We have new information tonight about the murder of an Anderson County father found dead early this morning by his teenage son. Two people have now been arrested. WYFF News 4's Maddie Gaither is live and local outside of the Anderson County Detention Center with the very latest. says the victim died after being hit in the head with an object. He says he had stab wounds to his neck and burns to his body. He says accelerant was used before a fire was set. Tonight, two brothers are being held in the case. 11 hours after their investigation began, Anderson County deputies walked Oscar Ernest Lance and his brother Jacob into the sheriff's office for questioning in the murder of this 53-year-old father. Todd Cantley's body was found around 3:00 a.m. inside his home on McAlister Drive near Pendleton. His teenage son, named Brooks according to neighbors, woke up to smoke, put out a small fire, and discovered his father. Although often on the wrong side of the law, Oscar Lance tried to do his best for his younger brother Jacob. This had little effect, as Jacob was confrontational and cocky. Jacob sold drugs and had gotten into more than a few fights with clients and other dealers. One buyer, Brooks Cantley, became angry when he thought Jacob shorted him on the amount he received. Cantley harassed Jacob and made threats. And as the situation escalated, Brooks brought his father, Todd Cantley, into the mix. Todd Cantley was even more aggressive than his son, and Jacob decided he needed to be taught a lesson. He enlisted the help of Oscar Lance, and the brothers drove over to the Cantley home late at night. There, they beat Todd Cantley to death with a bat, and then proceeded to go through the house and steal multiple guns, guitars, a gaming system, and other items. Before they left, they set fire to Todd Cantley's body. Brooks, who was asleep in the other room, woke up before the fire got out of control. He hadn't heard what happened to his father, but he knew exactly where to direct the detectives attention. But, um I watch shows. I've never been high. I don't know. Probably I'll look at my record here by now. You've got DUI charges on me and child support. Mhm. I've never been in this room. You said it was about a burglary. Mhm. In what Well, Yeah, burglary's part of it. But, let's let's start with where you was at last night. Last night And listen, Yeah, I'm don't don't play me for a fool. I know you're the good bad guy. Good bad bad guy. I know you got probably got somebody in the back there who's being recorded. hurt anybody all right. I'm saying, listen, I'm trying to get up front with you. Okay. That's my That's what Last night I hung out with Jake. I called Jacob when I got off work. I had a little brother, you doing anything? He said, "Nah, man, just with [ __ ] and that's about it. And they always argue." I don't know if you met her yet. Been in their house. 16-year-old mother. Always starting drama. Well, man, I'm going to get out, but I ain't got no money. I said, "Well, I got 10 bucks." So, he got me a .5 of pot of loud. We sat there in the driveway and smoked. Lance starts with a story that he has concocted with his brother. They haven't had much time and it should be easy to trip Lance up on the details. We rode down to Anderson Beach, right past it, the mechanic shop. Hung out for a little bit. I had to go to work next day. Well, I was supposed to go to work. Well, Jake talked me into going to get some beer. I ain't going to lie, I bought him a beer. He's under age. Where? Which one? 7-Eleven. Near, um, Glen Raven, cuz it's right beside my house. The one right there by the DOT place? No, no, no. Like, when you coming off exit 21 south or headed north, you pull off exit 21, take a left right across from Glenn Raven at that 7-Eleven. That's the one place I stop and get a beer. Cuz I had multiple beers last night. Mhm. I probably drank four. Who were you riding with? Huh? Sir? Who were you riding with? In his vehicle. Which is? Um that that go-cart you had up there at my mother's house. Yep. Yeah, that one right there. I don't have a vehicle. I have no license. Mhm. But we were hanging out and they started bitching and grabbing and my ex and me started bitching and grabbing. Well, I went bowling. You can go I went bowling all the way up to Nike's last night. Mhm. At the Anderson Bowling Alley. And the girl that owns the Bubbles Bath and Works on the Gear Road, she can verify cuz that's where I went with. And she probably dropped me off 9:30, 10:00, somewhere around in there. I can't be exact on time. Where at? At my house. Who dropped you off? Um her name is Brenda. Brenda Beard, like big black beard, and she works at her parents own that Bubbles Bath right behind this place, matter of fact. Where you know, where we're outside Morehead Heating and Air is. Mhm. If you looking directly at it, to the right of it. Her parents own that. I hung out with her at the dog grooming place? Yeah, yes, there it is. I hung out with her at it would have to be around 10:00. And she dropped you off where? She dropped me off at my house. Mhm. And then I got what? It might have been my house. But I mean, I didn't do nothing. That's what I'm saying. But I get dropped off, Jake comes and hangs out with me, and we get tore up. And we're sitting there chilling. I go get a beer and everything. And then it was about 2:00 I laid down. About 2:00 this morning I laid down, but I take my sleeping pill and I took me a cyclobenzaprine which I was previously prescribed and I hadn't had them for over a year. Mhm. So I took them little green ones, took that, finished off half of my Bud Light which if y'all were in my bedroom y'all would have seen the half of Bud Light sitting there. Mhm. And that's and I laid in my bed and passed out. All the way until we got you? Yeah, yeah, it scared the [ __ ] out of me cuz I heard somebody at my window and I was like, that could be my boss man cuz if I don't answer the front door one cuz he knocks like boop boop did it did it did it did it. If I don't hear that he'll go bang on the side of it. So I was thinking that was him when I was jumping up I didn't have no underwear on that's where I sleep, put some pants on and I was sitting y'all busted through my door. I put my hands up and and I cooperated. Mhm. And well, I tried not to throw myself on the ground but you know. I mean but I don't got to work with Jacob yesterday. I mean I ain't got to be with him everyday. He's So between 2:00 and 2:00 Saturday, 12 hours you stayed home? Yes. Didn't go nowhere? No no no no no no. First I don't want to screw this up or for for rephrase the question from 2:00 a.m. till now? And I stayed home? Yes, sir. I know it was right in it, too. Is when I was out. Cuz I don't stay out late. I mean The woman Lance claims to have spent the evening with doesn't corroborate his story. Check my cell phone, officer. Why you working today? I was supposed to work today. Like As a matter of fact, if I go check my phone, he probably hit me up a couple times. But I don't work every day with him. It's not a full-time job. Yeah. He like he if he can't get his fat butt up in her house to change out of doing the work, he calls me and he helps me out because that's a part-time job for me. Mhm. And I do all kind of other different jobs. Where is your phone? At the house, I suppose. Where? Where is it? It should be laying on my nightstand. What kind of it? It's a um flip phone. LG flip phone. It's a little You need like my team 9900 flip phone. Okay. Um I mean, I'm I'm being straight up with you. Can you be straight up with me because this ain't about some little burger. I hate to say it the way I'm taking it. I don't know what this is, but just want to know why I'm sitting here just ringing his arm. Yeah. I'm going to ask you this quick. I'll be right back. I'm going to check on that coffee, too. Okay. I'll be right back. I know you're running, you don't have a lot to do, but Coffee good? I couldn't find any liquor, but I'll be out. I don't I can't help you about drinking. Why? Can you think about drinking it? No, I don't. I'm in this place. Huh? I'm in this place. Okay. I don't know if you think I've done something to your stuff, I'll take it out. If I think I've done something to your stuff, I'll I tasted it already. I just Is this the same stuff we drank? Yeah. All right. What were you doing? Sorry. You were asking me where I was. You were saying I was at home. Was at home until that point you all came to the door. That's the last thing that you said, you know, something I'll be right back. Yeah. So, what's wrong with the coffee? It's not y'all. It's It's me being over cuz Look, I when I was at Fort Lee, Virginia, I went out to a bar and next thing I know, I woke up in the middle of the night outside. And nobody ever fixes me my drink. My mom don't even make my plate. It's not y'all. Y'all been great. I'm trying to cooperate. Look, anyway. So, so you were home all night till we got you a little while ago. Yes, sir. I mean, I was hanging out with Jacob. We rode around like we always do. We don't sit in the yard because my ex don't smoke pot. You got on 28 bypass at all last night? Buy beer? Where'd you all ride to? I don't remember going out 28 bypass once. So, where'd you all ride to? You said you guys rode around. Yeah, I went to pick up some beer and meet him over there and smoke Joe. You know that little horseshoe road right beside the Anderson Beach? Yeah. We drove that road we always do and that gives us enough time to smoke a blunt. And we parked, we talked, he was telling me he wants to leave her. He's tired of the [ __ ] but he's not on birth certificate so he can't leave. I mean, me and my That's my little man, I raised him. Mhm. So, we sat there and chilled, but I I can't I mean, I'm trying to give you a hard time or something. Why you letting him deal with dope? He was talking. Why do I let him? You raised him. Why you letting him? You know how many times I've sat down and talked to him? And when And when Raleigh was at that Ronald McDonald House, I begged him to stop selling that stuff. I gave him a job with me. I enabled him for a year. Let me borrow 20 bucks, I'll give it to you next week. He never gave it back. Well, he's my brother. I tried. I smoke pot every now and then. But, I don't I don't enable him to do anything. I don't make drugs with him or hey, go to this guy and sell to this guy. I didn't say you did. I know I That kind of I can't baby him. I can't whoop his ass. I try to talk to him like a person. If he don't listen to me, that's like me being a dumbass. You tell me to do something not to do something and then my dumbass does it, whose fault is it? Right. But, I tried so hard with Jacob. Cuz my dad wasn't around. I tried. Lance had always been complicit in his brother's dealings and may have been the one to start him on that path in the first place. And I let that [ __ ] I told you I got a dishonorable discharge cuz I went to a party. And I look Now, sitting here, I thought it was child support. I'm sitting here busting my ass trying to pay my child support. So, I ain't I ain't in jail on Christmas, you know? My birthday's the 23rd this month. Last two years I've been trying to fix my [ __ ] life. I've been trying to take