> The driver, 25-year-old Tyreek Kyler, attempted to get away, and within moments, the encounter escalated into an exchange of fire. What began as a simple traffic stop had changed in seconds. >> I just want to make sure there's no weapons or anything. Do not be reaching in there, partner. Sir, >> officers Coen and Gonzalez were both struck and wounded before officers returned fire, bringing the confrontation to an end. The body cam footage captured just how quickly an ordinary night can turn into a fight for survival. [screaming] >> Both wounded officers survived after an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. A Chattam County grand jury later found the officer's use of force legally justified and concluded that no further action was required. In Warren County, Ohio, USA, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers spotted a vehicle driving recklessly southbound on Interstate 71 near State Route 48 and initiated a traffic stop. As a trooper approached, the 51-year-old female passenger quietly signaled that she needed help. But before officers could fully understand what was happening, the driver identified as Tomas Gorman suddenly accelerated with the woman still inside, briefly dragging a trooper as he escaped. for me. Troopers immediately gave chase onto westbound I275 near Winon Road. Gorman lost control and spun out, bringing the tense [music] pursuit to an abrupt end. After a brief struggle, officers took him into custody. Heat. Heat. wheel. The woman was safely removed from the situation and later reunited with her family. Gorman faced multiple serious charges, including kidnapping, felonious assault, fleeing and eluding, and reckless operation. One quiet signal for help had turned an ordinary [music] traffic stop into a race to protect someone in danger. Good job. >> My car back. >> On May 1st, 2023, at around 11:38 a.m. in Fairfax, Virginia, USA, a patrol officer was conducting a routine traffic stop on Fairfax County Parkway near Bradock Road. At the same time, a 17-year-old driver in a black 2018 BMW M3 was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. Then, in just a matter of seconds, the young driver lost control of the BMW. The vehicle spun across the roadway, crossed the median, and struck another vehicle before continuing toward the officer's patrol car. What had been a routine traffic stop suddenly became a dangerous and unpredictable situation. As the BMW crossed the roadway, the officer was nearly struck. There was barely any time to react as the collision unfolded around the traffic stop. For a moment, everything came down to instinct, awareness, and quick reactions. After the crash, the adult driver of the gray 2012 BMW 750 series was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released. The officer also sustained minor injuries, while the 17-year-old driver and two passengers in the BMW M3 were also reported to have minor injuries. The juvenile driver was charged with reckless driving. A routine traffic stop had turned into a sudden reminder that on the road, one moment of losing control can affect far more people than the person behind the wheel. Early Sunday morning in Miami Gardens, Florida, USA, an officer stopped a vehicle for driving without headlights. During the encounter, the officer noticed the driver, 37-year-old Gary Sprav, appeared to be wearing a protective vest. Yeah. Off. >> The officer asked whether there were any weapons inside and instructed Sprav to step out. Moments later, the situation suddenly escalated into an exchange of fire. The officer escaped injury while Sprav was wounded and drove away. The officer immediately followed. During the escape, SPRAV struck another vehicle before the pursuit finally ended near 191st Street in North Miami Avenue. What began with a simple headlight violation had become a dangerous chase in only minutes. Okay, we need to be a one-on-one. >> Investigators recovered multiple weapons and a protective vest. The other driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries while Sprout faced several serious charges, including attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer. It was a stark reminder of how quickly an ordinary traffic stop can spiral out of control. I like I like >> on Tuesday at around 900 p.m. in Wowki, Vermont, USA. Officers attempted to stop 26-year-old Caitlyn Barn on Mallet Bay Avenue. