on November 5th 1980 off of I95 near the Port Orange exit a road crew discovered the body of a female for 43 years that case has gone cold with the help of genealogy for justice which is a nonprofit that helps fund the identification of unidentified human remains and fhd forensics who did the genealogy tests we were able to identify that victim as 25-year-old Pamela K Whitman we have subsequently been able to tie her murder to serial killer Gerald stano stano was executed in 1998 for nine murders of women and in his confessions to police he talked about killing several women in the Daytona Beach area I am proud of my detectives who since 1980 were Relentless in trying to identify that young woman who was murdered and dumped on the side of I95 and here we are 43 years later able to reach out to the family and at least bring closure for their sister we in law enforcement never give up there is no such thing as a true Cold Case and thank you to our partners at genealogy for justice and fhd forensic labs