him right with me, dragging him right along, but you can't make letting nobody make choices I mean can't make their choices for them. I told him come move in with me, stay in my bed, I'll sleep on the couch, get away from her, get to a job. I've been telling him for months get a job. You If you already know he's slanging cuz I know he's hot out there, everybody runs their mouth. I I grew up on the street. Does he have a temper problem? He does have a temper. But if somebody comes and talks about his mama, he's going to go bust him in the head. No. I'm looking at it. No. Now Jacob, now you talk now real talk. I ain't trying to [ __ ] you. He'll meet you in the street. He'll call you out in that street. What did you say about my mama? And he'll do that mama match all day cuz I raised him that way. We used to come home mama jokes all the time. But yeah, I mean he will whoop somebody's ass when it comes down to it, but I ain't seen Jacob fight but twice and that was over money. And and they they went on about their business. Jacob grabbed him up, but all I did was pull him off of him. What about you? Would you enforce it? Would I would Enforce mama or somebody wanting to threaten you or your family? my This is my rule. You won't disrespect my mom, I may. But I wouldn't do nothing dumb. Now let me ask you a question. What's this referring to? Last night. What? He was talking to you. Okay, I'm I'm listening. I'm just I'm just Well, I'm I'm awesome. I can't stand not figuring out the pieces I have to get what I'm saying. Well, you know, I I got a job to do. Okay, I got a job to put people in jail, prove they did stuff or didn't do stuff. If I find stuff along the way that said they did it, yeah, I got to go that route. It's like probable cause. No, it's kind of like why you sitting here, okay? But at same time, if you didn't do it, I got to find proof that you didn't do it. You know what I mean? Yeah, I understand that. So, it makes me feel like you're neutral in this situation. Right. I mean, I don't mean to sound offensive. But, here's the thing. You and Jacob were at another man's house last night. And you burglarized the house. Did you not? Negative. You didn't take no guitars and that TV, that TV that's in your bedroom over there at night? I played a TV there. You talking about my little TV? There's a TV hooked up in the living room, right? But, you got another TV off in another bedroom. We have three TVs in our house. And I've had them. You had them? I've had them. You got no guitar in the house? All of the stolen electronics were found in Lance's home. I don't have a guitar. You got no guitar in the house? I mean, there might be with her boyfriend. Who? I don't know. I know she's dating somebody. Who? Jessica. The one It's the [ __ ] you did. It's It's [ __ ] you did. Who? Do I know Jessica Miller? No, Jessica Lewis. Brenda Lewis, I'm sorry. Yeah, Brenda's who I was hanging out with. You think she would have told you yet? I know, cuz she's the love of my life and I want her back. You busting in the door really hurt me, but um for we've been split up for 15 months. I lost my cool with her. I was jealous. I thought she was talking to somebody playing around. Well, we stopped talking for about 6 months, but that's my little man. I helped raise him. So, me and my mom was having problems. She drank. I couldn't put up with [ __ ] no more. I moved down there with her and paid her rent. So, I live on the other side of the house. She lives on this side of the house. And we don't we don't mess around or nothing. Okay. Okay. That's That's Jessica that I'm talking about. The girl I was with last night was Brenda, which is a route to Greenwood place. But you've never seen Jessica's boyfriend. It's a single-wide trailer. It's not an 8,000 square-foot mansion. It's a single-wide trailer. But with If she had a boyfriend at the house, you would see it, right? But by the way you're saying this, I don't bring women to that house. If I'm going to get me some nookie or go out on a date, I leave. They don't pull in the yard. I show respect to her. I love her. I told her I wanted her back. I wrote her a letter. She said it's just not worth it. Ain't that enough? I mean, I'm not being I mean, if a woman told you it's just just not worth it. Well, did she give you the same courtesy? What do you mean? Yeah, I don't I'm not there. She don't bring her Yeah, I go to Jake's house and stay the night. I If you talk to her listening to me in the last 2 weeks, I didn't stay there 3 nights out of a week because I didn't want to argue with Jess. It's always bickering, bickering. You need to clean up this. You need to do this. You need to do this. I'm cleaning You're right. I ain't going to clean up your side of the house. If y'all went through the house, y'all see how nasty it was to the left side of the house versus the right side of the house. I take care of that side cuz I hang out in the kitchen. I hang out in the living room. And my You seen my dog. Y'all didn't scare my dog, did you? I haven't. She don't like guns. I haven't been anywhere. I trained her that way. She don't like guns, knives, nothing. But I mean Just ask ask a question. I'll answer it. Where were you at last night? Last night I went bowling. At the bowling alley. Let's back up to about midnight. Where were you at at midnight? I was there at 12:00. Until we got you out of the house. I was there at 12:00. Jake came over. I got some green. I pick I remember picking up two for three. Where was two for three beers at? Blue Lights. But it wasn't down there. Y'all said on 28. It was around the house. I asked you. Yeah, I know. I'm trying to remember. Because um I usually don't get asked this [ __ ] But I bought me a tallboy. Jake didn't want one at the time. And then they had that two for three, so and they're 16 oz, so I got him one. And that was around two. I want to say 7-Eleven near my house is where I was at. Okay? Cuz the route that Horseshoe Bend, that Horseshoe Trail, I want to say he even stopped and got gas there at that night. Who's driving? He was. I don't know. My bad. He was. He didn't have a valid license. You didn't see my record? I I lost my license. What's up, people? I'm driving. All right, I'll tell you how it worked. Worked at Waffle House at night to come a truck, worked my ass off when I got out of military. Well, I forgot to pay all my taxes. They took my license. I got pulled over picking my daughter up on the way to pick her up. They said, "Oh, you lost your license financial reasons." Took me to jail, charged me 720 bucks. I had to go back to work. So I drove my ex's car. I I know I shouldn't have, but I I done what I had to do. Locked my ass up for 3 months. One more strike, I do believe that's 90 days or 9 months in jail. I'm a DUS third. No. Done driving. Done. I won't even back your car out of the freaking driveway. I'm sorry. Yeah. But I want a moped. I've been trying to find one. I think I can have one under 250 cc's. The detective isn't interested in who was driving outside of it being a possible point of discrepancy between the brothers. Without having a license. But that's what I'm needing. That's why I'm stuck in these shitty jobs. But I'm trying to come up, man. Anything? I mean, just keep asking, I'll answer. I'm here to cooperate. How far behind child support are you? I am on one case I'm behind over eight grand, and on the other one she dropped child support because I don't get to see her 85 grand. And I pay on the uh rain uh What is it? arrears arrears. I pay on the arrears right there, and I pay 85 a week I'm other kid. Do think they have a warrant on you for that? No. I ain't I ain't even received papers for it. I've been waiting on it because I got behind for a month, but I started going over there paying 55 cuz that's all I had. They And that woman last time, she said as long as you pay, make it look where you paying. You won't Do I have a warrant for child support? I don't I don't know. I mean, that's You said you had something on me. That's why I'm on this night. I got I've been trying. I got a burglary warrant on You ain't got a burglary warrant on me, boss. The hell I don't. Why you think you're sitting here? Why you think the [ __ ] kicked in your damn door? know SWAT came. First time in my damn life. You know I don't make a life out of this. Well, tell me about the BMW last night. Let's see where you go with that. The BMW from Todd's house, where did it go? Who's Todd, first off? No [ __ ] Who's Todd? The guy that went to and shot Jacob, your mama, the family's house and I know what you're talking about now. He text Jacob the other day. I was over there and I want to say it was What's today? Like a Sunday. Mhm. He hit his phone up talking about Jacob ripping off on like a grand I had allowed. Yeah. Talking about that he's going to come rape his mama. Todd Cantley harassed Jacob Lance for not giving his son as much weed as he had paid for. He quickly devolved into insults and threats, which was more than enough to set off Jacob's temper. I know what you're talking about now. I wouldn't have jumped in that [ __ ] And I ain't claiming him for nothing. You can You can continue asking questions, but I know what you're talking about, but I don't know him personally. I was supposed to go over there and put his fireplaces in cuz I rode over there one time to Todd's house. Yeah. Listen, this is a year ago. You can even call 864-436-7158. I had a job to go ahead and put in the gas fireplaces in his house. And that's my boss man, too. You can you can write it down, call him because we were going to go out there and price the job. I've been out to that man's house one time and that was to drop [ __ ] off to him. But this dude kept texting Jacob, kept texting Jacob and I picked up the phone and said, "Let me tell you something, man. Quit you need to quit running your dick licker to a little kid like that." I said, "You're a sorry ass parent to let him buy weed in the first place and now you're talking about snitching on Jacob talking about he knew where all his plugs was, all where, you know, where he done his business and all that [ __ ] I said, "That's some [ __ ] cuz you're a grown ass man. I know I wouldn't let my kid smoke that [ __ ] I'd have been beating their ass and barred up their damn window. I know I did. But my my 10-year-old daughter ain't going to be smoking." That's to the extent of that and you probably if he recorded that, that's me that's me saying, "Real talk." Cuz I got tired of hearing the [ __ ] Do you have Jake's phone? If you get a hold of Jake, it's he never deletes nothing. It should be recorded that man was going off on him but I don't know Jake to do nothing like that. There's some offer. To do [ __ ] bro? My brother's a [ __ ] He'll stand up for his own. Let me let me point out for example. We was at Edgewood, right? Edgewood Apartments. This boy Zay owed him 25 bucks for some lower tabs he sold. There's me, my cousin Drew and Jake standing outside in the rain. This little boy Zay walks up to him and punks Jake out and knocks him all the way back in the car and I cut Carl to make us leave. Jake is not the type to go busting gun ho. He's not made that way. I'm not made that way. But it is what it is. Well, what is it? What