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop the car. Running. But as an officer approached, Barn suddenly drove away, dragging the officer for a short distance. In an instant, a routine encounter became a dangerous situation. [screaming] >> [screaming] >> Officers followed until traffic on the Woski River Bridge escape to a halt. With nowhere left to go, Bar was taken into custody, ending the tense encounter. >> He stole all of it. >> [screaming] [screaming] >> The officer suffered minor injuries while Barn was taken to UVM Medical Center for treatment. She later faced charges, including gross negligent operation, attempting to elude, and assaulting an officer. A split-second decision had turned a simple stop into consequences that would follow long after the flashing lights were gone. >> That's fine. I just wanted my stuff back. >> Yeah. By running me over. >> I didn't mean to. I just wanted my stuff back. I just want my stuff back. And I want my boyfriend. I just want my boyfriend. On February 6th, 2024, at approximately 11:34 a.m. in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, Trooper Weatherly attempted to stop a green 2003 Suzuki motorcycle on Highway 165 after clocking it at 85 mph in a 55 mph zone. But instead of pulling over, the rider suddenly accelerated toward Interstate 440. Heat. Heat. Weatherly immediately notified dispatch and followed the motorcycle. The pursuit moved from Highway 165 onto I40, then I30 before continuing through several exits and connecting roads. At one point, the trooper reached speeds of more than 140 mph just to keep the motorcycle in sight. With every turn, the distance between a routine traffic stop and a serious situation seemed to grow. Eventually, the motorcycle reached Jones Street and approached East 35th Street. The rider failed to negotiate a curb, lost control, and the motorcycle went down near the roadside. Jonathan Moore was thrown from the bike and landed in a difficult area near the roadway. Responding officers quickly reached him, pulled him from the roadside, and began assessing his condition while waiting for medical personnel. Take the airport. Thank you. Moore was transported to Baptist Health Little Rock for treatment. A records check showed that his license was suspended. His registration had expired in July 2022, and he did not have insurance. The motorcycle was later taken away by a towing company. What began with a speeding violation had turned into a high-risisk pursuit, reminding us that on the road, one decision to keep going can change the entire course of an ordinary day. On December 7th, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m. in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, an officer patrolling near Roosevelt Road in University Street, spotted a gray 2010 Jeep Patriot displaying fictitious tags. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, expecting a routine traffic check. Instead, the driver immediately accelerated west on 36th Street. connection established. >> The Jeep quickly reached around 90 mph in a 35 mph zone. The pursuit continued through city streets until officers carried out a tactical vehicle intervention at 36th Street and Romine Road. The vehicle stopped, but the occupants were not ready to give up. The driver, Octavius Shavers, and passengers Damen Townsend and Jonathan Aker jumped out and ran in different directions. Traffic moderate. Traffic moderate. >> [music] >> on 36. I'm turning lower street. Officers immediately pursued all three on foot. As Shavers continued running, an officer deployed a taser, successfully bringing him under control. For a moment, the frantic chase through the streets finally began to slow down, but officers still had two more people to locate. >> Don't [ __ ] move. Okay, >> this is the wrong my [ __ ] idea. What? You [ __ ] ran from me. He said he put the gun on me, bro. I said gun. >> What was he supposed to do? He caught that [ __ ] >> Townsend and Aker were later taken into custody and all three were transported to Baptist Health for medical clearance. The two passengers reported no injuries while Shavers sustained minor facial injuries and received treatment before being transferred to the Palaski County Jail. What began with a questionable license plate had turned into a high-speed pursuit and a foot chase. Sometimes a decision that takes only a second can create consequences that last far longer. On January 5th, 2024 on Interstate 40 in Canadian County, Oklahoma, USA, a deputy stopped Mason Treat because his vehicle was missing a license plate. What appeared to be a minor roadside stop was about to take a frightening turn. >> I'm not even going to do that. I don't want nothing to show. About 14 minutes into the stop, a passing truck suddenly struck Treat's vehicle. The impact also seriously injured Deputy Joseé Tayawa Mendoza. Investigators later said the truck driver was tired, but otherwise not impaired. Treat suffered severe injuries including brain bleeding, [music] fractured ribs, and lung damage. In seconds, a routine stop had become a major emergency, showing just how