do you mean by that, boss? Just cuz I said it is what it is. That's my favorite saying. If you get on Facebook, that's my favorite quote. Life's a [ __ ] and then you marry one and some other one. But, I mean, it is what it is. I mean, it honestly, when you first walked in this room, you looked at me like you looked at me like a person. Right now, I'm not done. You're looking at me like I'm just looking like I'm an idiot. I don't know what to tell you because I took a clock in this room and drank a couple beers. But, that don't mean I'm going to bird wrestle at home and I'm selling my own BMW. Look. I think they want to buy much of expensive cars in their damn life and parts. I mean, if you take mine, I had the shittiest vehicles you can find. Paid cash for it and that's it, man. Just Would you get thrown under the bus? To hell with them then. Hell, I don't know. I didn't do nothing. He can throw me all up under anything he wants to. So, he wouldn't throw you under the bus? He wouldn't sit right there in that seat and say look me it was Randy. I don't know, boss. But, is this where the good cop backup comes in? Because I I I don't See, here's what here's what happens. Cuz I come in here and I talk to you. I say, "Listen, be honest." Every time, go through the whole same spiel. And that's it right there. They go through their spiel of their lies and their side of story and whatever you want to call it. So, we get all that out of the way. Okay. And so, then I start poking holes in your story. Yeah. I'm good. And you want to see if I come up with a completely different story. And sometimes you realize that I know more than I Yeah, y'all are so smart people. You you can stand 50 miles and 50 feet away and know how fast I'm going without a damn clock. I know. And then you realize that you start telling the truth. Okay. But the point of it is You and Jake were at Todd's house last night. Negative. You and Jake were at Todd's house last night. Okay? That happened. Negative, boss. And I need to know what happened in the house. Who did what? Like I told you, I didn't go to his house. You weren't there. I wasn't at his house. So it was Jake and who? It wasn't Jake. Nothing. Jake was with me yesterday evening. Last night. That's what I just told you. Okay. What time he dropped me off, I don't know. If Jake was with you, you said that means you and Jake were at Todd's house. Now you're turning my words, boss man. No. I wasn't at Todd's house. And I ain't going to sit here and get mad, but I'm going to simply tell you I was not at that Amber's house. Is what I'm telling you. It don't take Look, I can take a cloud and drink a couple beers. I ain't going to forget what the [ __ ] I'm doing. Excuse my French, Lord. I apologize. Anyways, I wasn't at Todd's house. Okay? I'm not twitching. I'm not going crazy. I was not at Todd's house. I was with my brother last night. He says he was there. I don't know. Who says he was at Todd's house? Was he? With you. Not with me? The detectives introduce information designed to turn Lance against his brother by making him believe that Jacob confessed they were at the scene of the crime. They will do this to both brothers. In most cases, at least one suspect will fall for this tactic. Y'all stick with that, then. Roll with it. Cuz I wouldn't. And I ain't going down for that stupid [ __ ] He knows That ain't what it is. You said it, really. It is what it is. But, that happened. There was two people with tall shot flashlights. You weren't there, were you? I'm just giving you a hard I'm already All right. You and Jacob was at the tall shots. Something awful happened. Me and that dude got stole. Y'all trying to set it on Somebody trying to set it on fire. And that didn't work, either. I mean, they All that matters. Well, I'm glad you feel me and I want to finally have it instead of piecing and piecing and piecing and waiting to see what else has to say. I just like a man being up front with me. I ain't sitting in the chair. Tell me the truth. I was in the military, so technically, if I was going to try to burn something, that [ __ ] would be burned. You got me? Okay. I wouldn't go and teach you how to burn something. I just know how to make Okay. But, I'm not trying to be a smart ass, boss, but y'all are getting up under my skin with that cuz you keep going from y'all to somebody. And that started to piss me off because y'all's ass was sitting at the house last night. Well, we was hanging out and I went back to the house, but I wasn't at Todd's house. Don't matter what Jake says because in my head, I'm being honest with you right now. You could be playing me a bunch of [ __ ] That's fine. I don't have time for that, though. I understand. But, I can get you one, get you two. I have an appointment. I hope Jake stays the same way that you go home or stay there to do. Well, I don't want to go to jail, but it is what it is, but I didn't do nothing. you were in orange, you're going to jail. Yeah, I thought you were smart enough. I I figured I was in orange, I was going to jail. Okay. That's happening. But, I didn't do nothing. Is what I'm trying to say. Well, let's prove your innocence, then. I am. You tell me. I mean, you ask me every question, I'm answering everything to the T, but I'm not trying to be smart. But, I don't know what time what time it is cuz I keep a watch on me. The only thing I had was that bracelet that y'all had. And I had my cell phone. And that was it, but I don't keep it on me and half the time it's dead. Okay. I don't get I don't I have time every time I make a move. Well, I don't. But, I wouldn't have been late last night. And that was That's me because I don't play on school nights. And drinking a Bud Light last night was like relaxing to me because you can even ask Brenda. Brenda beer 353-738-3. That's her number. Call her. Okay. What she going to tell you? That we was bowling and we drank. 353-738-3? Played three games. I scored a 104, uh 109, and a 119. And she kicked my ass on the last one. I sat there and drank three Bud Lights. She had her a red apple ale. You know what I'm talking about? Had her two of those actually. We sat there and bullshitted, went sat in my driveway, made out for a little bit. But, she gets tired and then she gets up at 6:00 in the morning and running that [ __ ] over there, so she has to be home. So, it wasn't that late. You'd have to ask her then. What does she run? Huh? What does she run? the Bubbles and Bath beside um Morehead? Right right behind us? The Bubbles and Bath? The Bubbles and Beside Harris Harris AC Morehead. Yeah, her parents own that. But, yeah, I mean we hung out, but I mean you can find out when I text her last because she I told her text me when she got home and I text her and I said, "You have a good night's sleep." And that's And then about 45 minutes later Jake hit me up. And that's when I said to y'all We went and got a cigar. Rolled a cigar up, sitting in driveway. Music was too loud. We left. Rode around, smoked. And you went to the store and bought a hat? Yeah, by my house. That's my favorite store. No, it was the gas station. That's my That one It's either going to be that store or the one near McDonald's on next 19 like you pull out of 28 bypass by the McDonald's. No. No, sir. No, you keep bringing it up but no, that's that's in LA. That's going towards my dad's house. Yeah, he lives down there in off Baskin Road. Yeah, you got another little brother that goes to Crestview, is that right? Yeah, I have two, Joseph and Justin. And then I have a sister named Tiffany. And a sister named Jennifer. It's pretty big family. The good thing is these stores nowadays all have videos. It's cool. That's why I'm telling y'all this. That's why I'm telling y'all this. That's why I'm telling y'all this. I'm telling y'all this. I mean, I told you for the minutes y'all let me up, I will cooperate. That's good. I mean but but to say but we got it and it's not you but when y'all say y'all and then somebody Well, you did it twice when you insinuated there for a second. It kind of kind of put it on my skin, boss. Lance isn't bothered by the thought of being caught on security cameras. He's trying to project an open and cooperative attitude as if he has nothing to hide. It is surprising how many people attempt to do this even when they know they will appear on footage from locations they claimed they hadn't visited. Okay, it's your job to find the truth out if you got to probe to piss me off or not. I know. I understand. No, no, no, no. I just Well, this is, you know, you can try to play games all you want to but I ain't mad. the thing of it is when I say y'all I mean you and Jacob. Okay? And then when I say somebody that is somebody either you or Jacob. One or the other did something. Okay? I know the two players involved and when I say that I mean y'all you and Jacob. And when I say somebody took that guitar, that means either you or Jacob. Not mysterious man X. No, like I was saying there was when you was saying y'all, you were insinuating Jake and I When yes. It could have been Jake and somebody else. It could have been somebody else and Jake. It could have been No, he he just explained to you that it was never Jake and somebody else and said it was Jake and you. Okay. That's what you say. Yeah, that's what I Yeah. All right. So, in my you know, like I said, you know, I It is what it is. But you sat here and you know, you talked about raising Jake and trying to get him on the right path and all that kind of good stuff. Yeah, but how come you weren't on the right path? My mom didn't allow me to be around for years. Okay. And that was from 12 to 16. But you said that. You said you tried to get him on the right path and all that kind of stuff, right? Why would he throw you under the bus? I don't think he threw me under the bus. He said it right there, that's Street fabricator. He said, "What me?" It was Ernie. Oh, it's me. Who is it? What it is, what it is, let it ride. I mean, I I I don't have time to play games. I'm not trying to play games I don't have time to come in here and lie and just hope and hope that you going to tell me the truth. Okay, I don't have time for that. I make cases before you get in this seat. I figured you did. Okay? That's how we roll. Mhm. We've had a team of detectives. I mean, 20 [ __ ] people out there working all night, all day on nothing but the Jake and Ernie. Okay? Well, how did Jake and Ernie get brought into it? That's my whole thing. What the [ __ ] did I do? Cuz I went there one [ __ ] time. Well, Todd asked that, Rob. That Is that his name? That That's Todd. You know, those guys who were selling pot. What's his name? It's That's That's his name in your family. Yeah, that's his name. I didn't know this. I know Brooks because Brooks used to come over and play PlayStation at the house. What, so Todd Brooks' daddy you had that molar clarity and started telling me about the the threats and all. So, anyway, that that happened. And uh went over to Todd's house, robbed him of all his [ __ ] guitars, a TV, Xbox, stuff like that. And while there, decided to beat his head in with a baseball bat. What? And as if that wasn't good enough, you're accusing me of this? I'm not accusing you. I got notes that say that you were there. I didn't hit nobody. I didn't steal nothing. Do you understand the severity of this? It's very [ __ ] serious is what it is. You keep lying. You keep lying. Like I said, I had a whole team of detectives working on it, Jake and Ernie, too. I ain't lying. That happened. I didn't do that. No, you did. I don't [ __ ] know. It wasn't not me, though. So, why is Jake saying not there? Saying I didn't do it. Ernie did it. I don't know, but I know I didn't. And that's all I can tell you. Nothing else I can say. There was two people with Jake last night. Actually, there was two people there last night, Jake and somebody else. I didn't I swear to you, I did not hurt nobody. I did not steal [ __ ] Now you finally opened the whole picture to me. That is [ __ ] burglary. I've never been self burglar. Never dealt with burglary. But to put your hands on somebody is a totally different god damn totally different story. I didn't do that. You take it how you want to, boss. Well, if this is if this is the part I got a lawyer up, I don't want to get in trouble. You sitting there. You You in trouble. You figure it out then. Cuz this ain't a game. Cuz this ain't going to say that was It was Saint Grand Theft Auto V. We ain't playing Halo 5. We ain't playing Black Ops 3 on this. But that's why it's so important to you tell me where you was at last night. I just told you. And I tried to fill you in on everything I can. You said that You what? You said the gas station by your house is the last place you were. Yeah, that I remember. But it ain't like I'm going to black out and go do what you just said. I don't even want it coming out of my damn mouth. Boss, you find whatever it is you have to. You willing to take a lie detector? [ __ ] a lie detector. I trust you. Look, I trust that lie detector like I trust you, boss. This hadn't worked. It might have worked one good time. But we have to work with I ain't trying I ain't trying I ain't trying I ain't trying to be a [ __ ] Let me tell you something. Let me prove you that Let me tell you something. You see this right here? My nerves are already wrecked cuz you just brought that up. I got a 10-year-old daughter and I'm facing what? What? I'm in armed so I'm going to do a little bit of time already. And now you pull that [ __ ] up. When do you think I'm going to get out? And you want me to make your job easier? I'm sorry. I don't trust them. You see my nerves? My nerves are already wrecked since the minute you busted in my god damn door. But guess what I done? Put my [ __ ] pants on like a man, got on that ground and did it like y'all asked. I didn't run like a [ __ ] did I? Well, you had no chance to run. You yourself said there was too many of us there. I'm just simply telling you I didn't run like a [ __ ] did I? I came straight up to you. I mean, I was trying to get to you. I wouldn't let her. I don't know I don't know who was there. There was a bunch of them. You said you didn't look. Let's prove you didn't do it. I'm all for Look, look, you can sit here and do this pissing [ __ ] That's like a tennis match. I don't want to lie there and tell you tape. That's not making me think. That's not making me seem like I'm a [ __ ] liar, either. I don't trust them sons of [ __ ] And there ain't no way you're going to put me through it. Okay. But what the [ __ ] Why would I hurt him over some of mama joke? That was not a mama joke. Ain't ain't that what you just said? It was over some mama [ __ ] I read a couple of texts and I told him he needs to quit texting that [ __ ] phone. And that was it. If y'all If y'all pull this [ __ ] up like y'all can do, I will I will say it's out. Lance needs to realize that television shows are fictional and do not accurately reflect how law enforcement works. Try to anyway when I have time. I know y'all probably got better [ __ ] than I do. Pull the records up. I never made a threat towards nobody. And why would I? But No need about splitting up. I do with this [ __ ] on daily basis. Well, not this, but I do with people speaking their mind. I don't know. Other than this lady that you went bowling with, which I believe you went bowling with her. But you didn't She left. Who can verify what you did after that? Well, my my ex sent me up this damn morning cuz I was going to go deer hunting. Time was out. It was 5:30 when that one alarm clock went off. I was going to get up and go deer hunting. Who can verify between midnight and 3:00 other than your brother who says I don't know if I text my mom around that time. And I'm sorry I don't have surveillance, but you know, if I make it through this year, I keep surveillance on me 24/7 so you know where I'm at. But I'm pretty sure I was at home. Like I said, I have no reason to lie to you. Most people would consider facing possible murder charges a good enough reason to lie, so the detectives are not moved by his reasoning. Tomorrow's supposed to be the day I get my daughter. I get her every other weekend on Wednesdays. If y'all got that Ernie and Jake show going on, y'all do y'all thing, man. And I ain't trying to be a smart ass, but I'll answer everything you want, but when you brought that hurting a man Like this hurting, killing. He's dead. I wouldn't do that. Do you see me? Yeah, I see you. This ain't [ __ ] the first person to tell me that I wouldn't do that. And you're not the first person to say, "Oh, he rolled over on you." either, but I ain't calling y'all out. I'm looking you man to man. I ain't twitching away, I ain't looking away. I would not do that [ __ ] And I have a job. I'm sorry, but you just basically accused me of a murder now? What what what's this called? Burglary and murder? I mean, I don't know how y'all going to find it. Mhm. Yeah. That's what y'all accusing me of. How am I supposed to be? I understand, dude. Well, I don't know. I really don't. I wish I had to Y'all let me put some boxers on. Then I'll be locked up. We do. Like I said, you know, we we want to give you this opportunity to be honest and all that kind of stuff to help yourself cuz I Well, help me and give me I mean, what? You could write it down on that piece of paper and it goes to court and then well, we still can't verify where the [ __ ] he was from 12 to 3. No, I can't verify cuz I was there. Keep drinking. What I say you're not going to be in nobody's house. What I say help I mean, you know, when it comes to court time What? Me admit to something and and you make it lighter on me and me saying less time? And then when I still get out and my daughter says, "Mhm, I don't want to have [ __ ] to do with him." Right. Because I tried to be cooperative with you, but I would not kill nobody unless it's for my [ __ ] country. Unless you mess with my family, which is like coming up point a gun at my family's face. Yeah, I'd get your ass. Wouldn't you? Would that happen? He's going to come over and shoot up your mama and your rape your mama. Oh my god, that happened? You're taking my words out of context. Say for example somebody bust in my house. I'm laying in bed and somebody's got a gun or knife to my woman's head. I'm going to kill that [ __ ] [ __ ] the cops. I mean, because you mess with my family. That's That's the only reason I'd lose my cool. I don't I'm not that young no more. I don't have time for Like you said, you don't have time for [ __ ] I don't either, man. Well, what about when you was broke or high last night? What about it? Have you ever smoked pot? No, I haven't. Well, man, it don't make you feel like Superman. It don't make you feel 10 ft tall and bulletproof. Yeah, it collides with my mood enhancements. Cuz I have a chemical imbalance. Okay. That's why I take them. And I'll And it's a 1 mg. Look it up. If y'all have that nice Google thing, I'm not being a smart butt again, but it's not a high dosage. You're defensive, you know, I I mean defensive since y'all threw them charges at me, bro. You've been defensive the whole time. But now since you told me my brother threw me a 100 bucks and I'm like, "Why would he throw me 100 bucks cuz I didn't do nothing?" That's what's getting lost. You understand? Mhm. I mean, I've been That's what I mean Why would he throw you under the And and a And lie detector That's why he asked you about the lie detector. It could be a speeding ticket, I would turn down a lie detector test. I don't trust them. I don't trust them. That's fine. I just asked if you I understand. I know y'all throw that in here nowadays that And sometimes it helps people out, but I don't believe it works. I really don't. I've seen I I'm a nervous freaking wreck anyway before I even I've seen it work in their favor. Yeah, and that And y'all's favor. Yeah, I've seen it work in your favor. I've seen it work in their favor. As in suspect or the person I thought may or may not have done nothing. I've seen it work in their favor. I've seen it. Boss man, I didn't burglarize nobody. Okay. And I did not hurt nobody. Okay. Killed nobody. Okay. And do you have any more questions you're more than willing to ask me? Well, you know, Jake said said it He tells us the story of what happened. You know, he he not only tells us, but tells other people. You know, what we We've been talking to people since 2:00 or 3:00 2:00 or 3:00 yesterday morning up until We've still got people working. Yeah, there's people working overtime on a Friday afternoon to go to this. Okay? Um People tell these stories, you know, about their the series of events of things that happened. Mhm. Okay? Uh We follow up on that. Like you said you went to the 7-Eleven across from Lynn Haven. Mhm. Yeah, right there on Lynn Haven. You did not. Somewhere around there. Yeah, it was around that time. Is what you said. So, what do you think my next thing is going to be? Follow that up with Yeah. So, if I find you a video at midnight, Mhm. it's going to add up. Tell the truth on that. Yeah. Fair enough, boy. Glad you done that. I mean, even at Ancient Oakhaven, I was there. We'll follow that up. I was but you're going from 12:00 to 3:00. You're not worried about time before. I'm trying to think like you. No, no, no, no. But, what I'm saying is I'm just using your story for an example. Mhm. When these other people give stories about they went here, there, and yonder and did this, this, and this, we follow that up. And so far, everything that your brother has told us about his involvement, he manned up. He told us what he did. He told us what Jacob told the detectives the same lie that he and Lance had agreed on, but they were able to break him down more quickly. As soon as he could see that he wasn't believed, he blamed everything on his brother. You did or what he says you did? He corrected that. He said what he did, which I can prove. He said what he says you did. And uh so far, all his is adding up. And we're stuck with midnight till we got you out of the house earlier. Yeah. I didn't go nowhere. I had Pat Jane. And then you said that you were with him all or with him Yeah, he always come and hangs out with me. And he said he was at Pat's house. Doing whatever y'all were doing there. Or he said y'all were not. That's why I ain't got to say anything on the [ __ ] thing. Okay. I mean, he's he's got beef and I Pull his phone. Let Pull his phone. Do that. Where is his But, look