vulnerable anyone can be on the shoulder of a busy highway. In September 2025, Treat's father, former Oklahoma Senate President Prom Greg Treat, filed a lawsuit alleging that the roadside stop was unnecessarily prolonged and that medical assistance was delayed after the crash. The case remained active as of March 2026. The incident also became closely associated with the Mason Treat Act, which took effect in [music] September 2024 and changed Oklahoma's rules surrounding temporary vehicle tags. On August 26th, 2024, at around 6:15 p.m. in Levy County, Florida, USA, FHP troopers spotted a silver Honda Accord linked to a serious earlier incident in Pasco County. Dispatch warned that the driver might be armed, immediately raising the stakes. 14, no hit on stakes. FHB FH FHB trying to >> A14 shot fired. >> All units shot fired. Do we have location on right now? Troopers confirmed the license plate while the Honda traveled north on US 19 near State Road 40. But when they attempted a high-risisk traffic stop, the driver accelerated instead of pulling over, triggering a pursuit. >> Taking a left opposite lanes. Opposite lane. Opposite lane. Clear shot 14. We're still northbound. They're in opposite lanes. That may be got a bit Going north. Get back on northbound. That's going to be a true for 54. There's a leading unit. He's on his brakes. We're about 5 miles south. Just be mindful. 14 troopers coming up on your right hand side. He's passing you. Where you're at your tower northbound southbound side. The Honda continued north on US 19 at high speed. A Levy County Sheriff's deputy saw the pursuit approaching, moved onto the shoulder to let it pass, then activated his emergency lights, and joined behind the FHP unit with more officers closing in. The pressure was building fast right here behind me. 6 0 47 signal 4 signal 4 signal 4 out. Remember guys, shots have been fired. Hold back six 47 out. Remember guys, shots have been fired. Hold back. What began as a search for a wanted vehicle had now become a coordinated high-speed pursuit involving multiple agencies. With the driver believed to be armed, every decision mattered, not only for the officers, but for everyone sharing the highway. >> You got to kind of push it in. Officer Okay. >> All unit. >> On November 30th, 2025 at approximately 3:30 p.m. in Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA. Trooper Victor Garcia spotted a small black passenger car traveling north on South Carowway Road with expired dealership tags. He activated his emergency lights, expecting the driver to pull over. Instead, the vehicle accelerated and continued north, turning a routine traffic stop into a pursuit. >> The driver, later identified as Shamaya Johnson, continued through Race Street and onto Fair Park Boulevard. Garcia attempted a tactical vehicle intervention, but the first attempt was unsuccessful. He tried again, and this time the maneuver caused the vehicle to spin approximately 360° before coming to a stop. But the situation was far from over. Johnson immediately got out and ran through a Lowe's parking lot. Garcia repeatedly ordered her to stop, but she kept going until reaching the garden center. Then, in an unexpected turn, Johnson climbed onto a stack of mulch pallets and refused to come down for several minutes. When she finally descended, she tried to run again. Garcia caught up, took hold of her arm, and struggled to place her in handcuffs. >> Is your ID in here by chance, sir? is your ID or anything like it? >> After continued resistance, Garcia guided Johnson to the ground and was eventually able to secure her in handcuffs without further incident. What started with expired dealership tags had become a pursuit involving a vehicle, a parking lot, and a foot chase. It is a simple reminder that when an officer signals you to stop, choosing to cooperate can prevent a routine encounter from becoming something much more complicated. On September 18th, 2026, at 4:59 p.m. on Interstate 57, Illinois, USA, a trooper clocked a brown pickup traveling at 90 mph in a posted 75 million zone. What looked like a routine speeding stop quickly became something more unpredictable. found a Chevy Silverado color 181. The driver identified as Malachi Bon exited the interstate, ignored a stop sign, circled back toward the highway, and briefly pulled onto the shoulder. But just as the trooper stepped out, and ordered him to shut the vehicle off, Bon accelerated away again. Taking a left. >> Pull over now. >> Get back. Now 1037 373 y. Get out now. >> They've already stopped. >> Back on northbound I57, the trooper moved into position for a tactical vehicle intervention. BON breakdown attempt to disrupt the maneuver, but moments later, the trooper successfully performed