Let me tell you this way. This this my And I'm not trying to be defensive, like you said. I see you're the good cop, bad cop. Y'all both been good cops. I appreciate y'all. Ain't nobody playing I know I've seen the You watched too much TV. I know I don't have no life. You watched too much TV, buddy. You let your friends get in your head, then. I I I don't have a life. I have my kids, work, eat, and sleep. Then I watch CSI most of the time. But anyways, I mean, them shall pull phone records and see where this man ran his mouth. That's between them, not I. I live near my mama. But it's it's your mama, too. Yes, my mama. And I call my mama for help because they are all big because she is a [ __ ] sometimes. And she gets way too drunk and I call her bleeder drunk. Take your ass inside for her calling on me. But it's your mama. And you said that family you protect But Brother, we're being threatened that you'd help us. Jacob break them off. On some weed. How stupid is that? That's on him. Why would I do something like that? I don't know. I I'm just saying, why would I do something Look, people going to run their mouth. I go to my job every day and I do drywall and I do the list work and I piss people off from doing drywall because I got to put my plug in in and I bust straight through it. So I hear I'm going to kill you and all this [ __ ] every day. I put up with stupid stuff every day on my job. Who do you work for? I do picking and air, but I also do side work on plumbing and I do remodel work, rehab. So I don't I'm not going to lose my temper. I lost my temper when you brought up murder because that is no freaking joke and that's one scene you cannot pass. And that is something serious to me. Mhm. Serious to us, too. I understand, sir. This is y'all's job. I don't know what you want me to say cuz I'm not admitting nothing I didn't do. I'm just making this I tried to get you to listen, but you wouldn't do. But I wouldn't agree. So you You know. So you think I'm lying? Is that what I mean? No. What are these fines? Probably for why would you throw the 30 under the bus? You raised him. He's yours. That's your little man. That's the way I perceive him. And have y'all talked to him about me and him? Sure. Does he bring me up to like I'm good and I'm the greatest and all that? He looks up to me. Did it come out of his mouth? Y'all didn't say nothing so I'll figure it out. No, no, no, not that. Not those terms. No. I mean, really. I mean, cuz I've always tried to do the best for him but I wasn't the best. Why throw you under the bus? I don't know. But then like I'm going to jump down there with him cuz I didn't do [ __ ] You just mentioned him. Him. I can't even say [ __ ] out loud, boss. Well, who was with him last night when he was with you? Nobody. Nobody? I thought Alyssa was when he first pulled up but then I got in the passenger seat. He was like, "You ready to roll up?" He pulled some weed up. I was like, Yeah, we didn't do that. Sitting there in the driveway. Where that little spotlight is in my driveway. I smoke pot. I don't I don't go out and buy pounds. Every now and then I smoke. I drink a 32. Well, the only people together that last night was you and him. Yeah. I mean, just sitting in the pulling in. Last night pulling in the driveway. What time did you come back home? I mean, I really I mean, I don't know. But I know it wasn't too freaking late. I mean, it really wasn't. What do you consider not too late? 2:00, 3:00 in the latest. Seriously. But we smoked a blunt right around Horseshoe Trail. We stopped right there at where that 7-Eleven is. Turned to the left, went back and cut like you're going to the trash dump. SCDOT. Mhm. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah. Turned down that road right there and he stopped, finished it off. I ain't going to lie, I had a beer in my hand while he was driving. I crushed it. It threw out. I didn't want to get caught with it, but And I told you I smoke pot to calm my nerves and drink beer. I'm fine. Okay. I can't get charged for smoking pot. You know, you know, I'm not I don't want to do dope anyway, so I don't really care. And like most suspects in his position, he is hoping that admitting to a lesser crime will make him seem more trustworthy. But I did I didn't do any dope anyway. Dope selling, I don't care. I care about that dead man. I do too. He can't speak for himself no more. That's the first thing that ran through my mind when you said that [ __ ] So. But it ain't in me to be killing nobody. Well, unless I had to do what I had to do in the military. Don't take Don't take my words the wrong way, but I could not take a life like that. What branch of the military were you? Regular Army and then a Swiss National Guard. 151st Signal Battalion. How many years did you do? Two years. Two. Yeah, but when that Like I said, I went to a party I got stabbed. But me and my ex Did you ever go to combat? No. I was level three in hand-to-hand combat. Okay. I done everything I could promotion-wise, trying to move up to an E5. I [ __ ] up. How long did you do? And I'm trying to make it back. I'm six years behind in my life and I'm trying to make it back in But I ain't going to do it dirty. If y'all come see me Monday through Friday, you're going to see me in installation dirt. I'm itching to death all over me, man, because I work. Do you work for yourself? I work for my boss, man. Who? I mean, is Is Is there a company name? That's what I'm saying. Yeah, and he don't have It's called Joe's AC, but he don't officially have his own business. I tried to give him the number if you'd like it. But you said Morehead. That's where I used to work. That That's where um she works at. The right side. All right, it's 864 Joe Mayberry Jr. 864-436- 7158. He lives off of exit 46B in Greenville. Right side of the highway. How long you been working for him? I worked He was my technician at Morehead. I started June 4th last year. And then they fired him, I left with him. And I've been working with him a little over 2 years now. Good man. Taught me everything I know. Why did you leave when he left? [ __ ] That job sucked. And I was pulling all the weight. And I was getting paid $8 an hour. And I couldn't do it because but by the time both my child support cases got pulled out, I was making like $72 a week. You can't survive. You understand? And I I I work I actually worked with him 3 weeks before I left. Cuz I didn't want to walk out on him. But then were the two people I con- I had contact with yesterday evening. The same two people I talk to every day. So why wouldn't you go to work today? I wasn't at work. Whenever he called me, that's why my phone ain't here. Well, earlier you said you might go hunt this morning. Yeah, I got up at No, I have two. All right. If you go in, y'all would probably still have my door kicked in. Go in on my nightstand and have a gray flip phone. That's my old phone. I use that as an alarm clock to let me know when to call my daughter on her breaks, when to call my ex on her breaks, well, the one I want to get back with. I use that phone and take pictures with it cuz my my my phone don't work. The camera don't work at all. My oldest is 10, my oldest. My youngest is five. And then I have a five-year-old, a seven-year-old stepson. Mhm. Would have been stepson. All right. But I I use the other phone for for a camera cuz mine broke. It just shattered. So it's in my bedroom. So but that's the only two The gray one fell off the wall. Sir? The gray one fell off the wall. Yes, sir. It went off this morning. I was like, forget it. I slid him on, went to walk out the back door and I was like it's too freaking cold. And that fog and mist was out there and I was like, bump it. Well, I made it to my bonfire. Have you Have y'all been in the backyard where the bonfire is? I got there and I just started kicking around the bonfire. I said, the hell with this. I went back inside and cuddled up. And that's when y'all had called. We all had made your way in. No, we didn't get there about 2:00 that morning. How was it then? Okay. I think it was like 13:56. I don't know. Yeah, 13:56 when I looked at it. That was after you walked. I don't know. I've been out since 3:00 this morning or two one of them [ __ ] time. You been out there that long? Oh, well. Oh, well. I'll check on something real quick. You got You need anything else? Sometimes it helps to step away from an interrogation. The suspect may become nervous and begin to speak without thinking when the detectives return. Or they may be more likely to believe that new evidence has been discovered in the meantime. Coffee in the room? Well, I hate to say there's some in here. I do. Mhm. I do. Mhm. You can't use tobacco in the building. Yep. Tobacco free. Y'all taking that out of county, too, aren't you? We can't smoke anymore. I don't know what they're doing. They going to have chickens in the wild back. I'm playing trusties game, but I don't think they can do it in I understand. But is there anything else you want to ask me? Cuz I'm trying to answer everything truthfully. But the only thing I don't want to do is take a polygraph test cuz I don't believe in them. Okay, it's not It's not a big What about What about What about giving us a a blood sample or DNA swab? For what? We use Here's the You watch CSI, right? DNA is everywhere. Okay. You volunteer to give up your DNA sample? Okay. But I I don't trust the polygraph. Okay, that's fine. Let me see if we can find somebody to do the DNA swab. Okay. Okay. Be right back. Sure. I'm I'm not going far. All right, man. Yes, sir. This is Lieutenant Chris Scott from the criminal investigations division. He's going to do the bubble swab. You said us. Yeah, yeah. He would do it. Okay. That's fine. Let me fill this out real quick. I didn't understand. I guess I'm going to have to measure a little bit here. 5'5", 4'15". 4'11", 5'11" would be closer to that. Who got two shoes? What's your full O S C A R S C A R Oscar. Ernest. E R N E S T. Lance. L A N C E. That's right. I see it's I Oscar Lance. I have been to be of the right to have an attorney present, and if I cannot afford an attorney, the court will appoint one for me. And that anything which I say or do can and will be used against me in a court of law. I do freely and voluntarily give the investigators and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office permission to That's called a buckle, b u c c a l, swab. Okay, which is basically just I don't know. your DNA. I know they did that for your fluid and all that kind of stuff when you got to the hospital. Oh, yeah. I have one question, and this ain't me trying to have what they call it on you know, lawyering up. Should I have an attorney here with me to protect myself? That's That's entirely up to you. I mean, could I get a public defender here? Uh no. Right now, you got to apply for a public defender. I don't know how that works. That's the reason I'm asking. I've never been in these shoes. I just I just For For both cases. Generally Generally, the public defender works is that you're booked into the jail, they just does your bond, they have paperwork in there that you fill out to apply for the public defender, and then the public defenders come down and meet you. Okay. Okay. I I didn't know that. That's That's how that works. I know how it works. I just wanted to ask, but yeah, I The police will never suggest that the best option is to speak to an attorney. Once one is requested, they are forced to stop asking questions. I don't know how it works. I don't know. I can tell you if it works any other way, I've never been privy to it in in my career, so that's the only way that I know that it works. Um buckle swab of or from me for investigative purposes. I here give permission freely and voluntarily. There have been no threats made against me. I have not been coerced in any way. I have not been promised anything in return for giving this permission. Yeah, they did. No, I'm just kidding. No, I didn't No, I mean, this is what you got to sign. I will get you to uh print your name here. Sign it right there for me. You're welcome back. All right, buddy. You can tell we got you taken care of. Sir. Well, here's the deal. Yes. I want to tell you like I was telling him I want to apologize about being defensive cuz I know what you're trying to do, but when you said that, that's that's about as serious it gets. So. Of course I went on the defense. Yep. Yep. I understand that. Do you still know what that is? This is what it was, boss. What is it? What's What's that white thing? Right there. Look like a piece of cloth. Piece of cloth. What's in that piece of cloth? I don't know. Do you know where those woods is? You want to show me a little bit better? That's all I got. That's all the one you have? That's Yeah. The woods behind your house. They don't look like a shooting lane I have. But they do not look like the woods behind your house, maybe? I mean, it It could be, but I mean, I have shooting lanes, walking lanes in the back of my I'm going to tell you that's the woods behind your house. Yeah. That's a piece of white cloth or something in that piece of white cloth behind your house. Which happens to be a gun stolen from Todd's Todd's house. Just last night. Mhm. Just behind your house. The Xbox 360 that's in your room sitting on that recliner or on that chair. Not hooked up to anything. Stolen from Todd's house. Yeah. That TV stolen from Todd's house. See where I'm going? I know. All that That's all that All that That's all the way you can come back in this room. Okay. Why you in the lane? Cuz he comes by my house in the middle of the [ __ ] night freaking out. Mhm. And I'm like, "What the hell's going on, Jake? What's going on with you?" Predictably, Lance has decided to shift the blame onto his brother. Me and Lisa just had it out. I can't do this [ __ ] no more, Ernie. I went and done something I shouldn't have done. Can you do this for me? And he's saying, "I know the TV that's sitting on that stand sitting there." He brings it in these hampers. He's got [ __ ] hampers like dirty clothes hampers. Mhm. And it's full of [ __ ] Mhm. Just I can't take this home. I can't take this home. So I So I put it there. And I don't That right there out there, I don't know about it. I don't know if he put it out there or what, but Mhm. I mean, he he brought a bunch of stolen [ __ ] over there, and I didn't want to rat my little brother out. Cuz he's got all I have. Pretty little figuring lineups. Well, I would I take it to the grave with me, but when you mention murder, I didn't kill nobody. I didn't. I swear to you. You hear this [ __ ] all the [ __ ] time, but my 10-year-old daughter is worth staying here. Not going to [ __ ] jail. Okay. But I told him he was stupid. He wouldn't tell me what I was supposed to do for I moved that stuff out of the car. You got a BMW flat rock road and drive. No, I didn't. You did. Is that what I was told? Is that what was said to me? Said that I did? Part of it. Cuz I didn't do nothing. I mean, I'm Who was with Jake? I don't know. He was by himself cuz the whole [ __ ] car was packed. Yeah. The whole [ __ ] car was packed. Yeah. Ain't no way he driving two cars. No, I'm saying. You're not listening to me. The whole [ __ ] car was packed. There wasn't no room in the car for nothing. Yeah. Well, like I said, the guitars that were stolen and all that stuff Uh we got all the guitars back. Um, the dead man's credit card information was in one of the guitar cases. I'm telling you I didn't do none of that [ __ ] And I'm going to be the one getting wrapped up for the [ __ ] So, who Who did, Jake? I don't know. He come in frantic as hell. I didn't know what to say to him, how to work with him. He said, "Just hold on to this for me." Now, that black bag you seen out there? was with him all night. I was hanging out with him at my house. We went around Horseshoe Trail and everything. But we never went far cuz he didn't have much gas. That's what he told me. You still don't think he sold you out? This is part of the damn interview where he goes, "Come in here." You didn't do it, now? My bad. I paid for it. Pay for that. I'm telling you I told the truth. Justin and I lied to y'all then and I felt bad about it, but I didn't want him in trouble. But I didn't know there was a body. I swear I didn't know there was a body. Well, here's the thing. You You You say you're telling us the truth now, but a few minutes ago you were telling us a whole bunch of lies. How How How do we know which one's the truth? I just came out of it. That's why We we came out in in in good faith. I know you did. But, I was I don't I you don't have a charge. I don't even have a charge. He's got a charge. I know he does. Both of you have a charge. I'm a grown man. He just had a baby born. He's 19 years old. He's grown, too. He knows the difference between right and wrong. I understand. But, they pinning that [ __ ] on me some [ __ ] But, it ain't like I'm going to do a whoop his ass or nothing. I love my little brother. Do you mind if I slide towards you? Oh. Oh. Oh. I'm going to take a minute. Yeah, one take a minute. Just some more of my old books. With his brother's betrayal, Lance is having to change his story rapidly, and it's not going to hold up under scrutiny. Like I said, well, I got no reason to sit here and lie to you. I didn't want to lie to you, but him. I didn't I didn't realize how deep it went. No Tony's No Tony's going to shoot. That was for Aspen. He didn't even want to shoot. He didn't want to go. He said he didn't want to go. I was asleep. So you need money to go to the hotel for Did you call Joe? That's my money. I don't know what he says. I don't believe him either. That where you woke up off the bed? I'm on [ __ ] It was a lot of blood, Joe. What happened to him? He said accidentally? So he's saying I wanted to take care of him? He called all of these drugs over there. So the police are He said, "All right, I'll open the door." What's that? What's that? First thing he does is grab the suitcase. I was like, "What the [ __ ] is this? What the [ __ ] are you doing, man?" We're back over here. We're back over here. Like I make it [ __ ] up? I had a feeling you would. You ready for my statement? You all ready? Now that he has heard his brother's confession, Lance realizes that he has lost any chance he may have had to avoid a murder charge. You know, you've been scared to death ever since you've been here. Let me tell you something. He brought that [ __ ] up about I hit that man. No, I told him I swear to God I sat there and I looked at him and said, "Jake, we got the stuff." He wanted the [ __ ] so he could get a lander. You know what a lander is? The big drug dealer around here. He wanted to take all them guns, all them [ __ ] TVs. The reason I packed that [ __ ] up so he can get friendly with some damn weight and make him some money. That's what the [ __ ] happened. I said, "All right, I'm down. I'll ride with you." About that [ __ ] time he's like, "Let's go do this." He had my papa's Louisville Slugger that we've had since 1930s, 1950s. This thing's old, been handed down. I said, "Jake, come on." Cuz we we came through the back door. Back door, all right. You got your front door. I never remember it all. You got your back door if you walk all the way past the living room right there. All the way get stairs past it. That door to the left, that's the door we came through. I walked in right behind him. This is the God's honest truth I'm telling you now. Yeah. I helped pack that stuff up for him. Started and I moved everything where the lawnmower is on the back door. Mhm. I set it right there. And I said, "Well, I'm just putting stuff right here." He gets the [ __ ] bat, goes up in the [ __ ] goes to busting doors. I said, "No, Jake, we're done. We're done." I knew where this [ __ ] was going. That motherfucker's drunk as hell, leaned over. He leaned his head up like this right here. And then Jake went, "What the [ __ ] you say about my mama?" And hit and hit him with the car. I don't know how many times he hit it. Cuz I didn't and I grabbed Jake, "Come on, man. Come on. Let's go." I went outside. I took the bat out of his hands. I I went outside, grabbed that the TV charger and walked straight out and started loading stuff up in the car. Next thing I know, he comes out three or four minutes later. And we leave. That's what the [ __ ] happened, boss. Okay. I didn't kill nobody. I didn't put my hands on this man. And then what? Keep going. You're not done. You got more? I I do have more. And then he took me the [ __ ] keys to the damn car. And he said, "Let's go and take a ride down the road." Mhm. He said, "Cuz we can chop this up and I can get some more money and make me some dope money." And I like, "Jake, why don't you just get a job? You can take this money right here that you make off this, fence it to somebody." I'm not in that life no more, boss. I said, "You can fence that [ __ ] to somebody and you can come up and get you a house. Even if you got to get fake piss, you can get somewhere and get a job." Mhm. I kept trying to tell him. "No, man. No. You drive that. You ain't driving my car." Mhm. And you know the rest of the story. So tell us. No, no, no. We got to get it out. Well, we went the back road behind Westside. You know, like you get to the red light. Westside center we left. Took that road back road over there. Drove it down there. And it was his idea to try to burn the [ __ ] I was like, "Why I'm burning?" I didn't want to be in it. Yep. Where's the bat? Huh? The bat. I don't know where the bat is because I helped unload everything and most of that [ __ ] got left in my house and I didn't want it in my house. I told him I didn't want it in my house. Cuz that You said you took the bat away from him. What did you do with I took the bat away from him and put it in the back seat, the back right-hand corner of the silver car with the gray car that's sitting at Mama's house. This explanation gives Lance a convenient excuse for his prints to be on the bat. The Buick, the Buick, Buick Regal, whatever the hell it is, and I set it back there because that's all the room because he had so many guitars sitting there like squished up against each other like mess messing the things up. I was trying to move them over. I I know my hand my hand my finger prints going to be on it. Well, you said you threw the bat where the car got burned. I did not. That's my papa's bat he gave my daddy which gave to me and I