the TVI, sending the pickup into a clockwise rotation. break. >> Still northbound. >> Look like he's doing something. Hands up. Get out slowly. Keep your hands up. Hands up. Walk backwards. Walk backwards. Walk backwards. Take a step to the right. To the right. Put your Get on your knees. Get on your knees. Do not move. >> Remarkably, Bon regained control before the pickup came to a stop on the right shoulder. A speeding violation had escalated into a dangerous highway pursuit, showing how one decision to keep running can multiply the risks in seconds. I was just trying to do 1 2 3. >> There you go. >> Okay. Now look, now let me explain. Look, get my location. He's on my phone. >> Turn grab my phone, please. >> Yeah, I'll get your phone. I'll get anything else you need in there. >> N uh just my phone. >> His phone. Okay. All right. Sit up. >> On July 14th, 2025, at around midday in Sebastian, Florida, USA, deputies were alerted that Sebastian police had attempted to stop a silver Lexus SUV, but the driver refused to pull over. The driver was identified as Steven Sultic, who authorities said had an active felony warrant. >> Hey, he's trying to back out. He's attempting the fleet right now. >> 11:04. That's 104 is at the Wabaso cause. >> Deputies later located the Lexus near Wabaso Causeway. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle again, Sultic immediately accelerated away, maneuvering around two patrol cars before speeding across the causeway. Officers followed as the Lexus continued westbound and then northbound. 1104. I do have an opportunity to pit once we get off the bridge. >> Road conditions. >> 114. I copy. So far, road conditions, light traffic. The pursuit continued at speeds of approximately 70 mph. Officers attempted a controlled intervention, but the Lexus kept moving. Pit not successful. Speeds approximately 70 mph. >> Eventually, police managed to bring the vehicle to a stop and initiated a high-risk traffic stop, ordering Salty Sick to step out with his hands visible. For a moment, officers also had to account for a dog inside the vehicle. Keep your hands up. >> Hands up. Hands up. >> Keep your hands up. >> Hey, slow down. Slow down. >> After several tense moments, Salty Sik eventually followed the officer's instructions and was taken into custody. He was later checked for minor cuts while officers discussed the next steps for transporting him. [music] What began with an attempt to avoid a traffic stop had turned into a much more serious encounter, reminding us that choosing to flee rarely makes the original problem disappear. It often makes the consequences much heavier. with me a little please. >> On August 3rd, 2026 at around 10:39 a.m. in Arkansas, USA, officer V. Orton was dispatched to 1011 W Main Street following a report of a disturbance involving an 18-wheeler and another vehicle. The truck driver told officers that a woman, later identified as Aliyia Burton, had tried to make him stop before pulling alongside his truck and confronting him. >> 323 28. >> Good. Boy, King George 33 Charles on a her. Hey, pull pull up here. Pull up here. Pull up here. Officers attempted to calm the situation and keep traffic moving. Officer Dunlap instructed Burton to move her vehicle ahead, but according to the report, she became increasingly agitated. Officers then asked her to step out of the vehicle. What had started as a roadside dispute was quickly becoming much harder to control. Come over here. Come over here. Get off the phone. >> Get off the phone. Get off the phone or I'm going to put you in handcuffs. >> What am I doing? >> Get off the phone. Are you Are you on the phone still? >> No, I'm not on the phone. Then you >> Can I talk to you, please? Cuz I can't talk to you. Don't touch me. >> Stop. I don't need to do anything. Serious. I didn't die. >> You hit me twice. >> As officers attempted to place Burton in handcuffs, the situation escalated. According to the report, Burton struck Officer Dunlap on the side of the head. Officers continued trying to gain control. And even after she was restrained, she reportedly managed to free one hand before officers secured her again. In moments like this, officers have to stay focused while trying to bring the situation under control as safely as possible. >> I'm trying to 349 1 2 >> Get in the car. >> Get in the car. >> Get in the car. >> I can't see. >> Get up or I'm going to put you in the car. >> Can you hold on? I can't. Why are y'all being so aggressive? >> Get in the car. >> Can I talk to y'all? >> Get in the car. Get in the car. No, I'm just trying to talk to you. Are you [ __ ] kidding me right now? >> Can I just talk to you? I was trying to talk to him. He got mad at me. I'm just trying to count on your