gave to Jacob. I know no I'm not being you. I'm saying that that pissed me off he broke that bat. This every time I'm there. Every time. To the T. All right, once you set the car on fire, what did y'all do? I didn't set the car on fire. What if the car was set on fire, what did y'all He brought me back to the house. Did you stop anywhere? Not that nothing I know of. You didn't stop at the store It was late. It was dark. It was cold. You didn't stop to get more beer? Not that I recall of. That might have been why I got when I got the two for three at the store. It could possibly been. Is Is it true that you go to that 7-Eleven? Yeah, I want to say I went to that 7-Eleven but I could have went earlier with her when she was dropping me off on like I said. I mean I went out bowling and drank a little bit and then I got her to stop at the store. I know I went to that store. I'm always there all the time. If that's true, you did go bowling and Yeah, I did. I mean you can look that up. I'm sorry I lied to you. But I didn't So, you get by with it. I walked in that [ __ ] room. I ain't never told him that. He's a He's a cocky, arrogant, hot-headed kid. All I could do was pull on him, man. I don't know if he's still got a mark on his neck or not, but I was trying to pull him. Stop. Stop. I don't want to rat my little brother out. He threw you under the bus. That's my play hard cuz that's what you're supposed to do, right? [ __ ] you. Well, I don't know. I wouldn't go down for my brother. I'm not after saying that [ __ ] You know, I believe you. I'm sorry I lied. I'm sorry I lied to you. about leaving my daughter. Talking about my [ __ ] life. Lance's emotional display may or may not be genuine. Either way, it will not affect the detectives. I ain't killed nobody. I feel like I got Mhm. Now we move on. We tried to run her over. Where'd Drake put his phone at? Come on. Where'd Drake put his phone? I don't know. He always has it up his ass, but he never charges it. You upset somewhere. I swear I didn't No, no. I apologize to the dog. I never meant for that. I didn't see you there. Why did y'all play with that there? I didn't. Well, why did you? He said custody of it. I gave it to him a long time ago. That's just equalizing it. I don't know if he still keeps it in the car. He used to cuz he sold drug and age of where people try to kiss him. You know how that [ __ ] goes. He keeps asking me to buy him a gun. He's [ __ ] 19. Ain't my new gun. So, he took out the gun, I mean the bag in the house? Yeah. Yeah, he took the [ __ ] There's a .22 in that white bag that you seen in the backyard. There's a .22, right? Mhm. .22 sitting in it. Yeah. And in that other bag, that's the bag that I packed to to give him his hammers back. I only use these for dirty clothes. I don't know what I'm lined up for because I just admitted this. But, I want you to know from the bottom of my heart. I'm sorry. I never put my hands on that man, ever. I mean, if you already got a clean in and clean out burglary as you would say. And he's talking about it's for me, for my child support. You call the child's neighbor and you ask that man how hard I work. I work honest money. I don't need no dope money. No. I'm not that way. And he's going to walk away scot-free and I'm going to get locked up. Who? Jay? But, why is he going to walk scot-free? I I assume. I'm sorry. Makes it as if you were a man of stone. Who's actually in the jail? Well, he told you he was sitting out there. I'm going to be there. I had to come clean. You're right. But, I thought Let me be honest. I thought you was lying to me the minute you walked in the door. But, that right there had me fooled, man. I ain't got time to lie. I appreciate I appreciate it. We don't have time to lie, I mean. I but It is what it is, I mean. I mean, like you said, I watch too much TV, but I figured I mean, I figured it's what it is. But, you knew You knew in your heart you knew I I didn't know his name till now. And I I didn't even know his name till now. You knew in your heart what happened last night. You knew that man was dead. You knew we were coming because you were scared to [ __ ] death the moment we came in here. When? When? to your house. Look, I told you there's two things I'm afraid of, DMV and the courthouse, bro. I mean, really, I get scared to death, cuz I always wind up owing some money. Every freaking and I just I believe I believe this is the most truthful thing you said all night, so now I believe that. And you got to feel better. But I did not hurt no man, and I'm still going to catch a charge for it. Unfortunately, yeah. I would like to eat. Hand in one hand, in the ball. I didn't know a [ __ ] thing about that. Just like if me and him go to rob a a liquor store, I'm driving, he robbing, I get charged with it. I I It's probably going to So, what am I looking at, boss man? Right now, I got a burglary first on you. What's that? Burglary first. Burglary, what now? I'll test him burglary first. Burglary. Okay. And uh I don't have the murder warrant yet. I didn't murder I didn't touch nobody. Both brothers insist that they had nothing to do with murdering Cantley. If Lance can make the detectives believe that Jacob struck the killing blows, he may hope to get away with lesser charges. My hands is I don't know about it. I didn't I did I'm telling you, as soon as I seen him s- I pulled him. We got the [ __ ] out of the room. But But I wasn't in the house in the last 5 minutes. I was out there, outside. So, what happened in the last 5 minutes? I I was outside. I got I got honest truth. No, no, no. No, no. What did you think happened? I don't know. I have no [ __ ] clue. But if I would have just pulled up say you hit him in the head. How many times did you hit him? I I can't count. I can't [ __ ] count. Two, three, five, 10? It felt like it was like 10 [ __ ] times. You know how it just slows down? Yeah. But it He was already dead. You think he was? You think the guy was uh would survive that? I don't know. And if y'all went in that living room, the door was right here. The couch is what I seen the couch sitting right here. And all I seen of that man was laying. Okay. Straight up. All right, say this is the couch, right here. He was kind of he even had this little end table. and coffee table right there. Coffee table right there. He was kind of laying like this. And all I heard him say, "What the [ __ ] Get out of my house." And Jake started swinging. And can I demonstrate? I grabbed him like this. Okay. Can you turn around and I demonstrate I grabbed Jacob like this. I think it was with this hand. He might have a scratch on his neck from it. And I pulled him and said, "Quit, Jacob. Quit." Mhm. And I turned around. And when I turned around, he had it in his hand. And I just turned him back and walked out. That's what happened. Where did the guy end up? He was still sitting in the same position. And I didn't look at him. I was too afraid to look at him. Cuz I didn't know if I mean, I It felt like he may have only hit him a couple times. Just enough to like piss him off or enough to say, "You don't talk about my mom." But the whole time Jake's sitting there talking about his mom. "Are you running your mouth about my mom? Want to rape my [ __ ] mom?" And that's it. He got that out of his mouth. I said, "Stop." Cuz I know how he is. I didn't murder nobody. Who set it on fire? What? It's me. You set the man on fire? I didn't set no man on fire. Are you [ __ ] for real? Just It gets worse? Yes, sir. Yeah. I didn't see him on fire. That's why he had to. Jake was in there for a couple more minutes. But when we was pulling out of the driveway, I didn't see no fire or nothing. Yeah. You didn't see him on fire? The fire did not have time to become very large. Kently's son, Brooks, was able to wake up in time for it to be put out quickly. He said you did. I didn't. He said you took a knife and cut open a Zippo lighter fluid can and poured it on him and lit him on fire. I know I did. And now I'm going You got me on my charges. I'm just asking. I'm going to do I have no cause to lie to you? You know? And and we're just but trying to verify what he's telling us. Yes, you know, the man was set on fire. Well, it sounds like to me he was the getaway driver on that video. You know what I mean? That's what he told us. That's what That's what he tells us. I ain't got to pay for that that man. Yes. He He's already charged with murder and burglary and all that bastard. He got more charges coming. And he sat right there. He told his story just like I said he did. In which at the time Well, look. At the time I don't know you've made a vow yet. But we're pretty good judge personalities. I believe he he had a cold heart. Jake had a cold heart. I looked at my first enemy. I I Yes, I opened up the place. Yes, I did. But wait for my [ __ ] child support. What did you buy it for? For him. And I was going to get I was going to get a little bit of money. I ain't going to lie. Why did you feel the need to get in good with this Orlando guy if they've already been doing deals together? Yeah, they did They had fallen out. Glenn Glenn is the one that shot that [ __ ] Y'all had him in the court system a week ago. And he shot three [ __ ] Now he's out. Y'all gave him $10,000 to get out. Y'all straight, y'all. I'm not trying to apologize got to do the stereotype by no means, but one of the I know what you mean. I know what you And they let him out on a 10 grand. And he's out there about to go pop another person. Who did he shoot? I don't know. I don't get into it. I don't mess with that life. He did He did not do the shooting. Look, I'm a consumer. Every now and then, I might buy a gram or two of weed from Jacob only. I have a job. I have my prescription that I take. I drink beer every now and then. I don't do this [ __ ] sir. Yes, I did last night. I did not murder that man. Well, there's there's two more things that I need. What do you need, boss? I need that bat. I I don't know. I honestly don't I honestly don't. I don't really give a [ __ ] I don't know where Jacob's phone is. I I don't Jacob said you got rid of the bat. He won't He I don't think Everything on that plate I already done everything. I don't think Listen to me. I don't think you had anything to do with Jacob's phone cuz I think Jacob is hidden his phone somewhere. But, he says you you got rid of the bat when you when y'all were trying to burn the car. And I did not burn the [ __ ] car. I just want to know if it's true. Did Did you Some one of you two grab the bat and throw it towards into the pines? Or are we searching for worthless cause? Did we Did we Did we throw it out in the road? Did we throw it in the lake? I know. Just the way it happened. He pulled in my yard. Like, you know, when you're coming down my road? It's to where my my house is. You know my neighbor's yard 6 ft fence. He pulled right inside of Grange Andrew Jackson bus. Pulled up right side of my window. You know where my window is, right? On this side. He pulled up right there. He started handing me stuff. Through the window? Through the window. Well, some stuff, and I started loading some on the front porch that wouldn't go through the window. I was like, "Well, you're going to only going to keep this." He kept a bunch of electric guitars. I was like, "How you going to explain that [ __ ] Really, how you going to explain that shit?" And then, um, he brought in them little white hampers. I don't know if y'all seen them. But, white hampers is full of electronics. He said, "Oh, I didn't come off of this. Come off of this. Come off of this." I'm raising him. I wouldn't expect him much. I didn't realize my actions. I didn't think these through. But, I don't know where the bat is, and I have no clue where the bat is. telling us that you threw it into the pond where the car was. I'm just trying to be straight up with you and ask you, was that true? Y'all find a car? Yeah, we found the car. I mean, I didn't throw the bat. But, I did get a towel and wipe my hands off. I had my fingerprints off. I ain't going to lie to you about that. And, matter of fact, it's it's a like a blue towel that I had sitting in the car. Lance is still not admitting to disposing of the bat. He wants that piece of evidence firmly connected with his brother. No, I mean, you played hardball for an hour or so trying to say you didn't do it. I wouldn't expect Didn't want my family going in. Well, don't you think Well, we You've seen enough cop shows. When you get to the sheriff's office and you're wearing orange and all this, don't you think we kind of do know what happened? Don't you think we kind of do know what happened? Yeah, I fully believe it. I That's why I was feeling you out while you feeling me out. Then, we can tell. But, I don't make it out to lie. Well, that's why I'm asking you now about the bat. Yeah, I mean, I mean, what did you What are you saying about lying about it now? You don't want to say anything? I used the bat. And how? I took it from him, and I put it in the right back end corner of that gold car. Cuz he's telling us that you took the bath. And you chucked it. Apparently I I done everything. I killed, burned, everything. You know what Jacob said he did? Said he drove the car. He's going to lie to you. That's what Jacob said he did. That's all he did. He never confessed to all that anything. I don't know. I held the towel in there for about 5 minutes. Nope. I ain't going to kill you. You don't need to look at his tail anymore, do you? I ain't going to kill you. You don't need to look at his tail anymore, do you? I just want to talk to him like a big brother. Can you bring him in? Mhm. I will do that. No, I'm I'm not meaning cross talking. I mean I want I want to ask him at all the times I had your back. At all the times you needed me. Where the [ __ ] you at now? You going to leave for a problem? What did you do the whole time? You you tried to protect yourself. How long? It took 45 minutes. A long while, right? So, he's doing the same [ __ ] He's just trying to get it off of him. But, I I never mentioned he done nothing wrong but until I ain't going to lie. Well, you mentioned the first part of that video, didn't you? I doubt you stayed. I figured you edited it. I didn't edit it. That's just the part that where he started talking about what you did. Okay. Or what he says you did. I'm playing. Mhm. But, I understand self-preservation. You got to protect yourself. Ain't protecting nobody. I'd much rather take a charge than him, but I didn't murder nobody. Well, like I said, unfortunately, you probably will get charged. That's That's That's probably what will happen. You mean? But, for murder? In South Carolina, they handle one of the hand of all. You could I get him. How could I stop him? You could. You could have then held him there, called police. Called us when he got back home, hey, I was with my brother last night and he [ __ ] killed somebody. Oh yeah, we went over here and robbed him and shot him at his house by the way. Yeah, you might get a damn murder charge out of it cuz it's been a murder charge. All right, how many years? I don't know, that's not my area. If you cooperate you know, they might go light on you. I I don't know. Murder violent So I I don't know. I mean, I'm not being a smart ass. I know. He got me on this murder charge right now. I believe they're holding out. They believe they'll cover their ass and they believe they'll not cover my ass. So Mhm. I'm leaving and learning, man. Yeah, I don't know. I'm not my area. But What else you need from him, bud? Pretty much got my verbal statement. Right. Yep. You crying like a [ __ ] Thank you, Jake. Yes, I am. Hey, you're not the first person that's ever cried in a statement, so don't worry. Look at me. I never touched that man. I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I believe it. I didn't have beef with him. Have you heard that [ __ ] I didn't have beef with this man. What happened to Jacob's clothes? Huh? What happened to Jacob's clothes? What happened to his clothes? What do you mean? He said those weren't the clothes he had on were not the clothes that he wore to the house. No, I had camouflage clothes on. Which ones? Should be in the back seat. Maseo? This [ __ ] happened in January. Mhm. I know. Well, well, I mean Like I told you from the get-go, we make our cases before you sit here. I know. I know. That's what I did. Well. Well, you know, if you didn't If you didn't throw the bat, you didn't throw the bat. I didn't touch the bat, so I was taking it from him. Lance is trying to get a feel for what the outcome of his case might be, but it isn't something the detectives have determined. And I know my I know my fingerprints going to be all over it cuz I play roller bat every other weekend with my daughter out in the yard. You ever played that game? And that's the that's the bat I use. I've been using it since I was a kid. So, my fingerprints going to be on there, but I swear, I don't care if you believe me or not. I didn't touch that bat. I wouldn't have touched that bat. If you had a million dollars in your pocket and I needed my child support paid, it ain't worth my time. I'd rather cut your grass. That's the way I'm made. For what? Taking the man's wallet? I didn't touch the [ __ ] wallet. You said my fingerprints on these things? I'm not being a smart ass. I'm just saying. I'm asking. I didn't take the man's wallet. Did you see him do it? Like I said, as soon as I seen him hit him, he went look where the front door is. You got that side door, right? I'm standing I was walking right past it because I'm looking at the back hat up cuz he has it in his pocket. I was looking at his hat and I was looking at his front door. Jake pops the door open. That dude said, "You need to get the [ __ ] out of my house." and Jacob starts yelling. And by the time I come around Jake, I grabbed the bat and I I had to grab him right here. And then I grabbed back from him, turned around and walked out. Come on. I I called the police. Ain't nobody to pull. Look let me ask you this. When y'all first got up to that house, did you go straight in or did you look around, peek through the windows or He wanted to look around. From the outside looking around? Yeah, he wanted to look around. Which way did you rock the sun? Did they ever think of who did y'all ever consider where the sun was? With the what? Is her name Brooke? Brooke's. All right, that's the first thing I asked. The second thing was you sure? Well, a while ago what was he He going there that late in the knowing that With the what? I was riding with him and then we winded up What if people break into houses or steal [ __ ] and Wait. People are not to be there. Right? Mhm. So, what was the plan to go there that night knowing that Brooke and Tyler was going to be there that night? Jake just wanted to scare the piss out of him. He wanted to let that man know that he didn't rock his socks. That it was just going to be the other way. It was not intended on I mean we honestly until we hit that back window and he seen all that [ __ ] and TVs and all that stuff. There was no intention to do What do you mean not rock his world? I mean So, just scare the piss out of him, make him realize who he really is. What I'm talking about that [ __ ] And then till he seen that, that's when he decided he wanted to take knives. So. We took him I ain't going to lie. I seen a couple things I liked, but I knew in my heart I shouldn't have took it. But I didn't touch nobody. But you have no idea where Jake's phone is. I don't know. I'm telling you the truth, man. I ain't told you where my phone is. Did you go to Hardee's with him? Been nice. I was hungry as hell all night long last night. I had one of them tostada pizzas 99 cent when when I got home from work. I put I don't have to get a bowl now. Drinking don't help you much. Give you the munchies. So, the when you dropped off the car, is that when y'all went by your house? That's when we headed that way. I'm not sure if I stopped and dropped it off there. You talking about a Mercedes or whatever. Huh? You talking about a damn duty. Yeah. After y'all dropped off the car, did you go back straight to your house or Yeah, I got to my house. So, that's when y'all put the stuff in the house? No. That was That was after. So, you left the house, dropped off stuff, dumped the car, came back to your house. And he let me out. He was freaking out. And then um he sent me a text on my phone talking about the feds are on your way. Let me ask you this question. Any time were y'all in a silver car? A silver car? A silver car? Was there anything else we needed to know that To be completely honest with you, finally, I I apologize for lying to you. I'm mad at him. You got a job. I got a job. Look, I'm mad at myself cuz I always tell my kids, "You be honest. My name's Ernest." Ernest means honest and trustworthy. And what did I do? I broke both of them, right? Well, but you know what? You made it right. That was unfortunate. You got to feel You got to feel better, don't you? I don't. You got to do. Because for the next 78 Saturdays or not or if not longer, I don't get to see my baby. But that's a choice I made, right? Well, you don't know that. I know that. You don't. Two brothers you said. That's yeah. But that's my dad's side. Oh, okay. We are her life. I'm her alarm clock every day. Do you have any contact with your dad? Mhm. Yeah, and my dad's now got prostate cancer. He got 6 months. I was going to go down there Sunday cuz I would. I don't know if he'll be sharing the details. I'm sure. But you know what? I'm two for life now, 15 buggy years. What would you have done if you hadn't been drinking and I wouldn't have done it at all. I just didn't want to punk out in front of him. I just wanted to let him know that I'm the one [ __ ] that's got your back today. Until I seen him pick that bag up. And when I seen him pick that bag up, it reminded me of Lloyd Edward Lance, our father. And he might know him. Look him up. He beat my mama for about 16 years. I can't assault her. I don't trust polygraph tests. That's fine. That's your opinion. I don't know if anybody else has ever said that to you, but I don't trust it. You swabbed me. I mean, but The detectives have plenty of evidence against Lance, so they aren't concerned that he won't consent to a polygraph. Well, we're going to have a guy come over and just take a couple pictures of you, too. This one? Yeah, take pictures of your hand and stuff like that. This one?