back. >> Okay. >> After Burton was secured in the patrol vehicle, officers conducted an inventory search of her vehicle. During that process, officer Dunlap reportedly found a bag containing a green leafy substance. Burton was then taken into custody while officers continued [music] documenting the incident. What began as a roadside disagreement had turned into an arrest, reminding us how quickly emotions can change the direction of an ordinary encounter and why staying calm can sometimes prevent a situation from going much further. Get out. Get out. >> One more minute. >> On March 10th, 2026, at around 10:00, cops on March 10th, 2026, at around 10:00. At first, it appeared to be a routine traffic stop, but within moments, the situation took a very different turn. Now York Road approach hill the traffic lights on red stand lights red lights risk now Bedford road >> instead of stopping Nanz accelerated away leading officers through Chine walk and Bedford road before reaching the A45 during the pursuit he reportedly ran several red lights and reached around 70 mph in 40 mph zones once on the dual carriageway his speed climbed above 100 mph per hour. >> Speed 11 1 medium risk at the moment. Traffic remains light. No other pedestrians. >> Understood. Thank you. It's undertaking a slower moving vehicle. However, it's gone unboxed. >> Then near the Wilby way roundabout. The traffic ahead came to a standstill. With fewer options to escape, Noan attempted to push through the congestion and collided with several vehicles. Officers continued to close in and eventually the suspect vehicle became boxed in. At that point, the chase was over. >> Get out. Get out the car now. Get out. Get out. [screaming] Underrest. Get out. Underrest. >> Get out the car now. Get out. Officers arrested Nanz, who was later charged with dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a license, driving without insurance, and failing to stop for police. He pleaded guilty at Northampton [music] Crown Court, and was sentenced to 13 months in prison. What began with a simple insurance issue quickly became a high-risisk pursuit, showing how one decision to keep driving can create consequences far greater than the problem that started it. Take it off. Bring it down. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. >> On May 29th, 2026, at around late evening in Rushify, Durham, England, UK, officers from the Durham Roads and Armed Policing Unit were alerted to a suspected stolen Audi S5 approaching the area. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the 17-year-old driver refused to pull over and accelerated away >> towards Chilton. Speed 7, medium risk, come through. Going to hand over to triple 3. We're going to be double cruise motor. >> Yes. Such a chil roundabout. Standby for directions. Got the green light. It is not one, not one, not two, not two, taking the third. The pursuit quickly intensified. The Audi reportedly reached speeds of more than 140 mph while the driver was also seen taking some roundabouts on the wrong side of the road. With traffic and other road users nearby, officers had to remain focused and coordinate their response carefully. Ryson, >> we're not going to make try and quarter him toward metal bridge. Yes. Yes. Strike one metal bridge. Yeah. We're into Ferry Hill. We are 100 in the 40s. >> Behind us now. >> Take it off. Bring it down. Keep up. Keep moving. Yeah, he's managed to break through. We've got smoke from the uh front left side of his wheel. Speed still at 90. Then came the turning point. Through clear communication between officers, a stinger device was deployed, reducing the vehicle's ability to continue. Just moments later, police vehicles boxed the Audi in and brought it to a controlled stop. The 17-year-old driver was taken into custody. >> We're now in front of him. We're in front of him. We'll get the wave on. If we're getting tight, keep on the bra. During the subsequent search, officers reportedly found multiple sets of vehicle keys, including keys associated with Ford, Mercedes, BMW, and Audi vehicles, with some appearing to have house keys attached. The teenager later pleaded guilty to offenses, including dangerous driving and burglary, and was remanded in custody awaiting sentencing. A pursuit that reached extraordinary speeds was brought to an end through coordination rather than continued escalation, a reminder that when every second matters, clear communication can make all the difference. Uh, and then that'll be that one. Oh no, there's another Audi >> and another Audi key. All look like there's house keys attached. >> Behind every flashing light, every pursuit, and every tense encounter is a reminder that one decision can change everything in a matter of seconds.
